BLM seeks public comment on Sloan Canyon Visitor Contact Station environmental assessment LAS VEGAS - The Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District announces the availability of a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to disclose and analyze the environmental effects of developing and maintaining a permanent visitor contact station and improved infrastructure at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area (NCA). This will replace the temporary visitor contact station at the north boundary of the NCA. The preliminary EA will be available for public review and comment beginning today for a period of 30 days. The purposes of the proposed project are to ensure proper management and protection of sensitive cultural and natural resources, improve the visitor experience, and provide appropriate facilities and infrastructure to support management of the Sloan Canyon NCA. Developing a permanent visitor contact station with associated improvements will support the record of decision for the approved Sloan Canyon NCA Resource Management Plan.
