PLAINVILLE -- The peanuts in the feeder set out in a Plainville yard were actually meant for the wild birds that have been singing us all awake lately, but another visitor this weekend found them irresistible, too.
On Saturday night, May 8, a black bear was sighted enjoying the little nuggets of plant-based protein from a bird feeder in the area of the Plainville Water Department off Rte. 106, police reported.
Police Chief James Alfred said the police department received a call about the bear at 10:53 p.m. Police then contacted the environmental police with the Massachusetts Division of Wildlife & Fisheries. Officers reported to the site and observed the bear feasting on the peanuts and seeds from the bird feeder.
