Bervie Women’s Institute met via Zoom on March 3rd at 10 a.m., with 12 members participating. Vice President Janice Hewitt welcomed everyone – this is our first meeting since Sept. of 2020. The Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect were repeated. The Roll Call “what have you been doing during the lockdown” was answered with many making quilt tops or finishing up sewing projects & photo albums, lots of reading and sorting thru stuff in their houses. Sandra MacDonald read the minutes of the Sept. 9, 2020 meeting and Janice gave the Treasurer’s report. It was noted that $130.90 was donated to the Lyme Disease fund in 2020. Several thank you cards were read including one from FWIO and also the Bruce County Women’s Institute Scholarship fund regarding donations made in memory of Vi Thompson who was a Bervie Institute member for 53 years. A minute’s silence was held in Vi’s memory. Mildred Griffith gave the Sunshine report. Ellen Waye will hold a plant sale at her place in Point Clark on the May 24th weekend with minimum contact rules. $100 will be donated to both the Kincardine and Tiverton Fall Fairs. Details were established regarding payment of fees at the annual meeting to be held via Zoom on April 7th at 10 am. Elsie Shular will assign new secret pal names and members will donate to the food bank instead of a secret pal reveal gift. The nominating committee went over the officers for 2021-2022 noting several changes. The building committee will look into possibilities re the future of the W.I. hall in Bervie.
