A public opinion analyst from Benue State, Sesugh Akume, has sued Governor Hyacinth Alia, for sacking all elected local government officials in the state shortly after he was sworn as governor on June 23, 2023 in flagrant violation of the constitution. He also asked the court to declare the removal of the elected local government officials as a coup d'etat.
