Bea Basnight appointed as Dare County commissioner to replace late member

Elizabeth “Bea” Basnight of Manteo was sworn into the Dare County Board of Commissioners during its Monday meeting. The longtime educator and former school board member switched party affiliation and fills the seat left by the late Jim Tobin of Manns Harbor.
