authorities had said before it israeli hostages will be released by hamas on friday afternoon at moo local time. the names of the 13 hostages to be released have been handed to qatari mediators and now passed on to the four—day pause in fighting in gaza will start on friday morning at 7am local time. prisoners being held in israeli jails will also be released as part of the delayed deal. humanitarian aid will start to go into gaza as soon as the pause in fighting actually starts. well, let's go straight to tel aviv, straight to anna foster. finally we have the exact details of the first stage here. ~ ., ~ . * exact details of the first stage here. ~ ., a, ~ ., here. we do, matthew. and invite at this yesterday _ here. we do, matthew. and invite at this yesterday i _ here. we do, matthew. and invite at this yesterday i think _ here. we do, matthew. and invite at this yesterday i think people - here. we do, matthew. and invite at this yesterday i think people here, i this yesterday i think people here, perhaps people in gaza as well thought that this hostage deal was a lot closer than it actually was. we had expected times. we had about potential choreography that was due to happen today and around about midnight last night local time we heard from israel's national security chief that in fact there had been a delay. i think a delay that we never quite got to the bottom of. we never really found out conclusively in the press conference given by the qataris of why things ended up moving back and what the sticking point is actually well but your right to say we had a lot more detail in that press conference about exactly how this will work tomorrow so to 7am local time will be the first element of this hostage release deal and that is a ceasefire for a period of time so israel's defence forces. there fighting in the gaza strip. that will happen early, localtime. the gaza strip. that will happen early, local time. and then there will be a period of quite a few hours before the release of the first group of hostages. now, this is something we expect to see repeated over four days. we is something we expect to see repeated overfour days. we are is something we expect to see repeated over four days. we are told tomorrow that 13 hostages, we believe, the names of whom have already been provided to israel and israel say that they are now contacting those relatives and families. we expect them to be released and brought from gaza back into his will and then the suggestion as there will be a two hour time window for israel to release a number of palestinian prisoners held in a prison, an israeli detention centre in the west bank. those prisoners will be released and returned to their homes, we believe, in the occupied west bank and then humanitarian aid we talked about there, that is important. we are led to believe that 208 tracks, a far larger number than we've seen on a single day so far will be allowed to enter into the gaza strip, not meeting the humanitarian needs of those civilian to live there, many of whom have been displaced but we are at the stage now, i think about a lot of the detail has been confirmed. i think it is fair to say that some of this is still being worked out, you know, these talks, this deal has been going on for weeks. i think even at this moment the finer details are probably being agreed and ironed out, the finer details of what will happen to those hostages, where they will go, how they will be treated, what kind of humanitarian aid goes on, all of these things, i think my will gradually unfold over the next 2a hours but it is one of the next 2a hours but it is one of the most significant moments in this war so far that we have seen in the last seven weeks. find war so far that we forget that this is a small number of around 20% of the hostages. women and children, as we are told, in this first grouping. your right to say this is an agonising moment for some of those families and some who i have been speaking to, you know, they described as bittersweet because they have become a very close—knit group and for some of those families they know, particularly if their loved one who is being held hostage as a male under the age of 20 or so, they know that they won't be seeing them as part of this first hostage release. those who are missing children are hoping that they will be returned to them in the next four days or so. but let's have a little listen to some more of that detail from that press conference. qatar's foreign minister has been speaking just in the last has been agreed that are being confirmed ljy been agreed that are being confirmed by qatar and of course, qatar, if you are wondering, have been crucial in all of this would have these negotiations don't happen directly between israel and to hamas. qatar is the main broker of all of this. and that is why those details and so much of this agreement, the information we hear comes from them. anna, just a wider question, finally, because benjamin netanyahu has repeated day or so the overall objective which is to destroy hamas but still saying he intends to get all of the hostages out. i mean, there are obvious difficulties with those two statements, and there? you are riuht. those two statements, and there? gm. are right. you're absolutely right and i think it puts into context what we're seeing here which is the first release of 50 or so hostages only, we are told, women and children. we believe all of the children, not necessarily all the women who have been held hostage, and we had again the qataris in that press conference saying that they hope that this leads to a more permanent truce. now, that is highly unlikely because the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu, even when he was talking about this being agreed by the israeli war cabinet and security cabinet and government just yesterday, that he again made it crystal clear that there was this four—day pause, once it had finished, they would continue their military action against hamas. it is also interesting because we talked about the palestinian prisoner release element of all of this. we spent around 150 but the list that has been compiled and released because people here in israel are able to appeal against that happening, they have to release a list of names of palestinian prisoners before they are actually allowed out. that this has 300 names on it so there is scope there for more hostages than that 50 to actually be released. i think that is the hope. but you're absolutely right in saying, matthew, of course, other families, right in saying, matthew, of course, otherfamilies, some of right in saying, matthew, of course, other families, some of the families i've been speaking to over these last few days, they know that their loved ones will not be in that first group. they know that fighting is likely to resume. they're hoping, hoping, perhaps, that the hostages released might be able to give some information prove of life of the loved one is that they are missing but israel has made it very clear that it does want to recover those hostages but, you say, the destruction of yet. that is _ still, your assessment. we are not there yet. that is very _ still, your assessment. we are not there yet. that is very reassuring l there yet. that is very reassuring that they qataris are felt confident enough to make that announcement because a few hours ago it was looking a bit slippery, to be honest. because you had a cheap israeli spokesperson saying that hamas were adding new conditions, which was really worrying. we know that there were problems in trying to, for hamas, to try to gather up these hostages and get all the names and genders and identities matching what israel had. there was a mismatch between them. the israelis obviously have set up an operation for hostages very same after the october seven raid and they've been trying to keep close and careful tabs on who has been taken into the os, examining the clues that they can put up for hamas, the difficulty is that they scatter them around very quickly. not all of the hostages that were seized and that they are being held by hamas put up around 30 or so are being held by palestinian islamic militia group inside the gaza strip. they have said in a statement they are not going to give everybody up until all prisoners are released from prison, there is around 7000 of them so that is not going to happen straightaway. they have gone for the lowest hanging fruit foot of the women, the children, the the noncombatants. but that still leaves around 150 plus hostages held presumably underground in tunnels in gaza said the mediation is going to continue and qatar is going to continue as well that abbott is not over when 50 is released over the next days. the plan agreed yesterday is that, after the first 50 arrived and 150 palestinians are released, there will be batches of ten day and for every ten that come out, this is not certain that they will come out, for every ten hostages that hamas release israel will extend the pause by one more day. remember that there is a mismatch here. hamas and most of the region want the pause to be indefinite. they don't want to see gaza being hit any more. israel wants to on because they want to finish off the job of defeating, not defeating but eliminating hamas's ability to hit israel. because they say if they stop now, hamas had made it very publicly want to try to hit them again. {lari it very publicly want to try to hit them again-— them there are under our opponents on both sides. there i added there? there are under our. opponents on both sides. there will be people on the hamas side, on the more extreme militant side, it is already an extremist organisation but there are extremist within that too will have opposed this. likewise, the israeli side, they happen because among some far right extremist for the death penalty for anybody captured. that has been opposed by the hostage family since they don't do that that will make it even harder to get them out. people are not necessarily singing from the same hymn sheet, which is why it is frankly an incredible achievement by qatar, egypt and the united states to have brought these two bitter enemies together to have any kind of a deal. but it is not over yet because we have not seen any of the new hostages come out. and. because we have not seen any of the new hostages come out.— new hostages come out. and, of course, new hostages come out. and, of course. there — new hostages come out. and, of course, there is _ new hostages come out. and, of course, there is so _ new hostages come out. and, of course, there is so much - new hostages come out. and, of course, there is so much here i new hostages come out. and, of. course, there is so much here that is so fragile. it is such a difficult deal to have put into place and similarly, it will be a deal that is easy to actually get off the rails in terms of the fragility of it? you make yeah, i mean, you know, anything go wrong but that's hope it doesn't. the fact that the icrc, the international committee of the red cross, has been able to get out for hostages already, save thee out, bodes well. there is a mechanism. isn't hamas's interest to protect those hostages coming out and the one to come out after that if they are going to, you know, see the palestinian prisoners coming out at the other side of the deal. ultimately, though, the whole region and the wider islamic world want this world to stop now. they don't want to see it resumed. —— make this war to stop now. it is not just israel saying we will carry on shooting after this finishes. hamas had put out a statement yesterday finger is on the trigger so their war doesn't end either which is why israel wants to end hamas. there is no plan that i can see for day two, after this. yes, and in terms of what lies ahead these sorts of pauses have been elongated and that ultimately led to a ceasefire that has been in place but at this time is your making it absolutely clear that that is not going to happen because of what happened on october seven. this time they say it is different. problem here, matthew. and it is one that was put quite eloquently, i think, and it is one that was put quite eloquently, ithink, by and it is one there is nothing to offer are living in a shattered part of the world put up every single person in the gaza strip will have been scarred by what has happened. as indeed are israelis and what happened
