the scene between 2016 and 2017. after that he had an opportunity to move to brighton. it was there they were preparing to get him on. he found the medical and it gave the first indication he had a problem with his heart. he had a defibrillator inside of him to help him continue to play. in 2020 he had the implant and went on to play for an austrian side again. in 2021 he had another issue wesley koolhof won in straight sets against the australian pair rinky hijikata and jason kubler 6—3, 6—4. skupski and koolhof are the number two seeds were semi—finalists at this event last year, they are the current wimbledon champions in the men's doubles. britain'sjoe salisbury is also in doubles action in turin right now. he and partner rajeev ram have taken the first set against 43—year—old rohanna bopara and his partner matthew ebden. they just won in straight sets. alex zverev often saves his best tennis for the atp finals — he's been the men's singles champion twice in this event, now he's made the perfect start to this campaign by beating world number two carlos alcaraz. zverev is the world number seven and hasn't won a grand slam singles event, but he's taken the first steps to a third title here. the wimbledon champion alcaraz had taken the first set but zverev responded and came back to win in a final set decider. it's the spaniards third defeat in a row — the first time that's happened since 2021. well, after novak djokovic's opening win over holger rune in turin, he will now end the year as world number one for a record eighth time. it takes the 36—year—old's winning run to 19 matches in a row — in a year, where he made all four grad slam finals, winning three of them. always has been a huge objective and huge goal of mine to be number one in the world. other than grand slams thatis in the world. other than grand slams that is what counts the most, to finish up the year as number one in the world in the stage of my life is something really amazing. the beginning of the year i really was not prioritising that, i must say, i was prioritising grand slams. i think i put myself in a very good position due to cumulative points. now, what a weekend it
