on remembrance sunday. health officials in gaza say 13 palestinians have been killed in the south of the territory, it comes as the world health organization says it lost contact with al—shifa hospital. israel's military says it has agreed to evacuate babies who need oxygen, to a safer place, on sunday. officials at al—shifa say to newborns died as a result of the hospital running out of power. this photo was sent to the bbc last night. showing more than 20 babies being kept in a surgical theatre instead of incubators, despite being reportedly in need of oxygen treatment. a correspondence took these pictures and says a block of around ten houses have been destroyed. he saw a man carrying an injured girl and screaming for someone to call for an ambulance. he said he saw four bodies and more than 100 injured people. that is coming to us from a bbc correspondent in southern gaza. let us go live now tojordan, and speak to a director of communications for the un. what is the latest you are hearing from your colleagues on the ground in gaza? i have told you and colleagues every time we speak, every day, the situation gets worse by the minute, by the hour. itjust gets darker and darker for the people in by the hour. itjust gets darker and darkerfor the people in gaza, but also for the united nations, including our staff, our colleagues, that get killed. we are now at more than 100 colleagues who have been killed during the war. as you mentioned, you see the situation is grim and getting worse. we hear about food, power and water running out. how much longer do you think you can keep on going for? not much longer. especially because we are running out of fuel and we have been asking for an urgent shipment of fuel in support of the humanitarian operations for more than two weeks. our calls have been falling on deaf ears, literally. we are running out of fuel. it is only going to be a couple of days, and then, probably wednesday, we will have to take some tough decisions. we have 720,000 people taking shelter under the un flag across gaza. we have to provide them with assistance. even that is now put in jeopardy. israel says it is willing to help evacuate premature babies from some hospitals in the region and take them to a safe place. do you have faith in what the israeli government says on that front? we are calling for a humanitarian ceasefire for the sake of everyone including babies in gaza. a humanitarian ceasefire has got to come in place immediately. israel says a ceasefire is not going to happen until it gets its hostages back. you are calling for a ceasefire, israel says that is not going to happen, is there a middle ground? all hostages whenever they are need to be released, and there needs to be a humanitarian ceasefire for the sake of civilians wherever they are, including in gaza. i spoke to that is —— i spoke to the israel defence spokesperson. very concerned about this, very troubling and tragic. we are in contact with the hospital, we are trying to find a way to do this. there will be more information during the day. we are working very hard to find a way to get these babies out. sadly, hamas have been hiding and using this hospital as a hub. we are not striking the hospital right now, we are trying to find a way to make sure that people who are inside this hospital and cannot be moved have the capability to move. where do you plan to take these babies do? this will be an effort, i cannot go into all the details, that will be working hard to try to make this thing happen. we are not fighting the people of gaza. at the same time, in israel, in our minds, there is a nine—year—old hostage in gaza right now, we have to keep that in mind. ., i. ., ., right now, we have to keep that in mind. ., ., ., ., mind. you say you are not targeting the --eole mind. you say you are not targeting the peeple of— mind. you say you are not targeting the people of gaza, _ mind. you say you are not targeting the people of gaza, groups - mind. you say you are not targeting the people of gaza, groups on - mind. you say you are not targeting the people of gaza, groups on the l the people of gaza, groups on the ground say hospitals have been hit, united nations says one of its basis was hit, this was not a hamas operation, this is a united nations base, how do you respond to that? we are not deliberately attacking hospitals or un facilities. sadly, hamas will be firing merely beside the un facility, i think we have shown you some events where they fired from very near one of the un facilities. if we see someone filing we will do everything we can to take out the threat and try to minimise the impact to these facilities. we understand that the hospitals are more severe and more sensitive, we have not fired on the hospitals. two hospitals have been evacuated. 47 tonnes of humanitarian aid have entered that gaza strip. we understand that this humanitarian aid will allow us to dismantle hamas. spokesperson for the idf. israeli media is reporting several israeli media is reporting several israeli citizens wounded from shells fired from lebanon. and these pictures, apparently from an area in northern israel. the israeli military says it has responded with artillery fire back towards southern lebanon. police say counter demonstrators and right—wing activists made up the majority of the 126 arrests. a short time ago i spoke to zoe billingham who served for constabulary and fire and rescue services. a number of objectives yesterday. first and foremost was that the armistice the remembrance commemorations around the cenotaph and in central london could pass off peacefully. as we know, in the morning, that was achieved. the metropolitan police also wanted to prevent serious disorder. in a sense the metropolitan police had 1850 officers on the streets, double the number of officers previously. they kept the pro—palestinian protesters away from the far right protesters. but as we saw, it was well covered on the media, there were scuffles and skirmishers, led by the far right protesters. there was some disorder. a number of arrests. but thinking about how badly wrong this potentially could have gone i think the metropolitan police will think they have met their objectives of yesterday. there was tension in the lead up to yesterday, a stand—off between sir mark rowley metropolitan police commissioner, and the home secretary. she called these hate marches, they should not be allowed to go ahead, he pushed back on that, should he have a listen to the home secretary? in should he have a listen to the home secreta ? , _, , , secretary? in this country there is a presumption. — secretary? in this country there is a presumption, this _ secretary? in this country there is a presumption, this is _ secretary? in this country there is a presumption, this is the - secretary? in this country there is| a presumption, this is the doctrine that the police apply, in favour of allowing people to express their freedom of speech, for protest to go ahead, so long as there is not going to be serious disorder. the metropolitan police's main objectives yesterday which was to allow the armistice commemorations to go ahead, that objective was met. it would have been extremely difficult for the metropolitan police commissioner to have made the case, based on the risk assessment undertaken that that march should be banned. matches are only banned under the most exceptional circumstances. overall, most people would see that it was right that people exercised their right to protest, while at the same time the metropolitan police largely kept order on the streets of london, and protected people who wanted to commemorate armistice day, but also safeguarded communities who were at greater risk because of heightened tensions. now we return to the conflict in gaza, we speak to our correspondence live injerusalem. what is the latest? a lot of focus to date has been on the al—shifa hospital, and in particular what is happening to some of that youngest patients at this medical centre, it is the biggest hospital in gaza. the concern is for 37 newborn babies who the doctors have said need urgent care. what has been happening, what we have been expecting, is some sort of evacuation. israel has said that it wants to help in this process, to move the babies from their neonatal units, which apparently has run out of power. israel says they need to be taken to another hospital, so that the israeli operation can continue. we have been trying to get hold of people at the hospital today and we have not been able to come up communications appear to be down. we have not been able to talk to the medical director or the head of surgery who has previously given us an update as to what is happening, but medics have said that these 37 babies urgently need specialist care, they need oxygen, and at this moment there is no indication that they have been able to receive this sort of treatment. we see lots of reports on bbc and other news organisations around the world from hospitals like al—shifa, and from those injured, killed in gaza, how much does that filter through to the press injerusalem? communication with al—shifa hospital is difficult. we have been able to get some other information from other hospitals, a hospital not far away from al—shifa, a smaller hospital, the situation there is that the palestine red crescent has said that operations have ceased they are, they estimate about 500 patients are in the premises, and potentially 15,000 civilians, the potentially 15, 000 civilians, the estimate. potentially 15,000 civilians, the estimate. it is worth stressing that a lot of people in the hospitals in the northern part of gaza went there for safety, they thought the hospitals would be a place of sanctuary. they are finding that there is a lot of fighting raging around them. israel said it is not filing towards hospitals, it is not targeting civilians, there have been claims that that is not the case. but israel has also made clear that it believes hamas are creating these underground bunkers, control and command centres, under buildings, including hospitals. this is why they are focusing their efforts on these particular locations. it is an extremely difficult situation for the civilians who are caught in the crossfire. thank you very much. king charles has led the national service of remembrance at the cenotaph in central london. the service honours the contribution of military and civilian servicemen and women in world wars one and two, and other conflicts. ata time at a time of turmoil and division, a pause for reflection and remembrance. at one minute to 11 the king led senior members of the royal family to their positions in readiness for that national two minutes* silence for those who lost their lives in the two world wars and other conflicts. big ben strikes the hour. in whitehall the king laid his wreath on behalf of the nation, to stand upright against the cenotaph*s northern face. the political leaders laid their wreaths, followed by the high commissioners and that military chiefs. then it was the turn of the veterans, some 10,000 men and women, among them are 98—year—old who landed on d—day, all with their own memories of service, many with memories of service, many with memories of service, many with memories of loss. let's start at the cricket world cup, the final match before the semifinals begin, as hosts india, who topped the table, are taking on the netherlands. india have set a target of a11 for them to win. a tall orderfor the a tall order for the netherlands. the pick of sunday's premier league games as at stamford bridge. the city boss doesn't think it will be long before chelsea are challenging for top spot again. we go there with, yeah, optimistic for what we have seen in the way they are training, the mood of the team. we are right now unexpected for two or three weeks top of the league right now. and this is what we have to try to maintain, the level, the quality of the game. but sooner or later, chelsea will be there fighting for the titles, no doubt about it. we need to give credit to all the organisation of manchester city, from the top and the bottom. and of course it's going to be a challenge. we want to compete against them, we already know that it's going to be tough, but i have seen we are going to go and try to compete in our best, and what we want is to win the three points because that is important for us. liverpool host brentford with the chance to go level on points with city and arsenal. aston villa are on the shoulders ofjuergen klopp's side and could go above them into the top four should they beat fulham. you can follow those scores on the bbc sport website. megan rapinoe*s final match of her football career ended early as the american star had to leave the pitch just three minutes into her farewell game. the two—time world cup winner said the national women's soccer league final as part of the 0l reign team was "really the last one". but a suspected torn achilles tendon brought a premature end to her night. rapinoe*s side also lost, meaning that she ends her career without an nwsl title — having spent 11 seasons with the seattle—based reign. philadelphia 76ers guard kelly oubrejr has sustained undisclosed injuries after being struck by a vehicle saturday and is expected to miss significant playing time. 27—year—old oubre was transported to a hospital in stable condition after being hit, and released a few hours later. the team says he is not expected to miss the rest of the season, but did not provide information on his injuries. the sixers said oubre was walking near his residence in downtown philadelphia when he was struck. new england patriots face indianapolis colts in frankfurt. courts have trained in germany as they look to stay in reach of the play—offs. that looks unlikely for patriots who have struggled this season. it is great for our team, our players, our staff. we have played a lot of nfl games. this one will be a little bit different, like mexico city, london, a good opportunity, we will make the most of it and enjoy it. and that's all the sport for now. authorities in iceland say the chances of a major volcanic eruption have decreased. there is still a threat to a nearby evacuated town. we talk to an expert on volcanoes from university of leeds. you grew up in iceland. it is a beautiful country, between two tectonic plates, one of the reasons the country is so striking is because of this history of seismic activity, how different is this this time? it is both unusual and not unusual. this part of iceland is volcanically and seismically active. every 1000 years or so we get a period of eruptions in this area. pretty much, right on time, the last eruption is finished about 800 years ago, now we are starting a new eruptive episodes. officials are evacuating people, how dangerous is this? people were evacuated midnight on friday night, when there were geophysical data that showed escalation of magma intruding under the ground. that is still the case. the likelihood of eruption is considered likely. people are staying elsewhere at the moment, about a000 people. staying elsewhere at the moment, about 4000 people.— about 4000 people. iceland's civil rotection about 4000 people. iceland's civil protection agency _ about 4000 people. iceland's civil protection agency has _ about 4000 people. iceland's civil protection agency has talked - about 4000 people. iceland's civil| protection agency has talked about this magma channel forming underneath certain towns, can you talk about that? magma channel has been translated from icelandic, there is a word is used in english, a magma dyke, a vertical column of magma that comes to the surface, physical measurements on the ground and from satellites we can see it was becoming very large and was inflating rapidly, and suggestion that we could be going into a large eruption. luckily, overthe last 12 hours or so, this inflation has slowed down, now the worst scenario of a large eruption is considered unlikely, but there is still a high chance of a smaller eruption. iceland is not a big country geographically, do you have enough space to move people to? is it possible you have two people out of the country altogether? fist possible you have two people out of the country altogether?— the country altogether? at the moment that _ the country altogether? at the moment that is _ the country altogether? at the moment that is quite - the country altogether? at the moment that is quite unlikely. j moment that is quite unlikely. iceland is a small, but it is a close—knit community, of the nearly a000 people evacuated, only 100 have been staying in shelters, the rest of been accommodated by friends or family are members of the public event at their spare homes for people to stay. it is unlikely that they would be a large—scale evacuation. that being said, we cannot rule anything out at this stage, but it is unlikely.
