you're watching a joint press conference from the defence departments from the us and israel. we are expecting the rest of this press conference to be taking place in english, so we are sticking with it. there are comments clearly not an english right now, but we are expecting to an english right now, but we are expecting to hear an english right now, but we are expecting to hear from an english right now, but we are expecting to hear from lloyd an english right now, but we are expecting to hear from lloyd austin. good afternoon everyone. we have beenin good afternoon everyone. we have been in close touch, but it's good to see you in person. it's good to be back in israel, even during such terrible days. as a us secretary of defence, i am terrible days. as a us secretary of defence, iam here terrible days. as a us secretary of defence, i am here in person to make something crystal—clear. america's supporter israel is ironclad. i extend my deepest condolences to the israeli people, for those killed or wounded by the terrible slaughter of her mass. i'm also here in solidarity with other families still sing living, the waking nightmare of not knowing the fate of the fate of their loved ones. we will continue to coordinate closely with israel to help secure the release of the innocent men, women and children in the clutches of her mass. including american citizens. israel is a small country, a place where everybody knows everybody. in times of trial, the intimacy of your society deepens the intimacy of your society deepens the intimacy of your society deepens the intimacy of your grief. that's not a weakness, it is a profound strength. in times of testing, israel is not to do. over this awful week, we have seen israeli hotels and homes take in those who have had to flee. we have seen long line—ups to flee. we have seen long line—ups to donate blood. we have seen whatsapp explode with messages as people raced to support neighbours in anguish. perhaps because i am a retired general, i was especially moved by the story of a retired general. his son called him on saturday from his home near gaza to say that her mass terrorist had stormed their commutes and were closing in. a retired generaljumped into his car in tel aviv and raced towards the combat zone. he linked with other fighters and rescued his son, daughter—in—law and his grand daughters. when the general arrived at the house, one of his granddaughterjust said, grampa is here. these are rays of hope in a terrible week. in times like these, sometimes the best thing a friend can do is show up. and get to work. this is no time for neutrality, or for false equivalence, this is no time for neutrality, or forfalse equivalence, orfor excuses for the inexcusable. there is never anyjustification excuses for the inexcusable. there is never any justification for terrorism. that is especially true after this rampage from her mass. anyone who wants lasting peace and security for this region, they must condemn and isolate her mass. her mass does not speak for the palestinian people or their hopes of dignity, security and statehood alongside israel. as a former commander in central command, the cruelty of her mass vividly reminds me of isis. bloodthirsty, fanatical, and hateful. and like isis, they have nothing to offer but solitary, bigotry and death. the world has just witnessed a great evil. the deadliest attacks on the state of israel and the bloodiest day in jewish history since the end of the holocaust. make no mistake, the united states will make sure that israel has what it needs to defend itself. israel has a right to protect its people. there were many phone calls this week, presidentjoe biden has told president netanyahu that the united states response to a massive fleet of terrorism. he also said democracy like ours are stronger and more secure when we uphold the laws of war. terrorist like a mass deliberately target civilians. but democracies don't. this is the time to resolve and not revenge. for purpose and not panic. and for security and not surrender. at present by then*s direction, we have moved urgently to respond to this crisis and to send a strong message of deterrence. the uss general is now in the region. led by the largest aircraft carrier in the world. we have augmented our squad in the middle east and will deploy additional assets if necessary. as president biden has said, for any country, for any group or anyone thinking about trying to take advantage of this atrocity, to try and widen the conflict or to store more blood, we havejust one word. don't. the world is watching and so are we. we are not going anywhere. we will remain in close contact with our valued partners across the region, and security assistance from the department of defence is already rapidly flowing into israel. that includes munitions, air defence capabilities and other equipment and resources. it also includes more interceptors for errant dome to save israeli lives and we will continue to ensure israel has what it needs to ensure israel has what it needs to keep itself secure. hamas attack during a time of global challenge. the united states is the most powerful country in the world, and we remain fully able to project power and appalled our commitments and direct resources to multiple theatres. we will stand with israel even as we stand with ukraine united states can walk and chew gum at the same time. us security assistant to israel were flowing at the speed of war. as a tiring week draws to a close. and as should back draws near, we stand together and stand strong. the united states has israel's back and that is not negotiable. it never will be. after this terrible week, i wish you and all the people of israel, should that —— speaks hebrew we believe the press conference there. we will keep an ear and an eye out for what comes out of it. those words mirroring from the white house itself, saying they are ready to deploy years. my experience in working with israeli forces is that they are professional, they are disciplined and they are focused on the right things. i expected, going forward, they will continue to exhibit the same degree of professionalism in the past, but we have seen this before. the international community fought isis who in some cases was embedded deeply in built—up areas. that you're watching a joint press conference from the defence departments from the us and israel. we are expecting the rest of this press conference to be taking place in english, so we are sticking with it. there are comments clearly not an english right now, but we are expecting to an english right now, but we are expecting to hear an english right now, but we are expecting to hear from an english right now, but we are expecting to hear from lloyd an english right now, but we are expecting to hear from lloyd austin. good afternoon everyone. we have beenin good afternoon everyone. we have been in close touch, but it's good to see you in person. it's good to be back in israel, even during such terrible days. as a us secretary of defence, i am terrible days. as a us secretary of defence, iam here terrible days. as a us secretary of defence, i am here in person to make something crystal—clear. america's supporter israel is ironclad. i extend my deepest condolences to the israeli people, for those killed or wounded by the terrible slaughter of her mass. i'm also here in solidarity with other families still sing living, the waking nightmare of not knowing the fate of the fate of their loved ones. we will continue to coordinate closely with israel to help secure the release of the innocent men, women and children in the clutches of her mass. including american citizens. israel is a small country, a place where everybody knows everybody. in times of trial, the intimacy of your society deepens the intimacy of your society deepens the intimacy of your society deepens the intimacy of your grief. that's not a weakness, it is a profound strength. in times of testing, israel is not to do. over this awful week, we have seen israeli hotels and homes take in those who have had to flee. we have seen long line—ups to flee. we have seen long line—ups to donate blood. we have seen whatsapp explode with messages as people raced to support neighbours in anguish. perhaps because i am a retired general, i was especially moved by the story of a retired general. his son called him on saturday from his home near gaza to say that her mass terrorist had stormed their commutes and were closing in. a retired generaljumped into his car in tel aviv and raced towards the combat zone. he linked with other fighters and rescued his son, daughter—in—law and his grand daughters. when the general arrived at the house, one of his granddaughterjust said, grampa is here. these are rays of hope in a terrible week. in times like these, sometimes the best thing a friend can do is show up. and get to work. this is no time for neutrality, or for false equivalence, this is no time for neutrality, or forfalse equivalence, orfor excuses for the inexcusable. there is never anyjustification excuses for the inexcusable. there is never any justification for terrorism. that is especially true after this rampage from her mass. anyone who wants lasting peace and security for this region, they must condemn and isolate her mass. her mass does not speak for the palestinian people or their hopes of dignity, security and statehood alongside israel. as a former commander in central command, the cruelty of her mass vividly reminds me of isis. bloodthirsty, fanatical, and hateful. and like isis, they have nothing to offer but solitary, bigotry and death. the world has just witnessed a great evil. the deadliest attacks on the state of israel and the bloodiest day in jewish history since the end of the holocaust. make no mistake, the united states will make sure that israel has what it needs to defend itself. israel has a right to protect its people. there were many phone calls this week, presidentjoe biden has told president netanyahu that the united states response to a massive fleet of terrorism. he also said democracy like ours are stronger and more secure when we uphold the laws of war. terrorist like a mass deliberately target civilians. but democracies don't. this is the time to resolve and not revenge. for purpose and not panic. and for security and not surrender. at present by then*s direction, we have moved urgently to respond to this crisis and to send a strong message of deterrence. the uss general is now in the region. led by the largest aircraft carrier in the world. we have augmented our squad in the middle east and will deploy additional assets if necessary. as president biden has said, for any country, for any group or anyone thinking about trying to take advantage of this atrocity, to try and widen the conflict or to store more blood, we havejust one word. don't. the world is watching and so are we. we are not going anywhere. we will remain in close contact with our valued partners across the region, and security assistance from the department of defence is already rapidly flowing into israel. that includes munitions, air defence capabilities and other equipment and resources. it also includes more interceptors for errant dome to save israeli lives and we will continue to ensure israel has what it needs to ensure israel has what it needs to keep itself secure. hamas attack during a time of global challenge. the united states is the most powerful country in the world, and we remain fully able to project power and appalled our commitments and direct resources to multiple theatres. we will stand with israel even as we stand with ukraine united states can walk and chew gum at the same time. us security assistant to israel were flowing at the speed of war. as a tiring week draws to a close. and as should back draws near, we stand together and stand strong. the united states has israel's back and that is not negotiable. it never will be. after this terrible week, i wish you and all the people of israel, should that —— that we would send to any country or group thinking to take advantage of the situation and widen the conflict, don't. i won't speculate on anything that'll happen in the future. i will tell you speaks hebrew we believe the press conference there. we will keep an ear and an eye out for what comes out of it. those words mirroring from the white house itself, saying they are ready to deploy will support israel's right to defend itself. we'll continue to flow in security assistance and i have worked with israeli forces over the years, over many years, as you know i wore a uniform for 41 years. my experience in working with israeli forces is that they are professional, they are disciplined and they are focused on the right things. i expected, going forward, they will continue to exhibit the same degree of professionalism in the past, but we have seen this before. the international community fought isis who in some cases was embedded deeply in built—up areas. that international coalition fought valiantly and protecting civilians and created corridors for humanitarian movements. even in the midst of a pretty significant fight. so again, this is a professional
