hello again. one of the features of this year's summer season was the highest temperature recorded in the year wasn't actually that high — 32 degrees celsius. more often than not, we see temperatures reach at least the mid 30s. and the weather in the weekend is going to get a lot warmer, probably not quite reaching the 32, but 29, 30 degrees is going to be some of the warmest weather that we have seen during the year. now, on saturday, we had lots of sunshine in devon and, after the early morning cloud melted away, most of the uk did see the sunshine come out through the afternoon. the exception — northern scotland, where through the night we've got some thicker cloud and some heavier rain on the way. it's going to be a mild start to the day on sunday. temperatures around 12—15 degrees celsius. now, over the next few days, an area of high pressure is going to build over and close to the uk. and it's this that's going to bring essentially a lot of dry, warm and sunny weather with weather fronts draped just around the periphery. now, on sunday, maybe a few mist and fog patches first thing in the morning. otherwise, lots of sunshine around. breezier weather, though, for the far north of scotland where that weak weather front will continue to bring the threat of a few patches of rain, mostly to the hebrides, the north of highland, orkney and shetland. and for these areas, temperatures a little bit below par. otherwise, most of scotland and northern ireland around 20—23, england and wales 23—25. it will feel warm in that september sun. and we've got more of that sunshine to come on monday as well. again, one or two early morning mist and fog patches clearing and then sunny skies across the board, with the exception again across northern scotland, where weather fronts continue to pester. however, it will begin to get a bit warmer across the north — 26 degrees in aberdeen, some 26s and 27s across england and wales. now, this fine spell of weather is down to the position and shape of the jet stream. got a big ridge across the uk and actually this is part of a broader omega block pattern. these block patterns don't tend to move very far, very fast, and that's why the weather for most of the uk is going to stay settled and sunny for the most part. now, there will be just a few exceptions here and there. could see an odd shower popping into the extreme south—west of england. weather fronts across the north of scotland probably getting squished. so it should be a brighter kind of day here on tuesday. and those temperatures continue to climb — 25 in glasgow, some 26s across england and wales. but it gets even warmer than that as we head into the middle part of the week. so more of that fine, settled, sunny weather to come on wednesday, maybe a bit of fair weather cloud building across the skies of northern ireland and west scotland, but not really spoiling the sunshine at all. and those temperatures, well, we're looking at highs — 25 in glasgow, but up to 29 around the london area, 26 in cardiff. it will feel warm in that sunshine wherever you are. now, the end of the week looks fine as well. but heading into next weekend, the blocked jet stream pattern starts to break down and move eastwards and that means we'll start to get this trough moving in to the west of the uk. and these trough patterns are responsible for areas of low pressure and cooler air flow coming back in off the atlantic. so there will be some changes in the weather pattern, but essentially thursday and friday staying dry, sunny and pretty hot. it's through the weekend that we've got a greater chance of seeing cloudier weather, lower temperatures and the threat of some rain, although these transitions can often come through a day or so later. so you might see the timing of that transition drift a little bit over the next few days. that's your latest weather. bye for now. live from london, this is bbc news. president biden is in florida to
