when the heat affects me. when you do have the best light in a day to be able to film, it's absolutely too hot for you to do it outside. so, since this is a compilation episode, i'm going to make sure that i bring coffee to everybody, since we don't get to go out for coffee. the hours between 11 in the morning until around four o'clock in the afternoon are no—go times for being outdoors. wait, wait. we need to look both ways. the heat impacts your life in ways that you don't necessarily anticipate. on a day—to—day, it makes things that are supposed to be a minute long an hour long. all right. yeah, let's sit down, my love. do you want the ac?— one of the things that i was not anticipating when i did finally have children was now i had this tiny little being that needed to be protected from the sun. all right, let's get going. and because i had rear—facing car seats, the ac unit actually never touched his car seat, so we would turn the car on 30 minutes prior to an outing, put the ice packs into his car seat to cool it down before i could place him in it, and then we had a tube that would extend from the front ac into the back just to make sure that we could get him enough air conditioning in a rear—facing car seat. and that is the reality for all parents here. push the door. push, push, push. do you want to try that one? it's mango with strawberry. i want only chocolate. is there a chocolate? i have spent my entire adult life living in kuwait but i did have a little bit of time where i got to grow up in the states and got to really be on my bike and be outside and make treehouses and climb trees and i guess i really did want that for my own children. how is it? good. is it cold? yeah? did it give you a brain freeze? no? that's good. i think there's a common misconception that there's the ability to split your time between multiple countries if you're kuwaiti. that has never been my reality, so the assumption that we're able to just leave when it's too hot is really not possible for everybody. this is the hottest i've ever seen kuwait. it is getting to the point where it's really unbearable and i feel like everything about living here is hostile sometimes. you said you like swimming inside or outside more? inside. inside. inside?| why do you like inside? do your feet hurt when you walk on the grass outside?— it concerns me that the only life that my children have known has been in scorching heat. they want to be kids and go to the playground and they'll beg to go all day and we'll finally break and take them and it'll be so unbearable that they're begging to go back home. really humid. the absolute best invention in the world. the only way... ..to stop it. look, you can't even feel it now. there's absolutely no way to survive here without ac. and i think that what's really disturbing about that is that you're cooling your little section but you're heating up outside and so we are in this awful, awful cycle of trying to cool ourselves down but also heating up the country even more as we go on. i think that we've gotten a little fatigued with the idea of climate change. you've got to stop using straws to save the turtles and you've got to turn off the lights in your bathroom as you leave the house to be able to save a bit of energy, but the big picture is what it actually means to live here, what it means to raise children here, and i sometimes worry, and it is one of my largest fears, is that my children are so young right now and these are probably the best days of their life in terms of we can consider kuwait habitable. with low pressure nearby for yet another weekend, rather unsettled again. satellite picture from earlier on saturday, you have seen that there is another deep area of low pressure, pressure from the southwest as we had through sunday with yet more heavy rain leading into scotland or northern ireland. this is how we'll start the day on sunday, it's also mild out there as well, the temperature is between 14 and 16 degrees. still a south westerly wind but not as blustery as it was on saturday and there will be a good scattering of showers, too. not as heavy or as thundery as they were on saturday. perhaps a few rumbles of thunder, moving into northern ireland and portions of scotland. temperatures in east anglia where it tends to be driest and brightest, 23 celsius. this is the position of the rain on sunday night into monday morning, that's going to be moving northwards and eastwards across much of wales, central southern england and to northern be stalled. on tuesday then it's mostly dry start, but a very murky start to the morning, areas of sea mist and fog as well. central and western areas of scotland but dry weather too, and as that cloud breaks up there will be some sunshine emerging, 22 or 23 celsius throughout southeast england. wednesday high pressure is towards the north of the uk, pushing eastward, low—pressure out in the atlantic again, of course it's been stalled by that high pressure, it's another murky start to the day. lots of low clouds here, get the sunshine will get to break through and temperatures across central southern england, could get to a nice 25 or 26 celsius on wednesday. looking pretty similar again on thursday. there could be a few showers around, low cloud to start the day, temperatures had back to the coast, perhaps a bit of sea mist around, high teens here. we'll start to see some rain approach northern island, this is the position of the jet stream as we head to next week, how far north it will be but it's drawing and of course air from southern europe, it will start to get a little warmer across southeast england and wales as well, stay unsettled and cooler towards the north
