very worthwhile and very good life. and yeah, i'm incredibly impressed by him. this is a young man given an impossibly difficult start to life, who's now determined to prove to himself and everyone else that his life is now defined by what is possible. john maguire, bbc news, in the lake district. time for a look at the weather. here's helen willetts. i have some brief warmth heading our way to tell you about. this is liverpooljust way to tell you about. this is liverpool just an way to tell you about. this is liverpooljust an hour way to tell you about. this is liverpool just an hour ago way to tell you about. this is liverpooljust an hour ago so blue skies for some today. a little grey around some of the coasts as you can see from this morning. we have a weak weather front moving north so all the time the sunshine is working through the cloud across parts of the south—west and wales but bringing some drizzle to northern ireland which pushes into western parts of scotland. still some sunshine around for orkney and still blowing a gale near shetland. but the rest of the afternoon a little warmer than yesterday for most of us. and it will get warmer still, some of the warmest weather tomorrow that we've had for around a month. quite chilly to start with this morning in some places, warmer overnight tonight. still some fog in land for the early stages of the rush—hour. but with high pressure around for tomorrow, looking fine and dry. this shows the deviation of temperatures from average. some intense heat as we have been hearing across iberia continuing particularly in the south. but back to our shores, mist and fog clearing away tomorrow morning and just the odd shower around in places. this next weather front coming in by the end of the day but it is dry and fairly sunny day. warm enough for the mid 20s in scotland, northern england, low 20s in northern ireland and hire further south and east. tomorrow night and friday, the next whether front is driven in by the next area of low pressure. back to sunshine and showers. the rain reluctant to clear on friday and then fewer showers in eastern areas. a rash of showers further west. some brighter weather between those showers and still quite warm and east but many of us feeling fresher bike friday and that continues into the weekend. on saturday and sunday low pressure add to the north and west, plenty of heavy showers around. thanks, helen. and that's bbc news at one. you can keep up with all the latest developments on the bbc website. the news continues here on bbc one — as now its time to join our colleagues across the nations and regions for the news where you are — goodbye. hello and welcome to sportsday. i'm hugh ferris. our top stories: we catch up with keira walsh speaking for the first time since injury and recovery at the world cup. my my whole purpose was just getting backin my whole purpose was just getting back in training and in a place where i could potentially help the team out on the day. the premier league season hasn't started yet but there's already been a change of manager. julen lopetegui has left wolves just a matter of days before their opening game. and back on court with her family in tow — caroline wozniacki wins again three years after retiring. hello again. it was the moment during the women's world cup when many england fans had their hearts in their mouths — keira walsh holding her knee during their match against denmark. the initialfear — particularly because it had happened to walsh before — was yet another anterior cruciate ligament injury in the women's game. but after that was ruled out, the midfielder — such an important part of the lionesses team — was back and played 120 minutes against nigeria as they reached the quarterfinals. she's been speaking to the bbc about the comeback from that moment. obviously it was really painful at first so that's probably the main thing i was thinking about. yeah, and then the doctor and physio came on and were speaking to me. my asking me if i could carry on and i didn't feel like i could and then obviously the structure came on and as georgia has already alluded to, they all find it really funny that i had to go off on a stretcher, more so because i was embarrassed. obviously they were worried about my knee but i think they know me as a person and know that i'd be really embarrassed. afterwards, yeah, just chatting with the physio. obviously, worst case scenario is what you immediately think about but i think for me, we got a really good medical team and the girls were really great in supporting me so it was just about focusing on getting back on the pitch and getting back in a place where i could try and help the team and obviously the china game was tough to miss but the ghost of a really good job and put in a top performance. yeah, it made a a lot easierfor me to performance. yeah, it made a a lot easier for me to watch back at the hotel and as i said, the medical team, orthe hotel and as i said, the medical team, or the focus was on getting back into training and in a place where i could potentially help the team out on the day. we had a lot of challenges thrown away in terms of the squad and red cards and going down to ten men and i think we showed a different side to us that people probably didn't know we had. i think going into these next games, we are looking to play our style of football and really trying to make a mark on these games that are coming up mark on these games that are coming up and hopefully we can do that starting against colombia. that quarterfinal _ starting against colombia. that quarterfinal on _ starting against colombia. that quarterfinal on saturday morning. the premier league season hasn't started yet but there's already been a change of manager. wolves have parted company withjulen lopetegui just a matter of days before their opening game after a long—running disagreement about transfers, with former bournemouth boss gary o'neil expected to take over. matt cooper is from the talking wolves podcast. matt it's not helpful timing, is it? no, i mean it's not ideal timing, five days before the season starts. i think that's a frustration amongst wolves fans is why couldn't this have been sorted out earlier because mike julian have been sorted out earlier because mikejulian lopetegui has voiced his concerns, rightly or wrongly, for the last few months so it's not new news on the timing isn't ideal. underlying this entire story is the fact that wolves basically don't have any money to spend on transfers, hence the reasonjulian lopetegui has fallen out and decided to move on. how worried are you about that as much is changing the manager? i about that as much is changing the manauer? ., * about that as much is changing the manauer? .,* . , about that as much is changing the manauer? ., * . , ~ manager? i don't necessarily think that's the case, _ manager? i don't necessarily think that's the case, that's _ manager? i don't necessarily think that's the case, that's what - manager? i don't necessarily think that's the case, that's what the . that's the case, that's what the club are saying but ffp is something they need to keep an eye on, as do all other clubs. i think it's more a fact that they have invested a hell of a lot of money to wolves over the last few years and probably invested some of it poorly stop so, i think for them, they want to start seeing a return of that investment and they are well within their right to do so. i got a sneaky feeling that they still will spend this window and they knew aboutjulie lebed being disgruntled and didn't want to be in thejob so i got disgruntled and didn't want to be in the job so i got a feeling that now he is gone and the new manager isn't they will spend. —— mikejulian lopetegui. that's the most frustrating thing is, the core of the squad is good we only need two or three additions and we will have a good well—balanced squad. fart or three additions and we will have a good well-balanced squad. part of the timin: a good well-balanced squad. part of the timing is — a good well-balanced squad. part of the timing is because _ a good well-balanced squad. part of the timing is because they _ a good well-balanced squad. part of the timing is because they had - a good well-balanced squad. part of the timing is because they had to i the timing is because they had to line up a successor, certainly that is whatjulian lopetegui has been suggesting about hanging around into preparing the team for pre—season. it will be gary o'neil who fondly enough to go over the first managerial vacancy last season as well when it was bournemouth. what you make of the job well when it was bournemouth. what you make of thejob he did well when it was bournemouth. what you make of the job he did there and how he might do with you? i you make of the job he did there and how he might do with you?— you make of the job he did there and how he might do with you? i think he did a aood how he might do with you? i think he did a good job _ how he might do with you? i think he did a good job at _ how he might do with you? i think he did a good job at bournemouth. - how he might do with you? i think he| did a good job at bournemouth. quite a pragmatic approach. i think statistically, if they play the premier league season probably another nine times, bournemouth may go down because they rode their luck at times. that's not to discredit the job he at times. that's not to discredit thejob he did, ifeel very underwhelmed by the appointment. i would love to be proven wrong, as would love to be proven wrong, as would most wolves fans who are underwhelmed by it. it doesn't help that he is following on from julian lopetegui who has won the europa league. i'm not really sure on the appointment. there is only a small sample size to look up there with bournemouth last season, only charge for a few months, his firstjob in first team football so it remains to be seen. but it looks like he will need a bit of patience from fans but i'm not sure whether they will afford him too much. ida i'm not sure whether they will afford him too much. no doubt we will check back _ afford him too much. no doubt we will check back in _ afford him too much. no doubt we will check back in on _ afford him too much. no doubt we will check back in on you - afford him too much. no doubt we will check back in on you once - afford him too much. no doubt we will check back in on you once the| will check back in on you once the seasonis will check back in on you once the season is under way. thank you for joining us on sportsday, matt cooper. while wolves are having to be circumspect in the transfer market, it appears that west ham are the opposite today. they've agreed fees for both southampton captainjames ward—prowse and manchester united defender harry maguire. the england international had slipped down the pecking order at old trafford under erik ten hag who took the captaincy off maguire at the start of preseason. west ham have had a £30 million offer accepted. it's not thought personal terms will be a problem, although they haven't yet been agreed. while ward prowse will also cost west ham around £30 million pounds. he has started the championship season with southampton. who had rejected all previous offers for their captain this summer. meanwhile, goalkeeper matt turner has joined nottingham forest from arsenal. the american has signed a four—year deal and moves with arsenal closing in on david raya from brentford. and burnley striker wout weghorst has moved to hoffenheim on a season—long loan. the dutch international spent part of the last campaign at manchester united. warren gatland has picked a completely new wales starting fifteen to face england at twickenham on saturday after beating the same opponents last weekend. hooker dewi lake will be captain for the first time with backs liam williams and josh adams returning to the side. gatland had already indicated he would pick three very different teams for the three world cup warm up games before naming his final squad for the tournament. it starts next month in france. former world number one caroline wozniacki has won her first match since returning to tennis following her retirment in 2020. herfirst round victory at the canadian open in montreal against kimberly birrell was comprehensive. and she'll now face the wimbledon champion marketa vondrousova. in wozniacki's time away from the sport, she and her husband — the former nba player david lee — have had two children. i wake iwake up, i wake up, i have breakfast with them and then i say, mum has to go to work and then i go for my hours of training and when they wake up from their nap in the afternoon, i'm back and we have play dates and do whatever. but it was also awesome just seeing, you know, their smile and i tried to explain that i was going to play a match and she goes, 0k, going to play a match and she goes, ok, mum, i have a wish, iwish going to play a match and she goes, ok, mum, i have a wish, i wish you win. iwas ok, mum, i have a wish, i wish you win. i was like, she get that from? so that was pretty cool. and james has really started to get personality to get personality too and it's not going to be long before he starts understanding as well so, i mean, what a start to their life. i mean, what a start to their life. i think that'sjust... i mean, what a start to their life. i think that's just... it's a gift that i can give that to them and that i can give that to them and that david can give that to them and we have spine to make time to spend with them as well so we don't miss them going up and that so important to me and for david as well but we get to be there every step of the way and at the same time i get to live this amazing dream of playing on the tour and hopefully playing well. some british players to watch out for today in canada. britain's katie boulter will face american coco gauff in the second round in montreal. and in the men's tournament in toronto, andy murray will be up against australia's max purcell. it follows his victory over lorenzo sonego in straight sets. murray has won the masters event three times. but, just two days after winning the biggest title of his career dan evans is out, losing in straight sets to gabriel diallo. it's his second straight defeat to the 21 year old canadian after losing to him in surbiton two months ago. you can get all the latest sports news at from the bbc sport app, orfrom our website — that's bbc.co.uk/sport. from me and the rest of the team at the bbc sport centre, goodbye. you're three years ago. musician megan thee stallion in the foot three years ago. our reporter nicky schiller has more details from the newsroomn. i wanted to start by giving you a bit of background to this case, which involves one of the biggest hip hop stars in the world. now, three years ago, reality star kylie jenner hosted a pool party in the hollywood hills. during thejourney home, grammy award winner megan thee stallion and canadian rapper tory lanez got into an argument over a previous sexual relationship. now that row intensified, at which point megan demanded that she be let out of the vehicle. tory lanez began shooting to the ground and said that she should dance. now, megan needed surgery to remove bullet fragments from her foot. tory lanez, seen here during the trial, always denied the shooting and even released an entire album to argue he was innocent. but he was found guilty in december last year and has now been sentenced to ten years in jail. his lawyer hit out at the length of the sentence. in this case, to get a ten year sentence is extreme and reallyjust another example of someone being punished for their celebrity status and someone being utilised to send an example. and he's not an example. he's a human being. this case was divisive in the hip—hop world. indeed, the sentencing hearing lasted two days as the judge said he had had 70 letters from friends and family in support of tory lanez. now, when megan gave evidence in december last year, supporters gathered outside the court with posters saying, "we stand with megan." she gave a victim impact statement in which she said she would never be the same, adding that "since i was viciously
