A white flag of victory, the taliban flag. The centre of the scenic Panjshir Valley. This last redoubt of armed opposition, now claimed by the taliban. God is great, their fighters cry. In kabul today, the taliban spokesman had a message for the enemy. Translation we have captured panjshir, with the will of god. We are telling those people who still want to fight, if they want a normal life, they are welcome in afghanistan, their home. But they need to stop fuelling instability. A defiant reply on Social Media. 32 year old Commander Ahmad Massoud vows to continue the resistance. He says his men are still in Panjshir Valley and urges afghans to rise up. He also stopped by here earlier today, a tented camp in a kabul park. Thousands displaced by fighting in northern provinces when the taliban advanced towards kabul. Displacement, drought, hunger. Afghanistan was confronting a major humanitarian crisis even before the taliban took power. Now, the needs of this nation pose an urgent test for the international community and the taliban. Shafiqa tells me she lost her husband in this war. Now she worries the taliban wont let her work to support four children. What should we eat, what should we do . At kabul airport, before he left, mr griffiths told us he stressed the rights of women in his talks here. The international community needs to know that there is a genuine will on the part of the authorities to adhere to these principles, to understand them and to learn about them over time. Ive heard good words here, but none of us believe only in the value of words. Many now wait to see what the taliban will do. Aid agencies, allies, most of all, afghans. The first step forming a government to start moving forward. Lyse doucet, Bbc News, kabul. Earlier i spoke to omar samad. He is the former Senior Advisor to dr abdullah abdullah, the chief executive of afghanistan up until the taliban takeover. I asked him if he thought this was the end of the resistance in panjshir region. It is the end of what this resistance was attempting to do which was to show the taliban that there is a strong will, that there is determination to not only stand up to the taliban, but also maybe convince them to agree to some of their terms. And i think that is where something is wrong. The taliban initially from 4 5 days ago according to my sources, said that they tried to convince Ahmad Massoud that it is best to have a dialogue, to lay down arms, and to engage in political talks. The other side has some specific demands. They were probably not met or they were premature, in terms of talks, and that unfortunately led to an escalation and the taliban moving in to the Panjshir Valley, and after 2 3 days of resistance, days of resistance, which from what the reports say has almost entirely has fallen now into taliban hands. Lets take that as the case. There have been protests elsewhere with women on the streets demanding their rights. What do you think the future is for women in that respect . Are you optimistic . I am cautiously pessimistic, meaning somewhat hoping that the taliban have learned from the past, that they understand not only is the international community concerned by reports as you said earlier about how women would be treated not only women but minorities, everybody in afghanistan, but that also the afghan people expect change in their worldview and their mindset, so the big test is going to come in the next few days, when they announce a new administration in kabul lets see if there are women at any level of government involved, whether women will have continued full access to education, which it seems they are, but it is not yet fully confirmed. And access to employment. All of these are big challenges and tests for the taliban to face at this point. You mentioned the announcement in the next couple of days of the government. Who do you think the taliban is working with and is talking to . Is there a concern here that they are not talking to people like yourself and the former administration . Initially they did talk to some of the leaders, political leaders that we have all known over the years, including president karzai, doctor abdullah, they have also reached out to many other of the political constituency, and the social and ethnic constituency of the country. They have, over the years, spoken to other afghans, but i think now we are in a different place. They are in the seat of power, and they are the ones who will have to decide, and in order to do so, lets not forget, they also have to be of the same mind themselves. So, if there are still differences within the taliban movement, that means that it is going to cause issues, when there is probably an extreme way and a more moderate way, theyll have to resolve the issues first, before others can easilyjoin them. Lets get some of the days other news. A court in belarus has given lengthy Prison Sentences to two key opposition figures who Led Protests against president lukashenko last year. Anna holligan, Bbc News, at schiphol airport. The Uk Government minister responsible for the next round of Global Climate Talks has been meeting officials in china. Alok sharma said he was there to discuss how to make sure the November Summit in glasgow is successful and with just eight weeks to go the pressure is on. Our science editor, david shukman, looks at the environmental challenges ahead for world leaders. Year after year, the countries of the world have gathered for huge conferences on climate change. Ive seen how a few have gone badly wrong, like In Copenhagen in 2009. Delegates walked out amid confusion and a lack of progress. Well, the first challenge is to get rapid cuts in emissions of the gases heating the planet, something that hasnt happened so far. Back in the early 90s, when climate negotiations started, about 35 Billion tonnes of Greenhouse Gases were being emitted into the atmosphere every year. And since then, despite all the talking, those emissions have just kept climbing. Now, with all the plans and promises to cut them, they could fall to about 46 Billion tonnes a year by 2030. But the science is incredibly clear that they need to come down far more than that if were to have any chance of heading off the worst effects of higher temperatures, which is why this is such a crucial issue for the talks in glasgow. Next, theres the highly sensitive question of financial help for the poorest countries. Delivering this is long overdue. Its developing nations like the philippines that are hardest hit by the violent weather made more frequent and intense by climate change. More than a decade ago, they were promised 100 Billion a year vital, they say, to help them adapt to more dangerous conditions. A third major challenge for glasgow is finalising the rules for measuring and trading carbon. Previous meetings failed to reach agreement. This matters because as countries cut their emissions, there needs to be a way of accounting for that. Likewise, if forests are left intact and the trees keep storing carbon, that has to be recorded so the Carbon Credits can be traded. So as glasgow prepares for thousands of delegates, theres a lot at stake. David shukman, Bbc News. Stay with us on Bbc News, still to come. Lets start with what has been promoted, most me. Lets start with what has | been promoted, most people me. Lets start with what has been promoted, most people have heard of bitcoin, the Crypto Currency but there are lots of other smaller ones, and that is what Kim Kardashian was promoting. fist what Kim Kardashian was promoting what Kim Kardashian was romotin. . , promoting. At the latest count there are 11,704 promoting. At the latest count there are 11,704 crypto there are 11,701; Crypto Currencies in existence. Ethereum max, which Kim Kardashian was promoting isnt actually even a big Crypto Currency. At the time it is now 3162nd in the rankings. So, we are not talking about a major Crypto Currency here. And the confusion could be that Ethereum Max could be conflated with ethereum which is the second biggest Crypto Currency at the time youre talking right now. Ultimately there are two issues here, first we have these celebrities are endorsing Crypto Currencies which have not been tested and secondly the Crypto Currencies can have a name which is very similar to the major Crypto Currencies that are out there. It the major Crypto Currencies that are out there. That are out there. It does seem like that are out there. It does seem like a that are out there. It does seem like a strange that are out there. It does i seem like a strange strategic decisions. Kim kardashian obviously very wealthy and well known for doing these ads and things like that. Why choose such a relatively small and obscure project to work with . That is a very good question indeed. I can imagine that influencers as paid substantial amounts of money, of course, the exact amounts are difficult to verify, but even obscure Crypto Currency process can have an influx of money injected into them, often by people who are very keen to get involved in the Crypto Currencies. They may not necessarily know what they are doing, and as a result of that these Crypto Currency projects have money spent and often times, if they can, they will get endorsements from high profile celebrities. I think you hit on something. Crypto Currency And Trading is perfectly legitimate in lots of ways, lots of sophisticated investors do it and do well out of it, but it is a hugely risky thing to do if you dont know what you are doing. Thing to do if you dont know what you are doing. Indeed it is. It is worth what you are doing. Indeed it is. It is worth noting what you are doing. Indeed it is. It is worth noting that what you are doing. Indeed it is. It is worth noting that 2. 3| is. It is worth noting that 2. 3 million people in the uk do earn Crypto Currencies, according to the financial conduct authority. The difficulty that we have is with that speech in which the Fca Boss mentioned Kim Kardashian, we saw this Catch 22 are emerging because, at the moment, the fca has not got authority from parliament to regulate Crypto Currencies, and so, they cannot do anything at the moment. They could, if they did regulate Crypto Currencies, the other danger is that they could actually be in a situation where they cant keep up situation where they cant keep up with the Crypto Industry because things are moving very fast, changing all the time, and there is a real dilemma at the moment because many crypto projects are decentralised, and when crypto projects are decentralised, you dont have a single person to deal with, you dont have a single person heading up the project that you can talk to, and this is a real issue for regulators, and they have spoken for a long time about wanting to regulate crypto, but at the moment there doesnt seem to be a tangible way in which they can do that. It is a fascinating issue. Thank you for coming on. The actor Michael K Williams has been found dead at his home in new york. He was 5a. Well, the warm southerly winds have arrived and a dose of Summer Heat is on the way. But its not going to last for very long. Yes, a very warm and sunny tuesday on the way, but from wednesday onwards, late on wednesday, we could have thunderstorms in the southwest of the uk brought by this area of low pressure. But for the time being, High Pressure over us, and notjust over the uk but much of europe. And heres that warm air coming in from the south, spreading across the uk. So the early hours look pretty quiet across much of the country. There will be some Mist And Fog forming, maybe northern wales, merseyside, lancashire. And mild, if not quite warm, 15, 16, 17 degrees around dawn. And the temperatures will quickly skyrocket as we go through the morning and into the afternoon. Now, its going to be sunshine pretty much all around, although across some far northwestern parts of the country, it could be a little hazy and cloudy. And much cooler in stornoway, 18 degrees, but the mid 20s for the lowlands of scotland, 27 for yorkshire, 30 possible in the midlands. And if we do get 30, which we are very likely to get 30, it will be the hottest day since the 23rd ofjuly, after a relatively cool august, because the temperatures never really got that high during august a little unusual. So this is what it looks like on wednesday, the weather map. You can see a low pressure approaching us, Weather Fronts here too. These are showers and thunderstorms reaching southwestern parts of england and also wales, some showers getting into Northern Ireland too, but the rest of the country is still basking in that Summer Sunshine temperatures just shy of 30 degrees, i think, on wednesday. I mean, they could reach 30 once again, but look at that, plymouth there, cornwall and devon, only around 19 degrees. And then Wednesday Night into thursday, those showers spread across the country. There could be some showers and thunderstorms almost anywhere, really. And on thursday itself, you can see its much fresher across the uk. Some of that warmth is still left around Lincolnshire And East anglia, but the vast majority of us are back into the low 20s. So heres the summary and the outlook. You can see that weather going downhill as we go through the second half of the week. And the weekend . The weathers set fair. Modest temperatures, around the low 20s. Bye bye. This is Bbc News.
