Hello and welcome if you re watching in the uk or around the world. We begin in afghanistan where the Resistance Leader Ahmad massoud says he is ready for Peace Talks to end fighting in the pansjhir valley. The Northern Province of panjshir is two hours from the capital kabul, and is now the only region not controlled by the taliban. They claim they have reached panjshir s provincial capital, after securing the surrounding districts. But massouds national Resistance Front disputes this. Posting on facebook, Mr Massoud said that to reach a lasting peace, the nrf is ready to stop fighting on condition that taliban also stop their attacks and military movements on panjshir and andarab, a district in a neighboring province. Its not clear if the taliban are likely to agree to the truce proposal. In islamabad is pakistani journalist and analyst, haroon rashid. He gave me his assessment of the situation in the panjshir valley. Initially, the taliban did offer negotiations to Ahmad Massoud when they lay siege to his panjshir valley, but talks at that time mediated by some villages scholars did not succeed. So, i think now that there are reports that maybe one faction is having more success on the battlefield than the other, that Ahmad Massoud is now realising that maybe its not sustainable for him because the circumstances on the ground are not like his fathers situation. He is not supported by any major international power. I mean, the Northern Province that the Northern Alliance of his father used to rule were good for his supplies. They are not with them, they are with the taliban, so he is encircled. So i think it now depends what conditions he lays down and whether they are acceptable to the taliban or not. This might, then, bring us closer to the announcement of a taliban government, and what challenges do you think are key there . I think the biggest challenges within the taliban. I mean, we see taliban as one big organisation, militant organisation, but it is not. It is comprised of several factions within it Haqqani Network being one of the biggest ones and then there are the other ones as well. So i think the delay, i mean, the 31st of August Withdrawal date gave the taliban a convenient date or some time to negotiate an internal, sort of, a consensus on a new government, but now that were five days down the road and still no government announcement, it shows that there are problems within the taliban factions, because some claim that they have sacrificed, made huge sacrifices in the last 20 years, and they have been successful on the battleground, so they need a major chunk of the government. Then another problem is the policies, because whoever takes the government to charge will have to defend their policies, whether they want womens rights to be accepted or not. So, i mean, the foot soldiers amongst the taliban are also not happy if the. If the taliban dilutes their policies too much of the Sharia Demand and things like that, so there are, i mean, several factors that are in play at the moment, and i think they are finding it really difficult to come up with a Consensus Government within the group. Elsewhere in afghanistan a heavily pregnant Police Officer has been shot dead by armed men inside her home. Witnesses said Banu Negar had been beaten the previous day, after taking down a taliban flag. The taliban have told the bbc they had no involvement in her death and are investigating. Across the country, people are adapting to life under the new regime. Gfx Map 0ur Correspondent Secunder Kermani has travelled from the capital, kabul, to the province of loh gar, our Correspondent Secunder Kermani has travelled from the capital, kabul, to the province of logar, from where he sent this report. Theyve grown up along the Front Line but their first taste of peace is bittersweet. In the final weeks of the war, government forces flattened in these houses after coming underfire flattened in these houses after coming under fire from flattened in these houses after coming underfire from taliban fighters somewhere nearby. The home of The School Clean Up was closest to the army base. It is nowjust a pile of rubble. The Afghan Army frequently accuse the taliban firing from residential areas. Eitherway, civilians have often been caught in the middle of this conflict. Everywhere we go in this conflict. Everywhere we go in this village, people are trying to show signs of the wall, where the army used to fire down on the bazaar where the taliban used to be based, the Ceiling Hit by bullets, that shop over there hit by a rocket. This man saying to come with him. The signs of destruction might not look that much but they had a devastating impact on peoples mice. Now youve got peace but what of the challenges you have here . And we are here and i dont see any women around us, is that because of the taliban . In more conservative areas like this, social attitudes do align more closely with those of the taliban. What local women think it remains unclear. Elsewhere today, a female Police Officer was allegedly killed by the taliban, theyd they denied that. By the time we arrive, the local Girl School has already closed for the day. Across much of the country, classes are taking place, but for now only for primary pupils. This Village Boy School is under resourced and overcrowded. With most taught outside. In the past, lessons would often be interrupted by classes, the interval tells me interrupted by clashes, with children powering inside classrooms. Cowering. In villages like this, and into the violence was the biggest privacy. But so many other challenges still remain. An end to the violence was the biggest priority. Will the taliban be able to take them on . Secundar kermani, Bbc News, logar province. More from him and our other reporters on the Bbc News website. The Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding has died at the age of 39 she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year. She was part of one of the most successful british female bands of all time formed on a reality show, they went on to have 21 top 10 hits. Sarah hardings Mother Marie described her as a bright shining star, and her Band Mate Nadine coyle said she was absolutely devastated. Our Enterainment Correspondent Lizo mzimba looks back at her life. His report contains some Flashing Images after three months of competition, the moment her dream came true. Sarah. Cheering. But Sarah Harding could scarcely have imagined the success that would follow. Every one of their first 16 singles a top ten hit. Thanks to a collection of irresistibly catchy songs, they were soon selling thousands of singles. Sound of the underground. And performing to sold out audiences. If i had a promise from you. Sarah brought powerful vocals and a willingness to be portrayed. Makes me wanna break the rules . As the bands most outrageous personality, the headline grabbing party girl. She also acted in coronation street. Actually, i dont suppose by any chance you know a Tracy Barlow . And the second of the st trinian s movies. I predict a riot, i predict a Riot J has it been fun . Its been great fun. We have a real giggle, actually, in between takes. We really are naughty schoolgirls. We have to be kept getting told, girls, Shut Up Nadine Coyle led the tributes, saying she was absolutely devastated. And Pop Starsjudge Pete waterman paid his tribute this afternoon. She was a Girl Next Door who had got it all. She was identifiable by the audience that are going to buy her records. That was the beauty of sarah. When the singer discovered an enlarged Lymph Node just before covid began, the pandemic was a factor in her delaying seeking treatment. Breast cancer is, in fact, a very curable illness if its diagnosed early, but the unfortunate thing in Sarahs Case is that she was diagnosed with stage four Breast Cancer where it had already spread to her body. And you can only survive it for as long as the treatments are helping and stalling the Breast Cancer from spreading further. Sarah and the other four members of Girls Aloud went their separate ways in 2013, but not before theyd entertained fans for the best part of a decade. Sarah harding was a crucial part of the group. A woman who achieved so much in a Life Cut short at such a young age. Sarah hardings illness has focused attention on Breast Cancer awareness and the difficulty of obtaining treatment during the coronavirus pandemic. Our Health Correspondent Catherine burns has more on her case. We know it was around the time of the pandemic that she got her first symptom. Now, this is pain in her breast which is something thats not seen by itself as a side of Breast Cancer, normally. Shes described the pain as overwhelming, though she was saying that was stopping her sleeping at night, that she was taking so many painkillers to try to manage it, but she was trying to convince herself it was just a Cyst Or Something harmless. Now, that coupled with the fact there was a pandemic, they were in lockdown, this meant she was delayed in getting to the doctor. So, it was last august when she announced to the public that she had cancer, and by then it had spread to other parts of her body. By Last Christmas she knew that it was terminal, that that christmas was going to be her last one. So what happened is that, you know, the delay didnt help her in any way there, because what we know about Breast Cancer is its the most common cancer in the uk, one in seven women will be diagnosed at some stage, and for most of them the Survival Rates are really good 85 are expected to survive at least five years. But, with any cancer, the earlier you catch it the more likely you are to recover. A former aide to Prince Charles, the heir to the british throne, has temporarily stepped down as Chief Executive of the princes foundation. It follows accusations that he helped secure an honour for a major saudi donor. Newspaper reports claim Mr Fawcett coordinated support for the businessman, Mahfouz Marei Mubarek Bin Mahfouz. Mr mahfouz, who denies any wrongdoing, is reported to have donated large sums to projects of interest to Prince Charles. Simonjones reports. For decades, Michael Fawcett was the aide with the answers to the princes problems. Mr fawcett, did you secure honours for cash . Any comment on the allegations in the newspapers this morning . Is the Sunday Times story true . This morning, he wasnt taking questions. Hes accused of promising to help this wealthy Saudi Businessman Mahfouz marei mubarak Bin Mahfouz to get british citizenship and an honour in exchange for donations to the princes charities. He was the Princes Valet until 2003 but he was more than just a servant. A controversial figure at the palace, he won the loyalty of Prince Charles. Twice he left the prince twice he came back. Until yesterday, the Chief Executive of the princes foundation. Today, a former minister said there were questions to answer. Well, Michael Fawcett has been forced to resign twice already. And both times under cover of darkness, almost he was reinstated by Prince Charles when the Hoo Ha had died down. So Prince Charles is very, very closely linked with this man and im sure that whatever Michael Fawcett did would have been done with the full support of Prince Charles. Prince charles needs to answer questions about this, not Michael Fawcett. The foundation said it takes very seriously the allegations that had recently been brought to its attention and the matter is currently under investigation. Mr Bin Mahfouz said he expected no reward for his charitable donations. A source close to the prince told the bbc that Prince Charles was not aware of any link between donations to his charities and honours or british citizenship. Michael fawcett has temporarily stepped down from his position. Jonny dymond, Bbc News. Sport and for a full round up, from the Bbc Sport Centre, heresjohn watson. Hi, john. Hello and welcome. Chaotic scenes as. Brazil and Argentinas World Cup Qualifier has been suspended after play was brought to a halt just minutes after kick off after brazilian Health Officials objected to the participation of three argentine players they believe broke quarantine rules. The visitors walked off the pitch at the Corinthians Arena after the officials came out to stop the game. The intervention came hours after Brazils Health authorities had said four England Based Players for argentina had to quarantine. Although it did not name the four, the players with English Premier league clubs are emiliano Buendia And Emiliano martinez of Aston Villa and Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero of tottenham hotspur. Martinez, Lo Celso and romero all started the game in sao paulo. Im joined now by South American Football expert tim vickery. Hello to you. What is the latest, and in these exceptionally bizarre circumstances . Why on earth did they choose to come out after the game had got under way . Had got under way . Because the Health Authority had got under way . Because the Health Authority officials had got under way . Because the Health Authority officials have i had got under way . Because the i Health Authority officials have been waiting for some position from the brazilian government, some kind of waiver, as happened injune when brazil hosted the corporate america. That waiver was not forthcoming and when the players left and went in the quarantine that the Health Officials had asked them to be and i am told by brazilian tv that argentina had locked the Dressing Room Door and the Health Officials then couldnt Gain Access to the Dressing Room beforehand and so instead they made their way round to the pitch and after about five minutes of quite intense action the Health Authority officials wandered onto the field and put a stop to proceedings saying that those three players would have to immediately be deported or enter quarantine, the three who were playing, martin is the goalkeeper of villa, and romero of tottenham. The Argentina Position had been before the game we will only play this match with those players and they felt that they have a Back Up from South Americas E Wafer Equivalent so once they have the Health Officials that walked on and effectively prevented those players from playing, argentina walked off the field and after a little bit of negotiation it became clear that the match was not going to go ahead today. They look at the moment, brazil is taking advantage of the situation to host a glorified Training Session and they have another game coming up at home to peru but this one of the great occasions in World Football Brazil and argentina has been vented this day into an absolute farce. Id like to the brazilian authorities feel that they should have been made to quarantine on their revival, those for english based players. From the argentinian side of things they felt that there was a wave and that had been agreed. That there was a wave and that had been agreed been agreed. Well, these are the rules in brazil been agreed. Well, these are the rules in brazil in been agreed. Well, these are the rules in brazil in the been agreed. Well, these are the rules in brazil in the same been agreed. Well, these are the rules in brazil in the same way i been agreed. Well, these are the i rules in brazil in the same way that brazil is on the Red List for the uk. That is reciprocated. It is not reciprocated for brazilians, so brazilians who have been in the uk dont need to quarantine but Non Brazilians do. There have been, it seems, in this situation, no planning. It is bizarre to think that there hadnt been any planning to foresee this situation. Absolutely bizarre. Football in South America has gone ahead. There are considerable Travel Restrictions for normal citizens in South America. Football has received a waiver but that waiver does not extend to people coming from the uk unless there is a special last Minute Dispensation from the government and it seems that that didnt happen today. Fascinating stuff and usually bizarre scenes there in brazil. For the moment our expert and you just wonder what ramifications that could have for those players now looking to return to play for their Premier League clubs in england but there we go. It in there. That is all from the Bbc Sport Centre so know it is back to you. John, thank you. What a story. The first few hundred thousand doses of the Pfizer Vaccine that uk has agreed to supply to australia have arrived in sydney. The extra Four Million doses are part of australias most dr Chris Moy, the Vice President of australian medical association, says australia needs to up its Vaccination Levels quickly. So, in australia we have been pretty unscathed so far for so long. Due to a combination of lack, because we are an island, but also very good Decision Making so far. We have really been able to live a very blissful life until quite recently and then delta has really changed the game as it has across the world but we will now need to get those Vaccination Levels up to really good levels. We are really only getting about 38 fully vaccinated at around 50 to present one vaccination across the country and we really need to get those up to number is closer to the uk to get to safety. We felt in an Emergency Situation early this year and also there was a combination of the fact that we rely a lot on astrazeneca, which we are making in australia. However, there became this hesitancy in australia because of that very, very rare thrombotic condition which unfortunately became disproportionate to the level of risk, particularly in the place where there much coded. Finally, the thing was that the mrna vaccines really have been diverted to countries where they are most needed earlier this year, where there have been catastrophic numbers of cases in deaths and they really only come online now. It is a combination of those things having many cases, relatively slow in approving them and then the combination of hesitancy because of the Astrazeneca Situation and then delays getting mrna has led us into this situation. Doctor Chris Moy theyre talking about the australian situation with the Covid I9 pandemic. There is a lot more on the website about continue in Corona Virus stories, not least the Story Thatjohn has just been telling us about that Brazil Argentina Match and the bizarre circumstances under which it had to be abandoned. Thanks for being with a seven Bbc News. Now its time for a look at the weather with louise. For most of the day of welcome sunshine and warmth, with temperatures we havent seen since july. There will be some cloud and temperatures heavy for a time because the far North And West and this is the Radar Picture throughout the afternoon affecting the far North And West of scotland and Northern Ireland. Some of that heavy at times but welcome rain here. Some of the areas have got Water Restrictions due to the lack of summer rainfall. Now, that the Weather Front will continue to drift its way south out of the borders and we can all the time. It is the Dividing Line between more cloud through the night to the north of that but we could see some patchy Mist And Fog forming particularly across South Wales and south West England to a murky start here but lots of early Morning Sunshine across england and wales is expected. Light patchy rain will tend to ease. There will be a little bit more cloud generally through scotland and Northern Ireland for Monday Afternoon but those winds quite light and coming from a southerly direction of the majority of the country so it will be warm with it. Temperatures may well peak at 27 degrees. That is 80 fahrenheit. As we move out of monday into tuesday its a similar story. Still under this influence of high Pressure Way over into the near continent. We got this area of low pressure drifting in from the south west and what that is going to do is feed in more of a South Easterly Flow so warm, dry air dominating the Weather Story through tuesday and that means warmer skill for the majority of the country. Why sunshine coming through. Even the closures start to thin and break through Eastern Scotland on tuesday said temperatures here perhaps into the Mid 20s but we should seating which is peaking at 28, maybe 29 celsius In The South East by tuesday.
