Naomi 0saka broke down in tears at her first Press Conference since pulling out of Teh French Open for mental health reasons. The four time grand Slam Winner was threatened with expulsion from Roland Garros after declaring she wouldnt fulfil her media duties. She missed wimbledon, competed at the olympics and in her first Press Conference in almost three months at the Cinccinnati 0pen became emotional when asked about her difficulties in facing the media. When you say im not crazy about dealing with you guys, what does that refer to . Well, you said you dont especially like the Press Conference format. Yet that seems to be the, obviously, the most widely used means of communicating to the media and through the media to the public. Hm, thats interesting. Um, i would say the occasion, like when to do the Press Conferences, is what i feel is the most difficult. Andy murray is into the second round in cincinnatti, he withdrew from the singles at the tokyo 0lympics. Murray, who has won the tournament twice, completed a straight Sets Victory over richard gasquet. Its the first Singles Match hes played since his third Round Defeat at wimbledon six weeks ago and a good gauge of his form. When he retuned after his Resurfacing Operation at this event two years ago, he lost to the same opponent in the opening round. I thought i did well. I think i moved pretty well for my first Singles Match in a while, on the hard courts. Certainly, a little bit more confidence in my movement than i did when i played him here a couple of years ago. Its the first match ive played since i had, Singles Match, since ive had the Metal Hip put in, so i was a bit apprehensive and he, you know, he uses all of the angles on the court really well and makes you move a lot. So you need to move well against him and i did that tonight. Heather watson is also through to the second round of the womens event. She won in three sets against belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich and plays World Number one Ash Barty next. Englands top Order Batsmen find their places in the Test Team at risk after their collapse against india. The second test was lost when they were bowled out forjust 120. Both openers failed to score, and coach Chris Silverwood accepts changes may have to be made. Id rather get somebody have so many chances and not enough and we have invested in people. But at the same time clearly i dont want to start wrapping things up. At some point you have to think manoeuvring things a little bit and find something that works. From my Point Of View i have to be open minded but i might have to be open minded but i might have to keep my mind my eyes open to it. As weve been hearing, british efforts to evacuate people to safety from afghanistan to the uk are being stepped up with the aim being to bring out as many as 7,000. But one british citizen who is refusing to leave is pen farthing, a former Royal Marine Commando and the Ceo And Founder of nowzad, an animal Rights Charity in kabul. He told us he wont be leaving his staff behind. We have 25 afghan nationals who are the most positive, vibrant people who absolutely love Theirjob And Love working here in afghanistan. Including among your staff, a number of women as well . Indeed, yeah. We have the first ever female afghan nationals who are fully qualified veterinarians and they are just young women, they were about five or six years old when the taliban were removed from power back in the 90s, back in 2000. So they have never experienced life under the taliban which they are now about to do. How scared are they right now about what is happening around them . I dont think there are words to describe what they are feeling right now. I have tried to talk to them, we have tried to discuss the possibilities. What do you say to somebody who is going to be told that they will probably have to marry a taliban fighter and they will end upjust living at home, never being allowed to leave and just raising children with somebody they absolutely detest. I dont have words to describe what we have just done to this country. The west, and i include all the western governments this, im notjust trying to pick on britain here, America In particular cos they are the ones who started the slide into despair, we should hang our heads in shame for what we have just done to this country. We gave people hope, aspirations, dreams forthe future. In a matter of weeks, we havejust ripped them from them and its just. I am lost from words. I am truly ashamed of what we have just done. There is No One who can ever tell me now that we achieve something in afghanistan, because for the last 20 years, we have got women into school, Security Rich troops brought into afghanistan allowed all those schools to open. Now it has all gone. Its going to go. And those things that you have just mentioned, Dominic Raab citing morning, for example, the reduction in the infant mortality rate, getting girls into school. And he was citing those as achievements. Do you believe that any of those achievements will last under the taliban in 2021, going forward . I mean is this an organisation, as far as you concern, that is exactly the same as it was back in the 1990s . I truly believe that right now, that the taliban now, they have won. They know the eyes of The World are watching them. But in, in a month, two months, the international community will be gone, they americans will have left the airport, there will be nobody watching them. And if they do go back to their ways, No One is coming to intervene in afghanistan again. I think the west has learned finally for the first time that afghanistan, you know, you just do not interfere internally in afghanistan without making solid commitments. We had the opportunity to bring the taliban to the peace negotiating table, to actually have a solid agreement of a way forward, working with the afghan government. We didnt even include the afghan government in the Peace Negotiations with the taliban. Who made. Who actually thought that was a good idea . The soldiers that we lost, we lost two marines in helmand, we lost a50 british serving soldiers here. In america, thousands. Every single one of those lives was in vain. New zealand is at the start of a three day national lockdown, after the discovery of the countrys first locally Transmitted Covid Case for six months. But restrictions will last for a week in auckland, where the case was detected. New zealands prime minister, jacinda ardern, said the government is taking action to ensure the virus cant spread. Public Health Officials have been working at pace this afternoon to gather information on the case and their movements and i will pass to Dr Bloomfield shortly to set out the facts as we currently know them, including locations of interest that have been identified so far. But first i want to assure New Zealand that we have planned for this eventuality, and that we will now be putting in place that plan to contain and stamp out covid 19 once again. 0ur Correspondent in sydney Shaimaa Khalil gave us more details. They have always had an Elevation Policies and Snap Lock tends to contain outbreaks and that one is no different. Interestingly there is then used sydney at as an example of what happens when you dont get on top of the outbreak and their cases spread. The number of cases yet remain stubbornly high and she said we dont what happened in sydney to happen in New Zealand. There are a couple of things that worry Health Officials. There are a couple of things that are worrying Health Officials. One, that they dont know that this is the Delta Variant but they are assuming that this case is. And the other is that they cannot link it to a chain of transmission. They Cant Link it to hotel quarantine, they Cant Link it to overseas travel, which means that there could be close contacts and there could be exposure sites, so they are going in and they are going hard. The prime minister used herfamous phrase of, the team of 500 Million should unite again to contain this outbreak. Of course as well, the fact that Vaccination Numbers have been about 20 of people have been vaccinated. They have been trying to ramp these numbers out. It will take a couple of days to make sure this is happening safely. They want to contain the outbreak, make sure they trace all the close contacts to make sure that the Delta Variant, if it is, does not spread quickly. Bob dylan is being sued in a new York Court by a woman who alleges he sexually abused her in 1965 when she was 12 years old. The woman whos not been named claims she was plied with drugs and alcohol and threatened with violence over a six week period. The american Singer Songwrite strongly denies the allegations. 0ur Correspondent Lizo Mzimba has more details about the lawsuit. In 1965, between april and may, Bob Dylan groomed this unnamed victim, only known asjc, plied her with alcohol, drugs and threats of violence with the intention of sexually abusing her over that two month period. The lawsuit said he exploited his status as a musician to providejc, who is the unnamed complainant, with drugs and alcohol over a six week period, leaving her emotionally scarred and psychologically damaged to this day. This has been brought in the new York Supreme Court under the new York Child Victims Act which legal experts say is something that is temporarily lifted the statute of limitations on complainants saying that they were abused when they were children, when they were minors. So that was filed on friday in that court and we now have to wait and see what happens during this legal process. This all happened allegedly in 1965, when Bob Dylan was in his mid 20s. The year that he brought out his album bring it all back home, which topped the charts here. A very popular album from of course one of The Worlds best known singers, performers, winner of the Nobel Prize For Literature in recent years. Now its time to hear some of the stories making the news across the uk. Well start with a report from bbc wales today. A male victim of coercive control says not being taken seriously by police felt like another form of gaslighting, a form of emotional abuse that makes the victim question their own thoughts. The Man Claims Evidence Wasnt examined, and witnesses werent interviewed. It comes as charities say better awareness is needed of this relatively new crime. Our home Affairs Correspondent Jenny Rees reports. Punishment, humiliation, intimidation, threats. Coercive control can take many forms. Its nearly six years since this type of domestic abuse was made a crime. But charities say work is still needed to raise awareness of what it entails and who can be affected. People who dont understand what coercive control is, it can be more damaging than a violent attack because the psychological abuse can be for life. We spoke to two male victims. We havent named them for their protection. The detail is different but each shared common themes. Each resulted in post traumatic Stress Disorder and suicidal thoughts. Their words have been spoken by a member of our team. She gained control of my money but if i objected shed say, dont you trust me . She robbed me of my independence and slowly undermined my confidence with constant little put downs. In social situations shed whisper in my ear, you sound like an idiot. One of the men said after years of abuse he went to the police but was told no further action would be taken. He claims evidence was not examined and witnesses werent interviewed. Its just a form of Gas Lighting because they told me i hadnt been in a coercive control relationship. Its another form of abuse. The number of these crimes recorded is growing but research suggests men will typically wait years before reaching out for help. If the victim isnt believed and their experience is invalidated straightaway that can be very, very damaging and when we are stereotyping, like men dont go to the doctors, men dont ask for help, they have to man up, all of that is there in our heads and in society. But that can make such a difference just talking to someone. Governments in wales and westminster are working to support victims and tackle domestic abuse. The Home Office says it also expects all forces to take these allegations seriously. At a time when Hospital Emergency departments are overwhelmed by demand, a number of Front Line projects are helping reduce the number of young people making repeat visits to a e. The Navigator Project in reading has been running for two months, staffed by volunteers, but is proving so successful It Plans to expand. Alastair fee reports. Its another busy night in a e. Tonight doctors and nurses have an extra pair of hands. Theyre called navigators. Its a way of reaching those who are hardest to reach, reaching those who are involved in Violence Or Risk taking behaviour, and then helping them access the support in the wider community to prevent them from coming back in. They meet a young man who has been having suicidal thoughts. An hour and a half is spent talking with him, way more than clinicians could spare on a busy shift. So, we do mentoring in a e, and so meeting young people like yourself. Bex is a criminal lawyer by trade and wants to stop the cycle of offending and harm shes seen. What interests me about it is diverting people away from that cycle of being in the criminaljustice system, and seeing the same client again and again because actually their problems, they dont really get help with their problems. This one to one support first started outside in the community. After years of anti social behaviour, it has helped rees turn his life around. It made me change, im my own person now, i. Think a bit more about how i can change myself and help other people if they need help. The navigators are all volunteers. So far they have enough people to staff friday and Saturday Nights in hospitals across the thames valley. They need extra people so they can reach more in need. The demand for this care is expected to continue to rise. Alastair fee, bbc south today. Jodie comer is no stranger to a national Television Award or indeed a bafta or an emmy thanks to her starring role as villanelle in the Bbc Drama killing eve. Shes also on the big screen at the moment, in the Fantasy Action Comedy free guy. Louise minchin caught up with the actress via videolink. Lets talk about the movie first of all. Its called free guy. Captain khakis, come here. Lets go. Closer. There he is. Blue shirt guy. Blue shirt, yes. Hello, officer. Rabbit. The film is split into kind of two parts, one is the real world, one is a video game. And its about this character called guy who is, he thinks he is in the real world but hes actually an npc, hes a Background Character in an open world video game. 0k, npc stands for a. Non playable character. Right. So hes just in the background, you know, kind of stuck in the cycle of doing the same thing every day. And he starts to get these feelings of, you know, there has to be more to this. And i play milly, who is a Games Programmer in the real world and she has an avatar called Molotov Girl and thats how i meet guy in the video game. Tell us a little bit about working with ryan reynolds. I mean, hes everything you think hes going to be and more. Hes really, really wonderful. We should definitely go. Is that a glock in your pocket . No. What . Its two glocks. I met him initially for my first audition, and i actually flew to New York the day after wed wrapped on season two of killing eve. So i was a little bit of a zombie. But he was wonderful, it was him and sean, and he, you know, he creates a really fun, relaxed atmosphere, and is always kind of making sure that everyone is having a good time and everyone feels safe and is happy. Ive seen you posting on insta, for example, you might be on set but your mum still gets you sunday dinner, is that right . Yeah, well, i was lucky enough, we were filming in liverpool at the start of the year and i never, ive never really gotten the opportunity to do that. And we were shooting a film called help for channel 4, and, yeah, my mum does a Roast Dinner every sunday and we were working on sundays and i asked my driver, i was like, will you please, do you mind picking up my Roast Dinnerfrom home . And the legend, he did, and i got to eat it on set. And of course i had to show it off to everyone because i was so happy, i was so smug i know that you were at school and are still friends with katarina johnson thompson, for example. Yeah. Oh, my gosh, did you watch her . That must have been really tough as a friend. I know well, ive been doing press for the past couple of days so i was kind of locked away in a room, but we were speaking to all the girls on whatsapp, and everyone was keeping each other up to date. But, yeah, i heard shes home soon, were all planning to kind of get her in our arms and hopefully she can kind of let her hair down and relax for a little while. But we are all just so fiercely, fiercely proud of her. So much going on with you, not least season four of killing eve. What can we look forward to . I cant Say Anything we are halfway through, is what i can say. The series gets off to a very interesting start, you know, theres a particular episode for villanelle that we really kind of break some boundaries with her. Theyre really pushing the boat out. We know this is the final season now so i think its kind of like, anything goes in a way. So that was really fun. But, yeah, im sworn to secrecy so im going to shut up before i say any more. Final question, do you like villanelle . I love her i love her. Ive spent so much time with her and i think im going to miss getting away with all that trouble and not having to apologise for it and not having to feel guilty for anything. You know, that kind of mischief. And also just being on the set and being in really absurd situations. Its so weird but its so fun. Now its time for a look at the weather with darren bett.
