Good morning to you, thats absolutely morning to you, thats absolutely right. We have a real mixed bag out there through the course of the weekend. Some of us are going to continue to see those pockets of sunshine, but the other areas there is a bit of rain moving its way in from the west. A real mixed bag of whether through the weekend. We have already had some of that ran across parts of scotland, you see the Shower Cloud here, and we have this Figure Area of cloud moving on from The Atlantic. This is an area of low pressure, not particularly active one, not a particularfast pressure, not particularly active one, not a particular fast moving one, not a particular fast moving one, just pushing it in way and gradually from the west. It will bring Thickening Cloud across england and wales, some patchy rain for wales through the course of the morning and for scotland we have heavy showers continuing but they will tend to ease away later on this afternoon. So some sunshine through the centre about later this afternoon, Clouding Over across Northern Ireland and Northern England, rain moving through the south later on. A bit of patchy rain lingering for perhaps north wales, the north midlands towards the likes of lincolnshire as well, but most places looking dry, best of The Sunshine towards the far South East where temperatures will reach around 2324, but where temperatures will reach around 23 24, but most of us typically about 16 20, 23 24, but most of us typically about16 20, quite 23 24, but most of us typically about 16 20, quite a bit of cloud out there through the day. Into the evening and overnight some rain continuing to Northern Ireland, parts of Northern England, perhaps into Southern Scotland by The End of the night, a few showers across parts of wales as well. Still quite mild and humid in the South East, 1415 mild and humid in the South East, 11l 15 overnight, but we are likely to see temperatures dropping into single figures across northern England And Scotland as well. Tomorrow this area of low pressure still with us, edging its way eastwards, so quite a lot of Weather Fronts around. They will produce some outbreaks of rain, initially the parts of Northern Ireland and Northern England, you can see this line of rain, further showers across the north of scotland there will be quite breezy at times, and patchy Rain And Drizzle into wales and South West as well. Parts of the South East have a dry day with sunshine, 23 2a celsius, things are turning a little more cool so the mid high teens further north. Very hot further south, particularly for spain through the weekend. For us here in the uk we have this Cooler Air starting to work in from the North West. By the time we get to monday that Cool Air will spill across the uk. Some sunshine here and there but one or two isolated showers, and temperatures on monday not quite as warm as the weekend. 15 20 not quite as warm as the weekend. 15 20 degrees on monday, if you have got plans, outdoor plans for the coming week, whether its the coming week, whether its remaining largely dry and settled, perhaps the odd shower around, a lot of weather, bridges not particularly high for this time of year. Every year, thousands of tourists visit the coastline of yorkshire to see the colonies of seals that live there, but a surge in Visitor Numbers could be putting them under threat. Interesting, we were talking about wally the walrus, and people being told to stay away from him as well and just let them be, because they are beautiful things to see, but obviously. Not naturalfor are beautiful things to see, but obviously. Not natural for them to interact with us. We will have the headlines for you at seven oclock. Now its time for a newsbeat documentary, clubbing we lost dancing. Weve lost dancing. Covid has meant this has been the view on the Dance Floor. Weve lost dancing. Venues like this have been closed now for over a year. The question is, as everything starts to open up, will the clubbers want to come back . When the clubs reopen, the appetite will still always be there, and we will run straight into the club when we can. And i dont think thatll go anywhere. The government dont understand what we do. They think about a d] as someone last orders at the bar, and all that stuff. Totally dated view, and everything. The interaction between yourself and the Dance Floor, thats what djing is all about. But will that be gone forever for some because of the pandemic . 16 months ago, this was just a normal weekend. Now, it seems kind of alien. After over 500 days, im left wondering if weve lost dancing. In march last year, the Prime Minister made an announcement that would have a huge impact. We are collectively telling, telling cafes, clubs, bars and restaurants to close. We are also telling nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms, and Leisure Centres to close on the same timescale. In a matter of seconds, djs used to playing to thousands lost their connection with their fans. When borisjohnson made that announcement, clubs were expected to be closed for a few weeks. More than a year on, like most venues across the country, the welly in hull is yet to reopen. Hi there, how are you . Yeah, im all right. Welcome to rainy hull. It nearly disappeared entirely when the pandemic hit saved by aaron mellor, who owns a number of venues across the north of england. Totally as it was left when you had your last night here . Yeah, i mean, we didnt own the space when we had last night here, but when it had its last night, nobody really. Door opens loudly. Its always look like this, just a lot darker. Yeah, lets switch the lights off. Laughter. Yeah, but the idea is to keep it pretty much the same as it is, you know . Venues like this are grassroots Music Venues, so you know. If it had a carpet, it would be a sticky carpet. Thats very much part of the atmosphere. Its been run by terry spoma, whos been putting on nights here since the early rave days. When it closed, were you gutted . The whole city was gutted i mean, ive honestly fat tears have been involved in the Music Industry ive never seen the city so gutted when a venue closed. When i heard it closed, it just felt. Somebody needs to be saving these venues for the future. At this stage, their hopes of reopening, like most venues across england, are pinned on 21june. My Bank Manager thinks its madness. You know, but youve got to have some belief that we will get through this. Do you reckon the government really understand your industry . Do you think they understand what it will take to get a nightclub open by 21june . Ive sat on a few select committees, and its quite clear the government just do not understand the Nightclubs Sector and its benefit to the economy. You know, they are stuck in the world of the 19905 when you had Chrome Handrails and 2am slowdowns. Thats not what nightclubs are doing. We are generating new music, new creative talent. And music internationally is one of our last great british exports, you know, we export music around the world better than any other product. And the government seems to not really connect the dots on that that without venues like the welly, then we dont have new music that we can then export. They paint a pretty bleak picture but are clubs really that under threat if they cant open on 21 June . Ive come to chat with Radio One Dj Arielle free. Music ends. Post malone, that is better now. Ive had your breakfast covered this morning. Ill be back again next week. She used to have a busy schedule djing, so she knows the scene inside out. I feel like everyone was saving their money for this moment. But i also know, like, a lot of peoples Mental Health has been affected massively because people go into the club at the Weekend Its notjust about, you know, going and getting mashed up with your mates. Its actually pure escapism, its having that moment for yourself. Maybe youve worked relentless hours all week, and you just want to let your hair down and have some fun with your mates. For me, i love walking into clubs in london and knowing that for the next 5 7 hours, itsjust about me dancing to some tunes with my mates. And, you know, when youve had a really hard week, like, trying to earn those pennies, thats what we live for, we live for the weekend, dont we . So i feel like theres going to be a lot of Mental Health effects, as well. Im actually adapting to being in social environments, as well, thatll be quite hard for some people. But the pressure to make that first tune the best one or the last tune of the evening of peoples first dance back, i think, is probably more important than the first one, because thats The One theyll go home, like, singing. Hopefully, if its a good gig. Its been more than 400 days since the clubs shut and, aside from illegal raves, the Dance Floors have been hauntingly empty. Until now. Here in liverpool, weve been invited to a Test Event which is being run by the government to see how clubbing can happen more safely. Yusuf has run the famous Circus Night for around 20 years, and has been asked to put on the event. Were getting a Sneak Peek around the place. I think making sure that i play the right records at the right time because thats the essence of djing. Im a technical guy, but its about the right music at the right time. So ive got to do that for 3,000 people for the first time, really, in 14 months. Do you think that the night time industry, nightclubs, djs, clubbers have been supported through this . I think its been dreadful, the way they were treated. But i understood ifound out why they were treated so badly and its because, even though the Music Industry is the fifth biggest economy in the uk, more than steel and fisheries who get support no problem at all its because the government dont understand what we do. Theyve literally no idea. They think that a dj is someone who kind of plays in a pub, you know, last orders at the bar, all that stuff. Totally dated view and everything. Starved of a chance to dance, the excitement is huge. Music plays. Those attending are clearly having a great time. To get in, theyve had to prove theyre free of covid and commit to doing another test after the event. Hot since 82 will start his set with his own special mix. Boris johnson, distorted weve been asking people to stay at home. Stay at home. Telling nightclubs, i theatres, nightclubs, nightclubs, nightclubs. To close on the same timescale. Now these are places where people come together and, Indeed, the whole purpose in many cases of these businesses is to bring people together. But the sad thing is, im afraid, today, for now, at least physically, we need to keep people apart. To keep people apart. To keep people apart. Music starts. With no gigs to play it at recent times, hes also using the event to test new music on a live audience. This tune has been signed by yusuf a sign of how important djs being together is. Ive been invited to hot since 82s studio to see how lifes changed over the last year. Music plays. Usually you make these records in the week, and you get, you know, the weekend comes and you can play these 3 4 times at the weekend, then come back on monday and make those small tweaks that you can hear when you play out live. Youve got yourself pretty busy throughout this, havent you . Its notjust, sort of, a year off youve been streaming and trying to do many things. Yeah, i work with a great team and were always trying to push the envelope, whatever it may be, doing the stream in a hot air balloon, which was super scary. But it takes you off the bucket list. Doing a stream on a pier in the northeast. Its keeping the viewers and listeners engaged, as well. And i dont want to keep it stale for me, you know, were in lockdown and im not playing any shows. I want to get out there and play music, and i want to keep it interesting for myself, as well, because this is who i am, you know . Im a dj. I drive over to hull to catch up with Terry And Aaron as they try to get the welly back, ready, and open for 21june. Thats the date theyve been given to work to but it all seems in some doubt. Thats because of a new variant of covid, first discovered in india. Right, whats changed . Were just trying to get the place ready. Theres that uncertainty of when well be able to open. Theyve got this new indian variant coming through, and thats putting 21 June into some kind of question. Weve been doing some socially distance events so youll see in the room here, weve got some tables laid out for a gig on saturday night. Can you manage a business with that level of uncertainty over you . Its just super difficult. You cantjust open a venue like this with one weeks notice. Were Booking Acts and telling them theyre12 18 months down the line. The thing is, weve got to plan anywayjust in case we can open. I mean, hopefully, im feeling positive, im keeping positive because when the news came out about the indian variant, it does affect you mentally, because you think, ive just put three months of planning again. I think the thing that really strikes you there is the uncertainty thats the word they kept mentioning, how uncertain the future feels to them. They were saying that theyre worried about rumours going around that maybe the government might let them open on the 21st, but put restrictions on the number of people that can come into the venue. That, they say, isjust unworkable and that means theres a Big Cloud Hanging over the venue and a lot of concern. When you look at the stats, clubs have been battered over the past few years. And the pandemic threatens even more of them. Six years ago, i made a documentary asking, where have all the clubs gone . What was this, then . This used to be liquid. This was literally the biggest place to go. We have no real need to come here for a Night Out any more. Back then, half had a shut in the past decade. That stat came from Industry Expert kate nichols, who now heads up uk hospitality. Shes agreed to meet up for an update and appropriately, outside a closed down club. Since then, weve lost a further 25 , and a significant number of those have closed during the pandemic year. 0ne Bit of the industry thats not been allowed to reopen at all since march. So while we saw stabilisation in 2018 19, i think we will see an accelerated Closure Rate through this year. A lot of her concerns are shared by Club Owners like simeon. He runs the depot in manchester, the drum sheds, and the massive print works here in london. Were 500 days in, we are absolutely exhausted. Weve gone from a team of several hundred to tens, with the government saying, were all about to open, now stop, now start, now stop. Every time that happens, we lose tens of millions of pounds. Why is it you think they dont get it . Why is it that this industry keeps telling me they feel abandoned . I dont think weve been forgotten, ijust dont think they care. Thats the fundamental. I dont think its about being forgotten, weve been lobbying hard. The science is really difficult about opening venues. But weve done Test Events months ago, weve got the data, we know how to do it, we have World Class Health and safety producers in this country. And to be honest, to totally ignore us isjust not good enough. His worries about opening and being forced to shut are exactly what happened in the netherlands. My friends were all buying tickets to everything, and now itsjust i all cancelled again. And i feel bad about it, but i understand it completely. Like for me, its a logical reasoning. The government here says it doesnt want to close the Night Clubs again like has happened in the netherlands. It says it understands how difficult the pandemic has been for the sector, and it continues to do everything it can to back it. It points to an unprecedented £353 billion package of support which includes things like the furlough scheme, protection from being evicted, and grants to help them reopen. But that doesnt remove uncertainty for clubs and promoters. Its meant djs used to playing huge packed out venues and now events like this the estate festival, which is all socially distanced. You spend all that time in the studio for this. You know, whether its a festival, a club, whatever its all about this. The 21st, though . No, its not gonna happen. To be honest, i wasnt super optimistic about it anyway. But i mean, its for the best. It must be for the best, because we dont see the statistics these are the guys that see all that, without getting too political and whatnot. So if it needs to be a few more weeks for us to finally be unchained, then is what it is. If the 21st doesnt happen and it gets pushed back, thats all right for a big event like this, but those smaller promoters and smaller djs, thats a problem, isnt it . Its all about the new wave. Because im an established artist and its easy for me to just pick up from where i left off hopefully. But for the other people building up the momentum, i hope thats not eradicated. And the promoters, the little promoters, or the big time festival promoters, its all like a domino effect, isnt it . So lets hope that we can try and rejuvenate the industry, because it has shone within the last few years, i know that. Clubs have faded, clubs havent been in for the last 20 25 years, it is happening. So lets hope that we can try and stimulate the industry again and keep it alive. You can make A Thousand tunes in the studio, but youre making it for an audience outside, a festival, club, whatever. Its the first time hot since 82 has played the finished version of his new Track Heater to a crowd. Music plays. Its strange, having spent time with him in his studio. Its quite nicejust to see him doing what he does, and obviouslyjust loving being back on stage. Music continues. Applause. That was amazing, it was nice to play out for the first time in a long time since the circus in liverpool. Tried a few new records a few of them were all right. Laughter. A few of them need a good mix down. But apart from that, yeah, it was good. So will he get back to playing in a club again . And is that 21st Date going to go the way of christmas and get changed at the last minute . Im back with yusuf to see the Government Announcement on this. When we set out on our Road Map to freedom a few months ago,. We were determined to make progress i that was cautious but irreversible. I this opening up over the last three steps has inevitably been accompanied by more infection, i and, in the worst affected areas. How are you feeling now . In terms of waiting anxious, waiting to see what the outcome will be . It feels like were about to go over another cliff, unfortunately. We will hold off step four openings until 29july l except for weddings, i they can still go ahead with more than 30 guests, provided social distancing i remains in place. So, how do you feel right now . Well, its confusing because he keeps on making word mistakes, for a start. He said 29july, and i think he meant the 19th. And so that. Was a shock to the system. Im hoping he did mean the 19th, and thatll be four weeks away, that would be painful. But manageable, possibly. I think ive met you now 2 3 times, and every time i come away from meeting you, i realise youre a very positive, upbeat guy with a lot of energy. Today it feels quite different. You feel like, its a bit of a cliche, but like the wind knocked out of your sails. Yeah. Is that how you feel about it . Its exactly that, i feel like the winds been knocked out of my sails and notjust for me, you know, thinking about the journey that weve all been on over the past 14, now 15 months. But yeah, im gutted that so far, the Movie Isnt ending with a happy ending just yet. This is going to be the most bitter pill to swallow. But, as they say, its darkest just before the dawn. Hes clearly really frustrated but what about the other djs weve met . Casablanca l how are you . Im all right, how are you . I mean, im overwhelmed, i and wanting to dive right in. Well, crack on. I decided it was time to catch up with arielle at her local record shop. You need to buy this record. Laughter. What do you recommend . Its genuinely an incredible record, yeah. Oh, i might have to get it then. You want to pick up the float, then well head to the park . Ok, lets do that. Lets do it. Now i should say its very rare that anyone buys a record that quickly off one of my recommendations. But actually, there is a reason why arielle was on the hunt for something a bit different. Shall we head to the park . Yes i spent lockdown making music, and actually, im really, really happy because its something ive always wanted to do that i didnt think was possible, but its also helped me connect with djs and friends. | like, ive now got to the pointj where i released my first Track L so im really thankful about that i because its allowed me to flex that muscle when weve been stuck at home and not able to play to a crowd, and whatnot. It feels a Bit Doom and gloom, but whats your assessment of where we are with Dance Music once the clubs finally reopen . I think the appetite is still there. Over 700,000 people have lost theirjobs in the live events industry, and theyve had to retrain going into different industries. And whether theyre coming back. I know so many people whove gone to work at warehouses for sainsburys and amazon, i and things like that because its much more solid and stable. | so i think the appetite for clubsj is there, Ijust Hope that people who make it all happen can survive this again and again. Well, its19july four months on since we came here to the welly. Many of the people that work in here frankly never thought this day was going to happen. Theres been so many ups and downs. But tonight, the welly is going to party. With just a few more hours to go until the doors open, theres still plenty left to do. Feels like weve been closed for 16 months, and weve left opening until the last minute again. Not on purpose, but i think we kind of, we werent fully sure that 19 July was going to happen, so 21june happened and that was pushed back. So its almost like a relief and now its trying to get staff in and try to get security in, and get everything working again. You dont want to build yourself up because weve had so much disappointment over the last 16 months that its like, you know, until today, you dont actually believe its going to happen. Tonight, therell be no Vaccine Passport checks. The government urged clubs to do it, but its not a legal requirement. But then, just 17 hours after the clubs could reopen, theres news. 0nly tonight, as were waiting to have a chat with you, borisjohnsons got up and said that come Mid September, basically Vaccine Passports are a thing for nightclubs. This is a fast Moving Story do you feel that youre being brought along in the journey . I think the problem is that the whole way through this, weve been told that vaccination Passports Wouldnt be a thing, then it was dropped on us last monday that Vaccination Passports clubs were being urged to do Vaccination Passports. But the Technology Isnt working properly yet, and the demographic we appeal to, the 18 25s, havent had a chance for their second vaccine yet. So that was really difficult. Now ive almost got a sense of relief that its september, because it then gives us time to get ready and at least prepare for that. When it was announced on last monday, i was in a panic, thinking weve sold all these tickets to people who wont be able to get Vaccination Passports, and how do we deal with that . There is not long to go now. And as the queue begins to form outside, it all starts to feel very real. Its the first time ive been to a nightclub to be honest. The first time youve been to a nightclub . Yeah, literally my birthday was on the wednesday of the week we shut down. What is it that youve craved about going to a nightclub, what is it you wanted to do . I dont know. Just experiencing it. I havent experienced it before. So, itsjust going to be a new thing for me. I dont feel as scared about it, really, because weve all been all over the place i with the government going, oh, you cant do this, you cant do that. Do you have any worries about being in a crowded venue . Yeah, ido. I feel like im a massive hypocrite but, like, im here because i want to be im just so over it now. Its a big moment. For some, their first ever Night Out. For many, a return to a venue they havent been to for ages. For aaron and his team, the first night at the welly has opened since he took it over. A bit nervous with a lot of people, but not because of covid, its more like around the eyes, you know what i mean . Other than that, its all right. Because youre just not used to being in a big crowd any more . Yeah, 100 , yeah. Music plays. Its really nice to see everyone smiling and happy. We love that. Yeah, we both had covid real recently. We came out of our isolation like a week ago. We both had it at the same time. I just feel scared for anyone thats not had it, because i feel like if youve not had it, you are going to get it now. Look, strip away whether you think its right or wrong to reopen clubs. Im just struck that theres something, well, quite magical, seeing Friends Dancing and reconnecting on the Dance Floor. Not as bad as i thought it would be. Like, people wise. Yeah, the amount of people but they havent let that many in really, have they . Itjust means so much to the city. People just want to socialise and go back on the Dance Floor because music connects people, doesnt it . Have you missed it as a promoter, manager, owner . Absolutely. I mean, i think we go through life and just accept that these Buildings Kind of exist. Its only when they no longer exist that you realise just how important they are. You know, these places are cultural incubators, and it is so vital that places like the welly and grassroots Music Venues like this continue to exist. So, hopefully we will come out of this and appreciate them more, because they are so vital to our industry of music and life, and everything. So, nightclubs are open, but the Uncertainty Weve seen along the way remains. For example, the Prime Minister wants to see the Vaccine Passports for entry, but many in his own party hate the idea. Will we see that come into law by Mid September . Either way, uncertainty is the big Message Weve heard along the way. For example, clubs have got massive debts that theyve racked up during the pandemic. Festivals have become increasingly popular, and its very difficult to get and keep a licence. Its saturday the 14th of august. Our top story Hundreds Of People gathered at a Candlelit Vigil in Plymouth Last Night, to remember the five people killed in thursdays Mass Shooting. The youngest victim, Sophie Martyn, was just three years old. It comes as an investigation is launched by the Police Watchdog to understand why the gunman, Jake Davison, was allowed to take back his confiscated firearm and permit, weeks before the attack. Aru na iyengar reports. The youngest face of plymouths tragedy. Sophie martyn, just three years old, was out for a walk with her Dad Lee when they were both were shot dead byJake Davison. A sad time for this part of the world, but our community will show the rest of it how good we are. Last night, people came together from keyham and surrounding areas to try to make sense of what happened. Could have been any of us, couldve been our kids. We regularly walk our dogs in the area, we go for runs together in the area. So, yeah, its tough to know that whats happened has happened. Its now emerged that The Killer, Jake Davison, had his shotGun And Permit taken off him by police in december, following an allegation of assault. But these were returned to him last month. Then, on thursday evening, six minutes of violence the worst Mass Shooting in more than a decade. The sequence of events started at a house in Biddick Drive, where Davison Shot and killed his mother. He then went onto the road and fired again, killing 3 year old Sophie Martyn and her Father Lee. The gunman then headed into a nearby park, shooting and injuring another Man And Woman. Theyre both being treated in hospital. In the park he killed 59 year old Stephen Washington, before heading to henderson place, where he shot his fifth victim, 66 year old Kate Shepherd, who later died in hospital. It was here that the gunman then shot himself and was declared dead at the scene. Police are looking at motives for the shooting. 0nline, Jake Davidson was involved in the incel or involuntary celibate subculture, of people who resent their lack a sexual partner. Lets get the latest now from our Reporter Luxmy Gopal, who is in keyham this morning. That sense of shock, i imagine, still hasnt eased in any way . Thats right, roger. Just to give you a sense of how much that is still hanging over the community, dotted around keyham this morning seems like The One behind me, Police Tape, offices and high vizjackets, and you can probably see there are police tents behind me. There are 13 areas within the police caught on in keyham being investigated by officers. And the Devon And Cornwall Police Force themselves are being investigated by the Police Watchdog, the iopc, because they are looking out of the question of davisons Firearms Licence. The iopc said Davisons Shotgun and license were returned to him only last month after they were taken away from him in december last year, following an alleged assault three months earlier. So they are investigating looking at that, and they are also looking at that, and they are also looking at that, and they are also looking at how much information, if any, the Police Force had about davisons Mental Health, and if they did have information, how much they took that into consideration. Now, this is the kind of community where everyone knows everyone, and last night Hundreds Of People gathered not far, nearby, not far from night Hundreds Of People gathered not far, nearby, not farfrom here, to hold a Candlelit Vigil where they laid flowers and tributes in honour of the victims, the five victims who were killed as a result of the shooting on thursday evening. And the memorials and the tributes continue in plymouth, across this weekend, as flags will be flying at Half Mast in official buildings and then on Monday Morning at 11am, a Minutes Silence is going to be held in memory of the five victims. Minutes silence. In memory of the five victims. Minutes silence. In memory of the five victims. Minutes silence. The taliban could be back in control of the afghan Capital Kabul within a month. Thats the warning from the us government this morning. A number of countries are scrambling to help diplomats and citizens leave as militants continue to make gains across the country. 0ur Correspondent Ramzan karmali has this report. The afghan government has had its most difficult week fighting for taliban since the beginning of the insurgency. Militants now control around half of provincial capitals. The speed of their advance has left the United States and their western allies dismayed, with many questioning the wisdom of withdrawing troops from afghanistan. I would say that we should literally reverse the decision. I think that, you know, when the decision was announced months ago, i said that ifeared, we would come to regret this decision. And we already are. This, again, is a nightmare, and there are no good Ways Forward. The pentagon says that it has taken this situation seriously, but doesnt believe the capital will fall as quickly as other cities. With 600 troops preparing to evacuate british nationals and former afghan staff from kabul, prime Minister Borisjohnson admitted its a difficult situation, but defended the uks involvement in afghanistan. We have seen no alqaeda attacks against the west for a very long time, and there are millions of girls and young women who have been educated in afghanistan thanks to the efforts of the uk and the british armed services, and i think we can be very proud of that. The latest us intelligence assessments suggest the militants could try to advance on capital within 30 days. The fighting has already displaced more than a quarter of A Million people, and the un fears the situation is spinning out of control, with devastating consequences for civilians. Ramzan karmali, Bbc News. The cost of Nhs Coronavirus tests for international arrivals to the uk has been reduced by the government. People will now have to pay £68 for a single test, instead of £88. Some parents in england say they are struggling to get a Covid Vaccine for their clinically vulnerable children nearly four weeks after they became eligible. 12 to 15 year olds who are high risk, or living with someone with a weakened Immune System, were added to the Vaccination Programme on the 19th ofjuly. Veronica has severe neurodisabilities. Last month, 12 to 15 year old children who are at high risk from covid like her were advised to have a vaccine, as well as those living with someone with a weakened Immune System. But nearly four weeks on, and with the start of a new School Term in sight, dozens of families like hers are still desperate for information about when they will get one. I think the urgency of the Vaccine Rollout for our children has been completely forgotten. And its not good enough. If something is announced onjuly 19, having to wait until The End of august for a vaccination, i mean, its too late. Immunity isnt going to have time to have kicked in in a meaningful way. Doctors say they are still waiting for search guidelines to help them identify from Patient Records which children are eligible. I can understand that parents and children are anxious about this, because they want to ensure they get at least one vaccine before the School Year starts in a few weeks time in england. However, we do not yet have guidance on how they can be implemented, so doctors, that includes gps like myself, but also pediatric doctors, were still waiting on guidance from the nhs about how this will be implemented. But Nhs England say they have provided guidance on how to proceed. In a statement, they said Gp Led Vaccination Centres are already contacting children and their parents with thousands vaccinated in a matter of days following the necessary safety checks and training. Local services are on track to offer a vaccine to eligible 12 15 Year Olds by the start of the School Year as originally planned. Eligible children in the other Uk Nations are also being invited inforajab. The Nhs In Scotland said nearly a quarter of 12 15 Year Olds there had received a first dose. Katherine Da Costa, Bbc News. Look, we have been suffering from a wave of fighting since the beginning of the year, the last six months, which started spreading heavily into cities in City Centres since a few weeks ago. And this has brought, of course, fighting In The City, a huge increase of negative impacts on the life of the population, because fighting in densely populated areas is obviously having more effects on the afghan people. It has started to increase over the last six months, as i said. Hitting rural areas in smaller cities. It is now reaching more densely populated cities, with more devastating effects, first and foremost on the living areas of people, so, homes have been destroyed, people have been pushed back from their neighbourhoods, and this is creating displacement of a great number of people fleeing the country. Iloathed people fleeing the country. What does that displacement people fleeing the country. What does that displacement look like . Because we are getting reports of people who are sleeping on the street, children who have nowhere to sleep, nowhere to stay, and as you mentioned, the Mass Migration towards the larger cities or to some sense of safety, in what sense is that being offered . One of the main issues we have in maintaining our medical supports in Health Centres we are supporting, the fact that fighting is developing around medical structures, and is causing damages sometimes, or preventing people to access medical structures or preventing us from bringing the wounded or deceptive his medical structures. We are preparing as well to maintain our medical structure as much as possible despite the odds, and we are engaging a lot with both parties in order to push them to restrain from fighting in areas where the density of the population is really high, where we have civilian infrastructures that need to be protected such as hospitals as well, water, electricity system, so on and so forth. And that is what we are preparing to do, balancing always the risk that we take for our teams, partners and the needs of the population we need to serve. I wish ou and population we need to serve. But first lets get the weather forecast, many people will be on holiday in the uk at the moment so they will be hanging on your every word this saturday. Indeed, good morning to you. The weather looking a little mixed through the course of the weekend, if you are on holiday or you have outdoor plans most of us should see a bit of sunshine around either today or tomorrow. There is certainly a bit of sunshine this morning, this is the picture into twickenham. A fair amount of cloud and it will be quite cloudy for many areas during the day, so a bit of a mix them. Some sunshine around, some rain in the forecast but we are not all going to be seeing that rain around, that is due to an area of low pressure that is moving in from The Atlantic but not a particularly active fast moving area of low pressure so it will bring a bit more cloud, the cloud increasing gradually across parts of england and wales from the west, a few spots of light rain across parts of wales and late this afternoon that patchy rain arriving across parts of Northern England and eventually Northern Ireland as well. Scotland, some heavy showers in the north this morning, they will become lighter fewer and further between buddy afternoon. Some sunshine through the central belt, a bit of patchy, light, drizzly rain the likes of liverpool towards hull but towards the south, most places looking dry through the day. In the South East, top temperatures around 23 24, typically around 16 24 of us through the day. A little bit low average for this time of year. 0vernight a bit more rain for parts of Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland, putting into Southern Scotland by The End of the night, a few patchy outbreaks of rain into wales as well. Towards the South East it remains dry and quite humid with temperatures about for dean overnight, but we will see overnight lows dropping into single figures across parts of scotland. Through the Day Tomorrow we still have this area of low pressure so it is not moving in a hurry, quite a few Weather Fronts on the map, we have one moving into the north of scotland, so some heavy showers towards northern parts of the highland and the isles, early rain for Northern Ireland in Northern England which will tend to ease through the day, a few more showers for wales in the South West, another loudly dry day towards the South East with temperatures again 23, possibly 24. You will notice gradually things are turning cooler further north to the mid to high tears. We have very hot weather further south across europe but Cool Air starting further south across europe but Cool Airstarting in further south across europe but Cool Air starting in from the north and North West, sunday and monday as well. One day cooler, fresher feeling they across the board, some sunny spells, perhaps one or two scattered showers around here and there, and temperatures, by the time we get to monday, a little down on the weekend. Though typically around 1620, the weekend. Though typically around 16 20, slightly below par but a lot of dry weather if you have got holiday plans. Really through the week ahead, a lot of dry, settled weather, higher pressure tending to build in, one ortwo weather, higher pressure tending to build in, one or two scattered isolated showers but mostly sunny spells, Temperatures Nothing to write home about for the next week or so. Those changes have already come into force in scotland and wales. Lets discuss this and more with gp dr sarahjarvis, whos in west london. Thank you very much for talking to us. You are across all these details, can you just explain as simply as possible what the changes were england and Northern Ireland from monday are . So were england and Northern Ireland from monday are . 50 ill were england and Northern Ireland from monday are . Were england and Northern Ireland from monday are . So if you have been double vaccinated from monday are . So if you have been double vaccinated and from monday are . So if you have been double vaccinated and you from monday are . So if you have been double vaccinated and you had from monday are . So if you have been double vaccinated and you had your i double vaccinated and you had your second vaccine at least 14 days ago, thenif second vaccine at least 14 days ago, then if you are identified as a contact by Nhs Test and trace you dont have to self isolate, and we dont have to self isolate, and we do advise, but is not mandatory that you have a Pcr Test. In england that is as soon as possible, and in Northern Ireland it is on day two and day eight after you have been pinged. You dont have to self isolate while you are waiting for results of the tests. It is interesting results of the tests. It is interesting from results of the tests. It is interesting from a results of the tests. It is interesting from a Dr Results of the tests. It is | interesting from a dr but results of the tests. It is interesting from a dr but my results of the tests. It is interesting from a dr but my point of view, obviously as you said, in england, idealthat of view, obviously as you said, in england, ideal that you go and get one, in all of the nations wherever you are, if you return a positive test, you will then have to self isolate. So people might sort of keep their fingers crossed and not do it. I keep their fingers crossed and not do it. ,. ,. , do it. Iwould really, really strongly do it. Iwould really, really strongly advise do it. Iwould really, really strongly advise people, i do it. I would really, really strongly advise people, personally i wish it had been made mandatory to get a test, because we need to bear in mind that although the vaccines have been spectacularly successful, they have saved 60,000 deaths and 67,000 hospitalisationsjust in they have saved 60,000 deaths and 67,000 hospitalisations just in this year alone since they started, the simple fact of the matter is there are more effect give at preventing severe illness and they are at preventing infection stop they are more effective. You probably have about a 60 lower chance of getting affected but it is only 60 . That is, only 60 lower. You can still get it and pass it on and i have had several patients who have been quite rough, not ending up in hospital once they have been double vaccinated but there are some vulnerable people at risk. So if you have been pinged, i would really advise you, please go and get that Pcr Test, and even if your test is negative, please do not automatically assume you are absolutely fine. For the ten days after you have been in contact with somebody, please, please stay away from really vulnerable people, do where your Face Covering, i would hope that everybody is wearing their Face Coverings anyway, about 90 of people interestingly apparently still think it is important, certainly when i have been out and about the vast majority of people have been wearing their Face Coverings, and do so silly outside. Particularly if you have been identified socially isolated. But particularly if you have been identified as a contact, dont go and visit ronnie. I identified as a contact, dont go and visit ronnie. And visit ronnie. I was in the Supermarket And Visit ronnie. I was in the Supermarket Yesterday and visit ronnie. I was in the Supermarket Yesterday and L And Visit ronnie. I was in the Supermarket Yesterday and i | and visit ronnie. I was in the Supermarket Yesterday and i noticed the vast majority of people were still wearing a Face Covering while doing their shopping. Still wearing a Face Covering while doing their shopping. Doing their shopping. Go and visit grandma. Doing their shopping. Go and visit grandma. You doing their shopping. Go and visit grandma. You mentioned l visit grandma. You mentioned vulnerable visit grandma. You mentioned vulnerable people visit grandma. You mentioned vulnerable people and visit grandma. You mentioned vulnerable people and that. Visit grandma. You mentioned i vulnerable people and that plays into vaccination for under 18s. The royal college of paediatrics and Child Health last week said the rollout to underwritings was shambolic and we will talk to our mother a little later who has a vulnerable child who is still waiting. Would you say it has been shambolic for the rollout to under 18 is as a gp at the Coal Face . There has certainly been confusion, shall we say. We were getting mixed messages when the guidance first came out on the 22nd of night, should be started doing it straightaway, then we had no, stop, wait, then go for it, started vaccinating straightaway. That included both 16 and 17 year olds and the 12 15 Year Olds who are very vulnerable. So that is filled in with severe nero disabilities, with down syndrome, where the Immune System is suppressed, with profound and multiple learning disabilities or people on the Learning Disability register. The problem is that those people are not necessarily really easy to identify according to gp practices. When the guidance came out we were told to expect to be told to identify those patients, but actually that is easier said than done. So we are doing it as fast as we can, but it hasnt been easy because we have had conflict in information in general practice. You would imagine that gps, i am not being critical of you, but would know their patients and would know who might fall into that bracket. If you dont, what is the advice . Should parents be picking up the phone to the gp and saying look, have you got my child on this list . So i have to say at this stage i would advise you to do that if you havent heard yet, because gps have been doing their very best but we have had an incredibly busy time. It has been much busier than it normally is at this time of year, and of course until today, or until monday, any gp or any Practice Member of staff who was pinged has been required to self isolate. So we have had lots of Practice Staff who have had lots of Practice Staff who have been off as a result as well. So yes, if you think you qualify, please do contact the general pack is and hopefully they will be able to get you in as soon as possible. The reason it is so important is that schools are now going back in just four weeks from now, and unfortunately because of the Delta Variant you need two vaccinations in order to have that maximum protection. The only good thing i can say is that even those very vulnerable children are still much less likely than, say, severe, vulnerable older adults to get severely unwell. Just vulnerable older adults to get severely unwell. Severely unwell. Just a final thou. Ht severely unwell. Just a final thought on severely unwell. Just a final thought on the severely unwell. Just a final thought on the takeup severely unwell. Just a final. Thought on the takeup among severely unwell. Just a final thought on the takeup among younger thought on the take up among younger people, what can you do as a gp to try and make sure everybody is identified and is offered a vaccine . So we know on the basis of age that is an easy one, because we have list and we know all the younger patients. It is not so much a question of identifying them is a question of identifying them is a question of identifying them is a question of having the conversation every time i speak to a patient who is of that age, and asking them about their views. And for some of them it isjust about their views. And for some of them it is just uncertainty, they are not sure who to believe. So once i have that conversation, there usually is not a problem. 0ccasionally i get somebody who just says dont even talk to be a talk to me about it, im not doing it, but if for instance their concerns about their fertility which is a common concern, or about the fact that they dont think they will get seriously unwell, i can talk to them about long covid, i can explain to them that their chance of getting infected at the moment is still very, very high, in england it is one in 75, in Northern Ireland it is particularly high, in scotland it is going down but from a very, very high base. So the chance of getting infected is extremely high, and the best case scenario, they have a one in 50 chance of ending up with long covid. Worst case scenario, the risks from the vaccine, for Example Inflammation of the Heart Muscle is at a maximum one in 25,000 four young men, and one in 250,000 young women. So when i put those risks into perspective and they understand the risks of not getting the vaccine, as well as the risks of getting the vaccine, it usually tips the balance, but i have to see them or talk to them to do that. Dr the balance, but i have to see them or talk to them to do that. Or talk to them to do that. Dr sarah jarvis, or talk to them to do that. Dr sarah jarvis. Thank or talk to them to do that. Dr sarah jarvis. Thank you or talk to them to do that. Dr sarah jarvis, thank you very or talk to them to do that. Dr sarah jarvis, thank you very much or talk to them to do that. Dr sarah jarvis, thank you very much for jarvis, thank you very much for talking to us this morning. Hundreds of people gathered in Plymouth Last Night to memorial the victims in last weeks Mass Shooting. It comes as an investigation is launched by the Police Watchdog to understand why the gunman, Jake Davison, was allowed to take back his confiscated firearm and permit, weeks before the attack. What do you understand happened in terms of this Firearms License in possession of this firearm . Clearly this man was possession of this firearm . Clearly this man was originally possession of this firearm . Clearly this man was originally granted i possession of this firearm . Clearly this man was originally granted a l this man was originally granted a Firearms Licence, so they will need to look at what the situation was then, there was clearly some incident, apparently last year, when he had an altercation with local youths. The license was revoked. He appears to have gone on anger management course, and a month ago they have reviewed the situation and given the license back. So clearly this investigation is going to have to look at all the thinking around data, you know, what enquiries the police made, did they look at his Social Media accounts, what sort of material the media has highlighted, even there at that time. You know, essentially, what was the decision making process, was it right, and could anything have been done to prevent this awful tragedy . Are the guidelines when it comes to the decision making process, like, heaps of people that need to be contacted . 0r heaps of people that need to be contacted . Or as you alluded to, Social Media accounts being checked . Yes, there are exhaustive guidelines. There has been a lot of legal challenge about these decisions. Normally gps would be consulted. There would be a Home Visit and an interview. And as i say, the investigation will have to look at when all that was carried out. At The End, certainly particularly for a shotGun Licence, there is a presumption that unless there is a presumption that unless the police can find a reason why this Person Shouldnt have one, then it should be given. But for firearms, things like rifles, the decision is much more in favour of the person having to prove why they need to this weapon. Is the person having to prove why they need to this weapon. The person having to prove why they need to this weapon. Is there a case for these processes need to this weapon. Is there a case for these processes not need to this weapon. Is there a case for these processes not to need to this weapon. Is there a case for these processes not to have need to this weapon. Is there a case | for these processes not to have been done . Is there anyjustification for that . Done . Is there any ustification for that . ~ , done . Is there any ustification for that . ~ y. , that . Absolutely not. This procedure is taken very that . Absolutely not. This procedure is taken very seriously. That . Absolutely not. This procedure is taken very seriously. You that . Absolutely not. This procedure is taken very seriously. You would i is taken very seriously. You would have to stand back and say this was an awful tragedy last week, with a huge impact on obviously the families and the community, but in general these sorts of events are incredibly rare, the song was about ten years ago, whereas they get hundreds every year, for instance, the United States. So our licensing laws on firearms are some of the strictest in the world. Things like handguns, pistols, they were completely banned after be Dunblane Tragedy. 0n you have to say the system appears to work and be sorts of tragedies are incredibly rare. For instance, there are only about 30 murders a year which involved firearms, and they are ones which were which are illegal, which would never get certificate for. That doesnt mean that they will look absolutely into this case and it certainly does highlight the difficult issue about the Police Monitoring what is on Social Media. Does it sound reasonable to you that if somebody s Firearm Licence and gun licenses revoked, and it is removed, that it is returned within a year . It removed, that it is returned within a ear . , ,. , a year . It all depends on the circumstances a year . It all depends on the circumstances of a year . It all depends on the circumstances of the a year . It all depends on the circumstances of the case. I a year . It all depends on the l circumstances of the case. You a year . It all depends on the circumstances of the case. You know, certainly they might have been one particular incident, that person has overcome it and further enquiries show that that person is not a threat with a firearm, and therefore the firearm can be returned. 0bviously with hindsight, in the light of this incredible tragedy, thus decision now looks very questionable. Investigators will have to look at what information was available to the police at that time and how far their own investigation at that time went. The and how far their own investigation at that time went. At that time went. The word incel, this is a word at that time went. The word incel, this is a word that at that time went. It is basically, and incel as somebody who is Incel Culture, someone who is involuntarily celibate, and there has been, this has been attached to this man, Jake Davison, what can you tell us about them in terms of awareness and it as part of a Hate Group and online presence, and how thatis group and online presence, and how that is being monitored . I group and online presence, and how that is being monitored . That is being monitored . I think there is a awareness, that is being monitored . I think there is a awareness, and that is being monitored . I think. There is a awareness, and Indeed there is a awareness, and Indeed there is a debate on policing about this kind of misogyny, and this more extreme misogyny. I think you would have to say that when you look at the overall Threat And Risk to women, they are more at risk, most at risk, from a person that is known to them, they are in a relationship, or they havejust to them, they are in a relationship, or they have just left a relationship with. So this is a threat, it is a worry, but it must not be taken out of context. We must constantly hammer home to women and to families that, as i say, that is where the greatest risk to women comes from, and clearly the police and all the authorities need to do a huge amount to try to reduce the numbers of women being killed by partners and by former partners. So as i say, while this will get a lot of publicity and there is a growing awareness, it must not be taken out of context in terms of what the real threat to women is, in the awful tragedy of the number of women killed by their partners and ex partners every week. Haifa killed by their partners and ex partners every week. Killed by their partners and ex partners every week. How high up on the list to misogyny partners every week. And there is a big debate as to whether misogyny should be classed as a hate crime and police should take it more seriously. I think in terms of this particular phenomenon, it is about the growing awareness in policing and in counterterrorism of extreme right wing activity. And more and more disturbed people really sharing the sort of extreme material on the internet. And the other difficult issue about this is that unfortunately, when we give high publicity to these cases, which is inevitable for the size of the tragedy, it puts thoughts on other peoples minds. Sorry must be careful that we dont pull these people up too much. It has i say, there is certainly growing awareness in policing in counterterrorism the sort of threat, and of the police constantly highlighting, as i say, the dreadful right Wing Extremism and of these groups but particularly have this or do not organised misogyny towards women. There arej two different points there, one is that when heat is this intense, which has happened in other years, it is not so hot. You have to change your day, your dayjust completely changes. You are working out how to do things at certain times of day, so for example, i get up early, around seven, and tried to get everything done before 11am, so that is my third, if ive got to do something like go to the Post Office or go to the bank, you do all of those things, you get in the house by 11, and then you are just kind of hunkering down until around 10pm, even, untilthe hunkering down until around 10pm, even, until the heat is gone, and then you can open up the house. You have got to get all the blinds down, the curtains closed, to create this cave effect. So, you really have to be on the ball, you cantjust kind of let the day run away with you. Youve got to be planning ahead. And speaking about the Air Conditioning, while not everybody has Air Conditioning installed in their houses, some people do and some people dont, but now we have a problem with the electricity prices that have gone up a lot in short periods of time. In spain we are playing 21 tax on our electric bill, so that is opposed to other European Countries where they are paying kind of reduced vat, like italy or greece, they pay six or 10 . So people are worried about putting the Air Conditioning on, and having a huge bill, that they cant pat having a huge bill, that they cant pay. Luckily it is not my case. I the Air Conditioning on as much as i want. And i mean, these days, yesterday, we reached 45. 6 degrees in granada. Cordoba was 46 the other day. So, it is more or less the same geography area, and i think today it is going to be even hotter. At nine oclock already the heat is kind of concentrated now. You can see the red in spain. We could see temperatures near cordoba getting around 48 celsius, that could potentially be the highest temperature ever recorded in spain. Dangerous, extreme heat continuing, particularly across parts of spain through the weekend, gradually turning cooler through tomorrow and on into the week as well, so today probably the heat of their peak of their dangerous heatwave. For the uk it is a mixed weekend, some rain around as well as sunshine, we have an area of low pressure moving its way in from the west, quite a slow moving area of low pressure bringing more cloud across england and wales, a few spots of rain to wales through the morning, by the sudden and some of that rain just starting to push on the southern parts of Northern Ireland, perhaps into Northern England as well. Scotland is the day of sunshine and showers, most will tend to ease later on, we have this light patchy rain through the central slice of the uk but towards the far south most places staying dry and temperatures up to about 23 24 degrees, and the warmer spots typically high teens further north. Through this Evening And Tonight we will see some of that rain pushing up will see some of that rain pushing up across parts of Northern Ireland, Northern England into Southern Scotland by The End of the night as well. A few spots of rain wales but towards the South East, still quite humid overnight with temperatures here around 15 or so. It is turning cooler, single figures across parts of scotland overnight and it will be a similar Day Tomorrow, again fairly cloudy, a few outbreaks of Rain Courtesy of these Weather Fronts but they will be some drier and brighter weather and things are turning gradually cooler through the course of next week. Thanks sarah, we will speak soon. We will have the headlines for you at eight oclock. Now lets take a look at this weeks click. Hello and welcome to click. This week, we have a summer themed specialfor you although the Weather Isnt great, im hoping the rain is going to hold off. But what a summer of sport it has been. England may not have been able to bring it back home this year, but this Weekend Is the start of the premier League-season'>League Season, and clubs are gearing up to welcome the fans back to stadiums. But how these clubs discover talent could be about to change. Instead of sending scouts to identify young football stars, and then after a trial, picking the best ones, Artificial Intelligence is helping take on the job, as 0mar Mehtab has been finding out. Some of the worlds biggest football talents are cherry picked from a young age, as scouts scour the pitches to find the best of the best. Well, they missed me. I have been in love with the beautiful game all my life. Granted, i wasnt playing many League'>Sunday League matches however in order to get spotted, what if you dont need to anymore . There is a new app that has popped up, called aiscout, and it is all in the name. Artificial intelligence is being used to identify and analyse videos sent in by whoever, wherever. It can be at your local five a side, or evenjust in your back garden. And you dont have to be a pro. The way it works is you follow the instructions given on the app, using objects such as balls or cones as markers for the al to pick up. Once you complete an exercise, you upload it to the app for processing. Anything they do with the ball, with their body, gets tracked. All the movements then go into a system that has been built to identify what good Football Movement looks like, and that is referenced against benchmark data, academy data from clubs around the world. For players to be able to generate the same data without having to be on the right team or go to the right school or be in the right country. We can actually generate that data and get enough of an indication that someone can play football and they are worth a further look at. We dont replace the scouts, but we revolutionise their workflow. Now this app is in partnership with a few League'>Premier League football clubs, one of them being burnley, with over 12,000 aspiring football players across 125 different countries completing their virtual trials. So i also did their trial through the app. And it went. Uh. Come on man, get your nose on the ground. Shut up. Argh and soon after, the al was done processing my data. So how did i do . Some good, some bad. This is you. This is aiscouts data of omar. Nrs, whats nrs . Nrs is the national rating score, so thats all the combined physical trials you did. The top you can get is two. So players that have been generally found by burnley are around 1. 7, so pretty high. So how do i actually compare to others who have taken the trial . Should we take a look . Laughs. You can see the graph there at the bottom. There is a little bit of a difference. Ok, i wasnt the best, which is to be expected but even still, the apps trials seemed quite simplistic by League'>Premier League club standards. So what is an actual Clubs Trial like . And so i went to burnley to find out. This is something. A Boyhood Dream being lived. Doing a trialfor a big club. And, oh man i wasnt ready. I will feed a ball in to you, and all i would like you to do is run across the first defender, finish first time if you can. It is a lot different to the trials on the app. I am doing the things i would normally do, but its knowing i am being watched by people who have been doing this for absolutely years. Good, im going to give you a shooting one now. That includes running . Yeah, just going to extend you a little bit, 0mar. Argh it is not even a man, it is a mannequin, and i overthought beating the mannequin. The mental strength they need to have to be able to go through this and show what they can do, without overthinking it, without hesitating. Something i cant imagine. I can shoot better than that laughs. I can shoot so much better than that. Obviously a lot more difficult in person. I couldnt do it on a cold, wet Tuesday Afternoon in burnley. You remember the numbers, cant you . One, two, three, four. Are you sure . No. But then how confident are the club in actually identifying talent from the app . Therell always be people who will be sceptical of new methods, and we are trying to be ahead of the game. We understand the level, we understand it, were not going to get everybody at academy standard football. But if we can get one through, that one might be just the next one. And so as i said, it is really important for us that we keep our options open as far as we can when we are looking at recruitment of players. Thats number four. No, that. Thats number four. In The End, the best 28 players are selected from aiscouts trial run, and they play a game against each other with human scouts watching, to see if there is someone worth signing. There is some exceptional talent out here on display. 0ver there is reef, he has been recently called up by Sri Lanka after finding him on the app, soon to get his first international cap. And over there is bevan. Hes been given a second trial by burnley after being recommended by the ai. I just went to my local park and they told me what to do with the video, and i uploaded it, my dad filmed me, and after about a couple of hours it showed me my score. And because of the app i am now on my second trial with burnley. I probably would never had a trial with Burnley Or Anything to do with burnley, so i am here because of that basically. The Sports Science Team put through an Information Document on me, talked to the Sri Lanka national team because i could play for them. I then went to the under 19 trial, the Mens Coach came up to me and said can you come back next year and play for us . , so. The opportunities that have been opened for minority groups that maybe wouldnt get the opportunities to play football, wouldnt want to play football, have been ridiculous. After the year we have had, i think it is time for a bit of fun in The Sun. Ok, the weather may be a little bit changeable but you get the idea. So i have got my hands on a whole heap of gadgets that i am hoping are going to make me a little bit cooler. First up, this. The motus 0rbit plus. And yes, its like a smart hula hoop. The great thing about this as it doesnt drop like a regular hula hoop. You take out the pieces to make it the right size to fit you, and it will only land on your hips and you can keep going and going. You really do need to stop to see how many times it has gone round though, which does feel counter productive. But the weighted hula Hoop Concept itself was better than i expected, although im sure the novelty would wear off after not long. 0w, surely that is enough. It does feel like cardio after a while, but in the house i was quite nervous about it hitting anything around me or a small child. But out here with the space, it certainly feels like exercise. Im a bit hot after that but luckily at the moment there is a trend for neck fans. This is the yoshfan. It has a couple of different settings. You can choose how high you want the fan to go, or there are temperature sensors embedded in it so it can decide how much fanning youre likely to need. I thought it was going to get really caught up in my hair, actually. But amazingly, it doesnt seem to, although if i move my hair out of the way, obviously i could feel it blowing a bit more. Would i really wear this . Well, maybe if i was in a hot country it might feel quite nice. And i suppose it doesjust look like a pair of headphones around your neck. But still, the concept itself does feel a little over the top to me, although maybe i was just not born to be this cool. Rather conveniently, The Sun has just come out for my next item. I have shown you before on the Programme Audio sunglasses where you can listen to Music Or Talk on the phone via the glasses. This pair has a bit of difference, though. This prototype is called dusk and it is a pair of smart Transition Lens glasses so you can change the colour of the lenses according to what you are up to. Maybe youre reading, maybe youre driving, and maybe The Sunlight around you is changing. At the moment you can do it by a button on the side, but eventually theyre going to connect to an app and you will be able to do it on there. They just wont stay in the right position. But i guess they are just a prototype. If you wondered what this is, this is my cooler box. As you can see, it has speakers so i can connect that to my phone to play a little bit of music or maybe an old episode of click rights issues. Turn it on. I can now connect it to my my phones bluetooth and it is connected. Click theme plays. Recognise that . Finally, if you want to catch all of that Summer Fun on camera, here i have the latest take on the polaroid. I remember how much my dad loved his polaroid camera when i was a little girl. Now it is much, much smaller, rechargeable and, of course, it has a selfie mode. The brands latest release is the polaroid go. I cant do the pouting thing. Lets go for a smile. It can also do double exposure shots and has a timer. Now i just leave that there for a few minutes upside down. How did it go . Well, it looks like a polaroid oh, the nostalgia but the thing is we are so used to doing pictures on our phones now that if you got your eyes shut or its a bad picture you just take more. Each one of these you print is pretty expensive so you sort of want to get every picture right. Yep, over £1 per photo. And that is it for the short version of the programme. The full Length Show can be found on iplayer. The Click Team are about to take a break for a couple of weeks, we will leave you with some repeats but full service will be resumed in september. A mixed bag of weather through the weekend, quite a lot of dry weather on the cards, this is this morning in brighton. Some sunshine there and some of us will continue to see the Sunshine Today and Tomorrow But Rain in the forecast for other places. We have an area of low pressure moving on from The Atlantic slowly pushing its way eastwards. It will bring increasing amounts of cloud across england and wales, a few spots across england and wales which will peter out. Light rain into Northern England. For scotland, a day of sunshine and showers, most of the showers in the north, they will easily later on. Some sunshine in the central belt but turning easy for northern island and Northern England. Some rain towards birmingham but towards cardiff and london, it should remain dry. In the drier and brighter weather in the South West, temperatures of 23 or 20 for degrees. The high teens further north. Through this evening and overnight we keep the cloud pushing rain into island and scotland. A little rain in the South West but towards the South East drying humid, 15 degrees overnight. Single figures for scotland. Tomorrow, the slow moving area of high pressure, quite a few different Weather Fronts on the map producing rain. Some heavy showers through northern and north east scotland. Some early rain for northern island and Southern Scotland which will fizzle away. A few more showers in the west of england and wales. The South East largely dry, 23 degrees, the temperatures in the north coming down. 15 degrees for stornoway. At cooling trend continues through sunday into monday. We join this praise from the North West so although it is very hot across europe, temperatures are below average here. I monday, a lot of dry weather, one or two showers but with the North West breeze, the best of the North West breeze, the best of The Sunshine towards the east and temperatures around 20 degrees on monday. If you have plans for the week ahead, the weather does not look too bad. High Pressure Building bringing dry and settled weather. 0ne bringing dry and settled weather. One or two showers dotted so not completely dry. Fairly light winds as well so some very usable weather if you have plans but temperatures remaining below average, still further south across europe, especially spain, extreme temperatures will continue for another few days. Temperatures will continue for another few days. Thank you very much. Last month it was announced that children aged 12 to 15 who are clinically vulnerable should be vaccinated against Covid 19. But four weeks on, some families in england say their children still havent had theirjab. Nhs england have said those who are eligible will get their offer before schools return in september. Katherine Da Costa reports. Where is the chicken . Thats right, you clever girl lovely, and what a lovely smile as well. Well done. 15 year old veronica enjoying an online Therapy Session at home in South West London during lockdown in february. Immunity isnt going to have time to have kicked in, in a meaningful way. Katharine Da Costa, Bbc News. I hope the jab comes soon and good luck with the new school as well. Stay with us, headlines coming up. Hello, this is breakfast with rogerjohnson and Naga Munchetty. Lets go back to our main story. Thursdays Mass Shooting in plymouth which left five people dead was the worst incident of its kind in 11 years. Last night, Hundreds Of People gathered In The City to pay tribute to the victims. Lets remind ourselves of the timeline of events. The attack started at a house on biddock drive, where 22 year old Jake Davison shot and killed his mother. He then went out onto the road and fired again, killing three year old Sophie Martyn and her Father Lee. The gunman then headed to a nearby park, shooting and injuring another Man And Woman theyre both being treated in hospital. He then stayed In The Park and killed 59 year old Stephen Washington, before heading to henderson place, where he shot his fifth victim 66 year old Kate Shepherd. She later died in hospital. It was here that Jake Davison turned the gun on himself, and was declared dead at the scene. An investigation has now been launched into why davison had his Firearm And Licence confiscated and then returned, just weeks before the attack. We can speak now to the leader of plymouth city council, nick kelly. Thank you very much for talking to us. I know you have had much as everyone has in the area, a Lot Todayjust Everyone has in the area, a Lot Today just over the everyone has in the area, a Lot Todayjust over the last everyone has in the area, a Lot Today just over the last two everyone has in the area, a Lot Todayjust over the last two days. Certainly the centre had a lot of Community Health workers but very few residents have come to speak at this point but The Ones i did speak tojust this point but The Ones i did speak to just really wanted to recount what happened, get things off their chest and a Hug And Reassurance that things will get better. Last night at the Candlelit Vigil there were a couple of hundred people, it was a very dignified get and i think again that was as symbolic of people coming together in the community to pay their respects to a Loved Ones that have been lost from this community and our city. Lets see what the investigation unearthsl your personal opinion . Lets see i what the investigation unearths and try and piece together exactly why the licence was suspended and techno in the first place and then white was deemed appropriate to give back. It could be a wider issue with regards to greater scrutiny of people that are given powers because last thing we want as a nation or a city is for anybody else to endure and go through the horrific actions and go through the horrific actions and loss of five innocent lives and to people have got serious injuries in hospital. My own view with regards to guns is i think why d you need a gun in the first place . If there is a very legitimate reason i wouldnt want to take guns where everybody but i think gun crime in plymouth is unheard of, perhaps nationally more of an issue, so we just need to review it, look at the facts and the specific case and hopefully if tighter legislation is required that will be forthcoming. Thank you for your time. One of the key questions for investigators is what role Jake Davisons belief in Incel Culture played in his attack. Incels are members of misogynistic online groups of men who blame women for their sexual failings. They have been linked to a number of violent acts around the world. Questions have been raised over whether davison should have been on a Uk Government watch list. Were joined now by former chief prosecutor nazir afsal. Thank you for coming in. Lets catch up on the sport this morning. Gavin is with us. The english League'>Premier League back with A Bang Last Night and a winning return for brentford. What a start for brentford in the League'>Premier League they hadnt played in the top flight since 1947, but they stunned arsenal in the Opening Game of the new season. First sergi canos drove his shot low past bernd leno to open the scoring, and things only got worse for the gunners. Some terrible defending in the second half allowed christian norgaard to head home from a long throw. The game finished 2 0 to the newly promoted side as arsenal struggled without some of their big stars. I think we top performed but there must be a level above top performing, what the fans did and the fans were absolutely amazing. That was more than a ten out of ten performance in terms of the atmosphere, the constant singing, constant backing throughout the game, amazing. Seven more Games Today with liverpool, Leicester And Chelsea all in action. The lunchtime game is at Old Trafford, where around 75,000 are expected to watching the Cross Pennine Rivalry between Manchester United and leeds. Leeds will be looking to build on their ninth placed finish on their return to the top flight last season, whilst ole gunnar solskjaer s united are aiming to mount a title challenge, afterfailing to keep pace with Rivals Man City last time out. All the build up can be found on the bbc sport website. England will be looking Tojoe Root later at lords. They have work to do this morning 245 runs behind india, in the second test. India were bowled out for 364 on day two, pegged back in large part thanks to James Anderson with five wickets. Another stellar showing from him. Englands batting started terribly, losing two wickets in two balls with haseeb hameed out first ball for nought on his return to the side. Once again the hosts turned to Captainjoe Root to steady the ship as england finished the day on 119 3. And finally. A lot of dry weather, some sunshine through the weekend but also rain for some of us. That is because we have an area of low pressure moving from the west. Quite a slow moving area of low pressure, not particularly active but it will spill more cloud in a crossing and dumped wales through the day. Already a few splashes of rain across parts of wales and let patchy rain is ignored. For scotland and showers but the showers tending to ease this afternoon. The best sunshine towards the east and temperatures 15 20 on monday. If you have plans we have mostly high pressure in charge, a lot of dry weather, some sunny spells here and there but temperatures are not great for the time of year. Latte temperatures are not great for the time of year earlier this year, we brought you the story of Jack Berry a 14 year old boy with autism whose paintings of Military Aircraft were made into a book for charity. Since covid restrictions were eased, jack and his family have been travelling to see some of the people and planes that inspired his artwork. John maguire was there. Hello, jack lovely to see you. Oh, thats for me . Thank you very much Indeed. This is the moment two friends, although generations apart in age, met in person for the very first time. We have been waiting for this day, havent we . Really have. Personally, i thought wed missed each other all our lives. John meller is a veteran of the second world war. He served in the raf as a crewman on Board Lancaster bombers. And Jack Berry, who is autistic and non verbal, is a keen artist. He has turned some of his paintings of aircraft into a book, raising money for military charities. Jack has been touring around aviation museums to meet some of the people who help with his book, and one of those who inspired him isjohn. Jacks book, as i say, it shows how artistic he is. His drawings are absolutely perfect. I have got one of his books, i look at it basically every day. He is a real artist, No Doubt about that. They have connected via their computers, but this is a chance for the two to meet Face To face and to exchange gifts. This model of the lancaster was made byjohn during the war. Forjack, this is a chance to meet one of his heroes. Obviouslyjack loves history, so it has been an opportunity for him to actually learn something from john, notjust by Social Media or zoom, but actually Face To face, and the fact that he has given that lancaster and how he has made it will probably mean quite a lot to jack, and he will probably take it into school and tell the other children about it, so it has been really good. Resplendent in his specially made uniform, todayjack is at the international Bomber Command Centre in lincoln. He and john are here for a special service, and to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of bomber command. Other veterans and their families are here to reflect, and to remember. It means quite a lot, because it lets you see that people still appreciate it, what we went through, of all ages. From youngsters to the very old. Got to be in the war and make friends like i did, youd look across at the tables where we used to meet them, because you made friends with them, and to fly and come back and then realise they wouldnt come back ever. A dakota from the battle of Britain Memorial Flight draws overhead through Blue Skies. And in the gift shop, they spot a copy of jacks book. Flying high in The Sunlit silence. His painting has helped him immensely, especially through coping with lockdowns. And the historical Military Aircraft Community has rallied around to help him, so now jack is determined to thank them for taking him under their wings. Doesnt he look fantastic in the special uniform . We will go from the young and learning history and going back even further now. Way, Way Back to 150 Million years ago. Have a look at this image. Now youre probably thinking this is taken from a Fairy Tale or fantasy novel, but this actually an artists impression of a creature that really existed in thejurassic period. Its remains havejust been discovered by scientists in australia who say its the closest thing we have to a real Life Dragon. They say the flying reptile would have had a 23 Foot Wingspan and a spear like mouth filled with sharp teeth. I guess it didnt breathe fire. Lets speak to palaeontologist Dr David hone from Queen Mary University of london, who can tell us more. Good morning to you. You need a threshold of the virus . You need a threshold of exposure to guarantee you will be infected so the sweet spot in working out whether someone has had significant exposure, that is the critical question and initially the 3pp critical question and initially the app people were using was over calling that which led to the so called pingdemic. It has been scaled back slightly but the bottom line is it is trying to estimate how much exposure a person has had and how likely are they to have run into that magic infectious dose which will give them a high probability of catching the infection. There are two parts this question. Good morning, julie, the answers you can test positive for quite some time after you have been infected. Although you may no longer be productively infected, shedding infectious virus from your body, there is a gem from the infection leaves binding of traces that it will trip over a test. A good analogy is if you have a very vigorous party in your house, the next day is someone with no you had had a party because all the remains of the party, empty champagne bottles, beer bottles and others, there would be clear evidence of a party. There is no party going on but there is evidence of the party that took place and that what the test will see, the residue of the infection in fragments of genetic material and there are enough to trigger the test positive even though the person is not infected or infectious. Last quite some time and we have a policy in hospital not to repeat test people within an envelope of time, in some cases 60 or 90 days to avoid the situation. It means people can run into difficulty if they need a negative test for something like travelling. Because you have had covid it does not mean you will follow into that situation but you have a higher likelihood of testing positive for a longer time for the reason i have just outlined. Just outlined. You mentioned hospitalisation, just outlined. You mentioned hospitalisation, a just outlined. You mentioned hospitalisation, a final just outlined. You mentioned i hospitalisation, a final question just outlined. You mentioned hospitalisation, a final question we have here from eric. Just to clarify, it is not 6000 admissions id, there is about 6000 people in hospital. The number of people in hospital. The number of people going into hospital is 700800 id, the people going into hospital is 700 800 id, the number of people on ventilators is about 800 across the country so the number of people and anyone time, about for percent of beds, that number is not growing quickly if at all which means people are going into hospital but recovering and going home which is really encouraging. This is because the vaccines are working, you are 95 predicted if you have been vaccinated compared to a person of a similar age vaccinated compared to a person of a similarage and vaccinated compared to a person of a similar Age And Risk profile who has not been vaccinated. It is an encouraging stage which has converted a very serious Stage Disease to a trivial disease for everyone. Were also seeing breakthrough in vaccinated people but do not be alarmed by that, we non respondents. About two thirds of the people we are seeing in hospital are unvaccinated who develop hospitalised cases which means the vaccines are working well in the majority of people so i think people should regard the Vaccine Failure is as unfortunate but it does happen, we are seeing infections and those vaccinated but critically in the majority of people they are not turning into hospitalisations like they did before. ,. ,. , ~ hospitalisations like they did before. ,. ,. , before. A cup of tea Football Focus returns for the new season on bbc one today at midday. Gavin is with us with the rest of the sport. Lets see some of the action on brentfords return to the top flight after more than 70 years. Stunned arsenal in the Opening Game of the new season. First sergi canos drove his shot low past bernd leno to open the scoring and things only got worse for the gunners. Some terrible defending in the second half allowed christian norgaard to head home from a long throw. The game finished 2 0 to the newly promoted side as arsenal struggled without some of their big stars. I think we top performed but there must be a level above top performing, what the fans did, and the fans were absolutely amazing. That was more than a ten out of ten performance in terms of the atmosphere, the constant singing, constant backing throughout the game, amazing. I dont think we deserve anything different. I dont think we deserve anything different, because little things, they scored from a long throw and then we they scored from a long throw and then we didnt have enough presence in the then we didnt have enough presence in the box then we didnt have enough presence in the box with the amount of situations in the box with the amount of situations they created in the second situations they created in the second half. You dont do that in the League'>Premier League, you dont win. Seven more Games Today with liverpool, Leicester And Chelsea all in action. It is the first game, of course its a big one. It creates it decides the mood, really, in the club, with the fans, with the players. Only got two more before a national break and then we will probably review, you know, if we are where we want to be. Because we have to start better than what we did last season, if we want to mount the challenge. Its 16 wins in 18 games now for Catalan Dragons Who continue to dominate this seasons super League. Englands batting started terribly, losing two wickets in two balls with haseeb hameed out first ball for nought on his return to the side. Once again the hosts turned to Captainjoe Root to steady the ship as england finished the day on 119 3. More hard work against a really talented indian attack, but the guys in the Dressing Room are really up for it, and all it takes is a couple of guys go on and get some big scores, a big partnership, and it gets us really back in this game. And in the hundred, crickets new shorter form of the game, the Birmingham Phoenix have gone to the top of the table after beating trent rockets. For most of us are fairly maybe you want to get out. For most of us are fairly decent maybe you want to get out. For most of us are fairly decent Weekend I of us are fairly decent weekend ahead. A bit of a mixed picture. This is the view in reading. A bit of cloud but some blue sky peeking through. Through the Weekend It will be a mix. For sauberto through. Through the Weekend It will be a mix. For sauber to stays dry with sunny spells all weekend but for other areas of it a bit of rain in the forecast. That rain is down to this low pressure approaching from the west and pushing patchy rain across parts of wales this morning and the Cloud Building across much of england and wales. Northern Ireland Clouding over it later. The rain gradually nudging northwards, approaching Northern Ireland and parts of Northern England later this afternoon. Predominantly things of the contrite with light winds. These temperatures a little down on the time of year pleasant enough. Cooler than average in the uk with things looking very hot once again further south across europe particularly in spain. Hate europe particularly in spain. We will keep across that. Lets focus on the situation in afghanistan and a warning from the us government that the taliban could be back in control of the capital, kabul, within a month. A number of countries are scrambling to help diplomats and citizens leave as militants continue to make gains across the country. Lets talk more about this with lord dannatt, whos a former head of the british army. Thank you very much for talking to us this morning. How do you feel about what internationally has been decided with Afghanistan And Military presence . I decided with Afghanistan And Military presence . Decided with Afghanistan And Milita resence . ,. , military presence . I think we would all aaree military presence . I think we would all agree we military presence . I think we would all agree we have military presence . I think we would all agree we have a military presence . I think we would all agree we have a tragedy i military presence . I think we would all agree we have a tragedy in i military presence . I think we would all agree we have a tragedy in the l all agree we have a tragedy in the making here. The consequence to a number of strategic errors that have been made by the government in washington, and by our own government in westminster but we are where we are. As far as the operation that is being launched now to extract Embassy Staff and british protect civilians, but has the right thing for our government today, it is a responsibility to look after our citizens both at home and abroad. But im afraid it doesnt stop there as far as im concerned. This is not a done deal yet. The taliban are not in cabo were in control of the whole country so i continue to call upon our government to send strong messages of support to send strong messages of support to the afghan government to try and pp up to the afghan government to try and prop up there will and their efforts to fight against the taliban. I think also we are also seeing a humanitarian crisis developing in the country and particularly in cabo. It is ok to send to extract our citizens but we have done it in the past. What about mounting a humanitarian operation to look after some of the refugees, build some camps and bring in humanitarian surprise, at least show the afghan government we are not completely abandoning them and that we still stand side by side with them. It is quite impossible to do that and i think our government should be thinking about that kind of response even though it has now pulled the plug on our wider military response. We are receiving news now, you will be aware of the second biggest cities were taken over by the taliban in recent days or yesterday, we are getting reports from writers that the taliban has captured the afghan city of holy Alarm Today around llo miles from the Capital Kabul. What does this say about the uk as a military Presence And Force in the world when it comes to committing to unrest . In the world when it comes to committing to unrest . What it says is what our committing to unrest . What it says is what our recent committing to unrest . What it says is what our recent defence committing to unrest . What it says is what our recent Defence Review L is what our recent Defence Review recognised is not my circumstances in which the uk could operate unilaterally and as far as in afghanistan are concerned it has been under the umbrella of nato and led by the United States in recent years and of course what we are seeing is the americans making and unfortunately early decision to withdraw by the 11th Of September this year. It quite surprises me our government has gone along with that. As far as the Van Dijk is concerned we have been told so many times we are studying the data and not the dates and what are we doing in afghanistan, we decide to get out at the 20 Year Point on the 90th anniversary of 9 11. That decision to withdraw like that has precipitated this advance by the taliban. What people have to remember is yes, up to 2014 we had over 10,000 british troops are and lost 457 of our comrades fell there but in the past five years we have had a very modest contribution is Indeed the americans have but what that has done is provide the technical and moral support to the afghan Army And Security forces to go on combating the taliban. They have been doing that very well and the tragedy is that very modest military support has now been pulled out to meet a 20 year artificial timeline of 9 11 with over consequent disasters. I get back to what i said, whatever other governments do at the british government has a responsibility if we want to make global britain any more than a Bumper Sticker to make strong noises of support to the afghan government to restore our aid to afghanistan, but we have cut by two thirds in the last year our overseas aid to afghanistan and that is bad enough, let alone withdrawing our troops. Why not well we have troops on the ground start to make a contribution to alleviate the humanitarian crisis that is now gathering In Kabul. How can it be possible for us to do that . There might come a moment when our last trips have got to go but until that point let us do what we can to help with the humanitarian crisis even if we have given up helping on the military side. 5 we have given up helping on the military side we have given up helping on the military side. We have given up helping on the milita side. ~ ,. ,. ,. , military side. As the former head of the british army, military side. As the former head of the british army, do military side. My of kin expressing our condolences. My own middle son is built in iraq and afghanistan. Of course i understand the anger and that is really the point that i am trying to make. We have achieved a lot in afghanistan over the last five, ten, 15 years, giving them aggressive a better society. Women have a better place in civil society, girls can go to school. Lets continue to encourage the afghans to fight to provide that and then we can preserve some of the legacy which we have given them. I understand the angen have given them. I guess i will be some people watching who want to be familiar with tony bennett. He has been around for so many years but perhaps not so much in the spotlight in recent times. Just a fantastic voice. He came up upper hard background in queens, only really got to study to be a singer due to the fact that he was in the work and he got to study theatre as a result of being in the Gi Bill and he went on to develop this career as a fantastic singer. I think one of the reasons why we are talking about him now so much is because his career did dip subsequent to the rise of the beatles and bob and what you might like to coat the modern era. He did it quite a terrible trough in the late 705 but then he managed to have this fantastic second act in his career and in the 905 which is when i first heard of him, he was on mtv, mtv unplugged performance where he was singing alongside Kd Lang and Elvis Costello and these artists saw in him the quality that transcended generations and would never shift. In subsequent years he has performed with Lady Gaga, laura jones, amy winehouse, he has always been there and always represented this era, he is this untouchable relic of this area who just kept performing and entertaining. You mentioned him being in good enough voice, he definitely wasnt singing the way he did in his youth, but that sort of length the performance that i saw an extra level of poignancy. He was 92, a mere 92 when i saw him performing in london. But there was a certain, you definitely want under any mistake that this was a man of advanced Years Singing and his age brought a new level to the songs he was singing. At one point he sang i will stay younger than spring and when he sung it as a young man it went something but when you are a man of 92 singing these songs, it is an extra power. He sank the james ingram song how do you keep the music playing . If tony could have had his way he would have been singing right to The End forever. That is why he was still performing, he loved it.
