A Prison Term without having gone to trial. At least 45 people have died after a Military Plane crashed in the Southern Philippines up to 50 survivors have been taken to hospital. And Mesmerising Aerialfootage Of Sheep goes viral well have more on that. Hello and welcome if you re watching in the uk or around the world. The Uk Government has suggested that wearing a Face Covering could become a matter of personal choice, when coronavirus restrictions in england are eased, which is expected in two weeks time. The Housing Secretary Robertjenrick said the public must learn to live with the virus and use their own judgment. The Opposition Labour Party agrees that the economy must open up, but it wants to see the science behind the governments decisions. Our political correspondent Chris Mason has been giving me the latest. We will get the Direction Of Travel from the government effectively saying that in england in a fortnight, that last stage of unlocking of the so called Road Map will happen. Subject to the data, which will be examined in a week, in other words, halfway between now and july 19, the pattern since the Road Map was published in february. We will remember those dates set out, every single date was met on time, every single one apart from the last one which was due to happen a fortnight ago and is now highly likely to happen in a fortnight. Lets get to the specifics of what we are told this evening is coming. Some of the Review Work that has been going on looking at some of the measures and whether they can be eased will be published tomorrow on social distancing, on so called certification, this idea of covid passports, for internal use, in other to grant other words to grant you access to particular venues, so we will hear the outcome of those, we will also hear the governments view as you were hinting at the headlines on the one Metre Plus Rule on Face Coverings and working from home, and on Care Home visits, with the expectation that there will be a significant liberalisation that those rules, which will be swept away. What we may not get tomorrow, we will not get News Tomorrow about travel, the expectation is that the Red List will remain in place for some time. We will not get tomorrow any change of the rules as far as schools are concerned and this increasingly controversial policy around bubbles where one positive case in a bubble of potentially 300 children leaves them all shunted off home to be working from the Kitchen Table for umpteen days. There will be no change on that. Looks like we will wait until the Summer Holiday in england before that policy is tweaked. So when we get to a fortnight s time, assuming the data is ok from the Government Perspective in one week, it will not be entirely back to normal, but it will be a significant leap towards it. Lets fix the date in our head, you said a week, so monday the 12th Ofjuly . When the final data is looked at and we get a definitive answer, tomorrow will be it is highly likely that kind of answer. Remind us how labour have reacted. Their argument is they also want to see lots of these restrictions removed. Rachel reeves the Shadow Chancellor was in this very chair this morning talking to Andrew Marr and saying that, but they want to see more scientific evidence. They say that they have heard from the ministers. They want to hear from the scientists. What we do know scientifically is that, if you look at the data, there is no doubt that there is an increase in the number of positive cases, the graph is doing that, and the expectation from ministers and from the scientific modelling is that that will continue as restrictions are eased and logically you would expect that, but because of the Vaccination Programmes, the rate of hospitalisation is only taking up at a much, much steadier pace, and clearly, and we know all the way through, the key concern of government has been that they dont want people ending up in hospital because of the fear that the nhs would be overwhelmed, but what we will get from ministers increasingly in the next couple of weeks is an emphasis on us having to learn to live with covid, the reality that it will be there, that people will get it, the reality that some people will be ill, and yes, some people will die, but because of the success of the Vaccination Programme in reducing that hospitalisation rate, the judgment is that society has to be allowed to reopen. Natos Military Mission in afghanistan is now all but over, the bbc understands. America and its allies, including britain, arrived in the country in 2001, following the September 11th attacks. Two decades later, the last of the troops are leaving, save around A Thousand that will provide security. But as the us withdraws, the taliban is resurgent and its warned that if any international forces, including contractors, remain in afghanistan, that they will be treated as an occupying force. From kabul, Yogita Limaye reports. Afghan soldiers now managing what used to be americas biggest base. International forces making a quiet, hasty retreat. People have voted in elections. 0nce repressed by the taliban, afghan women are in school and in work. For this woman, an mp, fears the taliban will be back in power. The women are finished. It would be like black days for afghan women. Notjust women, all the people. There wont be any rights, any freedom, any life here. How do you view international forces leaving afghanistan at this time . They are leaving so irresponsibly. After 20 years they just went into an agreement with the taliban and said to the taliban that its ok, you can do whatever you do. Its a failure. 20 years ago, foreign forces arrived here with a fierce push. The moment in 2001 when the hardline islamist Taliban Regime was driven out of kabul. Americas response to the 9 11 attacks, with the uk and other nato allies. The united States Military has now begun strikes against alqaeda Terrorist Training Camps and military installations of the Taliban Regime in afghanistan. Years of fighting followed in provinces across the country. This is helmand in the south, where some of the fiercest battles were fought. Hundreds of british and foreign troops died here. Thousands of afghan soldiers. The taliban were kept at bay. But not defeated. Finally, the us signed a deal with the militant group last year. Agreeing to fully withdraw foreign forces. They are leaving amidst rising violence. This is one of the roads that leads out of kabul. In the province just beyond, the taliban are battling afghan government forces. Thats how close the fighting is to the capital. Battles are being fought in more than half of the countrys provinces. Hundreds are dying every day. Thousands being displaced. Every day, more areas are falling to the taliban. But the group says there is no violence. It told the bbc that hundreds of afghan soldiers are defecting to the taliban a claim the government denies. From their political office in doha, a taliban spokesman also told me that residual foreign troops would be considered an occupying force. All foreign forces should withdraw from the country, whether they are a contractor, adviser or trainers. Because they were a part of occupation. Thats a violation. We will react. But that reaction will be based on the decision of our leadership. He said embassies and ngos would not be targeted. The foreign War In Afghanistan has ended. Its legacy will be determined what happens here next. Yogita limaye, Bbc News, kabul. The former president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, has fiercely criticsed the judges who sentenced him to fifteen months injail, insisting that he wont turn himself in. Hundreds of his supporters have been camping outside his home, saying theyre protecting him from being arrested. Mr zuma was handed the Prison Term on tuesday for failing to appear before a corruption inquiry. Hes been given time to challenge the decision. Speaking to reporters at his home, Mr Zuma claimed the country was sliding back to apartheid rule. The fact that i was lambasted with a punitive Jail Sentence without trial is something which should induce a sense of shock. 0ur Correspondent Nomsa Maseko is in nkandla and says it has been an eventful day. It has been an eventful day with the spotlight firmly on South Africas former president , Jacob Zuma hundreds of his supporters lined the streets and also, i gather, at his home, here in nkanga, saying that they were forming a Human Shield to prevent him from getting arrested, but earlier in the day, there were some confrontations between Jacob Zumas supporters and police, who were trying to prevent his supporters from going to his house to gather there, because that gathering was illegal, and the level 4 regulations here in South Africa aimed at curbing covid 19 infections, but later on, Jacob Zuma addressed his supporters and said that it would have been a messy confrontation if police had been to arrest him, and he also said that he was not scared of going to jail, he had been there before, but this time around, he refuses to go, because he believes that it was an injustice to be sentenced to a Prison Term, without having gone to trial, so as things stand, Jacob Zuma is not going to hand himself over to authorities because his lawyers have asked the constitutional court to rescind the judgment that they made when they said that Mr Zuma needs to go to jail for 15 months, so, as things stand, Mr Zumas lawyers will go back to the constitutional court on the 12th Ofjuly, where the court has said that it is prepared to hear him out. A military Transport Plane has crashed in the Southern Philippines as it tried to land on the island of holo. At least 45 people were killed in the crash and as many as 50 survivors are in hospital. Most of those aboard the Hercules Plane were soldiers whod just finished their basic training. They were being deployed to fight militants who operate in the Southern Philippines. David Campa Nale reports. A large ball of black smoke was seen above the wreckage of the Transport Plane, A Lockheed C130 hercules supplied to the philippines by the united states. The head of the Armed Forces said it had missed the runway it is not clear why and then tried to regain power, but had failed and hit the ground. Many of those On Board were soldiers. They were flying from mindanao to the provincial Airport Ofjolo when the plane came down in patikul. Remarkably, a number of soldiers were seenjumping out of the aircraft before it hits the ground, inspiring them from the explosion caused by the crash, according to an army statement. Dozens of soldiers were pulled from the site of the burning wreckage. They are now receiving hospital treatment. The soldiers were part of the military s stepped up presence in the Southern Philippines to combat islamist militants such as the abu sayyaf group. 0fficials there said there was no sign that the aircraft had been attacked and an investigation would start once the Rescue Operation was complete. Many of those On Board had only recently completed basic military training. David campanale, Bbc News. At least four people have been killed in a wildfire in cyprus. Helicopters tried to douse the wildfire, fanned by strong winds and high temperatures. Cyprus has been experiencing a week long heatwave, and temperatures rising to a0 celsius, posing a challenge for firefighters trying to tackle the blaze. Planes assisted by british troops and equipment stationed on the Mediterranean Island are fighting the flames, but cyprus has called for more help. Israel has come to the rescue, and Eu Neighbours are sending more planes to help put out the fires. Cuba is preparing to evacuate residents along its Southern Coast amid fears that tropical Storm Elsa could wreak havoc on the island. The storm has already left a trail of destruction through the Eastern Caribbean killing a young boy and his grandmother in the Dominican Republic and a man in St Lucia whose house collapsed On Top of him. The government in cuba has opened shelters and moved to protect crucial Sugarcane And Cocoa crops. Elsa is currently overjamaica and is beginning to be felt on cubas Southern Coast. A tropical Storm Warning is in place there with expected wind speeds of up to A Hundred kilometres an hour. People in Havana Arent taking any chances either translation we are movingj because the building is falling. We need to move now, because of the Storm L thats coming, things are grim, and as a stupid and say, you need to move, and thats how we keep on going. In miami, the demolition of a tower block, which partially collapsed more than a week ago, has been brought forward due to Safety Fears about Storm Elsa. 2a people have been confirmed dead so far and Search And Rescue efforts for 121 people missing have been suspended. Daniella Levine Cava is the mayor of miami dade county. 190 when people are accounted for. 121 not accounted for. As soon as the preparations are ready, the site is secure in the team is ready to 90, is secure in the team is ready to go, we will begin the demolition. Breaking down this building in a controlled manner. It is critical to expanding our scope of the Search And Rescue effort. And allowing us to explore the area closest to the building which is currently not been accessible to our first responders given the great risk from this building, which is insecure. We are of course continue to closely monitor the progress of the possible impacts of tropical Storm Elsa, as hazardous weather could force us to temporarily pause work. All Covid Restrictions could go later this month in england including the use of Face Coverings afghanistans troops patrol their country alone as the final nato forces pull out after nearly 20 years. South africas former president Jacob Zuma Days Hell defy a Court Order to hand himself in to start a 15 month Jail Sentence. Israel is in talks with other countries about a deal to unload its surplus of Pfizer Coronavirus vaccines, which are due to expire at the end of this month. More than A Million doses may have to be thrown away, after attempts to broker a Swap Deal with the uk failed. Last month, palestinian leaders rejected about A Million of the vaccines from israel, saying they were too close to their expiry date. Israels Health Ministry says any deal will have to be approved by pfizer. Professor Adam Finn is a member of Thejoint Committee on vaccination and immunisation thejcvi. There is an absolute humanitarian imperative that these vaccines end up in somebody s arms, preferably some people who are at high risk of being exposed to or dying of covid. There is a desperate need to sort this. I do not know the risks of it not being sorted but my experience working within the uk in a Research Environment during the last 18 months is things can happen much more quickly than was the case in the pre covid era, so one would hope that on the international stage, similarly the right people will make decisions swiftly to make sure vaccines do not go to waste. I think in countries with the financial muscle have ordered more vaccines than they need and there needs to be a mechanism to make sure they do not go to waste. The un has been calling out for donations to the covax programme, which would be one way of making sure the vaccines are equally distributed. There are other bilateral deals that might be able to be done. In terms of what you asked about the extension, the duration of the safe use of the vaccine has to be evidence based, not arbitrarily decided to keep the vaccine for longer. As we go forward we learn more about the stability and that is why we are seeing extensions happening. Aid agencies have begun distributing a strawberry flavoured tablet for children living with hiv in six african countries. The global Health Agency Unitaid says One Hundred Thousand packs of the anti retro viral drug are to be given to children in nigeria, malawi, uganda, kenya, zimbabwe and benin. Paintings from Andy Warhol are being exhibited for the first time at the Tehran Museum Of Contemporary Art in iran. The masterpieces had been left for decades in the Museums Storage away from the public s eye. Sara monetta reports. Bright colours, nervous lines, andy Warhols Work is unmistakable. But these paintings are even more extraordinary because theyve never been seen before. Now theyre on display for the first time in their home, tehran. Translation when i heard about a new exhibition on Andy Warhol, i thought it was happening abroad. But no, its happening here. Its a real surprise. I didnt know we had any warhol work. These, like hundreds of other pieces, were bought in the 1960s, by irans empress, who posed for warhol herself. After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, these artworks remained locked away from sight in the Museums Storage. The empress collection is one of the largest in the world, it counts 3,500 masterpieces and has been valued at over Three Billion euros. The museum s curators think it s time to start sharing their treasure with the public. People are much more up to date in iran than about the west than west about iran. Andy warhol broke down barriers in the art world. The curators hope his work could do the same with some of the barriers between iran and the west. An israeli videographer has captured an unusual view of sheep. Just Take A Look at this. The mesmerising and rather soothing aerial footage was shot by drone above a farm in Peace Valley in yokneam in northern israel. The photographer is Lior Patel from high fa and he admits he was really rather shocked when his images went viral on facebook. After the weather we ll Take A Look at tomorrow s front pages in the papers our guestsjoining Me Tonight are tony and caroline. Now it s time for a look at the weather with helen willetts. Good evening. Sunday Evening Showers brought Flash Flooding to edinburgh with widespread thunderstorms because we have low pressure sat On Top of the uk which is with us through the day ahead. We are watching this developing area of low pressure bringing some more persistent rain in later. Still plenty of showers as we get going on monday morning, perhaps some in the South And East as well as those close to the Weather System in the north, so a mild start to the day. But it looks as if we will see more sunshine, compared with sunday across the southern half of the uk, still showers in northern england, Northern Ireland and scotland with mist and low cloud near the coast, and some of those will turn out to be heavy with some thunder. You cannot rule out the Odd One further south but fewer than we saw during sunday. Some strong sunshine but look at this coming in from mid afternoon to the south and west. More sunshine, so high levels of pollen, Grass Pollen at this time of year for many, something to be aware of if you are heading off to wimbledon, for the day. Quite a lot of dry weather for the most part, but, come the evening, we will see those clouds thickening, and Rain Rolling in, and that is a risk for tuesday as well. I wouldn t like to rule out showers on wednesday and thursday but this is the low pressure we had been watching, there is scope for torrential downpours with localised Flash Flooding in the north and then this system comes in sweeping rain across england and wales during the course of Monday Evening and overnight, so several hours of quite Heavy Rain but also some unseasonally windy weather, Gale Force winds and gusts of 40 50 mph in strength. That is unusual for this time of year and combined with the rain could cause some disruption. Further north and west, some showers around on tuesday, low pressure making its way to the north sea, Dragging Rain Up across the East Coast of England And Scotland with showers following on behind, so the pattern remains quite unsettled, so sunshine in between 18 19, so not quite as high as the day ahead. That low pressure starts to drift and fill further north and east, so the isobars overnight not as windy by the time we get you wednesday and thursday, and in fact a ridge of high pressure starts to build, dampending down the Shower Activity but still some in the forecast until later in the week. Goodbye for now. Thus hello. This is Bbc News with me, lukwesa burak. We ll be taking a look at tomorrow morning s papers in a moment. First, the headlines. Borisjohnson prepares to outline plans to lift lockdown in england. More than 20 Million people watched england s brilliant night in rome as they thrashed ukraine, and moved onto the Semi Finals of the euros
