Very concerning when you look at the face of it, what happened, but it does. Maybe it is partly the british governments trying to kind of downplay it. A it it does sound like they expected some sort of pushback from the russians. They were obviously. The statement says they were following a normal path through these waters, so obviously taking a stand, the international community does not recognise these waters as russian, so i think they probably were expecting some pushback. Police officer, first police tragic case. Police officer, first Police Officer in 35 years to be found Police Officer in 35 years to be found guilty of manslaughter for a fairly barbaric attempt at what would fairly barbaric attempt at what would appear would be interest of dalian would appear would be interest of Dalian Atkinson, former Aston Villa Commission premiership football player. He was going premiership football player. He was going to Mentor Health problems, was going to Mentor Health problems, was severely disturbed, and he was restrained was severely disturbed, and he was restrained by this Police Officer who was restrained by this Police Officer who was convicted of this manslaughter, through what seemed to be quite manslaughter, through what seemed to be quite appalling violence, tasering him some 33 seconds, kicking tasering him some 33 seconds, kicking them so hard and he had twice kicking them so hard and he had twice that kicking them so hard and he had twice that there was blood found on his laces. Twice that there was blood found on his laces, this was deemed by The Court his laces, this was deemed by The Court not his laces, this was deemed by The Court not to his laces, this was deemed by The Court not to be anywhere near a proportionate use of force. He was not convicted of murder, which was an option not convicted of murder, which was an option available, but was convicted an option available, but was convicted of manslaughter. The family convicted of manslaughter. The family pleased at what they thought wasjustice. They believe their son wasjustice. They believe their son was murdered. And that will give them was murdered. And that will give them some sense of, i suppose, closure, them some sense of, i suppose, closure, but them some sense of, i suppose, closure, but it will open again the debate closure, but it will open again the debate why he was subdued with such excessive debate why he was subdued with such excessive force, why that was necessary, and was there a racial element necessary, and was there a racial element to necessary, and was there a racial element to it . Element to it . And i suppose the other question, element to it . And i suppose the other question, sonia, element to it . And i suppose the other question, sonia, is element to it . And i suppose the other question, sonia, is it element to it . And i suppose the other question, sonia, is it has. Other question, sonia, is it has taken five years. Taken five years. Yeah, thats ri. Ht. Taken five years. Yeah, thats right and taken five years. Yeah, thats right and i taken five years. Yeah, thats right. And i think taken five years. Yeah, thats right. And | think that taken five years. Yeah, thats. Right. And i think that probably speaks to delays in the Justice System due to underfunding. It takes so long now for cases to come to trial full but also i think it will open up questions about corruption in the police force. This is a Police Officer who has been accused of lying in court to cover up his manslaughter, of this poor man, so i think it does open up questions. But i think obviously this is a sort of individualjudgment. I think it does raise these questions. First of all, there are questions about how the police treat people undergoing severe Mental Health distress. That sort of violence is obviously not appropriate, and where the police not better trained . Mental health services are in crisis in this country and we are increasingly seeing the police getting involved because, actually, it ends up being the service of last resort when there is no one else to call, and Police Officers really need to be trained. But, yeah, absolutely, there is this element of institutionalised racism. And we know from the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry that the met and other Police Office forces in this country have a history at a Track Record of structural racism, and this is not necessarily conscious racism, but it is Police Officers seeing black men as dangerous, more violent, and treating them accordingly. Things have got a lot better since the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry. Actually the met have come under lots of fire under recent years because Stop And Search inquiries of young black men have gone up since the Stephen Ward inquire. We know the police have a Track Record of treating black men terribly because their prejudice and see them as being more violent. Qm. See them as being more violent. 0k, ust to see them as being more violent. 0k, just to remind see them as being more violent. 0k, just to remind you we did hear from just to remind you we did hearfrom West Mercia Police earlier today, who apologised over the event, but lets turn to the Front Of the daily telegraph. Itjust speeds it up. Brought in the delta variant. In very quickly becomes the dominant strain. I think this is probably gone to lead to tensions within the eu, though. Germany is a lot less dependent on british tourism, britts going to the med to enjoy The Sun, than other country like spain, for example, italy, countries like malta which may be put on the green list tomorrow, so i think merkel s Point Is Travel is opening up merkel s Point Is Travel is opening up across the continent, across the schengen zone, so the eu probably needs to act more as one block, but i think it will creed a lot of tension, with countries who are much more reliant on pretty tourism and therefore may be inclined to take less of a hard line view. But it does not go far enough, and Britain Use to lead The World on nutrition around salt, so we where one of the first countries to reduce full Salt Level intakes at a population level. Food manufacturers had to bring down Salt Levels over time, and actually the real way to do it would be with Fat And Sugar in a similar way, and other countries are doing that. They mimicked our approach with assault with great successful Subs Government is too laissez faire, two hands off, but this is such a mounting health crisis, when you look at the cost of obesity, the years it takes all peoples lives. And the fact you look at primary school. It is really kind of quite disgraceful. And it does come down to the fact that the actually, manufacturers sell Foods Convenience that are just packed with Fat And Sugar because it is the quickest way, it is cheap, it is addictive and it is easy to sell and you get a ratcheting of fat, with manufacturers competing with each other on that, and you really do need government intervention. Any three of france, portugal, Germany And Hungary could have qualified for the last 16 from group f. The end result, though, means that england will play germany at wembley in the last 16. And wrapping up an enthralling finish is ben croucher. It was nicknamed the group of death, but this was the Night Euro 2020 came to life. Well, whatever the stadium looked like in munich, this game lit up the tournament. Plenty of rain, but take a bow, hungary. The outsiders in the group . It seems nobody told adam szalai. Well, earlier this evening, Sweden And Spain secured their qualification from group e. Three time champions spain got their first win of the tournament with a 5 0 victory over slovakia, this bizarre own goal from Newcastles Martin Dubravka opening the scoring. Manchester city players Aymeric Laporte and Ferran Torres also got on the scoresheet in seville, and the result means the spaniards will play croatia in the last 16 in copenhagen on monday. Poland are out despite the best efforts of robert lewandowski. He struck twice as they fought back from 2 0 down against sweden. But substitute Viktor Clarsson scored in the 93rd minute to send the swedes through as Group Winners. And Theyll Play Ukraine in glasgow.
