You can get everyone safe globally, it is going to make us much safer as well. The other headlines at five. There are fresh calls to delay the lifting of the last covid restrictions in england on the 21st Ofjune, after a rise in cases of the Delta Variant. And the wait for the fans is almost over. The delayed euros Kick Off in a few hours time, with the Opening Match. Italy against turkey, in rome. Hello a warm welcome to falmouth just along the coast from Carbis Bay where british prime Minister Borisjohnson has opened the G7 Summit this afternoon. A Summit Mrjohnson says is badly needed. The focus of Todays Discussion is how to build back better and greener as the World tries to emerge from the pandemic. The Prime Minister told his fellow leaders, that collectively they had to learn the lessons of the 2008 9 financial crash, when the recovery he said was uneven, with the inequality it created still an issue today. It is genuinely wonderful to see everybody in person. I cannot tell you how much of a difference it makes, will be going through the most wretched pandemic that our countries have faced, our lifetimes, maybe longer. Much longer. And i think this is a meeting that genuinely needs to happen because we need to make sure that we learn the lessons from the pandemic and make sure that we do not repeat some of the errors that we doubtless made over the course of the last 18 months or so and we need to make sure that we now allow our economies to recover. And i think that they have the potential to bounce back very strongly and theres all sorts of reasons for being optimistic. But it is vital that we do not repeat this mistakes of the last great crisis, the last great economic recession in 2008 when the recovery was not uniform across all forms of society and i think what is going wrong with this pandemic and what risks being a lasting scar is that i think the inequalities may be entrenched and we need to make sure as we recover, we level up across our societies and we build back better and i think that we have a huge opportunity to do that because at g7, we are united in our vision for a cleaner, greener, solution to the problems of Climate Change and in those ideas and technologies which we are all addressing together, i think there is the potential to generate many millions of high wage, High Skilljobs and i think that is what the people of our countries want us to focus on. They want us to be sure that we are beating the pandemic together and discussing how we will never have a repeat of what we have seen and also that we are building back better together. That we are building back better touether. ,. , together. That meeting lasted an hour and a together. That meeting lasted an hour and a half together. That meeting lasted an hour and a half and together. That meeting lasted an hour and a half and the together. That meeting lasted an hour and a half and the set together. That meeting lasted an hour and a half and the set of hour and a half and the set of leaders are now making their way to the events. And i was struck from the events. And i was struck from the north of cornwall and there, theyre going to encounter the Royal Family, we havejust been theyre going to encounter the Royal Family, we have just been told theyre going to encounter the Royal Family, we havejust been told in the last few minutes the Prince Charles has been meeting, john kerry, the us Climate Envoy who is the president of the un Climate Change and today, Prince Charles is going to be introducing ten big Chief Executives to the g7 leaders as part of proceedings this evening. Our Correspondent Nomia Iqbal is in Carbis Bay where the G7 Summit is taking place. Did we get any feedback of what they discussed today and how it went . The main discussed today and how it went . Tue Main Focus discussed today and how it went . Tte Main Focus was as we heard there from borisjohnson, Covid 19 recovery in the discussion of how to distribute vaccines which is been one of the biggest issues today. You know the us said that it will donate half A Billion doses in the uk says 100 Million by The End of next year and we are expecting the g7 nations to pledge around A Billion in total but there is some criticism that it is just not enough. 0ne but there is some criticism that it is just not enough. One of the critics of that is the former british Prime Minister who said that you need to be still 11 Billion doses if you want to make the World safe and that is going to be an ongoing discussion and in the next moment, that will be the Eden Project which is a 40 Minute Distance from where Joe Project which is a 40 Minute Distance from Wherejoe Biden is staying get where they will get to meet the Royal Family, staying get where they will get to meet the royalfamily, have dinner with the queen, prince of wales and the Duke And Duchess of cornwall, cambridge, Prince William and Catherine Poss plus first G7 Event and it is interesting that you got the senior royals there because clearly, they see the power of the Royal Family and the significance of the diplomatic role that they can play and all of this and if youre interested in what theyre going to be eating, they will have the finest Food And Culture that cornwall has to offer. Fish wall of the cornish coast, Cornish And Strawberry Pavlova And President biden will meet the queen, and the First Lady. I am always interested in the food. When you meet the queen, it is a moment, a big Photo Opportunity and they are a key part and i cannot think back to his summit where three generations of the Royal Family were so involved. Tt is generations of the Royal Family were so involved so involved. It is true and Doctor Jill Biden says so involved. It is true and Doctor Jill Biden says she so involved. It is true and Doctor Jill Biden says she was so involved. It is true and Doctor Jill Biden says she was really Jill Biden says she was really looking forward to this because from outside the uk meeting the Royal Family, it must be such a perk in such, it is a real powerful weapon that the Uk Government has to bring out the Royal Family like this. They should add that he did meet the duchess of cambridge earlier and they had this shared passion for Childrens Education they visited the school which was about a mile from here, School Forfour and 5 Euros children who dealt with trauma and they got to meet Each Other and talk to the kids and the kids do lots of activities such as Planting Flowers and tending to rabbits, it was quite a fun day for then and Just A Little Bit of trivia, that is the third First Lady that the duchess of cambridge has meant, in the past events. The past events. Americas favourite educator. Thank the past events. Americas favourite educator. Thank you the past events. Americas favourite educator. Thank you very the past events. Americas favourite educator. Thank you very much educator. Thank you very much indeed. Just one anecdote from Joe Biden. He spoke about meeting the queen and his mother was very proud irish woman and she called and just before he met the queen and said be polite but do not kiss the ring. I dont think any political leader kisses during these days but there is a moment when they come into the company of queen. The meeting was all about vaccines and getting vaccines to the poorest countries. The g7 well the g7 leaders here are expected to agree to donate at least A Billion doses of vaccines to poorer countries in the next year. Aid groups have welcomed the pledges but point out many of the doses will not arrive until next year and say more must be done right now to help inoculate people around the World who are at risk. Sean dilley reports. Britains Vaccination Roll Out has been one of the Success Stories of a pandemic that has taken so much from so many. By The End ofjuly, the government says it expects all Uk Adults will have been offered the first jab, and by The End of September The Uk will send its first 5 Million doses to poorer countries. The uk is really stepping up to the plate, but so is everybody here at the g7. Theres no point in us just vaccinating the uk. We need to vaccinate the World. Its a contribution that follows us president Joe Biden s pledge to donate half A Billion no strings pfizer doses to 92 low and middle income countries in the african union. The two leaders hope other countries attending the G7 Summit in cornwall will also chip in to give a total of1 billion vaccines. But for some, progress is not fast enough. There is a staggering level of Vaccine Inequality around the World. This is illustrated by the fact that cornwall has administered more Vaccine Doses than 22 african countries combined. This is a disaster waiting to happen, so the donation of vaccines is good, but nowhere near enough. 0thers welcome any contribution, but a herculean effort is needed to be effective. The World-health-organization'>World Health Organization says that less than 1 of Afghanistans Population has been vaccinated. In south sudan, just 10,000 of the countrys 11 Million people have had their first dose. And the who says that under 2 of the millions of Vaccine Doses and the who says that under 2 of the hundreds of millions of Vaccine Doses administered globally have been in africa. Todays pledge is not the uks first contribution. It has previously donated half A Billion pounds to a scheme called covax, which distributes jabs to the Worlds poorest countries. The uk has also helped develop the oxford astrazeneca vaccine, which has been made available globally at cost price. The promise to deliver 100 Million doses, though, sends an important political message at a time when the government has been criticised for cutting the international aid budget. We are not going to be free of this virus or safe from this virus until the World is really suppressesd. Therefore, if we can get everybody safe globally, it will make us safer as well. So i completely applaud the initiative from the uk. The vaccines minister, nadhim zahawi, concedes that even if wealthy g7 countries collectively agree to distribute One Billion doses globally, there still will not be enough jabs for everyone. But the Prime Minister says the effort is an important step to vaccinate the World, and No One in the uk will miss out as a result. Sean dilley, Bbc News. The g7 leaders pledge on Vaccine Donation for the developing World comes as some countries like kenya are facing vaccine shortages. Experts fear that without more vaccines soon, a new Covid Wave could become even deadlier. Our correspondent Reh Ha Kansara visited a Vaccine Centre in nairobi to find out more may centres like this are facing a shortage of vaccines. Nearly 2000 people were administered with the first and second jab with people queuing back as for this year. Earlier this year to the scheme, can you was given over1 million doses of which very few remain. Now theyve been given more by denmark in south sudan. But it is not enough with 50 Million people, this only scratches the surface. But not all countries across the continent are doing so will. The Supply Uganda sticking into its reserves after a spike in cases in South Africa has inoculated of 1 of its Population And Chat only administered its first dose last weekend. The World-health-organization'>World Health Organization says the continent has 0rganization says the continent has received just 1 of the 2. 1 billion vaccines administered globally and so todays announcement has been welcomed by many. But the problem is twofold. A long Standing History of hesitancy and many countries just do not have the infrastructure on such a large scale. Vaccines are crucially important. With me is our deputy political editor, vicki young. Lets talk about the briefing for jeff to spend two and about Northern Ireland, if in force. A number of important events tomorrow. These G7 Summits, important events tomorrow. These G7 Summits. They important events tomorrow. These G7 Summits, they sometimes important events tomorrow. These G7 Summits, they sometimes ended important events tomorrow. These G7 Summits, they sometimes ended up | important events tomorrow. These g7 | summits, they sometimes ended up in those kind of antagonistic rows and they do not want that to happen here. Nevertheless, they are excepting that the issue of Northern Ireland is bound to come up tomorrow so in the morning, borisjohnson will meet a manual macron that Angela Merkel and the acceptable, but this is not the forum to come forward with any kind of solutions, even though they are seeking immediate solutions to all of this. Before arriving here, they did talk about disability being non negotiable and it is done, signed this ability. How much we get to hear about it, i guess. But make borisjohnson said the displays to be face to face because so much more can be done as opposed to talking to the opposite number on zoom. I cannot help noticed that i like Body Language, studying Body Language will still be available booms between manual micron with borisjohnson. I think is the first time in manual micron has met with Joe Biden president macron. Downing street having to say, by which of the first leader to meet the american president. But being the american president. But being the host gives you a massive advantage so he has met withJoe Biden. President macron is very touchy feely, he would not letJoe Biden go at some point but he will be making the point about the Peace Process in everything he knows that Joe Biden is receptive to that message and he has made that very clear. But again, think the american side is made their point i do not think theyre going to labour it and i think there is another a lot of other issues that could have more unity. There has been some comment in the the rest of the World. There has i been some comment in the French Press that i picked up in recent days that Emmanuel Macron was seen during the Donald Trump years as the multilateral list in chief, he was bringing europe altogether while Donald Trump followed this america first policy. His seat put out that suddenlyJoe Biden has stepped into that role in the scene is the person who could bring everyone together . T who could bring everyone together . I cannot speak for the president but i do not think so, i think he is excited to be engaged more rationally with the new us administration. I think that to bring the democracies together, which is with the g7 is supposed to do, it takes more than one person and i would argue it takes seven and i think we need to be pulling in the same direction and so im sure hes welcoming the fact that hes not the only one pushing the agenda now. This only one pushing the agenda now. As the adviser on the g7 you must be aware that obviously, vaccines are crucially important and that there will be a pledge and they would need to come up with the Number And Weve got the numbers from america, 500 Million doses over the next year and 100 Million that its being donated by the uk and what are we going to get from france . That, i cannot tell you because i do not know what you because i do not know what theyre going to but when i walked into the g7, i think beyond the number that i announced, i think you have to look at, we have to be taking a hard look at why we failed so badly in the distribution of vaccines. The Vaccine Story is a story of amazing success that was partly, not undone, that would be too strong. Stymied by lack of cooperation and we need to learn the mistakes. We need to learn from the mistakes. We need to learn from the mistakes that we have made over the past year and i do not think that assigning the blame is going to be very productive. I think if you look at the data, europe is been the most open and exporting and importing vaccines and anything theyve done their share of the work but clearly collectively, we have not done enough to produce vaccines for everyone. T enough to produce vaccines for everyone enough to produce vaccines for eve one. ,. , everyone. I ust want to push you, if i could everyone. I just want to push you, if i could on everyone. Plenty more to come from here in cornwall of the evening it will be focusing in on the dinner at the Eden Project and the arrival of the queen of the Royal Family. Eden project and the arrival of the queen of the royalfamily. But Eden Project and the arrival of the queen of the Royal Family. But for the moment, that is all from us to be back at the studio. There are just a few days now, before the prime Minister Borisjohnson decides whether to Go Ahead with the final stage of Relaxing Coronavirus restrictions here in england, as new evidence suggests the Delta Variant, first identified in india, is spreading rapidly. In the past week, there have been nearly 30,000 new cases 90 of which are due to the Delta Variant. Early data from England And Scotland suggests the Delta Variant first detected in india is not only more infectious, but those who catch it are twice as likely to need Hospital Treatment as those infected with alpha, which drove the winter surge. The figures show there have been more than 42,000 cases of the Delta Variant in the uk up to the 7th ofjune. 223 patients have been admitted to hospital in england, more than half were unvaccinated. 42 people have died. Of those, more than half were unvaccinated just over a quarter have received two doses. As more and more people are fully vaccinated, this proportion will continue to rise. The Vaccine Programme is moving forward rapidly and effectively, but it does need more time, particularly to immunise a large number of younger adults who are Onlyjust Being called forward for their first doses, as well as getting those older people through their second doses as well. Despite several outbreaks in areas like bolton and blackburn, Infection Rates remain low across the uk compared to earlier this year. The latest estimates from the Office For National Statistics suggest infections are rising in england, but its a best less certain in scotland, Northern Ireland and wales. Government scientific advisers say Keeping Infections down will help as we learn to live with covid. In terms of reducing the degree of transmission, one does need to think carefully about what levels of ventilation, how rigorous one is regarding compliance with face coverings and social distancing. All of these have been required throughout the pandemic, and when something is more transmissible, these become even more important. The Hospitality Sector is struggling even with current restrictions. Many feel any delay to unlocking would be devastating. But with 21stjune Nowjust a week and a half away, ministers are sounding cautious. The total number that the virus can go after is still high, which is why we have to be careful. These have been hard won battles against this virus. It hasnt gone away. It will attempt to survive by mutating, by infecting more people and attempting to escape. While the numbers of those vaccinated in hospitals is currently low, there is still the Risk Thata third wave driven by the delta low, there is still the risk that a third wave driven by the Delta Variant could leave the elderly and frail still vulnerable. Any decision ahead of Mondays Announcement is far from black and white. Katharine da costa, Bbc News. Well, for more on this, we can speak now to gabriel scally, whos a Visiting Professor of Public Health at the university of bristol, and a member of independent sage. Think you very much forjoining us. Given the incidence of the Delta Variant so far over the last particular week, 30,000 infections, 9 of which seem to be a result of the Delta Variant, is it more unlikely than likely the Boris Johnson on monday will announce the full lifting of Lectern Restrictions in england will take place . Tt full lifting of Lectern Restrictions in england will take place . It does seem to be in england will take place . It does seem to be an in england will take place . It does seem to be an emerging in england will take place . It does| seem to be an emerging consensus among scientists, among Public Health practitioners like myself that we really could do with the continued delay and the Reproduction Rate has risen above one which means its growing and we see that and the numbers and it is fairly fast in those areas where the increase is an exponential, its an accelerated increase as they have much more infectious and also much more dangerous in terms of hospitalising people as well. And so, the omens are that we should continue as we are that we should continue as we are for some period of time to get those numbers back down but requires the government did notjust keep things as they are, but actually do something really positive to try and get those numbers down. Ltse something really positive to try and get those numbers down. Get those numbers down. Use it for some period get those numbers down. Use it for some period of get those numbers down. Now in other news, a Neo Nazi who created two banned Terrorist Groups has been convicted of 12 terrorism offences. Andrew dymock, who is 2a and from bath, was first exposed by a Bbc Investigation in 2018. An old baileyjury also found him guilty of three hate crimes. Our home Affairs Correspondent Daniel Sandford reports. Andrew dymock was educated at a Private School in bath. His father is a university professor, his mother a successful research scientist. But he went on to set up and lead two Neo Nazi Terrorist Groups that both had to be banned as a threat to national security. He ran websites, ran twitter pages, was a Key Leader in promoting activity, at recruiting young members, looking to radicalise those members. I think his prosecution and his Conviction And Sentencing is a key step in protecting the uk. In this video from one of the groups he founded, hes seen in the white shirt repeatedly giving the nazi salute. In court, he lied, claiming hed been tricked into taking part in the propaganda by teenaged friends, although they were still at school and he was several years older. The bbc has seen evidence that a student from bath set up an extreme Neo Nazi group that suggested Prince Harry should be shot. Dymock was first publicly exposed by Bbc News at ten after setting up sonnenkrieg division, now banned in britain and australia. The group produced deliberately provocative Neo Nazi propaganda, including a Poster Calling for the duke of sussex, Prince Harry, to be shot as a race traitor. An image the bbc has decided not to show. Among those he recruited was 0skar koczorowski, a schoolboy who ended up going to prison for encouraging terrorism. One of seven people linked to dymock who have been jailed. In secret conversations on a Gaming Chat Server which Bbc News infiltrated, dymock suggested all Police Officers should be killed. Sonnenkrieg division also advocated rape as a political weapon. In court here at the old bailey, the same man who called for the death of all Police Officers tried to blame everyone else for his predicament. He claimed that he was the victim of an elaborate set up by both the police and a teenage girl. He even suggested the detectives should have rescued him from members of the Neo Nazi group that he himself had founded. It was when dymock tried to travel to america to train with members of this group, atomwaffen, that he caught the attention of counterterrorist police. He was also planning to meet an infamous american Neo Nazi ideologue, but was turned back at the airport. He lied, however, right to The End. In his evidence to the jury, he denied even being a Neo Nazi. Daniel sandford, Bbc News. Regular and strenuous exercise increases the risk of Motor Neurone Disease in people who are genetically vulnerable, according to a study. Researchers at the University Of Sheffield say the number of high profile athletes who have developed the disease is not a coincidence. The scientists say nobody should stop exercising as a result of the study, but they hope the findings could lead to ways of Screening People who may be at higher risk. The research was headed by Professor Dame Pam shaw, who is the director of the Neuroscience Institute at the University Of Sheffield. As a clinician, Doing Clinics for patients with mnd, ive always suspected that being a fit, athletic sort of person is a Risk Factor, but the studies that have been done until now in the medical literature have been controversial. So, some studies have shown a link, other studies have not confirmed that. And i think the step forward with the Research Weve just published is that it confirms there is a causal link between being the sort of person that does strenuous, regular Physical Activity and the development of mnd. But not in everyone, only in genetically susceptible individuals. Weve identified the Bodys Stress Response to acute Physical Activity, and the suspicion is that patients susceptible to mnd dont mount the full physiological stress response. So, we need to dig down into those complex pathways to pull out precisely the genetic Risk Factors. But we did take one subset of patients with mnd who have the commonest genetic cause of the disease. Its caused by a mutation in a gene called c90rf72, and 10 of Mnd Patients will have that change. So, we looked carefully at the history of physical exercise in those patients that had the c9 change, and what we found is if you have that genetic Risk Factor and you have high levels of Physical Activity as part of your lifestyle, then you develop the mnd at a younger age compared to those who dont have high levels of Physical Activity.
