In the number of births. Intrigue in Israel Opposition politicians look close to a deal to end the premiership of Benjamin Netanyahu. Aiming high. A Mountaineerfrom Hong Kong has broken the record for the fastest Ascent Of Everest, by a woman. Hello and welcome to viewers in the uk and around the world. Theres a fresh push to get more people in england vaccinated against Covid 19, amid concerns that the variant first identified in india could delay the next phase of re opening. Ministers want everyone over 50 to have had both doses before The End ofjune. Englands largest Vaccination Centre has opened at Twickenham Rugby Stadium. Up to 15,000 jabs will be available for people who havent yet received their first vaccine. The government has said it will wait untiljune the 14th to decide whether social distancing restrictions can be lifted a week later. Some scientists have warned against any further easing of coronavirus measures. Government Adviser And Microbiologist Professor Ravi Gupta said the unlocking should be delayed by a few weeks due to the new variant. The problem is, we are not too far from reaching the sort of levels of vaccination that would help us contain the virus. I think the people are not saying we should abandon June People are not saying we should abandonjune the 21st Date altogether, butjust to delay it by altogether, butjust to delay it by a few weeks while we gather more intelligence and we can look at the trajectory in a clearer way. If you look at the cost and benefits of getting it wrong, i think it is heavily in the favour of delay. That is the key thing, yes, you are right, we will learn to live with it but this date that was set did not take into account the fact that we would have a new variant on the horizon with properties that allow it to evade antibodies to some extent. And a virus which is more transmissible. The Environment Secretary George eustice has said the Government Cant Rule out a delay to easing saying ministers had to take things one step at a time. We Cant Rule anything out. It is the dynamic situation. We will only see the full impact of the latest easements we have made on the 17th of may. We cant make thatjudgment until we see the impact of the easements we have just made. 0ur Correspondent Matt graveling is at twickenham in South West London for us this morning. At what is now englands largest mass Vaccination Centre. Welcome to twickenham. Probably not as you have seen it before. This stadium holds about 82,000 people. Today they are hoping to vaccinate 15,000 people from the local area around hounslow and the eight surrounding london boroughs. The reason for this, there has been a worrying increase in the number of people testing positive for coronavirus, especially the indian variant. You can see behind me, some of the 250 volunteers that will be helping that happen today as we turn that stadium into one of englands biggest Vaccination Centres. To tell you why this is important, this is kelly oneill, Health Director for hounslow. There is still one in ten of our population who are older and havent been vaccinated and therefore unprotected. It doesnt matter which variant is, they can still get the virus and still become seriously unwell. This was set up in a round about a week by 600 people, so a very quick moving operation in response to the increase in cases. We are going inside, so i will put this on and i hope you can still hear me. This is what is happening down inside the concourse which is normally full of Rugby Fans having a beer at half time. You can see behind me, one of 120 different tables, all the same with what is on top of them, Cotton Wool balls, Hand Sanitiser and we have got some little yellow bin they will put the needles and once they get jabbed. People will come down here and there is a one Way System in place. They will sit down, have their details taken, put on the computer and they will get theirfirstjab. Anybody is eligible as long as you havent had your first jab you are above 30 and you have had a text message, you can come down and get it without any need to book. Once you have had yourjab, you will go to a seating area, where you will be sat for about 15 minutes, then you will be back on your way. There is a big drive here to hopefully slow the increase they have seen here of Positive Covid tests. In bolton in north west england, Health Officials are using the Bank Holiday and Half Term to try and encourage more people there to have the vaccine. A new Walk In Centre capable of giving out thousands of doses a day will be open until sunday and the army has been brought in to help with door to Door Testing after the continued spread of the indian coronavirus variant. The town has been one of the worst Hit Places in the country. Mairead smyth is at one of the three Mass Vacination sites in the town. This is the third Mass Vaccination Site and it is to control the growing numbers of the indian variant in bolton, which has caused such concern. Hospital numbers have increased and last week medical directors expressed concern about the people coming to hospital, the Age Group, some of them in their 30s and 40s and 30 year olds are eligible to get the vaccine and that is the request. That is why this bus is here today to make sure that the community has no barrier to getting the vaccine, nowhere to travel, you can walk pass, you dont need an appointment, Astrazeneca And Pfizer on offer here. And a female only queue, so if you are a woman and want to be vaccinated by a woman, that is available. It is really breaking down the barriers and recognising that the vaccine is such an important part of controlling numbers, but of course it is notjust that, testing is still key and that is why the army will be delivering Pcr Tests in communities and picking them up. Those results will be processed to enable Health Leaders here understand how things are spreading. The director for the Vaccine Programme here, dr Helen Wall, says the numbers have begun to fall, but there is still work to do. Its only been a few days of the rates slowing down, so we really are keen to keep pushing forwards and get the rates down further. Weve worked really closely across the council, ccg, the hospital. Weve done a lot of work, we are also supported by the British Army here in bolton now, who have been out on the Streets Leafleting and doorknocking, doing plenty of work with our communities, to really stress the messages around social distancing, et cetera. So i think there is lots going on here in bolton, a combined, massive effort, so, yeah, it seems to be paying off, which is great. Weve got very young populations in many of the areas that have seen the highest rises here in bolton, so our areas closest to the Town Centre have thousands and thousands of young people, and each time the age comes down for eligibility, thousands more people are able to come forward for the vaccine. So i think the age of eligibility going down every few days has really helped and will really help us if we can get those people through the doors to be vaccinated asap. Dr Helen Wall also said it is important to stress it is not just about the vaccines, it is about testing and understanding the spread of the disease here in bolton. This is a Drop In Service and over the weekend it has been quite, the weekend it has been quiet, only about 500 people through this bus at the weekend and they want to see that reach up to 2000 per day every day this week. We have been asking you about your thoughts on the scientists talking about whether the 21st Ofjune Easement should be delayed. Jill says, restrictions should be lifted, anyone who wants to wear masks can do that, but the Vaccine Programme is working. If the Vaccine Programme doesnt do this, i will not bother having any future ones. This one from viv, my instinct is to go for reopening as planned. I am not sure they would be good compliance should be locked down again. Although were not talking about a lockdown, we are talking about, according to those scientists, just delaying the final bit of easing by a few weeks. Viv says, in saying that, I Am glad I Am not the one taking the difficult decisions. This one from lynn, this is getting absolutely wrong. We have done everything they have said and every time they move the goalposts, this is nothing to do with a virus protection, it is about control of us, says lynn. I have some new tweets coming in, tony says, we should wait another couple of weeks. It could make a big difference. Sasha edward says, most things are open now and people are going about their normal day so a delay on the rest of the wouldnt make any difference and hopefully stop deaths. Yes, delay. Sony says, and other variants are getting higher, why does the prime Minister Notjust allow anyone of any age who has not had a vaccine to go ahead and book. I think some of the mass Vaccination Centres, you canjust turn i think some of the mass Vaccination Centres, you can just turn up without an appointment. Thank you very much for sending in those thoughts, do keep them coming in. I will try to read out some of more of your comments. France has tightened restrictions on travel from the uk, to try to stop the spread of the variant of coronavirus first identified in india. New rules came into force at midnight, meaning british tourists will not be allowed in. France is currently listed as an Amber Destination by the Uk Government, which advises against travel there. China is relaxing its Family Planning Policy to allow couples to have three children, up from the current limit of two. The decision comes after census data showed a steep decline in the number of births. Its not yet clear when the change will take effect. Five years ago, china abandoned a controversial one Child Policy which had been in place for decades to limit population growth. Lets get more on this from Stephen Mcdonell. If the Birth Rate is already falling, how is relaxing the Family Planning Policy going to encourage a higher Birth Rate . This is a very good encourage a higher Birth Rate . Ti 3 is a very good question, it encourage a higher Birth Rate . T1151 is a very good question, it is encourage a higher Birth Rate . Ti 1 is a very good question, it is one many are asking today. We had a one Child Policy, then a two Child Policy, now a three Child Policy. Some are wondering why, given the democratic situation in this country, with an ageing population, there are birth restrictions here at all. But this is big news. A little over an hour ago, all. But this is big news. A little overan hourago, it all. But this is big news. A little over an hour ago, it is a bleak, Rainy Day in china. I went out to buy a coffee and all Of A Sudden, the news was popping up on peoples phones, the headlines were coming through and the chatter around the cafe, three child this, three child that. People are talking about what this means for them. But the headache for the authorities has been that they eased off one Child Policy into a two Child Policy and it didnt result in a big uptake in people availing themselves with the opportunities for multiple children. According to the most recent census data, Birth Rates are roughly at 19605 data, Birth Rates are roughly at 1960s levels. Somehow you have got to pay for an ageing population with new people coming into the workforce and paying their taxes, said the decision has been made to ease this off to a three Child Policy. But as people have become more affluent, if you are a poor farmer people have become more affluent, if you are a poorfarmer in people have become more affluent, if you are a poor farmer in the 1970s, more kids means more hands to work the farm. Young, affluent couples in the farm. Young, affluent couples in the cities dont want that any more. Many have questioned whether or not trying to encourage more people to have kids is the way to fix that demographic problem. You cannotjust keep expanding the population forever, you are kicking the problem down the road, if you like. Eventually you will have to work out a way to pay for that ageing population. It will be interesting to see if this works, from going to a two Child Policy to a three Child Policy does result in more people having kids. We have interviewed them in the Run Up to the most recent census and asked people, would you have more kids if you could . Most people you talk to on the streets say, no they wouldnt. 0bviously the streets say, no they wouldnt. Obviously there are those big questions around future demographics, the size of the population in the country but given the government has announced this relaxation of the Family Planning Policy right now, is It Planning to incentivise couples to have more children in any other way . I think that is what children in any other way . I think that is what they children in any other way . I think that is what they are children in any other way . I think that is what they are going children in any other way . I think that is what they are going to children in any other way . I think. That is what they are going to have to look at doing. We havent had any announcements along those lines, but without some sort of help financially, i dont think people will. It is one of the key things people say when you ask them, would you have more kids . They say, i would rather have less children and give them a better life than say spread my income over more kids. Qm. Spread my income over more kids. 0k, stehen, spread my income over more kids. 0k, stephen, thank you very much. Stephen, thank you very much. Intrigue in Israel Opposition politicians look close to a deal to end the premiership of Benjamin Netanyahu. Lets stay with that story. Israels Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that a proposed new Unity Government without him as its leader would be A Dangerfor The Security of the country. He urged right wing politicians not to support a deal after ultra nationalist leader Naftali Bennett said he would share power with a centrist party. Mr Netanyahus Opponents have until wednesday to form a government. If they are successful, it would bring to an end the rule of the countrys longest serving Prime Minister. Courtney bembridge reports. Four elections in two years have returned no clear winner. And through it all, Benyamin Netanyahu has clung to power. Do you want another election, he asks . No, says the crowd. But now, the clearest path yet to a Unity Government that would end his time as the countrys longest serving Prime Minister. Naftali bennett, a far right nationalist politician who was once Benyamin Netanyahus chief of staff, has joined talks with the centrist Party Leader yair lapid. And also someone who is perpetrating, i must say, the fraud of the century. Exactly 100 years ago, one of the biggest massacres in American History took place in tulsa, oklahoma. 0n 31st may 31st And Firstjune 1921, racialviolence took place in greenwood, also known as the black wall street, which was at the time one of the most prosperous black communities in the united states. An army of white men and women invaded the area, destroying and burning homes and local businesses. After 16 hours of violence, an estimated 300 black people had been killed. We can discuss this in more detail now with the cultural Historian Patrick vernon. Thank you forjoining us on Bbc News today. For people who dont know about the Tulsa Massacre, even in the united states, it hasnt, until recently, been talked about all widely known, tell us what happened. It happened on the 31st of may, and a young guy called diamond, a 19 year old was making a fair amount of money as a shoeshine boy. 0klahoma was one of the richest states in america. He was alleged to have attacked or assaulted a white woman, was arrested and taken to a Police Station and then there were mobs of white men who wanted, which was quite commonly practised in america and the deep south, take justice into their own hands and to but in november of african men, after word got around the community, came to the Police Station. The sheriff convinced them that proper Due Process would take place regarding this young man, and there was a scuffle between the white mob and the black men, quite a number of fatalities, and then later on that day, as we mentioned, hundreds of men and women, white, as well as private planes, dropped kerosene onto the neighbourhood of greenwood, destroying over 10,000 homes and really destroyed the community, in many ways. And i think its interesting because as we look at today around black Lives Matter, the murder of george floyd, in the same part of america, we have those same deaths in custody. So in many ways it feels like, what has moved on . That is a really interesting point you make. Iwas that is a really interesting point you make. I was going to ask you to put this in the context of black Lives Matter, what happened to george floyd, other killings of black people in america today, and do you think that cultural amnesia that you speak of, that didnt examine the Tulsa Massacre in full detail much sooner, that that has allowed a certain narrative, certain feelings, to perpetuate in america . Yes, definitely, to a certain extent. 0bviously America recognised this but when you have a whole community, remember, this was called black wall street, it was the richest part of Black America in the 19205, richest part of Black America in the 1920s, Underthe Richest Part Of Black America in the 1920s, under the segregation laws, and for people not to acknowledge that and to talk about that is an indictment on American History, and i think that is probably why it has taken such a long time for this to be raised in the public consciousness of america, in many ways, Priorto Consciousness of america, in many ways, prior to black Lives Matter but intensified by black Lives Matter. And obviously we can talk about this in the uk but also we have our own similar experiences, the deptford fires, very equivalent to what happened, nearly a0 years ago. And we have not fully acknowledged ourselves. find ago. And we have not fully acknowledged ourselves. And it underscores acknowledged ourselves. And it underscores yet acknowledged ourselves. And it underscores yet again acknowledged ourselves. And it underscores yet again the acknowledged ourselves. And it underscores yet again the need | acknowledged ourselves. And it i underscores yet again the need for our teaching of history to be much wider, not to bejust our teaching of history to be much wider, not to be just about white history but to be about the history of people of all creeds and colours. Absolutely. We need to have an inclusive Education System in terms of history and that applies equally in america as well as here in the uk. Unfortunately in america and here in the uk we are in the middle of what is classed as culture wars, where people want to keep the dominant view of britain, the dominant view of britain, the dominant view of america, of a land of liberty and hope, but within that there are horrors and tragedy which need to be unearthed so that we can have an inclusive history and to reveal the rights of everyone. Shanki reveal the rights of everyone. Anki ve much reveal the rights of everyone. Anki very much for reveal the rights of everyone. Anki very much for talking reveal the rights of everyone. Anki very much for talking to me today. More now on the news that the Uks Economy is likey to expand by more than 7 in 2021. Well, the organisation for economic co Operation And Development has raised its forecast for global economic growth, as vaccinations and Stimulus Spending drive the recovery in richer countrues. Lets speak to our Business Reporter Andrew walker. So, andrew, lets talk about what the 0ecd is saying about the uk and indeed the global economy, prospects for better growth than had been forecast, in places where the Vaccine Roll Out is going well . Yes. Vaccine rollout is going well . Yes, thats right. Vaccine rollout is going well . Yes, thats right, and Vaccine Rollout is going well . Yes, thats right, and the Vaccine Rollout is going well . Yes, thats right, and the uk Vaccine Roll Out is going well . 111 thats right, and the Uk Figures are particularly striking. I am sorry i moved the camera. The forecast for this year has been upgraded really quite sharply, from 5. 1 , when they previously forecast, as recently as march, to now 7. 2 . That is actually the fastest growth for any of the large, developed economies, but it is worth putting it in context. It partly reflects a rebound from what was a relatively deep decline last year. If you look at the two years as a whole, what the 0ecd has done, rather helpfully, is to look at how long it will take countries to get back to pre pandemic levels of national in camper person, and for the uk, it is the middle of next year, somewhat ahead of france and spain but actually behind germany, the united states and japan. find Spain but actually behind germany, the united states and japan. And the thing underlining the united states and japan. And the thing underlining all the united states and japan. And the thing underlining all of the united states and japan. And the thing underlining all of this, thing underlining all of this, andrew, is the idea of a very uneven recovery, which has been much discussed in areas where that Vaccination Programme isnt rolling out as quickly, where the vaccinations simply arent available, the 0ecd presumably is calling for richer countries to do something about this . Something about this . Yes, absolutely. Something about this . Yes, absolutely. There something about this . Yes, absolutely. There are i something about this . Yes, absolutely. There are a i something about this . Yes, i absolutely. There are a couple of features of the recovery in the developed world which have given it a bit of a boost, Vaccination Programs is the really obvious one. But it is also easier for which countries to borrow money in financial markets and undertake large Government Spending programs to stimulate demand for goods and services. 0ver to stimulate demand for goods and services. Over the last few days we have seen the biden administration in the us, for example, taking some steps down that path. Its much harder for developing countries to do that kind of thing, and as you say, it is also much harderfor them to mobilise effective Vaccination Programs, because so many of the vaccines are being used in the rich world, and the 0ecd does indeed say that were going to be looking at a somewhat uneven recovery, and the inequality in the Roll Out of vaccines is an absolutely central feature of that unevenness. Andrew, thanks very feature of that unevenness. Andrew, thanks very much feature of that unevenness. Andrew, thanks very much for feature of that unevenness. Andrew, thanks very much for that. Reports on danish media say denmarks Secret Service helped the us to spy on European Politicians including the german chancellor Angela Merkel from 2012 to 201a. Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio says the Defence Intelligence Service collaborated with the us national Security Agency to gather information on officials from germany, france, sweden and norway. Nigerian officials say gunmen have kidnapped many students from an islamic school in nigeria, the latest in a series of such attacks on schools. Authorities in Niger State have told the bbc that gunmen kidnapped an unknown number of students from an islamic school in the town of tegina On Sunday afternoon. The school is attended by both Boys And Girls aged 6 to 18. Two people were shot during the attack. One of them died and the other is critically injured. A State Of Emergency has been declared in parts of new zealands South Island due to severe flooding. Up to a00mm of rain has fallen after more than two days of downpours. Hundreds of residents in the Canterbury Region have evacuated their homes. The meteorological service has issued only its second red weather warning, reserved for the most extreme conditions. An investigation by Bbc Africa Eye has found new evidence that, has found new evidence that in november last year, ugandan Security Forces fired indiscriminately at people on the streets of the capital, kampala, killing and injuring ordinary citizens including women and children. Last year, the ugandan government said the killings of November 18th and 19th would be investigated, but six months on, no Public Inquiry has been held, and no official investigation has been published. You may find some elements of this report by merchuma distressing. The killings followed violent protests that broke out after the arrest of Opposition Candidate Robert kyagulanyi. Better known as bobi wine, the Politician And Musician was challenging President Musevenis 35 Year Stay in power. By the governments own count, more than 50 people were killed on 18th November and 19th november. President musevenis government, and in particular his Security Minister general Elly Tumwine tried to justify the killings. Police has a right to shoot you and kill you if you reach a certain level of violence. Bbc Africa Eye has now found evidence indicating that Government Security forces shot indiscriminately at people who were neither armed nor taking part in protests. One of them was kamuyat ngobi, a 28 year old mother of four who worked as a Food Vendor on Kampala Road. This is kamuyat. Seconds after this clip ends, she is killed by a bullet to the back of the head. If we look at that video more closely, we see a truck coming at speed down Kampala Road. A second video, taken at exactly the same moment from the other side of the street, shows that this was a Police Truck marked with the Identification Number 17. As Police Truck 17 drives past, we hear a gunshot. And kamuyat falls to the ground. This is kamuyat s red skirt. If we pause the video on this frame and sharpen the image, we can see the faces of four men, all carrying rifles, seated on the left Hand Side of truck 17. All the evidence indicates that minutes after this footage was recorded, one of these four men killed her. And she was not the only person shot on Kampala Road. In the space of a minute or so, at least six other people were shot and at least three of them died. John amera, a 31 year old of two. Abbas kalule, a local man who worked in a shop. And john kitobe, a 72 year old retired accountant. There is no evidence to suggest that any of these people were rioting. In their village in eastern uganda, kamuyat s Mother Zikaye and her sister have been left to raise the children orphaned by the killing of kamuyat. We put the allegations contained in this report to the ugandan government. They told us in Security Forces had been deployed to quell rioting. They acknowledged that that four people were killed on Kampala Road people were killed on Kampala Road but say that these deaths had been investigated and attributed to stray bullets. Merchuma, Bbc News. South africa is increasing its Covid 19 restrictions to try and fight a surge in recent infections. A nightly curfew is to be extended meaning nonessential shops, bars and restaurants, will be forced to close by 10pm. Bars and restaurants will be forced to close by 10pm. Gail maclellan has the details. South africa has recorded more than 56,000 deaths and 1. 6 million cases, more than any other african nation, and infections are once again beginning to rise. Facemasks remain mandatory in public, and a nightly curfew has been extended. The Countrys President , cyril ramaphosa, has announced a limit on indoor and outdoor public gatherings. Further restrictions are necessary to ensure that Health Facilities are not overwhelmed, and that lives that could be saved are not lost. The country was hit by A Devastating Second Wave In December and january, when a variant emerged. And there are concerns a third wave is following the same trajectory. The situation has also shone a light on south africas lagging Vaccine Roll Out only about 1. 5 of the countrys 60 Million people have received a vaccine. As the african continent, we are pushing ahead with efforts to expand our Vaccine Manufacturing Capacity with a view to be self sufficient in vaccine production. South africas one of the countries leading the charge to remove Patent Rights on coronavirus vaccines to help every country manufacture its own supplies. Gail maclellan, Bbc News. A temporary ban on Bailiff Enforced Evictions introduced in england at the start of the Coronavirus Pandemic has come to an end today. Charities say a00,000 tenants have already received eviction notices, or been told to expect them, as our Business Correspondent Katy austin reports. Rudolf was made redundant last year. £3,000 behind on rent, the fear his landlord could soon try to evict him, keeps him awake at night. Could soon try to evict him keeps him awake at night. Its affecting my health. So if would have any kind of security, maybe another Eviction Ban, or maybe a promise from my landlord to say that i wont evict you until we get a fix for this, i would be actually able to sleep. Despite the Emergency Financial Support thats been available over the past year, one charity says widespread concerns remain. We found that A Million households are worried about being evicted over the coming three months after the ban comes to an end. Weve seen that some households are a lot more worried than others. So bme renters, families with children, those on low incomes, and those whove seen an Income Fall during the pandemic. Landlords warn the Eviction Ban has caused delays removing tenants with pre existing problems, but they say theyve tried to help people affected by the pandemic. Sue is letting a family gradually pay back thousands they couldnt afford in the first lockdown, which affects her, too. When they cant pay their rent, i have to pay the mortgage on that property, which is Part And Parcel of the risk of being a landlady. But also, their rent not only pays the mortgage, but it gives me surplus, and thats my income. The government says tenants will continue to be supported, including with longer than usual notice periods. Housing and landlords groups both want more done to stop covid related Rent Debts putting tenancies in doubt. Katy austin, Bbc News. Lots of us have been spending more time at home over the past year so its possible were more in tune with the noises our gadgets make. Apparently more people are looking to trade in noisy items, like washing machines, for quieter alternatives as our Tech Correspondent Zoe Kleinman has been Finding Out. This is the lab where the sounds in your home get put through their paces. Here in south london, the Noise Levels of hundreds of appliances are rigorously tested by the firm Quiet Mark, and it awards the quietest models a sticker of approval. Shh you will spot the stickers in argos, John Lewis and littlewoods among others. When you buy a new household appliance, you might be able to see how loud it is if theres a Decibel Rating on the box, but you wont know about any bangs, clanks or beeps until you actually plug it in. The firm Quiet Mark is on a mission to change that. For the first time ever, the firm is now looking at how to include overall Sound Quality in its ratings for consumers like you and me, but its complicated. Something up at 80 decibels, you know, its a no no. You can have something about 60 decibels better. However, its notjust about the decibel level, its the quality. So you can have something thats really irritating at a0 decibels. Hence this new move to look at the quality and the tonalities and the pitch of a product as well. Sound is a very personal sensation. Whats music to your ears might be unbearable to mine. Some autistic people may also process sound differently. For some autistic people, it will mean certain types of noise, certain tones, certain frequencies will be almost painful to them. But actually, for some autistic people, it will mean that there are certain types of noise and certain types of sound they really enjoy and actually find themselves seeking. So its a very difficult experience when the world is full of so many different sorts of Sound And Noise on a daily basis. Washing machines and kettles top searches for quiet appliances at John Lewis. We have a lot of quiet content on our website, and we see over 10,000 visits to that content every month. And were seeing quiet as the terminology being increasingly searched on the site. But if the sound of your home reached Boiling Point during lockdown, you might also want to join this quiet revolution. Zoe kleinman, Bbc News. New rules designed to reduce the number of fake Whiplash Claims have come into force in england and wales. The government says the changes will help save the average motorist around £35 a year on their insurance premiums, as Will Batchelor reports. More than 80 of all personal injury claims for Road Traffic accidents last year were related to whiplash over half A Million of them. A rise in fraud has been blamed for driving up the figures, even as the number of crashes has fallen. Sadly, a number of them, frankly, that have been fraudulent claims, and thats resulted in an increase in premiums for all of us. Thats not good for road users, and its certainly not good in terms of the reputation of the insurance industry. And thats why i think the new online system, dealing with those smaller claims, will help root out Fraud And Help reduce premiums for all of us. People can use a new online portal for claims of less than £5,000. Its meant to simplify the process and remove the need for expensive lawyers. Medical evidence will now be required in Whiplash Cases. The Trade Body for insurers said motorists will see cheaper premiums as a result. It is going to cut out expensive legal fees which sometimes can be more than the actual value of the claim. And in turn, if we can get those savings into the system, all honest motorists out there should be benefiting from it. The government says the changes will stop those looking for an easy payday abusing the system, while ordinary drivers pay the price. Will batchelor, Bbc News. When you aim high, expect high. Thats the mantra of the Hong Kong climber, whos just made the worlds fastest ascent of Mount Everest by a woman. Tsang yin hung reached the top of the worlds highest mountain in less than 26 hours. And shes not the only one to be breaking records there. As Russell Trott reports. As magical as it is magnificent, Mount Everest draws the mountaineers Mount Everest draws the mountaineers like a magnet. One from Hong Kong has just broken the record for the fastest assent by a woman, in under 26 hours. Thats 8,800 metres, or five and a half miles. Actually, im kind of relieved and happy, because i set this target around four years before and i always share with my students and my friends that if you aim high and spend time, then you can achieve high. And from one new Everest Record to another. A chinese climber has scaled the tallest peak in the world from the nepal side, becoming the first Blind Man In Asia and the third in the world to summit Mount Everest. This month in 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing became the first to reach the summit. But there are always reminders that not all climbers come back. This American Collapsed and died from exhaustion on his way down. Records are important because they remind you of the hard work and what can be achieved when you put your effort and hard Work And Training in place. It is also a reminder of Climate Change and to be respectful of those things that wont be there if you are not careful. Everest is synonymous with that bedrock of humanity, to achieve the apparently impossible and find a unique personal summit to climb. Those who prefer The Real Thing will continue to attempt those records. Just time for a few of your comments on the just time for a few of your comments on the possible delay of the easing of restrictions. This on the possible delay of the easing of restrictions. Of restrictions. This one says, if scientists of restrictions. This one says, if scientists say of restrictions. This one says, if scientists say we of restrictions. This one says, if scientists say we should of restrictions. This one says, if scientists say we should delay l of restrictions. This one says, if. Now its time for a look at the weather with carol kirkwood. Hello. If temperatures exceed 2a. 5 today, it will be the warmest day of the year so far. But there is a greater chance of it tomorrow. You can see some cloud near the North Sea coast. That will peg back the temperatures. For most, it is going to be dry and sunny and cooler where we have the lingering cloud. These are the sea temperatures, still on the low side. We will see them coming up as we head towards september. For the rest of the day and into the evening and overnight, we see a return to the low cloud coming in from the North Sea. Towards the west, weve got an approaching Weather Front. Its not going to be a cold night. Tomorrow, we start with all the low cloud, mist and fog. Like today, it will burn back to the North Sea coastline, lingering in parts, holding back the temperatures once again. With the approaching Weather Front, we could have the odd isolated shower in Northern Ireland and western scotland. Highs up to 25 or even 26. Moving into wednesday, we have this approaching area of low pressure coming up from the south. It looks like it has got the potential to bring in some heavy showers which potentially also could be thundery. Moving away from here, and were looking at another dry and sunny and warm day. Temperatures getting up to about 25 or 26 and once again cooler along the North Sea Coastline And Cooler where we are likely to see those showers. On thursday, still a bit of cloud coming in from the south west, some showers with that as well, but dry conditions across the North And East with some sunshine, and these are the kind of temperatures you can expect. Still above average for the time of year. The average incidentally is roughly 16 19 north to south. Towards The End of the week, there is a chance we could have some further showers or even longer spells of rain with some sunshine in between, temperatures slipping a touch. This is Bbc News. The headlines at 11. The uks fight against coronavirus steps up a gear, with englands largest mass Vaccination Centre opening with the potential to give 15,000 doses in one day. It comes amid warnings from some scientists that the final stage of unlocking in england due OnJune 21st should be delayed by a few weeks. The government says its taking things one step at a time. With questions over the timing of the final stage of unlocking were asking what do you think . Would you support a delay to Lockdown Easing . Get in touch im on Annita Mcveigh bbcyourquestions. Expect more busy beaches on Bank Holiday monday, on what could be the hottest day of the year so far. Up to 1,500 jabs will be available for people who havent yet received their first vaccine. The government has said it will wait Untiljune 1ath to decide whether social distancing restrictions can be lifted a week later. Some scientists have warned against any further easing of coronavirus measures. Lets speak to our political Correspondent Nick Eardley. Caution, from some scientists there saying it doesnt make sense, as far as they are concerned, according to the data to go OnJune 21st and they are talking about everyone waiting for a few more weeks yes. Are talking about everyone waiting for a few more weeks for a few more weeks yes, three Weeks Today for a few more weeks yes, three Weeks Today is for a few more weeks yes, three Weeks Today is supposed for a few more weeks yes, three Weeks Today is supposed on i for a few more weeks yes, three Weeks Today is supposed on to i for a few more weeks yes, three Weeks Today is supposed on to a | Weeks Today is supposed on to a really big moment, where all the legal restrictions that have been in place, in england, are lifted, where some of the venues like nightclubs, are able to re open, where potentially you get full crowds back in Football Stadiums as part of the european championships. There is nervousness about that. The indian variant mean people are scratching their heads, thinking can it still go ahead, does it need to be delayed . Maybe it is only for shall partial. The government doesnt want to engage with that until it has seen the data, increasingly we are seeing scientists raise concerns about the full easing, the complete removal of legal restrictions happening on 21stjune. This morning on the Today Programme we heard from someone from one of the bodies that advises the Uk Government. The problem is that were actually not too far from reaching the sort of levels of vaccination that would help us contain the virus, and i think that people are not saying that we should abandon the zist June Date altogether, but just to delay it by a few weeks, whilst we gather more intelligence, and we can look at the trajectory in a clearer way. And if you look at the costs and benefits of getting it wrong, i think that it is heavily in the favour of delay. So, i think that that is the key thing. Yes, youre right, we will learn to live with it, but this date that was set did not take into account the fact that we would have a new variant on the horizon, with properties that allow it to evade antibodies, to some extent, and a virus which is more transmissible. So, nick, if we think back to the start of the pandemic and that phrase following the science, which we heard from the government so much, i suppose the question from scientists like Professor Gupta and those who agree, is the government going to listen to them and delay, and you know, it is tough though, in terms of the messaging given the certain expectations around the 21st June Snow it certain expectations around the 21st June Sno ,. ,. , June Snow it is hugely complicated, ou are June Snow it is hugely complicated, you are seeing June Snow it is hugely complicated, you are seeing some June Snow it is hugely complicated, you are seeing some of June Snow it is hugely complicated, you are seeing some of that June Snow it is hugely complicated, | you are seeing some of that tension play out today in the telegraph, the president of British Chambers Of Commerce saying it would be wrong to completely change tab now tackle now and business needs some certain they the road map, that the Uk Government spelled out had provided, i think the government will still say it is following the science, and what it is going to do, over the next fortnight is look at the data coming in. It says it is too early to make any Cast Iron decision, what it needs to doe is look at the data that comes out before round about 1ath june, that comes out before round about 1athjune, making some sort of decision on what happens on the zist, decision on what happens on the 21st, but absolutely, a lots of tension there between the economic side of this, the Health Side of it and this morning, the Environment Secretary George eustace was asked about exactly that. Ive said all along, as has Matt Hancock and the Prime Minister, we Cant Rule anything out, because we know that this has been a difficult pandemic, a dynamic situation. We have to make thatjudgment a couple of weeks before. It will only be by then we will see the full impact of the latest easements we made on 17th may. So i know everybody wants to know whats going to happen, but we cant actually make that judgment until we see the impacts of the easements weve just made. There is a race between the new variant and the spread of virus and the Vaccine Roll Out. We are Hearing Ministers talk all the time about getting the second dose of the vaccine. That is because the science suggests that the protection you get, even from this new variant after two doses is much higher than it is from one dose, it is about a third with one dose, it is double if not more if you have both, so you will hear a lot of messaging in the next couple of weeks about exactly that, getting over 50s vaccinated by zist that, getting over 50s vaccinated by 21stjune, but at the moment, i dont think there is any guarantee at all, that the full easing goes ahead in three weeks. At all, that the full easing goes ahead in three weeks. Thank you nick. Let us talk more about that Vaccine Roll Out. Let us talk more about that Vaccine Roll Out. 0ur Correspondent Matt graveling has more from twickenham in South West London on englands largest Vaccination Centre opening. To tell you why this is important, this is kelly 0neill, Health Director for hounslow. There is still one in ten of our population who are older and havent been vaccinated and therefore unprotected. It doesnt matter which variant it is, they can still get the virus and still become seriously unwell. This was set up in around about a week by 600 people, so a very quick moving operation in response to the increase in cases. We are going inside, so i will put this on and i hope you can still hear me. This is what is happening down inside the concourse which is normally full of Rugby Fans having a beer at half time. You can see behind me, one of 120 different tables, all the same with what is on top of them, Cotton Wool balls, Hand Sanitiser and we have got the little yellow bin they will put the needles and once they get jabbed. People will come down here and there is a one Way System in place. They will sit down, have their details taken, put on the computer and they will get theirfirstjab. Anybody is eligible as long as you havent had your first jab, you are above 30 and you have had a text message, you can come down and get it without any need to book. Once you have had yourjab, you will go to a seating area, where you will be sat for about 15 minutes, then you will be back on your way. There is a big drive here to hopefully slow the increase they have seen here of Positive Covid tests. And in bolton in north west england, Health Officials are using the Bank Holiday and Half Term to try and encourage more people there to have the vaccine. A new Walk In Centre capable of giving out thousands of doses a day will be open until sunday, and the army has been brought in to help with door to Door Testing after the continued spread of the indian coronavirus variant. The town has been one of the worst Hit Places in the country. So on that question of whether the easing of restrictions on 21stjune should be delayed by a few week, lots of you sending in comment, thank you for that. Let me read out some. Jenny says yes i would definitely support an extension to Lockdown Easing, still struggling with the impact of Long Covid and terrified of getting ill again. She says learn from your mistakes. Another one says i want my freedom back, been vaccinated under pressure, those who dont want to come out stay at home, let the rest of us live. This from jason, i agree we cant Go On like this but believe it is necessary to extend for another few weeks. Rant and rave says there is no question we should follow the recommendation of sage and scientists, we have made the mistake of not following them as the cost of british lives. Another one, the current release of rules have not got enough control, for example not got enough control, for example no curfew four bar, i witnessed dangerous spreading risks during this weekend. A similar theme of supporting and extension of a few weeks to Lockdown Easing, from another one. Let mejust weeks to Lockdown Easing, from another one. Let me just scroll down through because we have some messages to the contrary, if i can find them. There are so many tweets. Yeah, this from steve c, who is saying, removing social Distancing And Mask wearing before the Vaccination Programme is complete without would put our young people at Risk And Risk a third wave. Then i have tweets from people who are getting married who dont want there to be any delay to the easing, the Lockdown Easing, the easing of restrictions on the 21st ofjune. Robert boyd, we have our weddings booked for 27th june, robert boyd, we have our weddings booked for 27thjune, how can we plan. We have cancelled from last year, i hate when people say it is not a big deal to delay as it it is for us, the government have set a date. 0ne for us, the government have set a date. One more on that theme, from nicky marie, we would like lockdown lifted, we are hoping to get married on 23rd July after already postponing once from august last year, what is the point in getting the vaccine if we are to stay under Government Control . Thank you, for all of those thoughts, all of those view, keep them coming in on twitter. I will try to read out some more of of your comments. France has tightened restrictions on travel from the uk, to try to stop the spread of the variant of coronavirus first identified in india. New rules came into force at midnight, meaning british tourists will not be allowed in. France is currently listed as an Amber Destination by the Uk Government, which advises against travel there. Vietnam hopes to tackle a new Covid Outbreak by testing the entire population of Ho Chi Minh city. Thats 13 Million people. Its also introducing new social distancing measures. The efforts come in response to a new cluster linked to a religious mission. Vietnam has had relative success in controlling the virus but cases have been rising recently. Over the weekend, officials warned of a new very dangerous Hybrid Variant discovered in the country. The Uks Economy is likey to expand by more than 7 in 2021. Thats up from the expected growth of 5. 1 according to new data from the organisation for economic coOperation And Development. The 0ecd also said prospects for the World Economy had brightened, with activity returning to pre pandemic levels. But it cautioned that the recovery would remain uneven, and vulnerable to fresh setbacks as long as a large proportion of the World S Population were not vaccinated. 0ur economics correspondent, Andrew Walker has been taking a closer look at the numbers. The forecast for this year has been upgraded really sharply, from 5. 1 , when they previously forecasted as recently as march to 7. 2. That is the fastest growth for any of the, the fastest growth for any of the, the large developed economies but it is worth putting it in context it partly reflect Add Rebound from what was a relatively deep decline last year, if you look at the two years as a whole, what the 0ecd has done is looked at how long it will take countries to get back to prepandemic levels of national income per person and the uk it is the middle of next year, somewhat ahead of france and spain, but actually behind germany, the united states and japan. And the things underlining all of this and drew, is the idea of a very uneven recovery, it has been much discussed, you know in areas where that Vaccination Programme isnt rolling out as quickly, the 0ecd presumably is calling for richer countries joining the voices calling for richer countries to do something about this . ,. , ,. , about this . Yes, absolutely, there are a coople about this . Yes, absolutely, there are a coople of about this . Yes, absolutely, there are a couple of features about this . Yes, absolutely, there are a couple of features of about this . Yes, absolutely, there are a couple of features of the i are a couple of features of the recovery in the developed world which have given it a bit of a boost. Vaccination programmes is the really obvious one, but it is also easier for rich countries to borrow money in financial markets and undertake large Government Spending programmes to stimulate demands for goods and services for, we have ian the biden administration in the us taking steps down that path. It is much harderfor taking steps down that path. It is much harder for developing taking steps down that path. It is much harderfor developing countries much harder for developing countries to much harderfor developing countries to do that kind of thing. As you say, it is also much, been much harderfor them to say, it is also much, been much harder for them to mobilise effective Vaccination Programmes, because so many of the vaccines are being used in the rich world. Andrew walker speaking being used in the rich world. Andrew walker speaking earlier. The headlines on Bbc News. The uks fight against coronavirus steps up a gear, with englands largest mass Vaccination Centre opening with the potential to give 15,000 doses in one day. China announces that families can now have three children up from the current limit of two as data shows a steep decline in the number of births. Intrigue in Israel Opposition politicians look close to a deal to end the premiership of Benjamin Netanyahu. Walker speaking earlier. 0ur Correspondent Stephen Mcdonell explained more about the Landmark Shift in policy from the chinese government. We had a one Child Policy, then a two Child Policy, now a three Child Policy. Some are wondering why, given the democratic situation in this country, with an ageing population, there are birth restrictions here at all. But this is big news. A little over an hour ago, im sure you can see it is a bleak, Rainy Day in china. I went out to buy a coffee and all Of A Sudden, the news was popping up on peoples phones, you could see them looking at their mobile phones. Bling bling bling, the headlines were coming through and the chatter around the cafe, three child this, three child that. People are talking about what this means for them. But the headache for the authorities has been that they eased off one Child Policy into a two Child Policy and it didnt result in a big uptake in people availing themselves with the opportunity for multiple children. In fact, according to the most recent census data, Birth Rates are roughly at 1960s levels. Somehow you have got to pay for an ageing population with new people coming into the workforce and paying their taxes or whatever, so the decision has been made to ease this off to a three Child Policy. But as people have become more affluent here, if you are a poor farmer in the 1970s, more kids means more hands to work the farm. Young, affluent couples in the cities dont want that any more. So many have questioned whether or not simply trying to encourage more people to have kids is the way to fix that demographic problem. After all, you cannotjust keep expanding the population forever, you are kicking the problem down the road, if you like. Eventually you will have to work out a way to pay for that ageing population. It will be interesting to see if this works, if going from a two Child Policy to a three Child Policy does result in more people having kids. We have interviewed them in the Run Up to the most recent census and asked people, would you have more kids if you could . Most people you talk to on the streets say, no, they wouldnt. Obviously there are those big questions around future demographics, the size of the population in the country. But given the government has announced this relaxation of the Family Planning Policy right now, is It Planning to incentivise couples to have more children in any other way . I think that is what they are going to have to look at doing. We havent had any announcements along those lines, but without some sort of help, financially, i dont think people will. It is one of the key things people say when you ask them, would you have more kids . They say, i would rather have less children and give them a better life than, say, spread my income over more kids. Sue is letting a family gradually pay back thousands they couldnt afford in the first lockdown, which affects her too. We can speak now to ben beadle, chief executive at the national residential landlords association. Thank you forjoining us on Bbc News. I spoke to a tenant earlier who has been served is an eviction notice, is currently paying their rent, now they are back in work, but, has a pot of debt, tried to work out a plan with the landlord, but hasnt been able to do so. You are representing the other side of the coin, tell us about the impact of the pandemic on landlords. Good mornin to of the pandemic on landlords. Good morning to you. Of the pandemic on landlords. Good morning to you. I of the pandemic on landlords. Good morning to you, i mean, of the pandemic on landlords. 13mm morning to you, i mean, lets first start by saying that the pandemic has been dreadful for both sides in the private rented sector. I was delighted to see that sue had in your story had reached a payment compromise, to sustain the tenancy and this is typical of what many landlords are doing to support tenants during this dreadful time. But the point is, that the Eviction Ban is a very crude measure to stem the flow of evictions and does nothing to address the underlying cause of eviction, so 1a, 15 months on we still have the same problems, I Am afraid the government have missed a trick. I am afraid the government have missed a trick. What do you pine by that . What missed a trick. What do you pine by that . What would missed a trick. What do you pine by that . What would you missed a trick. What do you pine by that . What would you have missed a trick. What do you pine by. That . What would you have preferred to have seen the government doing . What we would have preferred to have seen is fully appreciating the unprecedented measures that the government have put in place, if one looks at the statistics, over the course of the pandemic, you can see that arrears in relation to mortgages have gone back to prepandemic levels, social renters have gone back to prepandemic Level Bus the private sector is at threefold what it was in terms of debts before ten pandemic, so, it is very clear to us, that while, you know, there are, there is support out there to help renters it is not enough. What we would like to see is a Tenancy Saver Loan so people like rupert can borrow the money over a longer period of time. The landlord can have confidence the money is coming and that ought to be able to give renters and landlords the knowledge that this short Term Injection of cash will be sufficient to sustain the tenancy, and in terms of cost, we estimate that this scheme will cost in the region of between two and £300 million, which when you look at the cost of the eat out to help out scheme, 850 million, is a small price to way, whether or not there is an investment. It is like it will will come in terms of temporary Homelessness Support if there isnt any immediate assistance that follows the ban lifting. I there isnt any immediate assistance that follows the ban lifting. That follows the ban lifting. I want to net that follows the ban lifting. I want to get your that follows the ban lifting. I want to get your specific that follows the ban lifting. I want to get your specific response i that follows the ban lifting. I want to get your specific response to i to get your specific response to what the government is saying on this. It talks about evictions not being carried out if a member of a home has covid symptoms. It says financial help is still available such as the Furlough Scheme available until The End of september. What do you make of that specific response Ins Relation to this story . This story . Well, the extended notice periods this story . Well, the extended notice periods dont this story . Well, the extended notice periods dont do this story . Well, the extended. Notice periods dont do anything this story . Well, the extended i notice periods dont do anything to address the underlying debt. Itjust prolongs the inevitable and simply allows the tenant to accrue greater debt, as far as furlough is concerned, 80 of salary, a lot of renters are already struggling beforehand and i appreciate there are benefits out there that people can access when they are not in work but the overriding point is the figures dont lie. Threefold increase of arrears compared to to prepandemic and the government needs to act, in the interest of renters and landlords. I5 to act, in the interest of renters and landlords. To act, in the interest of renters and landlords. Is any Element Of this down to and landlords. Is any Element Of this down to the and landlords. Is any Element Of this down to the stamp and landlords. Is any Element Of this down to the Stamp Duty i and landlords. Is any Element Of. This down to the Stamp Duty holiday and landlords perhaps deciding they want to sell their property, rather than continue to rent it out to own that property and to rent it out. Is that property and to rent it out. Is that part of this equation or not . I dont think so. If it is, then it will affect a very very small cohort of landlords that are looking to available of that scheme. My advice to landlords s you know, try and conciliate with your tenth, enxxxx tenant. Sustain it where possible and consider whether moving back in or selling the property is the right thing to do at the right time. fiifi thing to do at the right time. Ok, ben, Thank Thing to do at the right time. Ok, ben. Thank you thing to do at the right time. Ok, ben, thank you very thing to do at the right time. 0k, ben, thank you very much for your time. Now its time for a look at the weather with carol kirkwood. Hello again. If youre stepping out today, bear in mind the uv levels across the board are high, or very high, across southern england. Now, weve also got cloud, low cloud that is, mist and fog, burning back towards the North Sea coastline, where some of it will linger through the day. Some fair Weather Cloud developing as well, turning the Sunshine Hazy in places. And with light breezes, temperatures widely into the low to mid 20s, it will feel pleasant. But cooler along the North Sea coastline, especially where we do have that lingering cloud. Now, if anything, more cloud, low cloud, mist and fog, will come inland from the North Sea as we go through the night. An approaching front also introducing a bit more cloud. So, as a result, its not going to be a cold night. In fact tomorrow, rather like today, we will see that cloud burn back to the North Sea coastline, where, in parts, it will linger. Again, depressing the temperature. And as this front approaches, it could produce the odd shower in Northern Ireland and western scotland. But most will miss them. A wee bit warmer tomorrow than today. Hello, this is Bbc News with Annita Mcveigh. The headlines. Translation all parties are invited to join the government. For the government to succeed, we will all have to show restraint, both during the negotiations and later on. Nobody is being asked to give up on their ideology, but everybody will have to make some compromises. Under the proposed deal, the two men would reportedly take turns to be Prime Minister. It is a very precarious coalition, and it doesnt take much at all to bring it all crashing down, even before its consummated. Mr netanyahu had been offering Naftali Bennett his own last Minute Power Sharing arrangement and was quick to respond. Translation i heard Naftali Bennett. I unfortunately, he is again misleading the public. The same lies, same empty slogans on Hate And Division from someone who helps hatred and division. Hundreds of afghans who worked for the british military and at its embassy in kabul will be rapidly relocated with many expected to be resettled in the uk. The decision comes amid fears for their safety as international troops prepare to leave the country and the Security Situation deteriorates. 0ur Defence Correspondent Jonathan Beale has more. Afghan interpreters have put their lives on the line, serving alongside british troops in combat in helmand until 201a. Though some have already been allowed to resettle in the uk, many were left behind, and are now living in real danger, with their old employers soon about to leave for good. The departure of all us, british and nato forces is under way. And there are growing concerns that those who work for them will be targeted by the taliban. So the governments agreed a new programme to bring hundreds more back to britain for safety. Along with their immediate families, it could mean more than 3,000 afghans coming here to make their home in the uk. With the western powers leaving afghanistan, the threat is increasing and has increased with targeted attacks against afghans by the taliban. So, we think its the right thing to do, to stand by these people. They sacrificed a lot to look after us, and now were going to do the same. The Defence And Home secretaries, seen here last year meeting some of the afghans whove already resettled in the uk, say its a moral obligation to look after them. But it will also be a huge challenge in the midst of the military withdrawal. The last of the 750 british troops in kabul are due to leave by september, and its not yet clear where these afghan families will be resettled in the uk. Jonathan beale, Bbc News. A temporary ban on Bailiff Enforced Evictions, introduced in england at the start of the pandemic, has come to an end today. New rules designed to reduce the number of fake Whiplash Claims have come into force in england and wales. The government says the changes will save the average motorist around £35 a year on their car insurance. The system has been simplified and motorists can now use an online portal to make accident claims under £5,000. There is now a ban on settling Whiplash Cases without medical evidence a practice which has in the past opened the door to fraudulent or exaggerated claims. Insurers have pledged to pass on the savings that these reforms will create to drivers. Will batchelor reports. More than 80 of all personal injury claims for Road Traffic accidents last year were related to whiplash, over half A Million of them. The government says the changes will stop those looking for an easy Pay Day abusing the system, while ordinary drivers pay the price. Will batchelor, Bbc News. Trying to be fair on twitter says. Sorry, that is not his tweet. Trying to be fair says we need to get back to normal now the most vulnerable are vaccinated. Im self employed with no income for more than 12 months, says trying to be fair. Ben says we should have a lockdown for people who point blank refused to get the vaccine. Make people show their vaccine cards to get into businesses and public spaces. Anti vaxxers are those put in a country at risk. Another says covid is here to stay, if the government is here to stay, if the government is too scared to tell everybody to get vaccinated, have a Referendum And Stick to the result. If i didnt manage to read yours out, i do definitely read all of the comments myself, even if they are not all brought to you on air. Thank you for your time. Brought to you on air. Thank you for yourtime. Good brought to you on air. Thank you for your time. Good to get your opinions. After one of the wettest mays on record, the sun has finally made an appearance for the Bank Holiday weekend, with temperatures set to reach 25 degrees today. Thousands of people have flooded to the seaside to make the most of it. 0ur Reporter Adam Mcclean has spent the morning on sunny skegness on the north east coast of england. It is shaping up to be an absolutely beautiful day in skegness. Still quite a few clouds in the sky but they are slowly and surely burning away. We are on the Skegness Pier and it has been here since 1881. As you can see from our drone shot, it is a little shorter than you might expect because much of it was washed away in a huge storm more than a0 years ago. The company that recently bought the pier, they have some very big plans for it indeed. We will hear about that injust a moment. Lets take a little look at this. We thought we would send you a postcard from the seaside. In skegness, the sunny Bank Holiday gave tourism a much needed boost. Its been a while since the sounds of a busy seaside filled the town. We had. We went to the shops, we had dinner, and now were on the beach. And then were going to go to the machine, the arcade. And were leaving at eight. This Bank Holidays turned out to be a boost. And it needed it, didnt it . It definitely needed it. I mean, now the restrictions have eased a little bit, people are coming out at last. They reckon one in three families will be holidaying in the uk this Bank Holiday, which is good for us, good for all the trade in skeg, mablethorpe and cleethorpes. I can vouch for every resort. Theyre all doing well. Johns family have offered donkey rides here since the first world war. He plans to pass the business on to future generations. Well, you think, when you look back at the old photographs of sailors riding donkeys, coming to the port of grimsby, you know, on Shore Leave in the war, and now we all got shut down through, you know, a virus. They carried on through the war, so ive carried on through the virus. Around Four Million visitors come to skegness every year. Jobs here depend on the recovery of tourism. Ithink, you know, people are enjoying, and its nice to see people back to skeggy. It looks beautiful. And you can see, i think, everything will be all right. The uks got to be back and, you know, support the country, and thats how its got to be. And its brilliant. Id rather people stay here than go out, then bring the virus back in. Im trying to get one of them, not all of the coins. Its the first day out since lockdown started a year last march, with grandchildren. Whats it like to be back out with the kids . Lovely. Well, theyve grown so much. Theyve missed so much. With indoor entertainment now open, the arcades were busy. At the pier, this new space welcomed its first Bank Holiday visitors. Ive been in the Leisure Industry a long time, and this is the hardest 12 months ive ever known, obviously. Its greatjust to see people about again. You know, theres nothing quite like seeing a family of kids enjoying themselves and people smiling. Its recognition for the hard work that everyone in leisure puts in. Restaurants and bars benefited from indoor eating and drinking. This Fish And Chip shop got through three tonnes of potatoes. Its been manic, absolutely manic. I mean, i know its a Bank Holiday, but this is sort of a double whammy Bank Holiday all in one go. Its been busier than what we ever expected. Its such a big relief. You know, with all this covid going on last year, every business, you know, took a hit on the resort. But i mean, today, its probably made up for a lot of missed days, i suppose. So, yeah. I mean, weve been nonstop since we opened our doors at 10. 30 this morning. For many here, its been the most normal spring Bank Holiday in two years. Businesses in the Resort Hope Today will be just the same. We arejoined now by Brendan Bugg from embassy theatre skegness. You were able to reopen on friday, what was it like when those curtains went up . Strange emotion, adam, to be honest. I was expecting it to be emotional but i wasnt expecting it to be quite as emotive for everybody else. There is a smaller team at the theatre now, so there has been some hardship and some redundancies but we have retained a core team, and bringing everybody back together and welcoming back in customers for the first time in a3a days was very special, really special. What was it like for the staff who were able to get back on stage, get behind the scenes, this is why you are in it, isnt it, to entertain people, make them happy . Absolutely, everybody is in this job because they want to see people have a good time, people are craving live entertainment, it has been a pretty brutal year or more, and we can deliver something, weve got six comedians coming up, everybody wants a good laugh and a good night out and that is what we are in the building to do. Fingers crossed we will now get to do that. It has been incredibly busy over the Bank Holiday weekend, what has the atmosphere being like here so far . Its been really positive. Sort of operation find a parking space, to be honest. Its been really busy. I think that is what the town and the area needed, lots of seaside resorts have really struggled, skegness being one of those, many others around the country. But the fact that people are able to travel here in significant numbers, enjoy the entertainment that a seaside resort can provide, is really pleasing, but i expect a really busy and positive summer season. There has been investment as well, weve been hearing about £1 million spent on the indoor spaces here, this area is attracting investment . Definitely, it is on the up, adam, it really is. As you mentioned, the pier had £1 million spent on it, we have invested heavily as a company, weve now got a cafe, and an urban highwire attraction, lots of other things to offer in addition to our leisure centres. We have a very popular but also very available product here in skegness and there are many businesses that can offer somebody a very good day out or holiday. Thank you very much forjoining us this morning, brendan. It is shaping up to be a very busy Bank Holiday monday. It is estimated that nearly 11 Million carjourneys will be made today so take care if you are out on the roads, make sure you take a bottle of water with you. The Ice Cream Stall is about to open at the other end of the pier so i think we are going to go and join the queue. I hope if you are on the beach today, or anywhere else, you get to enjoy an Ice Cream in the sunshine. Speaking of the weather, lets take a look. If temperatures exceed 25 today, it will be the warmest day of the year so far. But there is a greater chance of it tomorrow. We have some cloud burning back towards the North Sea coastline, where some of it will linger through the day. For most, it is going to be dry and sunny and warm, with some fairWeather Cloud developing. High is easily low to mid 20s. Cooler where we have the lingering cloud. These are the sea temperatures, still on the low side. We will see them coming up as we head toward september. For the rest of the day and into the evening and overnight, we see a return to the low cloud coming in from the North Sea. Towards the west we have got an approaching Weather Front. It is not going to be a cold night for many parts of the country. They will actually stay in double figures. Tomorrow we start with all the low cloud, mist and fog. Like today, it will burn back to the North Sea coastline, lingering in parts, holding back the temperatures once again. With the approaching Weather Front we could have the odd isolated shower in Northern Ireland and western scotland. Highs up to 25 or even 26. Moving into wednesday, we have this approaching area of low pressure. Coming up from the south. It looks like it has got the potential to bring in some heavy showers which potentially also could be thundery. Moving away from here, we are looking at another dry and sunny and warm day. Temperatures getting up to about 25 or 26 and once again cooler along the North Sea Coastline And Cooler where we are likely to cease of those showers. On thursday, still a bit of cloud coming in from the south west, some showers with that as well, but dry conditions across the North And East with some sunshine, and these are the kind of temperatures you can expect. Still above average for the time of year. The average incidentally is roughly 16 19 north to south. Towards The End of the week there is a chance we could have some further showers and longer spells of rain with some sunshine in between, temperatures slipping a touch. This is Bbc News. The headlines. The fight against coronavirus steps up a gear, with englands largest mass Vaccination Centre opening with the potential to give 15,000 doses in one day. And coming up we report on the story of historical forced adoptions and the mothers on the story of historical forced theres a fresh push to get more people in england vaccinated against Covid 19, amid concerns that the variant first identified in india could delay the next phase of re opening. Ministers want everyone over 50 to have had both doses before The End ofjune. Englands largest Vaccination Centre has opened at Twickenham Rugby Stadium. Up to 1,500 jabs will be available for people who havent yet received their first vaccine. The government has said it will wait untiljune the 1ath to decide whether social distancing restrictions can be lifted a week later. Some scientists have warned against any further easing of coronavirus measures. 0ur political Correspondent Nick Eardley says three Weeks Today is supposed to be a really big moment for the nation. It is supposed to be a big moment where the legal restrictions in place are lifted, where some of the venues like nightclubs are able to re open, where potentially get full crowds back in Football Stadiums as part of the european championships, there is nervousness about that, the indian variant means a lot of people are scratching their heads, can this still go ahead, does it need to be delayed . Maybe it is only partial. But i think the government doesnt really want to engage with that yet until it has seen all the data but increasingly we are hearing scientists raise concerns about the full easing, the complete removal of legal restrictions happening on 21st june. This morning on the Today Programme, we heard from someone from nerve tag, one of the bodies that advices the government. The roblem that advices the government. The problem is that advices the government. The problem is we that advices the government. The problem is we are, we are not too far from problem is we are, we are not too far from reaching the sort of levels of vaccination that would, would help us of vaccination that would, would help us contain the virus, and i think help us contain the virus, and i think that help us contain the virus, and i think that the people are not saying that we think that the people are not saying that we should, you know abandon the June 21st that we should, you know abandon the june 215t date all together but just delay june 215t date all together but just delay it june 215t date all together but just delay it by a few weeks while we gather delay it by a few weeks while we gather more intelligence and we can look at gather more intelligence and we can look at the gather more intelligence and we can look at the trajectory in a clearer, in a clearer look at the trajectory in a clearer, in a clearer way, and look at the trajectory in a clearer, in a clearerway, and if look at the trajectory in a clearer, in a clearer way, and if you look at the costs in a clearer way, and if you look at the costs and benefits of getting it wrong, the costs and benefits of getting it wrong, i the costs and benefits of getting it wrong, i think that it is heavily in the favour wrong, i think that it is heavily in the favour of delay, sol wrong, i think that it is heavily in the favour of delay, so i think that, the favour of delay, so i think that, that the favour of delay, so i think that, that is the key thing, yes, you are that, that is the key thing, yes, you are right, we will learn to live with it. You are right, we will learn to live with it. But you are right, we will learn to live with it, but this date that was set, did not with it, but this date that was set, did not take with it, but this date that was set, did not take into account the fact we would did not take into account the fact we would have a new variant on the horizon we would have a new variant on the horizon with we would have a new variant on the horizon with properties that allow it to evade antibodies to some extents it to evade antibodies to some extents and a virus that is is more transmissable. The extents and a virus that is is more transmissable. Extents and a virus that is is more transmissable. The government will see it is still transmissable. The government will see it is still following transmissable. The government will see it is still following the see it is still following the science and what happen it will do is look at the data coming in, it says it is too early to make any Cast Iron decisions and what it needs to do is look at the date that comes out before round about 1ath june, making some sort of decision on what happens on the 21st, but absolutely, a lot of tension there between the economic side of this, the Health Side of it, and this morning, the Environment Secretary George eustace was asked about exactly that. I George Eustace was asked about exactly that George Eustace was asked about exactly that. I have said all along as has matt exactly that. I have said all along as has Matt Hancock exactly that. I have said all along as has Matt Hancock and exactly that. I have said all along as has Matt Hancock and the i exactly that. I have said all along i as has Matt Hancock and the Prime Minister as has Matt Hancock and the Prime Minister we Cant Rule anything out because minister we Cant Rule anything out because we know it has been a difficult because we know it has been a difficult pandemic, a dynamic situation, we have to make that judgment situation, we have to make that judgment a couple of weeks before, it will judgment a couple of weeks before, it will only judgment a couple of weeks before, it will only be by then we will see the full it will only be by then we will see the full impact of the latestsments we made the full impact of the latestsments we made on 17th may, sol the full impact of the latestsments we made on 17th may, so i know everyone we made on 17th may, so i know everyone wants to know what is going to happen everyone wants to know what is going to happen but we cant make that judgment to happen but we cant make that judgment until we see the impact of the easements we have just made. There the easements we have just made. There is the easements we have just made. There is a the easements we have just made. There is a race just now, anita, there is a racejust now, anita, between the new variant and the spread of the virus, and the Vaccine Roll Out and we are Hearing Ministers talk all the time about getting the second dose of the vaccine, that is because the science suggests that the protection you get, even from this new variant after two doses is much higher than it is from one dose, it is about a third with one dose, it is double, if not more than if you have both. You will hear a lot of messaging about exactly that, about getting over 50s double vaccinated by the zist over 50s double vaccinated by the 21stjune, but at the moment, i dont think there is any guarantee at all, that the full easing goes ahead in three weeks. And in bolton, in north west england, Health Officials are using the Bank Holiday and Half Term to try and encourage more people there to have the vaccine. A new Walk In Centre capable of giving out thousands of doses a day will be open until sunday and the army has been brought in to help with door to Door Testing after the continued spread of the indian coronavirus variant. The town has been one of the worst Hit Places in the country. 0ur Correspondent Stephen Mcdonell explained more about the Landmark Shift in policy from the chinese government. Some are wondering why, given the demographic situation in this country, with an ageing population, there are birth restrictions here at all, but this is big news, i mean, a little over an hour ago, I Am sure you can see out the window its a pretty bleak Rainy Day, in china, i went out to buy a coffee and all Of A Sudden the news was popping up on peoples phones, you could see them looking at them, bling, bling, the headlines are coming through and the chatter round the cafe, three child this, three child that, and you know, people are talking about what this means for them, but the headache for the authorities has been they eased off one Child Policy into a two Child Policy and it didnt result in a big up take in people availing themselves of the opportunity for multiple children. According to most recent census data here, Birth Rates are roughly 1960 levels. Somehow or other you have to pay for an ageing population with new people coming into the workforce, paying taxes or whatever, and so the decision has been made to and so the decision has been made to a three Child Policy, but, as people have become more affluent here, you know, if you are a poor farmer in the 1970s, more kids means more hands to work the farm, well, young affluent couples in the cities dont want that any more, and so, you know, many have questioned whether or not simply trying to encourage people to have more kids is the way to fix that demographic problem, because after all, you cantjust keep expanding the population for ever, you are kicking the prop down the road, if you like, eventually you will have to work out a way to pay for that ageing population. So it is going to be very interesting to see if it work, if going from a two Child Policy to a three Child Policy does result in more people having kids because certainly we have interviewed them in the Run Up to that most recent census and asked people, would you have more kids if you could, and most people you talk to in the streets here say no, thaw wont. So there are the big questions steven round future demographics, the size of the population in the country, but given that the government has announced this relaxation, this relaxation of the Family Planning Policy right now, is It Planning to incentivise couples to have more children, in any other way . I to have more children, in any other wa . ~. , to have more children, in any other wa . ,. ,. , to have more children, in any other wa . ~. ,. , way . I think that is what they will have to look way . I think that is what they will have to look at way . I think that is what they will have to look at doing, way . I think that is what they will have to look at doing, we way . I think that is what they will have to look at doing, we haventj have to look at doing, we havent had any announcements along those lines, but without some sort of help, financially, i dont think people will, because it is one of the key things people say, when you ask them, would you have more kids, they say i would rather have less children, and give them a better life, than say spread my income over more kids. France where police were trying to capture a man, a former soldier who had shots at them, we are hearing that this individual, the former soldier, has been injured in a shoot out with police, the threat using the words of the authorities there has been neutralised. Residents in the nearby area had been asked to stay at home, until further notice as this Security Operation continued, but the french authorities now say that this man has been shot and injured by police and they say the threat has been neutralised. Sue is letting a family gradually pay back thousands they couldnt afford in the first lockdown, which affects her too. Israels Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that a proposed new Unity Government without him as its leader would be a danger for the security of the country. And also someone who was perpetrating, i must say, the fraud of the century. The deadline to form a coalition is looming and comes at the same time as high level talks to strengthen a ceasefire between israeli forces and palestinian militants after 11 days of conflict earlier this month. Courtney bembridge, Bbc News. Sport, and for a full round up, from the bbc sport centre, heres katy. Good afternoon. More than 430,000 volunteers have carried out nearly Two Million tasks for those who had to stay at home during the Coronavirus Pandemic. This included Phone Calls to the isolated, Delivering Medicines and stewarding Covid Vaccination sites. Duncan kennedy reports. Todays figures show its had 436,000 recruits, whove carried out 1. 9 million tasks. That includes 1a,500 lifts to and from hospitals, and more than 800,000 check in and chats on people who are lonely or isolated.
