Across colombia in an attempt to restore order after weeks of deadly anti government protests. And Sri Lanka is facing one of the worst ecological crises in its history, following a fire on board a container ship. And no comment from Downing Street, on reports that borisjohnson has married his Fiancee Carrie simonds in a secret ceremony. Hello and welcome if you re watching in the uk or Around The World. Chelsea Football Team has beaten Manchester City by a goal to nil in the all England Final of the European Champions league. Its the second time the London Team has been crowned the best club in europe, after winning the competition in 2012. Our Sports Correspondent Olly Foster is in porto. How Olly Foster is in porto. Much of an upset was this t expectations how much of an upset was this to expectations for Manchester City . We expectations for Manchester City . Knew it was going to be tight. And all english final, these teams knew Each Other so well. But it was a slight upset because 19 points was a slight upset because 19 points was the difference between Manchester City, they walked to another Premier League title. Chelsea a long way behind them. They just limped over the line into a top fourfinish which would just limped over the line into a top four finish which would give them qualification for this competition next year. You just felt that city would be set up in such an attacking way we looked at the Team Sheet that came out an hour and a quarter before Kick Off 28 Kick Off and Pep Guardiola the Manchester City manager have really gone all out with his attack a few raised eyebrows between Manchester City fans because it was so attacking but youve got to trust Pep Guardiola advice seasons is 15 but this was the one trophy that alluded Manchester City and shirley the german manager told us only came in injanuary for frank my part. He did have an instant impact but they had their wobbles towards The End of the season. Surely he couldnt upset Manchester City and what Committees City fans thought was their destiny. But it was a tactical master class. The way they set themselves up against this manchester cities formation, itjust worked an absolute treat. Chelsea strangled Manchester City, caught them on the break and kai have arts signing committee and only last september our Record Signing for £70 million. He was the difference. Just the one goal in it they got ready on the break. He scored the winnerjust before city had the chances throughout the match but the really stout defending from chelsea putting bodies on the line. Some Goal Line clearances from Last Gasp tackles i got them over the line to be crowned champions again. 2012 they be part of Munich And Munich and now the city of porto will go down in Chelsea Legend once again. But for Manchester City, they will be scratching their heads and wondering how their domestic supremacy could unravel so not spectacularly but they were just found out so easily by Thomas Tuchel Chelsea here. They will be absolute deflation amongst those players some of them in tears at the full time whistle. Compare that to the disbelief and the delight of the chelsea fans who have gone through so much to get here. As Manchester City fans have done as well. But it is chelsea who are crowned European Champions once again. Crowned European Champions once aaain. ,. , crowned European Champions once aaain. , again. Indeed they are the champions was now for again. Indeed they are the champions was now for them . Again. Indeed they are the champions was now for them . They again. Indeed they are the champions was now for them . They will again. Indeed they are the champions was now for them . They will hope again. Indeed they are the champions was now for them . They will hope to | was now for them . They will hope to narrow that was now for them . They will hope to narrow that gap was now for them . They will hope to narrow that Gap On was now for them . They will hope to narrow that gap On Manchester was now for them . They will hope to narrow that Gap On Manchester City | narrow that Gap On Manchester City and try to get closer to winning the league title. They knocked Manchester City out of the Fa Cup only last month. And they lost to lester in that. I dont think they will care about that one little bit having won the greatest prize of all. Underthomas having won the greatest prize of all. Under Thomas Tuchel who like i said it was only brought in halfway through the season, he will now look for a little bit more investment to try and shape that Chelsea Team into the kind of team that he wants. Yes, theyve done very well here but over theyve done very well here but over the course of the season they did sort of limp across the line at The End. He knows they have some serious investment in the Playing Staff if theyre going to catch up with the likes of liverpool who will be much stronger again next season. Manchester united who will develop and grow again trying to catch Manchester City. And city themselves because Pep Guardiola will go right now and try to work out how he has to tweak his team. I mentioned the word tweak because there will be a lot of Manchester City fans and Football Observers who say, what is it about Pep Guardiola . Just as good as Thomas Tuchel was tactically here, Pep Guardiola got it very, very wrong. For all his brilliance as well, hes fallen down yet again. Perhaps he was overthinking this final. Tonight its all about chelsea, its all about this all english final. And its all about football finding a way, 33 capacity that stadium, was 16 and two 6500 fans. It felt like normal, like football had returned and chelsea will turn as champions. Matt graveling is at Stamford Bridge the chelseas stadium, where fans are celebrating. Rita, im going to direct you over my left Hand Shoulderfor rita, im going to direct you over my left Hand Shoulder for a second because weve got a seizure that we havent really been seeing much in English Football or any football really Around The World. Because of the coronavirus pandemic. You could see hundreds of chelsea fans here celebrating outside, they are team of course winning the Champions League for the first time in 2012. It was interesting hearing all foster speaking there saying how it was a little bit of an upset. But what i would say is everybody here thought they were the favourites arguably. They did of course lose the Fa Cup final to last up, people dont care about that. This for them was the big ones. And i could tell you we were treated just a moment ago to a light display towards the left Hand Side over Stamford Bridge and the club had got some lights organise and it said things like champions spelled out. It also said for the fans. And like we said, this is for the fans. So far its been very, very peaceful. This road has got a lot of people on it. We have seen a few people throwing bottles. In a couple of minutes the police pushed back the fans who were marching towards him. You can see the blue Flashing Lights and without a couple of officers coming down now trying to disperse a few people who are causing trouble. Lets not take this away from the chelsea fans because the vast majority of them have been very well behaved here in london. Of course after such a long, tiring season with the pandemic, who can blame them for celebrating a little bit as long as they do it responsibly. Little bit as long as they do it reaponsibly little bit as long as they do it responsibly. Very lively scene. Matt, responsibly. Very lively scene. Matt. Thank responsibly. Very lively scene. Matt, thank you responsibly. Very lively scene. Matt, thank you very responsibly. Very lively scene. Matt, thank you very much. I the president of colombia, eevan duqay, has said he is sending Army Troops to a quarter of the countrys regions in an attempt to restore order after weeks of deadly anti government protests. As thousands marched across colombia to mark a month of demonstrations, there was renewed violence in the southwestern city of cally, with at least 10 further casualties on friday. Our latin America Correspondent Will Grant reports. Colombia is no stranger to violence, but these scenes have shocked the nation. Two months after the protests began, theyre showing no sign of letting up. What started as an outpouring of anger over a proposed Tax Hike has now exploded into pitched battles in several major cities. The epicentre of the anti government protests is cali, a city which suffers from all of colombias social ills, from poverty to paramilitaries and drug cartels. Every day, peaceful protests soon descend into burning barricades and stone throwing. The authorities responding with Tear Gas and live rounds. The latest incident to enrage demonstrators was the sight of civilian gunmen shooting at protesters with the police. Shouting Gunfire One of the alleged shooters, an off Duty Agent from the state attorneys office, was apparently lynched by an angry mob. In response, the president , ivan duque, announced the deployment of some 7000 Military Personnel around the country. Translation | want to make it l absolutely clear that the maximum deployment of Military Assistance to the national police begins as of tonight. They wont find it easy, though. The protesters are in no mood to back down. This violence brings back painful memories of colombias 50 year Civil War between left Wing Farc rebels and the state. Indeed, many say the open wounds from that conflict have fanned the flames of these clashes. Now, instead of strengthening the peace, colombias long and bloody history of social unrest has simply started a new chapter. Will grant, bbc news. Number 10 has declined to comment on reports that borisjohnson married his Fiancee Carrie simonds earlier today in a secret ceremony. The Prime Minister is said to have exchanged vows with ms symonds in westminster cathedral, in front of a number of close friends and family. Our political correspondent Helen Catt gave us this update from Downing Street. There have been a lot a speculation about exactly when and how this wedding was going to take place. The sun and several of the papers this evening reported that it happened earlier at West Minister catholic cathedral. Not very far from here earlier at West Minister catholic cathedral. Not very farfrom here in Downing Street. The couple have been linked publicly in the media since the start of 2019 when they moved in here later that year at the Boris Johnson was elected leader of the conservative party. They were the first unmarried couple to do so. They get a gauge later that year towards The End of 2019. Last year they had a son wilford, his knowledge is over a year old. Downing street is refusing to comment on reports of the wedding this evening put up thats not entirely surprising Boris Johnson this evening put up thats not entirely surprising borisjohnson is notoriously private about his personal life. Whatever is asked questions about his family he refuses to be drawn on that. Its no real surprise of his in any official confirmation coming out of Downing Street this evening for the this is of course mrjohnsons third marriage. He got divorce from his second wife while he was Prime Minister. That makes him the first Prime Minister in a very, very long time to have both divorced and now remarried while in office. Thereve been dozens of demonstrations Around The World to show solidarity with the people of belarus. In poland, hundreds of demonstrators have ta ken to streets of the capital, warsaw. Small gatherings have also been held in other european countries, the us and australia. Many protesters have been calling for the release of the belarussian journalist, roman protasevich, who was detained along with his girlfriend. The plane he was flying on was forced to land in minsk last weekend. At a rally in the lithuanian capital vilnius, the belarusian opposition leader, svetlana tikhanovskaya, said people Around The World were supporting belarus at a decisive moment. Translation they joined the action because they understand how this year and this moment are important for us. Just like me, they are sure that we will win. Just like me, theyre sure that well return home to our Loved Ones and the credit will go to each of you, as we are building a new belarus together, and each of us present here is its foundation. So, once again, thank you very much for being here today. Meanwhile in southern russia, President Putin has unexpectedly held a second day of talks with mr lukashenko. They spent the day onboard a yacht in the black Sea Resort of sochi. Mr putin told the belarusian president the kremlin was closely following the case of mr protasevich s russian girlfriend, sofia sapega, who was detained with him. The two men also discussed providing additional flights between russia and belarus, whose airline has now been banned by several european countries. Earlier i spoke to matthew sherwood, senior Europe Analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit and asked him about the protests in solidairity with belarus. Its certainly in an effort by the opposition in exile, mostly Poland And Lithuania but youre up to keep the attention focused on belarus. Because their main concern is that very quickly as News Cycles move on that people will stop worrying about whats happening there. And that people will stop worrying about whats happening there. That people will stop worrying about whats happening there. And how well attended had whats happening there. And how well attended had it whats happening there. And how well attended had it been, whats happening there. And how well attended had it been, how whats happening there. And how well attended had it been, how effective i attended had it been, how effective will they be . Itruieiiii attended had it been, how effective will they be . Will they be . Well i think in, from what i understand will they be . Well i think in, from what i understand from will they be . Well i think in, from what i understand from your what i understand from your correspondent saying were talking hundreds not thousands. I think its more to make sure that they stay in the news in places like the bbc. I think it does raise the question, what actually can european and the us governments do to actually affect change in belarus . To be honest, its relatively limited, to be honest. , , honest. Interesting because the eu introduced more honest. Interesting because the eu introduced more sanctions honest. Interesting because the eu| introduced more sanctions targeted sanctions against individuals in the lukashenko government last week. And that follow the sections that were introduced last year as well. Will they hurt, can they hurt . Thea;r introduced last year as well. Will they hurt, can they hurt . They can. The thing to they hurt, can they hurt . They can. The thing to remember they hurt, can they hurt . They can. The thing to remember about they hurt, can they hurt . They can. The thing to remember about the i they hurt, can they hurt . They can. L the thing to remember about the Eu Sanctions is theyve been proposed but given the way the you doing that eu is organising needs to be agreed Ljy Eu is organising needs to be agreed by all the members. Thats going to take several months. They have moved this idea of some aid to help with the democratic transition which is sort of if you will, a bride for regime change. And the us has also replaced sanctions as well. These things take a long time to take effect. Mr lukashenko has done quite well, his weathered the storm after the august disputed elections. And he is cracked down quite a bit certainly on the opposition inside belarus. If anything the sanctions just drive him closer to russia where he does find support. Right. I was auoin where he does find support. Right. I was going to where he does find support. Right. I was going to ask where he does find support. Right. I was going to ask you where he does find support. Right. I was going to ask you about where he does find support. Right. I was going to ask you about Russia L was going to ask you about russia because he is under the wing of President Putin. They met yesterday. How reliable do you think Russias Support is for him . How reliable do you think Russias Support is for him . Russias support is reliable no support is for him . Russias support is reliable up to support is for him . Russias support is reliable up to a support is for him . Russias support is reliable up to a certain support is for him . Russias support is reliable up to a certain point. Is reliable up to a certain point. Russias whole Policy Goal is to keep belarus from moving closer to the western orbit, if you well. Maybe further integration with Eu Or Defence organisations like nato. So for now they will stick with lukashenko was up they are not thrilled with him necessarily but he is the person in place at the moment. And they are probably buying themselves time until they can orchestrate potentially able to replace them with someone that is more to their liking. But yet would still keep belarus firmly in russias camp. 50 still keep belarus firmly in russias camp. Still keep belarus firmly in russias camp. Still keep belarus firmly in russias cam. , , russias camp. So really you think the ower russias camp. So really you think the power lies russias camp. So really you think the power lies with russias camp. So really you think the power lies with russia russias camp. So really you think the power lies with Russia Ratherl the power lies with russia rather than europe. The power lies with russia rather than europe than europe. Yes. Russia is very aood at than europe. Yes. Russia is very good at extracting than europe. Yes. Russia is very good at extracting Concessions L than europe. Yes. Russia is very good at extracting concessions from those who are economically dependent on it. There are things that europe and the us can do. If the sections go forward at the eu is proposing notjust on individuals but if they really started targeting some of the state companies that certainly lukashenko enters ill two Allies Benefit from. Things like the oil company, the Refinery Belarus produces 20 of the worlds potash. Things like that. These are Money Generating Entities that if russells are serious about really trying to bring lucas shook it down, they will consider such measures. The headlines on bbc news. Uk music festivals could be facing another lost summer according to mps, who blame the government for not introducing an Insurance Safety Net for organisers. A report from the digital, culture, media and Sport Committee said ministers had refused to take multiple opportunities to address concerns and that s now too late for many festivals to go ahead this year. World Opt Out after the weather we ll Take A Look at tomorrow s front pages in the papers our guestsjoining me tonight are are sian griffiths, the Education Editor of The Sunday Times and political commentatorjames millar. Now it s time for a look at the weather with stav danaos. Hello there. Many places saw some warm sunshine on saturday. But we did have a bit more cloud across northern and western areas. But through sunday and into Bank Holiday monday we should see more in the way of sunshine around. So it will feel warmer across the board. High pressure is dominating this scene but the orientation, where sitting is allowing a little bit of Cloud And Mist rolling off the North Sea. That will affect northern and eastern coast at times. But it will tend to burn back to the coast through the day. The odd isolated shower could develop here and there. We could see a little bit of high cloud across southern britain into the afternoon. But it s the low Cloud And Mist affecting the northern isles, perhaps down in towards northeast england, across coastal East Anglia which could affect the temperatures close to the coast around mid teens celsius. But you have to head further in land to see those values reach around the low 20 celsius with a good deal of sunshine around. You can see the odd shower dotted across parts of scotland and northern ireland. These will fade away during Sunday Night and then we will see that low Cloud And Mist roll back into some eastern areas perhaps even toward Southeast England the further west you are the skies will tend to stay clear. Very little changed to the Pressure Pattern as we head into Bank Holiday monday. This Weather Front is kept out at bay, High Pressure towards the northeast. Could start quite grey and cool across and East And South eastern areas. Again the sunshine will get going on that cloud, burning it back to the coast. Could see a little bit of fair Weather Cloud bubbling up again in land. Otherwise we should see more sunshine around and it will be a little bit warmer. Temperatures reaching around 23 May be 2a or 25 celsius in the warmest spot. For tuesday i think this is the peak of this warm spell. It will be a dry and sunny day for most. A bit of fair Weather Cloud just building up to the day. I think we could see temperatures reach around 25 maybe even 26 degrees in the warmer spots. A little bit warmer as well across the North Sea coast as we pick up more of a southerly breeze on tuesday. But then we will start to see a change from wednesday onward we could be looking at this area of low pressure moving up bringing a line of showers and thunderstorms. Particularly across southern and western areas. It will also introduce something slightly cooler and fresher as we move towards The End of the week. That will be most noticeable across more northern and western areas. That s it. See you later. Hello, this is bbc news.
