And i think people will understand that there is a pandemic, which could not have been foreseen at the time we made that commitment to 0. 7 throughout this parliament. Thats one of the objections from outside. There are a few small, but noisy, bands of protesters whove made it to the fringes of the summit. And trouble looms on a different front too. The uk is not at the eu table any more, but the others still huddled together. With intense tension over how brexit� s affected northern ireland, plotting, perhaps, how to take on borisjohnson on that tomorrow. Thats a side bar to the main business, though. We have the g20 summit coming up in rome in october, and what is decided here thus form the basis of what is negotiated later in the year running up to the un World Climate conference, the cop 26 in glasgow. It is important once delivered here but you are right, there is a scepticism on the sidelines and among the activists we see here in cornwall that they talk with promises and then dont deliver. And i think people will remain sceptical until borisjohnson remain sceptical until Boris Johnson and remain sceptical until borisjohnson and the other leaders can reassure them that the things they are setting out here will bring about meaningful change. As we mentioned, World Leaders have pledged to donate more than one billion covid vaccines to poorer countries that are struggling to vaccinate their populations. In south africa for example only one percent of the population has had theirfirstjab. 0ur Science Editor David Shukman has been looking at whether todays commitment from g7 leaders will be enough to defeat this pandemic globally. He sent this report. Coronavirus vaccines are starting to reach the remotest corners of the world. This team has come to a village in kenya. But the problem isnt so much giving out doses, but getting hold of them in the first place, to have any chance of getting even a fraction of each country immunised by the autumn. Africa needs an extra 225 million doses. This will really require a massive effort, as our early projections indicate that without a significant boost in the availability of vaccines, only seven african countries will achieve this goal. So far, Around The World, about 2 billion doses have been given and some 480 Million People are now fully vaccinated. But thats still only 6. 2 of the global population, and some regions have done far better than others. Sub Saharan Africa has received only 1 of all Vaccine Doses, and 18 african countries have either totally run out like morocco and rwanda or are due to run out in the next few weeks, including kenya and ghana. 50, africa is really the. Seems to be the last continent that will be vaccinated. It will be mid to end of next year, by our calculations. But currently, there simply arent enough doses available for africa. They havent procured enough doses. And the real problem is that africa is not producing any doses. They dont have any domestic production, apart from a little bit in south africa. So, what needs to happen . Well, weve had a flurry of offers from the g7. The us promising 500 million doses, the uk 100 million, the eu the same, and japan, 30 million. But the medical charity the Wellcome Trust says the rich nations should be giving a billion doses this year, and also filling a gap in the funding of 18 billion for testing and for treatments in the poorest countries. And as a reminder of the urgency of all this, uganda is the latest country to go back into lockdown, with schools closing and children sent home, as cases have suddenly shot up again. There is a clear route out of the pandemic but, as things stand, it will take time. David shukman, bbc news. You take a look at where we are, we have largely been crawling so far and i think the commitments that we thing this week of1 billion doses over the next year from the g7 access to a place where we are walking but if we will beat this pandemic, really need to be sprinting. A un backed analysis has found that 350,000 people are living in severe crisis in and around the war torn region, where Government Forces are fighting rebels. Goldman sachs, one of the big Investment Banking firms here in the us had said it is ok that they will ask their us employees to disclose whether they have been vaccinated, they are saying we are not asking you to be vaccinated, that is a personal choice, but we just want to know whether you have or have not been so we can safely plan the return to office work. The question is, when you have a firm of the stature of Goldman Sachs doing this, does this mean that other firms will follow their lead . I think that is the question and youre seeing some pushback from other firms like apple, simplyjust telling the staff that they will have to return to an office a couple of days a week in the autumn. Its been more than a century since the sea eagle has been spotted in southern scotland. During the quiet months of lockdown, the birds returned to nest. But now, with activity and footfall increasing, there are fears that they could be scared away again. 0ur scotland correspondent lorna gordon sent us this report. Out on patrol in the waters of loch lomond, the rangers who make sure any visitors here, both human and animal, remain safe, are now looking out for britains largest bird of prey, too. Have you seen these birds . I have, indeed. There is no mistaking them. They are absolutely huge. It was more shock at first. We are used to seeing ospreys and buzzards, gulls, crows, anything like that, loads of different wildlife birds. But seeing a white tailed eagle, its a good feeling. With their 8ft wingspan, sea eagles, or white tailed eagles, were once hunted to extinction. But successfully reintroduced, there are now thought to be over 150 Breeding Pairs. As their numbers have grown, the territory they can be spotted in has spread. I dont think my luck� s in today, unfortunately. No sign today, no. The loch lomond pair arrived during the quiet of lockdown. Experts hope, even as it gets busier again, they will choose to stay. Very heavily protected, so we are obviously avoiding disturbance of them, but they are wonderful birds to see back. The fear we have is the birds will be disturbed from people either walking and getting too close to the nest, orfrom being on the water, either kayaking orjet skiing. But the hope is that wont happen and the birds will come back next year and they will breed successfully and we will have a Breeding Pair of sea eagles on loch lomond. But not everyone is happy to see the birds return. In some locations, sea eagles have attacked lambs. And while this hasnt happened here, farmers are concerned and warn they will be counting their livestock. It is more than a century since sea eagles have been seen nesting this close to glasgow. Their reappearance means a new balance is needed between all those who use these waters. But conservationists hope that, with a little help, they will stay, breed and flourish. Final preparations are under way in the uk for tomorrows Military Parade Celebrating the queens 95th birthday. In fact, further south and east, we did get some sunshine and some warmth. This was hastings a little earlier on. A Weather Front introduced more cloud generally across the country and a slightly fresher feel behind it as well. Now, the cloud didnt produce that much in the way of rain, but certainly it was quite persistent. And at times, many of us had scenes like this. This was leek in staffordshire.
