We dont necessarily have to discount the rate, but once we took this package, then youll get these extra as a valued addition, 0k . Now pretty much everybody does, and you will see that the big Holiday Companies have said, ok, we want to be as flexible as possible, in order to get in your pocket. And so quite typically they will let you change your destination. They will allow you to postpone your trip, sometimes up to a few weeks, maybe even a few days before departure. You wont be able to get a Cash Refund if the trip is still going ahead, but you will have the Peace Of Mind that you will be able to enjoy the holiday at some stage in the future. Accommodation providers are increasingly flexible, and so i am booking stuff where i know that i only pay at check in. Theyll probably still want a Credit Card Number to prove that you are serious, but please remember to cancel as early as you possibly can if youre not going to be taking it up, so they can give it to someone else. Id love to say theres bargains galore out there, but while there are some really cheap deals popping up here and there, i suspect that the overall trend for the year is going to be that whatever you paid in 2019, expect to pay a quarter, third, maybe half as much again as the airlines and Holiday Companies desperately try to recoup some money. Dont forget to build in the cost of testing. Coming back to the uk, for example, i have to have a test before i leave and another one on arrival. And for a family, that can really start to add up. Increasingly, countries are saying, right, either we are only allowing visitors in if theyve had both jabs, or if you can prove you have been immunised, we will allow you a much easier admission, perhaps avoiding testing or needing to quarantine. Which raises the question, how do you prove it . Here in england, for example, where im lucky enough to have been vaccinated, i have a fairly flimsy piece of card to prove it. And the government is giving us a Smartphone App which will hopefully allow us to cross borders. There isnt any international agreement yet, so whatever agreement yet, so wherever you are going its really important to find out what sort of proof will be acceptable. Early on in the covid crisis, Cruise Ships were hotspots for the virus, and as cruising finally gets going again at scale, a lot of Cruise Lines are saying if youve not been fully vaccinated, youre not getting on board. After yesterdays strong winds and Heavy Rain the Weekends Weather is looking a little bit more optimistic, certainly today we have drier and brighter weather than the last few days and crucially it is less windy, still a few showers in the forecast so it wont be dry across the board but some usable weather between any showers. Here is the area of low pressure and all that cloud that swirled around it yesterday now clearing towards the east, that was what brought us the really Heavy Rain and strong winds, low pressure still close enough to bring breezy conditions around Eastern Scotland and Eastern England but with higher pressure starting to build from the west, things will improve through the day. Sunshine initially for scotland and Northern Ireland will filter its way further south and east across england and wales through the afternoon. Still a few scattered showers bubbling up here and there, especially for parts of central and Eastern England and Northern Ireland, as well. Temperatures about ten to 15 degrees so in the sunny spells between any showers some people miss them altogether, it will feel reasonably pleasant. Into the evening some heavy showers initially towards the east but they will ease away overnight with things becoming dry for most with long clear spells, quite a chilly night, could be a touch of Grass Frost across parts of scotland and northern england, just about frost free further south. During the day on sunday after that cool start there will be more rain, it moves slowly from west to east so some dry weather before it arrives, breezy later in the day because another area of low pressure moves in, quite a few isobars wrapped around that area of low pressure as well but for the bulk of the day quite a bit of central and Eastern Scotland, Eastern Side of england, stays largely dry. Some sunshine around, we have this band of fairly Heavy Rain initially for Northern Ireland pushing into Western Parts of britain through the afternoon, in the sunny spells 1a degrees or so but if youre stuck under the rain more like 10 or 11 degrees, still not especially warm for this stage in may. Into monday, the main band of rain clears from the east but lingers across scotland, elsewhere a Day Sunshine and heavy showers, could be the Odd Rumble of thunder mixed in, still relatively cool, around 13 or 1a degrees at best. Into the new working week, things start off fairly cool and unsettled and showery, but it looks like we expect at last some slightly drier and slightly warmer weather towards the end of the week.
