The history makers. Chelsea lift the womens super League Title for a record fourth time, their second trophy in what could be an historic quadruple this season. Tv Presenter Scarlett Moffatt tells us about the pain of being tormented by online trolls and how a desperate call to the samaritans saved her life. A lot of negativity. And before long, it was just consuming me, this sadness was just consuming every part of my body. Good morning. This week were looking at a mixture of sunshine and showers, relatively frost free. Today there is also the forecast, but can throw in some gusty winds across england and wales. All of the details coming up. Its monday the 10th of may. Our top story. The Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has responded to a poor set of Election Results with a Shadow Cabinet re shuffle. It sees Rachel Reeves replacing Anneliese Dodds as Shadow Chancellor and new roles for the Deputy Leader Angela Rayner. But some critics say Sir Keir is ducking responsibility for a bad campaign. Our political correspondent Damian Grammaticas has more. Any news on the reshuffle . For the labour leader, this was a late finish after a torrid few days. In his office, hed worked deep into Sunday Evening to complete his reworking of his top team. Sir Keir Starmer says labour needs bold ideas after a disappointing set of elections and must change. So out goes Anneliese Dodds. She has lost herjob as Shadow Chancellor. Once Part Ofjeremy corbyn s team, she has been moved to the lower Profile Role of Party Chair. It was sir kier s difficulty shifting sharing the old party shifting the old Party Chair, his deputy Angela Rayner, that complicated this reshuffle. Her allies say she has emerged strengthened with a new role to find ways to win back voters lost to the conservatives. Angela rayner tweeted. I will work tirelessly to reform our party and deliver a Policy Agenda that will enable us to reconnect with the voters that we need to win, especially in our traditional heartlands. Labours new Shadow Chancellor is Rachel Reeves. She tweeted. Our economic recovery must be fair. We must transform lives and back businesses in every part of our country. And Wes Streeting has a new Shadow Cabinet role focused on Child Poverty. He said. Child poverty in britain is rising. This is what happens when tories win and labour loses. Having grown up on a Council Estate on free school meals, i am happy tojoin Keir Starmer s Shadow Cabinet. The weekend did bring some labour cheer. Tracy brabin, the first ever mayor of West Yorkshire, adding to gains in cambridgeshire and the west of england. And labour won Council Seats in places that have been traditional tory areas in west sussex, oxfordshire, and worthing on the south coast. But with all Council Results in, the bigger picture remains sobering for labour. In these elections, it lost control of eight councils, while the conservatives have gained control of more than a dozen. Winning back lost voters labours challenge. Damian grammaticas, bbc news. Our chief political correspondent Adam Fleming is in westminster. It seems to be from what we can discern, a lot of discussion, so take us through, what happens, the significance, all the rest of it. Good morning. When you are leader of the opposition, you dont have that many opportunities to show to the country what kind of Prime Minister you might be, and reshuffling your Shadow Cabinet, your top team of colleagues, is one of those big opportunities. Lets look at this in the round. On the positive side, you could call it, Keir Starmer is trying to set out a new vision of how he is going to run things with a new focus on the future of the world of work, Mental Health, Child Poverty, and attacking the governments claims that it is trying to level up the rest of the country. That is on the positive side. Unfortunately for Keir Starmer, the last 72 hours has been very negative. Notjust the Election Results in the english local councils, but the way this reshuffle was carried out, it was very chaotic and bad tempered, quite a long time. I suspect he not make all of the moves he wanted to make. It set up quite a strong tension between him and the Deputy Leader, Angela Rayner. Thats sort of slightly reminding me of those Big Labour Battles of the past, Gordon Brown versus tony blair, Miliband Versus miliband. That is the last 72 hours, it is what they do with the next three years which really matters. And later today we are expecting an announcement on the Prime Minister about the next easing of lockdown and there is a bit around what that could include, hopefully . Yes. And there is a bit around what that could include, hopefully . Could include, hopefully . Yes, it looks like step could include, hopefully . Yes, it looks like step three could include, hopefully . The re elected First Minister of scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, has told borisjohnson that another vote on Scottish Independence is inevitable. The Snp Leader also suggested that she could begin the process as early as next spring. Our political Correspondent Nick Eardley is outside holyrood this morning. But analyst out for you as well. In 2014, that is what happened. Alec salmond and the Uk Government with David Cameron got around a table, worked out what would happen and signed it off, so both sides accepted it. That isnt really happening this time because the result last week it means that Nicola Sturgeon is convinced there is a mandate for another referendum, she doesnt want to do it right away but wait until the Health Emergency has passed, and then get on with it. She said to borisjohnson last night, it was a question of when not if that happens. Borisjohnson is going to try and ignore it for and say, lets focus on the pandemic instead, including the economic recovery after it as well. Its interesting hearing some of the language from the Uk Government in the last few days. Jacob rees mogg was on the radio last night, the leader of the house of commons, saying that the last referendum settled the question for a while but inevitably not forever. There is a question over how this will play out in the next few years. Expect a big political battle and may be a legal one as well. A Rescue Operation has taken place to free a small whale that became stranded in the River Thames. Large crowds gathered at Richmond Lock, in south West London, to watch divers and Fire Crews who took four hours to move the Minke Whale to a safe location. Matt graveling reports. Trying to turn the tide. As the thames recedes, it leaves behind a baby Minke Whale, grounded in Richmond Lock. First responders hosed water over its weak body. Hours earlier, the whale had first been spotted a few miles upriver, near barnes bridge. But, by 5pm, it was stuck in richmond, sparking a big Emergency Response and an even bigger crowd. They dont rate its chances too much. I dont know what the tides like, but there is a lot of shallows, as well. The tide seems up at the moment, but, yes, it is probably going to be a sad outcome, i think. I hope hes going to be ok. Its heartbreaking if you think theyre in danger. But as day turned to night, the rescue continued. On land, the police controlled the crowds. In the water, the Fire Brigade and rnli looked after the whale. The first thing we knew was the Twitter Video of the whale coming up underneath i think it was barnes bridge. At the moment, our main priority, which is what we have just managed to do with the help of the rnli and the Fire Brigade, is to actually get it on to our rescue pontoons, which will keep it supported in the water and will get it off the ramp it has been lying on. It is just after 11pm and emergency teams below have been working tirelessly for about six hours to save this whales life. We can see that they have now wrapped it in an inflatable. They are trying to keep water going over its blowhole. We have also been told it is quite badly injured and hasnt been eating very well, so is very weak. And the teams below are also working remotely with a vet, who has been given up to date information. It will be this vet who will make a determination whether it is in the whales best interest to save its life. But as the tide rushed in, it was the rescuers lives in danger, so the decision was made to move the whale. They have taken it to an area where there is no tide, in a secure area, so they can work on the whale, make sure its calm and make sure that the best interests are taken for the animal. The whale left to the applause for all involved, but a decision is still to be made on whether it is healthy enough to be released back into the sea. And Matt Graveling is at Richmond Lock now. Good morning. What more can you tell us about the wail and how it is doing . I was here five hours ago with hundreds of other people, the police, rnli and the Fire Brigade, there last time i saw the whale, it was going this way along the river, wrapped in an inflatable which they had used to get it off of a Concrete Slope behind me, being pulled by a boat. It was being pulled away because the tide had come in and that puts the Rescue Efforts in a bad way. So it is being taken to allow the location, less tidal and less crowds, to another location. So yvette could have more time to assess the condition of the whale which was quite weak and had quite a few cuts on it. These things will be taken into consideration when yvette decides whether it is strong enough to be rereleased whether a vet decides whether it is strong enough to be rereleased back into the sea. Rail passengers are being warned to expect further disruption on long distance routes this week after 183 high speed trains were taken out of service for safety checks. All Hitachi 800 trains are being inspected after some were found to have cracks in the chassis during routine checks. Great western railway is advising people not to travel today and London North eastern railway says passengers should check their bookings before travelling. At the moment we have a band of Rain Moving northward through the North Sea, getting into the Northern Isles, could clip parts of the east coast, and we have showers in the west which will be drifting eastwards through the day but you know the drill with showers, some of us will see them and some will not. Pubs, cafes and restaurants in england could be serving customers inside from a week today, were expecting borisjohnson to confirm that later. Nina is in The Breakfast Arms to tell us more. I was literally sitting in a Pub Car Park yesterday, with the rain in my wine glass, i was thinking, please lift the restrictions next week this is a really big moment for struggling restaurants and bars and customers who want to drink and stay dry. Welcome to The Breakfast Arms the secret Bbc Boozer lots of socially distant tables to enjoy a drink in the sun, and dan on the bbq most weekends cooking up a storm. Trouble is lots of Hospitality Venues have had to deal with actual storms, and when you can only serve outside thats an issue. Today the pm is expected to confirm that in England Restaurants and bars can let six people sit and eat or drink inside from next monday. As long as they come from no more than two households. Great news for operators without outside space. Last week, the Bank Holiday Wash out meant Drinks Sales were 66 down on Pre Pandemic levels despite it being the first long weekend with pubs open for months. Also from monday, its hoped that outdoor bookings will be possible for much larger groups in england. Up to 30. Iains liverpool venues have already seen lots of interest. Its been huge, actually, for outside bookings in the large numbers, because if you think, we have had things like weddings, christenings, occasions, all sorts of things that had been cancelled, downscaled, put back. So people are very, very keen to get together in large groups. We are doing leaving dos that couldnt take place over the last year, also summer parties, welcome return, things like that. So i think its going to be, from a corporate side, we are seeing a lot of interest. These changes are just in england though. In Northern Ireland its hoped a meeting this week will confirm indoor hospitality resuming from the 24th may. Still a little way off. In wales, indoor hospitality will also open up on the 17th. Like england. But Operators Likejohn are still waiting to find out if the rule of six will apply, or if they can only serve smaller groups. His pub is on the border with england so its been a challenging time. Were three weeks behind with opening outside, and strangely enough, the weather for those three weeks was fantastic. And we opened last monday, and we had the coldest april since 1922 or something like that. And we had an ok week, we put marquees in the back, we got heaters, we got some lovely furniture. And then we had gales on monday and it blew it all down. Finally scotland. Again slightly different. There indoor hospitality is already open but no alcohol and theres a curfew. Thats expected to change on the 17th though. Indoor seating will be allowed for up to six people from three households until half ten in the Evening And Alcohol will now be available, but only in two hour slots. Operators have found the rules really tricky and are worried the next relaxing may not be enough to help them turn a profit again. Fingers crossed, this time, were going to get to 10 30pm closure, so again, very challenging to get everyone out of the building for 10 30pm, creating this Mass Exodus of people. But, you know, as an industry, weve constantly twisted and turned and made things happen so we will make this happen. But the good thing is that hopefully we get the alcohol back indoors as well. But with still have massive social distancing having to go with that. So we will have to wait and see how that goes, whether or not we can break even or not and start to pay back some of this incredible debt that weve all accumulated. The Hospitality Industry wrote to the government at the weekend warning it still needed more support. Quicker Loan Approvals and rent help. If you want to cross the border next week, follow the rules of the Home Nation. Have you booked for next week, who are you going to sit down with . And we would love your photos if you have been enduring outdoor hospitality with the rain, as i was yesterday. We have seen some good photos on Social Media, quite sunny. The Labour Reshuffle dominates most of the front pages this morning. The telegraph writes that Sir Keir was warned by allies of his predecessor, jeremy corbyn, that he would face a Leadership Challenge unless the party improved its performance. The guardian says Sir Keir s plan to demote Angela Rayner was derailed following a backlash from the deputy s supporters. The paper reports that his leadership has been plunged into crisis. The other main story dominating the papers is the expectation that social distancing rules in england will be relaxed further from next week. The mirrors front page reads darling hugs of may. Borisjohnson is due to announce that hugging Loved Ones will be allowed from 17 may. The Yorkshire Post leads with the news that Tracey Brabin has been voted in as the first Metro Mayor of West Yorkshire and the first woman to be elected as a Metro Mayor. The paper describes her appointment to the role as an historic moment. If youve ever watched Scarlett Moffatt on tv, from gogglebox to im a celebrity, youll know she has a sharp wit and a seemingly confident, Happy Go Lucky personality. But afterfinding fame, she endured unrelenting abuse from online trolls which eventually prompted her to call the samaritans for support. Now shes in a better place, scarlett wants to use her experience to help others and shes become an ambassador for the charity. Breakfast s Jayne Mccubbin went to meet her. Did you, are you allowed bums on bbc . Are you allowed bums on bbc . Look straight into the camera. I cant really do serious. Just do a smile. I think people would presume that im super outgoing, super bubbly, happy all of the time. You do want to portray yourself as this positive bubbly person because that makes other people happy, even if its just for that half an hour or hour. Because when youve felt sad yourself, you dont want anyone else to ever feel that way. And you have felt really sad . I have felt really, i have felt really sad. Just a few hours in Scarlett Moffatt s company and you realise shes warm, smart, kind, funny. Queen of the jungle is Scarlett Moffatt a personality which saw her crowned queen of thejungle in 2016. But that is when life started to unravel. When i came out of the jungle, i was on top of the world. I finally felt accepted. With all those positive things, came a lot of negativity, and before long, it was just consuming me, this sadness was just consuming every part of my body. Id get a lot of trolling about the way that i looked. Specifically about my weight, about being very slim. Then i got bigger, people didnt like that. People saying i should just. Go and kill yourself, i shouldnt have to look at you on my tv. And ijust thought, i cant do this any more. Thats when scarlett took action. She picked up the phone. She dialled 116123. Six numbers which didntjust change her life, but saved her life. Do you remember that first voice . Yeah, ido. Yeah. This is going to sound really dramatic, but i do feel like its just, like hope, thats what it sounded like, like hope. Just hearing somebody say, like, hello, samaritans. Whats wrong . I felt really sad. I spoke to samaritans, i got help from my gp, and now im in such a good place with my little dog and my boyfriend and my friends and family, and ijust love life. Feel like im the Old Scarlett again, the 18 year Old Scarlett that was carefree. I feel like im that girl again. Youre back. Im back. Here they are, Danny And Lisa two people whose mental Health Journey also led them to samaritans. My name is Lisa Nealon and i hit a real low In My Life when my marriage broke down. I was a single parent, and sadly, because of a stammer, i found that i couldnt communicate. Im danny, im 28 years old, and i was a low ebb. I didnt want to go out and do the things i enjoyed. I found myself staying in bed quite often, just not wanting to get up. Which was affecting my personal life and working life as well. It was just a very, very dark time. While scarlett reached out by phone, Lisa And Danny sought help by e mail. I remember ringing, and just hearing this little voice of hope on the other end of the phone and going, help us. Thats literally, ijust remember going, help us. I remember giving a fake name, because i didnt dare say my name. And then just for the first time ever, having a decent nights sleep. Just relief, i think, isnt it . Just to have that load lifted. And, like, the Power Ofjust that Human Connection when youre at your lowest is so strong, isnt it . I think thats how i felt, just relief. Have either of you still got that first e mail, that first. Yeah, definitely. Heres the first one that i sent, was on 17th December 2018, i the first line i can see says, i hi, im having a really tough time at the moment. | like you said about the relief, | getting that off your shoulders and just have someone on the other end who can listen, whereas obviously, sometimes its a little bit more difficult to speak. To family, friends. Actually, when i told my mum and dad, ive spoken to samaritans, they were like, why didnt you come to us . But for me it was just like, it was just being a pure stranger, i think Theres Something really lovely about them not knowing anything about you and just being like, this is the issue. One Phone Call, one e mail, that was all it took to put them on a road to recovery. Today lisa is a volunteer with samaritans. And scarlett has become an unofficial ambassador. An official ambassador. Like, weve all been in such a rubbish place, and, like, probably at the time felt like there was no escape but we knew we wanted to escape it. And weve done that. With the help of samaritans, family and friends are important but we have done that. We are little legends. Everyone whos rang samaritans is a little legend, arent they . I dont know what i would have done if i didnt call samaritans. Thank you. That was the first step of myjourney of feeling better. I realised, no, youre wonderful just being you, scarlett. Thats my telling off face ive never been in a place where i wanted to project that much hate onto someone. So whenever i do get trolled really badly, i send them a private message, and ill give them the number for samaritans. Ill say, are you ok . Call this number if you need help. And i would say 99 of the time, they apologise and they say, yeah, i will. Our thanks to Scarlett Moffatt for speaking so openly to Jayne Mccubbin there. And if youve been affected by any of the issues raised in that interview, you can find details of organisations offering Help And Support on the bbc actionline website. Im back with the latest from the Bbc London Newsroom in half an hour. Hello, this is breakfast with Dan Walker and louise minchin. Coming up on the programme this morning. The race to embrace hugging people from outside your Household Bubble is back on the cards in england from next week. Well hear what the experts have to say. From a small scratch to a big idea. May parsons was the Nursing Matron who delivered the firstjab of the Vaccine Roll out in december. Now shes fronting a campaign for a special day on which we can all thank our own personal pandemic heroes. We we are old, we are young. And Michael Ball is bouncing back from covid by releasing a new album and returning to an old West End role. Hell tell us all about it at around ten to nine. Lets turn to one of the big stories of the day that wevejust mentioned hugging. From monday of next week in England Youll be allowed to hug people from outside your household for the first time in 15 months. Borisjohnson is expected to confirm that later today when he announces the next stage of Lockdown Easing will go ahead as planned. We can speak now to one of our regular gps. Nighat arif is in chesham. Lovely to see you. Plug your thoughts . I lovely to see you. Plug your thoughts . Lovely to see you. Plug your thoughts . Lovely to see you. Plug your thothts . ,. ,. ,. , thoughts . I am a huge fan of hugs and i have said thoughts . I am a huge fan of hugs and i have said i thoughts . I am a huge fan of hugs and i have said i cannot thoughts . I am a huge fan of hugs and i have said i cannot wait thoughts . I am a huge fan of hugs and i have said i cannot wait untill and i have said i cannot wait until we start hugging again. We are used to hugging nearest and dearest and as parents, I Hug my boys all the time and i cannot wait to hug my parents i have not seen for a while. When we hug Each Other we release an amazing hormone sometimes known as the bonding hormone. We know under lockdown, and the fact we have been distant, we had to do physical distancing, that is what we have missed, that touch that we need. When i see a patient in my surgery and giving them devastating news, before the pandemic, i would hug them because you cannot help but get involved. The fact that especially our elderly under lockdown, they have been really restricted to the impact on their Mental Health. We know loneliness has been affected. This is great, but i would then, and this will not make me popular, i am really sorry, say to people to be cautious. Because we are getting close with Each Other, and we know the virus lives in this area and we can pass it through breathing and it is in our droplets. If you are going to be hugging Each Other, make sure it is not to everybody. Make sure you are trying to practise physical distancing because we need to be really cautious. These are tiny steps in the Vaccination Programme and it makes a huge difference. If you are going to be hugging someone who is vulnerable, make sure that may be wearing a mask. We will have to see how it goes. This is new territory and we are going to make sure we owe keeping a handle on the virus, but i am excited. I have a list of people i am going to be hugging and louise you are one of them when i see you. Hugging and louise you are one of them when i see you. Thank you, i shau them when i see you. Thank you, i shall look them when i see you. Thank you, i shall look forward them when i see you. Thank you, i shall look forward to them when i see you. Thank you, i shall look forward to it. Shall look forward to it. 15 months, that is how long it has been. It is a serious message, we need to hug with caution. That is what the scientists are saying because although we have made these amazing steps, it is because we have been so great, the british public have been phenomenal in the way they have been phenomenal in the way they have responded to every restriction we have put on them, and the same needs to happen when we come out. We needs to happen when we come out. We need to do it cautiously, follow the rules, look at the viral load in communities. We know we have variants we need to think about. Although the Vaccination Programme is fantastic. 50 Million doses have been given and we have vaccinated all the shielded and vulnerable groups, the ones we were protecting so we do not get really sick and End P so we do not get really sick and end up in hospital. It is making sure we are Keeping Tabs on that. We do not have the data yet. That is the honest truth. We do not have the data with what the world will look like with vaccines in play when we come out of lockdown and what the virus will be like in communities afterwards. The title was still up for grabs on the final day, but two goals from Fran Kirby in a 5 0 win over reading, ended any Hopes Manchester City had of pipping them to it. They lost just one League Game all season. And after these celebrations, they go again, and with the League Cup in the bag, they could win two more trophies with the Champions League final and Fa Cup to come. Myjob has always been to put them into the position where they can compete for these things. So as i always say to them, when theyre sat grey and old, it is going to be these things they talk about. Because, you know, the next two, theyre against two very good teams. You Cant Worry about Manchester City, really, but you want them to have to win it, i guess, ratherthan because you havent won a game . What is going on . Good morning. We have sunshine and showers much of this week but one thing you will notice is it will not be as cold by night. These are the latest temperatures. We are looking at temperatures. We are looking at temperatures roughly between 9 11. Low pressure, so a lot of sunshine and showers. Some of the showers are likely to be heavy and thundery as we go through the week. Overnight we have had a band of rain pushing north, heading to aberdeen and the Northern Isles. We have showers in the west and those will be drifting eastwards through the course of the day. Between them, sunny skies, some of the showers could be heavy and thundery. We are looking at blustery winds around the showers, particularly in england and wales. The average Wind Speed will not be all that. Fairly low. Gusts could be p all that. Fairly low. Gusts could be up to 40 mph. Later it should dry in East Anglia and the South East and the temperature range, 9 17. Yesterday in parts of suffolk we reached 22. 5 celsius, a temperature we have not seen since march. Overnight, still some showers around. Coming in across Northern Ireland and merging to give longer spells of rain as they push into western scotland. And we still have rain in the far north of scotland but no frost. Temperatures falling between 6 7 and 8 9. Tomorrow, low pressure, centred just in the atlantic. We still have showers in scotland heading northwards. After a dry and sunny start, showers will get going, coming in from the South West. Heading into the midlands and pushing eastwards. Like today, some will be heavy and you might have thunder and hail. Between them, something drier and brighter. Perhaps driest likely to be in Northern Ireland and south East England. As we go further through the week, still some showers around. Coming in across the South West again. Unsettled with sunshine and showers through the week and temperatures ten in the north, 16 in the south. Temperatures closer to where they should be at this stage but just above or just where they should be at this Stage Butjust above orjust below where they should be at this stage but just above or just below for some. Thanks. A matter of when . Not if. Thats how Nicola Sturgeon has described the chances of a second Independence Referendum for scotland after her Partys Victory in the holyrood election. The snp gained three extra seats for a total of 64 just one short of an outright majority. One of those gains was ayr. Our Scotland Correspondent Lorna Gordon has been there to find out what voters want to see next. They are hunting for treasure on the Windswept Beach in ayr. Bobby, what did you get today . So far ive got two pennies, a 5p, a secret message in a little bottle. This election sends a message, says Nicola Sturgeon, that scotland has a mandate for a second Independence Referendum. David agrees. If there was an Independence Referendum tomorrow, id be very much for being independent and being in charge of our own destiny. So you would vote yes if there were a referendum tomorrow. And you would vote . Im on the fence at the moment. Im on the fence. Do you guys, when you are searching through the sand here on ayr beach, ever discuss politics . Not generally, no. Its like how many ring pulls did you find . How many Bottle Caps did you find . Ayr saw one of the most dramatic results in this election, with the Seat Switching from the conservatives to the snp, who won by 170 votes. These swimmers staying cheerful, even though they are disappointed. Well, im a tory voter, so im not too happy about the snp being back in. So im not very happy. However, youve got to go with the majority. Nicola sturgeon says she wants to be the First Minister to lead scotland to independence. No. Personally, we wouldnt survive. So with the question of scotlands feature taking off again, future taking off again, is there more to politics here than the constitution . Is scotland like a single Issue Country now . I dont know if it is. We spoke about this. I think when you look at some of the feedback, its been you either voted snp for independence, or you voted with another party for the union. And i voted labour. Labour is my preference, but would still be in favour of independence. At the towns sunday market, among some, passions are running high. I just want to show my badge. Thats all i need to say. I wear it all the time and have worn it and i will wear it for ever more until we get independence. While for others there is a weary resignation about what the next few years might hold. I think its just going to overshadow everything else, but what can we do . Its another five years of it. That will be nearly two decades, wont it . Just wait and see. What is this . A babys bottle. When is that from . Probably 19305, 60s. It is thoughts about the future that are the deciding factor for this pro independence voter. I want it for my grandchildren. Its not for me, is my grandkids. Whys that . Well, lets put it this way. Would you be happy to let the woman next door to you to hold the Purse Strings . For everyone in favour of independence here, there is Someone Else who wants the union to remain. And how do you feel about the idea of another referendum . It makes me nervous. It really does make me nervous. And the fact that i just, personally, i wouldnt want to be away from the rest of great britain. I think we are better off staying united. What lies ahead is far from clear. The First Minister insists the question of a referendum is now a matter of when, not if. Lorna gordon, bbc news, ayr. All the details coming up. Sorry, how rude of me, louise any news on the reshuffle . Once Part Ofjeremy corbyns team, she has been moved to the lower Profile Role of Party Chair. It was sir kier s difficulty shifting sharing the old Party Chair, his deputy Angela Rayner, that complicated this reshuffle. Her allies say she has emerged strengthened with a new role to find ways to win back voters lost to the conservatives. Angela rayner tweeted. Labours new Shadow Chancellor is Rachel Reeves. There was basically a 24 hour long tussle between him and his deputy Angela Rayner, where she was removed from onejob rayner, where she was removed from one job but there was a big discussion over what newjob to put her in and she has ended up with something like four differentjobs, and in much, much higher profile. I wonder if in the long term that will set up some tension between the two top figures, which, lets be honest, is something we are used to in labour politics over the last few decades. Will people see Keir Starmer as somebody who has not done well in the english Local Authority elections even though labour did well in the mayoral elections, and will they now see somebody who cannot quite do what he wants to do with his own colleagues . Also reading through the details of the reshuffle, you can start to see what Keir Starmer is going to do in this next phase of his leadership. There is a Big Focus on The Future Of Work and what employment is like in the future, and he has given high profile newjobs to People Looking at Child Poverty and Mental Health. One of the Big Focus will be trying to challenge the government claims that it to challenge the government claims thatitis to challenge the government claims that it is levelling up the country, that it is levelling up the country, that will be one of the jobs for Rachel Reeves, the new Shadow Chancellor, who has quite a reputation as a campaigner and a Taxation And Someone who is good at making headlines. Rescue teams are searching the thames for a whale which became stranded in the River Thames. Specialist divers rescued the young Minke Whale from Richmond Lock but it then came loose while being taken to a safe location. Thats right, good morning. This morning there is cloud and showers around, you can see in argyll and bute, low cloud and the tops of the hills, and the forecast for this week, it is sunshine and showers. Today the showers will be blustery. We already have them across scotland, Northern Ireland, wales, central and Southern England. They will work it through the day, as the rain we have in East Anglia moves up the North Sea coastline. Showers continue across Northern Ireland in North West england, north East England in the morning relatively dry, but also showers across scotland. As we had on through the day, they move from the west to the east, they do not dry up in the west but they developed a bit further east as well. The rain carries on to the Northern Isles. Blustery conditions, it will be like that across england and wales, these other Wind Gusts we are looking roughly 40 miles an hour or so. Temperatures to date ranging from nine in lerwick to 16 or 17 in East Anglia. This evening and overnight, showers faded but new ones come in across Northern Ireland and southern and western scotland, some will be heavy. Rain in the far north of scotland. Temperature wise, not expecting a frost. We havent had that for a while but we are not expecting faster this week. Tomorrow will be dry and bright but showers getting going, spreading North East through the day. Tomorrows highs, similar to today, 11 to 17 degrees. Last week on breakfast, in the run up to the local elections, we were joined by the Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer, who pledged to take responsibility if his party fared badly in the elections. Last night he carried out a reshuffle of his top team. Lets discuss it with the political editor of the new statesman, stephen bush. Good morning, thank you for being with us this morning. We have spoken to our political correspondent adam today, his assessment is that it shows that Sir Keir Starmer is not in complete control of the Labour Party and his top team, how do you feel about it . I party and his top team, how do you feel about it . Feel about it . I think that assessment feel about it . I think that assessment would feel about it . I think that assessment would be feel about it . I think that L Assessment would be very feel about it . I think that assessment would be very hard to dispute. I think the one more troubling thing for labour is, its not totally clear what the Labour Party and Keir Starmer s complete control would look like. Most after a reshuffle, we gain an insight into the politics of the person and what their objectives are. I have been hearing most from Labour Mps since the reshuffle, they dont understand the reshuffle, they dont understand the logic of it and the one thing they are united on is the belief that Keir Starmer has revealed he does not actually have any politics. In terms. I know you are not going to give names away, so whats their point with regards to that . So there is not principle there . Is not principle there . Usually what haiens is not principle there . Usually what happens when is not principle there . Usually what happens when a is not principle there . Usually what happens when a leader is not principle there . Usually what happens when a leader does is not principle there . Usually what happens when a leader does a happens when a leader does a reshuffle is, they bring their own allies into key positions, and get rid of people who for one reason or another do not seem to be politically aligned with the project overall. But you cant really tell anything about Keir Starmer s politics from the people he has promoted. On the one hand, he seems to have moved towards part of the labours left and on the other hand, part of its right. So people are complex, they are like, what is the plan, stan . It had left Labour Mps perplexed, ratherthan plan, stan . It had left Labour Mps perplexed, rather than going, where the principles, they dont understand the people he has brought in and how that references the stuff that Keir Starmer has been saying to them for years about who he is and what it stands for. So them for years about who he is and what it stands for. What it stands for. So what does that leave what it stands for. So what does that leave keir what it stands for. So what does that leave Keir Starmers what it stands for. So what does i that leave Keir Starmers position . It has weakened his authority. At the start of this process, Keir Starmers team were briefing that they had demoted Angela Rayner from they had demoted Angela Rayner from the role of Party Chair, a nebulous position which means that you can be across the whole of the Policy Piece if you want to, but you dont have to be tied down to very much. This morning they are insisting that they always wanted to give her a big job, and that big job is Shadow Chancellor for the and that big job is Shadow Chancellorfor the duchy and that big job is Shadow Chancellor for the duchy of lancaster, which is Michael Gove s job, a big job lancaster, which is Michael Gove s job, a bigjob right lancaster, which is Michael Gove s job, a big job right across the face of government. But she has essentially the same job, but before it could shrink unfit to lead as desire and now she gets decide before it could shrink and fit to the Leaders Desire but now she gets to decide what she does so its hard to decide what she does so its hard to see how Keir Starmer has come out of this well. 50 to see how Keir Starmer has come out of this well of this well. So does the show that an i ela of this well. So does the show that Angela Rayner of this well. So does the show that Angela Rayner has of this well. So does the show that Angela Rayner has some of this well. So does the show that i Angela Rayner has some highprofile Angela Rayner has some high Profile Support in the party . Yes. Angela rayner has some highProfile Support in the party . Support in the party . Yes, but we knew that already, support in the party . Yes, but we knew that already, she support in the party . Yes, but we knew that already, she was support in the party . Yes, but we knew that already, she was the I Support in the party . Yes, but we i knew that already, she was the first choice of the majority of mps in the parliamentary Labour Party. One of the things which has been quite mystifying in the last 48 hours is the base of support is broadly the same. There are about ten mps to the right of the party who backed Keir Starmer and not Angela Rayner and about ten mps on the left who backed Angela Rayner and not Keir Starmer, but neither of those groups have any particular affection. What has left at the Keir Starmer supporters perplexed is, they have not really understood why the leader has decided that the Deputy Leader, from their perspective they had the same politics and worked quite well, was part of the problem at all. That is the other big problem, that the Core Base of Keir Starmers project in the parliamentary party, the main question they are asking is, i dont understand what is going on. It will understand what is going on. It will be interesting understand what is going on. It will be interesting to understand what is going on. It will be interesting to see understand what is going on. It will be interesting to see how understand what is going on. It will be interesting to see how that reflects on the electorate. We saw what happened in hartlepool over the weekend, and after the success of Tracey Brabin getting the mayoral role in West Yorkshire, Batley And Spain is available for a By Election, so what pressure will that put Keir Starmer under . That byelection, so what pressure will that put Keir Starmer under . That is now ioiin that put Keir Starmer under . That is now going to that put Keir Starmer under . That is now going to be that put Keir Starmer under . That is now going to be a that put Keir Starmer under . That is now going to be a huge that put Keir Starmer under . That is now going to be a huge moment that put Keir Starmer under . That is now going to be a huge moment in i that put Keir Starmer under . That is i now going to be a huge moment in the life of Keir Starmers Labour Party. It is a rather easier By Election for labour to win but the Flip Side is one of the reasons that the government did so well in these elections is we are all being able to enjoy to go outside and have a meal cooked with someone other than themselves, and the earliest they can hold the By Election is the week before the 21st ofjune, the day we get all of our freedoms back. Even though it is a seat which is on paper more favourable than hartlepool to labour, the political circumstances might be very difficult for labour. If they were to lose the By Election after a reshuffle which has left Keir Starmers base of support in the parliamentary party smaller rather than larger, it could get quite a for him. It could get quite awkward for him. We will be speaking to shabana my mood, shabana mahmood, who is replacing Angela Rayner as the policy coordinator, later on. Were going to show you some falcons now. This is a live stream of a nest in the centre of nottingham. Its been available online for years but the audience has grown rapidly in recent weeks and the website has now had nearly A Million views. Then she disappeared and was not seen on camera and then we got reports of a dead peregrine in the city centre. It looks like that was her. A couple of days later we had a new peregrine spotted on camera and within days, the new peregrine was mating, there was a short courtship with our resident male, archie. And then in early april, she laid her own eggs. So we have four eggs in the nest, two from each female, and it has sent the viewers of the scale. Joining us now is the minister for Mental Health, nadine dorries. So many people talking about the possibility we will be allowed to hug in the next easing of lockdown. Do you welcome that . I do, indeed. I think everybody should listen to the prime Ministers Announcement and Press Conference today when he sets out the next stages of the Road Mac and easing. It is important to say the reason why this country is leading the world on covid recovery is because we have adhered to the restrictions and played our part in the rules. It is important we continue to do that going forward. The Prime Minister will make an announcement. We are looking forward to the next stage of the Road Map being eased but caution is the word moving forward. We are in a good place, but the data is in a good place, but we are aware of those variants and moving forward, the situation has to be one of caution because we do not ever want to be back where we have been. We hope by leading the world in the way we are is because everybody has played their part. People have followed the rules and have been cautious, people have been aware of the virus and how it is transmitted and we need to ensure moving forward, we keep that caution in mind, whilst also looking forward to hugging relatives and family, to having people back inside our homes, opening up hospitality and shops and all the things we love about our life. The Prime Minister will set out where we are going next, but caution, it over Archers Everything we do and think about in terms of easing the Road Map. We have variants of concern on one hand but on the other hand we have capacity to lateral Flow Everybody in the uk and to surge test in local areas when we see variants of concern and where we know problems might be rising. We have that in our armoury that we did not have before, but we need to be cautious. I am incredibly aware everybody wants to get together, people want to hug Each Other and entertain in their own homes. We all want to do that. We understand that. That is why we have a Road Map that people can follow and that is why we can see those steps clearly in front of us. We will be getting there, moving along the Road Map. The Prime Minister will announce this afternoon the next stage but the important thing is we are all aware that as we move into each step of easement, there may be an increase in the variants or in the virus. I said to you a second ago the uk is leading the world, that is all parts of the uk. What we should be doing is focusing on the recovery, focusing on the nhs waiting lists and making sure the 10,000 backlog, those people get the treatment they need, and getting children the education they need and sorting out the backlog in courts and making sure people getjustice. Jobs, jobs, jobs, that is what we need to be focused on. The recovery is not about legislating for another divisive, expensive referendum. It is not on our radar. All we are focused on as a government and frankly all that scotland should be focused on is recovery from the pandemic. We are still in the Tail End of the pandemic in the uk. Globally, the world is still in the grips of this pandemic. We are not out of the woods and we should not be talking about a referendum, we should be talking about moving forward as a nation, as a uk and recovering out of the pandemic, not a referendum. Without the right victories, in the past couple of months, where we have had the opportunity to give ourselves a better chance of survival, we have not taken that. The inevitable has happened. We have to take it on the chin and we have to take it on the chin and we have to look at the season and say to ourselves we have not been quite good enough. I wondered if she was quick to fish it out. Why do you not gettable and tested in the Manchester Ship Canal . Heres carol with the weather. A mixed bag this morning. Good morning. That is a good way of describing it and this week we are looking at sunshine and showers, blustery winds at times but the wind easing towards the end of the week. Something you have noticed if you have an allergy to Tree Pollen is it is high in eastern, central and Southern England today. It is still Tree Pollen but we are heading towards the Grass Pollen Season from mid may. Showers in the North And West and rain coming up from the south, clipping East Anglia and now moving northwards. It may clip parts of yorkshire and aberdeenshire before it arrives in the Northern Isles later. A lot of showers, some travelling eastwards through the day and some developing in the east and in between some sunshine. Drying up later in parts of the South East and south. Gusty winds in england and wales, as much as 40 mph. You will notice that. Temperatures 9 17. Roughly where they should be at this stage in may. Overnight we lose some of the showers but the showers in northern Ireland Clump together and give heavier rain and as they push out of Northern Ireland and in through central and western scotland. Temperatures tonight, quite mild. No frost. 7 10 as the overnight low. Low pressure drives the Weather Tomorrow and the air around this move is anticlockwise, so showers swirling around it and coming in across the South West and moving North Eastwards through the day. Some of those will be heavy and potentially thundery. You can see that we are in the milder conditions as represented by the yellows. Tuesday, many starting on a dry and sunny note. Some showers and then they get going coming through the southwest and wales pushing North Eastwards. Some heavy and thundery, may be the chance of hail. Rain in the far north of scotland. Temperatures in lerwick, 11, liverpool, 16, and towards london, 16 degrees. Tuesday into wednesday, you can see we have a lot of showers around. We will be frost free again and on wednesday itself, we continue with showers but have more persistent rain from the South West. That will be getting into parts of wales towards dorset through the day. A lot of us will miss this and stay dry. Temperatures ten in the north, 1516 stay dry. Temperatures ten in the north, 15 16 further south. Low pressure remains in charge of the weather in the ensuing days from thursday into monday. Still looking at sunshine and showers but, towards the end of the week, you will find it will not be as windy, and if you are wondering about getting plants outside, this week it looks like it will be frost free. It does not guarantee next week will be and that thing, never cast a clout till may is out. I do not know that old saying, but now i do. It requires a scottish accent as well. Lets return now to a story which many people were following overnight, the attempts to rescue a young whale which was stranded in the River Thames. It was freed from Richmond Lock, in south West London, but then lost in the river while it was being moved to a safer area. Liz sandeman is from the Dolphin And Whale charity, marine connection. There could be, it is the decision of the vet. It is not taken lightly but we have to think of the welfare of the animal. It is not a case of lets put the animal on a pontoon and take it back out to sea. When it is a young animal. It would basically be like popping it back out to sea and it would not know how to feed. A reshuffle of labours top team, as Sir Keir Starmer responds to the partys poor showing in the english elections. Hugs and overnight stays are expected to be allowed again from next week, as the Prime Minister prepares to set out further easing of restrictions in england. And a huge step forward for hospitality . The industrys hoping for confirmation they can serve customers indoors, and larger groups outside from a week today. A whale that was stranded overnight in the River Thames, has escaped from rescuers as they tried to move it to safety. Tv Presenter Scarlett Moffatt tells us about the pain of being tormented by online trolls and how a desperate call to the samaritans saved her life. A lot of negativity. And before long, it was just consuming me, this sadness was just consuming every part of my body. This morning we are looking at sunshine and showers, gusty winds across parts of england and wales, but milder than it has been for many of us. All of the details coming up. Its monday the 10th of may. Our top story. The Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has responded to a poor set of Election Results with a Shadow Cabinet re shuffle. Lets have a look at some of the changes. Angela rayner, the Deputy Leader, was sacked from her role as Party Chair on saturday, before being handed more senior roles last night. Another high Profile Dismissal was Anneliese Dodds, who lost herjob as Shadow Chancellor. She takes up the position of Party Chair in place of Angela Rayner. Ms dodds was replaced as Shadow Chancellor by Rachel Reeves. And Wes Streeting, considered to be a strong media performer, was promoted to the Shadow Cabinet, in charge of the Child Poverty brief. Lets talk more about this with our chief political correspondent, Adam Fleming, whos in westminster. He knows everything about it these discussions went on long into the hours of the night, didnt they . Yes, it was quite a long process and probably a bit more harder than Keir Starmer would have sounded if he had 100 authority over his party. This is one of the points where the leader of the opposition can show what kind of Prime Minister they would be when it comes to the management of their Shadow Cabinet. And colleagues. One positive way of looking at it, we have some clues about where Keir Starmer is going to 90, about where Keir Starmer is going to go, lots of stuff and his new Shadow Cabinet about The Future Of Work and employment, they have beefed up the portfolio when it comes to Mental Health and Child Poverty. And we are going to see a lot more of Angela Rayner, the Deputy Leader, who now has something like four different jobs given to her. Its also that the relationship between Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner which proved to be one of the tricky point of the reshuffle and wait 24 hours because they were having a bit of a disagreement, in fact, because they were having a bit of a disagreement, infact, quite because they were having a bit of a disagreement, in fact, quite a because they were having a bit of a disagreement, infact, quite a big disagreement, infact, quite a big disagreement, judging by the breathing going on. Does that partnership in between Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner, could it be like the good years of the blair brown partnership where they got on well and did good things, all the bad years where they ended up at Each Other s throats all the time . Blew; others throats all the time . Very interesting others throats all the time . Very interesting. The others throats all the time . Very interesting. The prime others throats all the time . You will be able to have six people indoors, whether thatis to have six people indoors, whether that is a house or a pub, or going to the cinema or hotel. A whale that was rescued after it became stranded in the River Thames in south West London has escaped as attempts were made to move it to safety. If youve ever watched Scarlett Moffatt on tv, from gogglebox to im a celebrity, youll know she has a sharp wit and a seemingly confident, Happy Go Lucky personality. But afterfinding fame, she endured unrelenting abuse from online trolls, which eventually prompted her to call the samaritans for support. Yeah, ido. When you got through . This is going to sound really dramatic, but you do feel like its just, like hope, thats what it sounded like, like hope. My name is Lisa Nealan and i hit a real low In My Life when my marriage broke down. I was a single parent, and sadly, because of a stammer, i found that i couldnt communicate. Im danny, im 28 years old, and i was at a low ebb. And scarlett has become an official ambassador. Ill say, are you 0k . Call this number if you need help. And i would say 99 of the time, they apologise and they say, yeah, i will. Our thanks to Scarlett Moffatt for speaking so openly to Jayne Mccubbin there. There is an important thing in the Way L they need help . There is an i important thing in the way that they need help . There is an important thing in the way that we work as the samaritans. A couple of things that you need to remember. We never talk about ourselves. So that alleviates that, and the reason we do not do that is because then we can focus on the caller, its not about us, its about the caller. It gives them the space to talk about their feelings. Gives them the space to talk about theirfeelings. The gives them the space to talk about their feelings. The second thing is we do not give advice. We rely on the responsible itty of the caller themselves to find their way through, hopefully we can give them more clarity and listening to them, so they will find their own way through. When you take any call, you look and it is a blank canvas. We are there to listen, we asked questions here and there, primarily, to give people a space that they can talk. And we neverjudge, we dont make anyjudgment in the calls we take. Many people when they phone the first time will say things like, i know you have got more important things to deal with than this. We dont look at it like that because every call to us is important. Every call has its own merit and struggles, and we are there for everyone who needs to call. We are notjust everyone who needs to call. We are not just that a suicidal callers, that has been a misconception, we are there for everyone who is struggling. And if youve been affected by any of the issues raised in that interview, you can find details of organisations offering Help And Support on the bbc actionline website. A matter of when, not if. Thats how Nicola Sturgeon has described the chances of a second Independence Referendum for scotland after her Partys Victory in the holyrood election. The snp gained three extra seats for a total of 64, just one short of an outright majority. So with the question of scotlands future taking off again, is there more to politics here than the constitution . Its not for me, its my grandkids. That is a picture of what is happening in one place in scotland. Time now to get the news, Travel And Weather where you are. Good morning from bbc london, im asad ahmad. Despite significant support for the conservatives in the election, london has re elected labours Sadiq Khan for mayor of london. But there are now calls for an investigation into why Tens Of Thousands of votes were rejected and thereby not counted. Its because many people apparently accidentally voted twice in the first Preference Column for mayor. It would not have changed the result, but Theres Concern over londoners not having their democratic vote counted. Finally, kew Bridge Road is partly blocked between the Chiswick Roundabout and Kew Bridge for water works. Now the weather with kate. Good morning. It is a mild start this morning. Low pressure is still in charge of our weather today. We should still see some sunshine. You can see the isobars still fairly close together, so it is still going to be quite a breezy day. A South Westerly wind. Showers in the morning becoming fewer and further between this afternoon, so we should see some sunshine. Temperatures today not as warm as yesterday, 16 17c, which is where they should be at this point in the year. Overnight, we will see clear spells. A little bit of patchy cloud. The wind will fall a little lighter overnight. Minimum temperatures still mild, between 6 9c. Tomorrow, a mixture of sunshine and showers. Low pressure still in charge. But we still have this slightly milder air, especially compared to last week. So the temperatures still where they should be for the time of Year And Night time temperatures are staying above zero. Theres more on the stranded whale in richmond on our website and Social Media platforms. Hello, this is breakfast with Dan Walker and louise minchin. Our top Story Today is the labour Shadow Cabinet reshuffle, which followed a poor set of Election Results. One of the results is that the Deputy Leader Angela Rayner is no longer the national campaign co ordinator. Shabana mahmood takes over that role and shejoins us now from birmingham. A lot of people have their opinion on what happened to the Labour Party, how do you reflect at the start of the new week . Party, how do you reflect at the start of the new week . There is no doubting it has been a difficult few| doubting it has been a difficult few days for the Labour Party, but we have to move forward. Keir starmer has appointed a new team and had a mixture of roles he wanted to try to use everybody s talents differently across the Shadow Cabinet and it is ourjob to look forward. The results come with calm reflection, provide a mixed picture and speak to the huge challenge we have, because we have gone backwards in some places. Hartlepool being the most difficult result we had on thursday night. Also, we have made progress elsewhere, particularly the win in the west of england. And the good set of results in wales. A lotto consider and myjob will be to work out lessons we have to learn in terms of elections, campaigning, from the places we have lost and where we have a lot of work to do to earn the trust of voters again and from the places we are making progress to see what it is we are able to do to persuade voters to give us their vote and how we earn their trust and squaring the circle is the task we have to get behind and work with Keir Starmer to deliver a platform for the next general election. It deliver a platform for the next general election. Deliver a platform for the next general election. It seems Angela Ra Ner general election. It seems Angela Rayner was general election. What do you think made Angela Rayner, in the eyes of Keir Starmer, the problem . I eyes of Keir Starmer, the problem . I do not think it is a question of anybody being the problem. I am looking forward when no longer fasting for ramadan to break out the popcorn and watch angela take on Michael Gove it is important breed. She has an excellent Skill Set and it should be in the service of our public platform and i am pleased to see her get that platform and she will take on one of the most senior in government, who is responsible for vast areas of administration of the government and she will take that on, which is an excellent role and i am looking forward to notjust working with her but watching her shine, as i am sure she will in that job. What anybody else thinks does not matter. He appointed his team as he has the right to do and it is the job of all of us to work together to find a way to build a winning Voter Coalition that can span across the country and speak to people with a different cultural outlook in life and find a way to win in the traditional heartlands again and also retain voters currently voting for us. It is a difficultjob we have to do together and he has the team he wants to help him do that. You say it does not wants to help him do that. You say it does not matter wants to help him do that. You say it does not matter what wants to help him do that. You say it does not matter what anyone wants to help him do that. You say. The day, the party has to focus not on what political commentators say but what the public are saying and we have to immerse ourselves in communities we represent and want to represent again and to earn their trust. This has to be a future focus, outward looking public facing operation, which is what Keir Starmer has tasked us with. The commentators will commentate. We should focus on the task in hand. The party, it is to re immerse ourselves in communities, that is ourselves in communities, that is ourjob and the only thing we should focus on. To focus on those real issues, we have spoken to a focus on. To focus on those real issues, we have spoken to a lot| focus on. To focus on those real. Issues, we have spoken to a lot of Labour Mps and a lot of them have attacked the government over being out of touch, over personal decisions the Prime Minister has made. The liberal Democrat Leader recently said if the redecoration of the flat, eventually those investigations find out the Prime Minister has misled people, he should resign. These are strong accusations against the Prime Minister your party has made, and yet, in some of the most deprived areas of england, people are voting for the conservative party rather than the Labour Party. For the conservative party rather than the Labour Party. Calling out and holding than the Labour Party. Calling out and holding to than the Labour Party. Calling out and holding to account than the Labour Party. Calling out and holding to account the and holding to account the government of the day as part of the job of the opposition and the lesson is that alone is not enough to be persuasive to voters that we can earn their trust. And their votes again and represent them again in parliament. I do not think the fact it has not led to victories in all parts of the country that were up for election is a reason to let the government off the hook on proper questions for which they should be held accountable. You cannotjust build your Election Strategy around those questions and we have to continue to prosecute the case against the government and hold them to account. I think potential lawbreaking on issues such as the decoration of the flat, there are questions to answer but that on its own will not and asked the trust. It points out something wrong with the government but does not say positively, here is the reason you should vote for us. In wales, west of england, West Yorkshire, we have put together a persuasive platform to earn the trust of voters and to win and in the case of wales to hold onto power and be in a stronger position. We have to learn the lessons from places where we have persuaded voters and earned their trust. And also learn lessons from places where we are losing and from which we could carry on going backwards. It will require a full response across the whole of the party and movement. You mentioned ositive party and movement. You mentioned positive Noises Party and movement. You mentioned positive noises in party and movement. You mentioned positive noises in west party and movement. You mentioned positive noises in West Yorkshire. Positive noises in West Yorkshire. There will be a By Election there after Tracy Brabin was voted as the mayor of West Yorkshire. So that will be available and you talked about hartlepool and the embarrassment you face. How big a Testis Embarrassment you face. How big a test is the By Election in batley . It will no doubt be a big test, an important By Election. We have won West Yorkshire and it is the basis on which we have to build. I am in no doubt to the work to be done and part of my role is to get to every part of my role is to get to every part of my role is to get to every part of the election machine, working effectively to put together a winning platform for labour candidates across the country so i will be going to batley and spen to learn from the party on the ground and the wider West Yorkshire team and the wider West Yorkshire team and to make sure we are in the best shape we can be it when that By Election, but also, to learn the lessons we need to learn from places we have suffered defeats to earn the trust of voters. That is the only show in town and the thing the movement has to be focused on. Shabana mahmood, thank you. Pubs, cafes and restaurants in england could be serving customers inside from a week today. Were expecting borisjohnson to confirm that later. Nina can tell us whats happening across the uk. It has been a long year for hospitality, waiting to see how the Road Map unfolds. This is a big moment for struggling restaurants and bars, and customers who want to drink and stay dry. Welcome to The Breakfast Arms. The secret Bbc Boozer. The hope is that later today the Prime Minister will confirm that in England Restaurants and bars can let six people eat or drink inside from next monday. As long as they come from no more than two households. Great news for operators without outside space. Last week, the Bank Holiday Wash out meant Drinks Sales were 66 down on Pre Pandemic levels, despite it being the first long weekend with pubs open for months. Also from monday its hoped that outdoor bookings will be possible for much larger groups in england. Up to 30. These changes are just in england though. In Northern Ireland, its hoped a meeting this week will confirm indoor hospitality resuming from the 24th may. Still a long way off. In wales, indoor hospitality will also open up on the 17th. Like in england. But operators there are still waiting to find out if the rule of six will apply, or if they can only serve smaller groups. Finally, scotland. Again, slightly different. There, indoor hospitality is already open but no alcohol and theres a curfew. Thats expected to change on the 17th though. Hopefully, indoor seating will be allowed for up to six people from three households until half ten in the Evening And Alcohol will now be available, but only in two hour slots. So we are crawling back to normal. But clearly if you are thinking about crossing a national border to take advantage of the new freedoms, make sure youre across the rules of the Home Nation youre visiting. Rain or shine mostly rain we have been making the most of outdoor hospitality, havent we . Here was my view yesterday. Dreary weather and a empty Car Park Wasnt going to stop me having a catch up with an old pal. This is debbie from yorkshire, who was supposed to be on a hen do abroad with her daughter hannah. Instead they braved the rain in leeds, with hats, umbrellas and blankets. Lots of you excited for indoor fun. This is barbara on the left, sarahjane in the Middle And Liz on the right. Liz and barbara have both been widowed recently and theyve been supporting Each Other through lockdown. They said their meals out together are so important and now theyve both been vaccinated, for a catchup on monday. It is an exciting moment for them and for us, as well. Its one of those things which, before the pandemic, we wouldve taken for granted. But now, when were finally allowed to hug again, well appreciate it so much more. The Prime Minister is expected to announce today that it will be permitted in england from monday of next week. Heres what weve been missing for well over a year. Music plays really looking forward to it. I couldnt help wanting to hug my friends here at the table. I will be cautious, but i really am looking forward to hugging the parents and the in laws and stuff that we havent done for a long time. They need it, as well, so it will be really nice. Lovely images but the message from the government is effectively please hug responsibly. Lets get an idea of how we might do that with one of our regular Guests Epidemiologist mike tildesley. It sounds like an odd question to ask, but the government talking about hugging, with care. What does that even mean . It is about hugging, with care. What does that even mean . That even mean . It is really hard and hugging that even mean . It is really hard and hugging is that even mean . It is really hard and hugging is an that even mean . It is really hard and hugging is an important that even mean . It is really hard and hugging is an important parti that even mean . It is really hard i and hugging is an important part of our lives and we have had a tough last 18 months almost where we have not been able to do things like this. To me, i think it is important for mental Health And Wellbeing to hug Loved Ones but the key message, if this comes in, we need to remember the pandemic has not gone away. We are steps away from normality, so it is great we can hug Loved Ones, but we need to remember that we need to be careful. Do it responsibly. If people have symptoms, of course, if you have vulnerable relatives, may be symptoms, of course, if you have vulnerable relatives, may he do this with caution. We have high levels of vaccination, but the vaccine is not 100 protective, so we need to be a little bit careful. But i think it is a good step in the right direction. If we look at the figures, the number getting infected and going to hospital are at low levels, back to august, pretty much the lowest time at any point in the pandemic. It is a good step, but we need to do this cautiously. You have said if someone need to do this cautiously. You have said if someone has need to do this cautiously. You have said if someone has symptoms need to do this cautiously. You have said if someone has symptoms be. Said if someone has symptoms be cautious. What else should you consider . It cautious. If your Loved Ones have. Been vaccinated and had both doses, the risk associated with hugging, it is probably pretty low. That is obviously important. It gives you the higher level of confidence that this is ok to do. What we will probably have to do, if this comes in next week, it will take time to see what effect it might have. The main the 17th change obviously is the point where you can stay in peoples houses and it looks like you will be able to hug, that is likely to have an impact in terms of the pandemic and we might see the R Rate go above one. What we want to avoid is hospital admissions and people dying going up and if we can keep those at the low levels they are, hopefully resumption of hugging can be done safely and we can proceed to the gene the 21st relaxation. It is important. My family are in this position with me in the midlands and my parents in yorkshire so we have not been able to spend time with Each Other. It is important for mental Health And Wellbeing. We need to accept this but also to send out the message clearly that the pandemic is not over. It is great people can mix with Each Other in ways they could not before but what we want to avoid is a spike in cases, because people take that mixing too far. It is hard because it has been a rotten 12 months for the travel industry. The green list was probably frustrating because it is only a small number of countries people can travel to. I suspect it might change and hopefully more countries will be on the green list but it will have to be done on the risk basis. We know the situation in continental europe is more difficult than here and vaccination levels are not as high but that hopefully will change over the next weeks. We may see more countries going onto the green list. The elephant in the room is variants of concern and we want to keep them out as long as possible. Still relatively low numbers in the uk, but as we open borders that risk increases which is why i suspect the government are being careful with which countries they are putting onto the green less. , , they are putting onto the green less. ,. , they are putting onto the green less. , ,. , , less. Really interesting to talk to ou. You. Thanks. Weve been talking this morning about a plan to turn July The 4th into a thank you day to show gratitude to those who helped us to get through the pandemic. Youve been sending in your suggestions. Alison wants to thank the staff atjim Gillespie House in rugby, warwickshire, who cared so well for her dad during his final days. She says they treated him like one of their own. Helen wants to thank her mum, who she says has had to put up with a lot during all of the lockdowns. Laurie would like to say thank you to her neighbour claire, who has been her rock during the pandemic by helping with household chores. Now Take A Look at this. This is mojo, whose owner chris wants to say thank you for keeping him company and keeping him fit. Another one. Helen wants to thank her ponies. She says they have been my therapy this last year. And nicola would like to say thank you to her Neighbour Steve for looking after her Spaniel Charlie whilst she was heavily pregnant. She says hes an absolute hero thats steve and charlie. What you have in the forecast to make us feel happy . Some sunshine, but also showers. Today, that is the mixture, sunshine and showers, some of them will be heavy with Hail And Thunder and blustery around showers, particularly in england and wales. Showers in the end and west. Rain overnight from the south pushing north. It will arrive in the Northern Isles by this afternoon. Between those showers, some bright skies, sunshine, but in scotland, it is probably worth taking an umbrella if you are heading out. Same in Northern Ireland, bright spells and sunshine and showers and the same in North West england. At this Stage Something drier in the North East of england. Wales, the midlands, showers here and in Southern England. Through the day showers develop further. Some of them in the east and some of them heavy and thundery with hail. Gusty wind, up to 40 mph across parts of england and wales in Temperatures Today around nine in the north, 17 further south. Overnight, showers will fade but some will merge across Northern Ireland, pushing into scotland. Heavy bursts of rain. But first a dry night. It will not be cold and anticipate no issues with frost. The overnight low 5 8. For many start dry and sunny tomorrow, but showers across the South West pushing North Eastwards. Temperatures tomorrow similar to today. Go and sort out your tickly cough. We will send you a Cup Of Tea. That sounds good. After a couple of hit albums in the past two years, and a number one single with Captain Sir Tom moore, you might think Michael Ball fancied some time off. The singer spent the latest lockdown preparing for a return to his beloved West End and writing and producing a new album from his own home. Lets hear some of it now. If i never see another sunrise if i never hear another song if i never reach the dream im chasing you will be the one to keep me strong if im lost and im going nowhere and the road looks cold and long youll always be the place where i belong.
