In august last year epic games did something totally against apples app store rules. It decided that its Hit Game Fortnite should have a new payment option, to try to get around apples 30 charge. Apple probably kicked one of the app store but epic games is ready for the promptly. It stabbed apple with a lawsuit and was even prepared the high production video, a spoof of apples iconic 1984 advert for the apple mac. Apple has reportedly made hundreds of millions of dollars from the fortnite game alone, just in charges, and migratory� s argument is if they dont want to pay then where else can they go . � s app store and google� s google play other dominant global app stores outside of china. If you want to make games for smartphones, pretty much have to play by apple and google� s rules. Epic calls that a duopoly and if there was more competition, those fees might be lower. Their argument is a Pretty Simple anti trust one, that no one company should have so much Market Dominance in one centre. And they are not the only ones who think this, a string of high profile politicians from the democrats and republicans in the us have criticised apple for minimalistic behaviour. The eu recently announced anti trust charges against apple for his behaviour on the app store. Apples argument is Pretty Simple. It invented the app store so it should get to charge what it likes. It also says a majority of apps dont pay anything at all to apple. Its reason for charging 30 to some developers, it says it needs to vet and check ups that come onto the app store to protect the apple ecosystem. Apple is taking his court case incredibly seriously. Thats because although it is only one company suing them, if they were to lose it would threaten a Massive Moneyspinnerfor the company. Apple has confirmed that tim cook, its keep executive, will give evidence does make the first time he has ever testified at a trial. It may well be one of the coldest Early May Bank holidays on record. Now, that low pressure will drift its way steadily eastwards, still plenty of isobars tucking in behind. The wind directions still coming from a north easterly. Gales on exposed east coasts driving in some showers and the showers turning increasingly wintry to Higher Ground in scotland, Northern England and north wales.
