The jury in the trial of Derek Chauvin the former Police Officer accused of murdering George Floyd in the us will hear Closing Arguments this afternoon. Nasa is launching a drone like Helicopter On Mars The First powered flight on another planet. Abbas Bjorn Ulvaeus says Singer Songwriters are not being paid a fair share by the streaming platforms and its time for a change. Hello and welcome if youre watching in the uk or Around The World. 12 top Football Clubs, including six from the Premier League, have announced plans to form a breakaway european Super League. Arsenal, tottenham, chelsea, liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have agreed to start a new mid Week Tournament Theylljoin barcelona, inter milan, atletico madrid, Real Madrid, Ac Milan and juventus. The move s been condemned by pretty much Everyone Uefa and the Premier League say players could be banned from taking part in any other competitions including playing for their country. Adam wild reports. These are English Footballs most successful clubs. But with such success comes great power, and even greater wealth. Creating a new league with europes other Football Giants has the lure of untold riches, but at what cost . This new Super League includes English Footballs so called Big Six arsenal, tottenham, chelsea, liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United as well as leading clubs from spain and italy. What is proposed is a midweek competition, with as many as 20 clubs in total, and eventually, a womens league as well. But its been met with both criticism and condemnation. Its beyond belief, actually, that they can think that they can put this idea forward and for it just to be brought in smoothly and everyone accept it. There is the complete lack of understanding of our game, our traditions, what we love about football, whats in our hearts when we Go and watch football and when we play the game. You know, the heart of the game, you know, itsjust ripping it out of us and just stealing our game. Fans at yesterdays Fa Cup semifinal seemed equally unimpressed. When you take a league and you make a bit of a closed shop, its just completely unfair. It defeats the point of competitive football. Of course, i dont like that idea. I think, speaking for most leicester fans as well, we dont like this. It seems like a lot of big boys dont like the idea of smaller Clubs Gate crashing their party and taking away some of their revenue, tv revenue. But i think, hopefully, other clubs will fight it. Its all Money Orientated and everything. A load of codswallop. European footballs Governing-bodies'>Governing Bodies have also reacted angrily. In a joint statement from uefa, the fa and the Premier League, as well as many of their continental counterparts, they call such plans cynical and founded on the Self Interest of a few clubs. This persistent Self Interest of a few has been Going on for too long, they say. Enough is enough. Even the Prime Minister has Got involved, tweeting. Plans for a european Super League would be very damaging for football. And we support Football Authorities in taking action. They would strike at the heart of the domestic game, and will concern fans across the country. The founding clubs behind the new Super League claim they now want to work with the games current Governing-bodies'>Governing Bodies. In turn, they have already warned those taking part may be banned from other competitions and players forbidden from representing national sides. NeGotiations will not be easy. Adam wild, Bbc News. Gary neville was absolutely furious heres the former Manchester United and england defender. Its pure greed. Theyre imposters. Theyre nothing to do. The owners of this club, the owners of liverpool, the owners of chelsea, the owners of Manchester City theyre nothing to do with football in this country. There are ioo odd years of history in this country from fans that have lived and loved these clubs, and they need protecting the fans need protecting. Lets talk to the shadow Sports Minister, alison mcGovern. What do you think of these ideas . I think Gary Neville hit the nail on the head. The supporters need protecting. Unfortunately this is not a new thing. For years and years we have seen plenty of examples of where interests of supporters have been ridden roughshod over. One of the reasons why people are so mad and angry about this, it comes off the back of the year where Football Supporters up and down the country have been serving their community, taking part in efforts to deliver food parcels, keeping in touch with vulnerable fellow supporters. Thats the kind of community that football in our country is, and the idea that clubs can just in our country is, and the idea that Clubs Canjust Ride in our country is, and the idea that clubs can just ride off and set up their own thing and never mind the interest of supporters, or that broader football community. Interest of supporters, or that broaderfootball community. I broader football community. I understand why broaderfootball community. I understand why Football Supporters this morning are feeling quite disgusted. My argument is, we need to do something now, and the Government have Got a statement later in the House Of Commons but Labour Mps as well, and never mind party politics, mps across the House Of Commons, for many years have been asking for us to do more to protect supporters. Now is not a moment too late. , supporters. Now is not a moment too late. , ,. ,. , late. There have been calls for many ears for late. There have been calls for many years for an late. There have been calls for many years for an independent late. There have been calls for many years for an independent football. Years for an independent Football Regulator in this country. Would you back that now, and with that person have the power to even stop this . The former conservative Sports Minister Helen Grant brought that proposal in a bill to the House Of Commons quite recently and we do support it, for all the examples, whether its wigan Going bust, whether its wigan Going bust, whether its wigan Going bust, whether its what happened to bury, and now this, and for all these reasons we support it. At The End of the day, football at the moment is being run by The Clubs and actually needs somebody who has the power to stand up for the interests of supporters. So i believe we can get it right. I dont think its beyond us as a country to regulate the sport that so many people love and feel so passionately about. If anything, i wish we had cracked on with this years aGo. But if this is what it takes to get it done now, lets just do it. Lets ust do it. There has been such letsjust do it. There has been such Uproar Letsjust do it. There has been such uproar from letsjust do it. There has been such uproar from so letsjust do it. There has been such uproar from so many letsjust do it. There has been such uproar from so many quarters. You wonder if this thing will actually Go ahead in The End. What do you reckon . Do you reckon . Honestly, i dont know. Ithink do you reckon . Honestly, i dont know. Ithink if do you reckon . Honestly, i dont know. I think if you do you reckon . Honestly, i dont know. I think if you were do you reckon . Honestly, i dont know. I think if you were Going l do you reckon . Honestly, i dont| know. I think if you were Going to do something like this, even if you wanted to do this, the way it has been Gone about, dropped in over the heads of all supporters, this is not the way. But actually there is much bigger question is at stake here. Its not like football was perfect already. Its already the case that what should be a competitive pyramid, where clubs should be able to work their way up, with real sporting competition, already there is way too many Cliff Edges in the system where it feels far too hard for people to get to the top. That was already the case, and this makes that ten times worse. I think what we are seeing, as much as people are angry, i would say to use that anger to make change. If the Government are now saying they are prepared to act, then we asked the opposition will listen to what they have to say. As i said before, there are people, former Sports Minister is of both parties, who have been suggesting for a long time we Go further. I hope this will now be the impetus for real action. Further. I hope this will now be the impetus for real action. Thank you, shadow sports impetus for real action. Thank you, shadow Sports Minister, impetus for real action. Thank you, shadow Sports Minister, Alison Shadow Sports Minister, alison mcGovern. To redo one E Mailfrom christine, who says, i am 78, i have supported chelsea since i was 19, through hell and high water, whichever league they were playing in and however badly they played. I have cheered, cried, but never stopped loving them. I cannot believe they would do this to their faithful fans. Believe they would do this to their faithfulfans. I am devastated, believe they would do this to their faithfulfans. Iam devastated, i have not been able to afford to watch them at Stamford Bridge for many years because of increasing costs but my loyalty has been unshaken. The uk prime Minister Borisjohnson has cancelled his upcoming Trade Visit to india. This was the statement released in the last hour. It comes as a week long lockdown has been announced in the indian capital of delhi, as coronavirus cases in the city continue to rise. More than 273,000 cases of coronavirus have been reported across india, with more than 1600 deaths in the last 2a hours. There are also concerns about the indian variant of the virus here in the uk, with india currently not on the uk, with india currently not on the uks Red List. Lets get more from our political correspondent helen catt. Lets start with the last bit, a lot of people are asking, why isnt india on the Red List, meaning people coming from india to england would have to quarantine. The . People coming from india to england would have to quarantine. They would have to quarantine would have to quarantine. They would have to quarantine in would have to quarantine. They would have to quarantine in a would have to quarantine. They would have to quarantine in a Government i have to quarantine in a Government approved hotel, as is the case with approved hotel, as is the case with a number of other countries. India is not currently on that Red List and there have been lots of questions asked, particularly in the context of the Prime Ministers plan visit over the last week, as to why Thatis Visit over the last week, as to why that is the case. The Government says it always adds and removes countries from that list according to the scientific data, so i think we will have to wait and see now if thatis we will have to wait and see now if that is about to change, indias status. Downing street sources have pointed out the indian variant you mentioned is not currently classed as a variant of concern, the most serious type, and at the moment it is classed by public Health England as a variant under investigation so i think we will have to see whether that situation changes. find i think we will have to see whether that situation changes. That situation changes. And the Trade Visit that situation changes. And the Trade Visit and that situation changes. And the Trade Visit and the that situation changes. And the Trade Visit and the fact that situation changes. And the Trade Visit and the fact they that situation changes. And the j Trade Visit and the fact they will speak online or later this month, it was an inevitability with a high number of Daily Covid cases, more than 200,000. figs Number of Daily Covid cases, more than 200,000. Than 200,000. As soon as the lockdown than 200,000. As soon as the lockdown was than 200,000. As soon as the lockdown was announced than 200,000. As soon as the lockdown was announced it than 200,000. As soon as the lockdown was announced it probably looked inevitable this trip would have to be cancelled. There had been growing pressure over the last week to try and cancel it. It had already been curtailed, it was announced on friday that instead of the usual four day as the Prime Minister had been due to spend there, the bulk of meetings he was Going to have had been condensed into one day, which would have been next monday. It had already been condensed and i think they had scaled down how many people are Going on that kind of thing. But this now, that a joint statement this now, that a joint statement this morning from the british and indian Governments saying the trip is now off. , ~ our correspondent in delhi is rajini vaidyanathan. Its no surprise that once this Capital City of india and announced a week long lockdown that it wasnt Going to be tenable for the british Prime Minister to come, he was due at the start of next week. There is now a lockdown in place, and thats because the Health Infrastructure here is at breaking point. Oxygen is at a very low supply here in the city and we are seeing very distressing images on Social Media of people lining up at hospital trying to get treatment and the Chief Minister of delhi said that they are very short of Icu Beds. In fact, he said, that they are very short of Icu Beds. Infact, he said, only100 Icu Beds. Infact, he said, only100 Icu Beds in the whole of the city, and Bearin Beds in the whole of the city, and bear in mind this is the nations capital. He said, im not telling you this to scare you, this is the reality. There are some distressing images we saw yesterday on the outskirts of delhi of crematoriums that were so overwhelmed with bodies coming in for cremation that some have been cremated on the pavement. Thats how dire the situation is here. ~. , thats how dire the situation is here. ~. ,. , here. Lockdown will help a little bit. Here. Lockdown will help a little bit where here. Lockdown will help a little bit, but that of vaccination . Lockdown will help a little bit, but that is of vaccination . Lockdown will help a little bit, but that is to of vaccination . Lockdown will help a little bit, but that is to stay little bit, but that is to stay localised lockdown here in delhi. Across the country we are seeing Health Care System is battling under pressure. Its unlikely at the moment that we will see another strict national lockdown like we saw last year in india so its all about localised lockdown is. Even then there are contradictory messages. Starting with the lockdown here in delhi, whilst all Essential Services have been stopped, restaurants and shops and that kind of thing are now shut, marriages can still take place for Up To 50 people, whereas funerals can only have 20 people, so some are saying, why are you still allowing gatherings of 50 people for weddings . The other thing to point out, there are many State Level elections happening across india and we are still seeing everyday images of crowds, huge crowds of people gathering for election rallies. We are notjust talking about local politicians addressing these rallies, we are talking about the Prime Minister himself who is addressing these rallies, so some critics say his messaging is completely mixed, on the 130 tells the public to be on guard, socially distance and wear masks, but in the next breath he attends a huge rally with no social Distancing Or Covid protocols at all. With no social Distancing Or Covid protocols at all. Thank you. In the last few minutes, protocols at all. Thank you. In the last few minutes, russian protocols at all. Thank you. In the last few minutes, Russian Media | protocols at all. Thank you. In the i last few minutes, Russian Media are reporting the jailed russian Opposition Activist Alexei navalny has been moved to a hospital. Im joined now by our correspondent Steve Rosenberg in moscow. The russian Prison Service has reported Alexina Valley has been moved to a local hospital for inmates in the town of vladimir. Alexei navalny. The Prison Service said his condition was satisfactory, he was being given vitamins and was checked regularly by doctors. That jar is a little bit with what his own medical team has been saying. In recent days they have said Mr Navalny plus my condition has approached critical. They say he could suffer Kidney Failure and Go on to suffer a Cardiac Arrest. He has been on Hunger Strike since The End of march in protest at not being given access to his medical team. He has also complained at suffering torture through sleep deprivation, claiming he is being woken up on the hour every hour during the night. Certainly the message from the international community has been loud and clear in the last few days, whether we are talking about america, the eu or britain, that message is to give Mr Navalny the medical care he needs and do not let him die in prison. We heard that from the united states, from the us national Security Adviser and a similar message from the uk, from the foreign office, and from the european Union. With; the foreign office, and from the european Union. The foreign office, and from the european Union. Why is he in ail . If ou ask european Union. Why is he in ail . F you ask that i european Union. Why is he in ail . If you ask that question i european Union. Why is he in ail . If you ask that question of h european Union. Why is he injail . If you ask that question of the if you ask that question of the russian Government, they would say because he broke the law. But it is widely believed that this is a political case, that he has been put in jail because the kremlin believes he is a threat. He is after all the only opposition figure, the only Opposition Activist and Opposition Leader in russia, who has proved himself capable of bringing a large number of people and protesters onto the streets across the country. Whether they are seeing things correctly or not, but certainly the people running russia believe he is a threat to the political system as it stands. . , it stands. And if he died, would it suit the russian it stands. And if he died, would it suit the russian leaders . It stands. And if he died, would it suit the russian leaders . Thats i it stands. And if he died, would it| suit the russian leaders . Thats a really difficult suit the russian leaders . Thats a really difficult Question Suit the russian leaders . Thats a really difficult question to suit the russian leaders . Thats a | really difficult question to answer. The us says there will be consequences for russia if Mr Navalny dies in prison. What kind of consequences . More sanctions . Is russia really frightened of sanctions . To make things we have to keepin sanctions . To make things we have to keep in mind about sanctions and the Wests Response to russia and its actions. Two things. So far we have seen lots of rounds of actions but we have not seen a change in Russias Style of behaviour. The other thing to remember about sanctions, in one way they serve the kremlins purpose, they cement president Putins Narrative that he has written that the west is out to get us and the west is plotting a Revolution And Unrest in russia and the country and the people have to unite around the Government. That makes it really difficult to know how the west can respond to whats happening in russia. So if the west announces more sanctions against russia, it is not clear whether that will have much effect on the kremlin. ,. , will have much effect on the kremlin will have much effect on the kremlin. ,. , kremlin. Here in the uk, a Government backed Mortgage Scheme starts today, which is supposed to help first time home buyers. Lenders are offering deals to people with deposits as low as 5 , to buy properties worth Up To £600,000. Those who can stretch to a 10 deposit should be able to get cheaper deals. The launch comes as average House Prices in the uk continue to rise to record levels. Ben thompson, our business presenter, is with us now. How will these work . Presenter, is with us now. How will these work . , these work . Good morning, these were a Bi Oli these work . Good morning, these were a his policy in these work . Good morning, these were a his policy in the these work . Good morning, these were a his policy in the uk these work . Good morning, these were a big policy in the Uk Finance a big policy in the Uk Finance minister, the Chancellors Budget Statement last month, designed to help first time buyers get on the property ladder. Its an aspiration many have found very difficult given the rising House Prices. It would encourage lenders to offer a 95 mortgage, something they stopped doing both in the financial crisis of 2008, and most recently as a result of the Covid Pandemic that has meant many people have struggled with their Income And Ability to repay their mortgage. The idea was the Government would back a certain proportion of the mortgage meaning lenders felt more confident in lending to someone with just a small 5 deposit. As we are starting to get details of how they will work, i think some of the shine is coming off the scheme because there are suggestions that taking out a 95 mortgage will come attached with a much higher Interest Rate and it would be cheaper to get a lower Interest Rate on a 90 mortgage that requires a 10 deposit. We are told that big lenders will start to offer them from today. Lloyds, santander, barclays, Hsbc And Natwest will offer them. We also know that the halifax has said it will not lend if you are buying a new build property. Thats because there are huge concerns about so called negative equity, the idea that you borrow all this money, purchase a house at a certain price, but later the House Price falls and you are therefore held responsible for the amount you borrow and you end up paying more back than property is worth, and lenders are concerned they will be held accountable for that if they lend all this money and therefore they could make a loss. All the suggestion is that its cheaper to shop around. If you can get a 10 deposit, which is by no means guaranteed, but if you get enough money together for a guaranteed, but if you get enough Money Togetherfor a 10 guaranteed, but if you get enough money together for a 10 deposit then you might be Better getting one of those because the Interest Rates will be lower than the new mortgages offered today with a 95 guarantee. Ben thompson, thank you. This just in from the uk Prime Minister Boris Johnson on a proposed european Super League. He says this morning that its not Good news for fans and he would work with Football Authorities to make sure this doesnt Go ahead in the way it is currently being proposed. Borisjohnson has said the european Super League is not a Good thing forfans, its not european Super League is not a Good thing for fans, its not Good european Super League is not a Good thing forfans, its not Good news for them, and he will try to stop it, effectively, certainly work with Football Authorities to make sure it does not Go ahead as currently proposed. Lawyers for the Defence And Prosecution will hear Closing Arguments in the trial of Derek Chauvin the former Police Officer accused of killing George Floyd. After 11t days of testimony from 45 witnesses, the City Of Minneapolis is braced for a verdict and the possibilty of violence. Public schools are moving lessons online and the national guard will be deployed. The judge will send the 11tjury members away to a private location and they must rely on their own memories of the lawyers arguments and witness testimonies to decide their verdict. The effects of its decision are likely to be felt well beyond the City Of Minneapolis, where Mr Floyd died last year. Our correspondent Barbara Plett Usher visited neighbouring wisconsin to speak to people there about the trial. This feels very far away from a Murder Trial in a Minneapolis Court room, yet even here, at this Dairy Farm in wisconsin, the death of George Floyd casts a shadow. Tina hinchley takes great pride in her cows. She loves to introduce them to visitors on farm tours, but she is troubled about the racial and social divides the trial is putting on display. Its so upsetting, and you know what . Its embarrassing. For people that are coming to our farm from other parts of the world, they are embarrassed to see what weve Got Going on. And im embarrassed for whats happening as well. These students from a Milwaukee College have been leaning on Each Other for support. They find watching the trial and waiting for the verdict emotionally exhausting. Do you fall on the hopeful side thats been proven wrong again and again . Or do you succumb, i guess, to the Dread And Anxiety ofjust, like, theres no finality, there is nojustice there . If he is convicted, i dont want it to seem like people are Going to stop, just because, oh, Yeah, we did our part. We can relax now. Because we really cant relax now. Its still the beginning of this whole entire movement. In the suburbs of milwaukee, too, the trial is being watched closely. If there isnt a murder conviction, will the verdict be a Triggerfor Violence . Thats the fear of scarlettjohnson. She says it would damage the cause for racialjustice. With looting, violence, with throwing rocks at police, thats not Going to get what you want. I think working with police to say, we want Better training, i think more funding, but used in a different way. I think that needs to be the focus, instead of saying abolish the police, or the whole system, it should be burned down. I dont think thats the answer. There is fear and there is hope. For tina, George Floyds death has made her want to understand his life. I dont know what it feels like to be black. Feels like to have someone attack me. I dont know what it feels like to have someone pull me over by the colour of my skin. So i cant relate to that, but if this trial brings out some of those feelings and how these people are racially attacked, i think its Going to be enlightening. So perhaps ultimately this trial will deliver more than a verdict, but right now the verdict is what the country is waiting for. Barbara plett usher, Bbc News, wisconsin. We can speak to Gonzalez-van'>Nicole Gonzalez Van cleave, an Author And Professor of sociology at brown university. Thank you for talking to us. You have also written a book about racism in americas largest code. You have done a lot of research about Police Officers and why they so rarely face consequences for excessive use of force. What are your theories . Right now ou force. What are your theories . Right now you have force. What are your theories . Right now you have a force. What are your theories . Right now you have a system force. What are your theories . Ii grit now you have a system where prosecutors in america largely depend on Police Officers to win cases. That creates this kind of Incentive Structure where prosecutors are rarely incentivised to look at police cases that dont make sense and look at cases where they think police are planting drugs on a suspect or a suspect is even dead. There is so much pressure for prosecutors to blindly move forward on cases and some even fear physical violence or some career suicide. The Police Violence you see on the streets is emboldened by prosecutors and Evenjudges Streets is emboldened by prosecutors and even judges that dont want to interfere with officers. They worry about their careers, they worry about their careers, they worry about even physical harm. Rarely do we see officers even charged. In chicaGo, for instance, one of the most brutal Police Forces in america, it took 50 years to charge and convict one officer. One officer. In some ways that says it all. The Derek Chauvin trial, since it began on March 20 nine, 64 more people have died at the hands of police. Its possible we may not see a guilty verdict and we need to brace ourselves for that possibility. Brace ourselves for that possibility brace ourselves for that ossibili. ~. ,. When an officer is| charged, which doesnt always happen, is the criminalJustice System waited in their favour in some way, and if it is, how . Absolutely. I think what protesters in the last five or six years have done, especially the black lives matter movement, they have made americans in some ways reckon with Police Violence. They have shown us and the world first hand how George Floyd died, how Eric Garner died. We see these images again and again. In chicaGo the policejust see these images again and again. In chicaGo the police just shot a 13 year old boy named adam toledo. The public sentiment will change, but for a long time people didnt question the police. They believed the Law And Order myth of policing and they didnt believe police could lie. But if you interview prosecutors and judges, they will admit they know that Police Officers are lying on the stand, they are lying about cases and they are shading cases. When it starts to Go public, will more people in america, as we heard in that previous segment with a wisconsin farm, that starts to begin to be the seeds of change. Do you think we are beginning to see a change or not . I do you think we are beginning to see a change or not . A change or not . I think we are. Whats transformative a change or not . I think we are. Whats transformative is a change or not . I think we are. Whats transformative is that i a change or not . I think we are. | whats transformative is that now you see more people questioning the veracity of Police Testimony of the for instance, when they were seating a jury in the Derek Chauvin trial, it was really hard for the defence to find a Law And Orderjuror that in some ways didnt question what they had seen in the last five years in terms of police brutality. That absolutely is a change, especially in a state like minnesota where you are sorting through may be a conservative, white pool of possible jurors. Again, it signals a possibility of change but it only takes one juror to be possibility of change but it only takes onejuror to be a possibility of change but it only takes one juror to be a holdout. Of the Coronavirus Vaccine thats the centers for Disease Control has also said almost a third of adults have been fully vaccinated. But the countrys top covid adviser, Dr Anthony Fauci, is warning that the us remains in a precarious situation. Our north america correspondent, david willis, says this puts President Biden on track to meet his target of vaccinating 200 Million people in his first 100 days. President biden spoke last month of the 4th ofjuly of course, american Independence Day of marking some sort of return to a semblance of normality after the pandemic. He called it the possibility of marking independence from the coronavirus on the 4th ofjuly, but youre absolutely right, he has set this target of 200 Million doses of the vaccine being administered in his first 100 days in office. It looks as though that target is Going to be met sometime in the next few days, so that means it will be more than a week ahead of schedule. You mentioned Dr Anthony Fauci there, the nations top infectious disease expert, and he has been cautious, however. He has pointed today to the fact that about 60,000 new cases of Covid 19 are being reported here every single day, so he says now is not the time for complacency, despite the fact that we do have this Good news. Now its Good, but i didnt get up yet, lets check it out. The tourists can check out moscow, too. Life here isnt locked down like it is in europe. But russias Infection Rate is ticking up again, even though locals can get sputnik for free as they shop. In moscow, at least, it is really easy to get vaccinated. Theres drop in clinics like this one all over the city. But, as you can see, theres no huge demand here. So, as europeans are starting to rush to this country in the quest for a covid vaccine, russians just arent that enthusiastic. This man told me russians dont worry until danger actually strikes. Only around A Million muscovites have so far been vaccinated. That does mean there is enough sputnik to Go round, though, because production of this vaccine is pretty limited. But its not an option for all foreigners. Russias still closed to most countries because of covid restrictions. Happily for hans, germany is an exception. He hopes Vaccine Tourism can help keep his Travel Firm afloat in this pandemic. Ive Got many, many calls from people all over our country in germany who are excited about the offer to Go To Moscow with us. Still with no Sputnik Side effects, eno is making the most of his unusual Mini Break To Moscow. As russia makes the most of stepping in to help out where europe is struggling. Sarah rainsford, Bbc News, moscow. The american Space Agency, nasa, has attempted to fly a drone on mars for The First time. The test aims to fly a small twin Rotor Helicopter for 30 seconds to a height of three metres over the martian surface before touching down. Flight data from the red planet will take some time to return to controllers on earth. In the meantime, lets talk to Professor Sanjeev Gupta, and hes joined by the Space Scientist and author, Doctor Maggie Aderin pocock mbe. Thank you for talking to us. After more than a year of being unable to leave their home country, The First flights of australian residents have arrived in New Zealand. It marks the beginning of the Trans Tasman Bubble a two way travel corridor. The bbc s shaimaa khalil travelled with them to auckland. The scenes here in Auckland Airport have been quite Heart Warming and moving. Many hugs and kisses and tears ofjoy, passengers reuniting with Loved Ones they havent seen for over a year. Quite an emotional Day One of the Trans Tasman Travel bubble. Ah, i feel great. Ive missed my grandson and im so happy to see him. Im Going to Go home and give him the biggest hugs and feed him all the New Zealand food. Yeah, just great to see him. Everyones was really excited, everyone was friendly and chatting. And then when it landed, everyone clapped and, we are here, were back home. Were very fortunatel to be able to do this. Yeah, i understand a lot. Of people would struggle. Yeah, im just glad, just happy. Yeah, i feel awesome. Yeah, Yeah, so excited now. Emotional, really emotional. Trying not to cry now, Yeah. Just really emotional. Auckland airport has been gearing up for this for a while. The Arrivals Terminal has essentially been split into two. Those coming from other areas not in the bubble have been diverted into a different route, they have been on buses off to hotel quarantine. Those who arrived from australia, like we did, well, weve come through the main terminal, its a Green Zone area. The airport is expecting 400 flights for the rest of the week, which is ten times more than before quarantine free travel. The hope is this will revive the badly hit Tourism Sector in New Zealand. Before the pandemic, 1. 5 Million australians visited New Zealand annually, contributing to about half of the countrys tourism market, and also contributing about 2 Billion in 2019 alone. Imagine New Zealand Going from that to zero in one year. Things look like they are picking up. We have heard from an owner of one of the Adventure And Tour companies who said they have received more bookings in the last two weeks than they have this whole past year. Now, all of this could change in the case of an outbreak in either country. Yes, there are covid Safety Measures here. People who arrive in New Zealand have to give detailed information about how they could be contacted during their stay. There is the covid tracer app, as well. But authorities did warn people that their travels could be disrupted if cases do emerge. For now, though, its Holiday Plans and family reUnions for so many people on both sides of the tasman. All students have been evacuated from south Africas University of Cape Town after several of its buildings were set ablaze. A wildfire started on the slopes of Table Mountain spreading to the university campus. Firefighters have been trying to tackle the blaze with Water Bombs dropped from helicopters. The bbc s Tim Allman reports. The fire began on part of the mountain called, appropriately enough, devils peak. Huge billowing clouds of smoke drifting into a brilliant blue Cape Town sky. Firefighters desperately trying to get the flames under control but pretty soon they had spread to the campus of the local university. Historic buildings damaged, hundreds of students forced to flee for safety. Also in the path of the fire, the citys historic mostert s mill, the oldest surviving and only Working Windmill in south africa. Now burnt out and almost completely destroyed. Hikers in the Table Mountain national park were urged to leave, but it was a pretty close Run Thing for this cyclist, who suddenly found himself surrounded by smoke and flames. Its a bit stupid of me. But. Smoke, my eyes. 0k. Ah, thats hot smoke. My eyes. I cant see. He did eventually manage to make it home safely. All day, helicopters have flown back and forth, dropping thousands of gallons of water on the mountain below. People have been told to stay inside and keep their windows shut as the battle Goes on. Now bjorn wants to do his part to help those at a different stage of their career. Knowing me, knowing you is the best i can do. The pandemic has been very, very bad in many, many ways, but its been Good in putting the spotlight on the plight of the songwriter, i think. Money, money, money. Bjorn is behind a report which calls for Record Companies to give songwriters a greater share of the money they earn from Music Streaming services. Always sunny. The fact that the artists stopped touring made them realise how little they were actually making from streaming. Now its time for a look at the weather with carol. Hello, again. High pressure is firmly in charge of our weather this week, which means things will be fairly settled. Yes, we do have a Weather Front at the moment coming into the west introducing some rain but for most of us it will be dry with warm sunshine, temperatures getting Up To 17 degrees in that sunshine for some of us. But we do have this clutch of fronts across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland and here there is more cloud and more rain. That will be on and off as we Go through this afternoon. Many of us, eastern scotland, much of england and wales are seeing that sunshine. There is an outside chance you could catch the odd shower somewhere in the South East but not much more than that. The cloud continuing across Northern Ireland, Western Scotland with The Rain. Temperatures here ten degrees. But as we push out toward central and eastern areas, the highs are more likely to be about 17 degrees. As we head on through the evening and overnight, our weatherfront makes slow progress across scotland and Northern Ireland, taking its increasingly light and patchy rain with it. We see a return to some low cloud, Mist And Fog coming in from the North Sea across eastern parts of england and we could see the Odd Pocket elsewhere, as well. And where weve Got cloud out towards the west, temperatures hanging on at about six or seven but a cold night for the rest of us with some frost in rural areas. Tomorrow, a lot of this fog will eventually burn back towards the North Sea coastline. Our Weather Front sinks south as a weak feature and brighter behind it but it will also cool down. Ahead of that there is a chance more of us will see a shower but it is just a chance, thats all, a lot of us will stay dry. Subtle change in the Wind Direction to more of a northerly direction, hence it will feel fresher in the north with temperatures between eight and nine. Move to the other side of the Weather Front and we are still looking at a high of 17 degrees. From tuesday into wednesday, a new area of High Pressure builds in from the atlantic, our Weather Front slips southwards as a very weak feature, in fact, it wont be very much more than a band of Cloud But Something salient is the change in the Wind Direction. It will feel fresher on wednesday with more of a northerly wind coming our way. But a lot of dry weather, a lot of settled weather and a fair bit of sunshine with variable amounts of cloud. So, if you are looking for significant rain in the forecast, there isnt Going to be any this week, it will be largely dry but frosty by night. This is Bbc News. Im rebecca jones. The headlines at 11. Coming up this hour, Abbas Bjorn Ulvaeus says Singer Songwriters are not being paid a fair share by the streaming platforms and its time for a change. Hello and welcome to Bbc News. Theres been widespread condemnation of the plans of 12 top Football Clubs, including six from the Premier League, to form a breakaway european Super League. Arsenal, tottenham, chelsea, liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have agreed to start a new mid Week Tournament Theylljoin barcelona, inter milan, atletico madrid, Real Madrid, Ac Milan and juventus. The move has angered fans and uefa and the Premier League say players could be banned from taking part in any other competitions including playing for their country. Borisjohnson says he will work with Football Authorities to make sure the league doesnt Go ahead as planned. Even in these proposals, one of the things they are trying to say is we will generate more funds and they will generate more funds and they will be devolved down to the game itself, i think it gives an opportunity actually for Football Authorities to get together and together with Uefa And Fifa and start to look at some of the fundamental problems in the game which isnt the top line, the bottom line. If you look at it from a naked commercial point of view, a Players Brand is not more if they are an international so there is that aspect but i think this will be decided not by the players, more about the powers that be, and i think collectively i would hope uefa and all the Football Associations and all the Football Associations and fifa will be as Good as their word and do what they are saying and put a stop to this idea. We have heard the news that tottenham have sacked their managerJose Mourinho, but news came through in the last hour, i wondered what your reaction was, six days before a Cup Final. It is not for me to comment on the individual policies of grubs, but it is quite interesting about something like that which would have been quite a big piece of news that has been swamped by this news, which is more important because this is a long Term Future of the game and in this country where we have this fantastic pyramid, the exact opposite of what they are talking but because a permit in this country is based on competition and the ability to dream, to be promoted, but also the threat of relegation and also the fact that these clubs are nailed into the communities and are nailed into the communities and are a part of the important fabric of a lot of communities in this country. We are expecting | the Prime Minister Boris Johnson to the prime Minister Borisjohnson to make a statement shortly about the proposed plans for the new european Super League. Borisjohnson has cancelled his upcoming Trade Visit to india. This was his statement released this morning. It comes as a week long lockdown has been announced in the indian capital, delhi, as coronavirus cases in the city continue to rise. More than 273,000 cases of coronavirus have been reported across india, with more than 1,600 deaths, in the last 24 hours. There are also concerns about the indian variant of the virus here, with the country currently not on the uks travel Red List. Lets get more from our political correspondent helen catt. How inevitable do you think was the cancellation of this trip . I how inevitable do you think was the cancellation of this trip . Cancellation of this trip . I think it was looking cancellation of this trip . I think it was looking pretty cancellation of this trip . I think it was looking pretty inevitable | cancellation of this trip . I think i it was looking pretty inevitable for some days now and there has certainly been growing pressure from political opponents here in the uk for several days for the Prime Minister to call this trip off in light of what is happening. This morning we have Got confirmation that it morning we have Got Confirmation Thatitis Morning we have Got confirmation that it is off, it is in light of the current coronavirus situation. The Prime Minister had already tried to truncate the trip, make it shorter, he had originally been planned to Go for four days, on friday it was announced the bulk of the meetings would be condensed into one day but now there will be no it is off completely, it looked pretty inevitable that was Going to happen although the statement we Got from both Governments this morning saying that both prime Minister Od and by mrjohnson will speak later this month and they do intend to meet in person later this year. Truth . Month and they do intend to meet in person later this year. Person later this year. Why isnt india on Englands Person later this year. Why isnt india on englands red person later this year. Why isnt india on englands Red List, person later this year. Why isnt india on englands Red List, in i india on englands Red List, in other words that people can come from india to england i dont have to quarantine in Government approved accommodation . That is a question that has been as quite accommodation . That is a question that has been as quite a accommodation . That is a question that has been as quite a Lot Accommodation . That is a question that has been as quite a lot of accommodation . That is a question that has been as quite a lot of lastl that has been as quite a lot of last week particularly in light of the Prime Ministers plan visit. But the Government will say is they put countries on the Red List or take them off depending on the scientific data, on a number of factors they look at to decide which countries are on the Red List and which ones are on the Red List and which ones are not. If youre on the Red List it means if you visit you have to quarantine in a Government approved hotel, when you return to england. Its partly as well to do with this variant, Downing Street sources point out the indian variant is currently classed by public Health England as whats known as a variant under investigation. That is not as serious if you like as a variant of concern. So there are a lot of factors in this. However i think its Going to be really interesting to see if there is a change in the status over the coming days of india and whether it does Go on the Red List given the situation with numbers. List given the situation with Numbers List given the situation with numbers. ,. ,. ,. , numbers. Good to talk to you, thank ou. The headlines on Bbc News fury as some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, including Manchester United, Chelsea And Liverpool, announce plans to join a new breakaway european Super League with no relegation. Meanwhile, tottenham have sacked their manager, Jose Mourinho. They are seventh in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Europa League last month. Borisjohnson cancels his Trade Trip to india amid rising covid cases in the country. A Government backed Mortgage Scheme starts today which is supposed to help first time home buyers. Lenders are offering deals to people with deposits as low as 5 to buy properties worth Up To £600,000. Those who can stretch to a 10 deposit should be able to get cheaper deals. Lloyds, santander, barclays, Hsbc And Natwest are starting to offer products this week. Virgin Money Willjoin them from next month. Meanwhile, halifax and barclays have said they wont be making these products available for new build properties. The launch comes as average House Prices in the uk continue to rise to record levels. Lindsayjudge is Research Director at the Resolution Foundation, a Think Tank focused on improving living standards for people on low to middle incomes. Helps the marginal first time buyer. It helps somebody who is almost at that point of being able to bite. But is of course something that has Got worse over the covid period, more and more difficult as lenders have become more restricted. I think the big question is what will the impact of this new scheme be on House Prices, because anything that stimulates demand of course does increase simple inflationary pressure on House Prices cooked so it could potentially lead first time buyers simply chasing their tails. It has been very interesting about House Prices, because they have Gone up House Prices, because they have Gone up during the pandemic. Can you explain that to me and why you think this impact, scheme could have an impact on that . It is this impact, scheme could have an impact on that . Impact on that . It is definitely an unusual pattern, impact on that . It is definitely an unusual pattern, an impact on that . It is definitely an unusual pattern, an economic impact on that . It is definitely an i unusual pattern, an economic crisis when we look back in history House Prices do not generally Go up because incomes are injeopardy i think there are a couple of things that make the covid crisis distinctive. The first is of Course Covid has made lots of people think about their lives, their preferences, where they would like to live and ice have potentially changed, people might want houses in less crowded areas, bigger houses for example. The other obvious thing about the covid crisis that is quite distinctive that a lot of people have done quite well out of it and a lot of people have been able to buy quite a lot of money and those two factors are potentially driving up House Prices at the moment. On top of that we have had policy interventions, not least the Stamp Duty Holiday that the chancellor announced lastjuly. That has produced what analysts would call quite a lot of froth any market. The; quite a lot of froth any market. As i said at the start you work for the Resolution Foundation which focuses on improving living standards for people on low to middle incomes. What has been the impact of the coronavirus on those people . Its coronavirus on those people . Its Definitel Coronavirus on those people . It s definitely true that younger people and private renters who are two groups who are more likely to be lower middle income households than not have seen the covid prices affect them epic particularly acutely. We know they are groups who have been more likely to be furloughed and lost theirjobs in the crisis. It has not been an equally felt, and those are the exactly the kind of groups who are most likely to be striving to get on the Housing Ladder i now and most likely to be subject to experience problems of House Prices continuing to inflate. ,. ,. ,. , to inflate. Lets hear what borisjohnson had to say on the Super League proposals. We are Going to look at everything that we can do with the Football Authorities to make sure that this doesnt Go ahead in the way that is currently being proposed. I dont think it is Good news for fans, currently being proposed. I dont think it is Good news forfans, i dont think it is Good news for football in this country, and then forget, these clubs are notjust great global brands, of course their global brands, they are also clubs that have originated historically from their towns and cities and local communities, they should have a link with those fans and with the Fan Base in their community, so it is very important that that continues to be the case. I dont like the look of these proposals and we will be consulting about what we can do. He has also cancelled his Trench Trip to india amid rising covid cases in the country and this is what hes had to say stop the Red List is very what hes had to say stop the Red List is very much what hes had to say stop the Red List is very much a what hes had to say stop the Red List is very much a matter what hes had to say stop the Red List is very much a matter for what hes had to say stop the Red List is very much a matter for the | list is very much a matter for the independent Uk Health security agency. They will have to take that decision, but never enter modi and i have basically come to the conclusion that very sadly i wont be able to Go ahead with the trip. I think it is only sensible to postpone given what is happening in india the shape of the pandemic there, countries Around The World including our own have been through this and i think everybody has Got a massive amount of sympathy with india and what they are Going through, and i want to stress that this, we are Going to be Going back, the relationship between the uk and india is of huge importance and i will be talking to Narendra Modi on monday and we will try to do as much as we can virtually, of course it will be frustrating but we will try and replicate as much as we can remotely, and then look forward to doing it in person as and when circumstances allow and hopefully before the summit in november and hopefully we will get Narendra Modi overfor hopefully we will get Narendra Modi over for the g7 hopefully we will get Narendra Modi overfor the g7 injune. The american Space Agency, nasa, has attempted to fly a drone on mars for The First time. The test aims to fly a small twin Rotor Helicopter for 30 seconds to a height of three metres over the martian surface before touching down. Flight data from the red planet will take some time to return to controllers on earth. Lets get more on this from our global science correspondent, rebecca morelle. At day 30 am this morning if all went to plan, this little helicopter took off, hovered about and went back down again but because mars is so far away it takes a lot of bang for that data to come back to earth so we should be getting the data back any time in the next 20 minutes so we will get idea if this endeavour actually took place and worked or not because it is a really tricky thing that they are trying to do. We have never done another controlled flight on another planet before and there is loads that could Go wrong so it will be really nerve racking moment for the team. It is worth reiterating i read this this morning, and i thought it is one of those facts that kind of causes you to stop in your tracks, it is 173 Million miles from earth, so what they are trying to attempt, there are plenty of perils . The distance is there are plenty of perils . The distance is an there are plenty of perils . Tie distance is an issue because it does not like you can sit back here on earth and control the helicopter with a joystick. You have to upload the instructions, the helicopter has to be clever enough to be able to make all sorts of decisions by itself to navigate to avoid obstacles, to land safely. The atmosphere on mars, that is the main challenge, it isjust1 atmosphere on mars, that is the main challenge, it is just 1 of the density of the actors here on earth so it is hardly any error prior helicopter to be able to buy them too, so as a result of helicopter is really small, really light but has these incredibly long rotors, which spin, two of them, in opposite directions Up To two and thousand revolutions a minute which is much faster than a hike Up To here on earth but this should hopefully provide the left that it needs but no one has ever tried a bank as before, they tested it on earth and it seemed fine, but are these quite different from ours, so whether or not it is a success there or not, we willjust have to wait and see stop i know you are keeping an eye on things, you reckon perhaps we might know in the next quarter of an hour, so we will come back. So we will come back. Fingers crossed tell so we will come back. Fingers crossed tell us so we will come back. Fingers crossed tell us what so we will come back. Fingers. Crossed tell us what happened. So we will come back. Fingers crossed tell us what happened. For now, thanks. Meaningful change can be achieved in the wake of the greensill capital controversy, William Wragg has said. The conservative mp, who is leading the committee investigating lobbying, says theres an understanding that something must be done. The comments come amid a number of probes, including by Downing Street, as westminster looks to understand the role former prime Minister David cameron played in securing Whitehall Access for greensill, which was selected as an intermediary lender for some Government-covid'>Government Covid 19 support loans at the start of the pandemic and whose collapse now risks thousands ofjobs, particularly in the steel sector. We can now speak to susan hawley, executive director at spotlight on corruption, a charity working to end corruption in the uk. Good of you to join Good of you tojoin us, thank you. This is a complicated story. We have now Got several enquiries Going into various elements of it. Ijust wonder what your concerns have been so far about what has emerged. I think we have to remember that this has come on the back of a series of scandals. We have had three major scandals. We have had three major scandals in the last nine months involving Privilege Access by business to politicians. We have had the robertjenrick a hair where there was an illegal Planning Decision in favour of a conservative Party Donor to save him £45 Million worth of tax, we have had the Vip Line in the Emergency Ppe Procurement and now greensill. It is notjust procurement and now greensill. It is not just about greensill, procurement and now greensill. It is notjust about greensill, it is the coming together of the scandals, which is really raising the question as to whether we have reached system failure, and we cantjust tweak the system, we need really ambitious reforms, so we heard George Eustice at the weekend saying we could just do a few minor tweaks to the Lobbying Act and itll be fine and the rules were broken, the problem here is the rules arent really Good enough. We have the Industry Association for lobbying saying this, it is the legislation is unfit for purpose. We really have to look at what damage us is doing to our politics and democracy. It is this really what we are to expect from politicians . Only 15 of people really trust politicians at the moment. The only profession lower than politicians are advertising executives. We really need to find ways to be ambitious and seize the moment and it is really encouraging that we hear people like William Wragg and Bernard Jenkin from the very senior party, conservative party, saying this isnt is a moment for reform and it would be a realfailure of moment for reform and it would be a real failure of political will not to say that. Real failure of political will not to say that real failure of political will not tosa that. ,. ,. , to say that. What sort of reforms are ou to say that. It is i absolutely essential reforms. It is absolutely essential reforms. It is a big Scandal And Greensill touches on so many different things, but the number one has to be what to conservative party led parliamentary committees have called for over the past decade, which is we have to have an Ethics Commissioner and that is to replace the business advisory committee and also the independent adviser on ministerial interests and they need to be given proper independent powers and an ability to impose sanctions when things are wrong. If we want to be really ambitious we need to look to our allies in australia, canada, the usa, all looking to set up central ethics commissions. Which had the power to regulate the ethical behaviour of senior Government civil servants and politicians. The second thing we need to see is a revamp of the Lobbying Act and far greater transparency and who is meeting who what they are actually talking about, and that really cuts to the heart of the greensill scandal, but there is something else emerged from greensill which was problematic, how greensill which was problematic, how greensill himself managed to get into the heart of Government and sell his business games as a contractor and he wasnt bound by any rules at all and this is what Eric Pickles has done a very Good job of asking the right questions on this, so we have Got to stop the moonlighting of senior civil servants doing second jobs, we have Got to stop preying on contractors who are not subject to any ethical rules at all, so we have to find a way to improve the standards of public ethics in Government. Thtiiii public ethics in Government. All sorts of different inquirys of course set in train. Good to talk to you. Thank you. Thanks a lot now its time for a look at the weather with carol kirkwood. Hello, again. Many of us are Going to have a dry and sunny Day Today except for across parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland, where weve Got a Weather Front producing thicker cloud and also some rain, which will be on and off throughout the course of the day. Mist and fog from this morning tending to just burn away. Temperatures, well, widely14 17 degrees but a little bit lower where weve Got the cloud and The Rain in the north west. Through this evening and overnight, this band of rain will turn increasingly weaker as it pushes across scotland and Northern Ireland. We will see a return to low cloud, Mist And Fog coming in from the North Sea across eastern england and the Odd Pocket of Mist Or Fog here and there, as well. Under Clear Skies in rural areas, it will be cold enough for a touch of frost. Tomorrow, the Mist And Fog will push back towards the North Sea coastline, as our front sinks south, it will brighten up behind it with a few showers but mostly dry in england and wales with, again, an outside chance of a shower. Highs here, 16 or 17 but cooler in the north. Hello, this is Bbc News with rebecca jones. The Headlines Fury as some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, including Manchester United, Chelsea And Liverpool, announce plans tojoin a new breakaway Super League with no relegation. We will get to the european Super League in a moment, but we will start with the big news from the Premier League, Jose Mourinho new sacked as manager of tottenham. It comesjust mourinho new sacked as manager of tottenham. It comes just six days after the league final which they are playing in. Simon, how unexpected was this news . Well, i suppose the timing of it is very suppose the timing of it is very unexpected given tottenham have a game against southampton on wednesday, and then the Efl Cup final on sunday. Then it is maybe not surprising because tottenham have taken just two points from three games, they have slipped to seventh in the Premier League, they are five points off the top four and that could increase if Chelsea And Liverpool win their games in hand, so i suppose it is seen as a throw of the dice to try to resurrect Tottenhams Season, which is in danger of sliding away. You can see why it could be both a surprise and not a surprise. Why it could be both a surprise and not a surprise not a surprise. What is next for tottenham. Not a surprise. Whether that extends through The End of the season we will out. Daniel leavy was very quick to appointJose Mourinho in the wake of maurico pochettinos departure. This comes at a time when tottenham have signed Up To the european Super League proposals that were announced yesterday. We have a situation where no fans are still in the stadium, The Club is losing a lot of money having built a magnificent new stadium. They want to have a clean slate to Go into next season to try and Go again, try and push. It will be interesting to see where tottenham Go for here, and also interesting of course to see where jose also interesting of course to see whereJose Mourinho Goes. His spell ended negatively, as it did in Manchester United and his second term at chelsea. His next appointment will be very interesting, as well. The; appointment will be very interesting, as well. As we have been hearing interesting, as well. As we have been hearing throughout interesting, as well. As we have been hearing throughout the interesting, as well. As we have been hearing throughout the morning, plenty of reaction to the proposals for a new breakaway european Super League which would see 12 of the biggest clubs playing in the new midweek competition. It is a move thatis midweek competition. It is a move that is sent shock waves through the footballing world. Governing bodies have vowed to stop the leak Going ahead. Fans we have heard from this morning have said they are disgusted by the idea, while david bernstein, who also led the fa, said he is ashamed of his former club for signing up. Six English Sides have agreed to take part. Theres been widespread criticism. A Football Finance Expert says he can understand why it is an attractive proposition to some clubs. Manchester united are around £500 million. They have paid 800 over £800 million in interest since they were bought out. Spurs and arsenal have borrowed money from the bank of england under the covid rules. The spanish clubs, especially barcelona and Real Madrid, have huge debts and there is a question over their ability to continue in their present form, so the advances that would be coming from the backers of this Franchise Project would help them to pay off some of those debts. That Franchise Project would help them to pay off some of those debts. Pay off some of those debts. That is all the sport pay off some of those debts. That is all the sport for now, but plenty all the sport for now, but plenty more reaction to that breaking news thatJose Mourinho has been sacked and the european Super League proposals are on the bbc sport website. Lawyers for the Defence And Prosecution will hear Closing Arguments in the trial of Derek Chauvin the former Police Officer accused of killing George Floyd. After 14 days of testimony from 45 witnesses, the City Of Minneapolis is braced for a verdict and the possibilty of violence. Public schools are moving lessons online and the national guard will be deployed. Then the judge will send the 14jury members away to a private location and must rely on their own memories of the lawyers arguments and witness testimonies to decide their verdict. In the suburbs of milwaukee too the trial is being watched closely. A Hospital Trust has pleaded guilty to failing to provide safe care to a Mother And Baby who died a week after his birth. Harry richford died in November 2017 after a series of errors at his birth by the East Kent hospitals nhs trust. An inquest in 2020 found his death was wholly avoidable and contributed to by neglect. The number of people visiting shops jumped by 88 following the re opening of nonessential shops in england and wales last week. According to the latest data, overall footfall is now a quarter lower than the pre pandemic level. London saw the biggest weekly increase, up by of 120 . People in australia and New Zealand can now travel freely between the two countries without needing to quarantine. The so called Travel Bubble has opened after more than a year of restrictions both countries closed their borders last march. The australian and New Zealand Governments have warned that tougher measures may be re introduced if theres a coronavirus outbreak. We can now speak to jane hawkes, a Travel Author and consumer travel expert. Tell us a little bit more about how this Travel Bubble works. This Travel Bubble works. Well, a Travel Bubble this Travel Bubble works. Well, a Travel Bubble enables this Travel Bubble works. Well, a Travel Bubble enables the this Travel Bubble works. Well, a Travel Bubble enables the free i Travel Bubble enables the free travel, not cost free, but restriction free travel, between two countries. It is very different in terms of what we have been looking at for our traffic like system that will be refined here over the next few weeks. It will be for a Travel Bubble that you dont have any restrictions on testing, there are no vaccination checks and it is totally different to what we are looking at for the Traffic Light System, so there are no restrictions in the travel and residents can move freely between those two countries. To finish the thoughts about australia and New Zealand, how they been able to do this . Been able to do this . Because of their low levels been able to do this . Because of their low levels of been able to do this . Because of their low levels of the been able to do this . Because of their low levels of the virus, been able to do this . Because of| their low levels of the virus, then they have been able to do this. They closed their borders in march last year and the quarantine was made compulsory from that point. It has been a very long haul to get to this particular points and it has been no easyjourney. It will rely on very much on the bubble not bursting. If we look at the example of taiwan and palau, that Bubble Burst afterjust two weeks because china airlines introduced our Suspension Flight for the rest of the month, so therefore there was no further bubble. That came to an end. This is potentially the problem over the Travel Bubbles. But what a truly marvellous day to watch all that reunification is, and it sent a happy message of hope to the rest of the world. Its, it sent a happy message of hope to the rest of the world. Its. Lat it sent a happy message of hope to the rest of the world. The rest of the world. A lot of teo. Le the rest of the world. A lot of people reunited the rest of the world. A lot of people reunited after the rest of the world. A lot of people reunited after a the rest of the world. A lot of people reunited after a year. The rest of the world. A lot of| people reunited after a year or the rest of the world. A lot of people reunited after a year or more apart. In terms of this country, could we see Travel Bubbles at all, or do you think that is out of the question . I or do you think that is out of the tuestion . 4 i, or do you think that is out of the tuestion . ~ i, i, i, question . I think we are on a different trajectory. Question . I think we are on a different trajectory. We question . I think we are on a different trajectory. We took| different trajectory. We took different trajectory. We took different actions to australia and New Zealand back in march last year. We did not close our borders. We are on a differentjourney and it will be a certain amount of time before we can get to that point and establish Travel Bubbles. With Travel Bubbles there is no testing, no proof of vaccination, no quarantine. Passengers will wear masks and they have to be tracked, but there needs to be an agreement between the countries in question over whether this can work on their circumstances and if it is safe to do so to reopen travel in this way. Thank you. Allies of the jailed russian Opposition Activist Alexei navalny say theyre seeking urgent clarification about the state of his health, days after they warned that he could die at any minute. They say theyve received no new information on Mr Navalny s health since friday. The united states has warned russia of serious consequences if the Kremlin Critic dies in prison. European Union foreign ministers are due to discuss his case later. Courtney bembridge reports. Alexei navalny is being held at this prison outside of moscow. He has been on Hunger Strike since The End of march, protesting because he is being refused access to his medical team. His personal doctor tweeted this video saying that she and three other doctors stood for two hours and begged to be let into the jail but they were refused entry. The doctors say recent Blood Test results indicate that navalny could Go into Cardiac Arrest at any moment. This was the message from his top aides. Have you ever seen with your own eyes how someone is killed . Yes, you have, you are seeing it right now. Whatever the urge to pull away from it, change the subject, that doesnt negate the fact that Alexei Navalny is being killed in a terrible way and in front of everyones eyes. But Russias Ambassador to the uk says that is not Going to happen. Of course he will not be allowed to die in prison, but i can say that Mr Navalny behaves like a hooligan absolutely in trying to violate every rule that has been established. His purpose for all of that is to attract attention. Navalny was arrested in january when he returns to russia after a near fatal Poisoning Attack which he says was orchestrated by the kremlin. It denies the allegation. The us has warned there will be consequences if Mr Navalny dies. And the eus top diplomat tweeted that he was deeply concerned and again called for navalny s immediate and unconditional release. It comes amid rising tensions between moscow and the west over a litany of issues, including Russias Troop build up on ukraines border. I think we have to define the red lines with russia. This is the only way to be credible. I think that sanctions are not sufficient in itself, but sanctions are part of the package. Eu foreign ministers are expected to discuss navalny s plight on monday. Courtney bembridge, Bbc News. More than three quarters of licensed premises in england remain closed, despite the easing of lockdown restrictions thats according to a survey by the Hospitality Industry. Pubs and restaurants in england have been allowed to serve customers outside for a week and many of those which did open enjoyed a busy weekend, Asjon Donnison reports. Reason for cheer. For many in england, this weekend saw them out on the town for The First time in months. A little bit of sunshine adding to the mix. Blue skies out. I mean, what more do you want . It was about an hour and a half to two hours we queued up. It wasnt too bad. We had a couple of drinks in the queue. We ordered our food, whatever, happy days. But with only outdoor Table Service allowed, figures from the Hospitality Industry show less than a quarter of licensed premises in england have actually been able to reopen. Around a third of all pubs are back pulling pints, many with beer gardens, but its been much tougher for restaurants, which are far more dependent on indoor dining. Some of the countrys biggest hospitality firms have signed a letter urging the Government to stick to plans to allow that in england from may the 17th. And unlike in england, pubs and restaurants will only begin to reopen in wales, scotland and Northern Ireland later this month. Covid Infection Rates are now at their lowest level since last september. But as people mix more, that could change and there remain concerns about new variants of the virus reaching the uk, the latest of which seems to have originated in india. The Hospitality Industry is hoping this isjust the beginning. But health officials will be watching closely to see what impact this latest easing of restrictions has. Jon donnison, Bbc News. All students have been evacuated from south Africas University of Cape Town after several of its buildings were set ablaze. A wildfire started on the slopes of Table Mountain, spreading to the university campus. Iam Going i am Going to interrupt that story. We will Go straight to nasa headquarters. Much more on that coming up, but lets catch up with all the weather news. The headlines. Theres been widespread condemnation of the plans of 12 top Football Clubs, including six from the Premier League, to form a breakaway european Super League. Arsenal, tottenham, chelsea, liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have agreed to start a new mid week tournament. Theylljoin barcelona, inter milan, atletico madrid, Real Madrid, Ac Milan and juventus. The move has angered fans and uefa and the Premier League say players could be banned from taking part in any other competitions, including playing for their country. Borisjohnson says he will work with Football Authorities to make sure the league doesnt Go ahead as planned. The owners of this club, | the owners of liverpool, the owners of chelsea, the owners of Manchester City theyre nothing to do with football in this country. There are 100 odd years of history | in this country from fans that have j lived and loved these clubs, and they need protecting. The fans need protecting. Borisjohnson has also been reacting to the plans for a new football Super League. We are Going to look at everything that we can do with the Football Authorities to make sure that this doesnt Go ahead in the way that is currently being proposed. I dont think it is Good news forfans, i dont think it is Good news for football in this country, and dont forget, these clubs are notjust great global brands, of course theyre global brands, they are also clubs that have originated historically from their towns and cities and local communities, they should have a link with those fans and with the Fan Base in their communities, so it is very important that that continues to be the case. I dont like the look of these proposals and we will be consulting about what we can do. And fans from all sides seem united in their opposition to the proposals. Im absolutely devastated this morning. Devastated. When i signed Up To support Manchester City they were a working class club, they were the butt of everybody s joke and we were up, down, left and right. Weve had years of blind loyalty. Weve spent thousands of pounds following our Team And Itjust feels like a complete and utter kick in the teeth this morning because although no other fan of any other club will feel sympathy for us, but its not about The Club, its about the fans in this situation. Its the fans who have dedicated their lives, dedicated their finances and this morning it isjust a complete and utter disgrace, for me. Im absolutely disgusted. I dont really know where to Go from here. I think quite a few city fans feel the same. Im absolutely disgusted. You ask any Football Fan about their best games that they have ever been to and its all the ones with peril, all the ones that mean something, all the ones where they have had to fight back or come back. You are talking istanbul, you are talking the barcelona game, youre talking dortmund, saint etienne, chelsea in 2005. All of that meant something because there was something at stake. Even tonight, liverpool are playing leeds and its really exciting because West Ham have dropped points, spurs and everton have dropped points and we are fighting to get into the top four and it means something. This idea that you cant be relegated, ijust think, who do you think you are . And for all of these football teams Going in it, like, what gives you the God given right to Go into this league and determine who are the top clubs . A lot of the anger from fans is directed at The Clubs owners so who are they . Arsenal are owned by american Billionaire Stan Kroenke chelsea are owned by Russian Billionaire roman abramovich. Liverpool are owned by american Billionairejohn W Henry and his fenway sports group. Man city are owned by Oil Billionaire Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al nahyan, a member of the Abu Dhabi Royal family. Man utd are owned by the american glazer family. And tottenham are owned by the british Investment Firm enic group. We can speak now tojoe blott, chair of spirit of shankly liverpools supporters Union. Good to have you with us. Whats your reaction to this news of this new proposed Super League . Goad new proposed Super League . Good afternoon, many new proposed Super League . Good afternoon, many thanks new proposed Super League . limp. Afternoon, many thanks to speaking to me. Absolutely horrified by this. Just listening to some of the comments there, the greed, total lack of engagement with fan groups, complete disregard for the Football Game as we know it. And this is just rich people getting richer, ten greedy Football Club is making themselves even more wealthy on the back of owners who are oligarchs or billionaires or venture capitalists and they need to remember this is a fans game, not theirs. You mentioned fans game, not theirs. You mentioned greed. Fans game, not theirs. You mentioned greed. Is fans game, not theirs. You mentioned greed. Is that i fans game, not theirs. You mentioned greed. Is that ultimately why you think the owner of liverpool Football Club is doing this . It has to be. Football club is doing this . It has to be they Football Club is doing this . It has to be. They will Football Club is doing this . It has to be. They will trot Football Club is doing this . It has to be. They will trot out Football Club is doing this . It has i to be. They will trot out something at some point about financial stability, but lets be honest, this is a multi billion pound Football Club, business, it can survive very easily and very safely. It does not need to do this and it is simply because they need more money, it is not about breaking the absolute sole of football as we know it, and the worst part of this for me is speaking to localfans, worst part of this for me is speaking to local fans, liverpool city, liverpool Football Fans and liverpool Football Club really believe they have something different in terms of the values they said, Football Club can turn values on and offjust because it has financial problems. It hasnt Got a financial problem but to break up Got a financial problem but to break up the Premier League, to break up the european league, is an absolutely disgraceful approach to take. I, i, i, i, take. I want to ask you one question. Take. I want to ask you one question. If. Take. I want to ask you one question, if, and take. I want to ask you one question, if, and i take. I want to ask you one question, if, and i know. Take. I want to ask you one question, if, and i know it. Take. I want to ask you one | question, if, and i know it is take. I want to ask you one i question, if, and i know it is a take. I want to ask you one question, if, and i know it is a big if, a lot of people are saying the Super League happen will never happen, but it it does happen will fans really be against it when they comes, there was a lot of objection to the Premier League and yet fans went to the games. That doesnt look too hopeful. I think, you are back, did you hear my question . Ijust wondered if the Super League did come about, would fans perhaps just swallow their distaste and Go to matches . I, ~ swallow their distaste and Go to matches . I, ,i, swallow their distaste and Go to matches . I, , i, , matches . I dont think so. This is a. Football matches . I dont think so. This is a. Football fans matches . I dont think so. This is a. Football fans dont matches . I dont think so. This is a. Football fans dont want matches . I dont think so. This is a. Football fans dont want to i a. Football fans dont want to watch liverpool play Real Madrid four times a year. We want to be in a competition, that is beset with sporting integrity, a league that has promotion and relegation, none of this fits with the Sporting Way that Football Fans want to do things. We want to get excited by the opportunity of being a top four, to get promoted, to have the chance of relegation, to this isnt Going to happen. This isjust a dressed up football Billionaires Tv multi billion Pound Lead Greed approach and it cannot be allowed to happen and i dont believe fans will accept it at all. Accept it at all. Good to talk to ou, accept it at all. Good to talk to you. Thanks accept it at all. Good to talk to you, thanks. Thank accept it at all. Good to talk to you, thanks. Thank you. Borisjohnson has cancelled his upcoming Trade Visit to india. This was his statement released this morning. It comes as a week long lockdown has been announced in the indian capital delhi, as coronavirus cases in the city continue to rise. More than 273,000 cases of coronavirus have been reported across india, with more than 1600 deaths, in the last 24 hours. There are also concerns about the indian variant of the virus here, with the country currently not on the uks travel Red List. Well, lets hear what borisjohnson had to say a short while aGo. The Red List is very much a matter for the independent Uk Health security agency. They will have to take that decision, but Narendra Modi and i have basically come to the conclusion that very sadly i wont be able to Go ahead with the trip. I think it is only sensible to postpone given what is happening in india, the shape of the pandemic there, countries Around The World including our own have been through this and i think everybody has Got a massive amount of sympathy with india and what they are Going through, and i want to stress that this, we are Going to be Going back, the relationship between the uk and india is of huge importance and i will be talking to Narendra Modi on monday and we will try to do as much as we can virtually, of course it will be frustrating but we will try and replicate as much as we can remotely, and i look forward to doing it in person as and when circumstances allow and hopefully before the Cop Summit in november and hopefully we will get Narendra Modi overfor the g7 injune. The headlines on Bbc News fury as some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, including Manchester United, Chelsea And Liverpool, announce plans to join a new breakaway european Super League with no relegation. Meanwhile, tottenham have sacked their manager, Jose Mourinho. They are seventh th in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Europa League last month. Borisjohnson cancels his Trade Trip to india amid rising covid cases in the country. Sport now and a full round up from the bbc sport centre. It has been a very busy morning and we are into the afternoon now where it is Going to kick off even further i am sure. Youll start more on the news ofJose Mourinho who has been sacked as manager of tottenham just six days before the League Cup final. Mourinho had been in Charge And Spur since November 2019 replacing Reggio Pochettino and signed a deal until The End of the 2023 season. The leaves of the Club Seventh in the table and five point of the Champions League places. Mourinho has my Coaching Staff have also been psyched with former player Ryan Mason taking training today. I suppose the timing is very unexpected given tottenham have Got a game against southampton on wednesday and then the Afl Cup final against Manchester City but then it is maybe not surprising because tottenham have taken just two points from three games, they have slipped to seventh in the Premier League, they are five points off the top four and that will increase if Chelsea And Liverpool when their games in hand, so i suppose it is a throw of the dice to try and resurrect Tottenhams Season which is in danger of sliding a white. Another story which has sent shock waves through the footballing world, proposals for a new breakaway european Super League which would see six Premier League size join forces with the bigger sides in europe to play a new midway competition. 12 including spains remedied and the chaplains have agreed tojoin so remedied and the chaplains have agreed to join so far, covering bodies including the Premier League and uefa vowed to stop the league Going ahead. Fans we have heard from this morning said they are disgusted by the idea well former Manchester City chairman david bernstein, who also led the fa, says he is ashamed of his former club. Six English Sides including City Chelsea and tottenham have agreed to take part. These sort of vague substantial clubs, everton, aston villa, newcastle, West Ham and villa, they are all being pushed to one side by a few clubs, one or two, frankly, who dont deserve to be called big clubs. Very substantial clubs. I mean, their performances really dont merit that. But i think we are undermining that whole basis of the Aspiration Part of football and the pyramid that we value so much. The dream of football is being undermined. Plenty more reaction on the website and there is coverage of the world snooker championship. The russian Prison Service says the countrys leading Opposition Activist, Alexei Navalny, has been moved to a prison medicalfacility, following days of concern about his deteriorating health. Mr navalny has been on Hunger Strike for three weeks, but he has not been able to see his own personal medical team. Heres our Moscow Correspondent Steve Rosenberg with the latest. The russian Prison Service has reported that Mr Navalny has been moved to a local hospital for inmates in the town of vladimir. The Prison Service said that his condition was satisfactory. It said that he was being given vitamins and being checked regularly by doctors. Thatjars a little bit with what his own medical team have been saying in recent days, theyve said that Mr Navalny s condition has been approaching critical. They said that he could suffer Kidney Failure and Go on to suffer Cardiac Arrest. Remember, hes been on Hunger Strike since The End of march, in protest at not being given access to his medical team, and he has also complained, suffering torture through sleep deprivation, claiming that hes been woken up on the hour every hour during the night. Certainly the message from the international community has been loud and clear in the last few days, whether we are talking about america or the eu or britain. That message is give Mr Navalny the medical care he needs and do not let him die in prison. We heard that from the united states, from the us national Security Adviser. A similar message from the uk, from the foreign office, and from the european Union. Closing arguments will begin today in the trial of the former american Police Officer charged with murdering George Floyd in in minneapolis last year. Derek chauvin denies causing Mr Floyds death, which sparked mass protests in the us and across the world. The outcome of the trial is being seen as a pivotal test of police accountability, as they face accusations of bias against black americans. For The First time ever a small helicopter has successfully launched on mars. The drone was airborn for less than a minute, but it represents The First flight of its kind on another planet. There were cheers in Mission Control at nasa as pictures of the small helicopter, taken by the martian rover, were beamed back to earth. It is hoped the technology will transform future space missions, allowing exploration of areas on planets that can not be reached by surface rovers. The Headlines Fury as some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, including Manchester United, Chelsea And Liverpool announce plans to join a new breakaway Super League with no relegation. The heart of the game, you know, its just ripping it out of us. Its all Money Orientated and everything, a load of codswallop. If you make it a closed shop, its completely unfair, it defeats the point of competitive football. I dont think that it is Good news forfans, i dont think it is Good news for football in this country. Meanwhile, tottenham have sacked their manager, Jose Mourinho. They are seventh in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Europa League last month. Borisjohnson cancels his Trade Trip to india amid rising covid cases in the country. Russias Opposition Activist Alexei navalny has been moved to a medical facility amid concerns over his health as he has been on Hunger Strike. The jury in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Police Officer accused of murdering George Floyd in the us, will hear Closing Arguments this afternoon. Nasa successfully flies a small drone Type Helicopter on mars The First powered flight on another planet. Theres been widespread condemnation of plans by some of europes top Football Clubs, including six from the Premier League to form a breakaway Super League. Miguel delaney is chief Football Writer at the independent. What do you make of this proposal for a european i think it is the most significant eventin i think it is the most significant event in modern football history. Latte event in modern football history. We are event in modern football history. E are talking about the unique unity of the sport and the pyramid that Goes from any Grassroots Club right up Goes from any Grassroots Club right Up To the Champions League for the World Cup itself. That has persisted for over a century of football. It is structurally broken for The First time. There will be immense effects from this. There has been some talk that this is stilljust from this. There has been some talk that this is still just a from this. There has been some talk that this is stilljust a bluff, it is a leveraging position. The very fact they make the announcement last night indicates we are passed out. From what i am told The Club is above the 100 committed to seeing this three. It really is a new world, in that sense. Tell this three. It really is a new world, in that sense. Tell us a little bit more world, in that sense. Tell us a little bit more about world, in that sense. Tell us a little bit more about what world, in that sense. Tell us a little bit more about what you j world, in that sense. Tell us a little bit more about what you have been told. We have spoken to several people this morning who are convinced that this wont Go ahead. The one thing i should stress from that point of view, if you speak to people in the Premier League, uefa, they think it could fall at The First legal hurdle. There will be legal challenges to this and itll be interesting how long this Goes through the courts. There are questions about whether it can work in that sense. It is as if some parts of the Concert Havent been talked through, right down to the supply of players and the production line. The money involved, obviously, jpmorgan have confirmed the part that they have in it and the 3. 5 billion that is Going to be made available. Also the immense global Fan Base that these clubs are. This is part of a much bigger issue for football. Some of the people most degrees today, justifiably, they do have some responsibility in this because for the past 30 40 Years Football has embraced capitalism more than any other sport. There has been no regulation. You only have to look at the ownership of clubs. It all built Up To the situation where all built Up To the situation where a handful of super clubs have developed such a financial size that theyre the only show in town. That is why they think this will work. They are confident that despite the criticism that once it starts everybody will get on board because it will be the big show in town. Lets talk about the departure of Jose Mourinho from tottenham hotspur. Sacked six days before a Cup Final. What do you make of the timing . I Cup Final. What do you make of the timint . A Cup Final. What do you make of the timint . ~ i i, i, timing . I think it illustrates that surs timing . I think it illustrates that spurs believe timing . I think it illustrates that spurs believe they timing . I think it illustrates that spurs believe they have timing . I think it illustrates that spurs believe they have a timing . I think it illustrates that spurs believe they have a Better chance of winning the Cup Final withoutJose Mourinho than with him. It is interesting. As we are talking about football Going into a new world, one of the most barefaced illustrations of greed, but as we Go into this new world there has been a decision thatJose Mourinho is old news. The two are connected in that sense. What the Super League purports to be and what has transpired over the last few years ofJose Mourinho because my career, Manchester United, he didnt win the league, he hasnt won anything at spurs, his methods dont work to the same effect any more. This is the primary reason. The players didnt respond to him. There was increasing unrest among the squad. There was only a handful of players who are positive towards him. One of them ironically was Harry Kane, we know he has been considering leaving spurs because of their future possibility to win trophies. Ultimately, The Club felt they had to act and it is solely down to results and results coming from the attitude of the players, who arent responding to this manager any more, like his methods. It has been a hallmark of the Jose Mourinho like his methods. It has been a hallmark of theJose Mourinho m came at so many clubs, it is a when results Go bad he doesntjust criticise the results, he criticises the overall ability of the players their characters. Hence, Theyjust Werent responding to him and that is where they have come to this decision six days before a Cup Final. Thank you so much. No problem, thank you. The scottish conservatives have launched their manifesto for the holyrood elections, pledging to rebuild scotland and stop another independence referendum. The partys leader, douglas ross, said creating jobs would be his Partys Priority in the next parliament. It isa it is a positive Policy Programme focused on rebuilding scotland after the worst year that many of us have faced in living memory. On delivering an economic recovery that stops widespread unemployment and creates Good jobs and growth in every part of our country. On supporting our education system, to catch up every single pupil from a year of disrupted schooling so that we dont face the prospect of our first microgeneration left behind. In funding first microgeneration left behind. Infunding our first microgeneration left behind. In funding our nhs to get through the backlog of the year of delayed operations. It is a programme that will ensure our recovery from coronavirus, yet our manifesto does so much more than that. It sets out theissues so much more than that. It sets out the issues that the scottish conservatives will fight for in the next parliament. For renewing our Justice System so it is finally on the side of the victims and not those who commit crime. For devolving Power And Funding to community so we can put an end to the area of snp centralisation, and Better support local services like schools and roads. Creating a dynamic, innovative green economy that works with business to drive the Skills Revolution and achieve our 2045 net zero ambition. If you were out and about over the weekend, particularly in england, you might be forgiven for thinking the pandemic could be coming to an end, but while thousands flocked to beer gardens and met up with friends and family, Surge Testing was also under way in london and elsewhere to limit the spread of the south african variant. Some scientists have questioned whether further restrictions will be needed to control cases, as Graham Satchell reports. Sitting outside enjoying the weather having a drink with friends. It is amazing how quickly the almost unimaginable has become almost normal again. Itsjust so nice to meet people again. Like, we have been stuck in our houses for such a long time. We cant really touch, we have social distance but its nice to be around actual humans. It feels really Good. I am enjoying Going back to socialisation. So Yeah, very Good. The relief that some restrictions have been lifted has been tempered for public health experts by the rise in the number of so called variants, or strains, of the virus. We are in balham in south london, where there has been an outbreak of the south african variant of Covid 19. It means half A Million people, everyone over the age of 11 here, has been told they need to take an extra test. Less than a mile up the road on clapham common, a pop up testing centre. There are centres like this all over south london. We have been advised it will help to know if there is a south african variant out there. So we thought we would do our bit and come and do some testing. Its very important to be able to locate if there is the south african strain and if there is any other strains, so that we can log onto. You dont mind being tested . No. I have done it many times. It becomes a routine and routine testing, even on a huge scale like this, will become the key part in the fight against variance. With case numbers now relatively low, and Testing Capacity high, it is hoped a proper Test And Trace can replace future lockdowns. Its so important that we are all getting tested regularly. This is the new contract that we will have as we work with the coronavirus to make sure that we are all getting tested regularly and acting quickly when needed. That is the model you see Going forward, more testing rather than more restrictions . In an ideal world, we ought to ensure we are testing more and getting everybody in the habit of testing frequently. Covid 19 variants remain a worry because they spread the illness more quickly and vaccines may not work as well against them. But here on the street, there is confidence. Are you worried about this south african variant . No. We have Got to start living our lives now. We are over the worst of it, lets get on with our lives. Are you feeling confident . I am feeling confident, yes. That confidence will depend on Mass Testing in the future when outbreaks do occur. Graham satchell, Bbc News, south london. People in australia and New Zealand can now travel between the two countries without needing to quarantine. The Travel Bubble has opened after more than a year of some of the toughest covid restrictions in the world. Our correspondent shaima khalil was on The First flight from australia to New Zealand. The scenes here in Auckland Airport have been quite Heart Warming and moving. Many hugs and kisses and tears ofjoy, passengers reuniting with Loved Ones they havent seen for over a year. Quite an emotional Day One of the Trans Tasman Travel bubble. I feel great. Ive missed my grandson and im so happy to see him. Im Going to Go home and give him the biggest hugs and feed him all the New Zealand food. Yeah, just great to see him. Everyones just really excited, everyone was friendly and chatting. And then when it landed, everyone clapped and, we are here, were back home. We are very fortunate to be able to do this. | Yeah, i understand a lot. Of people would struggle. Im just glad, just happy. The headlines on Bbc News fury as some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League including Manchester United, Chelsea And Liverpool, announce plans to join a new breakaway european Super League with no relegation. Meanwhile, tottenham have sacked their managerJose Mourinho. They are seventh in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Europa League last month. Borisjohnson cancels his Trade Trip to india amid rising covid cases in the country. Over 35 of people did some work At Home in 2020, an increase of 9. 4 compared with 2019. Thats according to new figures from the office for national statistics. Now, as companies look beyond the pandemic, employers are working out who should return to the office and when. For some, remote work could become permanent. Nina nanji takes a look at what this means for employees. Remember this . This is what an office looks like. During the pandemic, millions of people swapped their large, open plan offices for their living rooms. Now, some companies say their employees need never come back in. Facebook believes that remote work is the future. We think, in the future, were Going to increasingly take work to people versus me bringing people to work. We also want to give our Employees Choice to live and build lives in places that they love and we want to increase our ability to hire from places Around The World, notjust places where we currently have offices. But Isnt Everyone fed up of working from home by now . Some people must be desperate to get back into the office. Its really interesting, in our data, we are seeing some people are having an amazing experience while they are working from home and some people are really struggling. So the big Picture Takeaway is that this is a really, really personalised thing for people. Facebook estimates that more than half of its staff could work remotely in the coming years but it insists the move is not about saving costs and it says its committed to keeping its offices, like this one, open. Other tech giants, such as microsoft and twitter, have also indicated staff could stay remote, even after lockdowns ease. On wall street, they seem less enthusiastic about the idea. The boss of Goldman sachs rejected working from home as a new normal, labelling it, an aberration instead. There are also fears it could create more inequality. The problem is, if you are working from home five days a week, most of the rest of the team in the office, youre likely to lose out in terms of promotions and, you know, pay increases. And looking at the data, it is clear that we see a much higher share of particularly women and young kids, disabled people, people living very far from the office that look like theyre Going to choose to work from home for five days a week. For many companies, the answer probably lies somewhere in the middle, with workers splitting their time between office and home. The office does have a future,. We believe the future is hybrid, i we believe the future is flexible, i the demand for flexible workspace has just Gone through the roof. Just in the month of march, we are back to about 60 70 of pre covid levels. And, actually, huge amounts of companies that are demanding flexible space used to be traditional lease space, i now people want more and more flexible space than ever before. One thing is clear the world of work will look very different to how it did before this crisis. Nina nanji, Bbc News. More than Three Million households in the uk are reported to have Got a pet since the start of the pandemic, but for many dog owners the return to work means finding someone to look after their animal, and that can be a problem. Im Going back to work, i need help. I need help and i need it now. And now is a big problem if a little Puppy Hasnt been properly socialised because theyve been in isolation. We want people to say, im Going to work in three weeks, four weeks, five weeks time, not, im Going to work tomorrow. We are getting that people are ringing up, saying, can i do an Assessment Today and bring the dog, full 12 Hours Tomorrow . Jayne gasps. Which is not possible. Were working with a living creature here at the minute we need to think about the dogs feelings, notjust us getting back to work. Thats exactly what heather is doing as she prepares for the sad but inevitable separation from luna. Heather, tell me about your situation. Im constantly working from home at the moment and i will be, sort of as of next month, starting to Go back into the office one to two days a week to start with but that may increase to sort of three as time Goes on and obviously restrictions lift further. Bjorn is behind a report which calls for Record Companies to give songwriters a greater share of the money they earn from Music Streaming services. Always sunny. The fact that the artists stopped touring made them realise how little they were actually making from streaming. You know, they had made 70 perhaps from Touring And Merchandise and all of that stuff, and suddenly they had to survive on streaming. And i thought, you know, yes, welcome to the world of songwriters. My, my at waterloo, napoleon did surrender. Bjorn says abbas 1974 Eurovision Win brought financial security, and allowed him to develop as a songwriter although that triumph came without britains support. The Uk Jury gave you nil points. Do you think that was because they actually thought you were the song most likely to beat olivia newtonjohn, and they thought, were not Going to give them any points . Yes, because the brits were The First ones to embrace us, you know, after winning. So thejury could have, you know, could have been as cunning as that. Very likely, actually, because its kind of strange they would give us zero points. It sounds like they were trying to do something you know, something cunning. Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine, oh, Yeah. Next up for abba, an avatar tour, with digitised versions of the group from 1974 singing on a screen to a live audience.
