Good afternoon. Wales has become the First Uk Nation To Lift Travel restrictions within its borders, as Lockdown Rules are eased. The stay local rule has been scrapped from today, to allow Unlimited Movement within the country. Non essential travel to other parts of the uk is still banned and people are being urged to avoid crowding at beauty spots. Tomos morgan reports. Just as the weather takes a turn for the better, things have begun looking brighter in wales. The beaches of the gower and cardigan bay can now welcome visitors once again, as travel is allowed in wales. Having been in lockdown since the 19th of december, its a welcome relief to leave Merthyr Tydfil for this family. We started off this morning at 8 15am, the traffic was very good, weather was very good, we got down here at about quarter to ten and hopefully going for a walk on the beach shortly. A roll out of coronavirus Booster Vaccinations could happen as early as september, to combat the new variants of the virus. Some studies have also found they may offer some protection against variants first detected in south africa and brazil. Manufacturers are already working to tweak the vaccines, to combat new variants. And they, like flu, we could get Booster Shots annually, starting from possibly as soon as september for those over 70, health and care workers and people who are clinically extremely vulnerable. But Health Experts are still concerned about lifting Travel Restrictions to countries with high levels of infection, as that could risk the vaccination programme. It is uncertain and difficult to predict what is going to happen because we dont know what will happen with new variants as they emerge and that is why a cautious approach is needed. Going abroad is still off limits. The earliest people from england, wales, scotland could go abroad would be the 17th of may. Northern ireland has not announced its plans. To the youth who own the future, you should learn from the tragedy of earlier ugly deaths that you can be in danger of getting shot to the head and back. And in his address, myanmar s military leader, general min aung hlaing, promised the country would hold elections. Borisjohnson has described as disgraceful attacks on the police in bristol on friday night. Ten people were arrested in the city after officers took action to clear the third mass protest in the city in a week. Around 1,000 people had gathered to oppose law changes that would give police more powers to restrict demonstrations. Tim allman reports. For the third time in less than a week, Police Clashed with protesters on the streets of bristol. The demonstration had been largely peaceful, butjust after 10 00pm, officers told people to disperse and then they moved in. Wearing helmets and carrying shields, they moved forward trying to force protesters to leave. There appear to be minor scuffles with some officers using batons as they confronted the demonstrators. Police say projectiles, including eggs and glass bottles, were thrown at them and lasers were shone in their faces. Officers are trained in the tactics that they will use. We need to provide them with protection with the helmets and shields and the Protective Clothing that they wear, but when they are attacked with bottles being thrown, eggs being thrown, a Bicycle Pedal being thrown, paint being thrown, Police Horses coming under attack we need to respond effectively and robustly to that threat. All this happening close to bridewell police station. The scene of sundays first kill the bill demonstration. This was described as the worst violence the city had seen in many, many years. Last night, that anger was felt once more with protesters insisting their freedom to demonstrators being taken away but avon and Somerset Police said they would not tolerate violent disorder. Us President Biden has condemned a new voting law in georgia as outrageous, un american and an attack on the constitution. Republicans in the state passed the new law which tightens rules around voting including more requirements on photo id. State leaders said the changes would uphold the sanctity and security of elections. The president said they were measures clearly designed to stop Black Americans voting. Its an atrocity. If you want any indication that it has nothing to do with fairness, nothing to do with decency, they passed a law saying you cant provide water for people standing in lines while they are waiting to vote, you dont need anything else to know that this is nothing but punitive design to keep people from voting. You cant provide water for people about to vote . Give me a break. In response to the president s comments, georgias Governor Brian Kemp defended the new law. He said the new law ensures election integrity. And that there is nothing jim crow about requiring a photo or state issued id to vote by Absentee Ballot every georgia voter must already do so when voting in person, thats reference to jim thats reference tojim crow, of course, by the laws that in the some states, in the early part of the 19th and 20th century, to restrict the rights of Black Americans who had been freed from slavery after the civil war. Our north america correspondent, david willis, told us more about the new laws. If everybody if anybody wondered if donald trump would be left that out led by trumpism, it has been consistently maintained. The outcome of last yea r s consistently maintained. The outcome of last years election was fraudulent, he claimed, particularly in regards to the casting of post in mail in ballots, and in places like the state of georgia, Wherejoe Biden won by about a fairly slim majority, we donald trump has claimed that he was basically tricked out of victory. So even though he is no longer in office, there arent many republicans who support him, they have taken up this cause and they are now contesting the Election Laws and seeking to rewrite the Election Laws in more than a0 different states. Georgia is the first swing state to have pulled it off and they basically are making it off and they basically are making it harderfor it off and they basically are making it harder for people to vote, one particular regulation that is going to be introduced in elections next time around is seen as a particular chart controversial particularly controversial, is banning people from being handed out a food and water people lining up at polling stations. Of course, it gets very hot in the deep south, butjoe biden has called this an atrocity and donald trump has congratulated those georgia lawmakers and lead that they had learnt, clearly, from the travesty, as he called it, of the 2020 election. Some Breaking News now, and we understood that efforts were about to begin again in the suez canal to try and release the ever given, the huge ship that is as long as the Empire State Building is at all, it is enormous, and it got lodged in what can only be described as a rather messy three point turn in the suez canal, some of us know what thatis suez canal, some of us know what that is like it was trying to do it in the sandstorm last tuesday and it got got blocked. We have been told by the Suez Canal Authority that there are 321 ships now queueing to get through. He is giving a News Conference at the moment, not of course in english, so we are trying to get some lines out of that. The point is that that 327 ships represent the ships trying to get into the suez canal, and we have set ships beyond that backing up, there are other vessels that have made the decision not to even join the queue and are looking for the alternative route which takes you around the cape of good hope. Lets listen now. No, we are not hearing anything, in fact. Forgive me, i had an instruction that the microphones are being taken out, but in fact, there is not a translation, so we are going tojust bring is not a translation, so we are going to just bring you one of the line that they have given us which is that the chairman of the authority also says that 9000 tonnes of Ballast Water were removed from the track stranded ship, so they are trying to come if you like, like a rising tide raises all boats, they can liken lighten the load, they can liken lighten the load, they can increase the chances that the tide will also help dislodge it one way or another. That is still an optimistic hope. There was some prediction by the company involved, the japanese company, in the operations, then it would be freed by the evening time injapan, but i think that is probably looking optimistic now. The efforts are going to continue, and thats News Conference from the Suez Canal Authority chairman continues. We will bring you more from it as soon as we have the translation and we can get you some up to date advice. The upshot of that is that the ship is still stuck and nothing is getting through the canal for now. Its still an uncertain summer for Festival Organisers some have already postponed events to next year, whilst others are pressing ahead in the hope they can take place when restrictions lift. Organisers say a government backed Insurance Scheme to protect against the risk of losses, if a festival or concert is forced to cancel due to covid, would help immensely but currently theres no sign of that happening. Our Entertainment Correspondent Colin Paterson reports. This is where the uks Music Festival season is set to Start Everidge Park in kent. Its the oldest deer park in england and its the most fabulous place ever. And home of black deer festival. These two are long term friends who have now become festival bosses. Were like ant and dec, she always answers that question. After careers in radio and live music, they decided to set up their own event celebrating country and americana music, the black deer festival. The best new festival on the block. We won promoter of the year, music event of the year. We have really made our mark. Why so special . Wow, the fact its run by two women. Thats not true, there is loads of people involved. The festival is scheduled to start on the 25thjune, just four days after the date given by the government at the earliest time all legal limits on social contact can be removed in england. But debs and Jill Believe Black Deer will go ahead. This is the front of the main stage. This is where robert plant, van morrison will be. A little bit further this way. Here. And they are able to put everything in place because many people are asking to only be paid if it does happen. Suppliers are all aware of that so ordinarily we would have lots of deposits everywhere now, securing all of our kit, infrastructure for the festival. We have absolutely done that but everybody understands so everybody is halting payments, holding payments until. The bands . The bands, agents are, but theyve been great as well. We are working as a community, its unbelievable. Are either of your houses at risk . They always are one change is that travel Restrictions Mean the line up now is entirely almost made up of acts from the British Isles such as the first uk act to have a number one country album. They saying. During lockdown, they released a new album, invitation, it had to reschedule their tour three times so they are thrilled at playing the festival. It means the world to us and i think i can speak for so many other artists, so many other bands, the whole team, the crew, everything who have lost work this year. I think it means so much to so many people and for us, wejust cant wait to be back on stage. As performers, people didnt dare look forward to a live show because its been so far in the future, maybe we will be out but to have dates in the diary to actually look forward to is really exciting. However, a note of caution from the boss of the association of independent festivals. He believes the lack of a government backed Insurance Scheme will mean more cancellations in the next fortnight. Its an enormous risk for any independent festival to proceed with costs and lets bear in mind costs an average of over £6 million to stage an independent festival. I think probably the later you are in the small and the smaller you are, the more reason you have or optimism. Back at the black dear festival, optimism isnt something that debs and jill are lacking. It would mean the most to me to open the gates, people laughing and smiling and peoplejust the gates, people laughing and smiling and people just having the best time. I will cry. You will . I will be crying, yes.
