And thats very, very hard to come to terms with. 21 climate activists are arrested in london at the start of two weeks of global prostests by the Climate Group Extinction Rebellion. Coming up the hidden condition affecting thousands of women across the uk mps launch an inquiry into the debilitating impact of endometriosis. Good morning. Welcome to bbc newsroom live. The american businesswoman at the centre of a storm over her association with borisjohnson, has refused to say whether she had an affair with him while he was mayor of london. Jennifer arcuri received a number of grants and took part in trade missions while he was in office. She said he spoke at four events she ran, and came to herflat a handful of times, but insisted he never showed her any favouritism. Mrjohnson has said everything was done entirely in the proper way. Speaking on itvs good morning britain, ms arcuri refused to say whether they had an affair. The nature of your relationship is actually a matter of public interest. Its not. Categorically, boris had nothing to do with all my other achievements. Literally, someone has written down every single thing ive done london and found a way to drive that back to boris. Its absolute clap. 0k, were to come. This is why im not answering this question. We are going to take a short break, and listen, i respect your right. You can answer every question any way you see fit, but just for the record, youre not denying it . Im not answering, thats my record. 0k, well take a short. Dont my words like everyone else. No, im going to use. Your words are coming of your own mouth. Live on television. Thats the benefit. There can be no distorting them. Everyone can hear what they can hear. And obviously, you can shut down all that speculation by saying simply, its not true, i never had any intimate relationship with borisjohnson. You could do that, youve chosen not to. I respect that. It is also alleged that Jennifer Arcuris Company Received sponsorship grants due to herfriendship with mrjohnson something which they both deny. Heres ms arcuris response to those allegations. Its really categorically no ones business what private life we had or didnt have, and categorically more important, boris never, ever gave me favouritism. Never once did i ask him for a favour. Never once did he he write a letter of recommendation for me. He didnt know about my asking to go to trips. He only knew me as an extremely passionate. Jennifer, jennifer, he did write a letter of recommendation for you when you applied to run tech city. Youve already talked about that. No, he didnt. What was it that he did . Not at all fake news. Just for the record, youre not denying it. Im not answering. Thats my record. 0k, well take a short. Dont misuse my words like everyone else. The current london mayor, sadiq khan, has launched an investigation into the allegations at city hall, and the Greater London authoritys Oversight Committee has given mrjohnson 14 days ending this week to explain his relationship. Tom copley is a labour member of the Greater London assembly, and sits on the assemblys Oversight Committee. No, weve not had a response yet from borisjohnson. No, weve not had a response yet from Boris Johnson. I no, weve not had a response yet from borisjohnson. I believe he has indicated that he will respond, but of course, the issue is what are the contents of course, the issue is what are the co nte nts of of course, the issue is what are the contents of that response. If we are not satisfied with the answer is mr johnson provides, or indeed if he fails to respond, we have the power to formally summon him because he is for the mayor of london, and it would be a criminal offence if we issued a summons and he did not appear. Lets get more from our assistant Political Editor norman smith in westminster. The key question that tom copley says needs answered is, did he use his position to benefit a close personalfriend . His position to benefit a close personal friend . What emerged from this interview this morning on that . That question is still hanging out there. We dont know. I suspect team johnson, watching Jennifer Arcuris interview will have breathed a half sigh of relief. She firmly denied that she had sought any cash from him, sponsorship, favourable treatment. She insists she went on these trade trips on her own merits, that she never wrote a letter to support her application to be the ceo of this government backed tech company, so so far, so good. She put a lot more detail around their relationship. She described it as a very close bond the two of them shared. We now know that Boris Johnson visited her office, also her flat, up to ten times over a two year period, on his own, on his way home of an evening. So, they we re way home of an evening. So, they were clearly pretty close. Whether they had a sexual relationship or not, we dont know. Why that matters is because under the code of conduct for the london authority, if you have a friendship with anyone you are involved in accessing grants for oi are involved in accessing grants for or making decisions on behalf of, you have to declare it. The un joined part of this is, we do not know, and we still do not know, whether Boris Johnson in know, and we still do not know, whether borisjohnson in any way so to interfere or use his role to help get her on trade trips or to get grants. That level of the story remains unclear. What we do know is, she did not believe he did, but we are also clear that they did have a friendship. The question is now really are for the other enquiries which are ongoing, in particular the enquiry by the London Assembly, to establish whether there is a paper trail, and e mail, anything at all that would suggest that mrjohnson did act on her behalf in one way or another to help her get public money oi another to help her get public money or help her get on these high profile trade trips. Boris johnson is visiting a hospital this morning, and we expect he will speak to the media, so we will see if you response to what was said in the interview this morning. Away from that, we are getting ever closer to the deadlines around brexit. What is going to be happening this week . The worrying sign for downing street is, not much, in that the view of eu leaders is that the proposals mr johnson has put on the table are simply not acceptable because they dont like customs posts and they dont like customs posts and they dont like customs posts and they dont like giving the dup a veto. We have Emmanuel Macron saying to Boris Johnson in a phone call last night, if you want a deal, you will have to rethink, rethink quickly, have a new package by the end of the week. Talk to Michel Barnier and then we might be able to do something. The difficulty from the british governments point of view is that downing street believe they have made their big offer, they have said that basically we will accept half the backstop by allowing Northern Ireland to remain in effect in a regulatory alignment with the eu, albeit with a time limit. That is arabic in session and we think it is up arabic in session and we think it is up to the eu to move. We have a stand off with the clock ticking down. And so far, you have to say there is no sign of anyone budging. What does that mean . If there is no breakthrough this week, then the crucial summit the following thursday and friday is not going to agree a deal, which means we are in no deal land, with borisjohnson insisting we can and will leave without a deal, parliament saying, not so fast, we have got a law to stop you doing that. Answer, it may well upend up stop you doing that. Answer, it may wellupend up stop you doing that. Answer, it may well upend up end up in the courts. The extension rebellion protests are likely to rumble on day by day. This is a comparatively tranquil moment. They have been hammering on they are drums all morning, but for this conversation, they have decided a bit of quiet is in order. I expect ourfuture conversations will be interrupted by a lot of drums, whistling and noise, but that is what it is the extension rebellion protest. Pressure is growing on american authorities to return a diplomats wife who police want to question about a fatal Traffic Accident. 19 year old harry dunn died after his motorbike was hit by a car in northamptonshire. The suspect, named as anne sacoolas, left the uk despite telling police she did not plan to. Simon jones has more. Harry dunns parents say they have been trapped in a living nightmare since their sons death. He was killed along this road in northamptonshire near the Us Air Force Base that was home to a 42 year old woman being treated as a suspect in the case. The wife of a diplomat, she has left the uk despite telling the police she did not plan to. She is understood to be called anne sacoolas, though this has not been confirmed by the police. From mum to mum, knowing or believing that she is a mother, i wouldnt want to think that she put herself on that plane to go home to avoid what shes done, because i couldnt live with myself. The chief constable of northamptonshire police, nick adderley, has now intervened, saying on twitter. My optimism is not high. I said that in the letter that actually i know that is a privilege that can be exercised. I understand the political sensitivity around that in terms of protection for diplomats all around the country, but it wont stop us trying because its the right thing to do. Its an appeal echoed by harry dunns mother. Were not out to get her put behind bars. If thats what the Justice System ends up doing, then we cant stop that but were not out to do that. Were out to try and get some peace for ourselves. The Us State Department says its in close consultation with british officials and any request will be considered carefully but immunity is rarely removed. Its offered its deepest sympathies to harry dunns family. Simon jones, bbc news. Earlier, charlotte charles, harrys mother, told Victoria Derbyshire that she wasnt ready to forgive Anne Secoolas for going back to the us. She didnt purposely drive on the wrong side of the road, clearly. We assume she forgot which country she was in. A head on collision, harry didnt stand a chance on his motorbike. As experienced as he was, having covered over 50,000 miles in three and a half years, he was a very accomplished, very good rider. But being on the brow of a hill, you know, didnt stand a chance, but we know, didnt stand a chance, but we know it was unintentional from her, so know it was unintentional from her, so if she had stayed and faced our Justice System and us as a family, we could have found that forgiveness. We would have probably, we said to the police that we would try to get her death by dangerous driving prosecution that they were going for downgraded to death by careless. We would have tried to get her a suspended sentence so she could have carried on being a mum, so could have carried on being a mum, so that she wasnt taken away from her own children. But forgiving her for leaving, im nowhere near, not yet. And you can see the full interview on the Victoria Derbyshire Facebook Page and website. 21 climate activists have been arrested in london this morning after blocking roads and a bridge around westminster. The Extinction Rebellion protest Group Launched two weeks of global peaceful civil disobedience in a bid to encourage the government to cut carbon emissions. Demonstraions are taking place in 60 cities around the world, and dozens of activists have been arrested in australia. In sydney, police dragged away hundreds of protestors who blocked a busy road and charged 30 of them with committing offences. At the weekend hundreds of protestors occupied a Shopping Mall in paris, while others blockaded a road in delhi. Lets show you the scene live at lambeth bridge. Very quiet, unusual for london at this time, and it is because extension rebellion have shut down that bridge, and police are currently trying to basically ta ke are currently trying to basically take the bridge back, to get rid of the protesters on it. They are threatening to arrest anyone, citizens or protesters, who are on lambeth bridge. They have already made a number of arrests so far today. Dan johnson made a number of arrests so far today. Danjohnson is at the london protest. Dan, tell us the extent of what the protesters are doing in london. This is probably the biggest gathering we have seen so far this morning. There are a few hundred people here on whitehall in the heart of westminster, blocking it entirely. The traffic is having to turn around and head back towards Trafalgar Square, and there are other groups of protesters who are really just other groups of protesters who are reallyjust popping other groups of protesters who are really just popping up other groups of protesters who are reallyjust popping up in different sites around london, blocking roads, causing disruption, and this is the strategy. There is a group over here who have sat down in the middle of the road, blocking the traffic. I will see if we can have a word. The police are here in quite heavy numbers. Guys, can wejust word. The police are here in quite heavy numbers. Guys, can we just ask you what you are doing sat in the middle of whitehall today . We are doing a peaceful protest to draw attention to the fact that we are in attention to the fact that we are in a very, very serious existential climate emergency. It is peaceful but disruptive. You are blocking the traffic. We are really sorry about that. We do apologise for that. Why has it come to that, that you cant get your message across without causing that sort of disruption . No action we have taken. Ive been doing this for decades, and nothing has worked. Does that perhaps showed that people arent on your side, dont support you enough . No, no, its that. People. People are frightened, i think. Its that. People. People are frightened, ithink. They its that. People. People are frightened, i think. They will take notice with this kind of action this week . I hope so. What do you want to see . We want to see the three aims of Extinction Rebellion that the government takes action, declares a climate emergency, that actions are taken to get us to carbon zero by 2025, and to halt the loss of biodiversity that is happening. And that citizens assemblies are set up so that every person in this country has a voice about this emergency. What do you think of the targets the government has set so far . They are too far ahead. It is more urgent than they are actually taking action against. What else can we expect to see this week . Youll have to wait and see. More action like this . We dont know. We dont know. We dont know. That is the message, that there will be more of this sort of disruption next week. There is an ambulance trying to make its way through the crowd. That gives you an idea of the sort of disruption. It is being allowed through, the point is being allowed through, the point is being allowed through, the point is being made. They said they will make way for things like that. But they are protesting by causing some disruption this week. Thanks, dan. We will keep you updated. The United States says it is stepping aside for an imminent Turkish Operation against kurdish led forces within syria who, until now, have been a key us ally. Kurdish militias played a major role in defeating the Islamic State group, but turkey regards them as terrorists. The us which has hundreds of troops near the turkey syria border has reportedly begun to withdraw them. Our correspondent martin patience is in beirut with the latest. What is happening is, President Trump spoke to the turkish president late last night, and President Trump agree that American Forces would move out of that area of north east syria. The turkish president wanted that because he views the kurds fighting in that part of syria as terrorists. From the American Point of view, these same men have led the fight against the so called Islamic State group, so from their point of view, they believe that this is a com plete view, they believe that this is a complete and utter betrayal, and that they have been completely let down by their american allies. So, what is likely to happen . Again, we are waiting to see what moves turkey takes. It says it will invade that part of northern syria. We dont know how big the invasion is going to be. It might even be some kind of incursion, purely symbolic. But again, will the kurds then fight back . Lets not forget, it is the kurds who are Holding Around 70,000 Islamic State prisoners as well as women and children in that part of the country. What will they do . Will they simply release these Islamic State prisoners to go where they want . We simply dont know. What this is going to do is completely scrambled the equation in syria, with potentially unintended consequences. How significant is this that it is happening . Hugely. The kurds where our Firm American ally, and if you look in the region and worldwide, america has always said, we have got your back. Now the americans have said, we dont have your back. Many people rely on the americans that relying on the americans will be saying to themselves, in the long run, can we really rely on washington . What we have seen is donald trump saying america first. In the middle east, what he means by that is that he wa nts to what he means by that is that he wants to bring american soldiers home from the middle east, from places like afghanistan, back to america. He thinks that america should not be fighting other peoples wards. Thank you very much indeed. Some breaking news other peoples wars. Some breaking news to bring you about the Naga Munchetty row. The bbc sanctioned herfor the bbc sanctioned her for breaking impartiality guidelines with comments about donald trump. The bbc then reverse its decision on that because there was a lot of anger from staff and others, and pressure on the bbc about the way that the judgment was reached. Now, ofcom has come forward, saying it has received 18 complaints about the above programme, and the overall assessment from ofcom is that the programme was duly impartial. After carefully considering all of the contextual factors such as the format of the programme, the nature of the exchange and the specific remarks, we did not decide that the discussion would have breached the due impartiality rules. Neither the bbcs editorial complaints units full reasoning or the director generals reason for overturning the findings have been published by the bbc, ofcom says, and it says, we will be addressing the bbcs lack of transparency as a matter of urgency. So, more questions for the bbc from ofcom there, wanting transparency over the original decision on impartiality that was reached by the executive complaints unit, and also the director generals reason for overturning that. As far as the programme itself went, the original broadcast that gave rise to the complaint, ofcom says the programme was duly impartial, according to their assessment. Breaking news, we havejust had a Police Complaints Commission Report into the investigation over politicians allegedly involved in a child sex ring, and it all fell apart infairly child sex ring, and it all fell apart in fairly disastrous fashion, and it has been looked at. Lets bring in our home affairs correspondent, danny show. Remind us what they have been looking into. It isa what they have been looking into. It is a report by the office for Police Conduct. They were asked to look into the metropolitan police investigation, operation midland, investigating claims of a paedophile ring at westminster, claims that we re ring at westminster, claims that were made by a man known as nick, whom we now known is carl beech. The allegations were made up and he has been jailed allegations were made up and he has beenjailed for allegations were made up and he has been jailed for perverting the course of justice. What been jailed for perverting the course ofjustice. What the report shows is, it looked specifically at one aspect, whether a magistrate, a districtjudge, was misled when the police applied for warrants to search the properties of lord bramall, former army general, property linked to the former home secretary lord brittan, and Harvey Proctor. Those searches took place in 2015, and they looked at the conduct of those searches in the warrington and the warrants issued. They said there is no evidence that the police deliberately misled the district judge, but it found gaps in processes and systems, and it has made 16 recommendations, detailed recommendations. The two that really strike me are firstly to consider whether these hearings before the Magistrates Court to apply for search warrants should be recorded. Should there be an audio recording of those hearings . In the second point, which goes a bit further, relate to this culture that has developed in the police or believing victims when they come forward and make allegations. The ayo pc says, while acknowledging there is a fine balance to be struck, we would invite the Police Service to reflect carefully on and renew their efforts to balance the culture of belief at the time an allegation is recorded with a clear need to objectively investigate the allegations thereafter. That has proved to be highly controversial. Sir Richard Enrico is, who did an investigation into operation midland, a retired judge, was critical of this culture of believing victims and believes it took the metropolitan police on the wrong path because they were so fixated in the belief that the complainant, carl beech, was telling the truth that they ignored inconsistencies in his account, and evidence that undermined his account. Is any action likely to happen against any Police Officers . Where is that now . There is no action that will be taken against any Police Officers. Five officers were originally referred to the ayo pc. The most senior officer has now moved to the National Crime agency. There was no action taken against him. The other four officers have all retired from the metropolitan police, including kenny macdonald, the detective superintendent who uttered the words credible and true in relation to the account given by carl beech at the time. So, they have all retired and no action will be taken against them. There is a huge disquiet, it should be said, about the way iopc has conducted its investigation from Harvey Proctor. It has been said that the delays in producing the findings were inexcusable, and that the investigative process was minimal, unprofessional and flawed. The iopc has defended itself to those criticisms, saying it took over 1800 documents, 300 statements, and it was not a cursory exercise, but an independent and impartial investigation. Time now for a look at the weather with simon. It is quite cloudy across many parts of the uk. This is one of our weather watchers photos that we have had this morning. Theres a new man in charge of englands cricketers. Chris silverwood takes over as head coach from Trevor Bayliss after his four years in the top job. Hell take charge for englands tour of new zealand starting next month. Heres our cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew with more. He is fast bowler and played a handful of he is fast bowler and played a ha ndful of tests he is fast bowler and played a handful of tests for england and yorkshire. A very popular figure within the game and then moved into coaching like some players do. His very successful at essex. He got them promoted to the First Division in one yearand them promoted to the First Division in one year and actually to wind the championship the following year so thatis championship the following year so that is his credentials because england are looking to really tighten their focus on test cricket. While he hasnt coached a national tea m while he hasnt coached a National Team before, hes been very involved in bowling coach over the past couple years. It is that ability to get essex from the bottom to the top in consecutive years. I think it is very much in his favour as england focus on that. He was described as the outstanding candidate. Not the only candidate for the job but it should be a popular one because the players. It will be because they know him and like him. They might have to change emphasis a little bit when he gets this job full time. As bowling coach he is a most out there as one of the players. The main role isa as one of the players. The main role is a little bit different to that. Last week they thought this at the african was the favourite but with many of these coach now they dont wa nt to many of these coach now they dont want to spend the time away from home and they dont have to. They can spend plenty of money on the 2020 circuit and shortened to six weeks, three and four here and there and that is it. I think it was an issue about the months he had to spend away from home. I think take all that into account and silverwood clearly was the standout candidate. Thank you. I dont know about you, im not sure that there is not some video trickery here. I dont even think he is capable of that. Apparently it was only their second attempt. Thats all the sport for now. Ill have more for you in the next hour. New figures obtained by the bbc show that knife crime is rising at the fastest rate in areas outside of london in places such as norfolk, surrey and lancashire. Over a five year period between 2014 and 2018, offences involving knives in england and wales increased by more than two thirds. The home office says 20,000 new Police Officers will be recruited to deal with the issue. Heres our home affairs correspondent, sarah corker. Step into the sensationally stylish blackpool town ballroom. In the shadow of its famous tower, blackpool has some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in britain. There is a darker side to this seaside town. If someone started on me, id stab them. A lot of people bring knives, like, when we have fights, like. These boys are 14 and 15 years old. One told me hed been stabbed in the leg. He then showed me a picture of himself holding a machete at home. To protect their identities, their voices have been changed. Is it a normal thing for people to carry knives around here . Yeah, pretty much. Why do you think people are carrying knives . Protection. So if someone comes to you with a knife you pull out a knife as well. Then nothings going to happen. I know people carrying them. People how old . Ourage. 14 year olds carrying knives . 13 at the least, carrying one. Why would a 13 year old boy need to carry a knife . Protection. Protection from what though . From each other. At blackpool football Clubs Community trust, students are taught about the dangers of carrying knives. Lauren is 18, keeley 17. Both have been threatened. Me and my mate were walking home and a guyjust came out and threatened to stab one of my mates. He had a knife pointing to him. Do you feel safe going out . No. Ive got a friend threatened with a machete in the park by a group of lads when they were playing football, because they wanted to play in our half but we said no. Ashley hackett, who runs the trust, says the rise in knife crime is linked to drugs. We have a significant issue with county lines in blackpool and from that were having an awful lot of young people and adults that are now carrying knives. What is the youngest that youve come across . Weve come across eight and nine year olds carrying knives in the town. Serious knife crime here in blackpool has almost tripled over the last five years. County lines drug gangs, cuts to youth services, poverty, unemployment, exclusion rates at schools theyve all been linked to a rise in youth violence. 15 miles away in preston, byron is still living with the trauma of his brothers death. My brother was fatally stabbed in the neck. So ive got his name across my neck. Every time i look in the mirror, i get to see his name. Jon jo was stabbed by a group of men in this street after an ongoing feud. He was just 18 years old. It was a planned attack, wasnt it . Yeah, he was stabbed with a sword, a small axe, and he was beaten with a golf club. The whole country is suffering through knife crime. And little places like preston and these small cities like preston get no mention and were suffering just as much as everyone else in this country. The home office is recruiting 20,000 new Police Officers over the next three years to help tackle what byron describes as a war against knife crime. Sarah corker, bbc news. Heather nelson is from a leeds based Community Engagement organisation called black health initiative. All what is the situation with knife crime as you are dealing with it . The situation as we see it is that it is on the increase. The stats are correct and we are having younger people who are carrying bladed instruments either to protect themselves because they are in gangs or to protect themselves because they are not. How old are the youngest you are seeing . The youngest you are seeing . The youngest we are aware of is ten yea rs youngest we are aware of is ten years old. We know this because they are being recruited either to carry the bladed instruments or because they are part of a gang. We were just hearing in our report about the links of drugs because of county lines issues, you have mentioned gangs there, what do you think the main driverfor this in issues that you are dealing with . That does not seem to be any drivers, there are a number of drivers, they could be in gangs or it could be the people transporting the bladed instruments, not just outside transporting the bladed instruments, notjust outside of the county lines but within their own boundaries in their cities and it can be drug related. It is a number of factors why people carry bladed instruments and knives. Is that the younger kids are being made to carry them because they would not get the penalties that would apply to older people . Absolutely. They are less likely to be stopped and searched. It is unlikely to stop a nine year old on the way to school thinking that they are carrying a bladed instrument in their rucksack. What does your organisation do to try and stop this . What we do is multifaceted. We work within multi Agency Community foundations to look at the issues and see how we can work in various ways. Some of us are working with faith groups and getting adults, grandparents and parents to know what their children are doing. There is youth provision from other organisations. There is afternoon clu bs. Organisations. There is afternoon clubs. If we can keep the children occupied and off the streets they are occupied and off the streets they a re less occupied and off the streets they are less likely to be involved in the anti social behaviour and carrying knives. Obviously the same arguments and analysis has been made four years of how to support young people and stop them getting into this and it is getting worse. Why do you think that is . If you look around, there are less youth clubs. In leeds, we have very few youth clu bs. In leeds, we have very few youth clubs. There are very little after school activities. There have been cuts left right and centre. If we do not invest in our youths, what can we expect . When we look at the issue,is can we expect . When we look at the issue, is to is notjust in inner cities but in rural areas. It is about deprivation, poverty, lack of access to helping people reach their aspirations. We need to have a look and see how we are neglecting our youth. What hope is that for a nine or ten year old that gets caught up in Something Like this. We are hoping that we can get the nine and ten year olds before they get caught up ten year olds before they get caught up in Something Like this but if they are, we would ask parents and guardians to look and see what is different with the young people. Are they coming back with large amounts of money . Are they wearing new trainers and garments . It takes all of us to look and identify the potential and then worked towards addressing the whole issue. Thank you. Its often described as a hidden epidemic one that affects 176 Million People across the world. Endometriosis is a condition that can affect women from their teenage years and causes intense pain. More than 13 t who suffer from it in the uk have more than 13,000 who suffer from it in the uk have shared their experiences with the bbc they say it has badly affected their education, careers, relationships and Mental Health. Following the research, mps are today launching an inquiry into its impact. Broadcaster emma barnett has been speaking about living with the condition. I was iwas in i was in agony. The one constant thing was how much pain i was in. It was bone grinding. And yet, when i went to see doctors with my mum, they were to say that is just what some girls have. As someone who often interviews politicians i get a nswe rs often interviews politicians i get a nswers for often interviews politicians i get answers for a living, or i try my very best. I have failed to get a nswe rs very best. I have failed to get answers from doctors and i saw all sorts of doctors over the years. I did not know until the age of 31 that i had endometriosis. I had gone 21 yea rs that i had endometriosis. I had gone 21 years without diagnosis. Endometriosis is a condition in women where cells that represent either womb lining that should leave your body during a period dont and instead they stay within your body and attach themselves to different organs, building up legions and causing really difficult pain for women. In a larger study, the bbc has spoken to many women with endometriosis. Nearly all sedative had affected their career, sexual relationships and Mental Health. Half said its lead to suicidal thoughts. I am going to meet mum and daughter who both have endometriosis. I think people just think it is a painful period. I really wish it was a painful period andi really wish it was a painful period and i only had to cope with it once and i only had to cope with it once a month but we live with pain every day. Depression is a main part of endometriosis and it has been for us. I have been on antidepressants since i was 17 which is the same timei since i was 17 which is the same time i was diagnosed. At its worst, how bad it has it affected you . Sign market it affects everything. As i have been so poorly recently i have only been at home and i am exhausted every single day. Has it brought you closer . Yes, we understand each other. I have really good friends who i can speak to and say im struggling. No one really understands what im going through. You can understand but my friends do not. The same number have this condition as type two diabetes in this country but people dont talk about it. I never thought i would come on National Television and talk about it. It is heartbreaking to have spoken to victoria and jessica about living this joint life in agony but it really reinforces how important it is that if you recognise any of these symptoms that you go to the gp and you get a referral to a specialist. That you fight for treatment and a better existence. Lets go straight to borisjohnson. Iam here lets go straight to borisjohnson. I am here to talk about the nhs here in watford to hospital. It is a programme to do a big rebuild and refurbishment. Notjust in watford but in Hemel Hempstead and st albans. It but in Hemel Hempstead and st alba ns. It is but in Hemel Hempstead and st albans. It is part of the biggest investment in a generation. We are also talking about what we are doing to support Mental Health care with a new campaign called every mind matters. I think that is of vital importance because if you can address peoples Mental Health and demystify Mental Health issues then you can make people more confident about problems they may have with their Mental Health. I think you can also help to tackle their physical health as well. They both work together. I just health as well. They both work together. Ijust want health as well. They both work together. I just want to go health as well. They both work together. Ijust want to go back because there are fresh details at this morning. You have said everything i want to say and im very happy to talk about what more we are doing to support notjust watford but we have six new builds immediately, 40 new hospitals over the next ten years. The biggest investment in hospital infrastructure in a generation. When igo infrastructure in a generation. When i go round the wards here it is very striking that the staff are working unbelievably hard but there is no doubt that the facilities do need improving and, as i was saying last week, it is like asking a premiership footballer to play on a dire field and we can sort that out by investing in betterfacilities. We can have world class care and world class we can have world class care and world class hospitals. We can have world class care and worldclass hospitals. Im going to ask you about brexit if i may. European meeting to discuss your proposals. Is your proposal dead in the water . I think our proposal is fairand the water . I think our proposal is fair and reasonable. It respects the good friday agreement and the Peace Process in Northern Ireland. It makes sure there is no hard border and no checks at all at the border between Northern Ireland and ireland. It also goes further in allowing Northern Ireland and ireland to remain in alignment both for agri foods, cattle and so on, but also for industrial goods as well which is a big step forward. A big advance and compromised by the uk government. What we are saying to our friends is that this is a very generous, fair and reasonable offer. What we would like to hear from you now its what your thoughts are. If you have issues with any of the proposals then lets get into the details and discuss them. They are not under the finish per minister has said you are only starting to realise the mess that you are in Prime Minister. They are saying you have until friday to tell this sell this to people, how will you do that . I spoke to macron yesterday andi that . I spoke to macron yesterday and i think they can see there is an argument for pushing on and getting on for some substantive talks on the details of what we are proposing. We have gone a long way. We are talking about keeping Northern Ireland in alignment with ireland, by consent, whether over agri foods, industrial goods and standards. That is a big concession by the uk. The issue is, what is the eus objection to that. We havent really had the detail from them of what they think the problems are. It is time for us to get together and really thrash this thing out and i think we can. Just some questions from our colleagues. What are you going to do if they rule against you . We will study any judgments very closely as we always do. We will respect the law and we will leave the eu on the october the 31st. I think most people want to just get brexit done. The 19 year old who was killed. Is it right that diplomatic immunity should be used in this way . |j right that diplomatic immunity should be used in this way . I think everybodys sympathies are really with the family and our condolences to them for their tragic loss. I must ask you directly, i do not think it is right to give diplomatic immunity for this type of process andi immunity for this type of process and i hope that she will come back and i hope that she will come back and engage properly with laws that are carried out in that country. That is a point that we have raised orare that is a point that we have raised or are raising today with the American Ambassador in the uk and i hope it will be resolved very shortly. To anticipate a question that you might want to raise. If we cannot resolve it then i will be raising it myself with the white house. Boris johnson that a hospital in watford. Round up, finishing on a question about the wife of an american diplomat who has left the country american diplomat who has left the cou ntry after american diplomat who has left the country after being implicated in a fatal car crash that killed a motorcyclist harry dunn. You may have seen his family this morning. Borisjohnson was saying that he does not think it can be right that diplomatic immunity is used in a case like this and it is an issue that will be raised today with the Us Ambassador in the uk but if that does not get anywhere he will raise theissue does not get anywhere he will raise the issue directly with donald trump. He was also asked about his relationship with the american businesswomanjennifer relationship with the american businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri. You may have seen that the interview she gave this morning on good morning britain. He did not answer the question directly of his relationship with her and whether he used his position to help her. He sidestepped that and went on to talk about the nhs and of course brexit and he reiterated his position that the government has put forward its position and it is now for the eu to compromise. Lots more coming up. We have had a bit of rain around. This morning it was quite wet around parts of england and wales a lot of that rain has started to clear away but we have quite cloudy weather at the moment. That was the scene in kent will stop not too far away in east sussex there is some sunshine coming through in those cards. We have low pressure towards the far north and west of the uk. These weather fronts which are bringing some patchy rain over the course of this morning. This afternoon as this weather system continues to move east it will pack up a little bit. You can see the rainfall here and it is starting to get a little bit heavier this afternoon. As it clears, there will be some brighter skies developing towards the north and the west. Still some showers across the north and the west of scotland. Some gusty winds especially in the north of scotland, 50 or 60 mph. Temperatures are about average for this time of year. This evening, that rain will clear away from england as we go through the night and there will be some clear spells. Some showers across scotland into Northern England. There are coming in because of this front. This basically means that we will see a bit of organisation to the showers. Some lengthy spells of rain especially in scotland and Northern Ireland. You can see this band which is moving. There will be some sunshine at times but against them blustery conditions. Stronger winds for england and wales up to scotland. Some gusts of maybe 40 or 50 mph. Temperatures 13 to 17 celsius. Low pressure is still there and in charge of our weather at the moment. This is continuing to push its way eastward and again that means that we will see some sunshine and showers. Some of the showers will be quite heavy at times. They will be quite heavy at times. They will merge into longer spells of rain, particularly across western areas. Temperatures again 13 to 15 degrees. For the rest of the week, there is a into the weekend, more showers in the forecast. Some sunny showers, temperatures 14 to 17 degrees. Typical autumnal weather. What we would expect to see in october. Goodbye. Investigation. Time now for a look at the weather with simon. Youre watching bbc newsroom live. Its midday and these are the main stories this morning american businesswoman jennfer arcuri refuses to say whether she had an affair with borisjohnson when he was mayor of london. Just for the record, youre not denying it . I am not answering. That is my record. Did you break the gla code of conduct . Know, and ive said all im going to say on that matter. Coming up the hidden condition affecting thousands of women across the uk mps launch an inquiry into the debilitating impact of endometriosis. Good afternoon. Welcome to bbc newsroom live. Im joanna gosling. The american businesswoman at the centre of a storm over her association with borisjohnson has refused to say whether she had an affair with him while he was mayor of london. Literally, someone has written down every single thing ive done in london and found a way to drive that back to boris. Its absolute clap. Ok, were to come. This is why im not answering this question. We are going to take a short break, and listen, i respect your right. You can answer every question any way you see fit, but just for the record, youre not denying it . Im not answering, thats my record. Ok, well take a short. Dont misuse my words like everyone else. It is also alleged that Jennifer Arcuris Company Received sponsorship grants due to her friendship with mrjohnson, something which they both deny. Ok, well take a short. Dont misuse my words like everyone else. The current london mayor, sadiq khan, has launched an investigation into the allegations at city hall, and the Greater London authoritys Oversight Committee has given mrjohnson 14 days ending in 48 hours time to explain his relationship. Tom copley is a labour member of the Greater London assembly, and sits on the assemblys Oversight Committee. No, weve not had a response yet from Boris Johnson. I believe he has indicated that he will respond, but of course, the issue is what are the contents of that response. If we are not satisfied with the answers mr johnson provides, or indeed if he fails to respond, we have the power to formally summon him because he is for the mayor of london, and it would be a criminal offence if we issued a summons and he did not appear. In the past few moments the Prime Minister was asked about ms arcuris interview this morning. Lets hear what we had to say. There are fresh details this morning saying that you visited her home repeatedly. What do you have to say about what she has said . repeatedly. What do you have to say about what she has said . I have said everything i want to say about that. Lets get more from our assistant Political Editor norman smith in westminster. Where are we now with this, norman . I think we have, frankly, a lot more questions still swirling around, because although we had that pretty straight down the line series of denials from Jennifer Arcuri about whether Boris Johnson denials from Jennifer Arcuri about whether borisjohnson intervened on her behalf to help her secure grants or places on trade trips or lucrative government positions on that tech company, we also now know that tech company, we also now know that actually, they had what she calls a close bond. She was, shall we say, more than a friend. He texted her, came round to visit her ten times in her office orflat, so there clearly was a friendship. Why that matters is because under the code of conduct for the London Assembly, if you have a friendship with someone who you are also in any way responsible for in terms of gra nts way responsible for in terms of grants or places on trade trips, you have to declare it. And obviously, borisjohnson has declared nothing. What we dont know is whether there isa link what we dont know is whether there is a link between the two, in other words, whether borisjohnson did intervene on her behalf. Clearly, borisjohnson does intervene on her behalf. Clearly, Boris Johnson does not intervene on her behalf. Clearly, borisjohnson does not want to give any further oxygen to the story. He just wants to shut it down. Its not going to go away, though, because there are four separate investigations under way to establish whether mrjohnson did actually intervene on her behalf, and by tomorrow, he will have had to present any documentation or papers relating to the cash she received, which might in any way suggest he had a role. And if he doesnt, we are told that the London Assembly can summon him, legally. They can force him to attend and answer questions. Although mrjohnson clearly doesnt want to go there, this is, it seems to me, not yet over, despite the defence of his conduct today byJennifer Arcuri. Also, brexit dominating this week as we get ever closer to various deadlines. What is going to happen, do you think . We are waiting, frankly, to see whether anyone blinks. By that, i mean that the eu have said clearly, look, we dont think much of your package, you will have to rework it, and by the way, you only have until friday. If you wa nt to you only have until friday. If you want to talk, dont expect meetings with key eu leaders, you have to go through Michel Barnier. It is the rebuff from the eu, but there has also been a rip from downing street. They said, we have made a big offer and a compromise by in effect saying that Northern Ireland will stay in the eus Single Market for good. That is our big compromise. It is up to you guys to move. The trouble is, no one seems in the market to blink, and if they dont, that means we are heading to next weeks crucial summit without any possible deal on the table, which means we are heading ever more remorselessly towards a huge bust up over no deal, with Boris Johnson towards a huge bust up over no deal, with borisjohnson again this morning saying that we are leaving on the 31st of october, come what may, and his opponents in parliament saying, hang on, we passed a law to stop you doing that. It seems to me thatis stop you doing that. It seems to me that is where the next crunch is likely to come, if neither the eu nor likely to come, if neither the eu noer likely to come, if neither the eu nor mrjohnson blink in the next week. Thanks, norman. Media watchdog ofcom has said it has serious concerns around the transparency of the bbcs complaints process following its handling of the Naga Munchetty case. The bbcs director general lord hall recently reversed a decision to partially uphold a complaint against the bbc breakfast host for comments she made about us president donald trump. The regulator said it would not investigate complaints about munchettys comments and the bbcs subsequent handling of the situation, but that it will be addressing the bbcs lack of transparency as a matter of urgency. Lets get more on this, we can speak to our entertainment correspondent colin paterson. So, tell us more, then, colin, about why ofcom has got involved in this and what they have said. They have a weekly media bulletin which presents the results of their findings. Ten pages on Naga Munchetty, the case that has made so many headlines in recent weeks. What they have said this morning is that they do not have any complaints against Naga Munchetty. Their concerns are with the bbc complaints procedure itself. The easiest thing is to read you what they say on the part of naga and what she said back injuly. It says that impartiality rules are vital for says that impartiality rules are vitalfor maintaining says that impartiality rules are vital for maintaining levels of trust in broadcast news. We took into account the format of the programme and the nature of the exchange. It was Naga Munchetty and dan walker. Our assessment is that it would not breach broadcasting rules and does not warrant investigation, so as far as ofcom are concerned, Naga Munchetty is absolutely in the right. They then go on to criticise the bbc complaints procedure, saying, we have concerns around the transparency of the complaints process which must command the confidence of the public. We will require the bbc to be more transparent about its processes and compliance findings as a matter of urgency. There we have it ofcom coming down and criticising the bbc complaints procedure, absolutely not Naga Munchetty. Thank you very much, colin. 21 climate activists have been arrested in london this morning after blocking roads and a bridge around westminster. The Extinction Rebellion protest Group Launched two weeks of global peaceful civil disobedience in a bid to encourage the government to cut carbon emissions. Demonstraions are taking place in 60 cities around the world and dozens of activists have been arrested in australia. In sydney, police dragged away hundreds of protestors who blocked a busy road and charged 30 of them with committing offences. At the weekend hundreds of protestors occupied a Shopping Mall in paris, while others blockaded a road in delhi. Our correspondentjon donnison is at the london protest. One bridge was closed earlier lambeth bridge. What is the latest on the impact of these protests in london . The impact is escalating. We are in Trafalgar Square, one of 12 sites in and around westminster. If we look around, you can see that Trafalgar Square has been completely blocked in all directions. We have a protest on the side. If you follow me around, the road towards whitehall is also blocked. At the moment, it certainly looks like this protest is escalating. The numbers we re protest is escalating. The numbers were small in the morning, but there are around 1000 people at Trafalgar Square alone. And dozens of people have been arrested. I have one of the Organisation Team here from Extinction Rebellion. What are you hoping to achieve today, molly . We are hoping to meet our demands clear to government and to parliament that we are here, not going away, rebellion is carrying on despite anything that happened over the weekend. We need government and parliament to take action. What are the demands . The government and media need to tell the truth about the crisis. We are demanding net zero greenhouse emissions by 2025. And we want to set up as Citizens Assembly to come up with the solutions we need before 2025. You had big demonstrations in april did that achieve anything . In some ways it did. What you can see today is one of the best things we achieved. Our support has grown massively, and thats an amazing start. In april, the government, the parliament, declared a climate emergency, but it was lip service andl emergency, but it was lip service and i havent put anything into action, nowhere near the level we need, so we are demanding they take the action required. To people who say you are Wasting Police resources , say you are Wasting Police resources, and owing a lot of drivers trying to get get around the city . We are sorry we are causing that inconvenience, but the disruption we are causing now is nothing compared to what is happening over the world already in what will happen because of this crisis. Thank you very much indeed. This protest is set to continue throughout the day and then for a further two weeks. Thank you. All the latest news coming up on the bbc news channel. Sport now. Here is holy. There is a new man in charge of englands cricketers, current bowling coach chris silverwood, who has taken over from Trevor Bayliss after his four for yea rs Trevor Bayliss after his four for years in the top job. He takes charge of the tour of new zealand next month. Here isJonathan Agnew with more. He is a formerfast bowler who played a handful of test for england. He played for yorkshire for england. He played for yorkshire for a long time. A popularfigure within the game who moved into coaching, like some players do, and he was very successful at essex, getting them promoted to the First Division in one year, and to win a championship the following year. That is his credentials, really, because england are looking now to tighten their focus on test cricket. While he hasnt coached a national tea m while he hasnt coached a National Team before, he has been involved with bowling coaching in the last couple of years, but it was that ability to get essex from the bottom to the top in consecutive years that will have counted in his favour as england focus on test cricket now. The policing watchdog says there were gaps and shortcomings in the way the metropolitan police applied to a court for warrants to Search Properties during its inquiry into an alleged paedophile ring at westminster. But the independent office for Police Conduct says none of the met officers deliberately excluded information from the court as our home affairs correspondent, danny shaw explained a little earlier. It found there was no evidence that Police Officers had deliberately misled the districtjudge, but it did find gaps in processes and systems, and it has made 16 recommendations. Some detailed recommendations. Some detailed recommendations. The two that really sort of strike me, thatjump off the page, orfirstly to sort of strike me, thatjump off the page, or firstly to consider whether these hearings before the Magistrates Court to apply for search warrants should be recorded, so should there be an audio recording of those hearings . And the second point, which really goes a bit further, relates to this culture that has developed in the police or believing victims when they come forward and make allegations. The iopc says that while acknowledging there is a fine balance to be struck, we would invite the Police Service to reflect carefully on and renew their efforts to balance the culture of belief at the time an allegation is recorded with a clear need to objectively investigate the allegations thereafter. That has proved to be highly controversial. So Richard Enrico is, retired high court judge, so Richard Enrico is, retired high courtjudge, was very critical of believing the victims and believe this took the metropolitan police on the wrong part because they were so fixated on the belief that the complainant, carl beech, was telling the truth that they ignored inconsistencies in his account and evidence that undermined his account. Are any Police Officers having action taken against them . There is no action that will be taken against any Police Officers. Five Police Officers were originally referred to the iopc. One of them, the most senior officer, has now moved to the National Crime agency. There was no action taken against him. The otherfour there was no action taken against him. The other four officers there was no action taken against him. The otherfour officers have all retired from the metropolitan police, including kenny macdonald, who is the detective superintendent who is the detective superintendent who uttered the words credible and true in relation to the account given by carl beech at the time. So, they have all retired, so no action will be taken against them, but there is a huge disquiet, it should be said, about the way that the iopc has conducted investigation, from Harvey Proctor and his legal team, and also the retired judge, who is writing in the daily mail today, and said firstly that firstly the delays in producing the findings were inexcusable, and also said that the investigative process was minimal, unprofessional and flawed. The iopc has defended itself to those criticisms, saying it took over 1800 documents, 300 statements and that it was not a cursory exercise but an independent and impartial investigation. Police have released a photograph of the teenager who stabbed a solicitor to death, now that he has turned 18. Ewan ireland killed 52 year old peter duncan at a busy Shopping Centre in august, using a screwdriver he stole from poundland. Newcastle crown Court Previously heard that the father was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time when he crossed paths with the teeanger, who already had a history of violence. The Prime Minister says he will personally intervene with the white house after an american diplomats wife claimed diplomatic immunity, leaving britain after a fatal car crash. 19 year old harry dunn died when his motorcycle was in collision with a car in northamptonshire in august. Anne sacoolas left the uk despite telling police she had no plans to. Mrjohnson has now said if the issue cant be resolved he will raise it himself. But being on the brow of a hill, you know, didnt stand a chance, but we know it was unintentional from her, so if she had stayed and faced ourJustice System and us as a family, we could have found that forgiveness. We would have probably, we said to the police that we would try to get her death by dangerous driving prosecution that they were going for downgraded to death by careless. We would have tried to get her a suspended sentence so she could have carried on being a mum, so that she wasnt taken away from her own children. But forgiving her for leaving, im nowhere near, not yet. The United States says it is stepping aside for an imminent Turkish Operation against kurdish led forces within syria who, until now, have been a key us ally. Kurdish militias played a major role in defeating the United States says it is stepping aside for an imminent kurdish militias played a major role in defeating the Islamic State group, but turkey regards them as terrorists. The us which has hundreds of troops near the turkey syria border has reportedly begun to withdraw them. Our correspondent martin patience is in beirut and has more details. What is happening is, President Trump spoke to the turkish president late last night, and President Trump agree that American Forces would move out of that area of North Eastern syria. The turkish president wanted that because as you we re president wanted that because as you were saying he views the kurds fighting in that part of syria as terrorists. From the American Point of view, these same men have led the fight against the so called Islamic State group, so from their point of view, they believe that this is a com plete view, they believe that this is a complete and utter betrayal, and that they have been completely let down by their american allies. So what is likely to happen . Again, we are waiting to see what moves turkey takes. It says it is going to invade that part of northern syria. We dont know how big the invasion is going to be. It might even be some kind of incursion, purely symbolic. But again, will be kurds then fight back . Lets not forget, it is the courage that are Holding Around 70,000 Islamic State prisoners, as well as women and children, in that pa rt well as women and children, in that part of the country. What will the kurds do . Will they simply release these Islamic State prisoners to go where they want . We simply dont know what this is going to do. It has completely scrambled the equation in syria, with potentially unintended consequences. How significant is it that this is happening . Hugely significant, because the kurds were a very strong american ally. If you look in the region and worldwide, america has always said, weve got your back. Now what has happened to the kurds is, america has said, we dont have your backs. Many people who rely on america will say to themselves, hang on, in the long run, can we really trust was sitting washington over this issue . We have seen donald trump saying america first, and by that in the middle east, what he means is that he wants to bring american soldiers home from the middle east, from places like afghanistan, back to america. He thinks that america should not be fighting other peoples wars. This years nobel prize for medicine has been awarded to the british scientist, sir peter ratcliffe, and the americans, William Kaelin and gregg semenza, for their work on how cells adapt to oxygen availability. In its citation, the Nobel Assembly said the laureates revealed the mechanism for one of lifes most essential processes. Their work is leading to new treatments for anaemia and cancer. Now, its time for a look at the weather. Its an unsettled week of weather thatis its an unsettled week of weather that is under way. It will be wet at times, its blustery. Temperatures holding up in the breeze. No frost this week. Tomorrow, there is sunshine but there are showers. Some heavy and thundery to western scotland, a few pushing further east across the uk on gusty winds. Not a wash out because there will be sunshine around the showers. An indication of how blow we it will be tomorrow, and all week, with low pressure close by. Temperatures around the mid teens, and that is where they will be all week. That is where they will be all week. That is where they will be all week. That is where they will be all week. Thats your forecast. Hello, this is bbc newsroom live with joanna gosling. The headlines the american businesswoman, Jennifer Arcuri, has refused to comment on claims she had an affair with Boris Johnson when he was mayor of london. Just for the record, youre not denying it . I am not answering. That is my record. Did you break the gla code of conduct . No, and ive said i think everything im going to say on that matter. The independent office for Police Conduct says Police Officers didnt deliberately mislead a judge over claims of a vip westminster paedophile ring but there were shortcomings in the investigation. 21 climate activists are arrested in london at the start of two weeks of global protests by the Climate Group, Extinction Rebellion. Borisjohnson says he will personally speak to the white house about withdrawing the diplomatic immunity of an American Woman who left the uk after a road Traffic Accident in which a 19 year old man died. Youtube has deleted more than 100 videos for breaching their policies on nudity and Sexual Conduct following an investigation for the bbcs panorama programme. The videos were published by so called pick up artists who claim to teach what they call seduction techniques, in face to face training sessions and by uploading encounters to youtube that they say theyve secretly recorded with women, including audio of them having sex. Myles bonnar went undercover on one of the companys so called seduction boot camps where students are taught that the lines of consent can be blurred in pursuit of picking up unsuspecting women. Lets take quick look at what that experience was like for you. That was myles, he is here with me. That was myles, he is here with me. That was myles, he is here with me. That was clearly uncomfortable experience, tell us more about what was happening. Yes, it was. That was during a seduction boot camp, run by a Company Called street attraction. That was the lead code encouraging me to approach someone that i felt was too young. That was a common theme to the whole weekend of this a bit camp, there was five of us, there that was called a cold approach, that is learning to stop a young woman and getting her to listen to you so you can try and pick them up. So you went undercover and attending one of the boot camps in london, what did you witness that they are . I witness a relentless code approaches like that. I seen coaches and students target young women, some of which are teenagers. There is a 16 year old targeted at one point. As a 31 year old, ifelt very uncomfortable around out. We also got hot seduction theory, which includes something called a last minute resistance, which is regarded as a womens token attempt to say no to sex, they see that as something that can be overcome by methods. What about the women approach, that you managed to talk to any of them away from approaching them in the cold conversation that you will be in court . There was a pick up artist based in glasgow that i had investigated. I managed to track down a woman who had been cold approach and filmed, she only knew she had been when i called her to ask out about it. She told me how that felt to be on camera for the documentary tonight to stop we have a clip of it, that is bad language and at there. That that is bad language and there. I did spend the first couple of minutes in that video kind of looking down at my phone and breaking eye contact. This the ridiculous thing is, in that entire the ridiculous thing is, in that entire conversation, i am trying to figure out a way to let him down gently. We dont want to be called a bitch for rejecting someone, we dont want to be called we dont want to be called rude forjust closing an interaction down. He later boasted in his video that he could easily have taken things further and with emily. If i had met her on holiday, it would have been a same day lay. Lease at what has been the response to your investigation from the company . I went back to another one of that winding becomes to speak to them face to face, i brought up the fa ct them face to face, i brought up the fact that they seem to pose apparent sexual ordeal, which seems to have been recorded without consent. Sexual ordeal. They denied that those videos existed, and explained they had never pressurise women into having sex and the fact that i was out there has been thought at the bit camp wasnt the case. One of the coaches actually mention it was an art that i was a misunderstanding. Did you speak to other people sign up did you speak to other people sign up to this cause and what they were expecting from it . It is one thing feel uncomfortable approaching someone, if you want you can get someone, if you want you can get some tips, you were uncomfortable with some of the things you were told. Do think they knew what they we re told. Do think they knew what they were signing up for . |j told. Do think they knew what they were signing up for . I think the vast majority with me knew what they we re vast majority with me knew what they were signing up for and by very happy to go along with it. There was the odd person that i felt at times we re the odd person that i felt at times were thinking that this was maybe a bit more than they could handle. It was relentless. I think some felt it was relentless. I think some felt it was going a little bit too far at some point. Give us the details of your programme. Yes, it will be on bbc one tonight at 8 30pm. Passengers who had their thomas cook holiday cancelled can apply for a refund from today. The Civil Aviation authority is expecting applications from around 800 thousand people. It says its website is facing Unprecedented Demand so if people are having trouble submitting claims today, they should try again tomorrow. The final flights to bring home stranded holidaymakers who were abroad when the company went bust arrived back in the uk this morning. Heres katie prescott. As the last flights land carrying most of the stranded thomas cook passengers home, the airline regulator is turning its mind to helping those whove paid for future holidays. The largest ever travel refund programme is getting under way, dealing with around 360,000 bookings that were cancelled when the travel company went under. This covers trips that are underwritten by the industrys insurance scheme, atol, managed by the Civil Aviation authority. A dedicated website launches this morning to process these claims. And for many, this moment cant come soon enough. When it comes to getting the money back, theres nothing you can do, you can only wait. But at least youre going to get something back. And in the meantime well have to try and find the money from elsewhere to fund this holiday, you know, to pay for the next holiday until we get that reimbursed. Everything that was paid for as part of a package will be covered, but any extras such as Airport Parking or car hire will have to be claimed for on insurance. The caa says all refunds should be issued within 60 days of a form being correctly submitted. Katie prescott, bbc news. Scientists think they have managed to date a massive flare that originated from the centre of the milky way. This is an artists impression of the so called sifter flare which some scientists claim ripped through the galaxy 3. 5 ago in the middle of a super massive black hole. Researchers say the impact was felt 200,000 light years away. Joining me now is professor joss bland hawthorn, from the university of sydney, who led the study. Can you explain what ijust said in a really clear language . It is a sifter flare player, he a really clear language . It is a sifterflare player, he was a really clear language . It is a sifter flare player, he was a physicist. Most galaxies have supermassive black holes in their centres, they are invisible, what you do see as gas and stars falling into the black hole, rather like water going down a plug hole, it goes into a spin around the black hole, getting to hot that it starts to blast jets, bubbles hole, getting to hot that it starts to blastjets, bubbles and hot wind into the surrounding galaxy. We look out into the universe, we see thousands of galaxies, very few of them seem to have this at any moment in time. We have lost our communication with you for a moment, hopefully, we can keep going. Just explain how you end up being able to see something that happened 3. 5 million years ago . So, 3. 5 mount yea rs million years ago . So, 3. 5 mount years ago, our galaxy exploded at the centre. The black hole is invisible but the class around it is visible, it heats up and generates a gigantic flashlight, a beam of radiation goes out into the galaxy. And we see that you echo, where at this beam of radiation has heated up gas clouds above and below the black hole. When the impact was felt 200,000 light years away, explain that . We use the Hubble Space Telescope to look at gas around the galaxy, that is a stream of gas that goes right around the galaxy, it is the lagging behind other galaxies kneeling around us. This stream of gas, like the condensation of a jet aircraft, goes right around the galaxy. Using the hubble telescope, we found a region of very hot gas above and below the milky way disc
