Jair bolsonaro of lying over his Boris Johnson has joined World Leaders in expressing his deep countrys stance on Climate Change. Bit by bit, singeing away these fires have been growing rapidly in number the lush vegetation. Over the last year. Bit by bit, singeing away climate campaigners are worried that brazils president , Jair Bolsonaro, the lush vegetation. Is allowing small farm holders climate campaigners are worried that brazils president , Jair Bolsonaro, to start the fires in order to clear is allowing small farm holders to start the fires in order to clear land without facing penalties. Land without facing penalties. Translation actually, its Jair Bolsonaro who is responsible for what is happening in the amazon. Translation actually, its Jair Bolsonaro who is responsible he promotes policies that encourage environmental crime, which make for what is happening in the amazon. Culprits feel comfortable. Cue for the french president Emmanuel Macron to put this right he promotes policies that encourage environmental crime, which make at the top of the agenda culprits feel comfortable. At the forthcoming g7 summit in france. The queue for the french president Emmanuel Macron to put this right in a tweet, he said. At the top of the agenda at the forthcoming our house is burning, literally. G7 summit in france. The amazon, the lungs in a tweet, he said. Which produce 20 of our planets our house is burning, literally. Oxygen, is on fire. The amazon, the lungs it is an international crisis. Which produce 20 of our members of the g7 summit, planets oxygen, is on fire. Lets discuss this emergency. It is an international crisis. I passionately share members of the g7 summit, the view of Emmanuel Macron about what is happening in brazil. Lets discuss this emergency. But, that hasnt gone down well and one of the things im with president bolsonaro, going to be raising at the g7 who is not invited to the g7. Is the horrific loss of habitats and species around the world. But, that hasnt gone down well he has accused Emmanuel Macron with president bolsonaro, of a misplaced colonialist mindset who is not invited to the g7. And he doesnt like the interference he has accused mr macron of climate charities either. Of a misplaced colonialist mindset, translation those countries that send money here, and he doesnt like the interference they are not doing it for charity. I hope everyone can understand that. Of climate charities either. They are doing it because they translation those countries have a vested interest. They want to interfere with our sovereignty. That send money here, they are looking for they are not doing it for charity. Riches under the soil. I hope everyone can understand that. So, whats at stake behind this diplomatic row . They are doing it because they well, the amazon rain forest covers an estimated have a vested interest. 2. 1 million square miles. They want to interfere with our sovereignty. They are looking for riches under the soil. So, whats at stake behind this diplomatic row . Well, the amazon rainforest covers that is about half an estimated the size of europe. According to the world 2. 1 million square miles wide fund for nature, it produces 20 of the worlds oxygen and freshwater. That is about half there has been an 85 the size of europe. According to the world increase in fires this year. Wide fund for nature, the indigenous mirror tribe has been it produces 20 of the worlds oxygen and fresh water. Living here for generations there has been an 85 and their leader is vowing to oppose increase in fires this year. President bolsonaros policies. This indigenous tribe has been translation its destruction, living here for generations, plain and simple. And their leader is vowing to oppose for this forest, i will go on until my last drop of blood. President bolsonaros policies. Emmanuel macron is hoping that translation its destruction, others will nowjoin that fight against deforestation. Plain and simple. For this forest, i will go whether they live in brazil on until my last drop of blood. Emmanuel macron is hoping that or the other side of the world. Others will nowjoin that fight against deforestation, whether they live in brazil or the other side of the world. We have a correspondent in biarritz. Naomi grimley, bbc news. Hugh schofield is in biarittz, whew, the french president s office where the g7 leaders will meet this weekend. Has upped the ante this lunchtime by effectively accusing the brazilians are playing. It is interesting, the war of words is heating up. The indeed i am. And it looks like this issue will be very much on the table. We are told at the dinner gloves are off. They have given out that opens, the summit tomorrow, a statement saying Jair Bolsonaro and Emmanuel Macrons view was lying president macron will bring the issue of the rainforest up and when he made commitments about discuss it, then it will be brought Climate Change, taking action onto the agenda of the environmental against it, at the g20 summit back section of the discussions, which injune. I guess the background to ta ke section of the discussions, which take place on monday. You must remember, there is an official this is the fires, and macrons agenda already drawn up and they cant party much from that, but interpretation of that is that jair within this environmental sector bolsonaro had committed himself to obviously this issue will be now an protect the rainforest and is not fulfilling that pledge. As a result important part. I suppose what of this in action on the part of president macron is hoping is there will be a consensus on this issue. Jair bolsonaro, macron is now saying france will no longer back the free the . Will be what is the attitude of trade agreement between europe and donald trump . The europeans and the certain south american countries, attitude there were japanese will among them brazil, because as it rally behind him. I dont know what stands it does not in frances view the attitude of donald trump will be. He is a natural ally perhaps of contain enough safeguards against exactly this kind of depredation president bolsonaro. But president macron will be hoping that at least which he accuses Jair Bolsonaro of on this issue there can be consensus encouraging. It is definitely an to put pressure on the brazilians to upping of the anti. Jair bolsonaro is clearly angry at the way macron change. And he is holding out the is clearly angry at the way macron threat from the french and european is grandstanding on this issue, playing to his domestic gallery and perspective that this important trade agreement, a big deal that trying to Seek International consensus. But it is an interesting would link brazil and other south development on the eve of the g7 american countries with the eu will summit. And it is something which be blocked unless bolsonaro comes up clearly macron wanted to plant at the heart of the agenda because it is he who yesterday put out the with Firm Commitments about his defence of the environment. Initial tweet saying our house is on with Firm Commitments about his fire. It isnt a subject that g7 defence of the environmentm with Firm Commitments about his defence of the environment. It adds a certain something. Thank you very would normally concern itself with, though. Well, Climate Change in much. Well be hearing more from him general would concern the g7, and france setting the agenda for the g7 across the weekend as that summit ta kes pla ce across the weekend as that summit takes place in france. Ive been speaking to our correspondent for this year has put Climate Change in sao paulo, daniel gallas, and i asked him whether president on the agenda. There are several bolsonaro had reacted to Emmanuel Macrons threat things on the agenda, things which of vetoing a eu, south wont get reported because they american trade deal. Wont get reported because they wont be headline grabbers, like he has not reacted to those specific comments yet. But what we saw your was a war of words between him female education. But they were put and macron yesterday, and today this is starting on the agenda months ago. They will to produce economic consequences. Be overshadowed by issues like this. Back injune, brazil and the eu, and it is interesting because i think what macron is trying to do closed this deal which is a landmark very deliberately as create a new kind of atmosphere at the g7 deal, one of the biggest trade meetings, as he himself said deals on the planet, earlier, he feels theyve been and back then mr bolsonaro said this overta ken earlier, he feels theyve been ove rta ke n by was a wonderful opportunity earlier, he feels theyve been overtaken by the official agenda and he wants a more free ranging, frank for the brazilian people, but it still needs to be approved by every government in both trading discussion between leaders about issues like this. And he may well blocks, and france is now saying it have decided that the fires issue is intends to block this deal because of brazils one on which a consensus can be stance on the environment. So this is starting to have economic reached. The burning of the repercussions and not just being a diplomatic ra i nfo rest reached. The burning of the ra i nforest is reached. The burning of the rainforest is an issue on which is spat between president s. What is the reaction ha rd to rainforest is an issue on which is hard to imagine people would not feel strongly. We will talk to you in brazil to the stand that president bolsonaro has taken over the weekend. Thank you. Lets not least his suggestion this week that the fires get the view from sao paulo in may have been started, brazil. How is that attack from some of them deliberately, by his political opponents who want president macron likely to go down to embarrass his government . With Jair Bolsonaro . A lot of people are very confused, embarrassed, president macron likely to go down with Jair Bolsonaro . He hasnt responded directly to the attack but even inside the governments he already cruised president macron main circle. But mr bolsonaro is still a very of having this colonialist mentality popular leader who enjoys a cult against brazil and trying to following on social media, so a lot of people are defending interfere in amazonian affairs. A lot of people are very confused the president and a lot of people are thinking france is trying to, about what Jair Bolsonaro wants to and european leaders, accomplish with this war of words, and foreign ngos, trying to meddle with brazilian not just france but accomplish with this war of words, notjust france but also he attacked and affairs internally. Germany and norway that pulled out but there have been repercussions from farmers, farmers associations, funding for sustainable to relevant programmes in the amazon. He against present bolsonaros stance. Attacked foreign ngos, suggesting they are worried there will be they may be responsible for the fires, and even attacked brazil plus economic repercussions my own Scientific Community when he fired the head of the agency of all of this, and there will be boycotts to brazilian products. Monitoring deforestation. Today he daniel, thank you. Adriane muelbert is an ecologist and specialist in amazon deforestation. Showed some signs he may start to shejoins me via act directly on the amazon, he suggested he may send the armed webcam from new york. Forces to help tackle fires, but he did not announce itjust yet. There thank you for being with us. First, was a Cabinet Meeting last night with all the major figures in terms of the scale, weve heard a was a Cabinet Meeting last night with all the majorfigures in was a Cabinet Meeting last night with all the major figures in the government, all the ministers, and lot about the percentage increase they talked about this issue, that was the most important issue on the has been dramatic, is it dramatic in terms of the number of fires as agenda. After a few days since these numbers came out, the government is well . Well, so far finally showing some signs of acting directly about this. However the terms of the number of fires as well . Well, so far i think we can not get a precise estimate of the other members likely to respond to area that has been burned. We need to analyse the data better. But what this threat, both from the french is concerning really is that this is president and the irish Prime Minister to effectively veto the eu Free Trade Agreement with them, not a particularly dry year, in a particularly dry year you expect a which is something theyve been lot of fires, but this is not the working on for 20 years. That is a case in 2019. And this is still the beginning of the fire season. So there is still a lot to come. So genuine concern of Business People down here, and it is worth thatis there is still a lot to come. So that is very concerning. And of remembering that president bolsonaro course there has been followed by. Celebrated that deal and told his audience and his voters that that was a landmark deal that would this fire follows an increase in deforestation we have seen before. Benefit brazilians. In order for it so these all point to the fires to go forward and be approved it has to go forward and be approved it has to be approved by every country and that includes european countries. Could have been avoided. Can you the deal also explicitly stated that explain why people, some people in countries should worry about climate the amazon might regard it as a good change, and brazil was part of that idea to set parts of it alight . What deal. It is interesting to see that is the commercial objective . Well, farmers in brazil are concerned about the way the government is it is very, i guess, instantaneous, handling this. There are already farming leaders in brazil who are worried about boy cuts to brazilian moment alias, idea that you get profit from the land if you clear it beef and soybeans because of the and you use the land to plant government stance on Climate Change. So there is real economic pressure not coming not just soybeans or raise cattle. So i guess so there is real economic pressure not coming notjust from abroad but from inside and from people who support this government. Daniel, thank you. Nowadays most farmers that lets discuss this with mike barrett, executive director of the science and Conservation Team at the wwf. Understand the environment, they hejoins me from woking. Dont think it is a good idea to burn the forests. The people that burn the forests. The people that burn the forests now, it is very thank you for being with us. I know criminal act really. It is mostly youre not directly concerned with illegal. People have been the politics, but in some ways i suppose this intervention by the understanding more and more that you french and indeed the irish is quite should not the in the forests. The helpful. I think it is essential problem then with illegal logging is the is not effective enforcement to that the issue of the destruction of either attempt to capture them, and the amazon features highly at the g7 where they are caught to punish them summit this weekend. It is clearly a ina way where they are caught to punish them in a way that would deter others. Presumably there is too much money global emergency. What is absolutely on this not to make it worth the clear is that we if we lose the risk for many of these people. Yes. Amazon then we lose the fight against Climate Change, and there is against Climate Change, and there is a real risk this could happen. We so for a long time deforestation had have already lost 20 of the amazon. Been declining, and now we see the scientists believe if we lose another 5 we reach a tipping point, rise of deforestation again. And and the amazon will not be a viable this is probably linked to the ecosystem anymore. Given its importance in terms of the cabinet discourse of the government saying no one will be punished, basically. Stores, the largest living storage of cover on the planet, if we it it so the president has created a is impossible to see how we avoid permissive environment for people to dangerous Climate Change. This make it feel like it is ok to do should feature as a key issue of the this. Yes, that is exactly what g7. To what extent do you put happened. And also it discredited pressure on brazil putt government the information that came from the to be more interventionist, to try to be more interventionist, to try to restrict some of the activity, when brazil putt government will space agency in brazil saying turn around and say one of the major deforestation was increasing, and also this whole atmosphere created reasons for this forestation is the this idea that it is ok to deforest relentless demand from wealthy countries including this country and and 0k to set fires in the forest. Others in the west for products like beef and soya 7 let me ask you about what impact if others in the west for products like beef and soya . That is absolutely true. We as consumers have a key any of the threat from the french, from the irish as well, that they role to play, so the issue of trade could scupper the trade deal with does not become absently crucial. And there is no doubt that if we can brazil, will distract a difference . Insert high Environmental Standards ido brazil, will distract a difference . I do think it will make a into trade agreements, make sure difference. The current brazilian that products that are being traded government seem not to understand between britain and the rest of the world a re the importance of protecting the between britain and the rest of the world are not coming from deforested environment, and seem not to land, that will be a very positive understand the risk of not development. Messages around trade protecting the environment. Especially in a country like brazil. And the need for environmentally friendly trade agreements will be very welcome. And likewise business but what the government seems to understand, they do want to also have a key role to play, accelerate the economy, so if there businesses need to understand where is any threat to the economy than they are sourcing their will produce there will be pressure inside brazil from. Information on commodities to protect the forest. So i see this as may be one of the only ways we supply chains cisco becoming better, can protect the forest at this there is no excuse to say you did not know now. The amazon is notjust point. Thank you very much for joining us. In brazil, it is also in neighbouring countries. Is the attitude of governments different . Let me bring you some breaking news 0r attitude of governments different . Or is the approach the same . just coming in in the last few minutes. It regards the mpjared attitude of governments different . Or is the approach the same . I think there have been quite a wide range omara. He was a labour camp that it of approaches in different amazonian countries. The really depressing thing in brazil is that over at the 27 general election that previous years we have seen real defeated nick clegg in sheffield progress in tackling deforestation, and it has only been really the last hallam. He is absent quickly became few months weve seen a reversal in an independent mp after some of his those trends. And the fact we have tweets led to him being suspended by seen almost twice as many wildfires the labour party and eventually this year in the amazon as this time leaving them. We understand he has been arrested by South Yorkshire police on suspicion of fraud. He was last year is simply indicative of the fact there is this huge surge in deforestation. And that is clearly arrested along with his chief of related to the political rhetoric there has been in the last few staff, former chief of staff, jarrod months in brazil. Thank you. Arnold at the same time. In the line of duty, with a minutes silence lets return to our top story being observed by forces now and the International Outcry across the country. Over the Record Number of fires french president Emmanuel Macron calls for the fires in the amazon rainforest to be in the amazon rainforest. Discussed at this weekends g7 summit. Borisjohnson says britain lets discuss this with kerry mccarthy, is also deeply concerned. Labour mp for bristol east, who sits celebrity chef pru leith is being brought in to help a new review of hospital food. On the environment select committee. And in sport. Thank you for coming in. It isnt a a disasterous day for england new problem, fires and deforestation all out forjust 67, jack leach the last man to go. In the rainforest, but suddenly there is this internationalfocus. Australia lead by 119. Are you pleased it has been put on the agenda of the g7 . Obviously i am well hear from the bury fc owner steve dale who says hes very saddened by the circumstances tried to save the club. That led to it being on the agenda. Bury have until midnight to avoid being expelled from the English Football League but, yes, i headed bay ten years ago unless he can prove they have in parliament about the impact of funding to continue or find a buyer. The livestock sector in particular and the deforestation of the amazon and Manchester United manager on the environment and it has been 0le gunner solskjaer has asked social Media Companies to do more quite a battle to get people to to stop racist abuse. Listen to it. And im really hopeful it comes after his player that the g7 will actually provide a paul pogba was targeted. Rallying point where we can say enough is enough, because the amazon ill be back with more is almost at a tipping point. If this continues at the rate that the on those stores later. Fires have been continuing then it time is ticking to save bury Football Club will be beyond rescue. No one could from being expelled by the english say president bolsonaro, who took league. The shakers have until midnight to prove they can pay off debts office at the beginning of this and have the necessary funding year, had not been open about his to make it through the league one season. Attitude to the use of the amazon as theyve already had six matches postponed this season because of financial problems. An Economic Resource for brazil. To discuss this and general what you think can be done financial problems faced by Football Clubs we are joined by rob harris, the Global Sports correspondent effectively, internationally, without just provoking for the associated press. Effectively, internationally, withoutjust provoking this response weve already seen that its foreign powers acting with a colonial thank you for being with us. On bury mindset, trying to undermine brazils sovereignty, will do what we like with the amazon, thank you first of all, how unusual are the very much, what can be done to get problems it is facing . There hasnt around that problem of a president been a club that has been kicked out who is in power who really does not of the Football League since 1992 wa nt to who is in power who really does not want to play ball on this . This is with maidstone, so we are not a lwa ys want to play ball on this . This is always the difficulty, and you can dealing with a regular occurrence understand why some countries want to lift their countrys economic here of clubs collapsing. We have heard many cases over the years of prosperity by using the natural clu bs heard many cases over the years of clubs falling into administration, resources they have. But we do reach including in the premier league over a point where we are plundering the ten yea rs including in the premier league over earth Green Resources rather than ten years ago with portsmouth, but protecting them and we need there are many cases of Football International action to make sure that isnt the case. Clearly, one of clu bs the first things we can do is look there are many cases of Football Clubs struggling, sinking into administration under a wait of debt, at the eu trade agreement that has for some clubs it is about trying to been agreed the countries including chase that dream and trying to rise up chase that dream and trying to rise brazil, and there has already been up the pyramid and you get many ireland and france said they wont agree there would ratify the situations where wage bills become agreement unless bolsonaro changes his tune. The uk is in a slightly particularly large and it is those player costs that can become so different position if we do leave the eu, but certainly any talk of prohibitive and so problematic the clu bs prohibitive and so problematic the clubs in the end because ultimately future trade agreements with brazil should make sure environmental and human rights as well are at the very with any club it is the wage bill for players which is so significant heart of that. We are seeing the Indigenous People in the amazon displaced by the deforestation, the but can cause problems. Steve dale cattle, the growing of soy for bought the club because it was in a terrible financial mess, i think you cattle, the growing of soy for cattle feed and the mining and only paid pound for it, presumably logging going on there. A lot of he must have understood the risk he was taking. But the county side of people who live and work their lives thatis in the amazon are acutely sensitive was taking. But the county side of that is did the English League understand the depth of the problem to its vulnerability and its is there or do you think it had just importance, but there will be others assumed it was all down to the previous owner and would all be who will bluntly say, i have to sorted out under new management . Worry first about my family and its yes, and steve dale said when he livelihood and its survival. It is a luxury i cant afford. How do you inherited the club through that into deal with that, because in a sense, ta keover ona inherited the club through that into takeover for £1, that they were deal with that, because in a sense, on a micro level that is a similar acting like a premier league club in argument to the one made about the terms of without the funds in terms of how they were looking at economy of brazil, that this is a spending, but the big issue around valuable resource but all countries that takeover which is now coming use the Natural Resources . valuable resource but all countries use the Natural Resources . I think there is a question about who is under a lot of scrutiny is the proof profiting from the exploitation of of funds, efl who govern the the amazon, whether it is local people being helped . The amazon, whether it is local people being helped . And there are competition ask enough questions sustainable ways of managing the about did dale have the funds to ra i nfo rest, sustainable ways of managing the ra i nforest, of sustainable ways of managing the rainforest, of using its natural sustain the club as a business going resources , rainforest, of using its Natural Resources, but in a way that does not deplete what you have. And that forward . Is the sort of thing we ought to be sustain the club as a business Going Forward . And sustain the club as a business Going Forward . And obviously sustain the club as a business Going Forward . And obviously from the promoting. A lot of the time, it is efls forward . And obviously from the efls side, they have 72 clubs to Multinational Companies coming in, manage, they have limited powers in displacing people from their land, terms of ability to assess the that they may have found the suitability of owners, but what this centuries, and it is those companies is really showing is that the efl that are making a profit. Actually the uk government is, through trade has a significant responsibility in terms of assessing who is able to missions, through use of export take, to get hold of one of the finance, it is actually helping companies that are engaged in such clu bs take, to get hold of one of the clubs and do they have the funds activity. So we have the hypocrisy Going Forward, because that is ofa activity. So we have the hypocrisy of a government at home saying we ultimately what has led to the wa nt to of a government at home saying we want to reach net zero, we want to situation now with five games at the reduce agricultural emissions, we start of the season all being postponed because the efl does not wa nt to reduce agricultural emissions, we want to preserve biodiversity, yet they are facilitating the exact wa nt postponed because the efl does not want a club starting the season if opposite in other countries. Thank there is any doubt it wont be able you very much. To fulfil its fixtures and could a young boy has died after becoming colla pse to fulfil its fixtures and could collapse during the season. But yes, unwell at the center parks resort in wiltshire. Thatis collapse during the season. But yes, Emergency Services were called that is the big issue Going Forward, to longleat forest holiday park what checks and balances can be put on saturday afternoon. In place Going Forward to really the boy was reportedly playing in the sub tropical indoor pool area when he was taken ill. Know that an owner does have the a spokeswoman for center parcs said funds Going Forward to run the club . It was deeply saddened by the tragic news and that it isa funds Going Forward to run the club . Their thoughts were with it is a situation that is unfolding the childs family. At bolton as well, clear and owner the Prime Minister has warned was able to get hold of the club and migrants trying to cross the English Channel that we will send you back. Then able to charge for consultancy he was speaking after more than 60 people were stopped by the border force along fees, paying himself money from the the south coast yesterday. Mrjohnson said migrants club. So it is who should own these were arriving illegally and would be clu bs club. So it is who should own these treated accordingly. Clubs that are so important to so many communities. I guess if i was a i obviously was talking to the french governmentjust yesterday about this issue bury fan many communities. I guess if i was a buryfan or many communities. I guess if i was a bury fan or someone who lives on and we are very grateful to them for the cooperation bury fan or someone who lives on bury and liked having a quality team in my local town, i and support they are giving. Bury and liked having a quality team in my localtown, i might bury and liked having a quality team in my local town, i might be a the most important thing is to stop little resentful that just a few miles away is a team like manchester them coming across from france, so we are working very closely with the french authorities. City or Manchester United who dont and i think the point really seem to have problems finding i would make to people thinking money. There is a real imbalance in of making this journey, english football at the moment, is one it is very hazardous, there any way it can be addressed . You may think the weather looks great but it is very dangerous. The second thing is, we will send you back. In terms of the situation at clubs and the uk is should not be regarded as a place where you can automatically come and break the law Going Forward and actually putting in more Sustainable Business models by seeking to arrive illegally. That some of these high temperatures may spark one or two showers across the pennines. But i think the vast majority of us should have another sunny day. A little uncertainty as england are trying to salvage this test match. To just how sunny day. A little uncertainty as theyre just at tea after bowling tojust how much sunny day. A little uncertainty as to just how much sunshine and how hot it will get on monday, on one now and theyve taken three wickets, but its an uphill battle. Hand a weather front coming from the it was a dreadful west and this week weather front sitting on top of the uk, this could morning for england. Spark some showers, may some cloud. All out for just 67, that is their lowest score against australia since 19a8. Depending on how much cloud we get england fans were so hopeful depends on how high the temperatures will be. We think probably high 20s, afterjofra archer getting six wickets for a5 to help topple maybe 30. A lot fresher in the australia for 179. Englands batsmen were north west because of the weather expected to respond, especially because the weather front approaching. The current was so much better thinking is by the time we get to at headingley today, but their reply was dismal. The club, and that all he has done is try his best to save the club. Lets hearfrom him now. It was a collapse i am not in control. Of epic proportions. It is like watching a car england all out for 67, crash but you are not that is their 12th lowest test holding the steering wheel. We need to try and total, against australia. Come up with a plan. But what i am getting at one point they were 511 6. Sick of is being blamed australia are batting now. For someone elses debt. Theyve lost a wicket i did not run up this david warner bowled by broad. Debt with the club. So after all ofjofra archers brilliance the club was bust beyond belief when i took over. With the ball on day one, it is now sustainable. His superb 6 45 to topple australia for a modest 179, and with the stage set australia for a modest 176, and with the stage set for the batsmen to respond in style, under blue skies at headingley, their reply was dismal. The only actions stopping the tourists did bowl well, bury Football Club now consistently challenging the outside are those of the efl. Edge at a good pace. There is no monetary requirements england just couldnt handle it, now for that club to trade. None whatsoever. They were 67 all out it has been dreadful. It is the only industry i have been injust 27. 5 overs. Involved where the guy whos trying to save that gets vilified. Joe denly top scored with 12, that tells you everything you need to know. Hazlewood taking 5 30 that is what i dont, it wont go in my head. And cummins 3 23. If you have seen some four catches for of the dreadful acts that have been done with my family and my home warner at first slip. You just think my god. And if i retaliate, remember, this is a critical i am the bad guy. Well, i wont let people do match for the hosts, things to my family. They need to win and after it is not going to happen. But hes now moved to work watching i am not in control. It is like watching a car crash but you are not with the scottish senior team, and says hes relishing holding the steering wheel. We need his new role. To try and come up with a plan. But thats all the sport for now. What i am getting sick of is being blamed for someone elses debt. I did not run up vested with the club. The club was bused beyond belief when i took over. It is now sustainable. When i look norths peter levy, who will be talking to us wont let people do things to my about rail problems, as we head into the bank family. It is not going to happen. Holiday weekend. So first to roger so its reaching the Manchester United manager, crisis . 0le gunner solskjaer, says social Media Companies must so what happens if they get stop the spread of hate. Its after his midfielder, kicked out the league . Paul pogba, was racially abused online, after missing a penalty in Uniteds Premier League draw with wolves, on monday. Pogba was the third player in a week to be targeted, the outcome is potentially pretty and solskjaer says that, whilst catastrophic for bury. As you heard the frenchman has the character to deal with it, more needs to be in janes bulletin. Catastrophic for bury. As you heard done to stop the abuse. Injanes bulletin. Thats all the sport for now. Not given us what we need to see, then we will issue a notice of withdrawal and kick bury out of the Football League. 1885 is when the clu b Football League. 1885 is when the club was founded and has been in the lets get more now on our main Football League always through, they story, and the Prime Minister has we re Football League always through, they were promoted last season, this morning, steve dale says the fans expressed concern about the fires burning in the amazon and has called need to step in and help me. We need for International Action to protect ra i nforests. Borisjohnson has been speaking to raise £2. 7 million by midnight. A in the few minutes. Couple of hours later, he said that i passionately share the view of he had a far act advanced immanuel macron about what is negotiation going on and a deal was happening in brazil. And one of the close to being done. Somewhat mixed m essa g es close to being done. Somewhat mixed messages some might say. Let us hear things i quickly raising at the g7 a little bit more. Is the horrific loss of habitat and species around the world. We have a buyer that is proceeding. Immanuel macron. He has made various requests to nick craig at the efl, this is an extension of biodiversity we are helping him all we can taking it over the line. Across the planet. There are down to as is Steven Wiseglass who is in charge of the cba. About 15,000 lions left in the so could that sale be completed today . I hope so. World. Elephants declining at a rate i cant speak for somebody else. And if it is, will that be enough to satisfy the league . Of 8 per year. 1500 lions. We i cant speak for that. Everyone has asked me to go away. Leave the club. Need to set targets for the if i go, dont come improvement and maintenance of habitat and stop this terrible loss back and blame me. I am saying i want to see it of biodiversity. Set targets for keeping the species that we through, because i know what i am doing is right. Inherited on this planet. Meanwhile, the labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn has accused brazils what happens if they do get kicked government for allowing the fires out the league . Is that the end of in the amazon to take place. Football in the town . Pretty much we have written on behalf of the the end of the club. Referring back shadow cabinet to the Prime Minister to what steve diehl said steve to see you have got to take this issue up. You have written to dale. They say nothing has changed president bolsonaro to say you cant so that is important to point out. Go on destroying the amazon if you think about the logical rainforest. It is a Global Resource conclusion of what happens here, if for all of us. And the fires are bury kicked out at midnight tonight, the rest of the football season has rampaging, species will be made already started. The leagues lower extinct that we havent even down are all full so therefore there discovered. It is the biggest carbon is no prospect for bury link sink in the world. And if it is football here in anyway shape or form until at least next season so destroyed, to make way for commercial farming of some sort, there is no business here, no which lasts a very short time, you players, they cant keep staff and will end which lasts a very short time, you players, they cant keep staff and willend up which lasts a very short time, you will end up with a desert as a players on when they have no income coming in. So bury, to all intents result. We are facing a climate and purposes, ceases to exist. It emergency, i proposed to parliament on may day that this country become would have to reapply as bury the First Parliament to declare a climate emergency, that was agreed. Football clu b would have to reapply as bury Football Club next season. They are and i think we have got to act now the first club since aldershot to face the prospect. And we hear week and very fast indeed. Many people in in week out bolton are brazil are also. Administration. We hear about clubs in the lower leagues are struggling lets discuss this with silio boccanera, financially. But this, for my money, a london correspondent is as bad as it has got for any club for brazilian television. The fate of the amazon, hugely in the last 30 years. Depressing important to any brazilian and many picture. Thank you roger. Peter is people in south america. What is the with us from look north. You have argument about the rate of deforestation . How controversial is been monitoring the prospects for this within brazil . The population rail travellers coming into and out of the north this bank holiday in general, most people, realise this happens all the time. The main weekend. It will be a hard weekend difference is that this government tries to deny it. It is very for travellers. The line links anti environment and does not believe in Climate Change. Says its edinburgh, yorkshire and london kings cross. There is no service all in International Marxist this weekend in or out of kings cross because of Engineering Works. Conspiracy against purcell. Because they are doing track signalling. Of this attitude, the destruction against brazil. Because of this when the work is done they seem more trains will be able to use the attitude, destruction has increased. Station. Some of the equipment is a0 an organisation photograph that and yea rs station. Some of the equipment is a0 years old. That is being replaced. Presented that picture already and Engineering Work is also being done said this is crazy. And he fired the at new work. They are telling boss. So that is his attitude. Shoot customers not to travel. There will literally be no services on the east the messenger . Shoot the messenger. Coast mainline south of peterborough at all. This is the first in the fires also happen periodically, but not only this one is a bigger one, section of the line has been totally closed in 20 years. I will come back but if you put that together with to the line in just a moment. The attitude of the government, it closed in 20 years. I will come back to the line injust a moment. They say it will be an extremely limited causes the current crisis. So the message has gone out to business and service between peters and york and also leads. Peterborough. Why do illegal loggers, the government wont do and think about this . Illegal loggers, the government it this weekend . August bank holiday wont do and think about this . What they didnt realise, bolsonaro and weekend. Lots on. His supporters, is that they must be ina his supporters, is that they must be in a state of shock with the the monday of a Bank Holiday Weekend International Reactions of this. Is less busy because there are no which is already a demonstration of commuters travelling. How badly they interpret what is that is why we plan any three day piece of work on an august Bank Holiday Weekend. Happening in the world, how badly but we still recognise there are people they interpret the strength of the who want to travel and i would just like to thank them for their environmental cause, worldwide. And patience while we the pressure against them now has a carry out this work. Focus that will worry even his i kind of rotten weekend to choose acolytes. Which is money. And that although i suppose it is six of one and half a dozen of the other. When is important because a lot of this is the good time to shut the is important because a lot of this is determined because of the Global Demand for things like beef and railways . Is the good time to shut the railways . Exactly. There never is. Soya, which is obviously fuelled by they say less people travel and im countries like the uk, france and sure that is the case. But this the United States. But the threat to weekend is a busy one and many will the United States. But the threat to the trade treaty, how badly will wa nt to weekend is a busy one and many will that were down in south america . M want to get to and from yorkshire and scotland. Why . Just listen to is not in effect yet but it is used some of these. The edinburgh by the bolsonaro group as a festival in scotland, it is the demonstration of how good they are in the government. They have managed ashes at headingley. The leeds to reach a conclusion, discussions festival is on. A massive festival. About. It has gone on forever, london, for people going the other hasnt it . Way from natural and the north to about. It has gone on forever, hasnt it . 20 years and now negotiator say we have a deal here london, the notting hill carnival. And with a situation excess, many League Challenge cup at wembley. So ma ny eve nts League Challenge cup at wembley. So many events on this weekend. It doesnt seem like a good time. To they will simply see as the already say, we will not approve it. So that reiterate, kings cross closed all is already a defeat for the weekend. Finally, iam in hulland government. Is it a mistake for weekend. Finally, iam in hulland we have our own Train Company who president micron to accuse mr are running some services from hull bolsonaro of lying . Is he the kind to london but they go to st pancras. Of politician who will react to they are limited. In a nutshell, i something . Mr macron. Hallam are left without yet in 2013, a report found that representation. So it is very serious and i am sure the more than £50 million had been constituents here in sheffield wasted not on poorfood, hallam will be very concerned to but on failed schemes to improve quality. Hear that their mp is being investigated by the police for im a bit cynical. Fraud. He was a dramatic winner on weve seen different reviews over the last ten, 15 years, the night of the 2017 election. That have looked into improving hospital food and nothing really has happened. Deposing nick clegg, the former mp and we hear from patients every day, providing pictures of fairly disgusting food. There. It has not been a happy couple of years at parliament . No, the deaths of six nhs patients, linked to a listeria outbreak it hasnt. You will remember that shortly after he was elected, a blog connected to pre packaged sandwiches and salads supplied to a number of hospitals, gives this found some old tweets and comments review added weight. Bringing more catering in house, using fresh and seasonal ingredients that he had made that were pretty and sourcing produce locally all sounds good. Unsavoury. He apologised for them. Thats likely to mean costs go up, and thats the point where previous efforts to improve hospital food have come unstuck. There were other allegations and he quit the labour party. This is one Dominic Hughes, bbc news. Of the other interesting elements is all week long weve been that he is not under the sort of focussing on the issues control of the labour party anymore. Affecting farming and one of those is how much the industry is ageing. He is an independent mp so a lot of in Sheffield Hallam are asking who the average farm owner is 60 years to turn to. He is not turning up to old and most of the time farms are passed down within families. The National Federation surgeries or anything, so there is of Young Farmers is warning more needs to be done to breathe new life very little anyone can do. The power into the industry. Is in the pocket of the mp and he 0ur correspondent, Sally Challoner, has to decide whether he is going to is on a farm in north somerset, looking at the future of farming resign. As i said, he said he will and joins us now. Resign. As i said, he said he will resign in september when parliament returns from the celebrate, but that it looks like a glorious day there. Is his decision. Returns from the summer break. There will be more it looks like a glorious day there. It is absolutely lovely. I am in pressure now that he has been investigated by the police. And somerset, at the headquarters of the where can we hear more on your charity form link, which brings investigation . We did an primary aged children to learn about investigation . We did an investigation for the bbc podcast growing crops and what it means to the next episode. We had a very bea growing crops and what it means to be a farmer in the 21st century. Bizarre interview with mr arnold, farm link. We have been talking gareth arnold, who is chief of staff about satellites, drones, driverless tractors, but all of that technology is going to be no good unless we can for gareth arnold, who is chief of staff foer gareth arnold, who is chief of staff for mr omara. We were told he was get the next generation of farmers operating and growing the food for us. I have a couple with me. One working in these mp offices without from a farming family, one from not. A security clearance. So i recommend listening to them and we will drop what is your background . Another episode of the podcast with some of the things that we found from a farming family, one from not. What is your background . |j over the last couple of days in from a farming family, one from not. What is your background . I worked on the family farm and have been sheffield. Thank you very much. Brought up trying to help out as all this week weve been looking at issues facing farming much as i could. I worked for my dad across the country todays we look to the future. After school and so have been come farming is one of the uks biggest and most important industries, his general farm worker. It consists but its an ageing one. The average owner is 60, and most farms are passed to the next of helping to feed calves, milking generation within families. Now the National Federation the cows and doing tractor work. It of Young Farmers clubs says more needs to be done to bring is with a good fun. You never had new workers into the industry. Any doubt that that is what you our correspondent Sally Challoner is on a farm would do . I always knew i would get in north somerset. Into farming. I love it. I love being outdoors and working there. I just love it really. Lovely weather the sun is still shining. This is a at the moment. You are not from a farming family particularly are you . How did you get into it . |j form farming family particularly are you . How did you get into it . I decided to go to college to learn farming. I did an apprenticeship, which is a more work based way of learning how to do it rather than learning in a farm in somerset. The average farmer classroom. When i was at college i age is 60. We talk about drones, learned all parts of farming. I went more about cows and that is where i satellite farming, hydroponics, decided to do daily. And then i robotics, but that is not going to ended up rearing calves and working be any good unless the next more with young stock and that isnt generation can come in to use all of what i fell in love with. is that. I have two farmers, one from a what i fell in love with. is farming background and one not. You what i fell in love with. is what i fell in love with. And what first of all, how did you get does that involve . Taking care of the calves so myjob is to give them involved . I would always go up in my the calves so myjob is to give them holidays and work at a farm and when the best start in life that they can and make sure they are strong i left secondary school i carried on animals. Which is lovely on a day working for my dad on the family farm. I suppose it isjust life and like today but i was here on monday in torrential rain. It was i have just got used to it. I love miserable. It does get like that doing what i do. You never had any sometimes and it is called in the winter, but you are prepared for it doubt . I was always going to get and you know that is part of the job. The animals still need feeding into it, i love working outdoors and and looking after and we try the animals and machinery. And what did best we can through all weathers to you do . I am a generalfarm do the best we can. We are in a rural area but your school was not animals and machinery. And what did you do . I am a general farm worker, helping feed cards, milking occasionally and tractor work. Particularly. Did lots of people in your class go into farming . Not that youre not particularly from a lam aware your class go into farming . Not that farming background so how did you i am aware of. A lot of them went to get into it . I decided to go back to university. I decided not to do that because i wanted to be in the couege get into it . I decided to go back to college and do an apprenticeship. I countryside and be with the animals, decided that was the easiest way to be on form and learn as well. That learning more about them and just fell another fit. This impression to is when be on form and learn as well. That is when i decided i wanted to go you. Same question to you. Into cows. What do you do on the farm . I wear the cards, looking after babies from when they are born fell another fit. This impression to you. Same question to you. They to when they go off to 1a weeks old. All applied for your needs and i decided i dont need to go to uni anymore, i knew what i was going to do, sol anymore, i knew what i was going to do, so i went to australia for eight rear to when they go off to 1a weeks old. Rearthe to when they go off to 1a weeks old. Months. I have just come back. And i rear the cafs. Think now some of them still dont to when they go off to 1a weeks old. Rear the cafs. Did many people from your school grow into the realise that i can switch off for a industry . Not that i know of. What couple of days and go and see them. It is my life, the cows need feeding enticed you in . I think it is the every day. So they dont switch off satisfaction. Seeing them from when they are born, joining the daily either. Do you think people realise what a high Tech Industry it is now . Herald two years later is very i think it is starting to be more satisfying. You are from a farming realised through social media. I think there is a lot more to do with family, do you think farmers suffer how it is going to be portrayed. And from an image problem . in the future, and how we can get family, do you think farmers suffer from an image problem . I feel like we do struggle in social media. I there. People are realising that robots are sometimes the best way to go. But i think that future think it is portrayed completely generations really need to sort of understand the basis of where their different to how, or sometimes, it is portrayed completely different to food is coming from. Places like how it actually is. I feel like the Younger Generation meal me to understand where a refit comes from. Farm link are going to help people realise that food does not just come organisations like farm link are from the supermarket, there is a really useful. The milking system is stage before that. Do you think there is a disconnect between the food and people thinking it comes fully automated and very technical . From the supermarket . Definitely. I dont think they understand the work it is really technical and only that goes into getting the food to takes it is really technical and only ta ke 5 two it is really technical and only takes two people to run. It is the supermarket. A lot of work goes on from different people. People simple and effective. And it has raising the animals to the crops in made our life so much easier on the farm. In the future i think there the field and doing the tractor work and things like that. So there is a will be more robots about and easier major disconnection in between that technology that you can use to get time. You are both good ambassadors the job done a lot quicker and more for the industry, i wish you well. Efficiently. Do you think people know what farmers do . At your 70,000 schoolchildren have been through this since it started 1a yea rs through this since it started 1a years ago. And doesnt it look school, at my School People didnt great . It certainly does. Mention careers in farming . school, at my School People didnt mention careers in farming . I think it isa mention careers in farming . What are we talking about this time . Some of them are things like soybeans. Farmers in america will ta ke soybeans. Farmers in america will take a hit again, they have been hit quite hard throughout all of this trade war between the us and china. Bankers get something more glamorous the other area we have not spoken about beyond the initial levy, there than a weekend on the beach . They will go in effect it is the uss first ski resort on first september, which are dating from 1930. The main point is significant states because that is the date when donald trump was that the world central bankers are gathering and there has been a planning to impose 10 tariffs on keynote speech being given by the us 300 billion worth of chinese goods. He delayed some of it. In part due chair. Identity donald trump will be to domestic pressure, the feeling was he did not want to be seen to listening very carefully. He was coy on that and didnt give but there doesnt seem to be any end the markets what they wanted. He did make it clear that a lot has in sight in the moment. There seems happened since the last federal to bea reserve meeting. A lot of not so in sight in the moment. There seems to be a discrepancy in amount. 300 good stuff for the Global Economy. Million versus 75 billion, is china being softer than the us . You have the imposition of tariffs. Some pretty bad data. Hong kong trouble. People from the American Administration saying this was well a no deal brexit. The italian signalled, china are showing government. The chance of income restraint. What they are trying to do is show that they are not a rates coming down again in september pushover and they will push back in america is never that higher than when tariffs are imposed, but you it was which is a positive for the market. Good that there is something are seeing they are not going so far as to really try and strike a positive. We expect a speech later . Knockout blow. Does that mean there is still possibility for trade talks . The view here is fairly anybody important in the world of pessimistic and people are resigned to the idea that this trade dispute central banking is there. Lets move on to some domestic shares. Between these two countries is just onto slowly ratchet up and because particularly i would like to talk about Marks Spencer is which is of that expectation, the markets are being relegated. We dont know that down, i of that expectation, the markets are down, lam of that expectation, the markets are down, i am looking at it now, down yet, it looks like it. The next 0. 5 percentage point. Jpmorgan had some since the ftse100 has started, it figures out about how much it was costing the american consumer. I is one of only 30 companies to have dont remember the figures offhand. Now its time for a hull. It is understood he got into look at the weather. We can cross the newsroom now. Trouble swimming. We will have more as we get it. Nothing has changed in the last 30 now its time for a look at the weather with minutes. This is probably what we tomasz schaferknacker. Will see through the course of tomorrow. Temperatures in the city will be rising as well. Probably to we forecasted a glorious weekend and no change. Temperatures are set around 30 degrees, possibly even a little bit more. Here is the latest satellite image. A lot of clear to soar. Hot and sunny. In fact, a weather across much of the uk, but little too sunny for some of us. At across scotland, the northern and the moment the satellite picture Western Isles, a bit more the south shows a fair bit of cloud across of that, that is whether hot air is north west scotland. This is a coming. It will turn hotter weather front that has been bringing tomorrow. Temperatures in the high some rain today but to the south, we 20s across the south east, mid 20s have that very warm air coming out of the continent and it is reaching in northern england. In belfast and our shores and those temperatures glasgow, a little bit more modest at will keep on rising over the next couple days. Todays temperatures around 21. This evening, clear skies across much of the country. Apart from the Western Isles, part of around 27 in london, mid 20s in northern highland, a little bit of northern england. Bit more modest in rain. The morning temperatures, in northern england. Bit more modest in Northern Ireland. Friday night into the south or the north, will be more saturday, not an awful lot on the or less the same, around 13 or 1a weather front. A case of clear skies with a bit of mist outside of town. Degrees. It is notjust us in the uk who will enjoy the fine weather. Early morning temperatures will be much of europe under the influence of this big High Pressure. Centred around 13 or 1a degrees, 1a in around the baltic, thejet aberdeen. In western parts of of this big High Pressure. Centred around the baltic, the jet stream of this big High Pressure. Centred around the baltic, thejet stream is way to the north of us, sending scotla nd aberdeen. In western parts of scotland we will see a few spots of rain overnight. On saturday, high those weather systems, those weather pressure is building across much of fronts, into scandinavia but not europe. This is basically deflecting completely. There is just the weather system to the north. You fronts, into scandinavia but not completely. There isjust one brushing us on saturday, brushing can see where the jet stream is, to ireland, bringing a little bit of the north of scotland and across rainfall to the west of our scandinavia where the weather fronts neighbourhood. Giving us clear skies are coming and going through. Through the south it is warm and and hot weather across the bulk of the uk. 30 degrees in london, mid sunny, warm southerly winds. Notice a weather front you just out towards 20s in the lowlands of scotland as the west neighbourhood on saturday well. On sunday, that area of cloud which does spell a bit more cloud will creep closer to some of these and pressure conditions for Northern Ireland. Never getting that one in western coasts, so perhaps a bit belfast. 21 degrees. 28 expected in more cloud and also the chance that the high temperatures across england may spark off one or two pesky merseyside and 30 in london. Sunday will be every bit as hot across the showers. Possibly on the pennines on south east. 30 degrees possibly a bit more that i suspect there is a sunday. Monday, a bit uncertain but chance they was part of one or two overall the message is that the weather will continue. 0ne weather front approaching from the west to bring, eventually on monday, cloud showers. And some rain to the north west. But were just a little bit uncertain how much cloud is going to build on on monday, a sign that the weather monday across central parts of the will turn later on monday. Here is uk and whether they will be any showers. So the thinking on monday that weather front, freshening as it could be 26, orfatty, could winds, clouds reaching the west of Northern Ireland and the Western Isles but further east and south, have sunshine or we could have sunny that hot sunny weather continues spells. That set 30. With temperatures probably peaking at 30 degrees. Today at 5pm. The lungs of the planet are on fire french president emanuel macron leads World Leaders in condemning brazils president as the amazon rainforest burns. Boris johnson expresses hello, youre watching afternoon live. Today at 3pm his deep concern. The french president , i passionately share the view Emmanuel Macron, threatens to veto a proposed trade deal between the eu of Emmanuel Macron about whats and south american countries, happening in brazil. Over the fires in the amazon. And one of the things ill be but the brazilian president accuses World Leaders raising at the g7 is the horrific of a colonial mindset loss of habitats and species around the world. Police forces across the country observe a minutes silence there are calls for the fires to be to remember pc Andrew Harper, on the agenda at this killed investigating a burglary in berkshire last week. Home, after dozens of of people were stopped along britains coast yesterday. The point i would just make to people thinking of making this journey, one, it is very hazardous, you may think the weather looks great but it is a very dangerous thing to do. In the second thing is we will send you back. Coming up on afternoon live, all the sport a disasterous day for england with the bat. All out for just 67 at headingley, including the captainjoe root gone for a duck. And tomasz has all the weather if hot weather is what you like, it will be a beautiful weekend, a lot of sunshine, high temperatures, perhaps a little too hot for some of us. Thanks tomasz. Also coming up after over 130 years its a nervous wait for bury fans, as the troubled Football Club fights for its future. Hello, everyone this is afternoon live. The french president , Emmanuel Macron, has threatened to veto a proposed trade deal between the eu and a number of south american countries, accusing his brazilian counterpart, Jair Bolsonaro, of lying over his countrys stance on Climate Change. It comes as a Record Number of wildfires in the amazon rainforest continue to burn. Boris johnson has joined World Leaders in expressing his deep concern at the impact of the fires, and has called for them to be top of the agenda at this weekends g7 summit. There have been 75,000 fires this year in the Worlds Largest rainforest, which is home to about 3 million species of plants and animals, and a million Indigenous People. Naomi grimley has this report. As the flames raged, their majesty of the amazon rainforest is under threat more than ever before. These fires have been growing rapidly in number over the last year. Bit by bit, singeing away the lush vegetation. Climate campaigners are worried that brazils president , Jair Bolsonaro, is allowing small farm holders to start the fires in order to clear land without facing penalties. Translation actually, its Jair Bolsonaro who is responsible for what is happening in the amazon. He promotes policies that encourage environmental crime, which make culprits feel comfortable. The queue for the french president Emmanuel Macron to put this right at the top of the agenda at the forthcoming g7 summit in france. In a tweet, he said. Our house is burning, literally. The amazon, the lungs which produce 20 of our planets oxygen, is on fire. It is an international crisis. Members of the g7 summit, lets discuss this emergency. But, that hasnt gone down well with president bolsonaro, who is not invited to the g7. He has accused Emmanuel Macron of a misplaced colonialist mindset and he doesnt like the interference of climate charities either. Translation those countries that send money here, they are not doing it for charity. I hope everyone can understand that. They are doing it because they have a vested interest. They want to interfere with our sovereignty. They are looking for riches under the soil. So, whats at stake behind this diplomatic row . Well, the amazon rain forest covers an estimated 2. 1 million square miles. That is about half the size of europe. According to the World Wide Fund for nature, it produces 20 of the worlds oxygen and freshwater. There has been an 85 increase in fires this year. This indigenous tribe has been living here for generations and their leader is vowing to oppose president bolsonaros policies. Translation its destruction, plain and simple. For this forest, i will go on until my last drop of blood. Emmanuel macron is hoping that others will nowjoin that fight against deforestation. Whether they live in brazil or the other side of the world. 0ur corrrespondent hugh schofield, whos in biarritz for the g7 summit, told us more about mr macrons threat. The gloves are off. They have given out a statement saying Jair Bolsonaro in Emmanuel Macrons view was lying when he made commitments about Climate Change, taking action against it, at the g20 summit back injune. I guess the background to this is the fires, and macrons interpretation of that is that Jair Bolsonaro had committed himself to protect the rainforest and is not fulfilling that pledge. As a result of this in action on the part ofJair Bolsonaro, macron is now saying france will no longer back the Free Trade Agreement between europe and certain south american countries, among them brazil, because as it stands it does not in frances view contain enough safeguards against exactly this kind of depredation which he accuses Jair Bolsonaro of encouraging. It is definitely an upping of the ante. Jair bolsonaro is clearly angry at the way macron angry at the way macron is in his view grandstanding on this issue, playing to his domestic gallery and trying to Seek International consensus. But it is an Interesting Development on the eve of the g7 summit. And it is something which clearly macron wanted to plant at the heart of the agenda because it is he who yesterday put out the initial tweet saying our house is on fire. It isnt a subject that g7 would normally concern itself with, though. Well, Climate Change in general would concern the g7, and france setting the agenda for the g7 for this year has put Climate Change on the agenda. There are several things on the agenda, things which wont get reported because they wont be headline grabbers, like female education. But they were put on the agenda months ago. They will be overshadowed by issues like this. And it is interesting because i think what macron is trying to do very deliberately as create a new kind of atmosphere at the g7 meetings, as he himself said earlier, he feels theyve been overtaken by the official agenda and he wants a more free ranging, franker discussion between leaders about issues like this. And he may well have decided that the fires issue is one on which a consensus can be reached. The burning of the rainforest is an issue on which is hard to imagine trump would not feel strongly. We will hear later this hour from our correspondent in sao paulo. The family of Andrew Harper have said theyve been comforted by the outpouring of love for him, as they mourn his loss. The Thames Valley officer had been married just four weeks, when he was killed while investigating reports of a burglary in berkshire. In pc harpers home town of wallingford, the thin blue line has been symbolised in silk in shops, homes and schools. His wife lissie said, theres not enough paper in the world to even begin to write a tribute for you. Today his family and colleagues agreed, with this simple, moving act of remembrance. Duncan kennedy, bbc news, in berkshire. A young boy has died after becoming unwell at a center parks resort in wiltshire. Emergency services were called to longleat forest holiday park on saturday afternoon. The boy was reportedly playing in the sub tropical indoor pool area when he was taken ill. The Prime Minister has warned migrants trying to cross the English Channel that we will send you back. He was speaking after 60 people were stopped by the border force along the south coast yesterday. Mrjohnson said migrants were arriving illegally and would be treated accordingly. I obviously was talking to the french government just yesterday about this issue and we are very grateful to them for the cooperation and support they are giving. The most important thing is to stop them coming across from france, so we are working very closely with the french authorities. And i think the point i would make to people thinking of making this journey, one would make to people thinking of making thisjourney, one it is would make to people thinking of making this journey, one it is very hazardous, you may think the weather looks great but it is very dangerous. The second thing is, we will send you back. And the uk is should not be regarded as a place where you can automatically come and break the law by seeking to arrive illegally. If you come illegally, you are an illegal migrant and im afraid the law will treat you as such. 0ur reporterjon hunt is in dover, and gave us this update. It is another day, another migrant boat crossing the channel. Reports of 11 migrants in a small rigid inflatable boat, two miles off the coast, north east of dover. Here the coastguard helicopter, the lifeboat and a Border Force Cutter went out to meet them and bring them back to shore. We are awaiting confirmation from the home office. But if these numbers turn out to be correct, that will bring the total number of people who have crossed the channel in small boats this week alone to around 92. As you say, 60 yesterday, 20 the day before, and most of those people who have been arriving presenting as iranian. The home office says priti patel will raise these issues with her french counterpart no details of exactly what she intends to raise with them. Calls from the local mp here for the french to stop the boats leaving, calls for there to be a joint security zone in the English Channel to tackle the problem. He says, charlie elphick, says the problem is moving from crisis to a state of chaos. The home office says it has three Border Force Cutters operating in the channel, it is working with a joint programme with the french, coordinated in calais, and it says so far this year since january, 65 people who have arrived in england illegally in small boats have been sent back to france. Lets cross to sao paulo and to our correspondent there daniel gallas. Daniel, the french have accused the brazilians of effectively lying over the commitments that were made to try to combat the effect of Climate Change, in part by protecting the amazon which plays such an Important Role in storing and maintaining carbon levels. Has there been any reaction from mister bolsonaro, because he isnt a politician who is shy of a fight when it comes to it . Yes, he has not reacted to those specific comments yet. But what we saw your was a war of words between him and macron yesterday and today this is starting to produce economic consequences. Back in june, this is starting to produce economic consequences. Back injune, brazil and the eu, closed this deal which isa and the eu, closed this deal which is a landmark deal, one of the biggest trade deals on the planet, and back then mister bolsonaro said this was a wonderful opportunity for the brazilian people, but it still needs to be approved by every government in both trading blocs, and france is now saying it intends to block this deal because of priscilla putt stance on the environment. So this is starting to have economic repercussions and not just being a diplomatic spat between president s. What is the reaction in brazil to the stand that president bolsonaro has ta ken . Brazil to the stand that president bolsonaro has taken . Not least his suggestion this week that the fires may have been started, some of them deliberately, by his political opponents who want to embarrass his government . A lot of people are very confused, embarrassed, even inside the government does make main circle. But mister bolsonaro is still a very popular leader who enjoys a cult following on social media, soa enjoys a cult following on social media, so a lot of people are defending the president and a lot of people are thinking france is trying to, and european leaders, and foreign ngos, trying to meddle with brazilian and affairs internally. But there have been repercussions from farmers, farmers associations, against present bolsonaro putt stance. They are worried there will be economic repercussions of all of this, and there will be boycotts to brazilian daniel, thank you. Youre watching afternoon live, these are our headlines france threatens to veto a big trade deal between the eu and south american countries, unless brazil does more to fight the fires in the amazon. Tributes to pc Andrew Harper a week after he was killed in the line of duty, with a minutes silence being observed by forces across the country. The Prime Minister warns migrants crossing the channel that theyre breaking the law and will be sent home after dozens of people were stopped along britains coast yesterday and coming up, 60 years old thats the average age of a farmer in britain. We look at what can be done to breath new life into the industry and in sport. England collapse all out forjust 67 at headingley as australia look on course to retain the ashes. Mark leach the last man to go. Bury fc owner steve dale tells the bbc he is trying to save the club. Bury have until midnight to avoid being expelled from the English Football League unless he can prove they have funding to continue or find a buyer. And Manchester United manager 0le gunner solskjaer has asked social Media Companies to do more to stop racist abuse. It comes after his player paul pogba was targeted. Ill be back with more on those stores at half past. Glasgow university is to make £20 million of reparations after finding out it benefited by tens of millions of pounds from the slave trade. Earlier today, a memorandum of understanding was signed in partnership with the university of the west indies. The money, to be raised over the next 20 years, will be spent on setting up and running the glasgow Caribbean Centre for development research. Graham campbell is a councillor at glasgow city council. Earlier today, he attended the ceremony marking glasgow universitys reparations announcement. Hejoins me now in glasgow. What did you make of the universitys announcement . What did you make of the universitys announcement . M what did you make of the universitys announcement . It has come at the end of a long process of engagement lasting three years. We as the Afro Caribbean Community asked the university to look into the record of slavery and the links to all the donors to the building, the Main Building in glasgow university. We found from a report we commissioned and published last year that donation to the value of £200 million in modern money was donated by owners who were owners of plantations slaves injamaica. We found that is just some of the wealth. We have not gone into. That is just one study that shows how extensive scotland was back in polmont and the trade was. Glasgow, by way of reparative justice has entered the International Discussion going on with what has happened at Georgetown University in washington, and looks at how it can begin that process. This was the first step but the logic was that we should do something academic, something dotted that there is a slavery institute in jamaica, but if we could have a Caribbean Institute that links glasgow and the caribbean and tells the truth about the history we could begin the process tell the process of reparation, and i say reparation without the s with good reason. We are there to make repair and make good. It is a gesture trying to put back today what was lost a couple of centuries ago in terms of the money, but it can never make up the damage done to individuals. What positives done to individuals. What positives do you think will come out of the centre . I should correct you, it is not damaged to individuals, it was davidge to african enslaved people kidnapped over a number of centuries, literally 200 years, the british were involved in directly, and indirectly when it was carried on in cuba and brazil after abolition of the british empire. So the 300 years britain and in particular glasgow is one of its main ports benefited from the riches of to ba cco, main ports benefited from the riches of tobacco, sugar, cotton, and other commodities, almost exclusively produced by enslaved african labour, kidnapped and brought the americas. So it is not a matter of individual suffering, it is people suffered, africa suffered the consequences, depletion of its population, is economy, and the building of the new world. Novice to the wealth that was repatriated back to scotland and back to england. We are seeing that in buildings, public architecture, and in institutions like glasgow university. That in a sense as its is the question put by some critics saying these were the sins committed by people long dead, why should people pay for it now . You have given an answer that question. What you hope this new centre will achieve . Its only a first step, it is not the last thing glasgow will do around reparation. It is a first step in this institution acknowledging its role in that appalling crime against humanity. But it is a start that will say we recognise the links between glasgow and the caribbean, that we recognise just how important it was to building scotland into the modern industrialised country it became, all the industries glasgow is known for, shipbuilding, banking, finance, industry, it comes from that. So telling the truth about that origin and just how deep the scottish footprint was, we had a poem today about scotland and jamaica and where we have a saltire in ourflag, because we are scottish, because of that legacy from slavery. We are family, we are linked. The question is now you have to invite everybody end, you have to tell the truth about your history, in your schools, universities, and you have to make good and repair in the caribbean and help that country develop. In the same is true for west africa. All the countries in western africa which suffered the loss of people from slavery. Thanks. If you are getting a little distracted there by the spider, graham was sitting in front of a camera, the camera shot is of the skyline, the skyline was crawling around on the camera. Apologies for that, not much we could do about it. Google has shut down 210 channels on youtube, which it said were part of a coordinated attempt to post material about the ongoing protests in hong kong. The internet giant has linked the move to similar action by twitter and facebook earlier this week but stopped short of explicitly accusing china of a state backed misinformation campaign. Lets discuss this with chris stokel walker, author of youtubers how youtube shook up tv and created a new generation of stars. Thank you for coming in. This is quite a bold step by the social Media Companies involved. What you think prompted it . I think it is probably the fact that this is a live event, something that is happening now and something they feel they can actually comment on. We have known for a long time that there are disinformation campaigns broadcast across social media, not least from russia which is known for having an army unit in Saint Petersburg doing this. But i think probably the pro hong kong protests have crystallised opinions. As you said, twitter was one of the first to come out earlier this week and say they have identified that, others, facebook and now youtube have also said they have issues with it too. In terms of the calculation they made, how much of this is about they made, how much of this is about the pressure they have been coming under . From countries like the us, france threatening to introduce a digital tax, a fear there is now a new regulatory environment. If they are not proactive on Something Like this, they will pay a price . It is a huge part of it. We know this is an issue for a long time. But action has not been taken until relatively recently. And as you say, that is because companies in silicon valley, Technology Firms like google and facebook and twitter, really are feeling the squeeze. They know full well that regulation is coming around the corner, we have in the uk rumours ofan around the corner, we have in the uk rumours of an online harm is white paper being passed into law by september 2020. That would put the onus on places like youtube and facebook to make sure they are not actively spreading disinformation. So, yes, political pressure is a huge part of this. And there is a wrinkle in here as well which is by dragging facebook and google and youtube into deciding what is factual and what is not, that changes what they do, and that is very slippery slope for them. So they are feeling a bit squeamish about doing this, i think. Final thought, presumably there is also of commercial risk for them if china retaliates . Absolutely, and part of this is a moot point for them. Facebook, twitter and youtube are not enormously popular in china. This was, if it is to be believed, we think it an attempt to green if i chinas approach in the international sphere. But china is a massive economy and Technology Companies like to make money, so you dont want to turn down 1. 5 billion people. Thank you. Time for a look at the weather. First, he has been rummaging for me, yet more photographs. You really are bored, arent you . When the weekend are set to be hot and sunny in there so little to talk about, we have to find some exciting things. Last time we looked at some pictures. We will talk about the cloud again, one of our favourite clouds. It looks like a lens, and from below it is sometimes mistaken for a flying saucer. This was taken in rosewell rather than roswell new mexico. This is the satellite picture from yesterday. These little ripples moving across northern britain. That is the cloud. You get them in certain situations, almost as if the air gets trapped between the tops of the mountains and higher in the atmosphere there is only so much wiggle room, and that is what it does, it wriggles through. This isa it does, it wriggles through. This is a beautiful picture from yorkshire, from whitby. I think they are called males tales. And last time we shed you out for the dog. I found some cows sitting in the field. They must have been near the cricket at headingley. Apparently, if cows are sleeping they are called a bulldozer bank holiday humour and we have a westie. So it wont be sunny everywhere. Its only about a0 degrees in shetland. Its a com pletely degrees in shetland. Its a completely different climate across that part of the world. So tell us about the weekend. You have a lot to tell us. There is also to talk about. To the north west, you can see the clouds across shetland. Not everywhere in the uk are we feeling the effects of this warm plume of their coming the effects of this warm plume of theircoming in the effects of this warm plume of their coming in from the south. But their coming in from the south. But the vast majority of the country is, the vast majority of the country is, the temperatures today peaking around 27,28. The temperatures today peaking around 27, 28. Notched in the south east but also across the midlands and northern england, temperatures in the high 20s. A beautiful end to the day on the way. Clear skies for most of the uk tonight. Not necessarily in the Western Isles and northern scotland. Here we are closer to a weather front, just bumping against the High Pressure, it cant move any further to the east. This is what happens when you get this big extensive high across the continent, any weather fronts trying to squeeze and go around it, and that is what the jet strea m around it, and that is what the jet stream is doing. It is riding around at High Pressure. In the High Pressure the weather is settled, sunny and warm. So we are enjoying this continental weather for the weekend. Saturday from the word go, lots of sunshine, temperatures 30 easily in london. Yorkshire, 27. Mid 20s in central scotland. Sunday, because we are closer to whether france and the atlantic, there is a chance of a little more featherweight cloud. Maybe even some rain. Across most of the uk it is a stunning day with very warm weather. 0n stunning day with very warm weather. On monday, slight complications, when weather front trying to move on, so eventually you get the weather going downhill in Northern Ireland and the Western Isles. That is late on monday. Also the chances are the high temperatures we will have experienced may spark a few showers across the pennines. It is a small risk. Small showers. The chances of catching one of very low. Saturday, sunday, monday and possibly tuesday, many of us are in for a very pleasant smell of summertime weather. This is bbc news, our latest headlines. The french president , Emmanuel Macron, threatens to veto a big trade deal between the eu and south american countries, over the fires in the amazon. But the brazilian president accuses World Leaders of a colonial mindset. Police forces across the country observe a minute silence to remember pc Andrew Harper, killed investigating a burglary in berkshire last week. The Prime Minister warns migrants crossing the channel that theyre breaking the law , and will be sent home, after more than 60 people were stopped along britains coast britains coast yesterday. And i think the point i would make to people thinking of making this journey, one it is very hazardous, you may think the weather looks great but it is very dangerous thing to do. The second thing is, we will send you back. And coming up, finding the next crop of farmers. The average age is currently 60 years old. We look at what can be done to breath new life into the industry. Sport now on afternoon live with jane dougall. We have to start with the cricket and its been a terrible day so far for england . A lot of questions to be answered by england after todays batting. All out for 67, that is their lowest score against australia since 19a8. At one point they were 5a 6. So afterjofra archers brilliance with the ball yesterday when he got six wickets for a5 to help topple australia for 179. Everyone was expecting englands batsmen to respond under the blue skies at headingley, but their reply was dismal. Australia did bowl well, consistently challenging the outside edge at a good pace. They were 67 all out injust 27. 5 overs. Joe denly top scored with 12, so that tells you everything you need to know. Josh hazlewood taking 5 30 and pat cummins 3 23. Four catches for david warner at first slip. Remember, this is a critical match for the hosts, they need to win and after a devastating morning they have plenty of work to do. Australia are batting now. Theyve lost 3 wickets david warner, Marcus Harris and usman khawajasjust gone. 533. And you can listen to full match commentary with test match special on 5live sports extra. They are on air right now and there will be in play video highlights alongside the commentary on the bbc sport website. And some football news, the bury owner has been speaking about the club with its future under serious threat . Its a crucial day for bury Football Club. They have until midnight tonight to avoid being expelled from the English Football League. They havent played a match yet this season. Staff havent been paid, its been a mess. The efl want evidence that they can pay off their debts and make it through the league one season. At the centre of all of this is steve dale, the owner who bought the club for £1. He has said that there is an Interested Party in buying the club, and that all he has done is try his best to save the club. Lets hearfrom him now. I am not in control. It is like watching a car crash but you are not holding the steering wheel. We need to try and come up with a plan. But what i am getting sick of is being blamed for someone elses debt. I did not run up this debt with the club. The club was bust beyond belief when i took over. It is now sustainable. The only actions stopping bury, are those of the efl. There is no monetary requirements now for that club to trade. None whatsoever. It has been dreadful. It is the only industry i have been involved where the guy whos trying to save that gets vilified. That is what i dont, it wont. If you have seen some of the dreadful acts that have been done with my family and my home you just think my god. And if i retaliate, i am the bad guy. Well, i wont let people do things to my family. It is not going to happen. The Manchester United manager 0le gunner solskjaer says social Media Companies must stop the spread of hate. Its after his midfielder paul pogba was racially abused online, when he missed a penalty in Uniteds Premier League draw with wolves, on monday. Pogba was the third player in a week to be targeted, and solskjaer says that, whilst the frenchman has the character to deal with it, more needs to be done to stop the abuse. But hes now moved to work with the scottish senior team, and says hes relishing his new role. Thats all the sport for now. Ill have more for you in the next hour. Back to brexit, and it has been a big week for borisjohnson as he made his debut on the world stage as Prime Minister, with visits to germany, to meet Angela Merkel, and to france to meet Emmanuel Macron. With the october the 31st deadline looming ever closer, mrjohnson will attend the g7 summit tomorrow in biarritz, france, alongside other leaders including donald trump. To discuss how the week has gone for the Prime Minister, i am joined by asa bennett the telegraphs brexit commissioning editor. And joeyjones the journalist and former press it feels like so much has happened. And so little. Lets start with what you hope he was think he was hoping to achieve. Where the serious attem pts hoping to achieve. Where the serious atte m pts to hoping to achieve. Where the serious attempts to find ground for renegotiation . 0r attempts to find ground for renegotiation . Or was it more of a gesture . Renegotiation . Or was it more of a gesture . I think there is a key yardstick which is not to look silly. Stepping onto the world stage, were all still pinching ourselves at the idea of him being Prime Minister, and he probably as well. And making sure that he measures up well. And making sure that he measures up in that company is really important and i imagine there will have been some nerves for him and his entourage. Against that yardstick, i think he has done all right. It has been fine but the next couple of days will be more testing. There is always more theatre, choreography, about of machismo, i remember the 0bama, putin handshakes we have seen over the years. And people endeavouring to show they are top dog. I think that could be interesting. And the top dog is donald trump of course even though they are supposed to be friends it is hard tojudge your they are supposed to be friends it is hard to judge your appearances next to such an unpredictable politician . Certainly with someone like donald trump wanting to be the best friend there ever was, Boris Johnson does face a choice. He wants everyone to got on with him. Global britain, friend of all, but trump would like him to be friends on issues not everyone agrees with. Iran, huawei, so borisjohnson will have to navigate this line. We understand he will have a breakfast with the president. And if that relationship is too special it could work people like Emmanuel Macron who was warning that you should not be leading the eu to become a junior partner of the us. So it is a balancing act. As brexit takes shape, borisjohnson balancing act. As brexit takes shape, Boris Johnson have balancing act. As brexit takes shape, borisjohnson have to make clear where his priorities lies. Macron had a bromance with trump but airand was macron had a bromance with trump but air and was causing up to Vladimir Putin or talking about an overall. This time they were booted out as what was the g8 because of the crimea situation. And i think that is still an area where there could be some dispute because donald trump has suggested that could be reversed. I was just wondering has suggested that could be reversed. I wasjust wondering on that question of the trump, there was some suggestion whenjohn bolton was some suggestion whenjohn bolton was in town that they might use the opportunity to launch some kind of road map towards a uk us trade deal which would presumably be that anything that would arc the europeans at the g7, if they were to use it as a photo opportunity for that. I think the europeans are reasonably philosophical about stuff at the moment and they are taking the longer view. They recognise that borisjohnson will need or will require some tangible successes to ta ke require some tangible successes to take home and i would be surprised if that was ruffled to many feathers. They know he is heading down that route but they also, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron where a million recently in the way they receive them but they also outmanoeuvred him. They put him in a situation where they have basically said not yourself out, come back with a new plan in the next weeks and we will run with it. Safe in the knowledge that there is not a cat in hells chance of that happening. That is the interesting thing. In a sense, the part of boriss rhetoric has been to say were desperate for a deal but the europeans wont talk to us. And now they are saying they are happy to talk. Effectively what they are saying is if you can prove there is an alternative we like as well, then we will think about it. But at the end of the day, i suppose borisjohnson knows but at the end of the day, i suppose Boris Johnson knows this. But at the end of the day, i suppose borisjohnson knows this. That is why as soon as there was a 30 day timetable thrown out, that the Prime Minister said was a blistering timetable, we will do our best, they wrote back saying it was aspirational. The big timetable that matters is 315t of october. So the hope among the pms team is that when you get down to it, in a way that theresa may never managed, then septemberand that theresa may never managed, then september and october is when the real compromises happened. Leaving aside barely, and paris, lets talk about cornwall, newton abbot in devon, all these small visits in the uk the Prime Minister is doing two seats that look suspiciously like marginal seats in a general election. Do you think the drumbeat ofan election. Do you think the drumbeat of an election is audible now . The government hangs by a thread. It has got a majority currently of one with the support of the dup. There may be tory mps who flit in the next couple of weeks. Big symbolic moment, and it is not out of the question that a vote of confidence would bring the government down. So in that context they would be crazy not to consider what would happen if they were propelled into a general election. We also know that there is a majority against no deal in the parliament and some parliamentarians and conservatives trying to work out whether they can obstruct the path that the Prime Minister has laid out. So in that context, he has to consider that it may be the only role of the dice, an electoral event, role of the dice, an electoral eve nt, m ost role of the dice, an electoral event, most likely a general election but conceivably a referendum, could be the only way of breaking the logjam so it must be on the agenda. Last thought. There is not a majority on how to stop no deal. They dont know if they have a law if the can stop it at all. Hence borisjohnsons ploughing law if the can stop it at all. Hence Boris Johnsons ploughing ahead. Have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend, i hope it is the calm before the storm. All week long weve been focussing on the issues affecting farming and one of those is how much the industry is ageing. The average farm owner is 60 years old and most of the time farms are passed down within families. The National Federation of Young Farmers is warning more needs to be done to breathe new life into the industry. Our correspondent Sally Challoner is on a farm in north somerset. You have found somewhere else to stand . I am at the part of the farm that runs farm link. They bring primary age children to come into learn about farming. We have spoken a lot about sustainable farming. Take a look at that lovely pond the belt in an unproductive part of the of the farm. I have come to meet nick, one of the trustees of farm link. How important is it to get children learning about the stuff . It is really important children understand we are their food comes from and it influences their consumer decisions. There is a disconnect between us as Food Producers and the environment it is produced in and the consumer population. We feel his reimport and to teach children about where that food actually comes from and what goes into it. Really important to teach children. We have heard the average age of farmers is 60 years old. How can you encourage younger people into the industry . As well as explaining where food comes from, give an idea ofjob opportunities. It is notjust about milking cows and driving tractors. All the research that goes into agriculture, you could be a scientist, magician, you could be a scientist, magician, you could be a scientist, magician, you could milk a cow if you want to, bea you could milk a cow if you want to, be a robotic engineer. The opportunities are endless. And that is one of the things we are trying to explain. A scientist or a mathematician. People dont know what jobs there mathematician. People dont know whatjobs there are. Teachers. Mathematician. People dont know what jobs there are. Teachersm mathematician. People dont know what jobs there are. Teachers. It is no fault of the teacher but there is an understanding developing and if they get back to schools and talk to careers advisers, they get an understanding and our door is always open. We will always answer the phone if people want to talk to us about opportunities in the agricultural industry. Colleges and universities are well versed in the opportunities so personally i would encourage anybody to get involved with the industry at as young an age as possible. On a day like today it is glorious but on monday it was torrential rain and pretty grim. Is glorious but on monday it was torrential rain and pretty grimm was torrential rain and pretty grimm was and you can understand anyone who turns their nose up at that. But if you get to the right position you can stay inside on a day like that. There was talk recently about getting a gcse for agriculture. What would that do for the industry . Getting a gcse for agriculture. What would that do for the industry7m would that do for the industry7m would mean people increase their understanding of it and i would never give a negative response to anything like that. Any education is good and if there is a gcse in farming then great because it will fill a niche and people can look at that. They dont necessarily need to be corralled into that one thing. Science and maths and english are really important. So whilst it would bea really important. So whilst it would be a good idea, it would complement everything else. Agriculture is no different from any industry, you need to be reasonably well educated to get a good understanding of it. Thank you very much. There are some crops that the children have been planting all year which they will be harvesting, tempting. It looks glorious in somerset. Have a lovely holiday weekend. For more go to our website. Thats at bbc. Co. Uk focus on farming. In a moment rebecca is going to bring us the latest business news. First a look at the headlines on afternoon live france threatens to veto a big trade deal between the eu and south american countries, unless brazil does more to fight the fires in the amazon. Tributes to pc Andrew Harper a week after he was killed in the line of duty, with a minutes silence being observed by forces across the country. China is set to impose a tariff of up to 10 on 75 billion of goods, imported from the us, as the trade battle between the two superpowers escalates. Agricultural goods, crude oil and small aircraft are among the products being targeted. Its a response to the tariffs the us is slapping on china. Big news on the toy front today, a takeover of peppa pig by us toy giant hasbro. A major toy story. Peppa pig very valuable shares in Entertainment One which owns the rights to peppa up 30 on news of this dealmore than £3 billion hasbro, such a big company, has things like my little pony and transformers franchises, as well as the monopoly board game and play doh. The deal is worth more than £3 billion. Hasbro, 30 higher price than the market had valued at. Why is it prepared to pay such a premium . Market had valued at. Why is it prepared to pay such a premium7m is purely down to the quality of the assets we are talking about. Peppa pig has developed into an evergreen property, in going nearly 15 years. And year by year it performs really strongly. There are new audiences all the time for it. If a child came to four years ago has grown out of it but may have young siblings. So the audience is constantly refreshing. It is being panned out into other countries, a big success in china. Notjust peppa pig, other properties will follow. They are also investing on developing new properties such as ricky resume. Which is Great Potential for licensing. Will we see any change . Presumably not, it is such an asset. It is, but it is more thanjust a show children watch, it is also an all round entertainment property. And increasingly there are experiential things going along with peppa pig. Soft play and characters dressed up as. Sorry, peppa pig is really there. And the larger theme parks so it is not a passive experience for kids who watch it. |j dont want to upset anyone but how was peppa pig created . Where does she come from . I cant help you afraid. Once upon a time . He was always around, he was just discovered. Think peppa pig is a garrulous. But we can forgive ourselves peppa pig is a girl. Ftse is up and more from the market in the next hour. Borisjohnson has said the nhs does an amazing job but that the quality of hospital meals is too variable. His comments come after the Great British bake 0ffjudge, prue leith, was brought in to advise caterers and drive up standards, in a government review of hospital food. Earlier this year, six patients died from listeria after eating pre packed sandwiches. Our Health Correspondent, Dominic Hughes, reports. In england alone, the nhs produces around 1a0 million meals a year, so getting catering in hospitals right is clearly a challenge. For years, campaigners have argued the quality of hospital meals needs to be improved. Now, the bake 0ffjudge, restauranteur and chef, prue leith, is to advise whats being billed as a root and branch review of hospital catering. It seems to me so obvious that, if youre in a hospital, you need to be fed healthily food is medicine. But its notjust about health, its about pleasure. I mean, why not take the opportunity of lunch or supper to give patients, who are not having a joyous time in hospital, no ones there voluntarily, a bit of pleasure in their lives . But other famous chefs have been down this road before. 25 years ago, albert roux was asked to do much the same thing. He was followed by lloyd grossman, and, more recently, james martin was given a similar task. Yet in 2013, a report found that more than £50 million had been wasted, not on poorfood, but on failed schemes to improve quality. Im a bit cynical. Weve seen different reviews over the last ten, 15 years, that have looked into improving hospital food and nothing really has happened. And we hear from patients every day, providing pictures of fairly disgusting food.
