And helen has and we are probably going hello, this is afternoon live to go home and rebook. All the weather. Having quite a bit of impact on events being planned. Im martine croxall. We have been at the airport going up and down for about three hours. Absolutely, everyone is out at this and we have concluded the best thing time of year, the middle of the the uk Food Industry has asked the government to waive competition to do is to leave because were School Holidays for many. Not only not going to be rebooked on anything laws to help cope with possible expecting more wet weather but shortages if britain and we will need to book leaves the European Union unusually windy weather for the time without a deal in october. A whole new flight. Existing rules prohibit and our bag has gone, of year. It could cause quite a lot suppliers and retailers so its a complete nightmare. Discussing supply or pricing the problem is a system failure. But industry bosses say two, to be exact. They will need to Work Together to prevent shortages one with the booking system, of year. It could cause quite a lot of impact. More in half an hour. And other problems. Today bbc news is taking a close another with flight departures. Look at the implications of a no deal brexit. Passengers want to be able to use the phrase refers to the uk leaving mobile apps and Internet Services the European Union with no to book flights and check in. Formal agreement in place but in order to deliver those, about the future relationship hello, everyone between the uk and the eu in other a lot of the underlying it systems this is afternoon live. Im martine croxall. Words, cutting ties immediately that they are running on are quite old, legacy, and they probably the uk Food Industry has asked and leaving the single have not been upgraded for quite a few years. The government to waive competition market and customs union. And one of the reasons laws to help cope with possible it means there would be for that is airlines are under huge shortages if britain leaves the European Union no transition period pressure to cut costs. Where rules and regulations without a deal in october. Would remain largely the same for anyone who has a cancelled short existing rules prohibit suppliers and retailers haul flight with British Airways discussing supply or pricing while talks are held but industry bosses say about a trade deal. Today, you are being told to either they will need to Work Together go home or check into a hotel. To prevent shortages if a deal is not agreed, and other problems. You will be reimbursed today bbc news is taking a close leaving without one but you will have to re book is the legal default your flights online. Look at the implications of a no deal brexit. Unless parliament prevents it. The phrase refers to the uk leaving our correspondent victoria fritz the European Union with no is ata birmingham marketand has formal agreement in place been talking to suppliers about why about the future relationship the Food Industry wants British Airways say the problem has between the uk and the eu in other a change to the regulations. Words, cutting ties immediately and leaving the single affected heathrow, gatwick, London City Airport and will have a market and customs union. The unlikely front line knock on effect across the country. It means there would be no transition period in the latest battle over brexit. With an update due later this where rules and regulations half of the food we consume, afternoon, its going to be a long we buy in from abroad, would remain largely the same day for many passengers waiting while talks are held mostly from the eu. For a short haul flight. The industry is calling leigh milner, bbc news. About a trade deal. On the government to relax competition rules if a deal is not agreed, so companies can better coordinate leaving without one britains food supply. Is the legal default as we understand it, lets return now to our main story unless parliament prevents it. Our correspondent victoria fritz this is a power that the secretary the uk Food Industry has asked is ata birmingham marketand has of state for business has. The government to waive competition been talking to suppliers about why laws to help cope with possible the Food Industry wants it was used last, i think, during the financial crisis shortages if britain leaves a change to the regulations. When there were talks the European Union between the banks. Without a deal in october. So i dont think its today bbc news is taking a close a very difficult thing look at the implications for government to do, of a no deal brexit. Though obviously it is a big signal lets go live to peterhead of no deal preparedness. In north east scotland now and speak we have mushrooms here to our correspondent james shaw. The unlikely front line which have come from poland. Whats the preparation being made in the latest battle over brexit. Marks business is the oldest fruit there to cope with a no deal brexit . Half of the food we consume, and veg wholesaler in europe. We buy in from abroad, he has been planning for brexit thats a very good question, and mostly from the eu. For months, assurances from the government or not. The industry is calling probably the question a lot of fishermen and people in the fish on the government to relax we spoke to logistical Companies Competition rules so companies can better coordinate over in france, in spain. Processing business are asking right britains food supply. We made all the necessary now. Fish is incredibly important in as we understand it, this is a power that the secretary attachments here. The north east of scotland. The we spoke to suppliers, value of the fish landed here in of state for business has. Weve done all the paperwork. It was used last, i think, and we are ready peterhead last year was £202 during the financial crisis to roll with it now. When there were talks whether it is deal or no deal, million. There are 110 votes in this between the banks. So i dont think its we are ready, and i dont think, harbour, the biggest in the uk, and a very difficult thing with the supply chain as it is, for government to do, i dont think well somebody who can give us a sense of though obviously it is a big signal of no deal preparedness. Have a problem at all. The preparations is jimmy, for some here its notjust we have mushrooms here about managing risk which have come from poland. Its about seizing opportunity. Somebody who can give us a sense of the preparations isjimmy, the head of the scottish seafood association. Marks business is the oldest fruit and veg wholesaler in europe. No deal brexit, come he has been planning for brexit the 31st of october 110 for months, assurances good or bad for your business . Of the scottish seafood association. From the government or not. Necessary, i do believe. 110 boats. Of the scottish seafood association. 110 boats. Since there has been a we spoke to logistical companies change of administration and prime over in france, in spain. Unless a deal can be struck minister, and he has made it quite we made all the necessary on favourable terms for britain, clear that he is prepared to walk attachments here. It looks like it will away without a deal, and we are all we spoke to suppliers, be, regretfully, necessary. Weve done all the paperwork. I dont think it will make hoping there will be a deal yet, but and we are ready a lot of difference to us we have to be practical. There is to roll with it now. In the fish industry. Whether it is deal or no deal, our british water areas that risk. And not to be prepared we are ready, and i dont think, are going to be expanded again would be foolish. We are full on with the supply chain as it is, so we have more control over british i dont think well seas and also a lot of the stuff heading towards preparations for a have a problem at all. No deal situation. Right now, how for some here its notjust that we buy is from outside the eu, prepared is the industry . The about managing risk india and asia and that. So it shouldnt make that much difference. Industry is very aware of it. What its about seizing opportunity. The consensus here is that there could be longer term benefits we need to do is make sure we engage no deal brexit, come the 31st of october good or bad for your business . To being out of the eu. But todays warning is about how with the right people in both the necessary, i do believe. To keep shelves stocked in the meantime for the busiest time Scottish Parliament, scottish of year for the industry, ministers, and in westminster. We unless a deal can be struck the run up to christmas. Have to work with both on favourable terms for britain, i dont want no deal. Administrations. Its difficult it looks like it will be, regretfully, necessary. Because in the political spectrum i dont think it will make i want a deal with a big trading partner. They are polar opposites. Its very a lot of difference to us in the fish industry. But, believe me, brussels our british water areas have got to understand difficult to make sure that our are going to be expanded again they have a responsibility needs and requests are being so we have more control over british here and theyve got to stop being seas and also a lot of the stuff in their bunker, blaming britain. Listened to and adhered to stop. Are that we buy is from outside the eu, and once we know in Business India and asia and that. So it shouldnt make that much difference. Where we are, you leave it to us. You confident the preparations will the consensus here is that there be in place by the end of october . The government says it is working could be longer term benefits closely with the Food Industry. Of all the meetings i have been to being out of the eu. But, for businesses here attending, i of all the meetings i have been attending, lam of all the meetings i have been and across the country, attending, i am telling every ministerl attending, i am telling every minister i meet that we must be the detail of that support brexit ready at the end of but todays warning is about how will be crucial. Victoria fritz, bbc september. I asked if you are to keep shelves stocked confident and you didnt say, which in the meantime for the busiest time makes me think you are not. There is of year for the industry, the run up to christmas. News, birmingham. Risk in all of this. There is risk. I dont want no deal. I want a deal with a big trading partner. Lets go tojohn campbell at a food but, believe me, brussels business at banbridge are we confident . Yes, because we have got to understand in Northern Ireland, are resilient people and we will they have a responsibility which trades across the border make it work, but we dont want is here and theyve got to stop being in their bunker, blaming britain. With the Irish Republic. Not to make it work as smoothly as and once we know in business possible, so it has the least impact what is the Irish Government saying on the industry and the people about what it would do with regard where we are, you leave it to us. Working in the industry, who depend to the border between the republic on it for their living. We are now the government says it is working and the north of ireland in the closely with the Food Industry. Talking about peoples jobs, which but, for businesses here and across the country, event of a no deal brexit . Could potentially be in the threat the detail of that support and the north of ireland in the event of a Nodeal Brexit . That is will be crucial. Victoria fritz, bbc in the short or arguably the long still one of the big unanswered term. I dont disagree that there questions of brexit, because the news, birmingham. Irish government policy has always will be disruption and there will be been that whatever happens there our knees, but we also have to look would be no hardening of the border. John campbell is spending at the bigger picture, is what is the day at a food business thats actually going to be quite at banbridge in Northern Ireland, difficult to achieve in the context beyond brexit. Will be our knees. Which trades across the border with the Irish Republic. Ofa hes been finding out difficult to achieve in the context of a no deal brexit because we know about the impact a no deal scenario that eu rules on Food Products in there is a sea of opportunity could have on cross border trade. Particular are very strict. They say meaning all coastal communities will they must be checked at the thrive and grow in a new post brexit immediate point of entry into the eu era. Is it shortterm pain and long and that would be Food Products, term gain, and can you be certain remember, the Irish Government animals coming from the north into policy has always been that whatever there will be gain in the long term . The south, and technically a no deal happens they will be no hardening of they should be checked at the what i cant give you the assurance the border. Thats actually going to be quite difficult to achieve in the border. The Irish Government to set it doesnt want to have checks at context of a no deal brexit because is of what the political masters the border, so what will it do . The will do, but we have to do ourjob, we know the eu rules on food taoiseach, leo varadkar, the irish lobbying well and making sure the products in particular are very Prime Minister, has talked about message is heard loud and clear that strict. They say they must be checked out the immediate point of various things, customs procedure we need Thriving Industries and that could take place away from the entry into the eu. That would be border but it doesnt deal with this means government ministers should Food Products, animals coming from and must listen to us. Would you the north into the south, and very specific issue of food, the technically a no deal they should be prefer a no deal brexit to a managed checked at that border. The irish Irish Governments most recent contingency plan says there will be government says it doesnt want to checks and controls but does not say brexit with a deal . Obviously a have checks at the border so what where they will be. The eu has said managed brexit with a deal is the will it do . Leo varadkar, the ina no where they will be. The eu has said in a no deal there would have to be taoiseach, the irish Prime Minister, checks and controls but it does not has talked about various things elaborate where those would be. What numberone managed brexit with a deal is the number one choice. But if the negotiations are at a stage where we where you could have for example customs procedures taking place away the Irish Government have been saying up until now, they would want are paralysed, we asked duck in a from the border but that doesnt deal with the very specific issue of the uk government to check Food Products coming from Great Britain food that the Irish Governments into Northern Ireland at irish sea most food that the Irish Governments m ost rece nt food that the Irish Governments most recent contingency plan says ports and therefore they wouldnt guddle to use a scottish term, we they will be checks and controls but have to be checked as they cross the does not say where they will be. The have to accept no deal is on the irish border. But in the context of eu have also said that yes in a no deal they would have to be checks no deal, i think that would be a table and we are prepared for it. And controls but again doesnt huge step for the uk government to elaborate on where those would be. Ta ke huge step for the uk government to take because in effect they would be we are stuck in a guddle. The what the irish covenant have really saying, we didnt get a deal because been saying up until now is they we couldnt agree to implement the would want the uk government to backstop, but now we are voluntarily check Food Products coming from implementing part of that backstop confusion and uncertainty, thats Great Britain into Northern Ireland where his industry is at the moment, by checking products as they come till we know whether it will be a at irish sea ports meaning they from Great Britain into northern wouldnt have to be checked as they deal or no deal. James sure in crossed the irish border. But in the ireland. Really, the irish context of no deal, i think that government are saying their would be a huge step for the uk preferred option relies on the peterhead, thank you. Some breaking cooperation of the uk and that news regarding Whaley Bridge in government to take because in effect they would be saying, we didnt get cooperation of the uk and that cooperation will be required just at derbyshire. Where we know around a deal because we couldnt agree to the point where relations between the point where relations between the uk and ireland would be at their 1500 people were asked to leave implement the backstop but now we most tense. What might it mean for their homes last week. Thats while are voluntarily implementing part of that backstop by checking products the cost of food if there isnt a as they come from Great Britain into water was pumped from the local Northern Ireland. So really the deal, then tariffs surely could be Irish Government are saying their imposed. Thats the really big worry preferred option relies on the reservoir to ensure the stability of cooperation of the uk and that the dam wall that needed to be for businesses like this. This is a inspected for damage after partially cooperation of the uk and that cooperation would be required just big agri food business, turning collapsing. We now understand from at the point where relations between the uk and ireland would be at their over half £1 billion per year. Businesses like this are most deputy chief constable rachel is one most tense. John campbell in of Derbyshire Police that the danger posed by millions of tonnes of water vulnerable in the event of no deal banbridge in Northern Ireland. That could have destroyed homes and because so much product crosses the our correspondent andy moore is in dover, looking at the issues irish border in both directions, for transport and freight. Livelihoods, that couldnt be with food that could cross the underestimated, is now dealt with. Border several times for processing she says that we cant forget the the port of dover behind me, such an and packaging before it reaches the dam is broken. But she goes on to consumer. In the event of no deal, say she can confirm it is now safe there would be tariffs on food and people can go back to their important port for uk plc, around products going from north to south, homes. The Environment Agency, one 70 of all our trade comes through that will apply, and they will be this port. Every day, 10,500 lorries high tariffs on things like meat and dairy products. They would also face of the authority is working to secure the dam, say they want to through dover and another 4500, 5000 new nontariff barriers like thank residents for their patience increased paperwork. The northern going through the channel tunnel at ireland civil service, in a report and understanding during this folkestone just down the road. With incident. Authorities are now in the they prepared last month, said much process of putting in place plans to me to talk about the implications of of the trade would simply become help residents return to their homes a no deal brexit is Heidi Skinner uneconomical overnight and would and this will be completed in the stop, putting thousands ofjobs at from the trade transport association. Is the port of dover risk. A business of this size has coming hours. There will remain a and Great Britain ready for a been able to try to mitigate some of visible Police Presence in and no deal brexit . Around the area for the next seven those impacts but only by spending and Great Britain ready for a Nodeal Brexit . Logistics and days to help the community and to Freight Companies are prepared as much as they can be, but we are address any concerns. There are £20 million buying a business across struggling with more information from government to make sure we are the border in donegal in the irish still road restrictions on how you border ready and we dont have the republic. But further down the information to tell our members to can approach Whaley Bridge. But good make sure they can have that supply train, forth smaller businesses, they dont have the seamless and frictionless access to financial power to do that sort of the continent and that is what we news for those people who have not are calling for. Representatives of thing, so they are seen to be the been able to be in their homes in Whaley Bridge for the best part of a your industry or meeting ministers most vulnerable businesses across the uk and ireland if we get that here today. What will you tell them . Week, they can now begin to return. Kind of no deal. John campbell in precisely that. We need to banbridge in Northern Ireland, thank understand what border readiness looks like so that freight can keep you. Our banbridge in Northern Ireland, thank you. 0urand banbridge in Northern Ireland, thank you. Our and andy moore is in dover on moving. At the moment we dont a future Labour Government would not and we canjoin him now. Matt our block a second Scottish Independence referendum, have that information and we cant according to the shadow chancellorJohn Mcdonnell. Communicate it to our members. In an interview in edinburgh correspondent. Things like the customs which appeared to contradict declarations, what will that look the put behind me, one of the the view of the scottish labour like, the duties that need to be busiest in the uk, 70 of all the leader he said any decision about holding a vote would be up paid, all those systems and trade in the uk comes through this processes, we are not able to to the Scottish Parliament. Prepare for. Is your fear that we port, 10,500 lorries per day, our Political Correspondent pete saull is in westminster. Something like five or 6000 per day are going to see long queues of ths has caused a big row down the road at folkestone and the within labour hasnit it . Lorries here at dover, october 31, channel tunnel. If there is going to it certainly has. John mcdonnell has be bea channel tunnel. If there is going to be be a pinch point and problems spoken at another event at the november one . We are certainly with a no deal brexit, you will see Edinburgh Festival today, and he has concerned about delays. Lots of them here. Duncan buchanan from the said, yes, if we were to get into Freight Logistics work on just in Road Haulage Association is with me. Power, we would not stand in the way time deliveries. We dont want sort of problems, what could happen ofa power, we would not stand in the way perishable goods stuck in delays so in the event of a no deal brexit . Of a second Scottish Independence referendum if the Scottish Parliament wanted to see that. The its vital we can prepare problem with that, if you look at effectively. With just under three the key issue is that traders and months to go until we leave, we operators are not prepared for the 2017 general election manifesto dont have the information we can whats coming next in terms of for labour, it states that they give to our members, so we are brexit. The paperwork requirements, oppose another referendum and the prepared as we can be, but we need party leader in scotland, richard more from government. There have there is an order of magnitude leonard, is not best pleased about different from what there is at the it, saying he met withJohn Mcdonnell today and said the moment. Effectively a seamless scottish people do not want another been operation preparedness to put divisive referendum, even if border becomes a hard Customs Border lorries into old airfield. Is that plan ready to go . We have been from the 31st october. The scale of actually some recent polling suggests support for independence is paperwork is enormous and is often working closely with government and growing slightly since Boris Johnson other agencies on that. There is misunderstood and not appreciated. Each one of the lorries, you mention became Prime Minister here in lots more to do. We need to make london. Others are very angry about sure those drivers are left after. 15,000 lorries adding up between the drivers are doing a fantastic dover and the tunnel. Each one of this. Douglas alexander, a former job trying to deliver freight across those lorries could have one cabinet minister under tony blair shipment or 10,000 shipments. Every the uk on the continent and went to one of those has to have customs and secretary of state for scotland, look after their welfare. Drivers he describesJohn Mcdonnells comments as dumb and strikingly are looked after. We dont know how processes around it. Unfortunately long delays will be and its vital at the montgomerie traders, ignorant. Others were leaping to the importers and exporters do not know their welfare is maintained. Are you what they need to do to make that shadow chancellors defence. Mp working on the assumption there will clive lewis said now the partys be delays and its just a question position is to back another brexit of how long they will be . Yeah, work. Referendum, its pretty sensible to without the information we are what they need to do to make that work. Unfortunately what they need to do to make that work. Unfortunately at the say they would be open to the idea looking for from government to make moment, traders. We need guidance our freight board is ready, we can ofa say they would be open to the idea of a Scottish Independence referendum. Pete saull in so that can be brought in and anticipate delays, yes. Heidi, thank westminster, thank you. Handled effectively. If we fail to you. The industry here, the road do that, the queues can be 24, 48, haulage industry, anticipating the Music Festival boardmasters delays but the question is how long. 72 do that, the queues can be 24,48, 72 hours long all the way up the has been cancelled, just hours before it was set to begin. Representatives of the industry motorway and throughout kent. What the three day event meeting ministers right now at the headlined by wu tang clan, do those queues mean for those florence and the machines, port to put their concerns to and foals, was set to take place working in the road haulage ministers. Andy moore in dover, association if they happen . Those in newquay this weekend. Organisers the decision was taken queues are predicted to have happen. Following extreme weather warnings. Thank you. And there are live updates online about the cancellation of boa rdmasters, including the latest travel and weather. We are planning around those 24 72 hour queues. Drivers therefore need and at 3 30pm, well be asking what leaving the eu toilet and welfare facilities. We time for a look at the weather. Without a deal could mean heres helen. For security and citizens dont want Truck Drivers going to rights. The toilet on the side of the road. That will be with generally speaking it feels pretty dr Alison Wakefield, this is the 21st century, not the unseasonal for august. A security expert, and Hedwig Hegtermans 19th century. We shouldnt be treating people as badly as this. A member of the 3 million, drivers need to be treated with it is, and its not unheard of, with which is a group of eu citizens in the uk. Respect and we need facilities in so please do get in touch with the weather throwing up deep areas place for drivers while they are of low pressure once or twice during whatever questions you might have engaging in these idle queues, which British Airways has cancelled almost a hundred short haul flights are completely unproductive from the because of technical problems the summer. But when they come along affecting its check in systems. Road haulage point of view, and even during the Holiday Season, it has a thousands of travellers are facing delays and long queues. Worse for importers and exporters, huge impact. This is what we are leigh milner reports from heathrow. It means they dont know when the goods they are buying or selling concerned about, we have a deep and this was the scene at 8 30am this morning in terminal 5 will get to the other end. One study low pressure associated with it but at heathrow airport. Its unusually far south. Normally hundreds of passengers queueing here has said if there is a two at this time of year the jet stream at check in to find out whats minute extra delay at customs here, pushes this low pressure system to happening to their flights. Then, at 9 00am, this happened. The north of the uk, perhaps pushing that can mean a 17 mile queue. Unfortunately, i apologise, another minute of delay, it means scotla nd the north of the uk, perhaps pushing scotland and Northern Ireland but it but weve had an it system failure this morning. Is significantly further south meaning england and wales will see we are currently unable to do another ten miles, so a lot of the strongest wind. And it is a two a number of activities concern here at dover. Andy moore, through our it systems. Thank you. That does mean that any short haul tier attack, the rain after what has flights this morning been a very wet spell of weather are currently cancelled. Weve heard about the effect over the last couple of weeks, a no deal brexit could have we are being told our flight on the supply chain in the uk, particularly over the northern half has been cancelled. Its not going to be rebooked today. But what about in of the country. We are concerned, a other eu countries . And we basically were told we either jennny hill is in plethora of warnings are out. We have to book a hotel dont usually show yellow warnings for the night or go home. Esbjerg in denmark. Our next flight, weve been because they are ten a penny, but good afternoon from the west coast told, is friday at 5pm. They can be impactful this week. All and we are probably going of denmark. Every day from their of us will have wet weather on to go home and rebook. We have been at the airport going up support a ship set sail for england and down for about three hours. Friday. Then on saturday, the and comes back again, 1. 6 million and we have concluded the best thing thunderstorms become slower moving to do is to leave because were not tonnes of goods are exchanged every across northern england, Northern Ireland and scotland. The met office going to be rebooked on anything year between those two ports. A lot will name a storm depending on the and we will need to book a whole new flight. Of it takes the shape of bacon. Impact. The impact is how many and our bag has gone, britain doesnt produce anywhere people it will effect, things like so its a complete nightmare. Trees being in leaf with gale force near enough bacon to supply domestic the problem is a system failure. Demand, so it imports from the eu, winds forecast, it could bring two, to be exact. Branches down and the odd tree. The one with the booking system, from the netherlands, germany and likelihood of it happening as well. Another with flight departures. At the moment, this particular denmark, its largest supplier of passengers want to be able to use pressure area with low level gales mobile apps and Internet Services pork products. But producers here to book flights and check in. Are telling us if a no deal brexit is sitting high in the likelihood, but in order to deliver those, occurs then it is possible that not and we only need the wind speed a lot of the underlying it systems only would bacon prices rise in forecast to go up a little bit for that they are running on are quite it to become an amber warning. At old, legacy, and they probably britain, its also possible britain have not been upgraded could run short altogether. The moment it is not being named as for quite a few years. And one of the reasons a storm but its impact will be for that is airlines are under huge pressure to cut costs. Significant. If it was in october we wouldnt be worried about it because for anyone who has a cancelled short it is parfor the danish born and bred for the british wouldnt be worried about it because it is par for the course but everybody is out at the moment. Haul flight with British Airways today, you are being told to either brea kfast danish born and bred for the british breakfast table. For denmarks pig thats it, as you plan so many go home or check into a hotel. You will be reimbursed farmers, the uk market has been events, like boa rdmasters, thats it, as you plan so many but you will have to re book events, like boardmasters, which we have talked about, which are weather your flights online. Solid, dependable. They are not sure British Airways say the problem now, seeking out other customers. In dependent. This will be music to the ears of many people. It really is. You can see here on whaley lane where we were a couple of hours ago, the road closures were still in place, and police in derbyshire have said those cordons have now been lifted apart from one. Residents have been residents in Whaley Bridge can return home nearly a week after they were evacuated over told that they can go back to their fears of a damaged dam. People were removed from their homes homes. In the past 15 minutes or so last thursday after the structure at toddbrook reservoir was affected weve seen cal starting to go into by heavy rain. Fiona trott has the latest. This is what Whaley Bridge looks like. It Whaley Bridge. The first was a man had been a ghost town for the past seven days, but now you can see who owns a Chinese Restaurant in people from derbyshire county Whaley Bridge, who wound down his council helping to get things back window and was cheering at the top to normal here with police of his voice. But himself and other coordinating on the ground. It seems that as soon as the message got out Business People in the town have been the first people to go through, that as soon as the message got out that yes, all but one of the cordons and they have a big job on their hands. I caught a man a few moments had been lifted, all those remaining hundreds of residents could return ago he owns a supermarket in Whaley Bridge. He said we will not be open to their homes, people were ready to just yet, we got to do a stock take. Spring into action. One of them is a lot of things will be out of date. With me here. You run the indian they are getting their orders back restau ra nt with me here. You run the Indian Restaurant here next to the train in again. But think of all those station, the takeaway. Were you people we have spoken to over the waiting and looking at your phone to see when you could get inside . past week, people who could not get to work because of the evacuation order. People who were divided with waiting and looking at your phone to see when you could get inside . I was waiting nearby to get the news to come into the shop. Ijust came to one partner living on one side of Whaley Bridge, his partner living on the other side. Normally it would check the food, throw it all the ta ke the other side. Normally it would take them three minutes to see each other and they couldnt, it would way. Check the food, throw it all the way. Throw check the food, throw it all the way. Throw it all the way . All of ta ke other and they couldnt, it would take about 20 25 minutes to see each the food will be getting bad. What other. A couple getting married this have you thrown away . The chicken, weekend, they couldnt return to almost all of it. We have to start their homes. The woman who had a nursery school. She had to take all from scratch. I have to come round tomorrow at 10am, do all the cooking of the children elsewhere. Luckily a school gave them a space to take all and hopefully open in the afternoon. Of those children. She was offering you are going to have to get all spaces for others. All of those your ingredients, everything, is people affected by this. Now, they this something you order in or will can people affected by this. Now, they ca n start you have to go out and buy it people affected by this. Now, they can start getting their lives back yourself . Some of it i have to buy to normal. You can see how work is myself and some of it i order in and taking place to make sure that people can now get down into whaley i will have to ask them to do a delivery at ten oclock tomorrow bridge itself. We saw a few minutes morning to get time to prepare all the food. We have to cook everything ago as well, police cars going down into Whaley Bridge with bags. Part fresh. What do you have on your ofa into Whaley Bridge with bags. Part list . So far, chicken, tandoori of a rapid response, full of sandwiches, crisps, snacks for chicken, lamb chop, lettuce, lemon, people because as they start to get back into their homes, hundreds and flour, oil. I havent finished hundreds of people with children, of checking everything yet. You will course, too, they will want try to get most of that yourself and something to eat, while they are then see if you can get other stuff . Unpacking, settling back in, and yeah. You say you will have to be some of them may be making frantic here at ten oclock tomorrow morning, and you are confident you phone calls, because for some of can open tomorrow evening. Them as it turned out last night, morning, and you are confident you can open tomorrow eveninglj morning, and you are confident you can open tomorrow evening. I will get my staff as well. If four offers theres residents returning to the work over three or four hours we other side of the reservoir, their will be prepared to. And they are ok gas supplies had been switched off. To come to work . Where have you and things like that have to start theyve been living . Happening now, but as you say, after to come to work . Where have you and theyve been living . |j to come to work . Where have you and theyve been living . I have been living in ashton. My chef is happy seven days of being out of their own to come down, i have spoken to him. Homes, feeling like guests in other peopleshomes even though it was we have to sort everything out. When their own relatives, they will be we throw all the food away, we need delighted they can set foot in their time to cook the lamb and chicken own door, now. And they will be and everything. A lot of work ahead relieved knowing that this stage is of you, but it seems like a lot of staff as well you can count on. Good over, but what has still got to luck with everything and thank you happen to that dam . Weve had a for chatting to us in Whaley Bridge this afternoon. You get a real sense statement from the police. They said the hard work and dedication to achieve this has been quite of people flooding. Coming back something. They said over the coming into the town to roll up their days and weeks, further work will be sleeves and get back to work so completed to ascertain the damage normal life in the town centre can caused to the dam and what actions resume. Thank you, fiona trott in are required for the future. The Environment Agency has confirmed derbyshire. That the measures remaining in place europes largest pork producer, danish crown, has told the bbc that britain at the dam will be able to manage could suffer shortages of bacon in the event of a no deal brexit. The levels of rain forecasted, the threat of tariffs, modelling against a number of potential disruption at ports and the low value of the pound could all affect exports. Scenarios. Because what they had our correspondentjenny hill earlier today at this emergency has been to southwest denmark to find out. Meeting, they took the information from the engineers who are assessing that damage at the dam wall and decided if we get more rain in the good afternoon from the west coast coming days, it has started to rain of denmark. Every day from this port now, a yellow weather warning in place for later this week, is that 1. 6 Million Tonnes of goods are dam robust enough . Can it withstand the rainfall expected . Traded between the port here in dam robust enough . Can it withstand the rainfall expected . This dam robust enough . Can it withstand the rainfall expected . This is why people have made that decision. Denmark and the uk, with one ship people can still go back, but of going to the uk and returning every day. Britain does not supply itself course they are constantly monitoring the situation. What they enough bacon to meet demand so it didnt want to do was say to people, go back to your homes, it seems fine imports from the netherlands, germany and denmark, the largest now, then have to evacuate them all supplier of pork products for the over again. So they have been uk. Industry insiders say that here monitoring it closely. And they want to ta ke monitoring it closely. And they want to take their time over it, they ifa uk. Industry insiders say that here have done that now, a decision has if a no deal brexit occurs, its possible bacon prices will rise in been made and the people here in britain and britain could also short Whaley Bridge you will be very happy about that. Thank you, good to have altogether. Danish born and bred some positive news to report, fiona for the british breakfast table. Trott in derbyshire. For denmarks pig farmers, the uk market has been solid, dependable. They are unsure now, time now for bbc ask this, seeking out other customers. Where well be answering in case a no deal brexit pulls all your questions on a no deal their pork from british shelves. Brexit this time, were focusing on what it could mean i am a little worried, for your healthcare. But we have had three years im joined by hugh pym, to prepare for this. So i think we are well prepared. Our health editor. We have made a very special will the ehic card health cover product for the uk market. I think it would be very sad if we cannot sell it arrangements still apply for the englishman any more. To after a no deal danish. Situation if it arises . It is an interesting question that people will be asking about if they have holidays planned after october tempting british tastebuds 31. The latest from the government for generations. Denmark is the biggest supplier as they have made a request to the of pork products to the uk. Authorities around the European Union, but even if there is no deal, satisfying a demand that british farmers cant meet alone. Bacon is big business in denmark. The ehic card will continue to be recognised and the same will be for this processing plant, eu citizens coming to the uk, the request has been made but nothing purpose built for the uk market. Has been finalised. And in the that was before the prospect of no guidelines that im just checking there is advice to assume that the deal and import tariffs. Ehic card might no longer be valid now sterling is low in the event of no deal after and uncertainty high. October the 31st and to make already they are exporting less arrangements for private travel insurance to cover themselves. Of and looking for other customers. Course, if there is a deal and a of course we need to look transition period which was what was at the alternatives intended first time round up until because if you look at the rhetoric coming out of the british march 29, then the ehic card government, then its do or die. Continues to apply during that what does that mean transition. For the british consumer . I think it will mean neil in swansea says more expensive products. Im a lifelong asthmatic could it mean empty shelves . And my young daughter quite possibly. Is type 1 diabetic. Can the brexiteers guarantee no time to lose for the bacon there will be no shortages of these and other lifesaving medicines due to a no deal brexit . Bound for britain. People in the pharmaceutical industry and government are refusing goods roll in and out with no customs checks. For now. You really get the sense of how or acknowledging that you cant give every second counts. Cast iron guarantees, but the no wonder they want to know industry and the department of here whether Britain Health have made it clear, and is bluffing about a no deal, authorities around the uk, that actually there have been pretty firm and no wonder they say such arrangements made for stockpiles of vital drugs and medicines and a scenario could have far reaching consequences right down to devices, a six week stockpile for what we eat and where it comes from. This eventuality. So if there is no denmark is preparing deal and there are problems at the channel ports with lorries getting for a change of season. Stuck bringing supplies into the uk, the country which values its relationship with there will be a six week buffer to britain, sad to see it go. Ensure that patients still get conscious too of what both partners medicines including inhalers for could stand to lose. Asthmatics, and insulin for diabetics. With insulin, almost all of the insulin used in the uk comes from outside the uk, so it is very were britain to run short of bacon important that those supplies are in ina were britain to run short of bacon in a no deal brexit scenario, industry insiders tell us most place but people are saying, what if likely it will start importing cheap bacon from places like brazil or the it goes beyond six weeks . Sonn us. For the danish market, they are medicines, i dont know which, it could be these just in time looking to asia, china in particular medicines, i dont know which, it could be thesejust in time items that have a short shelf life that need to be delivered as you need because swine fever there is them. To that end, ministers have decimating herds and it means there isa decimating herds and it means there is a rising demand for pork been chartering ferries, a plain, products. But this is a scenario that certainly here in denmark refrigerated warehouses, to store nobody wants to see and they are things which do not last six weeks, really sad to see britain leave the and they will do their best to eu in the first place. What they tell us they really need right now, ensure supply of those just in time not just tell us they really need right now, notjust danish tell us they really need right now, products, but no guarantees have not just danish pork tell us they really need right now, notjust danish pork producers but been given. People running the port here and people running the port here and people in industry across the country, what they really need and wa nt country, what they really need and want is certainty. Studio jenny hill in denmark. Louise in the event of a no deal, there are hundreds of thousands weve already heard that the Food Industry here in the uk has asked of pensioners who may be forced out of europe the government to waive aspects she is one of these. Of competition law to allow firms i am assuming that the nhs to co ordinate and direct supplies. And social services are not prepared for this. How will this affect the fishing industry . Lets go live to peterhead am i right . If there is a big influx back to the in north east scotland now and speak to our correspondent james shaw. Uk. They have certainly been whats the view there . Let me first thinking about it and it is part of the no deal planning going on in whitehall, with all sorts of of all say that fishing is hugely eventualities, and one of those is important in this part of the that people in spain or portugal or north east of scotland. The fish forever who have retired there, if they come back to the uk, if there landed here at peterhead was worth is no deal, it is certainly part of around £202 million last year, 2018. I will step out of shot so you can the planning for the nhs and social see whats going on. This boat has care, it is under pressure around just come alongside the harbour from the uk, there is pressure on ar app the north sea. You can probably see the north sea. You can probably see e commerce and social care, the fishing crates about to be particularly in england, so coming loaded by this forklift truck, back to the uk they will experience dropping into the hold. They are that, but it is certainly something being considered at the very high dropping into the hold. They are dropping into the hold. They are dropping ina dropping into the hold. They are dropping in a dozen, may be more of level. They just dont these forklift truck loads in there, being considered at the very high level. Theyjust dont know how many people might come back. One of the meaning they might have had a pretty problems with this is that it would good catch. I think they will bring be hard to predict. And there could ashore a great deal of fish. Thats what its all about for this be hard to predict. And there could be reciprocal arrangements with some countries if not all . The question industry, the fact they want to go out there and catch fish and make earlier, we touched on this, the money. They believe in the long British Government is hoping that term, brexit, even a no deal brexit, evenif would give them an advantage in that British Government is hoping that even if there is no deal, reciprocal arrangements can be maintained but respect, and it would no longer be there has been no firm arrangement the case britain couldnt control on that yet. And it works both ways. Foreign boats coming into uk waters. There is also the question of the short term damage that might be done, the question of what tariffs exactly. Will borisjohnson set up the nhs there might be on fish products that as a gift to an american privatisation takeover, are being imported. Exported into post no deal brexit . The European Union. These are just unpick that a bit because this serious questions at the moment. To has been talked about quite a lot, be frank, nobody really knows at the that the nhs could be at risk of moment what the answers to those questions are. Are their differing views, is every one of the same privatisation. How so . It has been opinion . Its interesting, here in talked about a lot because president the north east, the fishing fleets trump raised the idea that in a and fish are men here all believe trade deal between the us and the that in the long term brexit will be uk, purse brexit, the nhs might open a benefit. But there are other fishing sectors on the west coast of itself up to more american scotla nd fishing sectors on the west coast of scotland where they are largely contractors coming in and doing work catching langoustine and lobster and for it, and that led to a suspicion exporting to European Countries like that there was some underlying motive, that if there is a trade france, they worry very much about deal, that it would bring in more the disruption that could be caused American Companies which would take at borders, the delays and customs on some nhs activities. That was checks there might be, meaning the firmly denied by Health Secretary matt hancock. It has been denied fresh live products they export to since the administration changed and those countries would no longer be viable and they believe there would liz truss became trade secretary, be an extremely serious threat to she said the nhs is not for sale, the future of that industry on the west coast of scotland. James short this is very clear, because they know the political dangers here, in peterhead, thank you. Suspicion was that if there was lets ta ke anything up for sale, that would lets take a look at the weather cause a lot of political flak, so forecast with helen. We have been they have denied it, but they dont reporting about one event for sure, the boardmasters know what this picture trade deal reporting about one event for sure, the boa rdmasters festival reporting about one event for sure, the boardmasters festival in cornwall being called off because of might look like after brexit. So the bad weather. No doubt you think this government will deny there is any isa bad weather. No doubt you think this is a sensible idea because we are seeing some pretty difficult agenda about privatisation and about conditions for august. Opening the nhs up, but there will be many who feel that they cannot be totally certain about what might we are, and i think it is a sensible happen. There are a small number of decision. It is a time when lots of private providers already in the nhs families are taking children on holidays in the uk and unfortunately in england, about 7 doing contract work for the nhs, and one or two of the weather will get in the way because we have a developing area of these are controlled by american low pressure which you would companies, but those contracts are normally see in autumn and winter when we wouldnt be worried. But the firmly under the control of nhs trees are still in leaf, people are commissioners. Thank you, hugh pym, camping, they want to go to the our health editor. Coast, surfing etc, but those things and later in the day, are concerning because we expect well be asking what leaving the eu exceptional conditions. This area of without a deal could mean for security, low pressure, just a puff of cloud and Citizens Rights. At the moment, but taking the pressure chart forward, you can see so please do get in touch it developing into a nasty area of with whatever questions low pressure with tightly packed isobars are suggesting strong to you might have. Gale force winds and as a result we the Contact Details have a platter of gale force weather warnings already. We have some today are on your screen now. For thunder storms hitting on friday 15 million gas and electricity customers will see their bills for thunder storms hitting on friday for many areas, thats the start of reduced as a result of a change the Severe Weather tied in with the in the energy price cap. The typical annual charge area of low pressure. Foremost we from october will go down by £75, have the rain. Thats a concern because of lower prices because we have had so much wet in the wholesale market. Our personal finance correspondent weather and flooding particularly in Simon Gompertz explains. The north but everywhere will see 1015 the north but everywhere will see 10 15 millimetres over thursday night and into friday and it could the cap on gas and electricity be double in some areas, and then prices was brought in to protect people who stay on high, standard charges. Heavy showers and thunderstorms it was actually put up in april following. And in themselves they to help suppliers cope with rising world prices. Can give 20 millimetres of rain in a short space of time. The impact of now those companies will face the rain, we will keep an eye on a bit more of a squeeze. That because the thunderstorms then 11 Million People are on standard become slow moving across the north variable tariffs and they will into saturday. This is quite a long see the £75 reduction. Event, happening over two or three about 4 Million People are on what we call prepayment metre caps, they will see a slightly days. This is how storms are smaller reduction ofjust over £25. But again there will be some reductions to help them normally classified historically, it ta kes normally classified historically, it takes into normally classified historically, it through the winter months. Ta kes into accou nt normally classified historically, it takes into account rain and snowfall potentially, but this is based on the likelihood of the event taking place, the deep area of low pressure british gas complains that the cap will cost it £300 million this year. In this case, and the impact it will but the regulator says it is forcing have. The concern with this is that companies to be more efficient. It is hitting across populated parts the cap applies per unit that of the country not used to getting you use and what that means this sort of weather in the south. In the autumn it probably wouldnt at the moment is that a typical family pays cause concern but because so many no more than £1254 people are enjoying outdoor a year for gas and electricity. Activities, the impact might change. But it is going to come down the forecast wind strength has gone from october to £1179 as a maximum, up the forecast wind strength has gone hence the drop of £75. Up since this time yesterday so we are monitoring it might yet be a but it will still be the case named storm and become an amber warning. But at the moment it isnt that the more energy expected to, but there are expected you use, the more you pay. To be quite significant impacts. The it makes me wonder what they have wind warning for england and wales, been doing up to this point in time gusts up to 50 60 mph. 40 50 inland. That ofgem can make this change. That can bring down small trees, £75 doesnt really do much. It doesnt really save like £1000 that you can use to go that are in full leaf, and the on holiday or something. Ground is already saturated after so the cap does not apply to the much much rain. The potential is there to cheaper deals available if you look cause some problems and the overtopping of the waves around the for a fixed rate contract, usually coasts, some of the forecast for available for one or two years. And some worry that people will not surf, although it is messy, it can bother to shop around like this if they know be large at around 10 12 feet. Lots there is a maximum anyway. I think people should not be distracted by that and not believe of little elements to it. That this is great and they can just do nothing about it. This is a saving of £75 but switching in the market can save £250, £300 below that price, so that is what the consumer should be doing. The cut will not make much nevertheless there will be some large waves with messy conditions, difference before christmas. So if you were heading down to the it is worth less than £1. 50 per week promenade, you could get those huge on average, it will be well into waves over topping sea walls. It is the autumn when it kicks in. But any help with energy bills will be welcome. Simon gompertz, bbc news. Quite incredible. It would appeal to some people. But not unless you are well versed in that part of surfing the british Food Industry calls for Competition Laws to be relaxed to prevent Food Shortages and you know about rip currents and in the event of a no deal brexit. All that. So we have a beginner Derbyshire Police say its now safe for residents to return story here and now with a cloud to their homes in Whaley Bridge, across the uk. Some storms around after the town was evacuated due to flooding fears last week. The edinburgh region and off the east anglian coast. Still some hundreds of British Airways flights are cancelled and delayed, as the airline suffers technical sparky showers around even though todayis sparky showers around even though today is the quieter weather day. Problems with check in. Lovely and warm with the sunshine and the winds are lighter. There is heres your business ease away as we go through this headlines on afternoon live. Evening and overnight so it is an improving picture for today and British Airwayss double it failure means its reverting overnight, and it will not be to manual procedures for check in at airports. Particularly chilly, either. It will the airline is advising passengers to allow extra time at airports be cooler and more comfortable because of longer queues and delays. Ba is also telling people to check sleeping. But the humidity will rise again as we head into friday with if their flight is affected before going to the airport. That low pressure system, that stormy weather, stormy conditions the price of energy is due to fall for millions of british heading our way. So 11 13, the low households this october after the regulator, ofgem, lowered price caps. Ofgem sets maximum prices that can temperatures tonight. Tomorrow looks decent for getting out and about. Be charged for gas and electricity all of the time that circle be to those who have not switched suppliers and are on default building with some approaching tariffs. Showers in the south west, still the risk of showers to the far north. The new cap could see these these could be a little bit households typically pay £75 less a year. Thundery, but fairly warm with my twins elsewhere, and as we go the bidding process to operate rail through tomorrow evening and services between london, kent and parts of east sussex overnight, that low pressure starts has been cancelled. To ta ke the government says the current operator, southeastern, overnight, that low pressure starts to take hold. Several hours of wet has been given a five month weather sweeping northwards with extension to run the route strengthening wind behind. Waking up until april 2020. On friday morning it isjust it says continuing the bidding clearing the south, but there will be some heavy showers and process would have incurred thunderstorms, and it looks quite extra costs for taxpayers. 599y thunderstorms, and it looks quite soggy for northern england, Northern Ireland and scotland. All close to we have been looking at the impact that centre of low pressure which will see those winds are of no deal brexit on various strengthening to gale force by the sectors. Lets look at end of friday. So windy on friday, gusty winds inland, up to 30,40 manufacturing. We are talking about any company that makes something, miles an hour, getting stronger as usually in a factory so cars, parts we going to saturday. Temperatures doing well, tempered by the fact for planes, food and drink makers, that it Electronics Companies and so on. For doing well, tempered by the fact thatitis doing well, tempered by the fact that it is wet and windy, just very humid air. Some tropical air mixed them they want to be able to sell what they make abroad and if there isa in. That develops further across what they make abroad and if there is a no deal brexit, that could mean a sudden introduction of import england and wales on saturday with gusts of up to 60 mph on the coast, taxes for goods that they want to get into europe. That makes the possibly in excess of 60, and with goods more expensive to customers on the trees and to leave, not great the continent, therefore potentially news. You still have those slow less attractive. What impact might moving heavy showers further north. It have on investment and jobs . On sunday, that low pressure is slow manufacturers, if sales were to fall to clear. Looks like it is going to asa manufacturers, if sales were to fall as a result of no deal brexit, they be an issue for three days, this are then bringing in less money at best, that mean a freeze on new deep area of low pressure, and usually windy for this time of year. As ever, all of the details are on hiring, new recruitment, at worst it the website. We will keep you could meanjob hiring, new recruitment, at worst it could mean job cuts. Updated. Hiring, new recruitment, at worst it could meanjob cuts. So the hiring, new recruitment, at worst it could mean job cuts. So the only kind of real indicator we have got is the trade body did a survey in june of this year of about 350 companies and found that, of those, the ones im planning to increase hiring of the summer stood at 6 , down from 16 in the previous three month period. So, a sign that some companies are holding off in the Manufacturing Sector on investing, until they know what the picture is going to look like around brexit. And that is the uncertainty that businesses complain about. Wasnt there a manufacturing spike recently . That was at the start of the year. That was considered to be this is bbc news a temporary boost as can our latest headlines. Supermarkets call on the government to relax companies were stockpiling goods and strict Competition Laws, parts to prepare for a potential to prevent Food Shortages if the uk leaves the eu without a deal. It is Manchester United have tried to find important not to get into too much out whether or not that challenge speculation. What we can do is pay could involve him coming to old some of this on some facts. In the trafford. Hard to say, but it is hard will ensure the scottish champions to imagine that if that situation where we left without a deal and reach the knockout stage. There wasnt a replacement deal soon after, it is hard to imagine that the status quo as it exists today could last for very long. Thank you this is a totally different animal. Very much indeed, ben fletcher, from this is a totally different animal. This is a totally different animal. This is away from home against the the manufacturing trade body make romanian champions. The northern irihsman says was lucky time for the Weather Forecast now, not be more seriously injured with helen. Good afternoon. Some after a Free Standing pillar in his Philadelphia Hotel rather inclement weather is heading fell on him. To the British Isles as we approach the end of the week, in the form of to be honest, right now, im angry, more heavy rain. That is not good why it has happened. Obviously news for the area is recently flooded, but this time we have a double whammy of the gale force someone has just why it has happened. Obviously someone hasjust nudged into it, but, you know, why is things of that winds forecast for england and wales. Unusual to see at this time size in Hotel Lobbies not screwed of year. Could well have significant into the floor . I have lost impact. Some cloud out in the atla ntic impact. Some cloud out in the atlantic backpack developing area of potentially a shot at a world title, low pressure will be quite fast for i have lost 12 weeks away from my wife and kids. I am angry now, more this time of year. We still have low than anything. Pressure but still slightly less thats all the sport for now. Strong winds and showers. We also ill have more for you in the next hour. Have a good deal of sunshine out there, and it will feel pleasant in that sunshine, but bear in mind there are some heavy, slow moving, southerly showers across the northern half of the uk. Some sharp time now for bbc ask this, showers to the south. But there is where well be answering more clear, and away from the north all your questions on a no deal of scotla nd brexit this time, were focusing more clear, and away from the north of scotland in particular, it looks on what it could mean for both security and Citizens Rights. Drier, it will feel fairly pleasant, im joined by security expert dr Alison Wakefield not particularly warm and muggy, and Hedwig Hegtermans, a member which we have still to come with of the 3 million, which is a group that low pressure approaching and pulling in some tropical air. Of eu citizens in the uk. Thursday, a pleasant day for the welcome to view birth, alison, if we majority. Lots of strong, august may start with you, quite a few sunshine, fewer showers than today, across the north of scotland people asking about Law Enforcement and how cooperation will work between security agencies in the uk primarily, then that low pressure sta rts primarily, then that low pressure starts to show its hand in the south west. It will bring with it a and eu 27 in the event of no deal speu south west. It will bring with it a spell of wet weather for all parts brexit. An important question. We moving into friday. That band of rain moving north pushed in by have heard Law Enforcement on the strengthening winds. 10 15 news talking about it. They have had millimetres of rain for many parts but as much as 34 some parts, a major hand in creating the systems that exist in europe, the european further north, and behind it as the winds are strengthening, they push in heavy showers, with some arrest warrant and europol and other slow moving thunderstorms around that centre of low pressure which will anchor itself off the aspects of the architecture. To lose south west, with strengthening that we would lose a considerable resource and we would have to look to other means of sharing data, so southerly or south easterly winds. Behind that, the wind really start to escalate with gas up in excess of we would need to refer to interpol databases, we would need to revert 50 mph, possibly 60, by the time we to partner countries gathering get to saturday. That will temper information bilaterally unless the feel of things but because it is something can be worked out. A point such warm aircoming the feel of things but because it is such warm air coming with this weather system, temperatures in the in ourfavour is high teens and the low 20s. Gusts of something can be worked out. A point in our favour is perhaps the fact that its not a relationship that wind around 60 miles an hour in the either party wants to see lost. And south, enough to cause damage to we would hope that both parties in trees, in full leaf at this time of year, so there is some concern for the agreement would work hard to those as well, if you are out and make sure that there isnt about camping, not a day for taking disruption, but there is the possibility that some of those to the hills, orfor heading out on resources would be lost in the short a small vessel, because there will term, if a solution cannot be found. Be some large waves and messy conditions. By sunday, things start to calm down. But between now and feel asks, how does the uk stop illegal entry into the uk in the then, some unseasonal, rather 00 42 18,422 4294966103 13 29,430 autumnal weather on its way. Event of no deal, through Northern Ireland, through the Irish Republic . That is a good question. It is already a soft border. So there are cases of people coming into ireland by sea or by air, then they can cross the border already, so i think in that respect, we wont see such a change. And the governments of the uk and ireland have said that they are committed to close cooperation, but certainly, that is resource intensive and the costs of all of these contingency plans will be significant. The other question from joe in the netherlands asks how the government will cope with heightened tensions that could happen in Northern Ireland and on the uk mainland if the uk leaves without a deal . Thats an important question and one of the most politically sensitive elements of brexit. Something again that all parties are trying their best to avoid, the eu, the Irish Government and the uk government. But the threat level in Northern Ireland, for Northern Ireland terrorism is already at severe, the terrorists are highly active. We dont hear as much about what is going on in the mainland, as really reflects the current situation. And as i said before, it isa situation. And as i said before, it is a matter of resources as well, and the police and other agencies having to put resources into possible areas of challenge, and there are contingencies in place, so people might have heard of operation yellowhammer. That is the programme, the initiative, headed up by the civil contingencies secretariat of the cabinet, with respect to short term no deal planning, so the department for exiting the European Union, is thinking towards the medium and long term, but there are already contingency arrangements being worked through. Lead departments identified four different areas of policy, so the home office on Law Enforcement, the Cabinet Office on national security. So, all of those bodies are working on the road contingency plans. So, all of those bodies are working on the road contingency plansm so, all of those bodies are working on the road contingency plans. It is a complex piece of work. Lets talk about Citizens Rights. John says my girlfriend is from, and lives in, germany, we visit each other often and plan to settle either in the uk or germany. What change and additional barriers are going to exist in the event of a no deal brexit . This is an issue, isnt it, if you like to live on each others countries. Before brexit, no problem. He could go to germany and his girlfriend could come to the uk. However, if we leave without a deal, his girlfriend will be senior as an outside the eu immigrant, and will be subject to quite strict immigration rules from the uk. The uk is at the bottom league of family reunification law, so it is going to be quite difficult. And with the same apply to him going to germany . If there is a no deal after brexit then he will be subject to german immigration laws, which, whatever they are. Matt king says im planning to move to spain in the next few months, but if i move to spain after october to 31st, when the default is that britain leaves with a deal, or without, if there is a deal, will i be treated as a citizen from outside the eu . A deal, will i be treated as a citizen from outside the 5mm a deal, will i be treated as a citizen from outside the eu . It is similar with joe, citizen from outside the eu . It is similar withjoe, if you wanted to move to germany with his girlfriend, and yes, that is correct. If matt was to move to spain after 31st of october and there is no deal in place, then he will be subject to the spanish immigration rules like any other citizen outside of the eu. Stephen lee says why cant nothing be agreed until everything is agreed . Why be agreed until everything is agreed . Why cant be agreed until everything is agreed . Why cant we have various deals covering different aspects of britains deal with europe, for example in Citizens Rights when i get some aspects of it sorted out rather than waiting for everything to fall into place at the one time. That is an excellent question, a very good question, and the 3 million, and the british in your organisation, we have been pleading to take Citizens Rights out of the negotiation table. We understand the political reasons why this is, it is to prevent the uk from cherry picking any deals, but, because this brexit will affect the citizens of both sides of the channel, so both eu citizens here in the uk as well as british citizens living the eu, we dont think it should have been pa rt of we dont think it should have been part of the deal, and theyre still an opportunity for both the uk and the eu to agree to take this out of the eu to agree to take this out of the negotiations. A few more weeks left. They might get round to doing that, thank you, doctor Alison Wakefield and hedwig hectormann, thank you both. And at 4 30pm, well be asking what leaving the eu without a deal could mean for travel. That will be with victoria bacon from abta. So please do get in touch with whatever questions 15 million gas and electricity customers will see their bills reduced as a result of a change in the energy price cap. The typical annual charge from october will go down by £75, because of lower prices in the wholesale market. Our personal finance correspondent Simon Gompertz explains. The cap on gas and electricity prices was brought in to protect people who stay on high, standard charges. It was actually put up in april to help suppliers cope with rising world prices. Now those companies will face a bit more of a squeeze. 11 Million People are on standard variable tariffs and they will see the £75 reduction. About 4 Million People are on what we call prepayment metre caps, they will see a slightly smaller reduction ofjust over £25. But again there will be some reductions to help them through the winter months. British gas complains that the cap will cost it £300 million this year. But the regulator says it is forcing companies to be more efficient. The cap applies per unit that you use and what that means at the moment is that a typical family pays no more than £1254 a year for gas and electricity. But it is going to come down from october to £1179 as a maximum, hence the drop of £75. But it will still be the case that the more energy you use, the more you pay. It makes me wonder what they have been doing up to this point in time that ofgem can make this change. £75 doesnt really do much. It doesnt really save like £1000 that you can use to go on holiday or something. The cap does not apply to the much cheaper deals available if you look for a fixed rate contract, usually available for one or two years. And some worry that people will not bother to shop around like this if they know there is a maximum anyway. I think people should not be distracted by that and not believe that this is great and they can just do nothing about it. This is a saving of £75 but switching in the market can save £250, £300 below that price, so that is what the consumer should be doing. The cut will not make much difference before christmas. It is worth less than £1. 50 per week on average, and it will be well into the autumn when it kicks in. But any help with energy bills will be welcome. Simon gompertz, bbc news. An update from British Airways, who say that they have resolved the technical issue with their check in system and flights are returning to normal. The british Food Industry calls for Competition Laws to be relaxed to prevent Food Shortages in the event of a no deal brexit. Derbyshire police say its now safe for residents to return to their homes in Whaley Bridge, after the town was evacuated due to flooding fears last week. British airways say they have resolved the checking issue and flights will be returning to normal after technical problems caused those severe delays. Heres your business headlines on afternoon live. The price of energy is due to fall for millions of british households this october after the regulator, ofgem, lowered price caps. Ofgem sets maximum prices that can be charged for gas and electricity to those who have not switched suppliers and are on default tariffs. The new cap could see these households typically pay £75 less a year. People visiting the uk will no longer be able to travel around on a single interrail or eurail pass afterjanuary when the uks membership of the scheme is going to end. The Rail Delivery Group which represents uk train operators blamed a dispute with eurail group which manages the scheme. British people can still buy interrail tickets and the move is said to have no relation to brexit. Can you tell us a bit more about this inter rail situation . Can you tell us a bit more about this interrail situation . The difference is that say people start their journey from edinburgh, previously, the eurail ticket were taken from edinburgh to london where they then get the eurostar, now they will have to pay separately for that edinburgh to london then from eu rostar edinburgh to london then from eurostar onwards, that is when the pass kicks in and they can travel on that single ticket. So it is for mainland europe travel butjust not in the uk . With people coming from europe to inter rail around the uk, the inter rail pass from january, it looks as though it is not going to be able to be used in the way that they have done. You think it would be connected to brexit, but not on this occasion. Lets talk about the effect of a potential no deal brexit on services and specifically services, hospitality. This is a particularly vulnerable sector. Hospitality is a multi billion pound industry. It relies heavily on eu workers for the thousands of hotels and restaurants across the uk who welcome eu tourists every year. Many brexit supporters have said that the weaker pound is a boost for tourism as thousands of holiday makers take advantage of cheaper prices. That spring in our guest who is well placed to talk about this, kate nichols, the chief executive of uk hospitality. Some people have said this could result in morejobs hospitality. Some people have said this could result in more jobs for locals and higher wages to attract them. That doesnt sound too gloomy, does it . It is not, as you say, large numbers of the industry rely upon foreign tourists. It is a £31 billion export industry, the National Tourist industry, we rely on visitors coming from overseas as well as domestically, and at the moment where we have low levels of unemployment and a falling number of young people entering the jobs market, we have a real Labour Shortage at present. So we have to make sure that we have got the job is anti labour available to deliver that service that domestic customers and International Customers need. What with the Immediate Impact on your hospitality, if there was to be a no deal brexit at the end of october . In keeping with other sectors of the economy we need a planned and timely exit then we can manage the down side effect, but we cannot cope with too much disruption. Three main areas will affect us, the first is tourists, we need to make sure that people still feel that they can come over here, and that they have a warm welcome and that they have a warm welcome and they have certainty to book. Secondly around staff, one in eight of those are eu workers. We need to make sure that unilaterally we offered him a warm welcome and confirm the right to remain here, that they have a right to come here going forward, and third and most importantly, the food supply. At that time of year, about 70 of our food, hospitality, particularly fresh food, comes from the eu. We will have some disruption to that whatever happens in terms of brexit. Largely based on what happens for goods going out of the ee from the uk, and the queues that might result. We have to make sure that we have got security offered supply and stability in the pound, so that food costs not rocketing. That is quite a shopping list. Just briefly, do you feel that the Prime Minister as a former mayor of london, gets the importance of hospitality as a sector . He was aware of the significant social capital from hospitality business, how vital we are to attracting inward investment and making london and the uk an important headquarter city for large numbers of international visitors. We need to make sure that that is not overlooked in the no deal brexit planning that is going on. Kate nicholls from uk hospitality, thank you very much indeed. That is the Business News for now. The uk Food Industry has asked the government to waive Competition Laws to help cope with possible shortages if britain leaves the European Union without a deal in october. Existing rules prohibit suppliers and retailers discussing supply or pricing but industry bosses say they will need to Work Together to prevent shortages and other problems. Today bbc news is taking a close look at the implications of a no deal brexit. The phrase refers to the uk leaving the European Union with no formal agreement in place about the future relationship between the uk and the eu in other words, cutting ties immediately and leaving the Single Market and customs union. It means there would be no transition period where rules and regulations would remain largely the same while talks are held about a trade deal. If a deal is not agreed, leaving without one is the legal default unless parliament prevents it. Our correspondent victoria fritz is ata birmingham marketand has been talking to suppliers about why the Food Industry wants a change to the regulations. The unlikely front line in the latest battle over brexit. Half of the food we consume, we buy in from abroad, mostly from the eu. The industry is calling on the government to relax competition rules so companies can better coordinate britains food supply. As we understand it, this is a power that the secretary of state for business has. It was used last, i think, during the financial crisis when there were talks between the banks. So i dont think its a very difficult thing for government to do, though obviously it is a big signal of no deal preparedness. We have mushrooms here which have come from poland. Marks business is the oldest fruit and veg wholesaler in europe. He has been planning for brexit for months, assurances from the government or not. We spoke to logistical companies over in france, in spain. We made all the necessary attachments here. We spoke to suppliers, weve done all the paperwork. And we are ready to roll with it now. Whether it is deal or no deal, we are ready, and i dont think, with the supply chain as it is, i dont think well have a problem at all. For some here its notjust about managing risk its about seizing opportunity. No deal brexit, come the 31st of october good or bad for your business . Necessary, i do believe. Unless a deal can be struck on favourable terms for britain, it looks like it will be, regretfully, necessary. I dont think it will make a lot of difference to us in the fish industry. Our british water areas are going to be expanded again so we have more control over british seas and also a lot of the stuff that we buy is from outside the eu, india and asia and that. So it shouldnt make that much difference. The consensus here is that there could be longer term benefits to being out of the eu. But todays warning is about how to keep shelves stocked in the meantime for the busiest time of year for the industry, the run up to christmas. I dont want no deal. I want a deal with a big trading partner. But, believe me, brussels have got to understand they have a responsibility here and theyve got to stop being in their bunker, blaming britain. And once we know in business where we are, you leave it to us. The government says it is working closely with the Food Industry. But, for businesses here and across the country, the detail of that support will be crucial. Victoria fritz, bbc news, birmingham. John campbell is spending the day at a food business at banbridge in Northern Ireland, which trades across the border with the Irish Republic. Hes been finding out about the impact a no deal scenario could have on cross border trade. Remember, the Irish Government policy has always been that whatever happens there will be no hardening of the border. Thats actually going to be quite difficult to achieve in the context of a no deal brexit because we know the eu rules on Food Products in particular are very strict. They say they must be checked at the immediate point of entry into the eu. That would be Food Products, animals coming from the north into the south, and technically in a no deal they should be checked at that border. The Irish Government says it doesnt want to have checks at the border, so what will it do . Leo varadkar, the taoiseach, the irish Prime Minister, has talked about various things where you could have, for example, customs procedures taking place away from the border but that doesnt deal with the very specific issue of food that the Irish Governments most recent contingency plan says there will be checks and controls but does not say where they will be. The eu have also said that yes, in a no deal there would have to be checks and controls but again doesnt elaborate on where those would be. What the Irish Government have really been saying up until now is they would want the uk government to check Food Products coming from Great Britain into Northern Ireland at irish sea ports meaning they wouldnt have to be checked as they crossed the irish border. But in the context of no deal, i think that would be a huge step for the uk government to take because in effect they would be saying, we didnt get a deal because we couldnt agree to implement the backstop but now we are voluntarily implementing part of that backstop by checking products as they come from Great Britain into Northern Ireland. So really the Irish Government are saying their preferred option relies on the cooperation of the uk and that cooperation would be required just at the point where relations between the uk and ireland would be at their most tense. John campbell in banbridge in Northern Ireland. Our correspondent andy moore is in dover, looking at the issues for transport and freight. The port of dover is vitally important for uk trade, around 17 of all uk imports and exports come into the sport. Around 10,500 lorries per day into dover and another 4500 through the channel tunnel at folkestone just a few miles down the road. Today we have had three ministers in town visiting the port and looking at those preparations for no deal brexit. Michael gove, the chancellor of the duchy of lancaster, who is in charge of the no deal brexit preparations. Priti patel, the home secretary. And grant shapps, the transport secretary. They have been talking to people in the industry and listening to their concerns. A little while ago i spoke to somebody from the Road Haulage Association, duncan buchanan, andi Road Haulage Association, duncan buchanan, and i asked him if the port here was ready for a no deal brexit. The paperwork requirements is an order of magnitude different from what is required at the moment. What is effectively a seamless border becomes a very hard Customs Border in the event of a 31st october exit. The scale of the paperwork is enormous, and its often misunderstood and not appreciated. Each one of the lorries, you mentioned 15,000 lorries there adding up between dover and the tunnel. Each one of those lorries could have one shipment in or 10,000 shipments. Every one of those has to have customs processes around it. And unfortunately at the moment the traders, the importers and exporters, do not know what they need to do to make that work. What we are calling on the government to do is provide clear, concise, simple guidance so that paperwork process can begin and be handled effectively, because if we fail to do that, the queues are going to be 24,48, 72 hours long, all the way up the m20, maidstone, and throughout kent. One study has shown if there is a two minute delay at customs here, that will mean a 17 mile tailback on the motorways. If there is another minute of delay its another ten miles. Those are the worst case projections. Of course others say the road haulage industry is part of project fear and something will be sorted out, there might be a waiver at the last minute, even if there is at the last minute, even if there is a short term pain, there will be long term gain. Andy moore in dover, thank you. Europes largest pork producer, danish crown, has told the bbc that britain could suffer shortages of bacon in the event of a no deal brexit. The threat of tariffs, potential disruption at ports and the low value of the pound could all affect exports. Jennny hill is in esbjerg in denmark. Good afternoon from the blustery west coast of denmark. From this port, every year, 1. 6 Million Tonnes of goods move between this very port and the uk. A large part of that cargo is bacon. The uk cant produce anywhere near enough bacon that British Consumers demand so britain imports plenty more from places like the netherlands, germany and denmark, and denmark is actually the largest supplier of pork products to the uk. But producers here tell us that a no deal brexit could put that supply at risk. Danish born and bred for the british breakfast table. For denmarks pig farmers, the uk market has been solid, dependable. They are unsure now, seeking out other customers. In case a no deal brexit pulls their pork from british shelves. I am a little worried, but we have had three years to prepare for this. So i think we are well prepared. We have made a very special product for the uk market. I think it would be very sad if we cannot sell it for the englishman any more. Danish. Ah, danish. Ah, danish. Tempting british tastebuds for generations. Denmark is the biggest supplier of pork products to the uk. Satisfying a demand that british farmers cant meet alone. Danish bacon is big business in denmark. This processing plant, purpose built for the uk market. That was before the prospect of no deal and import tariffs. Now sterling is low and uncertainty high. Already they are exporting less and looking for other customers. Of course we need to look at the alternatives because if you look at the rhetoric coming out of the British Government, then its do or die. What does that mean for the british consumer . I think it will mean more expensive products. Could it mean empty shelves . Quite possibly. No time to lose for the bacon bound for britain. Goods roll in and out with no customs checks. For now. You really get the sense of how every second counts. No wonder they want to know here whether britain is bluffing about a no deal, and no wonder they say such a scenario could have far reaching consequences right down to what we eat and where it comes from. Denmark is preparing for a change of season. The country which values its relationship with britain, sad to see it go. Conscious too of what both partners could stand to lose. Ina in a no deal brexit scenario, industry insiders say if suppliers ran short in britain than the uk could import cheap bacon perhaps from america, from brazil, somewhere like that. At the same time here in denmark they are saying swine fever is affecting herds badly in asia and there is massive demand for their pork there and they will try to sell more to places like china. Its a scenario nobody here wants to see, i think, and you get the sense from talking to people here that denmark is one of the countries that has taken britains decision to leave the eu rather personally. They are very sad about it. But at the same time they are now very conscious of the damage a hard brexit or no deal brexit could do to their economy and what they are calling for now above everything else, i think, what they are calling for now above everything else, ithink, is what they are calling for now above everything else, i think, is some certainty. Jenny hill in denmark, thank you. We will have more on the potential impact of a no deal brexit on travel a little later in the programme. On travel a little later in the ro ramme. Youre on travel a little later in the programme. Youre watching afternoon live, the headlines. The british Food Industry calls for Competition Laws to be relaxed to prevent Food Shortages in the event of a no deal brexit. Derbyshire police say its now safe for residents to return to their homes in Whaley Bridge, after the town was evacuated last week, overfears of a damaged dam. British airways say they have resolved the issue and flights are returning back to normal. After techincal problems caused severe delays. In sport, tottenham end their interest in signing Philippe Coutinho from barcelona. The club had looked at a season long loan deal with the players surplus to requirements at the spanish champions. Celtic play romanian side cluj in the Champions League qualifying stages tonight. They need two more wins from two more ties to reach the group stage. Pakistan have parted coach with have parted company with coach Mickey Arthur after failing to reach the knockout stage of the world cup. He could step into the same role with england when Trevor Bayliss departs. More to come at half past. In the last half hour British Airways says it has resolved the it problems which earlier forced the arline to cancel almost a hundred short haul flights. Ba says flights are returning to normal, but knock on disruption is likely to continue. Thousands of travellers have been facing delays and long queues. Leigh milner reports from heathrow. This was the scene at 8 30am this morning in terminal 5 at heathrow airport. Hundreds of passengers queueing at check in to find out whats happening to their flights. Then, at 9 00am, this happened. Unfortunately, i apologise, but weve had an it system failure this morning. We are currently unable to do a number of activities through our it systems. That does mean that any short haul flights this morning are currently cancelled. We are being told our flight has been cancelled. Its not going to be rebooked today. And we basically were told we either have to book a hotel for the night or go home. Our next flight, weve been told, is friday at 5pm. And we are probably going to go home and rebook. We have been at the airport going up and down for about three hours. And we have concluded the best thing to do is to leave because were not going to be rebooked on anything and we will need to book a whole new flight. And our bag has gone, so its a complete nightmare. The problem is a system failure. Two, to be exact. One with the booking system, another with flight departures. Passengers want to be able to use mobile apps and Internet Services to book flights and check in. But in order to deliver those, a lot of the underlying it systems that they are running on are quite old, legacy, and they probably have not been upgraded for quite a few years. And one of the reasons for that is airlines are under huge pressure to cut costs. For anyone who has a cancelled short haul flight with British Airways today, you are being told to either go home or check into a hotel. You will be reimbursed but you will have to re book your flights online. British airways say the problem has affected heathrow, gatwick, London City Airport and will have a knock on effect across the country. Leigh milner, bbc news. A future Labour Government would not block a second Scottish Independence referendum, according to the shadow chancellorJohn Mcdonnell. In an interview in edinburgh which appeared to contradict the view of the scottish labour leader he said any decision about holding a vote would be up to the Scottish Parliament. Our Political Correspondent pete saull is in westminster. Rather contradictory between the two of them. Yes, although jeremy corbyn, labour leader, has hinted in the past labour wouldnt block the idea of another independence referendum, John Mcdonnell has gone one step further today, really opening the door to the possibility of it actually happening should labour get into power. The partys official position is to oppose another Scottish Independence referendum, butJohn Mcdonnell said at this event at the Edinburgh Festival that, who are we really to stand in the way of what elected representatives in edinburgh would like to see happen. The problem for him is that a labours most senior representative in edinburgh, the scottish labour leader Richard Leonard says they should be strongly opposed to holding another referendum and the scottish people would not like to see another repeat of the device of poll that happened in 2014. Others have been very critical ofJohn Mcdonnell. For example, former scotland secretary of state under tony blair, Douglas Alexander, who said John Mcdonnells comments were incredibly dumb. A potential mighty ruckus in labour ranks. Other parties are saying, the party now supports holding a second brexit referendum, so it might be churlish to stand in the way potentially of scottish people having another say in independence from the rest of the uk. Police in derbyshire have said residents in Whaley Bridge can return home nearly a week after they were evacuated over fears of a damaged dam. People were removed from their homes last thursday after the structure at toddbrook reservoir was affected by heavy rain. Our correspondent fiona trott is there. The one thing we have learnt about people here in Whaley Bridge this afternoon is they dont mess about. Within half an hour of the cordon being lifted they were flooding into the village, rolling up their sleeves and getting back to work. I want to introduce you to camilla, who owns this bakery on the high street. You are looking busy, what are you doing at the moment . We have just got down to the shop literally ten minutes ago. Its all very exciting. We havent seen sophie and louise for a week. It feels like its been ages and we are just getting back on track for opening tomorrow now. Whats happening with all the food now . We are throwing it all the way. Youre throwing it all away . all the meat, everything, all the bread, everything. Its all got to go, the lot. We got evacuated on thursday. We literally got the call and it was like, leave the shop. All of this has to be thrown away and i guess new orders, you will have to start getting those back in again . Yeah, its a bit of a nightmare but we are just glad to be back in the village, and glad for all the residents to be back. Its been emotional because weve seen people we havent seen in a week. Everyone is crying outside and it feels really bizarre, but its village life, really, so its lovely. You literally were here within minutes. Were you just waiting for that text . Yeah, i was sat at my sisters house this morning, just looking up on facebook, on the local pages to see if we were allowed to come back in. I was like, woohoo, were back in now. We just raced down. Its amazing. Do you think you can really be open in time for tomorrow, with everything you need . Yes, we might be short of a few bits, but the girls are ready and raring to go. Weve got a bakery at the other end of the village and that was reopened last night thankfully, so the bakers have been baking all night. Wendy has been in after hours. Everyone is so amazing. I have to ask this lady here a quick question. Your daughter came to live with you because she was evacuated from her home. What was that like . Honestly, it was nice to get her back. Ijust forgot how many clothes shes actually got laughter. Good luck with everything and good luck for tomorrow and reopening. There you go, people starting to get back to normal and back to work. I dont think theyve ever been so pleased to be getting back to work here at Whaley Bridge. Time now for bbc ask this, where well be answering your questions on a no deal brexit this time, were focusing on what it could mean for travel. Im joined by victoria bacon from abta an association of travel agents and tour operators. Welcome and thank you for being with us today. John in france asks, will there be, in the event of a no deal brexit, long queues and delays at eu schengen passport control . Obviously we are some way out from a potential no deal brexit. I think we will have to wait until closer to the time to see what specific advice might come in in terms of border controls. What we know is that visas will not be required, so there will be no additional checks in that sense. Some countries such as portugal have put in additional capacity, they have said they were put in additional capacity in the event of no deal. We dont know yet if france will do that. There might be additional security checks, so the advice at the moment is to think ahead, leave plenty of time and i would expect the government to announce nearer the time whether or not additional time might need to be built into your travel plans. Dennis asks, what documents will i need when i travel to the eu with my dog after the 31st october with regard to driving, insurance and the pet passport we have all got used to . And specifically, what new regulations for pet injections will be imposed . Regulations for pet injections will be imposed . At the moment you can travel to europe freely with your pet. In the event of no deal you will require extra documentation and potentially extra Health Checks as well. The government advice is to go to your vet and get extra checks put in place well ahead of when you are due to travel. If you are driving, its very important depending on the country you are driving in, you may need an International Driving permit as well. You will if you are travelling to france. If you are travelling to france. If you are travelling to france. If you are travelling to spain, you wont. So information is on the government website which countries you may need an International Driving permit for. Henry in croydon asks, is there any way the British Aviation industry can survive a no deal exit from the eu . We are an island nation. People wa nt to eu . We are an island nation. People want to travel and i think people will continue to want to travel whether for business or leisure purposes. Whether or not we are all within the eu. So, yes, if there is additional red tape it will have an impact on airlines and they will have to deal with that. And potentially cost for businesses, and i think thats definitely something businesses will have to take a look at. But whilst there is demand to travel, people are always going to wa nt to travel, people are always going to want to travel. So that market will a lwa ys want to travel. So that market will always exist. Sandra says, what will the status of the uk, eu passport be . There has been a lot of discussions around the colour of the passport. Doesnt matter on the colour, it will still work, as long as it has the correct amount of validity on it. The thing that will change, you will need six months validity from when you are due to travel to, and the situation today as you can go with less than six months. The government has a passport check on its website so you can see how much validity you have left. The first thing to do is check your expiry date, check when you are due to travel and your expiry. If you have less than six months you will probably need to renew it. We need possibly to renew their more often and sooner than we have got used to . The standard passport is ten yea rs used to . The standard passport is ten years so if you only have six months ten years so if you only have six m o nths left ten years so if you only have six months left and you have only had nine and a half years used, you will need to get it checked and renewed. Another viewer says they usually go to portugalforfour or another viewer says they usually go to portugal for four or five another viewer says they usually go to portugalforfour orfive months every winter. If we leave the eu without a deal, will this affect us . I dont know if they are talking about going before the no deal are coming back afterwards. The government and eu have said you will not need a visa to travel for short trips. Trips of 90 days or less within a 180 day period. Trips that are longer than that, again, i think we will need to wait to see as we approach that date, whether there is any wriggle room with that. The portuguese authorities have already put up quite extensive information about what they would do in the event of no deal and some additional things they would put in place for british tourists. I would check with the foreign office, their advice on any particular country as we get closer to that leave date, if indeed we do leave then. We have possibly a nswered we do leave then. We have possibly answered this, but its worth reiterating, will we need visas every time we want to travel to spain and does it depend on the length of your stay . It will depend, yes. The standard advice is no. For the overwhelming majority of people the overwhelming majority of people the situation will stay the same as it is today, and thats reciprocal, for eu visitors coming to the uk as well, they will not need a visa. But if it is for a very long time you are visiting for, you might get caught and you should check government advice. But keep an eye on that government advice because it made change closer to the time. Victoria baker from abta, made change closer to the time. Victoria bakerfrom abta, thank you. Time for the weather now with helen. Hello. There are some heavy showers out and about for the remainder of the afternoon. That said, there is equally some strong sunshine, but if you havent heard already, trouble is brewing for the end of the week. This mass of cloud will develop into quite a nasty area of low pressure bringing us wet and windy weather. Quite warm out there and pleasant as we go into this evening, in between the showers, but there will still be showers rumbling particularly across scotland, central and northern parts of scotland, with a real risk of some thunder and slow moving showers here. But through the night hopefully they will become fewer and further between. For most of us, not an uncomfortable night with temperatures dipping to single figures in some rural areas, but thereafter humidity will start to increase. Thursday itself, looking for the most part fine and dry. Still the risk of a few sharp showers in the far north and later on the approach of our troublemaker, which is set to bring more wet weather to all parts. Wet and blustery weather through friday and strengthening wind being quite unusually strong particularly across england and wales as we go into saturday. This is bbc news our latest headlines. Supermarkets call on the government to relax strict Competition Laws, to prevent Food Shortages if the uk leaves the eu without a deal. As things stand he will be staying at barcelona for the time being. Tottenhams Christian Eriksen will not be moving to man united. The dane has expressed a desire to leave spurs but united have halted transfer talks with the player. Hes believed to favour a move to spain. And a lot could hinge on his future with tottenham interested in several players. They include paolo dybala. Theyve reportedly had a bid accepted for the juventus forward but his wage demands and complications over image rights may scupper any deal. And not long left to get that deal done. You can follow all the transfer news on the bbc sport website and app. Theres a live text service running. You can follow alll the comings and goings over the next day or so. Did you say image rights . Their way that it works, lots of big players have their commercial interests managed by separate parties. So as well as negotiating players wages and salaries, they have to also negotiate a deal with regard to a separate party that looks after their other commercial interests, so to speak. It gets a bit complicated. It is another world. I dont have to worry about that sort of thing the premier League Starts on saturday and we have been hearing from the new ceo for the first time. Yes richard masters has been in charge of the premier league since the start of the year when Richard Scudamore left. He was the third candidate after two others turned down the job. He spoke on a number of issues including what football can do to tackle racism inside premier League Grounds including meseasures to improve stewarding. He says football authorities can do better. We are determined to tackle discrimination. And one incident at premier League Grounds is one too many. We have to step back and ask whether we are doing it right and doing enough, and we will work out some measures where we could do better in this area. Celtic face romanian side cluj in the first leg of their champions legaue qualifying tie tonight. Neil lennon dismissed the suggestion from opposing manager dan petrescu who said his side will need a miracle to progress. Two wins in their next two ties will ensure the scottish champions reach the group stage. This is a totally different animal. This is away from home against the romanian champions. We are very motivated, and wary and respectful of the opposition. We are as prepared as we can be, since saturday we have studied a lot of footage and watched both games against maccabi. So we will have to be mentally strong to approach the game to start with. We will need to have good concentration. Mickey arthur has left his role as head coach of pakistan. Now on afternoon live lets go nationwide and see whats happening around the country in our daily visit to the bbc newsrooms around the uk. Look norths peter levy is in hull and hell be sharing the story of ricardo, a spanish nurse, with his concerns about a no deal brexit. And in norwich, Stewart White from look east talking about the potential impact of a no deal brexit on businesses on the east coast. Lets go over to hull and peter levy with the story of a nurse whos had a successful career in the nhs but is concerned that other people might not get the same opportunity after a no deal brexit. Are we likely to see an impact on nhs staffing levels, peter . The nhs has many skilled doctors and nurses from europe as we know. On monday when the Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited the Pilgrim Hospital in boston, the area of the country that voted most highly for brexit, but there is a great staff shortage in the nhs with 100,000 vacancies. Just in boston where the Prime Minister was on monday there are 11 vacancies for doctors and co nsulta nts, vacancies for doctors and consultants, and 29 nurse vacancies, and that is just in boston alone. So you can imagine the picture across the country. Last year more than 3300 nurses from across the uk return home to europe, over 3000. With just 12 weeks to possibly leaving the eu, in lincoln, they have staff from romania, spain, cyprus, poland and romania. And how about those from europe who are working in the nhs what do they think about no deal . It isa it is a good question. We spoke to ricardo. He is spanish. He works in lincoln. He was able to get a job in the nhs fairly easily. And while hes been in the nhs he is has been promoted a couple of times. He says it may not be so easy for others to come and work here if there is a no deal brexit. Come and work here if there is a Nodeal Brexit. I have always felt welcome, always felt supported, and my experience in the industry has been positive, my career has lifted toa been positive, my career has lifted to a new level, so very thankful. No one really knows what is going to happen. So we dont want to do all this and know what i am going to stay or not, yes. That was ricardo. And we spoke about the trust in linkage with his spending £4 million a month on agency staff, for three hospitals. We mentioned the Prime Minister coming to boston, john as hworth of minister coming to boston, John Ashworth of labour has said that the no deal brexit would be a cast catastrophe for the nhs. Thanks, peter. Now lets head to norwich where Stewart White is waiting for us. You and the team at look east have been speaking to the people on the east coast. What have they been saying . This is an interesting one. At felixstowe, there is evidence people are bringing their trade to felixstowe because of the fear of no deal brexit. It Means Companies are very concerned about, having to queue if they are getting through dover, they are coming to other ports and spreading the risk. Trade at felixstowe is increasing. And the interesting thing is that the ferry company, dfds, has spent the winter knocking down some Old Buildings which will increase capacity by 40 , and that extra space could come in handy after brexit. With a Nodeal Brexit there are threats and opportunities. One of those could be if we get a promised delays at dover then that model of transport might switch and some people might need to switch and some people might need to switch to the east coast ports. We are already at capacity so the additional capacity will allow us to facilitate that for our customers. Well, he seems happy but not everyone is, are they . There is a company in northamptonshire called blue skies who import and export fruit and they employ around 400 people in the area around corby and i are very worried about the prospect of no deal. Around corby and i are very worried about the prospect of no deallj would bring the parliamentarians parliamentarians back from their beaches or wherever and have them backin beaches or wherever and have them back in westminster and i would make them send their envoys to brussels and geta them send their envoys to brussels and get a deal. It would be crazy not to have a deal. I have been a negotiator myself. I have survived 17 different retailers and i cant imagine how you cant have a deal. We only have a few weeks to sort it out. Yes indeed. Time is pressing, for sure. Stewart, thank you very much. More on look east tonight at 6 30pm and peter, thank you more on look north 6 30pm tonight. Thank you both for taking us nationwide. Theres more on the stories on the bbc iplayer. And we go nationwide every weekday afternoon at 4 30pm here on afternoon live. Before he arrived President Trump dismissed calls to ban assault rifles, saying there was no political appetite for it but did say he wanted stronger background checks on people buying guns. His visit which will be followed immediately by a trip to el paso in texas comes in the middle of a row over whether mr trumps choice of words in his tweets and speeches has contributed to white supremacist violence which the president denies. You have two sides that are very different on this issue. Lets say that we are all good people but two sides that are very different. Pakistan says it will downgrade diplomatic relations and suspend trade with india, after Narendra Modis government stripped indian administered kashmir of its semi automonous status. Foreign secretary dominic raab says he had expressed concern to his Indian Counterpart about the situation. Sporadic protests have broken out in the disputed territory despite a security lockdown and communications blackout. Our correspondent Yogita Limaye is in the city of srinagar in indian kashmir, and sent us this update. It is the third day that kashmir remains a lockdown that sporadic protests have broken out, in particular the rest of part of srinagar, protesters chanting anti india slogans and Security Forces have used pellet guns to restrain the virus. Some of his protest remained quite small and sporadic at the moment. And theres a number of reasons for that. One of them is what you can see behind me. At every street corner, literally, there are armed soldiers, barbed wire and checkpoints, you have to show your identity, where you are going and why you are going there. Hundreds of thousands of extra troops have been deployed in what is already one of the most militarised regions in the world. On monday indias government revoked the special status for the state. It gives the local government the right to make laws about everything other than defence, communication and external affairs. It allowed local government to to find permanent residents of this region and allowed only those people to buy land here. All of this is now gone. Anger is growing in pakistan. Its Prime Minister imran khan has condemned the move, said it was illegal, and that his country is willing to take it up in all international forums. We arejust it up in all international forums. We are just hearing that pakistan has said that, as a consequence of what is happening in indian administered kashmir, and the action india has taken, it will expel the indian ambassador. Not as bad as when they open, but us of it. Not as bad as when they open, but us shares of it. Not as bad as when they open, but us shares falling of it. Not as bad as when they open, but us shares falling sharply of it. Not as bad as when they open, but us shares falling sharply once again. Investors seem to be spooked by the latest signal pointing to a heightened risk of global recession. There are a couple of factors. One of them is they rush into Us Government bonds. This is Us Government bonds. This is Us Government debt. It is seen as an indicator that traders dont feel confident enough to put their money into riskier stocks and shares on the stock market and want to put their money into the unexciting but safer investment. Gold is another safer investment. Gold is another safe haven and as you can see the price of gold is going up along with government bonds. Fairly dull investments but save investments, you dont get much of a return but they are a safe place to put money when there is economic turbulence. The price of gold at a six year high. On the other hand, oil, down incredibly sharply. That is the price of light crude, brent crude, another oil benchmark, also down 4 when i last looked. The reason that tends to fall as if there is an anticipated drop in world trade people assume there will be less demand for oil because you need less of it to move goods around, hence the price. And it can be quite infectious, this, sometimes, cant it . There can be something of a herd effect with this, but it is notjust traders and investors who are worried. They are looking at these concerns about the escalating us china trade war, and the way Central Banks have responded. Central banks in india, thailand and new zealand overnight cut interest rates. They tend to do that when the central bankers think there is a concern that the Global Economy could be about to slow down, and adding to that, the european powerhouse germany put out some frighteningly wea k germany put out some frighteningly weak Industrial Production data, as well, so that has added to the general sentiment of nervousness. Lets bring in kathleen brooks, a director at minerva analysis. This is another anxious day on wall street, it seems. Iwould is another anxious day on wall street, it seems. I would agree with your sentiments are echoed before then, largely driven by these shock moves by central bankers. They usually like a nice, steady ship but when you see the reserve bank of new zealand cutting rates by 50 basis points, double what was expected, that will get the markets nervous. There can be no surprises here. The escalation of us china trade war is triggering these big moves that you see on the market. Weve seen the of that having an impact on glencore, the big commodities and Mining Company in uk, posting results that have turned things a little sour with investors and with the share price. They were down about 3096 compared to this time last year. Interestingly enough, they didnt mention much about the Global Economy. It isnt helping but they have individual concerns around their cobalt mines. It is a big ingredient for batteries and electric cars. They are closing one of their cobalt minds because the price of it is so low so make up that what you will about demand for that what you will about demand for that for use in electric cars. It is not there, yet. There are individual issues with some of the other mines linked to glencore. The mining business is complex. So a global slowdown would be one of the reasons why glencore would seen profits fall but they were optimistic with profits in the region of 3 billion, still, for the rest of this year. We had been talking about the potential impact of no deal brexit. In terms of finance and the city, what do you see as the likely impact . This week thatis see as the likely impact . This week that is not the main theme in the markets. It has been the us and china. We still have absolutely no idea. Until they get the focus on finance for this issue which the government has not done it is difficult to know. This week for instance the pound hasnt done as badly as last week. However, we know that the pound is dictated by sentiment linked to brexit, particularly to no deal brexit, so this escalation of rhetoric with michael gove blaming the eu, and the eu blaming the uk for not being able to negotiate a trade deal which seems to be hurtling us towards a no deal brexit, we dont think that is good news for the pound and we would look for a further decline in sterling and the further weeks and months and it is a shame the economy cannot benefit from it, because you cannot benefit from it, because you can only benefit from a weak currency when you have clear signs about what a trade is going to be after brexit, and that is a bit that is missing, here. Thank you. A few more markets. European markets holding up slightly better. The ftse 100 is up but that follows six sessions of losses. Nothing to be jumping up and down and shouting about. That is the picture for most of the european benchmarks, ending in positive territory at the end of todays session.
