A courts told the six year old allegedly pushed from the tenth floor of the tate modern broke his back and suffered a bleed on the brain. Some people evacuated from properties below a damaged dam in derbyshire are being allowed back to their homes. The first black woman to win the nobel prize for literature the american novelist Toni Morrison has died at the age of 88. Good evening and welcome to bbc news. The government has denied it wants talks with the European Union to fail so that it can end up with a no deal brexit. Officials in brussels have claimed that borisjohnson has no intention of entering new negotiations and that the governments central scenario is a no deal break at the end of october. Mrjohnson has insisted he does want to reach a new deal with the eu, but says hes not prepared to open talks unless brussels drops the irish backstop. Thats the mechanism designed to avoid a return to a hard border dividing the island of ireland. Our Political Correspondent ben wright reports. Almost two weeks after becoming Prime Minister, Boris Johnson met his first eu leader today his counterpart from estonia. Reporter why arent you negotiating in brussels, Prime Minister . Have you given up on trying to get a deal . Brexit talks are deadlocked. The eu insists the Withdrawal Agreement is closed. Ministers here say it has to be changed. One thing is clear the old deal that was negotiated has failed to pass the house of commons three times now, so we do need a new approach. And whatever happens, while we remain ready and willing to negotiate, the eu must appreciate that were leaving october 31st, deal or no deal. The huge disagreement is ireland, and the backstop intended to prevent a hard border after brexit. Borisjohnson says it must be scrapped from the withdrawal deal completely, but speaking in belfast, the irish Prime Minister said a no deal brexit on october 31st would solve nothing. There are people who perhaps have become frustrated with the brexit process, and they are almost saying to themselves, at least if weve no deal on the slst october, its all over, its all done. What im saying is that it doesnt end on the slst october. If we have no deal, were going to have to talk, and the first things on the agenda are going to be citizens rights, the financial settlement, and the solution to the irish border. By ramping up plans for a no deal brexit, Boris Johnson hopes to convince brussels he is serious about walking away. He wants that threat to persuade the eu to negotiate a new deal. If there isnt one, then number ten is emphatic the uk will be leaving anyway on october 31st, and with an early election possible, borisjohnson believes pro brexit voters are behind him. But its a strategy fraught with risk, and if the eu doesnt budge and a no deal brexit becomes government policy, a showdown with parliament is certain when mps return. We are now in a position where it seems that boris is hurtling towards a no deal brexit, and we have to do everything now within our power, working cross party, to stop the prospect of a no deal brexit. Mps are taking a break from westminster at the moment, but there are tories, too, preparing for a fight after the summer. I think its increasingly clear that parliament will have to act because the reckless behaviour of the Prime Minister, in terms of a no deal brexit, is something parliament will have to take seriously. As it stands, both borisjohnson and the eu say the other side is the problem. Three years after the brexit referendum, compromise has rarely looked more distant. Joining us via webcam is Neale Richmond whos chairman of the Brexit Select Committee in the irish senate. Hes a member of the Leo Varadkars governing fine gael party. Two sides are not talking it looks like there are not going to be any talks to provide any new deal and we are hurtling towards a no deal brexit. Every day, the past is closer to halloween, we can still absolutely change the situation. I know a no deal is ones interest. It does not provide any clarity no deal at this stretch provides more confusion and more renegotiation on the key issues that have already been agreed upon. We agree solely that there is an agreement to be had in terms of the future political declaration and does next round of negotiations on a trade customs and regulatory deal, we can only do that with the insurance policies provided in the Withdrawal Agreement with the rights of british citizens in the eu and vice versa, and a financial settle m e nt and vice versa, and a financial settlement that does not threaten the fragile peace on this island. For borisjohnson the fragile peace on this island. For Boris Johnson has the fragile peace on this island. For borisjohnson has made it very plain that he is not interested in talking unless they dropped the backstop. Youre not going to do that, so there cannot be talks. Is not the irish backstop, the backstop is the creation of the uk government guidelines. It meets the demands of the British Government. It is not an irish backstop, just provides that insurance policy and it definitely not an end destination that we want to see things go to. It and all the language being brought about by people who voted for this agreement previously, it is very unwelcome. We are willing to discuss every issue with the uk, but ultimately, the Withdrawal Agreement as the project of 18 months of negotiation involving a great deal of compromise on the european side not forgetting that ultimately, it is a british decision that has many responsibilities. And how damaging do you think that is going to be for the republic of ireland and the Irish Economy . A nodeal brexit, we have been preparing for brexit since december 14, we have been preparing for a no deal eventuality since january and when it happens, it will be bleak, but we have to maintain that we are leaving economics aside and we have to maintain our key responsibility, just like the British Government as a co guarantor of the agreement. That is what the focus should be on, not the impact of ireland, the impact on the eve. The uk responsibility is here and we should expect them to be the responsibilities. One other result ofa responsibilities. One other result of a no deal brexit will be that without a backstop, we will end up without a backstop, we will end up with a hard border surely if there is no deal brexit. With a hard border surely if there is nodeal brexit. What happens in a no deal brexit is the irish and British Governments lose control of the border and we have responsibilities to the european Single Market but equally, the British Government will have responsibilities to the wto in all future partners. We want to avoid all of that it is a very simple agreement that allows for negotiations deep and meaningful, the so called alternatives arrangements, the backstop probably no doubt will probably never going to power, it is merely an insurance policy. Ultimately, we want the bridge party in the British Government to meet their responsibilities and everything at this stage, the Withdrawal Agreement makes moment to make no sense. Boris johnson he wants a no deal brexit because that would be simpler, it would be cleaner and it would not be as messy perhaps as a deal, which might involve a lot of politically damaging compromises. So he does what a no deal and that is what we are going to end up with. The no deal is much messier. At the moment, the uk is negotiating under article 50 in the uk is negotiating under article 50ina the uk is negotiating under article 50 in a crash out scenario, negotiations revert to article 218 which is third party status, no other country around the world. The eu has been consistently clear that evenif eu has been consistently clear that even if a crash out where to happen, even if a crash out where to happen, evenif even if a crash out where to happen, even if people would like to move on to try to negotiate, first things first, mostly sorted the key issues of the Withdrawal Agreement. Citizens rights, financial settle m e nt citizens rights, financial settlement and the guarantee of peace on this island. Thank you for your time. The chairman of the Brexit Select Committee and the irish senate, many thanks. Meanwhile, foreign secretary dominic raab has been in canada today trying to boost ties with countries outside europe ahead of brexit. He plans to meet with representatives of the Us Administration later in the week. He told our correspondent Aleem Maqbool that he was hopeful President Trump would cut a good trade deal with the uk after it leaves the European Union. Well, look. But we know is that we have a president and the Us Administration that is talked incredibly warmly about the uk and is very keen to do a free trade deal with the uk. Obviously we need to hash out the details but that is a positive thing. An opportunity as well as deal with our european friends and our canadian friends and are have you been less looking at the past couple of years, the donald trump of various friends, he plays golf with the japanese Prime Minister in and says even then, he slapped tariffs onjapanese car makers. Is it naive to think that just because hes car makers. Is it naive to think thatjust because hes talking about these warm terms that youre going to get favourable deals out of the us right now . Doesnt donald trump hold all the cards right now . |j us right now . Doesnt donald trump hold all the cards right now . I do not agree that analysis but what i do know is that what he said and obviously, we have a very close friendship with the Us Administration. A lot of positive noises from congress, as well as the secretary of state in the us trade representative. Youre quite right that we of the hashed of the details of the trade negotiations never simple or straightforward, also its of interest that play, but im delighted that we have an american president talking so enthusiastically about the uk. But we have heard in dc that the nhs that they want the uk to change food standards to take food that is currently banned in the uk, like beef that is infused with growth hormone. What kind of leverage does britain have over this when it has all of this uncertainty economically to push back . There is some uncertainty, but that is why we want the finality to brexit which the Prime Minister and the cabinet is absolutely agreed on at the end of october and that is important for the free trade deal that we do around the world. Were not going to engage in a race to the bottom are regulatory standards and there is a lwa ys regulatory standards and there is always a debate these things. But the reality is that we have a massive Consumer Market in the uk, which is a great export market already for the us and obviously the us isa already for the us and obviously the us is a big market as well. Relatively low down the pecking order when it comes to us in terms of trading partners. The fifth largest economy in the world, there is huge opportunity for a win win trade deal on both sides and out withstanding your pessimistic questions which are entitled to ask. We do have leadership at the highest level. The american president saying that there is something that he really wa nts that there is something that he really wants to do that must be an upside, so want to grasp that opportunity. Eddie heath was the chief scout at Chelsea Football Club four children and young people were subjected to sexual and racial abuse. One review found that the chief scout was a prolific paedophile in the 1970s and another found overwhelming evidence of racial abuse in the 1980s and 90s. Our Sports Editor reports now from sta nford. He was tasked with finding the top stars. In the 1970s, he was tasked with finding chelseas top stars, but former chief scout eddie heath was also a prolific, manipulative and sophisticated sexual abuser, according to todays damning report. Garyjohnson was one of 23 former youth players who told an enquiry they were abused by heath, who died in 1983. Going public about his ordeal three years ago triggered the scandal, and today he told us of the impact its had. Everyone at a young age wanted to be a professional footballer, as they do now. No one asked for this to happen. Our dreams, our livelihoods, our life has been just basically ruined. But could the club have done more . The enquiry found that former assistant manager dario gradi failed to report a complaint of Sexual Assault against heath and a chance to prevent him abusing others was lost. Gradi, who has previously denied any knowledge of the crimes of another paedophile barry bennell, at his current club crewe in the 1980s claimed he did refer the case up and denied trying to smooth over the matter. The review added that some adults at chelsea must have been aware of heaths lewd behaviour but turned a blind eye to what they saw. You just feel horrified, horrified, that he had access to everywhere, that people at the club knew of him, knew about him, and just shrugged their shoulders. The review heard that boys aged between ten and 17 were abused by heath with 15 reporting serious Sexual Assault, including rape. One victim said the scout was known as nightmare eddie, with boys fearful because of the influence he wielded over their careers. Today chelsea issued a statement saying the club apologises unreservedly for the terrible past experiences of some of ourformer players. Heaths conduct, they said, was beyond reprehensible. The report details how abuse was able to occur unchallenged and the life changing impact it had on those affected. Meanwhile, a second report published today heard evidence from 22 people and found that former Academy Director Gwyn Williams subjected young black players to racist remarks on a routine basis in the 80s and 90s. He denies any wrongdoing. Today, one former victim of racial abuse told us of his time as a youth player at the club. He was terrible. There wasnt any support, there was no one to go to, especially in my time there, my first year and a half. I would go into the showers and be ridiculed. So there was expectations of. I put expectations on myself because of the ridicule i got. Chelsea said the review has concluded that numerous accounts given of severe racially abusive behaviour towards Young Players historically were credible. Chelsea have now set up a compensation and support scheme, and safeguarding has been overhauled since the days of eddie heath, but years on, the abuse that some of the most vulnerable here suffered continues to cast a shadow over one of the countrys biggest clubs. It is important to note that the scale of the scandal emerged two and a half yea rs scale of the scandal emerged two and a half years ago when it was revealed that chelsea had insisted ona revealed that chelsea had insisted on a gagging clause and compensation settle m e nt on a gagging clause and compensation settlement that they reached and heaths victims, but they now hope by shining a bright light into the dark corner of the club history as they put it today, it would demonstrate they are finally willing to tackle this head on. Nonetheless, it isa to tackle this head on. Nonetheless, it is a dark day for the club, for whose long career in the game is now in jeopardy, whose long career in the game is now injeopardy, he has been suspended by the faa for the past two years andindeed by the faa for the past two years and indeed for the game as a whole. Because this extends well beyond sta mford because this extends well beyond stamford bridge, since the allegations of child sex abuse in 2006 hundreds of clubs have been targeted and just the latest reminder of the fa describes it as the greatest crisis and the games history. The six year old boy who was allegedly thrown from the tenth floor viewing platform at londons tate modern suffered a fractured spine and a deep bleed in his brain. He also broke his legs and arms. The details of his injuries emerged in court today as a teenager who cannot be named because of his age appeared charged with attempted murder. He appeared at Bromley Youth court from where our correspondent danjohnson gave us this update. This is a short initial hearing in the 17 year old really didnt say anything beyond confirming his name, his address and date of birth and the fact that his nationality is british. They artie said they do not believe there was any prior connection between the teenager and the six year old french boy who he is accused of throwing over the railings at the viewing platform of the modern. That is where he was arrested on sunday afternoon after the gallery was evacuated and although she has yet had the chance to enter a plea, we did learn a bit more in court today about the injuries the boy suffered when he landed on a lower roof of the gallery, we know that he has broken arms and legs and he had a fractured spine and a bleed on his brain. I think that explains what we saw such a big response of the gallery on sunday afternoon after being flown to hospital by an endless. His condition is described as critical but stable. The american author Toni Morrison has died at the age of 88. She was the first black woman to win the nobel prize for literature one of many awards for her writing. She also won the Pulitzer Prize for her novel beloved which told the story of a female African American slave. Our correspondent david silito looks back at her life. I dont mean that there were no narratives that slave women told and there was no information about it. I mean, it wasnt the narrative in literature. My effort in beloved to do that, to talk about a woman who had to make some choices. Toni morrison and beloved, a story of slavery and grief. The sort of book that Toni Morrison wanted to read, but had to write herself. 30 years on, its success is more about than just sales or being part of the school syllabus, it is what it has done to tell the untold. She had the ability and the genius to create a world that had not existed before. Not only that, a quintessentially american world. She is an american writer, shes an African American writer. There is my house. Toni morrison had grown up in lorain, ohio and she made it to cornell university. Her grandparents had been sharecroppers in the deep south. You could go to jail or be fined if you were white and taught a black person. That says it all about reading. So my family took the whole thing very seriously, it was like a revolutionary act. She began writing in the 60s. Her first novel, the bluest eye, was a story of childhood, black childhood in a white world. Each night without fail, she prayed for blue eyes. Fervently, for a year, she had prayed. 23 years later, Toni Morrison was awarded the nobel prize for literature. Just one of a mantelpiece full of awards. There was, she said, a vacuum in literature. Summed up by that little girl in the bluest eye. It took five years for me to write that very small book. To Pay Attention, Pay Attention to this child. Maybe she is in difficulty. Shes obviously hurt. Shes abused and misused, but take her seriously. Please. A look back at it with the british author who has worked includes my best friends girl in the ice cream girl. Shejoins us from her brighton studio. Thank you so much for being with us. What made her such a great novelist . She was so her such a great novelist . She was so uncompromising and who she was and what she wrote. She had something to say to the world she was not afraid to say it in very bold terms. She had a wonderful way with words and create a story that would draw you in and make you feel like you were there and expressing what her characters were. Her novels, or what her characters were. Her novels, oi essays what her characters were. Her novels, or essays and writings. She a lwa ys novels, or essays and writings. She always had a way of being who she was in telling you something about the world and not being afraid to say it in very bold terms. Do you think she is a pioneer in some ways, because she said there was nobody writing for her really, for a young black female in the United States. So she had to write it herself. Absolutely and she absolutely was a pioneer. And i think also give to the world, showing people, black readers that they were just as important as the stories they were surrounded by and grew up reading and were taught in school and she never stopped doing that. She never stopped giving to the world in teaching us that there was so much to learn and that you could be, your voice isjust as important to learn and that you could be, your voice is just as important as everybody elses and that made her real pioneer and so people like me seeing people out there that looked like me are, authors like there that look like me, and had a wonderful way with communicating. It was very important and that is what is really important. Not just for children to see themselves reflected in books which obviously at the moment, even 110w which obviously at the moment, even now 2019, it is very hard to find books for children who look like them and who are just the main character. But also people writing them and in the world that she did. Her life, was it an inspiration . Absolutely. And there are so many other writers who did what she did but in the way that, one of the things that i admired most about her was the fact that she did not pander to anybody. She didnt write down her temper her writing. She was, there were so many different black stories out there for stopped she was a black writer and she never shied away from that and never shied away from talking about that and telling the stories that other people arent telling and i could think that i could write anything i wa nted think that i could write anything i wanted to. There is not one black story out there, there are so many different ones and so many different ways of telling the story and being a writer and being in the world. When i was trying to get published, i was constantly told that my books, the story that i was writing were about black people, but they were not about the black experience. Whatever that was. And people like Toni Morrison have been doing that for yea rs Toni Morrison have been doing that for years and showing that there is no one black experience. The world needs and needs to hear lots of different stories by black people. Black women and she was great at that and that is what is inspirational about her. And one of the black stories she told was the story of slavery, which he wrote about and really heartbreaking, harrowing detail. Yes and she made you feel that you couldntjust move on from it, you actually experience what people are going through that isa what people are going through that is a for what people are going through that isaforany what people are going through that is a for any writer to have people read your work and feel like they we re read your work and feel like they were there and they understand something about the world in a different way. Like i say, it was a real gift and real talent and she was so giving and generous with that. Not in just a sycophantic way, she was very clear about who she was and uncompromising and she told her stories in bold terms. She did not shy away from the hard stuff and showing the really gritty and heartbreaking harrowing parts of it. Some of the things that she wrote are, they could have turned you inside out with how awful they are. But i think people needed to know that. They cant sacrifice and sugar coat, they had to see what is really like. That is dorothy, author of my best friends girl. Thank you very much indeed. Now its time for a look at the weather. Hello. Another day where we have seen hello. Another day where we have seen frequent showers heavy thunder emerging to get some torrential spells of rain in place. To keep the show was going overnight, particularly across scotland with intensity, scattering of showers in Northern England further down in parts of wells and admittance, across southern england in many places and 1a celsius. Sunshine and showers, not so many showers across england and wales, boyd do find and stay sharp side, get scattering across Northern Ireland and across scotla nd across Northern Ireland and across scotland where they could merge. 21 to 24 scotland where they could merge. 21 to 2a celsius, more like the mid to high teens of scotland and Northern Ireland. For many, it is acquired or day with spells of sunshine and just wa nted day with spells of sunshine and just wanted to show respect and heavier and persistent rain sweeping across the uk on friday and behind that, we will see the wind strengthening in touch gale force on england and wales on saturday. Hello this is bbc news. The headlines. The Prime Minister welcomes his first eu leader to downing street as ministers deny they want eu talks to fail, so that therell be a no deal brexit. A courts told the six year old allegedly pushed from the tenth floor of the tate modern broke his back and suffered a bleed on the rain. Some people evacuated from properties below a damaged dam in derbyshire are being allowed back to their homes. Five days after they were rushed from their homes in Whaley Bridge, dozens of residents have been told they can finally go home. 1500 people left their homes last thursday when the dam at toddbrook reservoir was badly damaged after torrential rain. The reservoirs levels have now dropped far enough for experts to make the structure stable. Judith moritz reports. This is the view from an raf chinook as it makes its way across the derbyshire countryside. Its flown this journey hundreds of times, but every time has to be as exact as the last. The helicopter and dam must line up, each gravel bag dropped with precision. This is a battle that has been waged from the air, across the ground and in the water. The goal, to lower the reservoir level by eight metres. Thats below the point where the dam failed. This morning, after six days of effort, they did it. The water, now at target level but the displaced people of this community, not immediately allowed back home. If youve managed to get to that magic eight metre figure, why arent people straight back into their houses . If we get further extreme weather events, it could fill very quickly so we need to make sure we got a resilient plan in place to make sure that the reservoir doesnt fill and if any water get into the reservoir we can pump it out. They have been moving further away from disaster with every gallon pumped through miles and miles of pipeline. A challenge so big that a new road had to be built to bring equipment in. The people of Whaley Bridge know that this is all to save their town, and many have shown their gratitude to the Emergency Services. They flew over, over the weekend, and somebody had put out in white stones on the ground, they had just written a thank you in white stones on the ground. Thats the sort of incredible thing that makes everything we are doing so worthwhile, when you see that. But theres been frustration, too. Six days of dam rescue has also meant six days away for 1,500 people who were evacuated from their homes and businesses. Our entire life was in the hands of whether the dam burst or not. I suppose its just the uncertainty. And other people, because we employ people so its their livelihood as well, isnt it . Its been six days now. I mean, ive not been able to go to work, hes not been able to go to holiday club. You know, were just stuck. And obviously its the money situation as well. So we dont know if we are getting paid. Tonight, you can see how much water has been taken out of toddbrook reservoir. Its hoped the community will return over the next few days. But its not the end for the crews, who will carry on working on the stricken dam. Judith moritz reporting. Residents from Whaley Bridge have met with more than 1000 members of the Emergency Services who have been working to make the dam safe, so they can return to their homes. Our correspondent, fiona trott was at the meeting, and sent this update. Some delighted residents at this site at the reservoir this evening, being told they can now return home. They had been there for about six days now, and Emergency Services are now getting specific rates so they can take and we are also hearing that decision could be taken midday tomorrow, after a meeting with the Environment Agency on whether the rest of the 1500 residents who had been evacuated can also return to their home. They have to make sure, they have to be 100 certainty area is an essay. That is why further meetings still have to take place. They are able to say this now because of all the hard work thats been happening here at the reservoir, 23 pumps working around emergency teens from the royal air force, you can hear the chinook helicopter behind me thats been dropping hundreds of times that aggregate onto that damaged part of wall. Fire crews from ten regions across the country, private contractors all making sure that water level was low and math for engineers to get to the band water today, and make that assessment on both sides of the wall. Using Laser Technology to make sure their residence that are returning will be 100 safe. We are getting an idea of the scale of this as well, not the people involved in this we are told it involves more than 1000 workers. We are also hearing water level is 9. 5, almost 9. 5 metres below the normal amount. You really get a sense of how fast thanks also to etta, how fast the people here i did on the ground had been working. Residents also, deadlines are put to rest, with some staying in their homes and refusing to leave, because they were concerned about burglaries. Police telling them dont worry, we have patrols and we are using Drone Technology to make sure your properties are safe, and they are saying their weapons, but they are saying their weapons, but they are saying their weapons, but they are hopeful there will be more good news tomorrow. Since the beginning of this year, more than 100 mps say theyve had to contact the police because of threats and abuse theyve received. Bbc research has found that more than three quarters of the mps who responded said they had been threatened or abused in the past year alone. The man who chairs parliaments Security Panel says some mps have told him they wont stand at the next election because of fears for their safety. Our special correspondent lucy manning has been hearing from some mps about the abuse they face. Bleep off out of our country. Youre not even british. Youre not english. You have to be white to be english. Youre all a bunch of lying traitors and should be taken outside and shot. Pictures of decapitated bodies, with messages saying that individuals were going to come after my family. Im going to come round to your office, im going to kick down the door and im going effing hurt you. Simon, youre a bleep. Youre a fake, phony, pathetic excuse of an mp. Im going to murder you, im going to rape your wife. Im going to rape your daughters. You shouldnt have a british passport. Youre an isis sympathiser. Imean. A long line of expletives. In the Research Conducted by bbc news, more than three quarters of mps who responded told us they had been targeted for abuse. Of those, 77 had contact with the police and 20 mps told us they had received death threats. When your son answers the door and its the bomb squad, in full equipment, dealing with a potential bomb attack, thats not nice for a teenager. It makes you wonder as to whether or not youve put your family inadvertently at risk. Do you feel their safety is at risk . Yes, i do. Ive had to have increased security around my house. Ive had advice from police regarding cordoning off part of my garden so that my children can play safely. I have been threatened and abused, and somebody got 56 days. You just never know what steps somebody might take, the next step, and who they might have a go at. Somebody threatened to nail bomb our office. In any other profession, the hr team would be in complete meltdown with some of this stuff. I have been in situations where i have felt threatened for my own physical safety. And i have the murder ofjo cox in the back of my mind. Its very, very frightening. Research by Sheffield University into twitter abuse shows david lammy is the most abused mp. That male mps receive more abuse than female ones, and injune mps received more abuse than ever before. They would have seen maybe for a month there would be about 20,000, 30,000 abusive messages. Whereas if we take the month ofjune, there are now about 60,000 abusive messages in total. So, effectively, this is a very significant increase in terms of the abuse they are receiving and theyre exposed to. Mps now carry personal alarms. Many have changed the way constituency surgeries operate and have increased security there and at home. And a police team deal with many more complaints. We know that people feel intimidated to change their vote, they feel that the stress has gone beyond it. But its the threat level that is beyond anything weve ever known before. And the fact is that when mps turn round to me and say, im not going to stand again, i dont feel safe, i dont need this, my familys got to come first, we are in danger of losing democracy in this country. An mp has already been murdered. There have been attempts to kill others, physical and verbal attacks. Soubry, sour face and a constant barrage of online abuse. And the dividing lines of brexit are still to be settled. Its so absolutely widespread that it has just become almost normalised as part of politics now. Lucy manning, bbc news. The former Manchester United and england striker wayne rooney is returning to english football after a year in america playing for dc united. The 33 year old is joining derby county on an 18 month deal starting in january as a player coach. I had ihada i had a decision to make and the opportunity to come back to england and pray, ithought opportunity to come back to england and pray, i thought and opportunity to come back to england and pray, ithought and i opportunity to come back to england and pray, i thought and i took it up and pray, i thought and i took it up and working with the developer is said and it was too great to turn down, so im delighted to obey it be back here. Dave cockram is an everton adviser and football agent who saw rooney as a young player at the cloud. Hejoins me now from merseyside. Thank you for being with us. Is it a good move for him . Yes, i think its a good move, he still 33, you watch him play for dc united and a few times he was dominating the games in the American League with people saying its not the best, but he played against Young Players. He still got the brains and hes got at fantastic acquisition for derby they are ambitious so why not . I think its not much of a gamble, though using when they need to and his experience is invaluable so yeah, i think its a good move. Its his desire to play so why not . Is this the beginning for hannah for a road into management because Frank Lampard into management because frank lampa rd was there into management because Frank Lampard was there a 70 filing suit . I think so. Wayne cannot stay away from football, its his life. He will be good at what he does not matter what, all the players with respect to i mean like you dont school 53 goals and 120 appearances. And does not get respect like that. With those records, players will respect them. The board is going to respect them. The board is going to respect them. The board is going to respect them. Hes a worldwide name. Wayne rooney will be ok. I think he looked out onto a joyride has done and lampard, looked out onto a joyride has done and lampa rd, because looked out onto a joyride has done and lampard, because those are players who people respect. The kind that can win a game single handedly small batch of special players who have done it and i think he would do really well. I think he is a star and the start of a manager career for him. No doubt he is a great player, but great players dont necessarily make great managers. You are right, its one of those gambles. If he gets the right call and backing with his experience he could go a long way. And you know him well i mean you seen him since he was a child do you think he has the qualities not just he was a child do you think he has the qualities notjust as a player but to make a manager, has he got communications qualities and tactical and strategic qualities that would make him a manager . Yeah, i think you guys. Hes got the character as well, he cannot take any of the job he cannot change moods but once hes crossed a line like that, he is a different man. He wa nts to like that, he is a different man. He wants to win and battle rub off. Wayne will earn his trade as a managerfrom sitting wayne will earn his trade as a manager from sitting on the wayne will earn his trade as a managerfrom sitting on the bench and watching from when he was playing, and hes going to listen. I think hes going to do well i really doi think hes going to do well i really do i think he has all qualities to bea do i think he has all qualities to be a good coach if he gets the right cloud and backing, maybe itll take a bit longer, but look its Stephen Jarrett and Frank Lampard they did really well and i think wayne will follow suit. Thank you forjoining us, babe, everywhere views and urinalysis. Thank you dave. Analysis. One of bollywoods biggest stars is encouraging more girls in india to take up careers in science and technology. Akshay kumars new Film Mission Mangal is based on indias First Space Mission to mars in 2014, in which women played a pivotal role. Bbc Asian Networks Haroon Rashid went to meet the bollywood star in london. History has been created today. India set a world record in 2014 when they successfully send an orbiter to mars on first attempt. It was done on a fraction of the budget other countries had spent on space exploration. Now a new Bollywood Movie called Mission Mangal tells the story of how it happened. It stars top indian actor akshay kumar. The best part about this it i found, which ive neverfound in any other movie, how they used home science in science. They used to cook pooris and they used to save fuel. You will see that is how they save fuel while taking the rocket. It may sound childish but its actually not. This is what so many home science techniques were used in science. Mission mangal focuses partly on the efforts of the women at the Indian Space Research organisation at the time so how important is that aspect of the film . Its very important. From the beginning of my life i have heard people talking about professions where women cannot do, like being an engineer. Why do you think there is less women than men in india taking up those subjects . I dont know. We never knew about any women doing something big. It was always about men, men, men, even in our textbooks, it was always men. Do you think this film will encourage children and teenagers, particular girls, to take up subjects like science and technology . Yes, it will, it will. And im very grateful to god that the timing for this film in my country is great because just now we launched a rocket, the chandrayaan. We have done something great again. Chandrayaan 2 is indias Second Mission to the moon and it was launched last month. Back on earth, akshay kumar has faced criticism for starring in films that promote Narendra Modis policy agenda, such as toilet ek prem katha, which promoted a sanitation campaign. To push cleanliness, if somebody has to Say Something that im doing anything wrong, then i dont care. This government has gone, with space and technology, they have taken 18 which was only 3 earlier. The budget has gone higher. It is good, it is great. I dont mind saying that, if that is what the critics think, that im promoting, i dont mind. With Mission Mangal set to release on Indian Independence day, akshay kumar is hoping to cash in on the pm modis popularity and the patriotic mood of the country. Haroon rashid, bbc news. An underwater robot has been used in the movement of the second largest shark. While despite the prevalence and scottish waters, its little note about the species and its helping this but each will reinforce a case for conservation in the area for a case for conservation in the area for basking sharks. Ive been discussing this with jamie oakes. She told us about the significance of the research. They are huge animals that giant mallets that they filter water with the plankton, and the sharks occur in really high numbers off the west coast of scotland in the summer. Looks like this area could be an important area for them, they have shown quite separate courtship behaviours in the area have been the reason why we wanted to do the project was to find out more about like theyre doing underwater in that area. How will you do that and find out more about their behaviour . So as part of the project lee is really exciting new technology, which is called for shark cam so its an underwater robot is to follow the basking sharks underwater and its remotely connected to the shark, so he follows every moods, and has cameras all around it so they can get 360 degrees views of they can get 360 degrees views of the sharks behaviour underwater, and this means we can get real insight into what they are doing underwater that we havent seen before. And a courtship behaviour particular is what youre investigating. Indeed, so we have seen they are showing courtship behaviours on the surface. But what we are hoping to capture with this new technology is breeding behaviour underwater and thats never been witnessed before in the species in the world. And is part of this to make the case that they need better protection . Yes, so we know that they occur in high numbers in this area said clearly important for them, but if we can shove this air is important for their breeding as well, and help us to reinforce the case for designating this area as marine protected areas and is currently after consultation with the Scottish Government as a proposed marine protected area so we are helping this new information we can gather can really help to strengthen that case.
