Well bring you all the latest developments in new zealand. In other news this evening. Interserve, one of the biggest providers of public services, in prisons, schools and hospitals is expected to go into administration. It employs 16,000 people in the uk. On newswatch, why did bbc news set up on newswatch, why did bbc news set up an operation in bradford this week . I will be speaking to our correspondence whose idea it was. Join us tonight at 7 45 here on bbc news. Good evening. At least 49 people have been killed and dozens more have been injured after a gunman opened fire during friday prayers at two mosques in christchurch in new zealand. A man drove up to the al noor mosque and began shooting as he entered the building at around 1. 40 in the afternoon local time. There was then a second shooting outside the linwood mosque nearby. The gunman identified himself as a 28 year old australian and filmed the shootings broadcasting it all live on social media. The Prime Minister, jacinda ardern, described it as a well planned terrorist attack and one of new zealand s darkest days. Our correspondent Hywel Griffith is in christchurch for us. That sense of despair will take some time to left as People Struggle to compare and what they witnessed. The attacks which started at the mosque just behind that police cordoned down the road from me. In all, 49 lives extinguished in minutes. When morning arrives here in christchurch, a 28 year old man will appear in court charged with all of those 49 murders. We may warn viewers some of the scenes distressing. He shot indiscriminately, sparing no one in his path. I was hearing shooting after shooting after shooting. It went on about six minutes or more. I could hear screaming and crying and i saw some people drop dead. When the fighting started, i looked at one guy changing and another guy on the side driving next to the most house. He just took the gun and started again. A man identifying himself as australian born brendan turned live streamed the attack on facebook. Earlier he published a 70 page document full of anti islamic hatred online, as well as images of his weapons, his slogan scrawled on them by hand. The attack targeted to mosques in christchurch at around 1 40 local time, Police Reported to shots being fired at the mosque in the centre of the city. At least 41 people were killed here. The second shooting was a short drive away. At least seven people were killed. One other died in hospital. Police also diffused several explosive devices attached to a vehicle. Diffused several explosive devices attached to a vehiclelj diffused several explosive devices attached to a vehicle. I heard and saw what i thought were firecrackers andi saw what i thought were firecrackers and i saw young fellas running down the street. All of a sudden, it got quite violent and i thought, no, thatis quite violent and i thought, no, that is not firecrackers. They started falling. One fell to the left of my car and one fell to the right. The guy on the street, he was trying to ring his wife. The other quy trying to ring his wife. The other guy, i trying to ring his wife. The other guy, i could see him, he was in bad shape but i couldnt get to him because that is where the gunfire was coming from. The guy i was compressing, he was trying to ring his wife and i managed to get an a nswer his wife and i managed to get an answer the phone and i said to her, your husband has been shot outside a mosque. I said, your husband has been shot outside a mosque. Isaid, dont your husband has been shot outside a mosque. I said, dont come here, you will not get through, but please go to the hospital and made for him. Then i kept talking to him and telling him that she was at the hospital waiting and he wasnt to give up. We just hospital waiting and he wasnt to give up. Wejust kept hospital waiting and he wasnt to give up. We just kept pressure on until we got him some help. The manhunt three christchurch eventually ended with a car being banned by the police and the suspect being wrestled to the ground. Four people had been arrested, one has 110w people had been arrested, one has now been released. We never assume that there are not other people involved, thats why we have immense presence out there across canterbury and right across new zealand, but we dont have named or identified people we are looking for but it would be wrong to assume that there is no one else. The city s Emergency Services remain on high alert. Christchurch s hospital has been treating dozens of people with gunshot wins and is closed to all other admissions. Late into the night, christchurch has remained a city on lockdown. There is genuine fear that there may yet be further attacks across the country. All mosques have been ordered to close their doors for the very first time new zealand s Terror Threat has been raised to high. New zealand s Prime Minister swiftly condemned the shootings as an act of terror and reassure the countrys small Muslim Population that they should not have to live in fear. Many of those who will have been directly affected by this shooting may be migrants to new zealand, they may even be refugees here. They have chosen to make new zealand their home and it is their home. They are us. The person who has perpetuated this violence against us is not. The deep sense of shock felt in new zealand has echoed around the world. Messages have been sent from the pope, President Trump and the queen. New zealanders astonished that this could have happened. You dont think something i guess could have happened in new zealand, in christchurch of all places. There are small community, kind and loving, so i dont understand why someone would hurt us like this in such a way, like an animal. Why would you treat us like that . In times of such sorrow, there is little that can comfort people today as they confront the question of how such violent extremism could have been allowed to fester here. We are now starting to learn a little more about the victims in the shooting and they came from the four corners of the globe, some from jordan, some from malaysia, some Syrian Refugees who had started life here again. Measures have been sent to comfort and cancel people and make them feel safe. There are armed policeman on several of the street corners here to try and ensure public safety. But there is still a sense of fear and the unknown here. Tomorrow the Prime Minister is expected to come to tell people what more she can do to try and sure nothing i guess could ever happen again. So the gunman said he was a 28 year old australian called brenton tarrant. Our security correspondent Gordon Corera has been trying to find out more about the man and his motives. Brenton tarrant has been identified as the 28 year old moments later, he would enter a mosque to kill. Born ina born in a stringer, he trafficked travelled widely. For the attack, he posted a rambling 70 page document online. He described himself as just an ordinary white man, born to a working class family. But also as a racist fascist and nationalist. He said he wanted to target what he called invaders to incite violence and spread fear. On his video he showed an arsenal of weapons in the but of his car and two days earlier, he appears to have posted images of some of the weapons and social media. He had ridden names on them, including of other people who had attacked muslims and historic battles. He said he was not a member of any organisation or acting under orders but he did have contact with many nationalist groups. Should the authorities had known about him . That question was asked of the new Zealand Police chief. That is a very good question. What i want to tell you right now is that we had no information about these people and i can also tell you that i have been in contact with my australian colleagues. They have no information on them at all either. Eight years ago, norway was hit by one of the worst extreme right wing terror attacks. Dozens of left wing teenagers shot dead. Turned said this was an inspiration and claims to have brief contact with the perpetrator. He also says he supported attack at Finsbury Park mosque in london in 2017 when a car was rammed into worshippers. On one of the weapons is the word rotherham, able reference to the child sex abuse scandal in the england, leading to questions about whether he could have links in the uk. This is obviously an emerging and fast moving picture but we will be resolute in pursuing all lines of investigation. If there are any links that need to be pursued, that is what we will do. There has been growing concern about the rise in extreme right wing activity here in the uk over the last years. That is why in the last six months, but the first time, the security service, m15, first time, the security service, mi5, has become involved in investigating. Turned said he only recently decided on christchurch as his target. The authorities in new zealand and others around the world will now be focusing on this thread with any urgency. We can cross to hyde park in Central London, where a vigil has been held, and speak to our correspondent jon ironmonger. I think the shock and horror of these events has many resonated around the world but particularly here in london and the uk. In london there is a large new zealand Expat Community and they have really come together in grief. We have seen a poignant display earlier today, a vigil held in the incident were memorial. You may not be able to see much of it now but it is right in the middle of Central London on a roundabout. There were probably 300 people, mostly New Zealanders living in london. There was a speech by a new zealand high commissioner to london in which he said values would not be shaken by the second callus events that happened here. That was followed by some traditional music and a short reflective silence. I am joined by the organiser. Tell me first, why did you feel you wanted to organise the schedule this evening s is a british midland, i felt it was important to bring people together and show that during this difficult time, you have to respond with love and not hate. This difficult time, you have to respond with love and not hatelj can many of us, we respond with love and not hatelj can many of us, we are so respond with love and not hatelj can many of us, we are so sick living in fear so when the news broke this morning, it was important to remember that lead comes first and to bring people together, thats how we deal with terrorism. What are some of the reactions you have seen from the people you have brought together here . Everyone is quite upset actually. Especially a lot of the New Zealanders here, they have a tight knit community and therefore, for them it was difficult being so far away from home. Its important for everyone to experience and be together during this time and not alone at home. You are a new zealander living in london, just tell me, you are so far from zealander living in london, just tell me, you are so farfrom home, what was it like finding out about these events this morning . M what was it like finding out about these events this morning . It was tough to wake up to because you dont expect to hear that from new zealand, it such a small country, tight community is and we dont expect to hear the sorts of things. We we re expect to hear the sorts of things. We were just shocked. Its com pletely we were just shocked. Its completely untypical, isnt it . To have such a horrible terror attack in new zealand . Exactly, wejust didnt know how to react. Without this was the best way to show 11 support, to stand together as a committee and send our best wishes to new zealand for a real show of solidarity, of sympathy here in london and of course around the world. We can now speak to the imam leads mosque. What reaction have you been hearing from worshippers today . Words cannot describe the barbarity of the christchurch attack. Muslims are in pain, in utter shock and disbelief, but we need to come together to fight extremism. I think one way to honour the victims of christchurch and the terrorist attack is to talk about far right extremism and the growing levels of islam for beer that is happening across the world. It took about those growing levels, how much are you conscious of those in the area that you are based in . Britain is one of the most tolerant countries in the world, but we cannot be complacent about the erosion of our value, tolerance. We are seeing, on a daily basis, young women being attacked on the streets and online, and deep muslim sentiments are on the rise. Just today, you might think that actually this new zealand attack happened in a distant land but actually, there are reports that an individual shouted outside a mosque, saying that the attack should have happened here, rather than in new zealand. So, it is a daily occurrence for some people but definitely something that the Muslim Community is very concerned about. We are deeply anxious and concerned about the growing levels of anti muslim hatred. About the growing levels of antimuslim hatred. As she took about that incident in leeds today, how much are you been able to move around the city and talk to people in different places about their concerns that inevitably have arisen asa concerns that inevitably have arisen as a result of all of this . Muslims are to be concerned and anxious about the current levels and the threat posed by the far right. At the same time, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and appreciation shown by people across the globe. Including politicians and faith leaders, civic leaders, all of them have come together to say they stand together with us and we hope this standing together can be put interaction so that we can criminalise this phobia. Obviously, the threat becomes real when a person outside a mosque shout that actually, the killings should have to compete here. We have thousands of people coming to the mosque and they dont want their mosque and they dont want their mosque to be turned into confined places, places where people cannot openly go. So, we are grateful to the police who have shown their support and the visible presence of Police Outside mosques gives that reassurance to people. We just showed an image of you with the Police Outside a mosque today. He talked about figures of authority and some of the messages that are coming from figures of authority. Are you hearing enough from them to try and counter this at the moment . I think today has shown that actually, we are all united against all forms of extremism and the m essa 9 es all forms of extremism and the messages from the Prime Minister, the home secretary, the secretary of state for communities and all of the key politicians, including the Labour Party Leader and all the other leaders, have shown that we are united against all forms of extremism. I think what needs to happen, we need to criminalise this phobia, so people can be held accountable. They are populist leaders, there are sections of the media have shown a disparity when it comes to extremism perpetrated by islamic extremism is or far right extremists and that normalisation of the phobia gives fuel to those who wish to radicalise people online as well as on our streets. We appreciate your time, thank you for coming on. As weve heard, australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison described the man as an extremist, right wing terrorist. So just how serious is the threat from right wing extremism . Paul stocker is a senior fellow at the centre for analysis of the far right and joins me in the studio now. Given what Scott Morrison has said, how much do you read into what this man has written, has said in advance of today . Having looked into his ma nifesto, of today . Having looked into his manifesto, it does seem pretty typical of far right extremists and in particularfor typical of far right extremists and in particular for terrorists that weve seen before. The manifesto is very similar to Anderson Mike who perpetrated 2011 attack in norway and exquisitely references him in it. It is nothing we havent seen before. There was little new content i saw before. There was little new content isaw in before. There was little new content i saw in that, it is really White Nationalist myths, conspiracy theories and a lot of narratives that are common to all thyroid extremists. For which there clearly isa extremists. For which there clearly is a following . Its about how many are following, to an extent . Absolutely and is very difficult to quantify how many are following because in the past if you wanted to analyse who is a member of the far right, you might look at party memberships but now it is a much online based community, very difficult to track who is interested , difficult to track who is interested, who is not. They difficult to monitor the numbers and particularly difficult to monitor the number of people who might conduct an attack such as the one we saw today. It is perfectly likely there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who follow the same beliefs. The question is, how many of them are prepared to put it into action, and that we do not know. People who were watching this as it happened, he was streaming it online . Yes, and i think that helped us online . Yes, and i think that helped us understand what the motivations are. Obviously it is to cause pain and harm to these islamic communities, it is also about killing people who they believe to be degenerating western supplies asian but it is about glorifying violence. It is about trying to influence the next generation of far right terrorists. He has clearly taken inspiration from anders and the way he muttered himself three ma nifesto the way he muttered himself three manifesto anti subsidy stands and he is clearly trying to the same party filmed it just goes is clearly trying to the same party filmed itjust goes to show how much they value the publicity that the tax create. We are told, this was two years tax create. We are told, this was two yea rs possibly tax create. We are told, this was two years possibly in the planning . Yes. To conduct an attack like this, it cannot be something that is done spontaneously. Obviously this one, it was more sophisticated than just deciding he was going to do it on the day. Indeed, otherattacks involving explosives are often very, very methodically and stop so there are ways to intervene but it is very difficult, as i say, to find out when and who is going to turn rhetoric and far right ideas and it is kind of violent action. That is the challenge that the Security Services face. If this is on the rise, is it possible to say why . Well, i would argue that it is on the rise. We have to be careful in terms of whether we say it is on the rise. Thats why i approached it carefully. There certainly have been many more high profile attacks over the last years. I would argue it is on the rise because much of politics of the far right has become more normalised and it is a view that you keep coming back to when you speak to leaders of the Muslim Community, when you speak to the victims of these attacks who are often ethnic minorities, social minorities. They feel they are being demonised by more and more mainstream forces such as tabloid newspapers and politicians. Extremists are notjust living in their own little bubble. They do link their actions to a wider mainstream set of ideas so i think that is something we have to address as well. Thank you very much for coming in. Im nowjoined byjenna lynch, political reporter at newshub . A new zealand news service whos going to review christchurch shootings coverage at some of the local newspapers and news websites. Give us a sense of what you have been able to read at this stage . Theres just a complete sense of shock, but throughout the new Zealand Community but also in the media. It has been called the end of innocence, which i think is quite right. New zealand has always been a safe country. We have always thought of ourselves as a safe country and perhaps we were a little naive in thinking this would never happen here, but it does feel as if there has been a sea change in new zealand following the news today of these attacks. Is that the overriding mood that youre sensing from people, this idea that you never really imagined that Something Like this could possibly have happened here . Yes, the politicians were taken by surprise, the whole country was taken by surprise but doubly so there early reports coming out of christchurch gunshots and even that isa christchurch gunshots and even that is a shock to us in new zealand. We dont get the shootings very often, any shootings, adjust the scale of this massacre took on a bus by surprise. It is a shock, dismay, angen surprise. It is a shock, dismay, anger, heartbreak, the whole country is filling this. We are a tiny country, and i stated country and it feels like it is a role reversal. We just heard that donald trump has been on the phone to our Prime Minister and that feels utterly bizarre, that he would be calling us to talk about a tear tack, and of the other way around. It is Early Morning with you at the moment and people will be watching with great anxiety in the coming hours as more developments occur no doubt thats right, the prime minster was working late into the night last night. We are told she turned up early this morning and is already in the building. She will be going to christchurch today at some point. She will give a briefing and in about half an hour, we will get more ofa about half an hour, we will get more of a sense of what has happened overnight. You mentioned newspapers, clearly website as well, you will be following all of those in the coming hours cosmic yes, we got quite a small media here but looking at on of the front pages of the websites, there are at least 20 stories. All there are at least 20 stories. All the websites are dominated by this. One other thing i wanted to point out on the front page here, this is normally a blue colour. But also down here, it usually has a forecast and itjust down here, it usually has a forecast and it just says, down here, it usually has a forecast and itjust says, it is a dark day for new zealand. That is how we are all feeling. Thank you very much. And well find out how this story and many others are covered in tomorrows front pages at 10 40 and 11 30 this evening in the papers our guests joining me tonight are kate proctor, Political Correspondent at the Evening Standard and henry zeffman, Political Correspondent at the times. Control of one of britains biggest government contractors, interserve, has moved to a new company after administrators were appointed. It comes after shareholders rejected a rescue deal for the company, which has 45,000 uk staff, and nearly 70,000 across the world. The company cleans schools and hospitals, runs catering and probation services, and manages construction projects. Two Young Brothers have died in a hit and run car crash in wolverhampton. Sanjay singh, aged 10, and paw anveer singh, who was almost 2 , were in a car being driven by their mother when it crashed with an audi. Police have urged the driver of the audi, who left the scene, to come forward. The jury at the trial of the match commander at the hillsborough disaster, David Duckenfield, has been told that the decision to prosecute him is breathtakingly unfair. His defence barrister made the comments in his closing statement. Mr duckenfield, whos 74, denies the gross negligence manslaughter of 95 supporters who died in a crush at the Football Ground in 1989. Our correspondent Judith Moritz reports. Today, it was said that it must be one of the most heartbreaking cases ever to come before an engaged court. David duckenfield is accused of causing the deaths that his defence say he has been singled out u nfa i rly defence say he has been singled out unfairly and held responsible for other peoples incompetence. They say the hillsborough stadium was potentially lethal, badly designed and riddled with faults. Defending David Duckenfield, the qc said, it is like giving a captain a ship that is like giving a captain a ship that is already sinking, and then judging him by how well he is selling it. Thejury him by how well he is selling it. The jury was shown this photograph of crushing eight years before the disaster. They heard there was a history of near misses at hillsborough but no body had told David Duckenfield about past problems. In 1989, the crash was fatal when the terraces became dangerously full. This safety barrier collapsed under the pressure. 96 men, women and children lost their lives. The youngest, a boy of ten, the oldest, a pensioner. Ben myers said no matter how great the sympathy must be, convicting David Duckenfield as a way of expressing it, would be very wrong indeed. He said he was being judged by different standards to others. Earlier today the prosecution said the trial was 30 years late but it was about David Duckenfield s for yea rs was about David Duckenfield s for years and not those of other people. The westminster leader of the democratic unionists, nigel dodds, says hes had good discussions with cabinet ministers ahead of a third vote on the brexit deal. The dups support is seen as key to persuading more conservative mps to back the agreement when it goes before the commons next week. We wa nt we want to get a deal, we have a lwa ys we want to get a deal, we have always been in that frame of mind. We dont want to leave without a deal but a lot will depend on terms of what the government is able to do in terms of providing those guarantees that are necessary to assuage our concerns. Thousands of children in the uk have again left their classrooms to join a global day of protests against climate change. They took place in several major towns and cities, this was in brighton and there were similar ones around the world. They have been inspired by the swedish teenager, 16 year old greta thunberg, whos staging a long running protest outside parliament in stockholm. Now its time for a look at the weather. We end the working week on a petty 20 note and things are not going to quieten down in a hurry through the weekend. Through the rest of this evening, we had rain across the bulk of england and wales and Northern Ireland to wear some of the rain will turn to snow over the higher ground. A cold night for Northern Ireland, with an in and and scotland where we will see sleet and snow on the high ground. It is milder across the high ground. It is milder across the bulk of england and wales, still some heavy bursts of rain with steep winds as well. It is across scotland that we will see the snow continuing. These wind gusts, they could be up to 60 mph, particular across england and wales. Less windy but colder further west. We could see around ten to 12 degrees further south but it will fail and. Sunday looks like another blustery day across the country. A mix of sunny spells and showers, some of them wintry of a higher ground. Top temperature, eight or 9 degrees. For yea rs for years and years and years, they are ourfriends, our neighbours. For years and years and years, they are our friends, our neighbours. We embrace them at this time. I know that i speak for all of the people in christchurch when i say how much we wa nt in christchurch when i say how much we want to come together to support them. So we want to Work Together with those communities, to ensure that we do this appropriately. And supporting within the time and space that they need to deal with the immediate issues that are at hand. We still have injured people in the hospital. We will find a time and a place for us to come together, and to share that sense of grief and loss. But also to share that sense of love, compassion and support that we feel for the community. The next thing is that people have said that they want to lay floral tributes or other tributes. In memory and respect of those who have died. So we have made available the guardian while, near the art centre. The reason we chose that place is because it is close to the hospital. There is a direct connection with the people whose lives have been lost. We know that the police still had recordings on the two mosques, and we do want to ask people to stay away from those places we know that the police still had cordons on those two mosques. We want to make sure resources are made available to the community at an appropriate time. The next thing that has come through is a strong desire also to contribute money. There are people who are offering financial support, who are offering financial support, who want to help out. I know that victims support has set up an immediate help line fund for supporting the family members, the victims of this terrible attack. The Christchurch Foundation which has been recently established will also set upa been recently established will also set up a fund. It wontjust be for the immediate aftermath of what we have experienced in the city, but it will be about rebuilding communities, rebuilding what has been lost and ensuring that the communities are able to be well supported, into the future. And it will be announced by the Christchurch Foundation this morning. All of the flags are flying at half mast on our counsel buildings. Today and untilfurther notice. This is an expression of our civic support for the communities and the loss that has been experienced. Many events at the weekend had been cancelled as well. Some of them will be known to you already. The crickets test between new zealand and bangladesh, which i think is a powerful statement of the support from both sides. Exporting fraternity that were gathered here in the city an important game, out of respect and not playing that game today. The bryan adams concert will not proceed either. All support and hagley park is cancelled until further notice. You talked about support. Can you go into more detail . Sadly, because of the numbers of people who have been killed, there will have to be a large number of funerals. They are very specific requirements in terms of muslim funerals. The council is working very closely with the communities to ensure that there are proper places available for preparation and for appropriate grades to be done. They are being done today. How software you that this happened in your city . Very shocked that it has happened here, but i am shocked that it has happened in new zealand. This hasnt happened in new zealand. This hasnt happened in new zealand. This hasnt happened in any other city in this country, and i think that i will be equally shocked. The reason we had been targeted, i think, is i understand they made a deliberate decision to target our city and our country. And that was because we are a safe city and a safe country. And that was the message. In my response to the choice of christchurch by this terrorist individual who chooses to terrorise our city, it is an act of cowardice that he has performed. I guess there are no words to describe the repulsion that i feel for the propaganda that he wa nted i feel for the propaganda that he wanted to bring with us. And i will not give voice to the propaganda. His was the voice of hate. The only way that communities can respond to the voice of hate is to come together and love, with compassion and kindness. I havent been so concerned at all. Ive only been the mayor of Christ Church for the last five and a half years. Prior to that, i was a member of parliament for over 20 years. This sort of extremism is not something that we have seen here. But he is not from here. He came here with hate in his heart, and intention to kill in his mind. He did not develop his hatred here. He came here to perform this act of terrorism. Have you spoken to the mayor . No, i have not spoken to the mayor . No, i have not spoken to the mayor. I heard this morning on the mayor. I heard this morning on the radio that there is an interest ina the radio that there is an interest in a property there. Ive spoken to the Prime Minister and the minister of police and the minister of civil offence. I certainly have reached out. I have received messages from almost every mayor in the city, including dunedin, and a number of mayors from around the world have contacted me as well. To share their sense of horror and compassion for our city. For the attack involves explosive devices . I heard the commissioner of police correct that Statement Last night. That there we re Statement Last night. That there were two devices and one car. But is the christchurch mayor updating the meeting this morning. We are expecting the Prime Minister to address the nation at nine a m. She talked about the Community Coming together. The financial offers of support that were coming in from a substantial offers in some cases. She talked about the various events that had been either cancelled or postponed as a mark of respect. The cricket test match that was due to ta ke cricket test match that was due to take place in christchurch between new zealand and bangladesh. We know some offence bangladesh cricketers we re very some offence bangladesh cricketers were very close to being inside the first of the mosques that was attacked. Also a concert that has been cancelled as well. As you saw, she was being asked on the ceiling television about the fact that, was there any concern in advance of this attack about extremism . There any concern in advance of this attack about extremism . She said that in her political career, there had not been. Either as a mayor of Christ Church or previously when she was a member of parliament. She stressed the fact that in this instance, the attacker was not from the ceiling and had gone to new zealand to carry out the attack. Those are the last few remarks of the mayor of Christ Church. The attack was life strained and the police have called for people not to share the distressing images they saw. Working hard to remove any copies of the video. Our Technology Correspondent now reports. It was an attack streamed live on the internet by someone apparently determined to use social media to spread a message of hate. A gunman identified as Brendan Tarrant to use facebook to show his every move for the 70 minute attack. It became a social media event, watched by the world. I went and looked today, and i got to tell you, while he was committing this atrocity, he was being cheered on by hundreds of people on these channels, including New Zealanders. That is disgusting. Lets not think that we are immune to this. In an age of globalised telecommunications, we are no longer under a benign security environment. Facebook says that it acted swiftly. Other social media firms say they are trying to remove the video. Here is youtube saying that they are going to work vigilantly to remove any violent footage. A while back, we had a look on youtube with a simple search that we found that someone else had uploaded the full 16 and a half minute video from that gunman. We reported it, and it is now being removed. But more seem to pop up. When someone post at the video on youtube or facebook and it needs to be taken down, those are human moderate behind the scene who have to make that call, he didnt actually have to do the work to take it down. It is not automatic, it is not Artificial Intelligence that is doing it, it is human beings. There is not simply enough human moderators to keep it with a number people putting those videos online and causing it to go viral. Facebook and other social media firms are investing in people and technology to remove extremist content. There is mounting pressure from politicians. More needs to be done to identify this type of content, to take it down quickly, and once identified, crucially for the Tech Companies that prevent it from being reuploaded. But extremist material like that posted by the gunman spread so rapidly because so many People Choose to share it. Changing our online behaviour remains the biggest challenge. Rory cellanjones, bbc news. Dozens of people attending friday prayers were caught up in the atrocity and bystanders too were affected. One woman who was driving past at the time of the shooting, told reporters what she saw as she stopped to help. And i heard and saw what i thought were firecrackers and i saw young fellas running down the street. And all of a sudden, it got quite violent. I thought, thats not firecrackers. And they started falling. And one felljust to the left of my car and one fell to the right and. For a few minutes i stopped the car in shock and i leaned either way, im not sure, across the seats to try and avoid getting shot. And apparently a bullet went sailing over my car and struck the one in the back. And hes all right, the guy, he was very good. And we pulled up and i opened up my doors, or my drivers door, and got out and the guy in the black commodore, whatever it was, came up and said, are you all right . I opened my passengers door and my drivers door and we pulled him round behind and then opened up the back as well to give us some protection. And he had a first aid kit and he crouched and ran all the way back to get it. And he lifted up his shirt and he dressed it and i put the pressure on. And then a nice muslim guy came and gave me some help as well because you have to put quite a bit of pressure on and my poor old hands were shaking that hard, i was scared i wouldnt be able to do a good job. And the worst thing was, we could hear the ambulances but they couldnt get to us. And then a nice guy on the other side, who was on the other side, he put three people in his car and took them to hospital. And the guy on the street, he was trying to ring his wife, that i heard, and the other guy could see, he was in bad shape but i couldnt get to him because that was where directly the gunfire was coming from. And. And the guy i was compressing, he was trying to ring his wife. I managed to get it and i answered the phone and i said to her, your husbands been shot outside the mosque. Dont come here to deans ave, you wont get through, but please go to the hospital and wait for him. Then i kept talking to him and telling him
