Mixture of sunshine and showers. Most of the showers for the eastern side of the uk. A patchy frost. Join me later. Its sunday the 28th of october. Our top story a helicopter has crashed and burst into flames only minutes after taking off from the ground of Leicester City Football Club. The bbc has been told that the owner of the club, vichai srivaddhanaprabh, was on board but so far there has been no official confirmation. Our reporter ashley mcvey has the latest. The shock. Oh, my god. A helicopters just crashed next to the stadium. The confusion. All we seen was the helicopter above the Football Ground, spiralling, like out of control. And then we just seen it hit the floor, a big ball of fire just went up. Absolutely awful. Some even thought they may be able to help. I tried to get in there but i couldnt see anyone. A about an hour after the match, this was the scene in the car park to the rear of Leicester City Football Ground. The owners helicopter had just taken off from inside, as it does following every home game. Moments later, eyewitnesses say the aircraft cleared the stadium but then fell silent and came down like a stone. Leicester city has been riding high recently. In 2016, the foxes won the premier league from odds of 5000 1. Their owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, has poured millions into the club. Watched him take off, literally walked up the road, bit of a boom. Probably the darkest day in Leicester City Football Clubs history. Match of the day and former leicester player gary lineker said last nights programme was the most difficult he has ever hosted. And leicester start striker jamie vardy sent this tweet. Leicester police said the air Accident Investigation Branch would be leading the inquiry into the circumstances of the crash adding that a cordon would remain in place while inspectors examine the scene. Our reporter Simon Clemison is outside the king power stadium in leicester this morning. What is striking here is as we wait for official confirmation about what has happened and who was on board the helicopter, is how important a figure Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was to Leicester City. Notjust because of his financial con tradition that the connection he had with fans. Of course. He is hugely important. I was a reporter here in leicester 20 yea rs was a reporter here in leicester 20 years ago and at the time, the foxes we re years ago and at the time, the foxes were doing well, they had some big su ccesses were doing well, they had some big successes but they were in a com pletely successes but they were in a completely different place. Those fa ns completely different place. Those fans really thank him for that, thank him for the millions he has poured into the club. He buys them a pint on his birthday, he buys them a mince pie at christmas. This morning, we have seen before coming down with flowers and laying them here by the stadium. They had gone last night by the time the crash happened at many came back again. I was ina happened at many came back again. I was in a train heading to london at the time and i was talking to some of the hammers fans and they were sending their thoughts and pressed to the stadium here. There is an awful lot of anxiety about what has happened. As you say, chris, without having official confirmation, we await it here with extreme anxiety. Prosecutors in the United States have charged a man with 29 offences including hate crimes and murder in connection with a mass shooting at a synagogue in pittsburgh. 11 people died after a gunman opened fire during morning service. Six others were wounded. The suspect has been named as 46 year old Robert Bowers. 0ur north america correspondent gary 0donoghue reports. Just a few short hours after the hate filled murder of ii jewish worshippers, hundreds of people from this Community Came together to grieve and to comfort one another. Some chose to speak up, some to stand and remain silent, all still in shock and disbelief over the horror of what had taken place. All day the police were at the scene of the shooting, meticulously gathering their evidence. The sheer scale of brutality of the crime becoming clearer by the minute. Later in the evening, Robert Bowers was indicted, with 29 separate charges laid against him. Many accused him of murder motivated by religious hatred. Announcer donald] trump donald trump was out election campaigning in illinois, announcing his intention to travel to pittsburgh in the coming days. Hes also ordered flags to be flown at half mast at the white house and other federal buildings for the next four days. This evil anti semitic attack is an assault on all of us. Its an assault on humanity. Later, the names of those who died will be released. And the fbi are expected to answer questions about how someone was such a flagrantly anti semitic Online Presence wasnt picked up before he could perpetrate such a crime. The authorities here sayjustice will be swift and severe. But for the Jewish Community of squirrel hill, its going to take a long, long time to come to terms of how someone could commit such a hate filled crime. Gary 0donoghue, bbc news, pittsburgh, pennsylvania. Sir philip green has again denied allegations he racially and sexually abused former employees. The businessman told the mail on sunday newspaper there had only been some banter which had never been offensive. He had been granted an injunction banning the publication of the allegations but the labour peer lord hain named him in parliament. Sir philip says the last week has been the worst of his life. The number of hit and run crashes has risen by almost half in the past four years, the bbc has learned. There were more than 28,000 cases last year in england and wales and road safety campaigners are calling for longer prison sentences. Last year the ministry ofjustice announced life sentences will be introduced for those who cause death by dangerous driving. The duke and duchess of sussex have arrived in new zealand which is the last stop on their 16 day tour. Harry and meghan will visit wellington and auckland over the next four days, where they will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier. 0ur royal correspondentjonny dymond has been following the couple and has just sent this report. Well, here outside the National War Memorial, the response you can see has been enthusiastic to the couple. They have been in the country for a couple of hours and were greeted by the Prime Minister at the airport and then they made their way to the governor generals residents and thatis governor generals residents and that is the queens representative in new zealand. There was a traditional welcome, a hungi and then a bloodcurdling haka. Then a more traditional welcome from the armed forces that where prince harry made into a down the line of the military and inspected the guard of honour lost the band played. Then came to the National War Memorial and laid a wreath while the last post was played. Any moment now, they will come out and make a walkabout with the thousands who have come out here on a rather chilly sunday afternoon to have if they are lucky, a chat with the royal couple. They have had a welcome in australia and tonga but it looks like it will be outclassed by the reception they have had here in new zealand. Good morning to you. Youve probably heard a lot about universal credit this week, and not much of it has been good. Another report out today is piling criticism on the system, with a group of mps, this time from the work and Pensions Committee, warning the support offered to people transferring to the scheme is woefully inadequate. We should remind ourselves that this is the idea of crunching six benefits into one and as we say, coming through a lot of criticism. What is the essence of the content of your report . When universal credit was brought in, the Government Mps were all promised, a, that nobody would lose out when it is transferred over and b, they would be able to move on to rent is being paid directly to them. In actual fact what we have found and what he set out is that that report has been whittled away to practically nothing. There is supposed to be an online claim form and they just now supposed to be an online claim form and theyjust now get two hours support to help them log onto the internet, help them set up an account and go through all of that form but then they have to cut manage their claim online and there is no support at all. What do you think should happen now . With the lack of support and the hardship that has been caused by universal credit, i think the government have to ta ke credit, i think the government have to take this last opportunity to stop the programme and make sure that it works properly, invest the money to stop the hardship happening to people and make sure that its not going to have the huge adverse effects that so many organisations across the board are warning them about. When you say stop, what you mean . Scrap it or pause it . |j about. When you say stop, what you mean . Scrap it or pause it . I mean pauseit mean . Scrap it or pause it . I mean pause it to look at exactly whats happening out there. We have been told on worker Pensions Committee that there are about 200 computer fixes needed on universal credit. There are all sorts of problems going on in the background that arent being worked out, id been solved and thats on top of the 3. 2 Million People who are pitched dott predicted are predicted to lose about £2. 5 million from it. The government had said in a statement they are committed to delivering universal credit in a safe and secure way and getting the support right is a key piece of this. What do you want to see in the budget . It is the chancellors big moment tomorrow and there has been a lot of pressure including from conservative mps to Say Something about universal credit and put more money into it. Absolutely. When universal credit was muted seven oi absolutely. When universal credit was muted seven or eight years ago, mooted, and nobody objected to merging them together and making it simpler. The opposite has happened, its not simpler at all and 2015 budget took £12 billion out of welfare. The majority of that came from universal credit and that is the poorest families, lone parents, pa rents the poorest families, lone parents, parents with children disabled people that are losing that an enormous amount of money. You followed the fallout of mooted very, very closely and we have seen the labour leadership contradict themselves. Universal credit. 0ther themselves. Universal credit. Other senior voices have said that if labour was in government it would ta ke if labour was in government it would take an overall look of things that wasnt committing to anything. What you think should happen . Is universal is universal credit . Delly i think it is a moot point. You would consider scrapping it . I think it is a moot point. We cant make a decision unless we have done a report. The government have refused to put out the facts of what the impact of universal credit will be. They are refusing to come public about the that there are behind the scenes with it. When we have another government, then that government is going to have to have to come in, look at it, yes, put a lot more money in and yes, look at the Computer System which is creaking at the moment, it is a moot point whether that Computer System can actually manage the 8 million families that will have to move on to it. If you are scrapping the Computer System and we doing it, if you are putting a huge amount more money in it, to be honest, it doesnt matter whether you call it reworking universal credit or whether you call it something different, its going to have to be looking at looked at to make sure its not inflicting poverty on a whole generation of working people. Thank you for coming in to talk to us, we really appreciate it. Here is darren bett with a look at this mornings weather. It is definitely feeling cooler for me. Yes, today will be a mixture of sunshine and showers. A slightly different distribution of showers because the wind direction has changed. Cold air coming our way, a instead of coming from the arctic it will be from scandinavia and the north sea. That is pushing showers from the north sea in the eastern pa rt from the north sea in the eastern part of scotland and england. That was the radar over the past few hours. A cluster of heavy showers across east anglia and the south east will be there for the next few hours before pushing their way southwards. Lingering close to the coast and through the channel islands. Through scotland and eastern england, some sunny spells, a few showers getting blown in towards the midlands. Wales, Northern Ireland and much of scotla nd Northern Ireland and much of scotland will have a dry day. Here, the winds will be lighter so it probably wont feel quite as cold. Temperatures a shade higher than they were yesterday but still quite brisk wind blowing in those showers towards the south east of the uk. It will feel chilly despite temperatures of ten or 11 degrees. Those numbers will fall very quickly during the evening because the wind is lighter. A few showers running onto some of these north sea coast including the english channel. More cloud coming into Northern Ireland the western side of scotland. Clear skies and light wind, so more blue on the chart. The frost will be more widespread overnight and into tomorrow morning. Temperatures could be down to 3 or in those blue areas, so and frosty start to the new week. And probably a dry start to the week as well. That cloud threatens a shower across Northern Ireland and the western isles, cloud coming in off the north sea with one or two showers pecking this coastal areas. 0n the whole it will be dry, areas. 0n the whole it will be dry, a lot of sunshine around. After that chilly start, more cloud for wales in the west country and temperatures up in the west country and temperatures up to nine, ten or 11 celsius with light winds. However, we need to look towards tuesday, because we have got this deep area of low pressure in europe, and that will bring a lot of snow to the alps. It will bring rain to our shores. How much rain and how much it gets into the uk is in doubt at the moment. It looks like it should slide at the eastern side of the uk to give wet and windy weather here. The middle pa rt and windy weather here. The middle part of the week turns quiet again, spookily quiet, you might say, the halloween. Some spells of sunshine but ending the week with strengthening winds, gales and wet weather in the north west. Strengthening winds, gales and wet weather in the northwest. Thank you very much indeed, milder midweek, then. More now on our top story, that Helicopter Crash at Leicester City Football Club. The aircraft belonged to the clubs owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, and the bbc has been told he was on board, but there has been no official confirmation. It came down about an hour after the game against west ham last night. We are joined now by ady dayman, bbc leicester reporter, who was there last night. Thank you forjoining us. Where were you when the crash happened . Good morning. I was sat in the stand, i come to every home game. The helicopter comes in after every game. You hear the rumble as it lands on the Centre Circle before taking off. I saw the helicopter land, i left the stadium, and i went for a pint. When we were in the pub, someone for a pint. When we were in the pub, someone said the helicopter had come into difficulty. After coming back to the stadium, a huge area of the stadium was cordoned off, and towards the top end, towards the away end of the stadium, there was billowing smoke, and the smell that ican billowing smoke, and the smell that i can only describe as after a fireworks display of aviation fuel. Emergency services were on the scene and we were awaiting further information. I imagine after the game, if this was a regular thing, the owner of the club would be there and his fans would be gathering for autographs and waiting for players. It would have been busy. It would have been ever so busy. Families and children waiting for autographs and players after the game. The sense this morning is of utter disbelief. Vichai, the owner, has ploughed millions of pounds into the football clu b millions of pounds into the Football Club and donated millions of pounds to the citys hospitals. These owners who have come into the club and with foreign owners you sometimes wonder whether they are going to make it quick buck or use the Football Club just for profit. To put it into context, these are owners who will put on free sufferings, will put on beers for fa ns sufferings, will put on beers for fans when it is the owners birthdays, mince pies at christmas, transport for away fans, and Everything Else that they do for the club, they are held in such high regard. They are certainly known for being fans of the game, and again are treated, when they are around the ground, autographs, selfies, so certainly there is an outpouring of grief at the king power stadium. And Leicester City won the premier league after starting the season as 5000 to one outsiders. He bought all the players a car each. Can you give usa the players a car each. Can you give us a sense of what the reaction of the fans has been since yesterday . There have been fans just steadily pouring down to the stadium this morning, a shrine has been made up already. There are tears, there are football shirts, this is the darkest day in Leicester Citys history. As you say, in the fairytale season, stadium behind us, the club was in debt. The new owners bought the stadium outright, saved it from being a championship club. It is that fairy tale Winning Premier League season. As a fan, personally, the happiest days and the greatest memories of being a football fan, and this sense of shock and disbelief continues to ripple around leicester. Thank you for speaking to us this morning. You are watching breakfast from bbc news. Time now for a look at the newspapers. Lawyer Funke Abimbola is here to tell us what has caught her eye. We will speak to funke in a minute. Lets look at the front pages. The sunday mirror leads on that Helicopter Crash last night at Leicester City Football Club. Sir philip green has spoken to the mail on sunday about allegations of sexual and racial harassment, which he strenuously denies. He said he indulged in nothing more than banter, and he had suffered the worst week of his life. The sunday times reports on the 11 People Killed by a gunman at a synagogue in pittsburgh, and claims the main suspect has been linked to neo nazi activity online. And the star on sunday wishes the former england and tottenham manager glenn hoddle, a speedy recovery after he fell seriously ill while appearing on bt sport tv on saturday. Thank you for your patience, welcome. What have you picked out from the papers this morning . thought we would start with the appeal to beyonce to part ways with sir philip green, really. There is a real collaboration that, where she launched a clothing line a few years ago. In light of all the harassment claims and so on, and she is very much seen as a claims and so on, and she is very much seen as a womens claims and so on, and she is very much seen as a womens activist, and pro women, and protecting womens writes, it doesnt sit very well with her fans. There writes, it doesnt sit very well with herfans. There is a huge outcry now that she should part ways with sir philip. And he denies the allegations, of course, and other celebrities have collaborated with his brand, topshop. So many well known people in fashion generally he has collaborated with, and they are allegations that this stage, but what to do, really . Lets turn to your next selection, from the observer. This report about nursery funding, and especially the impact of cuts in particular areas. Yes, so at the moment funding is just sort of meted out, and it is means tested. You can be earning quite a lot as a working parent and still get partial funding, and quite a lot as a working parent and still get partialfunding, and can still get partialfunding, and can still privately fund the place. It has a disproportionate impact if you earn less, and often those working families are the ones who need the funding, to be able to work, and it becomes this vicious circle where you cant afford the child you cant work, and you cant get out. You hear from people who weigh up is work, and you cant get out. You hearfrom people who weigh up is it worth me going back to work, because imight not worth me going back to work, because i might not be able to cover the Childcare Costs or earn much above it. Thats right, i rememberwhen i had my son we had to save up quite a lot in advance to cover the childcare. The costs are exorbitant. Lets move on 18 years or so, from the cost of nursery fees to the case in newcastle, and this whole question of fresher initiation rituals, which i guess there is a huge peer pressure for people to be involved in. It is massive, and i actually went to newcastle university, by pure coincidence. I remember what happened in freshers week, and students see this as a rite of passage. Lots of societies do these events, it is a bit of fun, is the way they see it, but so tragic that this young man has lost his life. What i have heard about these things is the extent to which they managed to maintain being a tradition even though a university generation, if you like only last three orfour generation, if you like only last three or four years before there is a complete recycling and a new bunch of students. And yet Something Like this, which is this ingrained outlook, carries on from one generation to the next. There is so much about identity and who you are when you first arrive at university. Lots of students feel they have a lot to prove, and these traditions continue, it would seem. And harry and meghan. I thought it wasjust such a delightful story because theirtrip to such a delightful story because their trip to australia has been a huge success. Yesterday she closed the ceremony by talking about motherhood, very poignant with her being pregnant, and harry proudly looking on at his wife and really happy to see her taking the limelight. Absolutely wonderful. What do you make of the amount of coverage their tour has had . M what do you make of the amount of coverage their tour has had . It has been wonderful, i think we need these stories now. The event itself, invictus games, is a wonderful, laudable event, and it is great to have these stories to lift our spirits, i think. The other thing which is striking, it is not surprising, but it is striking, is how comfortable the duchess is on the public stage, given what she did as an actor beforehand, when you hear her speaking, isnt that sense of oh gosh, she is a public figure, albeit in a very different role. think she rather enjoys it, do you . And the banana bread went down well, she made some on the tour. Just a little fa ct she made some on the tour. Just a little fact for you. I wasnt aware of the banana bread. You heard it here first. Thank you very much. We will be back with you a little bit later. You are watching breakfast from bbc news. Still to come this morning will Lewis Hamilton write his way into the history books later today, and become the third man to win a fifth world title . We are asking what makes him so special, later. Stay with us. Headlines coming up. Hello, this is breakfast, with chris mason and tina daheley. Good morning. Here is a summary of todays main stories from bbc news a helicopter has crashed and burst into flames only minutes after taking off from the grounds of Leicester City Football Club. The bbc has been told that the owner of the club, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was on board, but so far there has been no official confirmation. Fans have been giving their reaction to the news. Well, you know, the investment he has made to the club has been phenomenal. We won the league because of them. The amount they have put into the club but its notjust that, its things theyve done with the community, the things theyve done with the locals, the hospitals, the fans, the free pint on their birthday, the pie at christmas. Well publicised. But theyre just absolutely nice, humble people. Its just such a tragedy. Prosecutors in the United States have charged a man with 29 offences, including hate crimes and murder, in connection with a mass shooting at a synagogue in pittsburgh. Mourners have been holding vigils for the 11 people who died after a gunman opened fire during morning service. Six others were wounded. The suspect has been named as 46 year old Robert Bowers. President trump said it was a wicked act of mass murder, and said he would be visiting the city. The former england and tottenham manager glenn hoddle is responding well to treatment after being taken to hospital in a serious condition yesterday. Hoddle, who won 53 england caps and was celebrating his 61st birthday, is considered to be one of the best players of his generation. He was taken ill after appearing as a pundit for bt sport. The number of hit and run crashes has risen by almost half in the past four years, the bbc has learned. There were more than 28 thousand cases last year in england and wales and road safety campaigners are calling for longer prison sentences. Last year the ministry ofjustice announced life sentences will be introduced for those who cause death by dangerous driving. The chancellor, philip hammond, is to follow through on a promise made by his predecessor George Osborne and for the first time devote the money raised from vehicle tax to major roads across england. More than 25 billion pounds will be made available for motorways and a roads between 2020 and 2025. Therell also be an extra four hundred and twenty million earmarked for repairing potholes in local roads. The duke and duchess of sussex have arrived in new zealand which is the last stop on their 16 day tour. Harry and meghan will visit wellington and auckland over the next four days, where they will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier. The couple, who are expecting their first child, have already visited australia, fiji and tonga on their First Official tour. She might be the oldest person in the world butjulia flores hasnt tired of blowing out her birthday candles just yet. The 118 year old celebrated her birthday with live music, cake and her favourite pasta dish. Ms flores is from bolivia and was thrown a party in her honour at city hall where she was given a certificate recognising her long life. Her family is hoping she will now secure her place in the guinness book of world records. We ta ke we take three things away from that, music, cake and pastor. It could be our lot worst. Pasta. Could be a lot worse. Is hard to talk about sport without reflecting on what a horrific day at leicester. People were already expressing their concern for this man, glenn hoddle. I cant tell you that the former england and he took ill. The former england and tottenham manager is said to be responding well to specialist treatment after being taken to hospital after falling seriously ill. He was with the broadcaster bt sport when he collapsed they cancelled their saturday Afternoon Programme that hoddle was due to appear on. A spokesperson said his condition is serious, but he is recieving specialist treatment and his family are with him. Hoddle is considered one of the best players of his generation winning 53 caps for england before turning to management. He was a schoolboy at tottenham when i was there and he was the player, he was the star player that we all looked up to and could never get near and i of course worked with him when he was manager, worked under him when he was manager, as one of his coaches. So certainly my thoughts are with him and prayers are with him but he has a strong character, glenn, and im sure that he will battle through it. Liverpool are top of the premier league until monday night at least. They beat cardiff 4 1 at Anfield Mo Salah with a man of the match performance, opening the scoring, setting up Xherdan Shaqiris first goal since joining in the summer, and sadio manes second finishing things off. That result now matches liverpools best ever start to a premier league season. Yes conceding goals isnt nice but today, it was kind of the right game because it woke us up. Us and the opponent gave us space so then we could finish the game off and so im fine. And youve got a clear week, finally, on top of the league . For 24 hours, at least. laughs in my whole life, ive always wanted to be top of the league for 2h hours, so, thats not too decisive but the 26 points are really good. How fulham would love 2a hours at the top of the table. They slipped to their fourth defeat in a row beaten 3 0 by bournmouth. Striker Callum Wilson with a couple of the goals. Fulham are now the only side in the premier league to have conceeded in every league game this season. Theyre not at the bottom of the table though, thats huddersfield. They lost 3 0 to watford. This was the second goal of the match, scored by gerard deulofeu. It means David Wagners side are still without a win this season, and have only won one of their last 20 premier league matches. Get ready for a horrible miss. This is hamiltons James Keatings in the scottish premiership, that would have been a winner for his side over kilmarnock. Instead, it finished 1 all enough to move kilmarnock up to second in the league. Elsewhere stjohnstone beat st mirren 2 0. Its a hard one to watch. We had to play it twice just to really embarrass him. Lewis hamilton will etch his name into formula one history today, if he secures his fifth world title. He only has to finish seventh at the Mexican Grand Prix to do it, and move to joint second in the all time list of winners. Lets say good morning to formula one analyst tonyjardine. Thank you forjoining us. He has to finish in seventh place but knowing Lewis Hamilton, that is not what he will be going for . Is going to be very exciting as well because there isa very exciting as well because there is a long rundown to the first corner with the two red bulls in front of him and alongside and just behind him on the grid is Sebastian Vettel commerce championship rival, who must win today. I dont think there is going to be too much rope trepidation on lewis part because the red bulls are going to try to stay ahead but the long drag is going to be very exciting and if you remember the last grand prix in the usa, he gave a lot of room to Max Verstappen and that was quite good, very mature, to do that. Ultimately, that meant he didnt win the title in the usa. It is put him ina very the title in the usa. It is put him in a very exclusive club. There are already comparisons we made with the likes of schumacher. Is it too early to say he could be one of the greatest ever . I dont think its too early to say. 91 when sir Michael Schumacher, 71 wins for Lewis Hamilton. In terms of his greatness, myself, ialready Lewis Hamilton. In terms of his greatness, myself, i already compare him,jim clarkfrom greatness, myself, i already compare him, jim clark from the number one. Hamilton already number three as far as im concerned. Its notjust the result is his very special talent. Since he was an 80 roald and the boss of mclaren 80 year old and went up to the boss of mclaren and saidi went up to the boss of mclaren and said i want to drive for you. The car wasnt working earlier in the year, he had a torrid time will stop he has turned it around with incredible skill and determination. It is chris here, putting up on that point, i think you can put him in a broader spectrum amongst the greatest british sports people of all time, transcending formula 1. Yes, thats absolutely right. Bbc sports review personality of the year, when looking forward to that. We are looking forward to that. There is no question. A fifth world title, its only human fangio and Michael Schumacher it is only human, fangio and Michael Schumacher that would have achieved that. It is the british teams as well that a propelling him there. Although mercedes, they are made in the uk, their Engine Department is over here, that whole racing industry is worth 9 billion to this country alone. Its all that power behind the sport and mercedes have done a fabulousjob so the sport and mercedes have done a fabulous job so far in mexico. They could wrap up the world constructors title as well, backing up lewis title as well, backing up lewis title as well, backing up lewis title as well. Bringing things back toa title as well. Bringing things back to a practical level, if its weight in mexico city, how is he going to get on . I think he will get on well, well enough to get inside the seventh position. If you look back to germany earlier this year, lewis started from 14th on the grid. The rain came in the last quarter of the race. Sebastian vettel who has made a lot of mistakes this year, as hath ferraris, got slower and slower and Lewis Hamilton got faster and faster. As have ferraris will as have ferrari. It is going to be an exciting one. You can listen to coverage of the Mexican Grand Prix on 5live this evening from 6 30, the race starts at 7 10. You will of course the remember the thai Football Team the wild boars who had to be rescued from an underground cave after becoming trapped there for 18 days. Well, the team have come to manchester to meet one of their heroes. The group of 12 boys and their coach paid a visit to Manchester Uniteds training grounds where they were greeted by managerjose mourinho. The club extended the invitation after hearing about their ordeal earlier this year. Its understood the team will watch united take on everton later from the directors box at old trafford. Brilliant pictures to watch that. Isnt that amazing . You can see it in theirfaces, isnt that amazing . You can see it in their faces, that sense of awe. They are absolutely ghastly with excitement and to see jose they are absolutely ghastly with excitement and to seejose mourinho smiling as well is pretty special absolutely gasping. A 60th birthday is a big milestone and when Shirley Thompson hit it, she decided to set herself a challenge. Shes aiming to row solo and unsupported across the atlantic ocean. If she succeeds, shell be the oldest woman ever to cross any ocean solo and given that she learned how to row and swim just months ago it really will be an achievement. Hugh schofield joined her for her first Training Session at sea. Dawn over the bay of cannes and an ulster woman is already out and at the oars. Just a few weeks before her big adventure, Shirley Thompson needs all the training she can get. Until earlier this year, shed never once been inside a row boat. Sea dog, she aint. So why on earth is this 60 year old woman about to take on 3000 miles of unforgiving ocean . Im 60 years old and im going for two records. Im doing this because i want to so any of my fears, im trying to put to the back of my mind and i will deal with everything, i hope i have a strategy for things, and i will deal with everything when i encounter it. But the fear is almost part of the pleasure. You know, i want to have this challenge so im looking forward to enjoying all the good bits and all the less good bits because its part of the journey. We are into gmt wintertime, call it what you will, the clocks have moved on the weather is moving in a chilly direction as well. It is, good morning. 0ur weather watchers are out early to watch the sunrise. It will be a cold day, sunshine and showers. 0ne will be a cold day, sunshine and showers. One part of the country which will see quite a few will be cla cton which will see quite a few will be clacton on sea in essex. The wind direction has changed today, rather than coming in from the arctic it is coming in from the north sea, and this is where we will find most of the showers getting dragon as well. This is the radar picture over the past few hours, you can see where we have most of the showers, most of them of rain. A clump of heavy showers and thicker cloud affecting east anglia and the south east of the next few hours. We will continue this stream of showers in the extreme south east for most of the day. 0therwise extreme south east for most of the day. Otherwise we will see the cloud breaking, a scattering of showers down the eastern side of the uk, a few getting as far as the midlands. Wales, Northern Ireland, much of scotla nd wales, Northern Ireland, much of scotland and north east england should be dry and sunny and the north east will not be as windy, so not as cold. The stronger winds streaming and showers towards the south east of england, where temperatures may get into double figures. It wont feel as warm as that, temperatures eight to 10 celsius this afternoon. Those numbers will fall quickly during the evening. As sky is clear and winds dropped, showers running into coastal parts of scotland and eastern england. We will also see a bit of cloud coming into Northern Ireland and the western isles. Ahead of that, clearer skies, ireland and the western isles. Ahead of that, clearerskies, Light Ireland and the western isles. Ahead of that, clearer skies, light winds and more blue on the chart. Frosts more widespread and it could be a bit harsh as well. Temperatures down to 3 or i on monday morning in some places. A chilly start to the new week. On the whole, monday should be a dry day, with some sunshine and maybe some mist and fog across parts of wales. The west country will gobble up some cloud through the day and one or two light showers in eastern coastal areas. 0n the whole it will be dry elsewhere. Spells of sunshine, temperatures very similar to those of today, so nine, ten or 11 celsius. Still quite chilly for this time of year. Things get really interesting as we head into tuesday. A nasty area of low pressure bringing a lot of snow to the alps, strong winds into scandinavia and we are on the edge of all that excitement. It looks like we could get some rain sliding up like we could get some rain sliding up the eastern side of the uk. Some uncertainty as to whether rain will come to a halt. It pushes away and around the middle part of the week, with more of a south westerly breeze, it wont be feeling quite as cold. We should get some sunshine and a few showers. We end the with some windy weather, dale is quite widely and some wet weather in the north west. Now on breakfast, its time for the travel show. This week on the travel show, im in norway, because i have heard of what must be one of the worlds most unique music festivals, where the stage and even the instruments are made of ice. So i am taking the chance to head off from oslo to bergen on a musical journey along one of the worlds most spectacular railways. Joining me for the first part of myjourney is jan 0stlund, an all round train fanatic and author of a book on the bergensbanen train line. So tell me a bit about this book. Why did you write a book about the bergensbanen railway . The bergensbanen is an iconic railway in norway, but also in europe i think. Very many people in norway have been there, they know the name, and they know what they will see when they are going here. Along its 308 miles, the train navigates challenging but stunning terrain. At its peak of over 1,200 metres, it is one of europes highest railways, before it descends steeply into norways second city of bergen. But this elemental landscape posed a huge challenge and an engineering triumph for those working on the rail during its construction between 1894 and 1909, with around 20 people thought to have died in the process. At a time when norways independence was on the horizon, the construction of the bergensbanen was much more than just an added convenience of travellers. This line connected the east and the western part of norway. And at that time we were administrated by sweden and they did not like this at all, because i think they thought it could be used to military purpose. This was a sign of norwegian strength, that maybe was not approved of . You could say that. So in a way this is a symbol for the founding of the norwegian nation . Yeah. All this makes it special. You cant find this on the other lines. This is what norway is. As jan reaches his stop, i settle in. 3. 5 hours from 0slo, the bergensbanen pulls into geilo, but that is not my destination. For the last 13 years, geilo has played host to norways ice music festival, but this year after too many unseasonably wa ram years, the organisers decided that enough was enough. So on i go, upwards almost 500m in altitude, to the festivals new home in finse. So why ice . What inspired this festival . Well, its nearly 20 years since the first time i tried ice, and i found the sound so fantastically beautiful. What is this instrument over here . This is an iceophone. The sound is lovely, isnt it . You like it . Yeah. Plays iceophone. It is lovely. Any chance i could have a go . Mmm, very carefully. Very careful, i promise ill be careful. I also promise to show no ability whatsoever. You may as well give it to a kid. Plays iceophone. It works this is great. So as evening approaches the finishing touches are fast being made around the site. I really like it cause its kind of the sound of nature. So it doesnt sound like anything else you have ever heard. We dont get to practice, so the music gets made on stage in front of the audience, and that is really special, and people are like, what, is that possible . Its almost not possible, so its pretty cool that we can do it. I guess theres a lot of folk music in it. Its very nordic, with the ice and snow and the cold winters. Just in the nick of time, all is ready and we gather for an evening of ice music. Singing and music. Cheering and applause. That was amazing. It was such a bonkers soundscape, and incredible to think that all of those strange sounds that were building into this big crescendo were made from ice. I think it is also a really interesting way to experience the landscape of norway, freezing cold with the full moon overhead. Having said that, it is freezing cold. Im frozen through. Its time to head in. Next morning, the festival continues without me, as i am back on the bergensbanen for the next part of myjourney. Travelling on this stretch of the line, you start to appreciate the vast landscapes that this country has to offer. And i cant imagine a better way of experiencing them than this. Well, my train has arrived at its destination. But my musicaljourney across norway is not finished yet, because i am in bergen, a cultural hotspot and a great place to explore norways rich musical heritage. Dance company frikar perform contemporary dance all around norway and beyond, thats inspired by nature and traditional norwegian folk roots. They have agreed to come and show me some of the traditional elements found in norways halling dance. Fiddles play. The dance, its mostly sort of a show off dance. 100 years ago women also did that dance, but its mostly boys, or men, doing the dance, because we want to impress the other men or other women. Put the right foot in front of the left. Sidewards. Believe me, this is harder than it looks. If you jump a bit on each step. Nice, and then around. I think im getting the hang of it. One, two. Then we can move down here. No so, what is the relationship between the dance and the music . Maria played the hardangerfiddle, it is our national instrument. Some people say the fiddle music came because of the dance, and some say the other way. I think they are depending on each other. But in the 1800s, the military started with competitions, kicking a hat from a stick, and it was about kicking the highest. And then it became incorporated in the halling, the folk dance. So we do it as a part of the dance, and it is of course, it has to be a good kick. And the higher it is, the better it is. Everybody in norway, i think, if i say halling, they say, kicking the hat. Its the main goal in the halling. Its more like the dance is the main goal, kicking the hat is sort of topping it. Fiddle plays. Whoo that was good kicking. Ifeel like ive rediscovered this place through its music. Its a country constantly inspired by nature, of epic proportions. It treasures its traditions, but isnt afraid of looking forward, where artists are free to experiment and are supported as a crucial part of norwegian society. And where distinctive sounds can be found in the smallest of communities. If the bergensbanen showed me norways muscle, its music has shown its heart and soul. Good morning welcome to breakfast with chris mason and tina daheley. 0ur headlines today. A helicopter has crashed only minutes after taking off from Leicester Citys Football Ground a source has told the bbc the owner of the club was on board. I thought it was a great day, you know, um, and then its ended up as probably the darkest day in Leicester City Football Clubs history. A vigil is held for the victims of a mass shooting at a synagogue in pittsburgh a suspect hs been charged
