Well be looking back at the anniversary celebrations. And, jammed up . A Study Suggests drivers in the uk wasted more than 30 hours in rush hour traffic last year. Thats all ahead on bbc news. Now on bbc news, its time for sportsday. Hello, and welcome to sportsday. Imjohn watson. Im john watson. These are our headlines tonight. Amid growing pressure, chelsea say they are standing by manager Antonio Conte. The magic of the cup. Can not counted cause an upset at premier League Swansea tonight . Well be looking ahead. And, dying for his sport. How a crash brought on a stroke that almost cost bobsleigher bruce task his life. I thought id seen these signs before on a television, what to look out for and so television, what to look out for and so on, ijust never thought it would happen to me at such a young age. Welcome along. Back to back league defeats, chelsea look a shadow of the side that Antonio Conte led to the title last season. But the champions will not be sacking the italian, with the club still in the top four and fighting for silverware in the fa cup and the champions league. Defeat to watford last night and a 3 0 loss to bournemouth last week increasing the speculation over contes future. Im not worried. Im not worried about myjob. I work every day and i give 120 . If this is enough, its ok. Otherwise, the club can take a different decision. But im not worried. Every day, every press conference, you ask me, are you worried about yourjob . No, im not worried. Antonio conte pretty adamant that hisjob is safe. Vaishali bhardwaj is from the evening standard. Vaishali, the speculation over his future has been there ever since chelseas defeat to burnley on the opening day of the season. Why has that speculation remained . think it really started off when, you know, you signed the new deal at chelsea after winning the premier league title. Crucially, he didnt actually extend his stay really at chelsea, it was just basically a new deal with a much bigger pay packet. Since then, theres been rumours that, you know, he could maybe be thinking about not staying for the full, you know, the full duration of his contract. And of course hes been talking a lot, in lots of press conferences this season, about the fact that hes not happy with the depth and quality of his squad. That has kind of lead to continuous reports, really, that maybe hes not entirely 100 happy at the club. Historically, chelsea dont stand by their managers. Jose mourinho and Carlo Ancellotti are two examples. Why should we believe them this time . The crucial thing in this aspect and in terms of chelseas situation at the moment, yes, they have lost two premier league games in a row, but they are still in the top four, one point ahead of this place tottenham. Generally speaking, they tend to sack managers when they are the top four spot looking in jeopardy, its not happening just yet. However, the pressure is intensifying an conte ahead of the crucial game against west brom at Stamford Bridge on monday. Tough matches to come. West brom in the league, hull in the cup, barcelona in the champions league, mancheseter united in the league. If further defeats come, will he last that run . You know, if they begin to slip out of the top four spots, and they could slip down the table, i do think that chelsea may make a decision like sacking conte. I think the general feeling is that they wa nt the general feeling is that they want him to stay until the end of the season because theres not a lot of options in terms of who can come in and replace him even that they have got a tough fixture list coming up. At the moment, i think hisjob is safe. How crucial has the tra nsfer is safe. How crucial has the transfer policy being . It appears he has been pushing the board, he hasnt got the players in that he wanted. You look at the likes of danny drinkwater, 0livier giroud, ross barkley, not the elite that you so ross barkley, not the elite that you so often expect chelsea design. Has that frustrated him . Absolutely. He gave the club a list last summer, and some of the targets he had got, morata was one, supper costa was another, and a left wingback role, he felt that he was left short on the pitch, in the squad, he didnt have the quality to be able to call upon reinforcements when things were not going right. That is something that has frustrated him, he feels chelsea havent necessarily laid down for sums of money that the premier league rivals like Manchester United and Manchester City have laid down to get the target that guardiola and by really wanted. That certainly frustrated him. Buti wanted. That certainly frustrated him. But i do think that chelsea tried their best to get some of his targets, and they have landed some of them, but its just not been enough for conte this season. Its a dangerous game hes playing, by pushing the chelsea board, testing them in this way. Absolutely. He came out the other day and said that he wants the chelsea board to release a statement publicly backing him. They did that withjose mourinho in 2016 and still sacked him two months later. The general feeling is that, you know, the chelsea board will not release a statement to back him, and maybe contes time at chelsea is coming to an end. Vaishali, many thanks for joining us on sportsday tonight. Fascinating to get her thoughts there. As we know, there are several fa cup fourth round replay is taking place tonight. Plenty to bring you, including. Manchester united remember those died in te munich air disaster. With the Winter Olympics beginning this week, those competing in the bobsleigh need no reminding of the dangers. But for british athlete bruce tasker, hes become acutely aware, after a crash brought on a stroke which has not only cost him his place at pyongchang, but almost cost him his life. Nick hopes been along to meet him. I had a stroke that was caused by a vertebral artery dissection, which is trauma caused to an artery which feeds the brain. Id just got back home from walking the dog. I was sat actually here at the end of the days training, and it turned into a clot in my cerebellum. The first symptom was just extreme nausea, the room wasjust spinning. The first scary part was when my arm was tingling and speech was becoming more difficult. I thought, ive seen these signs before on television, i know what to look out for, etc. Ijust never quite believed that it would happen to me at such a young age. Because of the duration of the nausea, i did actually vomit quite heavily, which is not nice, but i do think it got me more seen to more quickly in the a e department. My symptoms cleared quite quickly. And after a couple of days i was completely symptom free. Yeah, as i say, i was lucky that there was no damage caused and that the clot didnt mess around too much. Do you know what caused it yet . Yes, weve got a very good idea. We know that it was caused by a vertebral artery dissection, which is damage to the artery that feeds the brain. The cause of that, the likelihood is due to a bobsleigh crash. You know, what we put our bodies through is stressful. You know, bobsleigh can be dangerous. Most of the time it isnt, but itjust shows that every now and then it can be. You know, ijust rode my luck too much. But the good thing is, there is no underlying cause in terms of health considerations. Ive had my heart checked out. You know, as far as im concerned, theres no risk of this happening again. Did you ever think when you were going through that, hang on, i might have to take a step back . Or was it always a single focus, i want to be back . Theres no health dangerfor me now. Im fit to resume. As soon as theyll let you yeah, as soon as theyll let me, basically, im chomping at the bit to get back. Well see what the next cycle sort of holds for us. Im pleased to see it is not the end of his career. We will be keeping you up to date across the winter 0lympics you up to date across the Winter Olympics in pyeongchang in what gb will be hoping is their most successful 0lympic will be hoping is their most successful Olympic Games to date. Lets ta ke successful Olympic Games to date. Lets take you to the Liberty Stadium, when notts county are waiting for swansea tonight. Dion dublin is there. 1 1 from the opening match, notts county fully deserving of their place in the draw, hoping to book their place in the fifth round. As we know, swa nsea, the fifth round. As we know, swansea, its fair to say, have attentions elsewhere as they look to avoid relegation from the premier league. Yes, they are going about it in the right way, swansea looking strong at the moment. Unfortunately, leroy fer is not that until the end of the season, they have lost two key players. But im pretty sure kevin nolans brought a notts county side here that are going to have a proper good go. Swansea have got to be on the ball. Ameobi and jon stead in attack, they have a combined age of 70 402 your maths is better than my you talk about Wilfried Bony being out, he hasnt been with the goals so far this season, notts cou nty the goals so far this season, notts county fancying their chances . He hasnt been the player that i expect him to be from yesteryear. But, yes, they are old has been is, 34 and 36, they are old has been is, 34 and 36, the two forwards for notts county. But they know where the goal is. If they get served and the crosses are in the box, i cant see the two big Centre Forwards for notts county to relish a chance like this against premier league opposition. Swansea should win the game because they have got better individual players, but of notts county to come here and roll their sleeves up, as the underdog they have every chance of winning the game. Carlos carvalhal would never have predicted that he would never have predicted that he would be returning to face Sheffield Wednesday so soon, he was sacked by the Championship Club, appointed by swa nsea, the Championship Club, appointed by swansea, and now he could take on his former club in the next round of the fa cup. Yes, its a difficult one. Hes probably thinking to himself, i want to get through this one, but, wow, this is going to be some game in the next round. Hell be thinking, big herbal heel. Hes got to get through this. I think they will, but it will be a really ha rd they will, but it will be a really hard game big hurdle here. Hopefully we will have goals tonight. Thats what we hope. The volume being turned up at the Liberty Stadium. You can hear it that game is live on bbc one tonight at eight 5p. Dion, thanks for that. Ata at eight 5p. Dion, thanks for that. At a two 5pm. Britains fed cup team are in estonia this week in a bid to take us into the world group. The team is spearhead by british number one johanna konta, who of course last year became the first british woman to reach a wimbledon semi final since 1979. Since then, shes faced some injury problems, but the fed cup could be her chance to get 2018 back on track. Holly hamilton reports. Shes enjoyed a spectacular rise to stardom in the past few years, becoming the first british woman since Virginia Wade to crack into the elite of the womens game. But, a year in tennis can feel like a long time. Johanna kontas early season has been hampered by injury, but now, with fed cup in estonia about to get under way, she says shes ready to return to her winning ways. Im healthy, im playing, and i think that with time i will be playing at a level that i want to be playing at a level that i want to be playing at. Fed cup is a great opportunity for me to play a lot of matches in a different setting than we usually get during the season, its a team setting, a team environment, which is really exciting. We get to bond and have fun in the evenings, and, most importantly, support each other on the sidelines. The british number one spearheads this years squad, aiming to start this years competition with a bang. Katie boulter is the teams newest and youngest member, at just boulter is the teams newest and youngest member, atjust 21 years old she wasnt even born the last time Great Britain made it to the world group stage. Is she feeling confident . Yes, i think we have got a really strong team and a great chance. Everyones playing really well at the moment. Lets see what well at the moment. Lets see what we can do. Being part of a team event is really nice. Tennis is such an individual sport. So im happy to be back with a kit on. Until now, the profile of the womens Team Competition has always been significantly lower than the mens davis cup, not helped by their failure to get out of the dreaded europe africas own. Failure to get out of the dreaded europe africas own. I would love to see the former change and have fed cup come into line with the davis cup, structured in a way that fa ns davis cup, structured in a way that fans can davis cup, structured in a way that fa ns ca n follow davis cup, structured in a way that fans can follow better and really engage with the team. Hopefully one day we might get that. The team face estonia and portugal in the first round robin matches this week, with a place in the world group at stake. But something tells me theyll do a betterjob but something tells me theyll do a better job without but something tells me theyll do a betterjob without me there studio you never know, i thought holly was pretty handy with a racket good luck with them in that tie. It was a disaster which not only shaped the history of a club, but arguably shaped the history of a city, 23 people lost their lives in the munich air disaster when a plane carrying the Manchester United team home from a european match in belgrade crashed. Sir Bobby Charlton was one of the survivors pulled from the wreckage and was at a ceremony at old trafford today to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the crash. Vince hunt is from Manchester Metropolitan University and is organising an event at the university tomorrow to mark the disaster. Vince, thanks forjoining us. We will talk about how it shaped the city in a moment, but first, just of the ceremony at old trafford today, very poignant. It was. If they could get more poignant, they do get more poignant, particularly with Bobby Charlton. He is such a gracious man. And he feels it is so deeply. Its almost painful to see how he carries it on his sleeve, isnt it . And he is of course only one of two survivors, two of the players that are still alive today from that crash. Yes, its a very big deal. And especially the 60th. I think were and especially the 60th. I think we re really and especially the 60th. I think were really commemorating the last time that were going to be able to hear from the people who were there. And how did it affect the city of manchester at the time . And how has it shaped the city since . Cast your mind back to the days before social media, instant news. People were hanging their washing out and neighbours would run across and tell them theyd heard on the radio that them theyd heard on the radio that the plane had gone down. People were waiting for the latest editions of the newspapers to come out. It hit manchester like a shock wave and it kept on rolling, because remember Duncan Edwards was critically ill for two weeks and then died. And these things just kept hitting the city. And not onlyjust the players, but also the newspaper reporters we re but also the newspaper reporters were much loved figures as well. And the commemorations, the funerals for the commemorations, the funerals for the reporters. People were eight deep lining the streets of manchester. As we know, there were journalists on the plane as well alongside the Manchester United players. 0bviously incredibly hard for the families and those who lost their lives, but equally as hard in many ways for those who had to carry on, especially the players, who had to turn out for the club in the end. Can you imagine pulling on that red shirt for the first time after the munich disaster, when you lost your team mates, your friends, a munich disaster, when you lost your team mates, yourfriends, a whole group of young lads who had just won the league title twice in two years and were tipped for a third. It mustve been unbelievably hard for quys mustve been unbelievably hard for guys who were just lads to run out and carry on playing football, when something as disastrous as this had just happened. Absolutely. As we know, vince, you are leading tributes that are being paid at Manchester Metropolitan University for tomorrow. Vince hunt, many thanks for coming in and reflecting on that disaster. We will finished tonights programme with a poem read by harry gregg he and Bobby Charlton are the last remaining players to
