RESUMES DESPITE SOME BIG CHANGES. ♪ JARED ZELLER: LOOK, WE’VE BEEN SITTING IN OUR HOUSES. WE’VE BEEN ENJOYING THE OUTDOORS. I THINK IT’S TIME TO GET BACK TO LIVE MUSIC. CHAD: BAYOU BOOGALOO IS BACK, BUT WITH A NEW LOOK AND CHANGE OF VENUE THIS WEEKEND. THE POPULAR MID-CITY FESTIVAL WILL BE A TICKETED, MULTI-DAY EVENT, TAKING ON A NEW MONIKER, BOOGALOO IN EXILE. JARED ZELLER: OBVIOUSLY WE’RE NOT GOING TO BE ON THE BAYOU. I DON’T THINK THE CITY IS READY FOR LARGE SCALE EVENTS. SO WE DECIDED TO PARTNER WITH SOME LOCAL VENUES. ONE OF THEM BEING THE BROADSID THEATER, WHO HAS BEEN HOSTING LOCAL, OUTDOOR EVENTS. CHAD: PARTICIPATING BANDS LIKE TETRAD ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE BOOGALOO’S RETURN, ALONG WITH THAT SENSE OF NORMALCY. ANGELAMIA BACHEMIN: THIS IS HUGE, IT JUST HAS THAT FEELING THAT WE’RE COMING HOME. THAT WE’RE BACK IN STYLE AGAIN AND EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK. JARED ZELLER: WE GOT SOME GREA LOCAL MUSIC, GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING ARTISTS, CHA WA, WHO JUST GOT A GRAMMY NOMINATION, TANK AND THE BANGAS, SO WE GOT GREAT PROGRAMMING BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, WE ARE ALSO GOING TO HAVE AN ART MARKET, WHICH IS PART OF THE BAYOU BOOGALOO EXPERIENCE, SO WE’RE TAKING THE ART, FOOD AND MUSIC, OUR MAJOR PROGRAMMING COMPONENTS, MOVING IT TO NORTH BROAD FOR 2021 CHAD: TICKETS ARE SELLING OUT, BUT THERE’S STILL A WAY TO ATTEND WHILE HELPING THE ONGOING PRESERVATION EFFORTS. JARED ZELLER: WE HAVE A LITT FLEXIBILITY IF YOU BECOME A MEMBER OF FRIENDS OF BAYOU ST. JOHN. GO TO OUR WEBSITE, BAYOUSTJOHN.ORG, BECOME A MEMBER AT A LOW LEVEL, AND THEN YOU WILL GET A CODE TO BUY A TICKET, SO WE HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL TICKETS TO RELEASE TO THE PUBL IF YOU BECOME A MEMBER. CHAD: AND LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT YEAR, BOOGALOO’S PLANNED RETURN TO THE BAYOU CAN’T COME SOON ENOUGH FOR SOME. ANGIE: WHEN WE COME BACK TO THIS BEAUTIFUL BAYOU, THAT’S GOING TO BE SO BIG FOR EVERYONE BECAUSE THERE’S NOTHING LIKE THE CHILLED VIBE OF THE BAYOU, THE COMMUNITY. EVERYONE COMING TOGETHER, THE WAY THAT THIS FESTIVAL HAS BEEN HOSTED FOR YEARS FOR ALL OF THE MUSICIANS THAT PLAY IN THIS FESTIVAL, THEY GET PAID EVEN THOUGH THE FESTIVAL DOES NOT CHARGE ANYTHING. THAT IS SO IMPORTANT. IT JUST FEELS LIKE WE KNOW THAT THIS IS A GOOD FESTIVAL, IT’S ABOUT US, IT’S ABOUT THE MUSIC, IT’S ABOUT THE COMMUNIT
