Back in the Day: Chapter in George Martin’s book highlights time in Fairfield

I wrote a two-part column in 2016 on Super Bowl champion and Armijo Class of 1971 grad George Martin that gave an overview of his accomplishments and life.
I mentioned his 2014 book,
“Just Around the Bend-My Journey for 9/11,” which chronicled his remarkable fundraising walk of more 3,000 miles – from New York City to San Diego – from September 2007 to March 2008.
The majority of the book obviously focuses on Martin’s quest and it is enjoyable and enlightening to read. He also focuses on his 14-year football career and all of the numerous wonderful projects that he has been a part of that have made the planet a better place for so many.
