LOVES PARK — Deshon Hudson spent his Saturday morning picking up trash strewn across a vacant lot adjacent to Peak Sports Club off Perryville Road. The 10-year-old Cherry Valley Elementary School student deployed a litter grabber to collect assorted discarded items and then placed them into a bright yellow trash bag. “It’s a lot of food, lids, straws and a bunch of paper,” Hudson said. “I just came out here to help. This world is a beautiful place, and it needs to stay beautiful.” Hudson and his friends Aidyn Walston, 11, and Isaiah Taylor, 7, were among the 1,100 people who took part in the local observance of the annual Great American Cleanup, which is held each spring in conjunction with Earth Day.
