Back in April, before things went south for the South, the boroughs that make up New York City were in a world of trouble with COVID. Overrun hospitals were begging for outside help and New Bern’s Dr. David Maybee answered the call.
Maybee is a pulmonologist and critical care doctor working with Coastal Carolina Health Care. When he heard through the American College of Chest Physicians that the Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens was in desperate need of help in caring for an avalanche of COVID patients that were pouring in, “I didn’t want to leave New Bern in a lurch,” he recalled.
