Are you looking to find ways to be more effective in your current job or to prepare yourself for career advancement and new business opportunities? Cameron School of Business’ Swain Center Project Management Course is a great place to start.

Project management has become critical in the success and competitiveness of public and private sector companies. Enterprises achieve their goals through projects and effective project management. In addition, the increasing complexity of work and demands for “more with less” place special demands on the project manager and need for a project-based approach.
UNCW’s Project Management Certificate Course focuses on:

Project leadership
Communication
Team building
Conflict resolution
Negotiation
Cost and budget
Measuring performance
Change management

This program provides the opportunity to learn the advanced aspects of project management by focusing on managing projects and your role as a project manager and leader. You will learn how to better prepare project schedules and develop project measures and advanced approaches to project control. You will also learn how to develop, lead, and motivate project teams, and manage project risk, budgets, and financial constraints.

Upon completing the Project Management course, you will receive a UNCW Certificate in Project Management, helping you be more effective in your current management position and prepare you for career advancement and new business opportunities.

Completing this program will also provide continuing education credits for select organizations and counts towards the Project Management Professional certification exam requirements by the Project Management Institute.

The course is taught by Dr. Drew Rosen. He was the 2002 International President and CEO of APICS. Fortune 500 companies have sought his advice on logistics and project management in the United States and Europe. He has taught both operations and project management courses to organizations in the United States, Germany, and France. Dr. Rosen creates an approach to teaching that balances learning from both a theoretical and practical perspective allowing attendees to adapt the knowledge to their needs and working environment with clear and relevant learning application.

This is a fully online course with live webinars every Monday and Wednesday. Webinars will be recorded and available for later viewing for 30 hours of live instruction. It includes 35 hours of instructional time and qualifies for PMP and CAPM educational requirements.

The course fee includes PMP exam prep textbook by Rita Mulcahy, workbook with course slides and handouts, access to online readings through Canvas, and the Project Management certificate.

“There is more about project management than you think. This course opens your eyes to strategies and protocols to help you be more efficient in any major or minor project,” said a former course participant.

“The project management course has given me the skills necessary to manage all of the activities that go into conducting a successful election. I learned how important it is to track what happens in one election in order to prepare for future elections. Taking this course will make me a better Elections Director,” said Sara Knotts, Director, Brunswick County Board of Elections.
