Another COVID-19 death reported for Vance County

HENDERSON — Another Vance County resident has died of COVID-19, even as more doses of the two vaccines that could slow the spread of the viral infection trickle into the area.
Granville-Vance Public Health officials said the latest victim, a 56-year-old woman, died on Dec. 21 at Duke University Hospital. She was the 67th resident of Vance County to die because of the coronavirus so far in the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Maria Parham Health CEO Bert Beard said his hospital received an allotment of the Moderna vaccine — one of two the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved on an emergency basis — on Tuesday.
