Andrea Waner secures victory in Columbia's Second Ward council race Andrea Waner fended off challengers Jim Meyer and Bill Weitkemper on Tuesday to win her first term as the Columbia City Council’s Second Ward representative. Waner received 52.2% of votes, outgaining Meyer by 287 votes. Weitkemper finished in a distant third with 195 total votes. Waner, chair of the city's Human Rights Commission, replaces Mike Trapp after he didn’t seek reelection following nine years at City Hall. Trapp’s most recent win was in 2018. Absentee voting left Waner with a narrow 67-51 lead over Meyer, and that margin remained relatively constant throughout the election results.
