James Meikle from Arlington, Virginia, USA, contacted the Advertiser regarding the mysterious stone marked ‘John M Meiklem Kelty 830217 and he would love to know its purpose given the similarity with his surname.
He said: “I can’t find anything on it, so I’m curious if your newspaper’s readers might have something on it?
"No great motive beyond pure curiosity and historic interest – we already visited the fabulous Chapel there a few years back.”
