Allison Janney-Led Sitcom Mom Officially Ending With Season 8
CBS has announced that they’ve officially decided not to give their long-running sitcom
Mom a ninth season renewal. This comes five months after lead star Anna Faris’ surprising exit as Christy Plunkett just before the current eighth season had premiered. The Allison Janey-led series is currently scheduled to conclude its eighth season-run on May 6, 2021.
“For the past eight years, we’ve had the great honor to bring these wonderful characters to life, sharing their struggles and triumphs with millions of viewers every week,” executive producers Chuck Lorre, Gemma Baker and Nick Bakay said in a statement (via The Wrap).
