Kingsmill producer Allied Bakeries is set to donate 1,000 loaves per day to those in need in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
The team at Allied’s Stockport bakery are ramping up donations through its partnership with redistribution charity FareShare.
Demand for food has skyrocketed, particularly among frontline organisations providing food to children and their families, FareShare said.
The donations are in addition to the 1,500 loaves per week that go to Stockport Council’s food donations programme, and over 1,000 that go direct to local food banks and charities, including Helping Hands Care Home in Warrington and Wythenshawe Food Bank.
