japan's governing party's election putting him on the path to becoming the new prime minister. and his aid starts to come into sudan we'll look at the staggering economic impact of flooding there. and i'm leah harding with all your sports news austria's world number 3 dominic team is the 1st new male grand slam singles champion in 6 years. we begin this news with the latest developments from belarus where its leader is seeking help from longtime ally russia alexander lukashenko is in the russian city of sochi for talks with the president vladimir putin because shanker has faced 5 weeks of demonstrations against his reelection moscow has confirmed that sending law enforcement officers. on the ground in belarus the security forces have been arresting hundreds of protesters mostly women but sanctions of not stop the rallies calling for her to resign the united nations high commissioner for human rights is calling for an investigation restart fish and social peace in the roof requires far reaching dialogue reforms and accountability for great human rights violations i encourage the council to focus and action on this 3 areas to prevent further escalation of violence grievances even the scale a number or allegations of torture or now the forms of treatment by the security forces should be documented and investigated with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice. well we have correspondents covering the developments from both russia and belarus step vastness live for us in minsk well 1st let's talk to alexandra story and it's go for who's in moscow alexandra what's the back story between mr lucas and mr putin and how do you think that will color their conversation today. well these 2 they go back long together but their relation was never an easy one it was very complicated it is strained it is kind of a relation ship of love and i hate to end that that is because they both have very peculiar particular interests when it comes to the 2 being leaders in their own countries now. has been a tough negotiator before he's been very resistance to this idea being fully fulfilled of integration this union stated though it was 20 years ago his own idea this creation and only. at the beginning of this year he was very resistant to it and now he has no options and now it is all the cards are in the hands of russian president vladimir putin who 1st was very cautious though he did recognize him as a president after these elections he was very cautious in commenting the situation in belarus in the very beginning and then decided to support look at shane call and now they're kind of creating a united front in it but it is very clear who has the upper hand in this relationship now and as i said look at shanksville left himself with no options because he asked for help. from from the russian president and then he will have to comply and pay the price for this support not only support for him personally but also the support russia is giving for him in the international arena ok alexandra thank you very much let's bring in steadfast in whose life was here on the news out of minsk step there are variables here aren't they we can't predict clearly what will come out of this meeting between mr putin and mr luker shanker. well exactly but the opposition here already has responded and sent a message should directly to mr putin the fact line that the camel scalia who is in exile in lithuania and many believe here has actually been the chosen president in the last elections as i actually want president putin not to sign any agreements with her she says you shouldn't sign any agreement with an illegitimate president because these agreements will be reviewed by the next government which is according to her the proper government she also said she is sorry that putin is having a dialogue with and she says and not with the belorussian people so there's a lot of anxiety of course here in belarus about this meeting how far is look at shankar going to go in signing any agreements that would affect the so variety of by the rules because for many here this has been in turn no problem and internal fight the only objective they have had until now is to get rid of the. illegitimate president as they say so they're watching a very careful that financially step many thanks to correspondent there on the ground in minsk let's bring in as well carlos usable the russian opposition activist in exile in poland veronica said carlo welcome to the new mr lucas clearly wants to suffocate the protest movement when he has with vladimir putin today do you get the sense get the feeling that mr putin will try to help him or stop him. well actually nobody knows nobody can predict what's going to have been doing this meeting or in such a to be your president what's your and the question to who is not the legitimate president and you wonder he just use the power there when he wasn't agencies and he had not announced himself as the president so we do not believe he's a president that this is number one number 2 we believe that mr bolton he will condemn the tri cities the word of people because he has the killings. but what's basically it has been going on. for more than one months so we expected that was to amuse them which is will they get this side of the other steeple because in these kids the risk people will never forget. humor is that he will become a hero for the risk people if you take this side of the most people mean when they do not accept looks and then they want to we do not consider the question as our president elect ok when you talk about the atrocities committed over the past 5 weeks he has been targeting mr shanker mean he has been targeting certain high profile protesters certain high profile aspirant politicians you'll one of them that's why you are not in belarus what can you do from here to push back against that. well actually on the question going to he eliminates all strong candidates here in the it's all strong leaders. really leader it could be a leader in effect doing the brands even just the regular person who can lead the people he made he needed people to disperse into the prison or he falsified the queen in our case the 2nd in my case as well because he. supplied the criminal case against my husband while he is facing up to 15 years in prison that's why we had to leave it at a risk but in general this is the kind of person who doesn't have any or. i don't know who i don't i don't even know how could this crap look questions come back he's not our he's not a leader and you're one of them we have a lot of people don't want humane or want good and we want respect that sent back we want to keep our said something to from russia we don't want to become part of the russians to do ration about we ask why it's going to put into it would be on the side to belittle people and they build a risk it will decide desire is just a good treatable question because he's not rejecting what president 4 are saying they want but he's not part of bill i was any longer here because there are a lot of people would never do these kind of atrocities towards their own people ok here's the thing you're message of get rid of is perfectly understandable is it overly simplistic i mean how do you for example capitalize on the relationship between mr putin and mr lucas we know it's a matter of record the mr putin has found his relationship with luka shanker at best frustrating sometimes there is no love lost between these 2 men anyway and if this pivots toward some sort of soft an exception because putin comes out and condemns luka schenker you could then be involved in perpetrating what increasingly looks like a stalemate. well actually 1st of all the brain a message we like we don't want to be a part of that our situation we want to give our something to and we want to put a stop planning it's in the question because now what we see that the question is getting money from russia for well enforcement agencies for police officers and this is probably the biggest probably atrocity skip's going keep going on that's why we ask mr watson just to be once again to be on the thought the good side of. people desire and a lot of people. and the only wish the only desire would he have right now and just so will follow question to me for our country because he's not rejecting my president and your want to would like prefer release all the political prisoners and we would like to announce a new presidential election in beverly swear all alternative candidates any citizen of below 0 so will be able to but he supposed in the democratic. elections we expect like that which in our stop supporting the question could reach him or question yes and reach against their own people is there another dynamic here and it's really a big issue for the protest movement mr lucas is now facing moscow he's facing up to and engaging with mr putin the protest movement by and large i think it'd be fair to say stop me if i've got this wrong is facing europe it wants to tilt towards europe but all of the e.u. countries pretty much have signaled you are on your own and they're kind of moving back from this crisis and they they seem to be adopting a stance that says well we have to accept that mr putin is the king maker in this this relationship between mr putin mr lucas and the protest movement. well. actually from me here most important is the desire or didn't we show or the abilities people so as i said earlier. even divorced people do not support looks and i want to look and get this 3 percent over the borders who supports his city team not more than 50 percent especially at work especially after what happened was not almost 11 where you so that berthoud to school and you saw how people were delicious cute cute dog shit she would rape we don't concede there were questioned why is our president in a longer so international society international community all they do and that was the question as if some of them got a special european union european parliament did it to be some gimmicks 2 weeks ago so we expect the entire international says society not go acknowledging the question it's a president elect and who want russia to do they should not support their beseech you any longer people who want to be independent but want to keep our sovereignty but we want we want to think and not the president not just the 8 that we've shown the country for the last 26 years and we want to stop suffering people ok when you talk about the prospect of the potential of another dictator we're talking about a soft on exception mr putin for several days now has been reheating this idea of sending in quote a contingent of forces if he does that would that be enough of a russian presence as well as a bell or russian presence on the streets of security forces presumably dressed in the same way as we saw them dress yesterday when they were roughing up and taking away the protesters would that be enough for you to say to your colleagues back in belarus we cannot take to the streets anymore because you know if mr putin sends in the big boys they're not going to be handing out tea and cake they're going to be doing exactly what we've seen for the past 5 weeks having been done by the by the russian forces. we hope that all mr pritchett will not send our central russian or our military troops to them there is because as i said my guess is i'll wait until all of this is the intel the no fly zone bill recently and we believe that what's in it will not send military people can bear arms because it's i think it's a number that we can't trust it's the words i would get over from there are there are always so i go i was slow enforcement agencies from our resources so we whole we were hoping it's not going to happen ok there on a very difficult time for russians thank you so much for talking to us from home. thank you plenty more still to come here on the news hour for you including these stories the refugee crisis on the greek island of los balsa new camp is being set up but thousands still need help. also ahead where homes once stood devastating wildfires across the u.s. west coast approaching communities underscoring livelihoods. and leo will tell you about this story the n.f.l. starts its season with peaceful protests we've got that coming up in the sports news in a little over a half an hour. to the u.s. strong winds complicating efforts to battle catastrophic wildfires sweeping across the american west coast at least $33.00 people have died and thousands of homes and businesses have been burnt to the ground nearly $100.00 fires are burning across 3 states now president from is expected to visit the affected areas in california on monday let's talk to jennifer buhl clinch she's live in the city of chino in northern california jennifer welcome to the news hour give us a sense of how bad it is right now. peter it is very bad you mentioned the death toll of $33.00 we now can confirm 2 more deaths that were remains that were found in ashes of burned out houses in the last few hours so 35 people confirmed dead in these fires some of which have been burning for more than a month in the state of california 3300000 acres in oregon more than a 1000000 acres and 500000 people evacuated to the north in washington state we have 600000 acres burned and it's been a long long long few days here as the weather changed and was cooler and it was cooperative and allowing fire crews to start cutting lines around some of these fires but those lines they expect will be tested today as the wind shift and the critical fire weather is back those cool sea breezes that have been coming in have only been blowing the smoke back on us but it has kept things sort of calm as far as the fire fight goes giving crews in a chance just gain a little bit of ground but they're hoping that they don't lose that ground as the wind shifts latest today peter just looking jennifer at the latest pictures as you're talking to us it's clearly a scene of utter devastation with talking about people who've not just lost a lot of their lawyers they've lost all of their lives businesses hoses homes caravan parks all gone when mr trump visits if he visits given his comments about it it's all about forestry management last night a republican rally will kind of reception will he get perhaps if he has to engage with real people you know not fire officials but people who've lost everything. well i don't think that that opportunity will present itself and it's going to be a very controlled setting for the president as he lands at an air station has a press availability a pool situation in a hangar nearby and then goes straight back on to air force one to take off again he'll be in a in a military enclave and he'll be addressing some of the national guard members who made those very courageous rescues of residents who were stranded in in some of the campsites and some of the for a serious however there have been plenty of officials here in the state of california who have fired back against the president and those comments about forestry management of course it's a part of the problem is how the forests are managed and how how much work is done before fire season but the fact that climate change is also playing a part has definitely come up here in the state of california ok jennifer will leave it there good to talk to you thank you very much jennifer buhl clint they're reporting live from chico in northern california. officials in greece of started moving refugee used to a new site on the island. last week but many people are resisting attempts to relocate them they say they want to go to the mainland and then on to other e.u. countries let's bring in stephanie joining us live from los boss stand outs of the thousands of people who were in such a bad situation yesterday and the day before how many are safe and secure or in this new refugee camp. while the official numbers around 550 the reality is that most of the people of those around 12000 remain here on the streets in the middle of the island this is stripped bare a couple of kilometers you can see full of people who've set up makeshift shelters along the side of the road they've really been left to fend for themselves peter it's almost a week since the fire. europe's biggest refugee camp and i think what's extraordinary here we've all covered refugee issues for a very long time now for years and years is the complete lack of absence of any cohesive aid help of getting shelter over food and water yes this camp has been set up that you've mentioned but a lot of people don't want to go there also there's no real concerted effort to get them there so we've been talking to a lot of people here over the last few days some of them also sleeping in the olive groves that we were talking to an extraordinary young 11 year old afghan boy who taught himself how to speak english i think often the stories get lost when we talk about the mass numbers so this is a little bit of what they have to tell us. and there is an image in mass human misery but everyone here has a broken dream. problem is this. one of hope. one of. of. messages from afghanistan he says he worries about the effect the lack of hope is having on his mental health. is not about my stomach. it's about emotional it's most. brain future 11 year old iman had he is too young to worry about his future but he does he is an extraordinary young boy his opportunities lost here no i don't want to stay here any more i don't want to waste my life here and i want to get i want to go to another kind of country of my family had to start a new life is not going to skill and i have a you know we were you were telling me you've never been to school i have never been to school so how is your english so incredible i learned from someone and then i started learning english from internet. there is no running water no sanitation they've been setting up tents and tarps woolens since moria camp burnt to the ground almost a week ago refugees have largely been left to fend for themselves the problem is there's a lot of people has like. a health condition or they have like a problem with heart with. all of us in the sense the waste and all of us we are lost we have no idea what to do we just we have to wait there is a new camp that's being set up but only a few 100 people have been transferred so far there are around 12000 that need to be or get tested for the coronavirus before they get allocated a tent there is a real fear that it is spreading among the refugees most will remain on the streets in the hills of this island so off to having spent the day here talking to people we just got a phone call that the police had come to evict them because this is private property now we've been watching people throughout the day picking up tarpaulins whatever they could find some of these nets you can see a mattress here and some of the food handouts just left. so again there on the streets yes there is a new camp that's been set up but by no means is that large enough to house the thousands of people that need shelter we need a group of young men trying to decide where to sleep. where shall we go now we have no idea what our fate will be if we go to mytilene and the people don't want us we're not welcome we are displaced once again we will sleep in the orchards what the burning down of your biggest refugee camp has done is reignited the debate and turned the international spotlight back on these forgotten people so for those refugees who are not safe in this new the ones who are still sleeping on the streets literally how do they perceive the status of this new place to live. it was not a rumor is this is the problem as well the refugees are telling us that they say that the greek authorities are taking away their mobile phones there's no running water i mean none of this we've been able to confirm you can see behind me they can take your expanding it still because you know it's not enough for 12000 people it also looks to me very open to the elements you know right there on the shores of the island and also i think some pressure is now starting to get people to move we had a statement from the greek ministry of migration saying as of monday the 21st of september they'll be resuming interviews i think remote interviews because of corona of asylum status and that process about all previous appointments that people had would be counted on this is only going to apply to those people who have entered the camp now again we know are only 550 people when we're talking about almost 12000 out on the streets so it is a problem that remains very much on resolved at the moment ok staff will leave it there thank you very much stephanie reporting live for the news from those balls. ok time for the weather his journey so we're working our way through the alphabet all but when it comes to naming all these storm systems you guys each and every are guessing near the end we have not got 4 named storms atlantic named storms and want to recall one lesser left let me show you because as you say we have really gone through them this year my goodness what a busy season it is this is the satellite you look at a wider view here across the atlantic let me show you what we're talk about here is the concrete and this is in the eastern pacific we've got sallie in the gulf of mexico paulette a hurrican now making landfall across the music we've got run a which has trouble a depression still named but it will begin to weaken and then this mass you can see here this is just a 2nd be named as tropical storm teddy that is teddy after teddy there is a w. and then that is this year down the list that you can see has to go through monday where the storms all this massive blue that is to the sofa now it is well out in open waters sali is no this is really impacting the southeast of the united states it's moving very slowly it's producing some torrential amounts of rain along the coast the winds are strong getting stronger right now winds sustained of 110 kilometers an hour and it will continue to strengthen as we go through the next couple of days this is through tuesday you can see it beginning to come on shore it's not entirely clear when it's going to come on shore indeed where but it really will be impacting the coast of louisiana and as we go through tuesday it will be upgraded it will be strengthening into a hurrican so winds sustained at about 140 kilometers an hour the storm surge is a huge concern along this particular region very low lying and depending on where you are in the track of this it could be as much as 3 me to say this is so we're very close to the next couple days peter but of course there are lots of others which will be close on as well i'm sure you will jenny will talk to you later thank you very much still to come here on the news doubts clouding the future of the social media to talk in the united states. and in school the comeback kids do it again the denver nuggets yet another season so you can we. told you in about 20 minutes. all i work to stay with most outstanding my wife arrest internment and mass indoctrination all we go children are now in the process of reeducation or chinese assimilation forced labor and the use of high tech surveillance we're being complicit in the human rights abuses that are occurring in australian investigation into china's systematic repression of the weakest tell the world on al-jazeera when the news breaks and the racism protests continue in a number of cities across the united states when people need to be heard in the health area why don't you. destroy about 80 sit at this land that al-jazeera has teams on the ground if we're just talking about wind and solar as if that's going to solve the problem if want to bring you more real world when documentaries and lightning. on air and online. we're back here watching the news our live from our world headquarters here in doha your top stories the belorussian leader is meeting the russian president vladimir putin in the russian city of sochi alexander lukashenko wants to secure more loans and political support in the face of growing process against him. strong winds a complicating the efforts to battle catastrophic wildfires sweeping across the american west coast at least 33 people have died and thousands of homes and businesses have been lost in 100 fires are burning across 3 states. and refugees on the greek island of less bonsa being moved to a new size after they have been demanding humanitarian assistance and want to be taken to the mainland. japan's governing party has today elected its new leader to take over from shinzo he's your sukkah he's a longtime ally of the outgoing prime minister the liberal democratic party leadership vote paves the way for super to replace him in a palm entry vote this week shinzo r.b.s. japan's longest serving prime minister it was signed last month because of poor health let's bring in craig mark he's a professor of international relations at the women's university he joins us on skype from tokyo craig good to talk to you again is the key thing here does the new man go to an election so he can show i've got the mandate of the people as well as having the mandate of the party. yes that's the speculation now without a mistress a google call early election these next month where they hear a lot of state and prime minister for. election has to be held by don't tell the next year he has said that he won't hold the election until the coronavirus is well under control but there's lots of speculation about whether he'll go for an early election to take advantage of his circle honeymoon period of being prime minister and also before the opposition parties could potentially get their act together and have a more formidable challenge in the arena of foreign affairs though how does he make sure that he puts his own stamp on how japan is perceived because he's gone public with this house and he doesn't have a lot of foreign affairs experience and he has said i will be talking to shinzo up a so shinzo rbs kind of a back seat driver now. well yes he has said he will be asked and there are great for advice and mr ave is hasn't said he's going to retire from politics or anything yet but he one reason the main reason to go was elected and party leader was for his consistency that he was going to continue the foreign policy of shinzo of a particularly maintaining the u.s. ally it's also trying to. relations with china not and of course he'll be waiting to see what it when else the results of the u.s. election in november but the big challenge really is can he was storm of nations with south korea because relations between japan and south korea really deteriorated over the past years so if he's going to have any major success that would probably be the biggest challenge so far but also he is probably going to maintain good relations with india yes even countries stroeve you as well as he nicely will be consistency ok in the domestic arena however does he have something of an uphill battle because i know some analysts i don't know if you agree with this some analysts have been saying this they've been saying look the opposition is kind of coming together the opposition is getting stronger so they might turn round to put even more pressure on the l.d.p. and if you're not shinzo i'll be with that track record that might be a difficult dynamic to force back against. yes that could be a challenge if the opposition parties do manage to get a more positive policy agenda the opposition leader mr dano the leader of the constitutional democratic party he's met it's to bring together the new merger of the previous lived off party the democratic party for the people we has advocated casting a reason possibly a volition in the consumption tax which is very popular is the under the lobby the consumption taxes raised twice in its time the economy went into recession in the recession before the current virus struck beginning of this year and. the opposition will have a big hurdle still though right behind in opinion polls and also there is a very weak position still in the last house of the dyess so no probably have a big challenge to even beat a little bit pregnant probably even if there is no way action mixed year. but if they perform well in the next election they could possibly put them into striking distance will the election up to that ok mr mark many thanks craig talking to us from tokyo. and the next hour of court in israel is expected to send some say settle for the $2153.00 members of a palestinian family earlier this year. union was convicted of 3 counts of murder 2 counts of attempted murder and 2 counts of awesome it's a firebomb into the home of the family killing the couple and the in from some the eldest son who was 4 years old at the time is the only survivor of talk now to have a force that he's in lead in israel perry what can we expect to happen today. well you know we're expecting the 3 panel judge at the court behind me the law district court to give a sentence in this case which was one of the most shocking in recent years in terms of palestinian violence when this sentence was delivered or other when the verdict was delivered in may the shin bet internal security service called this a landmark moment in the fight against what it calls jewish terror this was a case which you set out just now where 3 members of the same family were killed in this horrific way or the mother and father surviving for some time after the attack the young 18 month old was killed then and of course the older brother ahmed had many years of rehabilitation from his burns to undergo and so we're expecting a lengthy sentence the lawyer for the family wants to see 3 life sentences plus an extra 20 years and plus the maximum financial compensation available to those to those remaining family members for each of those killed i.e. $75000.00 and harry is 5 years since these people lost their lives why has it taken so very long to get to where we are today. yes there have been all sorts of legal entanglements an instrument on the way to this point in 2015 it took some months before the suspects as they then were were arrested it tracked a huge amount of high profile political intervention government ministers saying how important it was to bring the killers to justice there were 2 men or one youth and one man arrested at the time along with been a minor who can't be named because of his age at the time was initially suspected of also taking part in the attack. he eventually was given a plea deal and later convicted of belonging to a terror group something that himself was not and the confessions that been illegal gave 2 of them were ruled inadmissible because of the fact that enhanced interrogation or as his legal team put it torture was used to extract those confessions there was a separate trial about the admissibility or otherwise of those confessions even after the verdict the defense team tried to get the verdict overturned on the basis of interviews that the surviving boy are committed given which seemed to contradict some of the the other evidence in the case and so there's there been all sorts of legal bars to getting this done quickly but now we finally do have this day when we're expected to find out exactly what sentence i'm around been ileo will be given ok harry will talk to you later i'm sure in the meantime thank you very much let's go live to duma because newton abraham is correspondent there. welcome back to the news now you're at the scene of the crying in the last 5 years what's changed between what happened then and how it's looking today. let's start from the house where the crime has happened in i can tell you that nothing much has happened this is the room that in which the father the mother and the told there where when the molotov cocktail was thrown into the house so that family decided to keep everything as you can see them burned the signs of the damage in the house they didn't want to change anything they say that they want to turn it into a museum where people can come and see if occasions of such talks in the morning we came here to and the boy was here before they were going to court he's now 10 years old and he still remembers he still doesn't want to talk about this issue the family says he members but he says he doesn't it seems like the boy doesn't even want to have any connection with the house he was telling us that this is not his house he doesn't want to go in so we can really sense the trauma in the family he had to move out of the house to live with his maternal grandparents he had gone through a lot of surgeries to remove the trauma and the signs of the burns and as we can see here that everything in this house reminds the family of this tragedy what does the family expect today from the court. well the family has told us that no matter the sentence the family nothing is going to return the family to how it's where nothing is going to be helping to return to his normal life he lost his family but they hope that a harsh sentence from the cord could deter more settlers from committing these attacks this is a house in the middle of the village of duma and palestinians say that the settlers had so much of that city to come in fight the village and to commit that crime within the village as if they don't care about the rest of the population here they say that settler attacks have been on on their eyes and the u.n. figures show that there have been on the rise since 2016 let's talk about this year for example since the beginning of the year there are more than 180 attacks 50 at least of them have caused injuries among palestinians so it seems like subtler attacks are on their eyes as for international a new u.n. organizations figures and palestinians hope that maybe a harsh sentence in a very a day or case like this one would help them get some sort of justice in the future thank you very much reporting live from. now time for breaks it the british government says its proposed internal market bill would allow businesses to trade without barriers across the u.k. but that is provoking strong condemnation from the european union let's take a closer look at what is in it will ministers will have the power to modify rules in the e.u. withdrawal agreement on the movement of goods from northern ireland to great britain and on state aid that is if the 2 sides don't agree a future trade deal critics say that could undermine the good friday agreement we explore that yesterday the peace treaty that ended decades of armed conflict in northern ireland the trouble so-called and also this is a crucial point breach international law and the e.u. has given the u.k. 3 weeks to make amendments or to face legal action the u.k. prime minister boris johnson is facing opposition now from members of his own government let's bring in tom brooks he's the dean of durham university law school tom welcome back ok this is really complicated let's just take me through an idiot's guide i'm the idiot why is what the government is proposing in london going to breach international law. you know the it all is one of probably back the reason why this would breach international law is because government says it has agreed to a pact of an international treaty with the european union that there would be a different customs arrangement in northern ireland than the rest of you k. and that was because the british government wanted to have an open border or trade in peru people across in the island of ireland and so northern ireland was to be treated in the internal market government is now. wanting to push the parliament now want you to prove who are actively breaks that deal and does not treaty northern ireland as being in a separate customs arrangement. ok now the e.u. is saying look the clock is ticking not on various contractual deadlines or trade deals the clock is ticking you've got 3 weeks to come up with something to pull some sort of bricks it rabbit out of a hat or you will face legal action from the european union presumably the european commission in real terms what would that legal action be. well that legal action could be fairly substantial there would be mostly around monetary issues in it one of the big thing that's happening right now is in order to have that retreat across the border with with the between the e.u. and a non e.u. member state there is no such a border anywhere else along the monkey you this be the only one with britain both sides agree the only possible ignore that arlen was really part of the same regulations that they have the same standards the same rules apply otherwise you have to check you know what was being moved across the border terms of livestock goods services to ensure that one side wasn't kind of plotting the regulations of the other and so kind of legal action we'd be looking at this potentially willing to put in an actual who are in mixes central clients stopping the movement of goods or services into the republic of ireland and send them causing further economic damage to the u.k. ok when boris johnson got back into number 10 mid december last year his calling card was let's get bricks it done so fast forward to where we are today he seems to be trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole can he do that without breaking the law all being in breach of old those treaties that all the e.u. countries signed up to that kind of constitute what the european union is a boat and if you try is it therefore risk that legal action from the commission that you're talking about. frankly i think that horse johnson hasn't had a whole lot of imagination about any this mission from the start it seemed to be very much a having his cake and eating it strategy that there was no big idea other then he seemed to genuinely think the u.k. was just so incredibly important to the european union that they would just let britain leave and trey you know leave the club have no fee to pay no membership fee as part of the european union could go its own sweet way and have to tear the trade in the european union what are we just back down and we just allow that and it hasn't been one of the problems that the prime minister has himself been right now in particular is that it is exactly what he said he went to the public he said that skeptics it he said he hasn't already deal if he got a majority he was going to pass this withdrawal agreement in the what's called the northern ireland protocol is going to get put into law he told the public this was a great deal it was the best deal who's going to make everything happen and the country would be out and with that deal by the end of the next calendar year now we're looking at increasingly likely no deal at all he said what he asked the people to vote for him and any governor george over was actually bad and not in the british interest or he didn't seem to recognise the restrictions it imposes he's trying to kind of get out of this dealy told people i think he's not going to be able to put the square peg in a round hole as you say i mean this is i think this is affectively the prime minister realizing he's not going to get the kind of deal he thought he was going to get with the e.u. britain is not going to be better off at least not in the short term with the you in terms of the trade deal and he's trying to pin put some blame on the e.u. so in doing this kind of strategy he's making all. we are trying to preserve britain's interests putting the country 1st and the integrity of our internal market this kind of stuff this is all effort political that her may be trying to pin some blame on the e.u. the e.u. says britain things get messy that somehow the e.u. is the one who walked away and not him even though he's a well played into law this kind of crazy logic of choosing to kind of break the law in it political points is something that's been happening a lot in this. hole where the government has lost one case after the other in the u.k. supreme court and i'm pretty certain they will lose this one as well ok a losing battle legally but it's to score political points and this and save some political ok that's great tom thank you so much always a pleasure tom tom brooks the dean of
