As far as indoor restaurants and churches to close us coronavirus cases keep surging across the u. S. And thousands in the dea or c. Protest against the nomination of a new election chief considered too close to former president joseph. I mean well into the sports news as much as the city is european ban is overturned and washingtons n. F. L. Team dropped their controversial redskins name after pressure from sponsors and social justice come. The United States has toughened that stance on chinas disputed claims to offshore resources and most of the South China Sea calling them completely unlawful secretary of state might pompei or has released a statement saying beijing has no legal grounds to unilaterally impose its will on the region the movies likely to further increase tensions between the 2 nations says the us champions what he calls a free and open in the pacific his statement said the u. S. Wants to make it clear the beijings claims to offshore resources across most of the South China Sea are completely unlawful as is its campaign of bull. To control them the South China Sea claims by china include ownership of the Spratly Islands which are also claimed by the philippines vietnam and others the scarboro reef is claimed by china and the philippines and that this feud began began 8 years ago when the Philippine Navy apprehend that 8 mainland chinese Fishing Vessels the shoal compares announcement came hours after china sanctioned that u. S. Officials in retaliation for washington blacklisting a number of chinese politicians over beijings treatment of its we are minority those targeted include senators ted cruz and marco rubio both supported legislation that president obama signed in june calling for sanctions over the repression of leakers the u. N. Says about 1000000 we have been detained in re education camps in xinjiang Chinas Foreign Ministry warned the us to stay out of chinas internal affairs me from south engine pensions the us practice is in serious interference in chinas internal affairs in serious violation of basic norms in governance of International Relations china opposes and strongly condemns that in response to u. S. Wrongdoing china has decided to impose sanctions starting from today. Its get more on all of this from our White House Correspondent Kimberly Halkett so kimberly 1st of all lets start with the secretary of state microcode tell us a little bit about what he said and the wider meaning of it really. You know what i think whats so pronounced about this is the fact that up until now the u. S. Had always maintained that when it came to disputes in these territorial waters and the claims that china has made in those waters that this really needed to be resolved at you and back to arbitration so this is a complete departure from that standpoint the u. S. Secretary of state in his statement as well as his tweets as you mentioned coming out very strong cues in china of bullying accusing china of being completely unlawful of its claims and making clear that the United States is now standing with its Southeast Asian partners in terms of moving forward that they have been concerned for some time about what they call chinas increasing assertiveness and have completely rejected the claims now again this is something that we had expected but what we see is this kind of tit for tat that has been going on for days we heard from the National Security adviser Robert Obrian as late as late last week saying that we could expect tough action towards china its clear that this is the intention of the administration to send a very strong message case so theyre going to be sending this message they have already what kind of impact can we expect it to have it also is there anything to the timing of it because of course china isnt bishan is in the South China Sea are nothing new. Yeah the timing is important because you have to remember in the context of politics the u. S. President has been irate over the fact that he was expecting to come into november and potentially win reelection on a strong u. S. Economy but that has been decimated as a result of covert 19 donald trump specifically but the u. S. Administration has pointed the finger at china accusing it of not being transparent not doing enough to warn the world and specifically the United States one of the hardest hit countries in the world that this was something that was moving forward so theyre angry about that but theyre also angry not just as the treatment of human rights issue involving chinese weakness but also concern about the National Security law that has been put in place in hong kong the fact that this is broad and sweeping and has already put americans living and working there at risk so in terms of the timing that has a lot to do it with respect to the play but at the same time the United States has also been very assertive if you will because what weve seen is the u. S. Putting in place Aircraft Carrier groups in the sort of disputed waters and territories and not just putting them there but conducting military exercises so the United States has done this knowing that it will not be well received and in fact thats exactly what has been the reaction china making very clear it is unhappy with those exercises and with halkett with the latest from the white house kimberley for the moment thank you well to discuss this further were joined by gordon chang a china analyst and author of the coming collapse of china he joins us via skype from new jersey sir thank you so much for joining us here on aljazeera obvious escalation of tensions between the u. S. And china many reasons outlined there by the by our correspondent covert 19 the treatment of we go the new National Security law in hong kong where do you see this leading between the 2 countries and do you think we really are seeing a Tipping Point in their relationship. I do believe we have a Tipping Point because the United States and indeed a lot of other countries are deciding that they are not going to ignore unacceptable behavior on the agents part we have seen especially since february of this year china act in ways which are expression dangerous and its pushing against india 6 South China Sea and East China Sea nations the stress of invasion of taiwan the increased tempo of dangerous intercepts of the u. S. Navy in the Global Commons so beijing is driving this now theres a lot of disagreement over why china is doing this but the point is china is doing this ok so we have seen strong winds from mike brown pale on the subject in this case specifically the South China Sea but in the past weve seen the u. S. Administration harden up and stance on china but realistically where would they take it what would you see the next step as well the next step is really going to be up to china i think that the issue is going to be driven in part by chinas purchases under the phase one trade deal that was signed january 15th china has made it clear that its not going to be meeting its schedule of purchase goods and services so that is part of the underlying tension but its also you know chinas geo political moves to try to grab territory and try to grab the global comments so i think this is largely in chinas court because countries including the United States or really reacting to what beijing is doing eventually countries you know along with the United States but if we look at for example whats happening in hong kong with a National Security law yes some countries have offered citizenship for example to some in hong kong but beyond that do you think that china may just think that actually within its fear of influence it doesnt have anything concrete to fear from countries in the west and certainly not in that part of the world. They very well may think that but you know the congress the house and Senate Passed the hong kong autonomy act without a dissenting vote under that theres not only sanctions against officials which china can certainly bear but also authorization for cutting off the chinese banks from the Global Financial system that could bring down the chinese banks involved certainly the Banking System the economy even the chinese political system so the u. S. Can do a lot to hurt the communist party and i think in the past theyve counted on us not doing that but if they do push the us too far this isnt going to end very well for china well as you said it will be interesting to see how china responds to all of this for the moment gordon chang china analyst sir thank you so much for having shared your expertise with us thank you barbara coming up on this news hour from London Stores selling alcohol shut up shop in south africa to help Health Facilities struggling to cope with coronavirus cases india imposes coronavirus lockdown measures on kashmir which has been suffering restrictions since the government revoked its autonomy good news from Manchester City is there a clear that to play in europe next season will be here shortly with all the details. The World Health Organization says the coronavirus pandemic will worsen of countries fail to adhere to basic health care precautions it says too many countries are seeing infections rise in there will be no return to the old normal for the forseeable future if local issues do not follow the basic public codes principles of physical distance e and wishing wearing masks. Covering a ticket and staying home when sick if the basics arent followed there is only one way despondent mckees going to go its going to get worse and worse and worse but it does not have to be this way or more than a quarter of the worlds record of virus cases are in the United States its recorded more than 3200000 infections meaning that one in 100 americans have tested positive but as cases mount to the trumpet ministration seems to be targeting its own Infectious Diseases expert dr anthony for criticism president out front has retreated a claim that the u. S. Centers for Disease Control the media the Democratic Party and quote most doctors are lying about the disease. Well this by the sun has insisted he has a very good working relationship with. Well her going to relationship with had for a long time right from the beginning i finally do a very nice person i dont always agree with him i close the border as you know to china close i did the ban on china heavily infected and we saved tens of thousands of seductive you will admit that it was a good decision particularly in joins us live now from maryland for more on this ok so if the president is there saying hes got a Good Relationship with dr anthony. Then what is behind i guess some of the retreating that he had that hes doing. Well if you think about when President Trumps hours on someone in the government or on the staff thats what he does he comes out and says no weve got a great relationship ive a lot of respect for this person then they tend to get fired he cant necessarily do that with Anthony Fauci he can try to sideline him but this is a man who has served 6 u. S. President s hes a career Civil Servant he is not a president ial appointee so he could try to fire him or move him to a Different Department white house sending the message that they have no intention of doing that she might be asking yourself what is going on the most respected Infectious Disease leader inside the government has been sidelined by the president well its quite simple Anthony Phelps has been quite critical of the response he said if you look at other countries can you say that were doing well well were not were just not and this is an administration that once the so the message that things are going back to normal the economy can reopen schools can reopen and he doesnt necessarily like the fact that she is contradicting him and remember this is a president that takes any even the slightest criticism very very personally so what we saw over the weekend is the media and white house media were given what looks like Opposition Research basically white house staffers saying all the ways that they thought. That he felt she had been wrong during this pandemic worth pointing out everything they mentioned is exactly things that the president Vice President said at the exact same time still it became clear that they were trying to send the message they were going to try to discredit and that he felt a doctor fauji worth noting the American People like dr fauji hes been the voice of reason to every Health Crisis for decades a recent poll 67 percent of americans say they trust doctors when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic and just 26 percent trust what President Trump has to say so put all of that together and you can see that dr fauci is on the outs with the white house not briefing the president but the president if you want to try to get rid of him is in kind of a box because hes popular not just with the American Public but with people on capitol hill hes really respected. Listening to him so theyre going to try to make sure he cant talk but i just got notice hes going to do a dr project going to do a web stream for georgetown tomorrow so not quite be as quiet as the white house might have but no definitely not practical hane with the latest from marilyn patti thank you so what is the situation looking like in the states well florida has recorded more than 12600 new coronavirus cases on monday its 2nd highest daily total since the outbreak began and californias governor has ordered new lockdown measures including shutting all bars and banning Indoor Dining at restaurants statewide to combat the surge of infections from great unknowns that joins us live now from los angeles several tell us more about the new announcement by the governor of california i mean its particularly painful to have to kind of lock down again isnt it so what led to it. Yes it is particularly painful barber especially for the Business Owners who got there their shops and and places of business in order and now theyre theyre back with no customers california is essentially shutting down again just a month after beginning its gradual reopening process the governor gavin newsom announced on monday that all bars would be closed Indoor Dining would be banned there would be no access to places of Family Entertainment also zoos museums will be closed and in 30 of the most hard affected counties out of the 58 in this state which includes Los Angeles County the biggest county in the country with 10000000 people there will be further restrictions no gym no Church Services indoors no shopping malls no hair salons and a variety of other things this coming as governors around the country are increasingly pulling back from their reopening efforts and as the debate rages over school. In the autumn term as you noted with with our other correspondents President Trump has been pushing for this very hard well today the Los Angeles Unified School district which is the 2nd largest in the u. S. With about 6 100000. 00 plus students announced the doors wont be open in the fall the kids will be at home doing Distance Learning they said it is just not safe for children staff and other people involved including teachers to send the kids back into school as of today barbara the state of california has recorded 326000 cases positive cases of covert 1000 with 7000 deaths. Terrible figures their proper analysts with the latest there from los angeles from the moment thank you. Well the 30 year old man has died in texas after attending a socalled party the chief medical officer in san antonio as Methodist Hospital says the man believed that the pandemic was a hoax. Her breaking story this week we here who are 30 year old peers in this hospital who told their nurses that the intended who had. This is a party by somebody diagnosed with acute virus and the thought is that people get together and to see if the virus is real and if anyone gets. Well to us naval bases on the japanese island of okinawa have been locked down after a rise in covert 1000 infections local authorities describe the surge in cases as extremely regrettable and expressed serious doubts about u. S. Containment measures at least 95 new cases have been confirmed among more than 20000 u. S. Marines stationed on the island in recent days outside the bases there have been nearly 150 cases and 7 deaths reported since the outbreak began. Latin america has surged past the u. S. And canada to become the worlds 2nd war stick region for 5 for a virus thats brazil accounts for almost half of latin americas recorded faith palettes hes and more than 35000 people have died in mexico giving it the worlds 4th worst best hold this past week also saw a record of daily numbers of new cases in mexico with more than 300000 infections. Lets go to hong kong which is reinstating strict Safety Measures for at least a week to help combat a sudden spike in corona virus infections their chief executive kerry lamb says james beauty salons and nightclubs will close again from wednesday restaurants will be restricted the takeaway orders only social distancing and a 4 person limit on gatherings will also be enforced hong kong has one of the worlds lowest infection and death rates but reported a further 52 cases on monday. South africa is the worst the fact that country in africa with more than a quarter of a 1000000 people infected the government is reintroducing lockdown restrictions to try to combat the outbreak for me the miller has more now from johannesburg. President still room of course says blame gatherings like this and what he calls drinking sprees for a surge in covert 1000 infections with more than 270000 cases south africa has one of the highest rates of infection in the world the government has again banned the sale of alcohol after allowing its sale to resume just weeks ago there is now clear evidence that the resumption of alcohol sales has resulted in substantial pressure being put on hospitals including trauma and i. C. U. Units due to Motor Vehicle accidents violence. As well as related trauma. Injuries. Family visits and other social activities have also been banned but people can meet at restaurants malls and other public areas and parks have been reopened for exercise while wearing a mask is mandatory the government says people are not following the rules and theres concern that Health Facilities cant cope some Health Workers a using social media to speak arent expensive here i have had 3 days of this race all is than 2 hours birth period was the most shocking i just find out that the family has remained. Always for recreation or is. He really sure this the bridge repair place is packed away crazy we dont even have any oxygen cords to put patients on additional facilities and quarantine areas have been set up across the country the governments allocated 37000 beds for quarantine and securing thousands of into latest an oxygen for those who need them while more than 4000 people have died here africa does of one of the lowest death rates compared to other countries but it might not stay that way a quarter of those deaths were recorded in the last week alone estimates indicate they could be between 40 and 50000 deaths in the months to come. Yet the government says its reluctant to return to full lockdown millions of dollars and thousands of jobs were lost when it did that in march the government insists its trying to revive the economy while at the same time protecting lives but with 500 new infections every hour the speed with which the virus is spreading may make that more difficult for me to aljazeera johannesburg. Peter drawback is an Infectious Disease and Global Health expert at the university of oxford me joins us now from oxford thank you so much for being with us on the al jazeera you know im speaking to you obviously from the u. K. In europe where you would think that i guess things are at least slowing down getting more towards normality but then you look around the world doesnt seem to be slowing down at all how would you assess the pandemic right now well thank you for having me barbara at the moment were really seeing a quickening of the pandemic a rise in cases the likes of which weve not seen before to put this in context if you go back to mid march when a lot of the world went into lockdown for the 1st time we were seeing around 12000. 00 new cases per day around the world now were at about 200000 new cases around the world and thats rising sharply its driven by some hotspots as your Previous Reports of just showed in america in latin america in south asia but its really picking up and think its a reminder that even in places like europe that have things under control right now we have to remember that none of us are safe from this virus until all of us are in as you say we outlined the sort of the different continents and how its being handled there who do you think has the right approach what do you think of different places need different strategies that perhaps lock down doesnt work in some countries. Well lockdown is never a solution lockdown is really a last resort and unfortunately were in a setting now for example in parts of the u. S. Where a lockdown is probably unfortunately going to be necessary to slow things down but we have to get away from this idea that lockdown is going to solve problems its an emergency measure that can buy time to protect your Health System and save lives until you can put in place other measures that can help to control the spread of the virus thats widespread testing thats Contact Tracing and isolation systems we need to do is get the level of transmission down low enough that those kinds of systems can handle it once you reach this exponential growth phase that were seeing in the u. S. And so many other places right now its tremendously difficult to do that and thats why weve made lockdown in some places as a reset its just a tremendously painful measure one thing to know is that if you look at a place like japan or south korea theyve been able to through aggressive and much more targeted measures actually never have to go into a full lockdown and so it is avoidable im not slow kiss you know we often speak about the u. S. Or Latin America Europe of course and lets look a little bit of africa because thats quite interesting discover some countries but were hearing south africa being badly hit that is it really dont seem to have been hit very badly at all what do you attribute it to is it that perhaps thats being reported a younger population what do you think could be at play. Well its likely a combination of factors and of course were still in early days in the pen demick and so its wonderful that weve seen relatively lower rate rates of of cases and deaths across africa but that may not be maintained it seemed to hit a little bit more slowly but one thing i think we need to do is give a lot of african countries credit for reacting quite quickly and aggressively to prevent the virus from taking root there you know africa along with kind of east asia places that have already been scarred by previous epidemics had systems in place and i think were much less likely to be complacent unlike the u. S. In the u. K. So early action actually really really did help to prevent the virus from taking root and thats with the main reason i think weve seen low numbers of cases in many african countries the problem is particularly in settings of poverty you cant keep very extreme social distancing measures in place for very long as youre talking about families who are really on the edge of survival and so were seeing now as your Previous Report from south africa showed as you ease those measures back its really difficult to contain and so i do have some concern we might to start to see some real rise in cases there and of course that until its eradicated every way across our us will always be with us because of course its a global issue as it being a bit the spiriting for us disease expert to see i guess such Little International cooperation in dealing with this. Absolutely you know early on when when this pandemic began and one of the things that i said was that this the current of our spend a mic is a dress rehearsal for 21st century problems like Climate Change that are really really going to require Global Cooperation and coordination because these are problems that know no boundaries unfortunately weve really not risen to the occasion yet we spend a lot of time you know talking about this is like this is the olympics and comparing this country to that country but we really need now is a massive dose of Global Solidarity cooperation and coordination how can we learn from places that have done really well how can we make sure that scarce resources like testing equipment in p. P. T. Can be distributed to where its needed most and we think about it the one place weve had extraordinary cooperation during this pandemic has been among the Scientific Community where theres just an outstanding amount of work being done now in a race to develop vaccines and treatments but when those vaccines come available and they will how are we going to Work Together to make sure that they get to the places that need it most and arent going to be hoarded by wealthy countries thats going to be the next challenge one final question just a few seconds left are masks and necessity do you think at this stage yes we didnt understand early on that that symptomless spread was such a big problem here now we know that it is in general in public everywhere people should be wearing face coverings peter drawback Infectious Disease and Global Health expert at the university of oxford etc thank you so much thank you thank thank you barbara. Thats hard to come still in this news hour including the hidden education emergency white 10000000. 00 children might never go back to school after the coronavirus lockdowns cos of us president arrives in the hague to be grilled over alleged war crimes and one of the worlds top tennis stars apologizes for his part in the doomed balkans 2 world war 4 players tested positive for corona virus. But. Weve got the weather turning a little more mobile across northern parts of europe more clouds some pieces of sherry race sliding in from the atlantic will be a little breezy as well but come down into central i was assertive cross the south is still plenty of warm sunshine around this weather front that we have out towards easter that is Still Producing some very heavy rainfall some thunder a downpour some large hail and now going to make its way a little further north towards cool things off in moscow to around 19 celsius were into the mid to low twentys across many parts but the warmth as i said is further south than cherie make its way across the northwest as we go on through arches day with the winds coming in from the northwest a cooler direction that will just freshen things up a touch but still be too blustery showers just but even more sunshine than showers i suspect although the showers will just pop up a little into central parts as we go on through wisest across the med its fine and dry for the most part with plenty of warm sunshine in that warm sunshine extends across northern parts of africa the showers continue across Central Africa into the gulf of guinea from the european highlands and right across west africa some heavy downpours could cause some flooding into liberia maybe into sierra leone over the next couple of days and it continues to edge its way a little further north. The politics of division have pushed india into the grip of a historical reckoning i am afraid to be closing in on the minorities. Trade could lead to these ideas come from the tragedy of more lives how much weve tried to send a close getting into school a happy family for the people to join me on to shall see you on the final part of my journey when i to become a target of the hindu flounced policy in such an india so the knowledge is 0. The coronavirus painful stuff to change the full bot of head to head for the time being but that wont stop me doing robust interviews with challenging direct questions in a u. S. Election year ill be seeking accountability from both sides of the political spectrum on whos to blame for the horrific coronavirus desktop on how to fix the Us Health Care system and whether the war of words with china is entering a new and dangerous phase join me mad the awesome 1st special series of head to head on aljazeera. Welcome back as a reminder of the top stories on aljazeera the United States has toughened its stance on chinas disputed claims to offshore resources in most of the South China Sea calling them completely unlawful the World Health Organization says the corona virus pandemic will worsen of countries fail to adhere to basic health care precautions it says too many nations are heading in the wrong direction and more than a quarter of the worlds record of virus cases are in the United States its reported more than 3200000 infections meaning one in 100 americans have tested positive. India has reported a surge in cases for the 6th consecutive day with nearly 29000 new infections several states are now reimposing restrictions as a result of the seizure isnt going down well in indian administered kashmir elizabeth piron the reports now from new delhi as the last of the suns rays shine on sri lanka has done lake the serenity hides the fears of expense didnt because for many and indeed administered kashmir more common than the size of boatman is that of soldiers in barricades and one of the worlds most militarized places. The government local representatives say the restrictions were necessary because the number of active coronavirus cases and she noted doubled from nearly 600 may june to 1202 weeks later but with a relatively low number of cases many question the need for such measures its very strange for a common man to understand what kind of logic is being presented to justify this position of lock down and restrictions while the number of cases is not alarming the focus should have been on maintaining physical distance and variant of mass. Medias had been suffering economically long before the nationwide lockdown was imposed in march when the Indian Government revoke the regions were taught to me in all this last year it imposed a curfew and cut off telecommunications see there is already a serious stress and that is financial instability in kashmir really serious financial instability people are on the verge of the financial bring down and. Im praying and hoping that. This extreme step does not lead people to react in some extreme manner. Despite imposing more restrictions on its residents the government says the region will open to domestic tourists from tuesday and an annual hindu pilgrimage might be allowed at the end of the month other pilgrims or tourists why disproof you know is wires on a vacation when the tourists will come is why doesnt the location when the pilgrims will come and the wires will become active only its about the need to kashmiris that has been these are the questions that are being asked. Elsewhere in india the major cities of karnataka and today in maharashtra go into lockdown for 10 days with only essential Services Allowed despite the rise in cases the interior minister says the world is witnessing one of the most successful battles against code 19 here in india but while the nationwide lockdown imposed in late march delayed the surge in cases its now up to state governments to manage the outbreak elizabeth piron an aljazeera new delhi. Ball even if he cannot reject that name but he can always go back to the religious leaders and try to talk to them and see whether they confront a different name and he has said in a Cabinet Meeting recently that hes going to do that in order to deescalate the tensions in the country right now. Where hundreds of thousands of romans would flock to watch chariot races now its being repurposed as a coronavirus friendly out door venue for the rome opera houses summer performances builders have been working around the clock to ready the venue which is surrounded by ruins from the roman empire. Artists around the world are adapting to pandemic restrictions by swapping physical performance spaces for virtual ones its proving particularly challenging for those in argentina where that i recall me was already affecting a large percentage of the population caress a bull reports. Tango represents the heart of the culture in point of sightings music and dance that originated here in the link 18 hundreds. But called 19 has forced many dancers to adjust and adapt to the changing nature of their careers a lot of the. Everything related to art is suspended and its one of the last things that will come back im trying to be positive and focus on what i can do but some of my colleagues say online classes make them feel lonely or far away from everything tango has a lot of physical contact so its going to be a while before were allowed to go back to a stage. That for a member is now teaching students from all around the world and is managing to make ends meet but not everyone has been able to succeed. These artists have come to the president ial palace to demand government assistance. For ending the moon were trying to create a common front to demand income because we dont have anything the government should impose a tax on netflix and other streaming platforms because theyre making a lot of money while were not allowed to do anything. Theatres cinemas and everything related to culture where one of the 1st places to shut down and theyre likely to be the last ones to open this is because early in this avenue its known as the broadway of south america because of the amount of fears that are located here all of them have been close for almost 4 months even thousands of people without work many theatres are now streaming plays online and after watching viewers have an option to make a donation. When. They will from dancing here is lee with the support and tonight you start with a much awaited name change that yes has been coming a while this big story that start with the news that washingtons an f. Old same as drop the redskins name and logo of the pressure from social Justice Groups the redskins name has caused a lot of controversy over the years for what knight of american advocates of called a racial slur pressure increased following the black lives Matter Movement in recent months and case sponsors and asked for the same to changes 9 a new 9 hasnt yet been chosen our correspondent. Has the latest on this from washington. For generations fans of the redskins have cheered for this team with its 87 year old name even though it is defined as a racial slur in the dictionary well the fact that this name is going away now is evidence that the cultural transformation weve been seeing across the United States with attempts to address historical wrongs calling out race and racism well its not just a blip but rather something to stay out of this team has been under pressure for years to change its name but the team owner in 2013 said that this name would never go away telling a newspaper to print the quote in caps well 2020 years here and its a very different time with black lives matter protests happening across the country and monuments to historic figures with racist pats toppled across the country as well and in recent days we saw the sponsors for this Team Including fed ex and pepsi with their name still employees and on the home stadium threatening to withdraw support all apparently money talks leading to the statement that came out today that this dame is going away what it will be replaced with that is still the open question a leading and popular contender on social media is the red tails which would commemorate the tuskegee airman the nations 1st black military pilots well only we spoke to. About washingtons change and he also spoke about the red tiles ideal but there are other options. The most likely names would be either the warriors which would allow the team to keep presumably their logo or Something Like the red tails or the red tail hawks which would let them keep the red part of their nickname so they could keep their team song and things like that that also was the name of an air squadron in the 2nd world war of black pilots from the Tuskegee Institute now bama so theres not really a local connection but there is a National Connection behind that the problem is and the reason why they havent announced a name is that most of these names have already been trademarked by people they call trademark squatters and theres one guy in particular who has trademark Something Like 15 or 20 different possible nicknames for the team and theyre probably having to negotiate a deal with him to get that trademark there are other names like the Kansas City Chiefs American Football Team the Atlanta Braves Baseball Team where they look at the nickname as being something that honors the Warrior Spirit which is another reason why worriers might be the front runner for the Washington Team but this is taking place in colleges in america already for example Florida State are the seminoles with the approval of the seminole tribe who are flora who are natives of florida and never surrendered to the u. S. Government others in north dakota say the sioux nation was divided on whether to continue to be the nickname of north Dakota University to fighting sioux but the legislature in that state changed it anyway because i think the point is if youre offending a certain a certain percentage of any ethnic group why is it worth fighting to keep the name why not just why not just say look were going to stop offending you and will choose another name. To football or Manchester United missed the chance to move into the premier leagues top 4 by conceding a late equaliser in a 22 draw against southampton and united will need to finish in that top 4 to qualify for next seasons Champions League thats because their rivals Manchester City have been cleared to play in the tournament next season after that to me a european ban was overturned the court of arbitration for sport also reduced their fine from 34. 00 to 11000000. 00 earlier we spoke to a pe Global Sports correspondent rob paris who said that while the financial fair play rules have been robust you wife is prosecution of cases recently hasnt. You wait for hopes that they just know the findings of the case and that their main committed to the principles of financial fair play but many will look at this case and wonder just where does financial fair play set from hair or financial fair play was set up 10 years ago in a bid to stabilize the football ecosystem time the Global Financial crisis obviously we now a new period of concerns financially for football with the looming recession financial fair play has worked in terms of bringing down those collective losses across european clubs from over a 1000000000 euros to profitability of more than 100000000 euros in the last Accounting Period but other clubs will now be looking at just what can they spend because financial fair play designed to ensure clubs do break even and they arent just relying on owner investment for their funding at the heart of the mountain to city case with allegations that they over inflated their income using companies linked to the abu dhabi ownership that was not proven in the end but youve got other now clubs going through cas like transoms paul the turkish champion trying to get their own ban overturned and the Manchester City case is just the latest in a line of clubs that have scored legal victories i have you a fat cat ac milan and paris and man as well you wait for seem to struggle to get the cases through cas and to hold up cases that they themselves are prosecuted the n.
