fighting yemen says that it's beginning to try those accused of human rights violations but gives no details of the process. i marry and london with the top stories from europe including drama on downing street person's finance minister in a shock resignation just weeks before the budget. and. organizers of the. olympics say they are not considering canceling or postponing the upcoming games because of the corona virus. the world health organization says the corona virus outbreak is not spreading dramatically outside china the assessment came as 15000 new cases were confirmed in china on wednesday the sharp rise said to be because of a change in the testing criteria w.h.o. says the rise in cases needs to be considered in context. we must take all numbers into account we must look at all numbers seriously we also must try and interpret what those numbers mean and not react directly to the number itself the number of countries reporting cases has still not changed and outside outside the cases on the diamond princess cruise ship we're not seeing a dramatic increase in transmission outside china nearly 1400 people have died from the illness as china grapples to contain the situation it's sacked for officials from who bay province that's the epicenter over their handling of the outbreak more than 60000 people in 26 countries about infected on thursday japan reported its 1st death from the virus cases on the diamond princess cruise ship which is docked in yokohama have risen to 218 and in vietnam 10000 people in a community near hanoi of been placed under a 20 day quarantine after 5 people there tested positive how does the u.s. adrian brown reports now from hong kong. when who days party chief spoke to the media 2 weeks ago he must have known his days were numbered. is the highest ranking political casualty so far his dismissal is in response to mounting public anger over the chinese government's handling of the coronavirus outbreak and follows the sacking of 2 senior health officials on monday and while the purge looks set to continue analysts say it won't bring down those at the top of the party in the way the company's policy works is sacrifice a few small fry to keep the big fish swimming in the park and and this is worked i mean this is what happened in the last great time of the sars epidemic 17 years ago the dramatic jump in deaths came after a team from the world health organization arrived in move on. the head of the w.h.o. 1st lauded china's containment efforts including the isolation of 60000000 people and urged countries not to cut off travel and trade with china health officials say the reason for thursday's sharp rise in death and infections is because the testing criteria has been broadened chinese virus experts say the epidemic should peak in china this month before subsiding what officials don't know though are the number of people who've not been tested because they either unable or unwilling to visit overwhelmed hospitals. the government continues to put out a reassuring message to the outside world that it has this virus under control. in facing it we have always adopted an open transparent and highly responsible attitude not only for the sake of china but also for the world at large state t.v. is stressing the positive showing patients who recovered and gone home it's all reminiscent of them our era with a mass mobilization of medical workers who volunteers and soldiers the nation's being encouraged to fight war president xi jinping pools of people's war against the devils virus and there's another virus his government is trying to contain growing calls to protect freedom of speech and online campaign led by academics who are demanding an end to media censorship seems to be gaining momentum that amounts to explicit criticism of the leadership which is rare in today's china. in hong kong as in mainland china the death of dr li when leon has increased that anger he raised the alarm about the virus 6 weeks ago for doing his job he was reprimanded by police and forced to sign a humiliating confession he died from the virus on friday president xi jinping has offered condolences to the families of medical workers who died but he's yet to publicly mention dr lee by name adrian brown al jazeera hong kong a cruise ship that's been at sea for 2 weeks has don't encounter after it was turned away by 4 other governments in the region as a precaution health officials took blood samples from 20 passengers who were feeling ill but all tested negative for the corona virus when hey reports now from santa ville. as the sun set the west a dam at last arrived in welcoming waters after receiving permission from the cambodian government it docked in cynic ville but no one is allowed off yet medical tests had to be conducted to confirm they were free of the corona virus al-jazeera spoke to one of the passengers on board about the conditions inside it's very disappointing to be told time after time that we're there we're going to dock and that you know when to find out that you know you're not going to be allowed to get to that country so that's worried but i should say that you know life on board the ship is is just fine and normal there are no restrictions concern from governments about the westerdam stem from an outbreak of the virus on board another cruise ship more than 3 and a half 1000 people have been quarantined on board since it arrived in the japanese city of hama on february the 3rd while it was at sea for nearly 2 weeks the westerdam had no confirmed cases but was turned away by japan the philippines taiwan and thailand the arrival of the ship may also be viewed as a public relations win for the cambodian government led by prime minister who sought to downplay the threat of the virus and emphasize his country strong relationship with china where the outbreak began. last week he travelled to beijing to meet xi jinping and china's president praised cambodia's decision to maintain flights between the 2 countries and allow chinese nationals to continue entering cambodia those moves were also welcomed by the world health organization but that's not the recommend child when the chip the restriction in that context a bit you really appreciate that the station and the highest level government leadership to receive this shape cambodia will also be praised by those on board the west to them when they eventually disembarked. and return home wayne hay al-jazeera is in oakville cambodia. protesters in iraq and iran have been marking the end of 40 days of mourning for iran's top military commander custom solomonic earlier in baghdad demonstrators blocked the road near the airport where he was killed in a u.s. airstrike last month so the money was behind iran's efforts to spread its influence throughout the middle east president donald trump ordered the killing saying that he posed an imminent threat well here's what's happened in the aftermath of that u.s. assassination iran's supreme leader ayatollah ali how many warned of severe revenge on the killing sparked protests across iran u.s. president donald trump then threatened to bomb 52 iranian sites of tehran attacked american targets the next day in iraq with the money was killed parliament passed a resolution calling on the government to expel all foreign troops from the country 2 days later a large funeral procession was held for qassam samani and in the early hours of january 8th iran launched a dozen ballistic missiles at 2 iraqi air bases that house u.s. forces the pentagon initially said the americans were hurt but later revealed that over 100 troops were diagnosed with brain injuries let's go live now to al-jazeera store such a body is there so earlier in the day also we saw those protests in baghdad what's been happening in tehran. well there's been commemorations taking place throughout the day and the latest one was a mosque and the terror in the capital was attended by the newly appointed head of the force the man who replaced general soli money. who read parts of the last will and testament of soul and money that highlighted the beliefs and what he wanted to leave behind in terms of his legacy and what he expected of the revolutionary guards and specifically the plots force general so the money said that in his will he believed it is now up to the armed forces and the revolutionary guards to protect the nation and guard its ideologies that was founded by the late a mob khomeini who overthrew the shah in 1979 we also heard from the head of the revolutionary guard major general salami who also expressed his sadness and grief over the assassination of us all the money but he also said that this is not the end of the ideology of the revolutionary guard the death of saudi money does not mean the death of the ideologies of this man and what he stood for some only salame he also stressed that the united states and israel should be really on guard because if they make the smallest mistake iran will not hesitate to respond and strike their interests in the region this is a rhetoric we've heard over and over again and at the commemoration of the 40th day of so the money's assassination we see this kind of rhetoric continuing from the revolutionary guard this event is being seen as something that has really changed the history of not only iran but in this region many say that the relationship between iran the united states will never be the same again after this assassination and we heard from all the high ranking officials that with the assassination of us insulin money iran will end. if for ever fight for the us forces to leave this region that is what will be accomplished by the death of us and sell them on to us so many thanks indeed it was there is still security in teheran let's hear now from some wonderful team in baghdad where some of money was killed in that u.s. missile strike. we're here at baghdad international airport at the precise spot where custom silly money and his iraqi associates on the one disk were killed in the early morning hours of january 3rd in fact you can see in the wall behind me still the remnants of the shrapnel from the american drones a strike that's targeted the group and you can also see the red flags that have been hoisted here which represent both the blood that has been spilled but they're also representing a desire for revenge now today's events here at the airport marked the end of commemorations marking the end of a 40 day mourning period in islam and what we've seen over the past few days are pretty modest gatherings mostly composed of members of the popular mobilization forces which of course is this group of iranian backed groups which this himself was heading as the 2nd in charge and you can see here still we have a few dozen members of the pure math who have gathered they have been chanting anti-american slogans they have been calling for the u.s. to withdraw from iraq overall the numbers have been pretty moderate and compared to the beginning of this crisis the threats against the u.s. have also subsided i spoke earlier today with a parliament member from one of the political wings of the pm and what he told me was that overall there is now a feeling that the government should proceed in the goshi aiding the withdrawal of u.s. troops yeah i knew it was a national resolution made by the iraqi parliament as a simple response against this crime today the government is serious about implementing this decision and there are procedures in place to ensure the withdrawal of u.s. troops but if the us studies then resistance will be. now he wouldn't really name a deadline for when he wants american troops to withdraw from iraq and of course what is further complicating the situation is the uncertain political situation in . the country currently have a caretaker government under prime minister who is currently negotiating. the terms of. military presence. in the process of forming his cabinet. both negotiations will also. take a different direction altogether. from 0 still to come on the program turkey sends reinforcements northern syria after warning that it will strike hard against syrian government forces if they target its soldiers plus the u.s. senate set to vote on legislation to curb the president's powers to use military action against iran. and its course the majesty united kept away from the rest of the 2 to coronavirus fear. that the rest of. the saudi led coalition fighting in yemen says it's begun procedures to try those who have committed human rights violations but it hasn't made clear who will oversee the action nor given details about the process last year the u.n. said that all sides in the conflict have committed war crimes and that some western governments may be complicit reports accused coalition forces of recruiting child soldiers out of committing rape torture. it also accuses the coalition of indiscriminate attacks on civilians the conflict in yemen has killed tens of thousands of people and brought millions to the brink of famine. corey is the former deputy chief of mission at the u.s. embassy in yemen he says that any coalition investigation into its own conduct will have no credibility. well it's a given that the perpetrator of a crime cannot conduct an objective investigation into his own now a criminal activity we've seen how saudi arabia has conducted investigations into the murder of their own journalist. for over a year now and nothing good has come out of that. if that is a goodwill gesture that the solid news if you want to make towards yemen they should stop that war it begins with that and that is something that they are capable of doing after that you can have an independent agency international human rights organizations conduct their investigation and any war criminals should then beauty further to the international criminal court i think rather than getting out futile investigations at this point focus on stopping the war that's something saudis can do the united states can certainly launch an all out diplomatic effort to end this war that would come 1st and that in itself would at least stop the war crimes from continuing and they are going on on a daily basis now after that we can worry about who are lousy who to investigate a spokesman for the united nations secretary general says that thousands of people are fleeing northern syria in treacherous weather conditions on an 800000 syrians mostly women and children have been displaced over the past 2 months civilians remain in harm's way as hostilities are continuing in italy and aleppo reports from the grounded because the thousands of civilians are on the move from around the m 5 highway with most people moving further north and north west towards the turkey syria border inclement weather including snow fall the success abating the situation. turkey has sent reinforcements to its observation posts in northern syria president but one is warning that he will strike back if syrian forces in the province attacked turkish troops syria's ally russia accuses ankara of making the situation worst most rather of the last rebel held region by having its ministry on the ground al-jazeera simcoe silda has been monitoring the situation from babba how well in move in syria the mission for the turkish military observation posts is that through observation reports any possible violation of the the escalation zone agreement which was agreed by turkey russia syria and iran the mission those are going to cover a violation to report violations by the syrian government but also the opposition side as well that's why the turkish military observation that have been observation post have been absent stablished here by the way it's not all that turkish military post but also russians have exactly the same post almost around the same area and they are also doing the same thing of serving and reporting possible violations on the ground this is the mission but however as the syrian government has stopped complying with the our sun and sochi agreements within the the escalations zone borders and have pushed of advance towards and 5 highway north some of these turkish posts have been encircled by the syrian government forces and last week there was an attack to a turkish call more that was that was meant to bring reinforcements to the area especially after the government forces surrounded. a very strategic town that is positioned on the intersection of and 4 and 5 highways. south africa's president is facing increasing pressure to announce measures to turn around the country's economy so run a poser has made several attempts to deliver his 2nd state of the nation address but the opposition party has been disrupting it been calls for him to announce drastic reform measures to aid the country struggling economy unemployment is at its highest in 11 years let's go live now to where al jazeera is probably the middle of who's in johannesburg quite extraordinary scenes in parliament made of what's going on. well at this point or adrian it seems as if parliamentarians have returned to the chamber but that's of parliament was suspended and really quite unprecedented in that the disruption caused by the opposition party the economic freedom fighters had such an impact it's not the first 2 time we're seeing that opposition party disrupt parliament but it is the 1st time we've seen a suspension and as you mentioned there president was a trying to deliver his state of the nation address and not having any luck parliament has now said that the economic freedom fighters members of that party will leave in fact the year fair face said that they're not prepared to stay in parliament as long as the public enterprises minister pravin gordhan is not fired and this is for a number of reasons south africa has had rolling blackouts over the past 2 years but this goes back beyond the spectacle of ministers time in office and they're also a calling into question the handling of state owned enterprises like south african airways and primarily which is the electricity provider here in south africa now these are very important issues for south africa but what happened tonight is that the economic freedom fighters has taken control of proceedings much of the attention is on this particular party and the politics at play rather than dealing with these issues at the forefront of our south africans attention here is the president going to be able to deliver the state of the address tonight. we're waiting to see if that happens following that suspension of the parliamentary house it's been more than an hour of that the president was supposed to have delivered that address things have been disrupted so badly that south africans are still waiting we are hearing to about an hour and a half way up or so as not managed to get a word out essentially the if there face it they will leave the chamber and now we're waiting to see if indeed that happens and if the president will deal with these very important issues that south africans want to know more about ok for me to many thanks indeed of 0 for me the middle of the line for us in johannesburg the british prime minister's reshuffle of his ministers hasn't quite gone to plan in london today with more about its crossbar in the in our european new center maria. that's right adrian there was a shock at the heart of u.k. politics in westminster following the abrupt resignation of the finance minister sajid javid was due to present his 1st budget in just 4 weeks' time but we're ject in order by the prime minister to fire his team of aides he said no self respecting minister could accept what boris johnson was demanding and chose instead to leave his post the move one of a number of ministerial changes is being seen as an attempt by johnson to take full control of the u.k. treasury well speaking to reporters outside his home mr job that said he couldn't accept the prime minister's terms if he wanted to hold onto his job the conditions that were attached was a requirement that replacing all my political advisors you know these are people that have worked incredibly hard on behalf of not just the government but the whole country did a fantastic job i was unable to accept those conditions i don't believe very respected minister would accept such conditions and so therefore i thought the best thing to do was to go. well another victim of the reshuffle was the man responsible for storing power sherry's in northern ireland after 3 years of deadlock julian smith the northern ireland secretary was one of 5 minutes to buy the prime minister smith who is only appointed last july said that serving the people of northern ireland had been the biggest privilege. also to unpick sajid javid resignation a bit further i'm joined now by mo hussein he used to work in downing street as a government advisor so was this about policy or personality where is the relationship gone wrong between a fine minister and his chancellor i think he was a bit of both there seems to have been a few issues along the way in terms of the teams in number 10 in the finance ministry. and i think the prime minister wanted somebody who's on the same page him in terms of fiscal rules in terms of data expending and he's now got in the new chancellor refused to go in with sajid there was a difference of opinion and with the majority the prime minister now has he's very emboldened by that and he needs to deliver the manifesto commitments he needs to deliver the change that people feel they have voted for and i think the calculation he and his team made is we need somebody in the treasury you can do what we want and deliver this for us wasn't somebody you may take a different view and have a different approach to things i guess in some ways their remarks that we've heard from sajid javid today go a bit further than that he said that no self respecting minister would ever accept or is johnson's conditions which seems to suggest a diminished role for the finance minister for the chancellor under in a bar stance of government yes i think that's right and i think that is unprecedented i think you put side in a very difficult position impossible position in fact where the choice was you can keep your job but you have to give up all your power and all the people who work for you and i think he didn't really have a choice it was a sacking with are actually them having stack him and i think probably some people in downing street are quite ok with the resort because he's gone and they've got their man in the job. good amps of you when you say some people in downing street not objecting to this chief advisor at them. johnson dominic cummings plays a very strong role now that does this strengthen the tension yes i think. there has been a lot to talk in recent days about actually there's been a few things he would have a virus the prime minister on that has not happened so. this strengthen him and i think that's kind of power grab of number 10 going into number 11 and overseeing all the policy and the decisions again place to him because ultimately the new advisors and the new team we will be reporting to him but i would just say with a majority of 80 nobody's indispensable i think the prime minister has found his voice on a few issues like ages to like who are way which dominique advised him not to go ahead with so that relationship will be interesting to see in terms of how about develops thank you very much. you. are now in other stories we're following at a nato summit in brussels iraq has agreed to let nato forces resume their anti i.c.l. military training program the mission was not watched in 2018 and involves 500 troops it was suspended last month after a u.s. drone strike killed top iranian commander in baghdad on wednesday nato agree to take over fully the ship of the mission from the united states after pressure from president trump also on the agenda at that summit afghanistan russia and the nato budget today ministers reaffirmed our support to iraq and agreed in principle to enhance nato training mission in the 1st instance this will consist of taking on some of the global coalitions current training activities. minister has also agreed to explore what more we can do beyond this 1st step let me be clear nato is in iraq. on the invitation of the iraq government. and we will only stay in iraq as long as we are welcome that's it from london for now i'll have a bit more for your enemies out but let's get back to adrian and aha. very many thanks indeed for get a weather update next on that is ben what 3 words will take a look at the food app that's helping to rescue and save lives. why one of the world's most catchy songs is in the spotlight in a korean courtroom. at its core of the problem james powers the l.a. lakers it's all come out in lead going into the old break. hello again welcome back to international weather forecast with this i do want to start here in the middle east we have watch one storm system push out of turkey and then across iraq and into the northern part of iran and with that we have seen a lot of snow i want to show you some video that has come out across this region and 45 people have died because of the very heavy snow causing an avalanche across the region there now digging out and they do have better weather conditions but look how deep that snow is that they have been dealing with across the area so take a look the forecast map here on friday still some residual snow across much of this area and into the caspian we're going to be watching this very carefully better weather as we go towards saturday the tempter though is going to come down to about 70 degrees in tehran here across the gulf we have been seeing some very cool air across much of the region wednesday was the cold to stay here in doha for the whole season things are going to get better over the next few days to go to the 3 day forecast for doha temptress coming back up to about normal plenty of sun in the forecast it will be a little breezy here on friday as well as into saturday and for the northern part of africa here across parts of algeria we have been watching one area of low pressure making its way to the north we have seen a little bit of rain coming out of the forecast system and then we're going to be seeing some clouds across much of the coast when the gazi seek attention of 19. but. in an increasingly globalized and interconnected world where digital communication technology is growing digital platforms contribute to making change and expanding civic space consequently activists face harassment states of aliens increasing restrictions on the other hand digital platforms may be used to spread hate speech and trigger violence division conflict and terrorism which in turn contributes to undermining human rights. in this context the national human rights committee of qatar organizes the international conference on social media challenges and ways to promote freedoms and protect activists in cooperation with the united nations high commissioner for human rights the european parliament the global alliance of national human rights institutions and the international federation of journalists. and again it's going to be with us a very unfair to get ahead and doha with the news hour from now to 0 of the headlines there's been a surge in the number of corona virus infections in china made me and who baby profits the epicenter of the outbreak no more than 15000 new confirmed cases all but in state cross the country chinese authorities say the screening criteria as changed. but last chance to fix checkup the 2nd most powerful political position of the u.k. government has resigned in a cabin. reshuffle such a job it was expected to keep his post but stepped down after this agreements overstuffing at his office. and protesters in iraq and iran have been marking the end of 40 days of mourning for iran's top military commander custom solid body earlier in baghdad demonstrators block the road close to where he was killed in a u.s. airstrike last month. a rocket attack has hit an airbase hosting u.s. troops in northern iraq and serious amount of all teen is on the line now from baghdad some of what more do we know. sorry we don't appear to be able to hear. tell you what we'll move on for a moment we'll come back to that breaking news out of iraq soon as we can hear his era in the meantime u.s. secretary of state mike pompei says that real progress has been made in talks with the taliban over the last few days a week long partial truce with the afghan taliban has been negotiated which it's hoped will deescalate violence but it can chief mark s. book made the announcement in brussels during a meeting of nato defense ministers the us senate is set to vote on a resolution that could severely restrict president donald trump's ability to take military action against iran the resolution would force trump to get congressional approval before ordering any ministry operation against tehran if the senate approves the resolution it's likely that the president will veto it or president trump has been vocally opposed to the resolution tweeting it's very important for our country's security that the united states senate not faute for the iran war powers resolution we're doing very well with iran and this is not the time to show weakness and if my hands were tied iran would have a field day sends a very bad signal let's go live to washington to serious white house correspondent kimberly health that is for us republicans behind the president on this issue as they were last week with the impeachment. well what's notable in all of this a dream is the fact that there are some republicans who are not standing with the president on this as we saw with that impeachment vote last week in fact just the opposite there are members of the president's own party who are saying that the president essentially promised to get the united states out of foreign entanglements and this is looking at the rule of law and making sure that the president follows protocols with respect to war and so that's where they are not supporting the president despite his urgings and saying that this would show or project weakness to iran so we're watching very carefully that vote should be coming in the next couple of hours and it will be significant while it is largely symbolic this is an effort by this congress once again to limit presidential power the president has been acting some would say with impunity since he was. essentially acquitted in the u.s. senate of those charges of abuse of power has been targeting members of his administration that testified against him and there are other actions that have been concerning but most say in congress what they're really concerned about and why this resolution is going forward is that with respect to iran when those escalations occurred that the white house did not inform congress only until after the fact and that has made many in congress very nervous so they are moving ahead with this vote again largely symbolic the president expected to veto it but the purpose of this congress they say is to not only alert the white house that they are continuing to watch the president very carefully but they are also seeking new ways to limit his presidential power. ok kimberly many thanks dude i'm serious committee how could ben live in washington let's get back to that breaking news about the rocket attack on the military base in northern iraq of serious someone a full team joins us now live via skype from baghdad where what more do we know about this some other. well we understand there has been another rocket. base in germany which is a base where both iraqi and american troops are based we don't know yet how many rockets hit inside as they say 100 maybe one or 2 and what we know so far is that there have been no casualties are ordered now of course this is the same base where a u.s. contractor was killed back. in a very similar attack that attacked a set of a series of tit for tat. between the united states and. iraq so of course there is a fear that whenever such rocket attacks happen that it well in their response that it will once again be to an escalation of this crisis which has only recently come down now since. the killing are. down 100. january due to an airstrike we have seen a certain we have seen that several rocket attacks have taken place since then there were 3 rocket attacks on the of the u.s. embassy here in baghdad but none of these attacks including today's rocket attack have claimed any american lives of so far we haven't seen any retaliation from the united states the united states now stands pressuring. governments to take its responsibility seriously to protect coalition troops that are in that country and of course it's not that we would expect to see a reaction to everything look like attacks or post in the country because you see it is quite frequently but should see that continue and should they perhaps in the future claims about a lot of those close now there is a chance that this crisis here in iraq might once again only to sort of tension some of us in the estimates for what it is does this have anything to do with the the end of the 40 the mourning period for a custom solid body today. well there is a possibility i was earlier today at the baghdad airport the. presence of the man who was killed this month hundreds and there were. events of one to who basically commemorated the end of the mourning period and there were some chance against the united states calling so there was a drop of there were also some people who've basically balance to take revenge of course of these calls for events and suspects of attacks against the u.s. led her going throughout all of this morning kiran but on the other hand we've also seen a certain calming artist relationship. between mass and star out to these morning events of that as a base and better there and there is also some of the. forces which is it's raining back on and. of. the $100.00 called that it would also think there is. a bit more moderate language for example one member of parliament who represents the political wing of article the mobilization for told me that it is basically now in the hands of the government to negotiate the terms of. american military presence and that their unwavering. negotiations will be successful but he did add that if american troops dong withdraw from iraq that the so-called resistance which it with perhaps some of the more. extreme groups and the bottom of the legislation forces will then take action to make sure that the u.s. military today fatah belittlement there is the end but on the other hand there were a lot of fat over the past few weeks as there are so many thanks did arms or some of the fault in their reporting live from that. hundreds of demonstrators have gathered in malawi's capital a long way demanding the chairwoman of the country's electoral commission resign the top court last week an old 29 teams presidential election vote citing widespread systematic and grave irregularities floor manley reports. the i mean if you're going to protest as i'm allowed to seal off the building of the electoral commission if i was a man i do not believe. hundreds marched to the streets of the southern city of blantyre only a few managed to get past police barricades. a protest the to says he will only take the chains off when the commission's chairwoman jane unsought and has stopped resign. the guests of mic because all what we need is this little in this office should be so we don't want them to get inside this room here . in the capital a long way people also march towards the offices of the electoral commission. is a given present peter moore tarka a narrow win in last year's election but the court accused the commission of numerous inconsistent sees that included using correction fluid on ballot sheets janan saad denies accusations the results had been altered and the materials that we sent. we indeed did not include the pics. and even the doing it training we toured we toured the trainees that the 2 peaks is no doubt but in court one election commission member pointed the blame at and saw all the instructions were given by this year to this. and the time that this who was getting the section the city were not even involved this commission i think it just happened by literally. malawi's constitutional court on wednesday threw out an application by president p. to metallica to suspend the result of the court it given the country just 150 days to order a new election with many now concerned that may not be enough time to restore confidence in the electoral process laurels munley al jazeera. ag science is head of africa program at the time house he joins us now live via skype from london what do you make of this alex i mean how anyone can fail to see that. such excessive use of a well known correcting fluid on the ballot sheets could could possibly be linked to the problems is beyond me. yeah i mean at the time. actually observers were were very puzzled by this and saying they felt that the presidential election particularly. was contentious this march you were waiting for professor to rehearse president. it is strange that for the election monitoring the observer groups the the commonwealth. african union in all of them gave the elections a pretty good bill of health then actually results and again this is another example i think of the challenges that electional up so they should teams from the outside have purses the actual cross sense of or all of the other lections we saw this as an issue in 2017 in kenya where a court ruled the the elections need to be run again in $217.00 there was a challenge over the present presidential elections in liberia for the 2nd round in the end the court didn't let it go ahead and so what happened here in malawi is truly significant
