Well this is all dependent on what the president of the General Assembly announces at the start of the session we understand do you know that twenty seven nations have submitted requests to speak among them are some Foreign MinistersForeign Ministers will speak first at the top of the list there have been moves to try and get to the vote as quickly as possible but once again this is something that will be decided by the General Assemblys president what we do have though is a copy of the resolution which will be submitted to the General Assembly very similar in tone to the one that was voted on in the Security Council earlier this week fourteen members vote in favor of the us the only one voting against vetoing that particular resolution but once again this resolution does not mention the United States my name the relevant paragraph affirms that any decisions and actions which purport of all to the character status of the holy city of jerusalem have no deagle effect are now and void and it calls on ben the nations not the to move their Diplomatic Missions to jerusalem said the u. S. Not singled out here but what it is as well and this is important is a reaffirmation of the United Nations position on the status of jerusalem outlined through decades of resolution in both the Security Council and the General Assembly mike this vote at the General Assembly today is non binding but if the text passes as expected it will carry a great deal of political weight who want it. Yes it will indeed first of all its pointed out it needs a two thirds majority in the General Assembly to pass no veto of course available to any of the member nations but if it is passed or certainly it would be a massive blow to President Trump what is regarded by many members his hectoring tone and particularly his insistence on changing unilaterally the status of jerusalem as many members understand it but what it would also do is send a very clear signal of the degree of isolation of the us visa via the rest of the world whats important though is to remember one figure in the last General Assembly vote on the issue of israel in jerusalem back in november one hundred fifty one nations voted in favor of that resolution declaring israeli actions in jerusalem null and void because it was an occupying power only six nations voted against there were nine abstentions now if we see that kind of pattern then its a massive blow to President Trump and its also a massive signal from the International Community as to the vision of his status and his policies but the u. S. And israel have been fighting very strongly at least get more abstentions so its very very critical in terms of the political effect exactly how sweeping the vote is im curious my what is the mood like at the United Nations ahead of this special session of the General Assembly and also a sense that letter that the u. S. Ambassador to the United Nations sent to member state basically threatening them against voting in favor of this resolution and the threats also we heard from President Trump what are people saying there about all of this. Well nobody is saying anything publicly privately many are outraged at what they see as an unprecedented its a append extraordinary step of attempting to suborn effectively or blackmail General Assembly members into voting along a particular line from officials the secretary generals declined to comment the president of the General Assembly has declined to comment as to the behavior of the United States in this particular matter but certainly we did hear from one ambassador preferred to prepare to speak publicly from sweden and he said look we voted in the Security Council on principle we werent being persuaded in any way or by any outside force theres no reason we would not continue to vote on principle this is reaffirmed as well by the fact that and once again this point this resolution here is basically a restatement of u. N. We have that is the interesting thing that is the slight dichotomy in the israeli position that on the one hand the pushing this whole process on the other hand the Deputy Foreign minister of israel has said that there has been a huge amount of effort to try to head off this resolution to lobby various countries it is understood that israel has been doing a lot of lobbying to try to get countries either to abstain or even better from israels perspective to vote against this resolution and certainly it has been the strategy of Prime Minister netanyahu over some years now to try to improve bilateral ties with countries all over the world in africa in south america ties with china and with india and hes been quite open that part of this is to try and change the balance in the United Nations which he continually insults as. The latest coinage a house of lies and other things so that does suggest that israel at least does care what happens there on some level and sees that obviously given the totally isolated nature of the trump declaration that this is going to bring more international censure on israel in a very high profile institution a question here from one of our viewers harry are on facebook who asks whether they are dissenting voices within israel about the u. S. Decision to recognize or will slam as the capital of israel asking basically what about israeli Public Opinion where does it stand today on this issue. Well i think it stands very much squarely behind the at least at the very least the concept of jerusalem being the capital of israel that is what israelis the jewish israelis of almost every political stripe believe there is some variation in how people assess in terms of real politic this declaration and the effects of it so theres all these really left slightly less convinced that its a good move that it will in any way help the Peace Process or help settle the conflict.
