Alberta needs to introduce stricter restrictions quickly to bring down COVID-19 hospitalizations, two Alberta doctors said as the province announced a reduction in surgeries to increase patient capacity.
Alberta Health Services said Tuesday it would be reducing surgical activity by 30 per cent over the next two weeks in the Calgary, Edmonton and North zones. The postponement of surgeries, as well as some non-urgent procedures and ambulatory appointments, will allow hospitals to expand inpatient beds, AHS said.
