Alachua County Jail employee demoted for sexual harassment

An Alachua County Jail officer has been demoted after an internal investigation determined he sexually harassed an employee through inappropriate talk, throwing objects down her shirt and other actions.
The investigation of James Lemmon began shortly after he was promoted to sergeant in mid-October. The officer had reported Lemmon for bothersome behavior to a supervisor a few years earlier, resulting in corrective counseling.
She posted on social media in October that she could not believe he was promoted given the earlier case, the report states.
“(The officer) alleged that while doing inspections in Booking In, Sergeant Lemmon locked her in a cell with a mental health inmate. She recalled (that Lemmon) would throw the inmate Armband rivets down her shirt. He would ask...if she wanted him to dig them out,” the investigative report states. “(The officer) alleged that Sergeant Lemmon would, while she was in the restroom, jiggle the door handle like someone was trying to open the door.”
